My airbag light came on my 2012 EOS and Vw dealer said it was a Clock Spring part issue causing it part number (5K0-953-569-AL) I mentioned this is a safety issue as it also disabled my horn on steering wheel and was pretty sure VW had a recall/bulletin or campaign on this issue. Appears for some odd reason VW didn’t have my vin [XXX] listed or flagged which I believe is a clear mistake. I am escalating this situation with VW and now here as my vehicle is having this same problem and needs listed as well. I strongly feel vw should replace the defective part 5K0-953-569-AL as part of an unidentified vin or vehicle they seem to pick and choose and that isn’t right. VOLKSWAGEN RECALL # 69L2 NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 15V483000 I am not driving it right now as not safe and feel Vw needs to step up and do what is right as exempting vehicles by vin or whatever is not taking proper responsibility for the defects known. In an accident I was struck by another vehicle that swerved into my lane at a very high rate of speed. His vehicle struck my car on the drivers side front quater panel just after the head light and continued past the drivers door. Air bags failed to deploy causing injuries to my head and body. In a separate accident, head on collision the airbags failed in the front and side causing bodily injuries. The failure of the air bags to deploy was supposed to fixed in Nov 2022 at the VW dealership with the clock spring recall . I did have that replaced so why did mine fail not once but twice after the clock spring was replaced?
While driving, turned seat heater on, it overheated enough to burn the seat and my coat. No noticeable fire.
Due to the cold weather I turned on the driver heated seat. I suddenly started feeling it extremely hot, I was wearing a quilted sweater. When I arrived at my work a coworker noticed that my sweater was burned from the back, it had a hole. Then I saw that the seat was burnt due to the extreme heat, the seat melted, it had three small holes and one bigger. I am just concerned that my car could’ve burned while I was driving, due to the malfunction of the heated seats.
My car goes into a false neutral and shifts out of gear while driving. The "PRNDS" indicator on dash had a blinking "D" alternating with a wrench. I have to come to a complete stop turn the car off and right back on and it goes away for about 5-10 minutes only to reoccur. This started happening when weather became hot, and only occurs after driving for an hour or more. Only when hot outside. I performed transmission fluid service with no resolve. There was no debris in the old fluid to indicate mechanical issues. I also get error code P2711- "unexpected mechanical failure". This has almost caused me to wreck several times putting my life and others at risk until I turn car off and immediatly restart engine which allows normal operation for a few minutes. It doesn't operate normally until car cools down. My engine is not overheating. My transmission fluid, and coolant services are current. NHTSA safety recall 09V333000 addressed this exact same issue on 20 August 2009 but it only covers model years 2009 and 2010. This is still a well known problem for the VW DSG transmission experienced by many others. VW said that they couldn't help me even though it's the same issue because my car is a 2012, and it only covers 2009-2010? I am a Disabled Veteran with a heart condition and can't afford to be on the side of the road in the heat without severe health issues.
The vehicle has 37444 miles on it and the front driver side coil spring was laying broken off partially by the front wheel well when I went to move vehicles around (The vehicle was sitting, not driving when the coil broke, which really is curious). I reported the issue to VW customer care tonight (9/6/22) and they said that it was outside of warranty-Essentially nothing they could do. The complaint number is 05384519, and the rep I spoke with is named Tara. This is not something that should happen with a front coil spring (maybe sagging at 100k+) and seems indicative of bad heat treat. There are other complaints filed with NHTSA regarding this same issue on VWs of the same era. If this had happened while driving, it could’ve caused a catastrophic failure and a pretty significant accident if the tire was hit.
While my wife was exiting off of I-75 approaching the traffic light to turn left, the sun roof exploded into pieces. Large and small pieces of glass were scattered throughout the car. The approximate speed was 40 MPH. Luckily she was not hurt or got any glass in her eyes. My name is [XXX] (Husband) and cell phone # is [XXX]. The motor abruptly shut off while driving. Within 20 seconds the inside of the car filled with smoke and shortly thereafter there were visible flames seen through the front grill. Fire spread and fully engulfed the car. Flames extended 20 feet. Fire dept and police responded. The vehicle was a total loss.
00927 - Terminal 30 (Right) 011 - Open Circuit 01516 - Terminal 30; Left 011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent I believe this is a major fire hazard and also will leave you stranded. Broken front coil spring. It is available for inspection Broken spring can dislodge potentially causing a tire rupture and steering issue Also occurred on my other previously owned 2012 VW Eos where both front coil springs broke within 6 mo. of each other. That vehicle had around 60K miles. No No
VW RECALL69L2 AIRBAG -CLOCK SPRING FAILURE NHRSA CAMPAIN #15V483000
WHILE DRIVING A 2012 VW EOS, THE ENGINE STUMBLED AND UNLOADED TONS OF SMOKE OUT OF THE REAR OF THE CAR. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND CAUSED A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTOR, WHICH HAPPENS TO BE UNDER WARRANTY FOR 120,000 MILES. THE ISSUE I HAVE IS THAT VW WILL NOT PROACTIVELY REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTORS, POTENTIALLY CAUSING 3 MORE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN A FUEL INJECTOR FAILS THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY OF A CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE DUE TO THE ENGINE MISFIRE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME AND VW WOULD NOT COVER THE FAILURE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER - WHICH SEEMS UNFAIR, ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF VW'S ISSUE WITH ITS RECENT EMISSION SCANDAL. I HAD 2 INDEPENDENT MECHANICS VERIFY THE IMPACT A FAILED FUEL INJECTOR HAS, YET MY VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP DID NOT AGREE MINE WAS CAUSED BY A FAILED INJECTOR.
TIMING BELT ADJUSTER FAILED, LOST OIL PRESSURE AND AND DAMAGED VALVES. THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. 69664 MILES.
TAKATA RECALL. RECALLED OCTOBER 2018 FOR REPLACING THE AIRBAG UNIT, RECALL COMPLETED. IN NOV. DEC. 2018 RECEIVED PHONE CALLS TELLING US THE WRONG PART HAD BEEN FITTED AND WE SHOULD RETURN TO THE DEALER JOSEPH VW 3813 MONTGOMERY ROAD, CINCINNATI OHIO 45212. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER WHO AFTER 2 1/2 HOURS COULD NOT GET THE WRONG PART OFF. DEALER TO CONTACT VW FOR INSTRUCTIONS. CAME BACK NEXT DAY TO COLLECT THE CAR. I FOUND THAT BACK IN OCTOBER A NEW AIR BAG ASSEMBLY HAD BEEN FITTED WHICH WAS THE CORRECT PART. THE WRONG PART WAS INFACT THAT ONLY A NEW IGNITER WAS TO BE FITTED. THE DEALER CLAIMED HE HAD KEPT THE OLD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY, REMOVED THE NEW ASSEMBLY FROM THE VEHICLE AND CHANGED THE IGNITER FROM THE NEW ASSEMBLY TO THE OLD ASSEMBLY AND REINSTALLED THE OLD ASSEMBLY. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE MECHANIC COULD NOT GET THE PART OFF WHICH WAS STUCK TO THE ASSEMBLY. TO REINSTALL THE NEW IGNITER IT NEEDED MODIFICATION WHICH THE MECHANIC UNDERTOOK AND REPLACED WITH AN UNCALIBRATED TORQUE WRENCH. I REFUSED TO SIGN THE ORIGINAL INVOICE AND ONLY SIGNED WHEN I CORRECTED THE WORDING. MY WIFE WHO DRIVES THE CAR IS CONCERNED THAT THIS MIS MATCH OF MODIFIED PARTS IS STILL LESS THAN 100% SAFE AND WILL NOT DRIVE OUR GRANDCHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL. *TR THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE AIRBAG AT NO CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER. *TR*JS
2012 VOLKSWAGEN EOS KOMFORT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO VEHICLE AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED SINCE THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS COMPLETED, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 VOLKSWAGEN EOS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE SUN ROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT RECEIVED MINOR CUTS AND GLASS WAS EMBEDDED INTO HER SKIN DUE TO THE FAILURE, BUT MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.
VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE AT LOW IDLE OR STOPPED. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF FIXING THIS ISSUE AT THE DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO IDENTIFY AND CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP FIRST REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS, TWO MOTHS LATER WHEN THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED THEY REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND TWO MONTHS LATER THE CAR IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. ON TWO OCCASIONS MY CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
MY 2012 VW EOS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP. THE TIMING CHANGE COMPLETELY MALFUCTION BY MECHANICAL FAILURE. THE CAR HAS HAD ALL SERVICES, GREAT CONDITION AND ONLY 55,000 MILES. COST TO REPAIR THE CAR IS OVER $3,000.
TAKATA RECALL - WE WENT TO VW DEALER OF VAN NUYS ON AUG 17, 2018 AND THEY STATED THAT PART HAVE BEEN SPECIAL ORDER. I HAVE FOLLOWED UP WITH PHONE CALLS TO DEALER ON DEC 26, 2018 AND THEY STATED TO CALL BACK IN 2 WEEK, SO WE FOLLOWED UP ON 1/3/19 AND STILL ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER WITH NO ESTIMATE DATE OF ARRIVAL.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CONTACTED TOM BUSH VOLKSWAGEN IN JACKSONVILLE FL TWICE REGARDING THE REPAIR FOR THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE AFTER AUGUST 5 2018. TO DATE, I STILL AM UNABLE TO HAVE THIS RECALL REPAIR COMPLETED AS I AM TOLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.

DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 50+ AND THE TRANSMISSION QUIT( LIKE WE WERE IN NEUTRAL ). HAD TO MANEUVER ACROSS TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. RESTARTED AND VEHICLE DROVE FINE TIL NEXT DAY AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN.CODE WAS CHECKED AND IT SAID NO COMMUNICATION WITH TRANSMISSION MODULE I'M THE SECOND OWNER AND THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 78,000 MILES
THE 'ENGINE' LIGHT COMES ON. CODE P025C COMES UP. INDICATING FUEL PUMP MODULE CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW " VEHICLE IS RUNNING WELL . MECHANIC 'SAYS' THE FUEL SENSOR AT THE GAS CAP MAY BE MALFUNCTIONING. IS THE GAS CAP SENSOR PART OF THE FUEL PUMP? CAN THE GAS CAP SENSOR BE REPLACED WITHOUT REPLACING THE WHOLE FUEL PUMP ? TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP IS ATLEAST $207 PLUS LABOR. I TOOK MY 2012 VW EOS TO THEM FOR A CLOCK SPRING FAILURE WHICH IS UNDER A RECALL. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE THEY PUT A DUST COVER OVER THE CLOCK SPRING IN 2015. I TOLD THE THAT THERE IS NO WAY THE MECHANIC WHO DID THE WORK COULD GUARANTEE THAT NO DEBRIS GOT INTO THE CLOCK SPRING DURING THE 3 YEARS PRIOR TO THE DUST COVER BEING INSTALLED. I ALSO TOLD THEM THAT THE FEDS OPENED ANOTHER INVESTIGATION IN OCT 2017 FOR VW NOT DOING ENOUGH TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE POORLY DESIGNED PART IN 2015. I TOLD THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS AND HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO. HE SAID THAT WHEN THE DUST COVER WAS PUT ON THEY NEVER GOT CLOSE TO THE CLOCK SPRING. I TOLD HIM THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO GET CLOSE TO THE CLOCK SPRING BECAUSE DEBRIS HAD ALREADY GOTTEN INTO THE CLOCK SPRING DURING THE 3 YEARS PRIOR TO IT BEING INSTALLED WHICH COMPROMISED THE CLOCK SPRING LEADING TO THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE CLOCK SPRING. I DON'T KNOW IF HE UNDERSTOOD WHAT I WAS SAYING OR WAS JUST BLOWING ME OFF.
THE VW SAFETY RECALL 15V483 - SAFETY RECALL 69L2 ON THE CLOCK SPRING- VW DID THEIR "FIX" WHEN I TOOK IT IN 2016, HOWEVER THE STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING WENT BAD (LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHEN BACKING UP- ALSO CONTROLS STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS SUCH AS CRUISE CONTROL) STILL- WHEN I CONTACTED VW SERVICE THEY RAN MY VIN AND STATED THE PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OF UNDER THE 2016 RECALL AND IT WOULD ONLY BE FIXED FOR COST. - OBVIOUSLY IT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF IT. I TOOK IT INTO A PRIVATE VENDOR OF GERMAN CARS WHO REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING - TOTAL COST $543.98 I FEEL THAT VW NEEDS TO EXPAND THIS RECALL AS THEY DIDN'T DO ENOUGH
AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT ON 12/29/17, NOT QUITE 3 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE CLOCK SPRING FAILED, WHICH MEANT NO AIRBAGS. SINCE I KNEW THIS WAS PREVIOUSLY AN ISSUE, I CONTACTED VW DIRECTLY SINCE THE RECALL WAS NOT COMING UP AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PART HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY FIXED IN 2016 UNDER THE RECALL, AND EVEN THOUGH THE PART FAILED AGAIN IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS, IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

