TAKATA RECALL : VOLKSWAGEN DEALER IN HOUSTON IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE TE REPLACEMENT FOR THE AIRBAG FOR THE PAST 5 MONTHS. THEY JUST DON'T RECEIVE THEM THE RECALL WAS MADE IN FEB 2016 AND 13 MONTH LATER VW STILL NOT ABLE TO EXECUTE AGAINST THE RECALL
I'M AN ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBER (ARMY) AND MY NAME IS [XXX]. I AM SERVICING MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE VW STORE LOCATED IN COLUMBUS GA. MY CONCERN IS THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE DUE TO A RECALL. I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A VEHICLE THAT IS UNDER THE RECALL FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAG FOR THE DRIVER SIDE. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER THAT I STATED ABOVE AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE INFORMED ME THAT PART TO FIX MY CAR IS NOT SCHEDULE TO COME IN UNTIL JUNE 2017. FURTHERMORE, HE ALSO MADE IT CLEAR THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER/RENTAL UNTIL THE PARTS CAME IN. I THEN REACHED OUT TO VW OF AMERICA (CASE # [XXX]) AND PRETTY MUCH RECEIVED THE SAME ANSWER, THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE FOR PROVIDING LOANERS FOR THIS RECALL. MEANWHILE I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR DAY TO DAY GIVEN THAT THIS ISSUE WITH THIS RECALL HAS CLAIMED MORE THAN TEN LIVES AND HAS INJURED MORE THAN A HUNDRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PART BECAME AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VEHICLE WILL NOT START. MESSAGE INDICATES "STEERING WHEEL COLUMN LOCK". THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH OTHER VW MODELS, BUT DEALERSHIP WON'T COVER IT, AND GENERAL MANAGER IS ACTING AS IF HE DOESN'T KNOW THIS ISSUE EXISTS WITH OTHER MODELS.
TAKATA RECALL STILL NO FIX AVAILABLE FOR THIS CAR. I'M CONCERNED AS THIS AIRBAG SITUATION SEEMS TO BE DANGEROUS.
UNDERBODY PROTECT SHIELD ON PASSENGER SIDE HAS TORN OFF FOUR TIMES UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE MOST RECENT (12/23/2016) ON INTERSTATE 80 DRIVING WEST IN NEBRASKA RESULTING IN PIECES BREAKING OFF ONTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CAR WAS TRAVELING AT POSTED SPEEDS (APP 75MPH). ROADS WERE CLEAR, NO RAIN, GOOD HIGHWAY CONDITIONS. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES PREVIOUSLY AND VW SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE.
MY FUEL TANK HAD UNEXPLAINED DAMAGE TO THE FUEL NECK WHICH CAUSED THE NEED FOR THE ENTIRE TANK TO BE REPLACED. THE DAMAGE CAUSED THE GAS PUMPS TO SHUTOFF AND MAKING FUELING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE. THE TANK AND NECK ARE ONE UNIT. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER CAN EXPLAIN HOW SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD OF OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS NEVER IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENT NOR WAS THERE ANY SIGNS OF DAMAGE ELSEWHERE TO THE VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL. THIS RECALL WAS ISSUED AT THE BEGINNING OF 2016 AND IT STILL HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED BY VOLKSWAGEN. WITH SUCH A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AS POSED BY THIS RECALL, I WOULD EXPECT THAT A RESOLUTION WOULD HAVE OCCURRED AS IT'S NOW THE END OF 2016.

