I brought my car to the Volkswagen garage because there was a problem with the software, mainly the GPS was off. The location shown was 1 mile away. After 10 days in the garage, I asked if I could take it back and the case remained open because the problem was not resolved. I was pulling back my car in front of the house to unload groceries and it did not stop, damaged the garage door. Several people complained about this problem on the web, when the car is in reverse, and it seems that a software update can fix it.
At 43k miles, 90F outside temps, battery SOC at 20%, charged the car at a fast charger getting 140kw. Daytime Running Lights, DRL, were on. After the charging session was over at 80%, the driver's side DRL went and stayed dim. Dealership replaced the entire headlight under warranty. At 77k miles, 94F outside temps, battery SOC at 20%, using a fast charger and getting 145kw with DRL left on. After the charging session was over at 80%, the passenger's DRL went and stayed dim. I normally turn off the DRL and forgot this one time.
The front wheel assembly detached from the vehicle while I was driving. The vehicle is a Volkswagen ID.4 currently under lease. Prior to the incident, the vehicle had multiple wheel alignment services performed by an authorized Volkswagen dealership on May 24, 2025 and August 11, 2025. After the wheel detached on February 1st, 2026, the vehicle was towed and repaired by an independent repair shop. The vehicle and repaired wheel assembly may still be available for inspection if requested. The wheel detached while the vehicle was traveling on a public street, which caused an immediate loss of control and created a serious risk of collision and injury to myself and other road users. The vehicle could not be driven and required a tow. A police officer assisted at the scene in arranging a tow truck because the vehicle was immobilized.
My 2022 VW ID.4 Pro S has experienced a total failure of the GPS and telematics system (J949 module), causing a dangerous 'GPS Drift' where the vehicle reports its location miles away from its actual position. This creates two severe safety hazards: Automated System Malfunction: The Travel Assist and Dynamic Road Sign systems are receiving conflicting data. The camera correctly identifies a speed limit (e.g., 40 mph), but the faulty GPS overrides it with incorrect map data (e.g., 25 mph). This causes the vehicle to unexpectedly and dangerously decelerate while in active traffic. Emergency Service Failure: The eCall (Emergency Call) system is reporting the wrong location. In the event of a serious crash, emergency responders would be directed to a location miles away from the actual accident site. My dealer provided written documentation (attached) stating there is 'NO FIX' currently for 2021-2023 models, as they are hardware-locked to a failing Verizon-based data protocol that VW has not patched. The manufacturer has acknowledged the defect but offers no remedy for this safety-critical system.
On [XXX], my 2022 Volkswagen I.D. 4 burst into flames and exploded while it was parked in my apartment complex parking structure ([XXX] ). My car was completely engulfed in flames, nearby cars as well as the parking structure experienced heat damage. My life and others were put in danger because even though my car was electric, it was parked in a resident garage near other cars who are gas operated, which could have caused an even more catastrophic damage if the fire would've spread more. Dallas Fire Department was present, and a fire report was conducted (Incident number #[XXX]). As of today, the vehicle has only been inspected by the Dallas Fire department, as well as a virtual video meeting with my insurance agent from Allstate. Before the incident the car charged normally, was operating normally and there was no indication or warning signs to indicate that there were any issues that would have caused this. I understand Tesla started this trend of reducing horsepower based on the car's State Of Charge; however, there's times when having access to full horsepower can help collisions, especially rear end collisions. My car gets full horsepower when it's SOC is at 90-100%. Then is gets less as the SOC gets lower. It should get 100% horsepower regardless of SOC when stepping down on the pedal 100% to where I can fell a switch is being pressed. At freeway on ramps when I'm trying to merge, when my car's SOCis at 30%, it drives slower than at 80% and more obvious at 100%.