THE CONTACT CALLED SUNNYVALE VOLKSWAGEN (1025 E EL CAMINO REAL, SUNNYVALE, CA 94087) AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FRACTURED AND DESTROYED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. I HAVE A 2012 VW EOS WITH 75,000 MILES, MAINTAINED REGULARLY. LAST MONTH THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED AND FELL INTO THE ENGINE WHILE IT WAS MOVING, DESTROYING THE REMAINDER OF THE ENGINE (LOST COMPRESSION ON 3 OF 4 CYLINDERS, ENGINE REPLACEMENT WAS $6,980 WITH MY PRIVATE MECHANIC-NO USED ENGINES ARE AVAILABLE NATIONWIDE SO I HAD TO PURCHASE NEW). THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO OTHERS ON THE INTERNET. I CONTACTED VW CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHO SAID IT WAS NOT RECALLED. THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AFFECTING OTHERS AND ONE PRIVATE LAWSUIT IN NJ. I SPOKE TO AN ATTORNEY AND PERSONAL LAW SUIT WILL BE TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME. NOTE ALSO, I CALLED NHTSA IN SEPTEMBER AND FILED A COMPLIANT OVER THE PHONE--I ADDED MY COMPLIANT AT THAT TIME BUT IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE REGISTERED ON THIS NHTSA WEBSITE.
MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND THEN CLUNKS INTO GEAR. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AT THE END OF APRIL 2017. I TOOK IT TO THE VW DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE "WARRANTY" RAN OUT AT 60,000 MILES, I HAVE 64,000 MILES ON IT. THEY WANT $7100 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND VW HEADQUARTERS REFUSES TO OFFER ANY HELP AT ALL.

