WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE AND IMMEDIATELY STEPPING HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR THERE WAS A SEVERE HESITATION/LAG BEFORE THE CAR TOOK OFF CROSSING TRAFFIC. ONCE IT KICKED IN IT TOOK OFF BUT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I NOW WAIT A SECOND OR MORE FOR THE BRAKE SWITCH TO COMMUNICATE TO THE DSG TRANSMISSION TO TELL THE CLUTCH TO ENGAGE. VW MUST FIX THIS AS I COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVEN IN A COLLISION. THIS WAS MUCH MORE THAN TYPICAL TURBO LAG WHICH IS COMMON WITH DIESELS. THIS WOULD OCCUR REGULARLY IF I DIDN'T ADJUST MY DRIVING TO ACCOUNT FOR THE LAG. *TR
I HAVE 2 CONTINENTAL CONTI PROCONTACT TIRES THAT HAD BUBBLES IN THEM, AND FAILED WHEN I WENT OVER A POTHOLE AND BUMPED A CURB. VW IS ACTING LIKE IT IS A CONTINENTAL TIRE PROBLEM, AND WHILE IT IS, IT IS VW ALSO BECAUSE THEY CHOOSE THOSE TIRES FOR THEIR VEHICLES. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES BECAUSE THEY ARE UNSAFE, AT MY OWN EXPENSE. *TR
THE CAR CHRONICALLY STALLS IN FIRST OR SECOND GEAR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS OR WHEN COASTING. WHEN GIVING IT GAS AND LETTING OUT THE CLUTCH, IT JUST STALLS WITH NO WARNING. HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER JETTA TDI OWNERS AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE SAME PROBLEM
2010 VOLKSWAGON JETTA SPORTWAGON TDI AUTOMATC TRANSMISSION.THE VEHICLE LOSES TOTAL POWER IF THE DRIVER "POWER BRAKES" THE VEHICLE. IE: IF YOU ARE SITTING AT STOP SIGN DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC, LEFT FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND YOU ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE QUICLKY, THE CAR WILL MOVE FORWARD SLIGHTLY AS IF IT STALLED, YOUR FIRST RESPONSE IS TO BRAKE QUICKLY, THINKING THE CAR STALLED, WHEN YOU REALIZE THIS IS NOT THE CASE, THEN ACCELERATE, THIS CAN CREATE THE SAME EFFECT, BECAUSE OF A PANIC SITUATION AND THE FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES, ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS T STYLE COLLISION. I ASKED THE DEALER AND HE CONFIRMED THAT IF THE DRIVER BRAKES AND ACCLERATES AT THE SAME TIME THIS WILL OCCUR. TO DEMONSTRATE THIS FURTHER, I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE WHILE TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND THE CAR SEEMS TO "BRAKE AND LOSE ENORMOUS MOUNT OF POWER". I FEEL AS THOUGH A SAFTEY WARNING SHOULD BE GIVEN DIRECTLY TO THE NEW OWNER OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE, SUCH AS A CAUTION STICKER THAT ANY DRIVER, ESPECIALLY THAT MAY HAVE BORROWED THE VEHICLE, WILL BE AWARE OF THE GRAVE CONSEQUENSES OF POWER BRAKING A VW. DIESEL. IM GLADE THAT THIS HAPPENED TO ME RATHER THAN TO MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER THE OUTCOME MAY NOT HAVE BEEN THE SAME. *TR
LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND STOPPING FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE ONTO THE HIGHWAY BUT CAR DID NOT MOVE. AFTER I PUT MY FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN THE SECOND ATTEMPT THE CLUTCH ENGAGED AND THE CAR MOVED FORWARD. THE CAR IS A 2010 VW JETTA DIESEL. *TR
MY 3 DAY OLD 2010 VW JETTA SPORTWAGEN WITH DSG WAS BEING MOVED IN OUR GARAGE AND IT WON'T ENGAGE IN REVERSE INITIALLY THEN IN ALL GEARS. THE CAR COULD BE LEFT IN GEAR AND NOT MOVE AT ALL. I CALLED THE 24 HOUR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THE CAR WAS TOWED THE DAY AFTER TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT WITH A MECHATRONICS PROBLEM AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS ORDERED AND WE'RE WAITING FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS. IF VW DSG RECALLED THIS IN AUG 2009, WHY ARE WE STILL SEEING THIS SAME PROBLEM IN 2010? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VW JETTA TDI. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND AN UNEXPECTED INCREASE OF PRESSURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WAS ALSO A NOISE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FUEL MOVEMENT IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE FUEL TANK BAFFLE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE FUEL TANK, AND THE FUEL TANK BAFFLE WAS NOT INSTALLED WHICH WOULD PREVENT THE FUEL MOVEMENT IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION IN WHICH THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST RESULTS WERE THE SAME AS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK MET THE REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, MOVED FORWARD AND STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A SENSOR WAS REPLACED (NO MORE INFORMATION WAS GIVEN). THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SUNROOF LEAKED WHEN IT RAINED. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,000.