Subject: Request for Investigation and Recall – Door Handle Failure on Volkswagen Vehicle Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am writing to formally request an investigation and potential recall concerning a serious safety issue with my 2022 ID.4 AWD Pro S Volkswagen vehicle. The problem involves the door handles failing to open from either the inside or outside of the vehicle. I can provide video evidence showing that, while the vehicle is fully unlocked, with no child safety mechanisms engaged and my foot on the brake at a complete stop, the doors cannot be opened from either the front or rear seats. This issue occurs repeatedly—approximately four to five times per week—and has become more frequent since the “919” recall was performed on the vehicle. Despite this, the dealership has stated that the issue is a “non-issue,” claiming that other vehicles of the same model exhibit similar behavior. The inability to open a vehicle door in normal operating conditions is a serious safety concern that could endanger occupants in an emergency situation. Volkswagen’s response minimizes a clear risk to consumer safety. If the software controlling door operation cannot be relied upon to perform such a critical function, it should be removed or replaced with a mechanical mechanism that guarantees the ability to open the door at all times. I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate this matter and determine whether a recall or corrective action is warranted. Thank you for your attention to this important safety concern. Please let me know if additional documentation or video evidence would be helpful to your investigation. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S AWD [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
1. I still can't make sense of what exactly malfunctioned at my car accident on 9/26/2025 but I have reported to the Volkswagen Customer Service on 9/27/2025 and they couldn't give me a precise answer and told me they will have to research and call me back yesterday - 9/30/2025 but I haven't got a call as of this writing. It basically activated something that accelerated suddenly the car and it is like someone took control over the car causing me to crash with 2 cars in front of me. Yes, it is available for inspection. 2. I don't feel safe anymore with that car and also I am terrified that innocent people's lives will be put at risk. 3. I have seen some articles around the internet with the same experience that I had and it looks like Volkswagen has a law suit about it. 4. No, but I have reported to 911 and my insurance. 5. No, there's no any warning on the car dashboard before this incident happened.
The airbag sensor turns on and off, "airbag error", the charging door plate fell of the car while driving in the freeway
My Volkswagen ID 4 Dashboard display constantly gets rebooted in his black while I’m driving. I had the same issue last year, but in that issue, even though speedometer was not visible, Fortunately, I’m not Seeing a black screen Behind steering wheel But the main console gets constantly rebooted and all black, CarPlay does not work and it’s a big distraction when when I’m driving and a big safety risk, My calls get constantly dropped, and The entire center dashboard just keeps getting rebooted every two seconds and flickers
[XXX] [XXX] September 14, 2025 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Office of Defects Investigation 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE Washington, DC 20590 Subject: Formal Complaint – Safety Defect in 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 (Power Steering and Brake Failure) Dear Sir or Madam, I am submitting this formal complaint regarding a serious safety defect in my 2022 Volkswagen ID.4, which resulted in a crash and a minor injury to my wife. This defect poses a substantial risk of death or serious injury to the driving public. On [XXX], my wife experienced sudden unintended acceleration, followed immediately by complete loss of braking and steering control. She was unable to avoid leaving the roadway and entered a ditch, sustaining a minor injury. The vehicle suffered fender damage. The vehicle was towed to our authorized Volkswagen dealership. The dealership’s technician documented that the power steering module failed. However, Volkswagen of America subsequently dispatched an engineer, who instructed the dealer not to communicate further with us. Volkswagen headquarters later claimed the power steering module failed only because the vehicle entered the ditch—an explanation directly at odds with the technician’s report and a witness account. Volkswagen has refused to accept responsibility, declined to cover medical or repair costs, and denied replacement of the failed power steering module. Our insurance provider also declined coverage, determining that the accident was caused by a mechanical failure. Legal and Regulatory References 1.49 U.S.C. § 30118 – Motor Vehicle Safety Act Requires manufacturers to notify NHTSA and vehicle owners when they determine a motor vehicle contains a defect related to motor vehicle safety. The failure of the power steering and braking systems clearly qualifies as a “safety-related defect” because it directly compromises steering and stopping ability. 2.49 C.F.R. After the 3.5 software update OTAthe airbag error showed up and I am reading on forums that multiple folks have this issue but no recall
When my car starts in ECO mode, meaning ECO mode was the last setting on my last drive, the car appears to drive in ECO mode given the pedal's delay in power; however, on freeways, it can easily go pass 80mph, which it isn't supposed to. Then when I change my car mode to any other mode after starting my car in ECO mode, so Comfort, Sport, etc, and then switching back to ECO mode, I noticed the pedal now has more resistance then it did before. It feels like now, it's 100% ECO mode because I get way better efficiency now. For example, yesterday, when I drove to work and my car started up on ECO mode, it took 6% to get to work. Today, after starting up my car when it is already in ECO mode from the last drive, then switching to comfort or sport mode, then back to ECO mode, it took 4% to get to work. Both drives are on the same road, same speed limit and AC set at 70F for the entire drive for both days.