TAKATA RECALL IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR. TODAY, BEFORE FILING THIS, I CALLED THE DEALER ONE LAST TIME TO CHECK ON REMEDY. THEY SAID THE PART WAS IN, COME ON DOWN IT WILL ONLY TAKE AN HOUR. I DROVE THE 20 MILES ONLY TO BE TOLD, "SORRY, THERE'S STILL NO REMEDY FOR YOUR MODEL." I'VE BEEN FORCED TO DRIVE A CAR THAT VW KNOWS COULD EXPLODE IN MY FACE. NO OPTIONS WERE OFFERED.
I WAS TRYING TO MERGE ONTO EXPRESSWAY TRAFFIC AND WHEN I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WAS UNRESPONSIVE. IT CREATED AN UNSAFE SITUATION WHERE I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES AND LET THE TRAFFIC PASS BY, THEN I PUT THE CAR IN MANUAL SHIFT SO THAT I COULD ACCELERATE ENOUGH TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. THE INABILITY TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE HAPPENS USUALLY AROUND SPEEDS OF 55 TO 65 MILES AN HOUR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAS A DELAY THAT TAKES 1 OR 2 SECONDS WHEN GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED AND CAR START SHAKING. THIS RESULTS IN A LOSE OF POWER AND DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE IN EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.

TAKATA RECALL DEALER HAS NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AND CANNOT TELL ME WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. VW WILL NOT PROVIDE A LOANER SO I EITHER DO NOT DRIVE OR RENT A CAR MYSELF FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG! MY WIFE IS DISABLED AND CANNOT USE THE REAR SEAT.

THE 2.0T TSI ENGINE WAS MADE WITH A FAULTY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WHICH WILL FAIL AND CAUSE THE TIMING CHAIN TO BREAK CAUSING IMMEDIATE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE PUTTING THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS IN DANGER BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER AND DIFFICULTY STEERING. FORTUNATELY FOR US, THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS STARTED AND PARKED IN OUR GARAGE.
TAKATA INFLATORS: NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET, BUT SINCE THE RECALL SAYS THAT SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH MAY OCCUR BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY AIRBAG I AM CONCERNED THAT IT HAS TAKEN SO LONG AND WE STILL DO NOT HAVE ANY INDICATION OF WHEN THIS WILL BE FIXED.

MY 2012 VW EOS HAD A TENSIONER CHAIN JUMP 5 TEETH WITH NO WARNING. AND NOW THAT IS SUPPOSED TO COST MY OVER 4,000$ TO REPAIR ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP I HAD IT TOWED TO FROM MY HOUSE. I TRIED TO START IT AND IT JUST WOULDN'T START. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SOLD ME A NEW BATTERY, CHARGED ME A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO TELL ME THAT THIS FAULTY PART IS WHAT CAUSED IT. THE CAR ONLY HAD ABOUT 80K MILES ON IT WITH VERY REGULAR SERVICING AND I BELIEVE THERE IS A SYSTEMIC ISSUE GOING ON HERE. PLEASE ASSIST.

THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND ARE A THREAT TO LIFE IF THEY DEPLOY. I BOUGHT OUT MY LEASE TWO YEARS AGO AND I BELIEVE THEY KNEW OF THIS ISSUE BUT LET ME BUY THE CAR ANYWAY. ALSO, THE RECALL JUST SAID THE AIRBAG DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY, NOT THAT SHARDS OF METAL COULD KILL ME IF IT DEPLOYED. I ONLY LEARNED THIS SATURDAY WHILE AT THE DEALER AFTER I PUT OVER $300 FIXING THE START BUTTON AND $700 PUTTING ON NEW TIRES. THE DEALER SAID HE WOULD BUY MY CAR FOR $12,000 ONLY IF I BOUGHT ANOTHER VW. THIS CAR IS A THREAT TO MY LIFE AND I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE IT. PLEASE TAKE ACTION SO WE ARE NOT FORCED TO GAMBLE WITH OUR LIVES WHILE DRIVING A VEHICLE WE BOUGHT AND MAINTAINED IN GOOD FAITH!