HAD VOLKSWAGEN 2010 JETTA TDI SERVICED AT VOLKSWAGEN DEALER FOR 20,000 MILE SERVICE, WHICH INCLUDES FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT. 2 DAYS LATER, SMELLED DIESEL FUMES IN GARAGE. OPENED HOOD AND SAW DIESEL FUEL LEAKING FROM FUEL FILTER. (WAS NOT SURE IF IT WAS SPILLED DURING CHANGE BY DEALER) WENT TO INDEPENDENT GARAGE AND WAS TOLD IT IS LEAKING AND NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR: POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD IF DIESEL GETS ON MANIFOLD. I'VE READ SIMILAR DRIVERS COMPLAINT (S) WHERE 2009 JETTA TDI HAS FUEL PUMP FAILURE POSSIBLY AFTER THIS SERVICE AND THEY ALSO HAD THE DIESEL FUEL LEAKING AFTER 20K SERVICE. MINE IS A 2010 JETTA TDI. I WON'T KNOW IF THIS IS AN ERROR OR OMISSION ON THE PART OF THE DEALER OR IF THE REPAIRS WERE DONE CORRECT AND IT'S A DEFECT WITH THE CAR. REGARDLESS, SOMEONE COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED, POSSIBLY KILLED AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. *LN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA SPORTSWAGEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL INJECTOR PUMPED FAILED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED REPEATEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
I HAVE A 2010 US VERSION VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI WITH THE DSG TRANSMISSION. THE CAR HAS AROUND 4500 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WITH THE CAR SINCE DAY #1. THE PROBLEM IS MANIFESTED AS A LURCHING, AND ERRATIC SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION IN GEARS 1 TO 2 AS WELL AS FROM A STOP. EVEN THOUGH I DRIVE WITH A SOFT TOUCH, I CAN RARELY GET A SMOOTH START-OFF BECAUSE OF THE UNPREDICTABLE SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION. ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE IN STOP & GO DRIVING, I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS PHENOMENA MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHILE COMMUTING TO/FROM WORK. *TR
NEW 2010 JETTA SE WITHOUT RAIN SENSOR WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE WIPER SPEED DECREASES WITH THE SPEED OF THE ENGINE AND DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY INCREASE WHEN THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASES. WHEN I SLOWED AS I APPROACHED A YIELD SIGN IN A DRIVING RAIN, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS SLOWED SO MUCH THAT I WAS UNABLE TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD. AS I ACCELERATED, THE SPEED DID NOT RETURN TO THE HIGH LEVEL AND I CONTINUED TO BE UNABLE TO SEE OUT THE WINDOW. A REPAIR WAS ATTEMPTED, THE WIPER MOTOR REPLACED, BUT NO CHANGE HAS RESULTED. I AM TOLD BY VW THAT THIS IS THE NEW DESIGN FOR THE WIPERS AND THERE IS NOTHING TO FIX. *TR
AFTER I CLOSED THE PASSENGER DOOR OF MY 2010 VW JETTA SPORTSWAGEN, THE FORWARD GLASS OF THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING IT TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL VW DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. *TR
HORN IS EXTREMELY HARD TO PRESS AND ACTIVATE. HORN DOES NOT SOUND WITH NORMAL AND TYPICAL PRESSURE TO THE STEERING WHEEL PAD. HORN DOES NOT ACTIVATE EVEN WITH POUNDING TO THE PRESS PAD. HORN HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED TO ACTIVATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO WARN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, BUT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT HAS ADVISED IT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED OR REPAIRED. *TR
WHEN 2010 VW JETTA WITH DSG TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS ENGINE CONTINUES TO HAVE HIGHER RPM'S CREATING A JERKING EFFECT WHEN DECELERATING. WHEN GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP VEHICLE ENGINE DIES. ONLY WAY TO START VEHICLE IS TO TURN IGNITION OFF AND REMOVE KEY AND THEN RESTART VEHICLE. WHEN STOPPED AT RED LIGHT VEHICLE ENGINE DIED UPON PRESSING ACCELERATOR. ONLY WAY TO RESTART VEHICLE IS TO TURN IGNITION OFF, REMOVE KEY AND THEN RESTART VEHICLE. FAILURES OCCUR AT LEAST ONCE A DAY WHETHER VEHICLE IS WARMED UP OR A COLD ENGINE. NO COMMON TIME CAUSES FAILURE. VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO DEALER TWO TIMES FOR SAME FAILURE BUT WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED BY DEALER. THIRD TIME VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO DEALER, FAILURE WAS ABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. MACHATRONIC UNIT WAS ORDERED FOR TRANSMISSION BUT PROBLEM NOT YET COMPLETED. FAILURES BEGAN AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES AND HAVE CONTINUALLY AND GRADUALLY BECOME MORE EXTREME AND FREQUENT. VEHICLE NOW HAS 20000 MILES. *TR
THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN PARK ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL IF ON A HILL. THIS IS ONGOING
2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI SEDAN, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE STALLS FROM START POSITION, THEN CATCHES AND SURGES AHEAD, THROWING DRIVER'S HEAD BACK TO THE HEAD REST. CAR JUMPS AHEAD AND COULD CAUSE REAR END COLLISION TO TRAFFIC IN FRONT. *TR
ON A 2 LANE ROAD ATTEMPTING TO PASS A VEHICLE THERE WAS A SUDDEN JERKING AND BUCKING OF THE CAR. FOR A MOMENT THERE WAS NO POWER TO WHEELS. THE ACTIONS THREW ME FORWARD INTO THE SEATBELT. AFTER A FEW VIOLENT SECONDS IT REGAINED POWER AND I WAS ABLE TO PASS THE OTHER VEHICLE. THERE IS ALSO HARSH DOWNSHIFTING OF THE GEARS AS I APPROACH A STOP. IT IS AS IF I HAVE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. THIS ACTION ALSO THROWS MYSELF AND PASSENGERS FORWARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND SHUDDERS WHEN IT IS COLD. ALSO WHEN COLD,THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE OVER 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WILL DOWN-SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FOUR TIMES. AT THE LAST INSPECTION, THE COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. A LETTER WAS SENT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,600.
I RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING PRIORITY 1 WARNING LIGHT: "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED: STOP! OWNERS MAN," AFTER STOPPING IN FRONT OF MY RESIDENCE TO RETRIEVE MAIL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN A MONTH I HAVE RECEIVED THE WARNING (REFER TO ODI NO. 10283957 FOR INITIAL INCIDENT). I TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE VEHICLE HAD NO ACCELERATION IN BOTH DRIVE AND REVERSE WHILE THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ACTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP AND IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING DIAGNOSIS. AS FAR AS THE INITIAL INCIDENT ON 9/13/2009, VW REPORTED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE, THAT NO FAULT/ERROR CODES WERE FOUND. THEIR REMEDY WAS TO RESET THE BASIC SETTINGS AND ROAD TEST THE VEHICLE - THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS. I HAD THE VEHICLE BACK FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR
HI, WE PURCHASED A 2010 VW JETTA TDI SPORTWAGEN IN SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR AND WITHIN THE FIRST 300 MILES IT WENT INTO A LIMP MODE WITH REDUCED POWER AND THE GLOWPLUG LIGHT WAS FLASHING. I LIMPED HOME AT HALF POWER AND PARKED IT. WHEN I WENT TO START IT TO SEE WHAT THE MILEAGE WAS THE CAR HAD NO PROBLEM. I MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THIS AND THEY BLEW IT OFF AS A FLUKE AND IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO CALL THEM. AT AROUND 750 MILES WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WERE PASSING A CAR WHEN THE CAR AGAIN WENT INTO A REDUCED POWER LIMP MODE AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT SINCE THE PERSON BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDED US. I HAD TO VERY CAREFULLY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT 10:00 PM. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AFTER WAITING 2 MINUTES AND IT STARTED UP AGAIN LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. I CALLED MY DEALER AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO DROP IT OFF TELLING THEM I DON'T WANT IT BACK UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. THEY KEPT IT FOR TWO WEEKS AND DROVE IT AROUND PUTTING 500 MILES ON IT THAT THEY SAID WERE TROUBLE AND EVENT FREE. THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND WHEN THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC THEY FOUND THAT THE EGR VALVE WAS THROWING A CODE. THEY SAID THAT THEY CHECKED IT, CLEARED THE CODE AND THAT'S IT. NOW AFTER ALMOST 10,000 MILES WE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM AGAIN BUT I DO BELIEVE THEY DID A SECRET FIX AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. IT WAS VERY SCARY TO HAVE THE STALLING HAPPEN TO ME OUT OF THE BLUE ON THE HIGHWAY. SOMEONE NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THIS. *TR
ON SUNDAY, SEPT. 13, 2009, WHILE TRAVELING UP A HILL ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70-75 MPH, MY 2010 VW JETTA TDI (AUTO. TRANSMISSION) SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING FLASHED A "TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT" WARNING LIGHT AND I IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER WITHOUT CAUSING A MAJOR TRAFFIC INCIDENT. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE ENGINE OFF AND LETTING IT SITE FOR A FEW MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND HAD NO ADDITIONAL MALFUNCTIONS OR WARNING LIGHTS. HOWEVER, I DID MAKE AN EFFORT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE'S SPEED AT OR BELOW 70 MPH. BASED ON SIMILAR REPORTED INCIDENTS I RESEARCHED ON THE WEB, I CAN POSITIVELY CONFIRM THAT MY VEHICLE SWITCHED INTO NEUTRAL WHEN I RECEIVED THE WARNING LIGHT. ON MONDAY, SEPT. 14, 2009, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF THE VW DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE LOOKED INTO. *TR
TOOK MY CAR TO GET THE OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD I HAVE A FUEL LEAK. LOOKED UP CAR ONLINE AT SAFECAR.GOV AND SAW THE 2010 JETTA HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION/ FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS. HAVING A FUEL LEAK IS MORE THAN DRAINING ON GAS MILEAGE IT IS A FIRE/EXPLOSIVE HAZARD. ON THE WEBSITE IT STATES: CONSEQUENCE: IF CHAFING OCCURS, THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A FUEL LEAK TO DEVELOP. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL LEAKAGE AND NEED MY CAR RECALLED OR FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