My 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 is impacted by three separate recalls. I scheduled repair at my only local dealership. On the day of appointment, I was turned away by the dealer, stating that only one EV (electric vehicle) mechanic was employed, and he had been assigned other tasks. No reasonable accommodation was made by the dealer or manufacturer to resolve, leaving my recalls unresolved.
The automatic cruise control failed and disengage with a sudden braking. After that the following warnings appear: Front assist has limited availability, rear traffic is currently not available, proximity sensors malfunctioning. I took the vehicle to service and diagnostic suggested the replacement of brake booster. Service department recommended a replacement a cost of $2,800 as the vehicle is out of warranty (more than 50K miles), I paid $295 for diagnostic. I currently don't have the funds for repair. Failure of braking system is a serious matter. I am not sure if I should continue driving this car, unfortunately I need it to go to work.
I use this car for work daily, see patients in their homes. The driver door won’t locked, for 2 consecutive days and this is not the first time incident. Whenever this happens, I notify the dealer but they said VW does not have repair/solution to it yet. So, the car’s safety features (emergency braking, lane departure assist, adaptive cruise control and etc) are not functional. This makes it dangerous for us/drivers. Because the door is unlocked and car is running, it sends signals/sounds warning the door is unlocked. It is terrifying driving the car while it’s raining. I am unsure if the car will suddenly stop. Also, the anti-fog doesn’t work unless I turn on the heater which reduces my mileage. I can barely see the road when it’s pouring rain. The car doesn’t charge to its usual 200 miles at 80% (recommended), only charging 180 miles at 90%. Hope you can help me please as I am the bread winner in the family. We do not have extra budget to get another car. Our old 2010 Prius is only good in town, not in major highways. If something happens to me due to this car’s manufacturing faults, my husband and child will be left destitute and end up homeless. Thank you for your assistance.
The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V651000 (Structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Some lights come on and off without buttons being pressed. Door click. Doesn’t consistently lock or unlock. Center console turns off with no notice.
Electrical gremlins present at time of purchase (3/14/2025). Entered service and repair on 3/17/2025 and remained for 30-45 days. Upon coming to retrieve vehicle electrical malfunctions still present upon entering vehicle in the service bay, alerted advisor. Car was checked back into service immediately and remained for 60-90 days. Between March and December I have had continuous electrical gremlins present from Dashboard and display malfunction, interior lights malfunction, trunk/doors/locks/windows malfunction to no end and no repair in sight. This specific vehicle is a lemon and riddled with irreparable electrical gremlins, it has cost me significant income loss and loss of faith in the reliability of Volkswagen brand that I love so much.
I was turning into a parking spot in front of the entry doors to a Sheetz convenience store. I was slowing down, and had gotten halfway into the space. All of a sudden, the car surged forward, went over the curb and hit the bollard in front of the parking space. It was hit with such force that the bollard bent and went under our car. My memory is that I was pressing on the brake very hard, once the acceleration started. My husband was in the car with me and can attest to all that I have stated. If that bollard had not been there, and stopped my car, I feel certain that my car would have crashed into the store, seriously injuring (or killing) us and those inside the store. We are planning to report the accident to Volkswagen, and to request that they test the "black box" inside the car, to see if they can find out what went wrong. I have spoken to someone in the Sheetz corporate office , and she told me that they have a video recording of the event. She said she observed my car entering the parking space very slowly, and that the car suddenly accelerated. She is planning to provide that video to State Farm Insurance, our insurance company. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures, myself, of the damage to the front of the car. But we will be requesting that the collision repair shop take pictures before the car gets dismantled for repair. We do not recall hearing any warning signals of the impending crash, and certainly did not experience any emergency braking. The airbags did not deploy.