HAVE NOT RECEIVED APPT FOR RECALL OF MY TACIT AIR BAGS.
"TAKATA INFLATORS" - I RECEIVED A LETTER IN APRIL OF 2016 STATING THAT MY CAR IS SUBJECT TO THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. THE LETTER STATED THAT "A RECALL REPAIR IS NOT YET AVAILABLE." IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER AND I HAVE STILL RECEIVED NO INDICATION AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE NOR WHEN THE REPAIR WILL BE MADE. I HAVE CALLED VW FINANCE AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL VW CORPORATE. I CALLED VW CORPORATE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A TIMELINE AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE LETTER FROM VW STATES VERBATIM: "TAKATA HAS REPORTED THAT THE DRIVER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR COULD POTENTIALLY RUPTURE IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHERE THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS ARE DESIGNED TO DEPLOY. IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS." I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY DRIVING IN THIS VEHICLE!!! I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEIR RESPONSE IS: "REMEMBER, THERE ARE 60 MILLION CARS TO BE REPAIRED WORLDWIDE. TROPICAL CLIMATE AREAS WILL BE FIXED FIRST. REPAIRS WILL GO SOUTH TO NORTH FOR CUSTOMERS, THEN SOUTH TO NORTH FOR DEALERS. DUE TO THE CLIMATE IN THE NORTHEAST THE CONDITIONS DON'T MATCH THE WEATHER THAT IS THE PROBLEM. IT IS, APPARENTLY, A COMBINATION ON HEAT AND HUMIDITY. VW DID NOT MAKE THE AIRBAGS. THERE ARE (3) COMPANIES IN THE WORLD MAKING THE REPLACEMENTS.THAT IS ALL THE INFO I HAVE, FOR NOW." UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!! VOLKSWAGEN WILL FIND THE PARTS WHEN SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED!! THIS IS A TRAVESTY!!
I OWN A 2013 VC CC WITH ABOUT 76,000 MILES ON IT. CAR IS AN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND IS STILL PRETTY NEW WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR BEGAN TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO PROGRESSION OF PROBLEMS. THE ISSUE OCCURRED SUDDENLY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD OR WHILE STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT, ALL THE SUDDEN WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULD BEGIN JERKING AND THE ENGINE WOULD JUST REV UP AS IF THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL POSITION UNTIL EVENTUALLY SHUTTING OFF AND PARKING AND ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON. IF I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT IN DRIVE POSITION, THE PARKING LIGHT WOULD SUDDENLY TURN ON AND I WOULD HAVE NO MOBILITY OF THE VEHICLE. THE CAR WOULD STILL BE ON, BUT WOULD NOT MOVE. I WOULD HAVE TO POSITION IT IN PARK, RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD JUMP START BEFORE THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE MECHATRONIC UNIT, WHICH IS BASICALLY THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS THE TRANSMISSION. REPLACEMENT COSTS WERE $1800. THEY WERE GENERALLY UNSURE OF WHY A NEW VEHICLE WOULD HAVE THESE ISSUES, MENTIONING IT MAY HAVE BEEN WATER DAMAGE FROM STREET FLOODING OR MOISTURE GETTING INTO THE UNIT. EITHER WAY I FEEL IN A BRAND NEW CAR, THESE ISSUES SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING AND ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF.
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND STEERING WHEEL TOOK THE CAR LEFT, LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED. ENTIRE WHEEL AND AXLE WAS OFF VEHICLE. LUCKY THAT THE DRIVER AIRBAG OPENED AS THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON IT FOR POSSIBLE DEFECT.
AIRBAG REPLACEMENT NOT AVAILABLE. AFRAID TO DRIVE IT
THE NEARBY VW OF VENTURA DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE LOANER WHILE THEY FIX THE RECALL ISSUE AS PER NHTSA DIRECTIVES. THE SERVICE MANAGER LAUGHED AT ME OVER THE PHONE SAYING THERE IS NO REMEDY SO GO AND DO WHATEVER YOU WANT AS WE DON'T PROVIDE LOANERS. I'M SPEECHLESS. I HAVE A DISABLED FAMILY MEMBER TO CARRY TO APPOINTMENTS. I'M MORE THAN UPSET. DESPITE THIS FACT THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I WAS NOT AWARE OF RECALL , NEVER RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION LETTER ABOUT IT FROM VW. PLEASE HELP!

TAKATA RECALL; BECAUSE VW APPARENTLY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ITS CUSTOMERS AND REFUSED TO OFFER A TIMELY FIX TO THIS PROBLEM, I DECIDED RATHER THAT DRIVE A POTENTIAL BOMB, TO GET RID OF THE CAR, SUFFERING A SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLAR DECREASE IN VALUE AT TRADE-IN BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.