I purchased this vehicle on [XXX] from Sunnyvale Volkswagen and have experienced ongoing issues with the electrical system, infotainment, safety features, and OTA software updates. In early 2023, all error lights came on while driving, followed by a complete electrical system failure. The car would not restart until the next day. In 2024 and again in 2025, the center screen went completely black, disabling the rearview camera, hands-free navigation, climate control, and car settings. Restart attempts failed. On Feb 26, 2025, I accepted an OTA software update, which failed. I tried again on Feb 27. When I returned to the car later that day, the update was still running. The next day, the car would not unlock with either key. I tried the manual key over an hour and hundred times, which eventually worked, but the keys still weren’t recognized. I replaced both key batteries with new ones from the store (one key was spare hence never used), but the issue persisted. After several days of the same issue and hours of failed attempts, I was finally able to start the car and drive it to Sunnyvale VW on March 3rd. They acknowledged the issue and replaced both key batteries again with OEM ones, which temporarily resolved the problem. On March 25, I was contacted by Stevens Creek Volkswagen to address two open recalls. I scheduled an appointment for March 31 at 9am and called on March 30 to confirm. Despite the confirmation and their having a note for a loaner from the manager, I was told upon arrival—after waiting 15 minutes—that parts were unavailable and they couldn’t perform the repairs. I was told I’d be contacted when parts arrive, the same excuse I’ve heard since the recall opened a year ago. My safety recall remains unresolved. This vehicle has proven unreliable and unsafe for my family. I am requesting a full replacement of this lemon with a brand-new vehicle as soon as possible. Manufacturer has failed to fix the recall problem in a timely manner. There is a long wait list at every dealership to get the recall fixed and no dealership knows when they will get the door handles in. Recall 57J9- Door Handles
-car had large fuse blown while charging causing electrical failure.
I took the car to the Dealership for recalls (#1 Cochoran VW, Wexford, PA) on [XXX]. The dealership has not been able to complete the repair and the car has been at the dealership for almost three months. The dealership employees have been in contact with Volkswagen of America and with individuals in Germany but to no satisfaction. We have spent several hundred dollars on gasoline that we would not have spent as the car in question is an EV (VW ID-4 Model year 2022 with 31,000 miles. We are now fearful that the car will be returned to us in an unsafe condition and are even fearful to get NHTSA involved as the company may hurriedly return the vehicle to us without completing the "RECALL". The contact owned a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 The contact stated while the driver was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated causing the vehicle to veer off the road, and control was lost. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a ditch, over a sound barrier, and in the middle of a neighborhood road where it came to a stop. The air bags did deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. The driver suffered a mild brain injury, lung injury, and fractured ribs that required medical attention. The driver had an occupant in the vehicle during the failure who was his son and sustained a fractured femur that required surgery, a fractured clavicle, brain damage, and a mild concussion that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an impound lot. The insurance company was currently inspecting the vehicle and pending results. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
**Summary of Complaint:** A clicking sound occurs randomly during acceleration, deceleration, and when driving over bumpy roads. Despite bringing the vehicle to an authorized Volkswagen (VW) dealer three times, they were unable to diagnose or resolve the issue. The vehicle is only 2.5 years old and still under warranty. **Detailed Description:** 1. **Symptoms:** A random clicking sound is heard under the following conditions: - When accelerating - When decelerating - While driving on uneven or bumpy roads 2. **Attempts to Resolve:** The vehicle was brought to a VW dealership on three separate occasions. Despite their inspections, they were unable to identify the source of the problem. 3. **Vehicle Details:** The car is relatively new, only 2.5 years old, and remains within the manufacturer's warranty period. 4. **Concerns:** The unresolved issue may pose a safety risk, particularly if the sound is related to critical drivetrain or suspension components. Additionally, repeated unsuccessful repair attempts by the dealer are frustrating. **Resolution Sought:** I would like the NHTSA to review this issue and investigate whether this is a broader concern with similar VW models. I hope VW can be held accountable for properly diagnosing and fixing the problem under warranty.
The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V651000 (Structure) and 24V344000 (Back Over Prevention, Equipment, Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel became inoperable. The contact stated that the instrument panel was blank. The contact restarted the vehicle for the instrument panel to function as needed. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer denied a buyback option for the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 16,600. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Software issues and door handle recall that VW has no fix
My vehicle is at 30k miles and the front 2 tires are showing signs of a huge tire quality issue. They are Bridgestone Alenza tires. Looking online this appears to be a huge common problem. The outside 1/4 of the tire tread has chunks missing that are roughly 1/2"long x 1/2" wide x 1/8" deep spots. This kind of wear pattern appears to be around the whole tire circumference and on both tires.
In the VW ID.4, one can retract the rear-view mirrors, making the car a bit narrower, for example for parking. Multiple times, I have started the car and been unable to extend the rear-view mirrors. Not only can I not use the rear-view mirrors, but also, I am distracted trying to figure out how to make them extend. For example, I turn the switch multiple times and failing that, I LOOK at the switch (instead of the road) to verify that I am moving the correct item. This problem has been temporarily mitigated by pulling over, turning off the car, and re-starting it.
While exiting/entering from one highway to another, I was slowing down vehicle in curved ramp area to approximately 35mph from 65mph. The car's driver display (a warning banner) indicated that I had insufficient battery and that I should stop the vehicle. The battery was at 65%. I coasted vehicle to right shoulder of road. Steering was difficult. This area of highway access was under construction and I had a very limited space to stop car. The car then lost drive and stopped. Although I was in a narrow shoulder area, there were cars traveling behind me in ramp area. I put on hazard lights as a warning of my stopped vehicle so I would avoid getting hit. I waited 1 minute to re-start vehicle. Car re-started without faults or warning indicators and I was able to travel home.
For the past couple of months, noticing an issue where the main Display in center and also Dashboard above the steering wheel goes pitch black with nothing being displayed while driving. A few times, I was driving on the highway and all screens were black, I could not see what speed I was going at. #2: CarPlay is constantly rebooting every 2 seconds, disconnecting and connecting but e not continuously connected #3 CarPlay automatically connects when I am not in the car but in the living room. None of this observations happened in the first 2 years of my ownership but happening now, I have taken an appt with VW dealer but issue is intermittent, it just goes away without me doing anything.
The door locks failed again on the same door that had opened while in motion in December of 2023. This time the door failed to open when trying to exit the car. Also while driving it kept clicking inside as it was trying to open while vehicle was in motion. This occurred Mid September 2024. Also the ADAS system failed while driving and car wanted to steer on wrong way had to fight with the steering. This was also addressed in 2023. This car had all recalled done related to doors and had two failures in less then a year. This car is a safety risk to people. I have documentation to support all these findings.
The dashboard and user interface for the vehicle resets, crashes, reboots, crashes and reboots while driving constantly. The dash and entire console is affected. We have had it serviced at least three times for this issue and it has not been remedied even though VW has done full module replacements. The doors also unlock and lock and unlock and lock repeatedly. We no longer feel safe driving the vehicle because the center console will not remain on for more than a few minutes before starting a crash-reboot cycle.
I’ve had a recall on this car for over 4 months and the dealership/brand hasn’t been able to fix the car yet. I recently got another recall that looks it won’t be fixed because, as the first one, the repairs are not yet available. The dashboard and the screen every now and then will go off and reset as if I was turning the car on. It has happened when the car is moving. My car is loosing value due to this recalls because it’s reported and I don’t feel safe driving and thinking that the car might suddenly go off in the middle of the road
The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the main instrument panel screen shut off. The contact restarted the vehicle and the instrument panel screen started working as designed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
Was coming to stopped traffic, suddenly car accelerated quickly and rear ended car in front, which then hit 2 cars in front. Event data recorder showed the acceleration; not sure what happened. Car has haptic button for adaptive cruise control and ? Engaged on resume button left side of steering wheel. VW says not a manufacturing defect. Fortunately no injuries - air bags did not deploy.
Car door opened on its own. Sometimes infotainment display goes black and becomes unusable.
The seals/bonding on the rear right tail light assembly failed under normal use. Water has recently accumulated in the assembly and caused part of the taillight to stop functioning. In addition to apparent defect in integrity of the light housing, it is likely that there is a secondary defect in the conformal coating that lead to the water being able to damage the light. The internal light monitoring feature also did not detect the failed light element until several days after we identified it was broken. Dealer is attempting to reject coverage for something that should clearly fall under manufacturing and workmanship warranty.