WE ARE TRYING TO WORK WITH VW ON A NEW VW MODEL CAR; HOWEVER, VW DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT TAKE THE CAR IN TRADE DUE TO THE RECALL AND DEALERS REPRESENTING OTHER MANUFACTURERS ARE RELUCTANT TO TAKE THE CAR IN TRADE OR IF SO AT GREATLY REDUCED TRADE-IN VALUE. WE HAVE TRIED CONTACTING VW DIRECTLY TO DISCUSS; HOWEVER, THE WAIT TIME ON THEIR CUSTOMER HOTLINE IS BETWEEN 1 AND 6 HOURS, THEY HAVE NO DIRECT EMAIL AVAILABLE AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE CHAT LINE IS OFF THE AIR. SINCE THE "TAKATA RECALL" ADDRESSES THE POTENTIAL TO HARM OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE IS MOST OFTEN USED BY MY WIFE AND WITH OUR GRANDCHILDREN, WE'D LIKE TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH VW AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS. IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO?

I HAVE A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN CC, RIGHT NOW IT HAS ONLY 23,000 MILES AND THE TIRES ARE CRACKING SO BADLY, THE CAR WAS IN SERVICE ON 2014 WHICH PRETTY BRAND NEW, I WANT DOT TO RE CERTIFIED THIS TIRE MAKE SURE IT PASS DOT STANDARD I WILL SUBMIT IMAGES UPON REQUEST
TAKATA RECALL: OUR CAR HAS A TAKATA RECALL. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING OR HAVING OUR 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVING IT. NO RENTAL OR LOANERS HAVE BEEN OFFERED. ACCORDING TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT VW CUSTOMER CARE THE NHTSA IS NOT REQUIRING THEM TO OFFER THIS. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO RENT A VEHICLE INDEFINITELY (THERE IS NO TIMEFRAME FOR REPAIR), RECALL STATES THE PROBLEM COULD RESULT IN DEATH, IT SEEMS ILLEGAL NOT TO HAVE A SAFE CAR PROVIDED UNTIL A REPAIR IS AVAILABLE.
VW IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO SOLVE THE TAKATA SDI DRIVER AIRBAG RECALL! CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, PALMETTO 57TH IN MIAMI. SPOKE TO SERVICE MANAGER ROLANDO WHO ADVISED THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE LOANER UNLESS VW CORPORATE AUTHORIZED IT, AND VW HAD NO SOLUTION AT THE MOMENT. CALLED VW CORPORATE AT 1-800-893-5298 AND WAS ADVISED THAT VW IS NOT PROVIDING LOANER CARS, AND WOULD NOT TEMPORARILY REMOVE AIRBAGS UNTIL THEY FIND A SOLUTION. I ADVISED THAT I HAVE A PREGNANT WIFE, AND NEED A TEMPORARY SOLUTION. THEY STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BASED ON THE CORPORATE POLICY THAT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED BY VW. MY COUSIN-IN-LAW HAS AN ACURA TL WITH THE SAME AIRBAG PROBLEM. HE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND GOT A RENTAL CAR AT NO COST UNTIL HIS CAR CAN BE FIXED. I GUESS SOMEONE HAS TO DIE IN ORDER FOR VW TO TAKE CORPORATE ACTION. I PRAY THAT IS NOT MY WIFE AND MY UNBORN BABY! PS: WE OWN THREE LATE MODEL VW'S. WE ARE SELLING ALL OF THEM AND NEVER BUYING ANOTHER ONE AGAIN!

2013 VOLKSWAGEN CC EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CONTI PRO CONTACT TIRES. WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS, AN ABNORMALLY LOUD NOISE EMITTED FROM THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 15000 MILES ON THE TIRES WHEN THE PROBLEM BEGAN. THE ROAD NOISE GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND EVENTUALLY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO CUPPING OF THE TIRES AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE TIRES AND GET A REALIGNMENT. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED ON A REGULAR BASIS THROUGH THE DEALER AND THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION ANY ISSUES WITH ALIGNMENT DURING THE SERVICES. OTHER OWNERS HAD PROVIDED SIMILAR ISSUES ON THE INTERNET AND THAT THE ISSUE HAD NOT RESOLVED AFTER BOTH NEW TIRES AND REALIGNMENT IN MANY CASES. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO BAD ALIGNMENT OR BALL JOINTS IN THE SUSPENSION WITH THE VEHICLE. I PLACED A COMPLAINT WITH VW AND THEY WOULD NOT FURNISH HOW MANY SIMILAR ISSUES WERE REPORTED BY THE CONSUMERS. VW CASE# 160380592.

IT IS NOW MID WAY THROUGH AUGUST IN GA ( HIGH RISK/HUMIDITY STATE) AND I AM STILL BEING TOLD THERE IS NO TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