I bought this car brand new in 2022. My car has approximately 13,000 miles of use. It has been used for normal commute with an average use of 25 miles round trip 2-3 times per week in the last year. It was used less frequently in the 1st year. The front tires are shredding from the inside area and the rear tires are going bald.from both edges. I took the car to.a VW dealership and I was told the tires must be replaced to avoid an eventual blow out from any/all 4 tires.
I was parking the car in a parking lot. I turned left into the lot and then turned right into a spot and then decided to switch to the adjacent spot (also requiring me to turn right) to provide me with more room to park and leave the car. As I turned into the spot the car suddenly accelerated forward. I tried pushing the brakes and the car continued to accelerate and hit two fences. No indication of a collision by car, no engagement of the automatic emergency braking. No recognition of the car that there was a fence in front. No automatic braking/warning lamps. The vehicle was inspected only by the insurance agent and body shop for repair.
235/55R19 Both front tires are showing abnormal rubber chunking or flaking off on the inner and outer tread. To avoid a possible failure or blow out, I replaced the tires with another brand and model. Bridgestone will not honor their warranty on these tires and I feel they are at fault. Online reports of blow-outs are fairly common with these tires.
I recently did a 20,000 miles service on my vehicle and was told the Bridgestone Alenza tires I have on the vehicle are at a level unsafe to drive - under 3/32. These are the tires that came with the vehicle. The VW person informed me that these tires are unfit for an EV and VW stopped installing them. I reported this to a friend who has the same car but with 16,000 miles, he got the car checked, and got the same answer- unsafe to operate. There are potentially tens of thousands of ID.4 vehicles out there that came out in 2021 and 2022 that have these tires on, driving on tires that are unsafe to operate because nobody expects tires to be that bad after less than 20k miles. These should be recalled. I have reported this to VW customer service. VW is unwilling to take any responsibility for this issue. They told me to go talk to the manufacturer (Bridgestone).
Vehicle suffers from unintended and sudden acceleration when the "resume' capacitive touch button is accidentally brushed against. The vehicle is subject to injure or kill the vehicles occupants or others struck by the vehicle. Vehicle advised there is "no issue" with the vehicle but they did acknowledge the problem with the design of the steering wheel. The issue is intermittent and has occurred while driving at slow speeds in parking lots when the steering wheel is frequently turned more than 90 degrees and a body part can unintentionally touch the 'Resume" button.
The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted, and a message displayed "Danger - High Voltage Battery Failure". After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that a software update needed to be performed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred months later. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 30.
My backup camera does not work and hasn't worked for almost a year. There is no solution, and it just now got recalled today, but there is no fix. It is incredibly dangerous to drive this car with the reduced size of the rear window plus wide, oversized quarter panels, and no backup camera. Add to this the fact that my driver's side door doesn't open. Not when I'm trying to get in to it and often when I'm trying to get out. I climb over the passenger seat every single time I want to get into the car and sometimes when I want to get out.
While driving on the rt 84 near Hartford CT on July 13th the screen for the car went black and was not usable for some time until it restarted/reset, during this period there was no access to ADAS settings and the parking camera and sensors would not have been usable. This disruptive crash also makes for a dangerous situation where navigation guidance is suddenly no longer available.
My cars screen which is digital and radio screen went blank , I couldn't see anything such as speedometer and could not control my climate air conditioning to clear the windshield. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and turned off my car then when I turned the car back on,,, the screen restarted like a computer and I was able to drive safely.. it happened two times on July and August 2024. My car is brand new when I got it and has approximately 22K mile when it happened, it 25K mile now. I took it to the Volkswagen dealership it they did not take my car to diagnose because they said that their is recall already regarding the issue and their is no fix available at that time ...
The driver's side Daytime Running Light (DRL) suddenly went and stayed dim. It's an amber color now, while the front passenger side is still lit up very brightly. My car had 35,000 miles when this occurred.
Vehicle is dealer to address issues about steering rack failure and control system (speedometer screen and Intelligent touch screen system) blanking. Two weeks ago I nearly crashed into a car in front of me because the car became unresponsive.
