TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,746 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,978.
THE LEFT TURNING SIGNAL BLINKS WHEN USING THE RIGHT TURNING SIGNAL. SOMETIMES NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN USING THE RIGHT TURNING SIGNAL. SOMETIMES THE LEFT TURNING SIGNAL BLINKS A FEW TIMES BEFORE THE RIGHT TURNING SIGNAL BLINKS. THIS IS INTERMITTENT WITH NO INDICATION WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. OFTEN IT WILL OCCUR ON REGULAR BASIS FOR A FEW MONTHS, THEN START WORKING NORMAL AGAIN FOR A FEW MONTHS.

2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI SEDAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT SAID THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AND THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR ANY VEHICLE. A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF PHYSICS TELLS YOU THE FRONT BRAKES DO THE MAJORITY OF DECELERATING A VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH A NEW 2010 WOLFSBURG JETTA I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN IT ACCELERATED UNEXPECTEDLY OVER A DECORATIVE DIVIDER. THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO STOP IT. I USED TWO FEET AND WAS LITERALLY OFF MY SEAT TRYING TO CONTROL THE CAR. IT FINALLY STOPPED. I WAS LUCKY NO PEDESTRIANS OR MYSELF AND PASSENGER WAS INJURED. VW SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED THE CAR AND SAID IT IS OPERATIONAL; HOWEVER AT THE FIRST THEY SAID MANY CODES CAME UP BUT NO ONE WOULD TELL ME WHAT THE CODES WERE. MY CAR IS A 2010 VW JETTA TDI WITH DSG TRANSMISSION. I TOOK DELIVERY OF THE CAR IN JANUARY OF 2010. DURING JULY OF LAST YEAR WITH 3000 MILES ON THE CAR, I DROVE THE CAR OUT OF A PARKING LOT ON A 95 F DEGREE AFTERNOON. BY THE TIME I REACHED THE EXIT RAMP THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH WAS IN DRIVE MODE, HAD SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR. MY INTENTION WAS TO CROSS OVER THE NEAR LANE OF TRAFFIC INTO THE FAR LANE GOING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. WHEN A SAFE INTERVAL APPEARED I STEPPED ON THE THROTTLE BUT THE CAR MOVED AHEAD VERY SLOWLY (INTO THE LANE OF FAST MOVING CARS) PRESSING THE THROTTLE FURTHER HAD NO EFFECT. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE THROTTLE AND PRESSED DOWN AGAIN AND THE CAR RESPONDED NORMALLY. IT SEEMED AT THE TIME THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD NOT SHIFTED DOWN INTO FIRST GEAR WHEN I HAD STOPPED AT THE DRIVEWAY EXIT. THE SLOW SPEED LASTED FOR ABOUT TEN SECONDS AND THE ENGINE DID NOT LUG. THE DEALER SAID ALL DSG PROBLEMS HAD BEEN ADDRESSED AND JETTAS IN MY VIN NUMBER SERIES DID NOT REGISTER ANY NEW TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON THE VW SERVICE WEB SITE. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR A DISASTROUS ACCIDENT WHEN MY WIFE OR I TRY TO ENTER HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC SHOULD THIS PROBLEM RE-OCCUR. I HAD CALLED YOUR PHONE LINE AFTER THE EVENT AND WAS GIVEN "CALL REFERENCE NUMBER 281881, CONFIRMATION NUMBER 10346067". AND TOLD THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A REPORT FORM BY REGULAR MAIL BUT I NEVER HAVE SO I THOUGHT I SHOULD COMPLETE THE ONLINE FORM. MULTIPLE INCIDENTS THAT APPEAR TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM/DEFECT. 1. THE CAR SOMETIMES WILL NOT START FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, AND ONCE IT DOES FINALLY START, HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE AND STALLS. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES, IT FINALLY STARTS AND RUNS NORMALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 7-8 TIMES FROM JULY 2010 UNTIL THE PRESENT. 2. NOW, OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS, THE CAR TRIES TO STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING ALSO, AND HAS RESULTED IN MY WIFE HAVING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR, BUT THE STARTING AND ROUGH IDLE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR APPROXIMATELY ONCE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS. ON ANOTHER NOTE, I WANT TO ENSURE THAT IF ANY RECALLS OCCUR AS A RESULT OF EVERYBODY'S COMPLAINTS, THAT U.S. MILITARY STATIONED OVERSEAS ARE NOT LEFT OUT. MANY OF US PURCHASE THESE U.S. SPEC CARS FROM LOCAL DEALER AGENCIES WHO (RE)IMPORT THE CARS BACK TO EUROPE FOR THIS PURPOSE. OFTENTIMES RECALLS ARE NOT ENFORCEABLE OVERSEAS, HOWEVER, THIS IS A VOLKSWAGEN AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF AUTHORIZED VW DEALERS IN GERMANY, AND IN EUROPE AS A WHOLE.
I'VE A 2010 VW JETTA WAGON TDI, IT STALLS OUT, MOSTLY AT LOW IDLE AND ON HILLS SOMETIMES. IT ALSO DOESN'T ENGAGE SOMETIMES IN FORWARD AND ONCE IT DOES IT LURCHES. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT'S THE SHIFTING AND THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR IN THREE TIMES TO HAVE VW LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NO ISSUES ALL THREE TIMES. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS VERY SLOW TO INCREASE IN SPEED UNTIL THE CONTACT RELEASED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT THEN DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT HE WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE TYPE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 3,500.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN THIRD GEAR THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE JERKED AND THE ACCELERATION HESITATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY SIX TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE . THE TECHNICIANS PERFORMED TWO COMPUTER UPDATES. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED IT WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT PROVIDE FURTHER ASSISTANCE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA SPORTWAGEN TDI WITH A DSG AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS WHO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,100.
MY 2010 VW JETTA DSG AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION I EXPERIENCE A LOT OF STRANGE SHIFTING PATTERNS WHEN DRIVING THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING UPWARDS OF 7000+ RPM I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND MADE THE COMPLAINT AND THEY LOADED SOME NEW PARAMETERS IN THE COMPUTER TO PUT IT BACK TO NORMAL BUT I STILL GET INTERMITTENT SHIFTING .AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP SOMETIMES THE CAR FEELS LIKE ITS STUCK IN NEUTRAL MEANING YOU STEP ON THE GAS TO GO AND THERE'S AN HESITATION. I FEEL THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND JUST FEEL THAT I SHOULD REPORT THIS FOR IT COULD CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THERE'S A SUDDEN ACCELERATION OR THE CAR FAILS TO MOVE AT ALL WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC . *TR
TIRE DEVELOPED A BUBBLE IN THE SIDEWALL WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRE WITH 7000 MILES ON IT. THE TIRE MAKE IS CONTINENTAL CONTIPROCONTACT 225/45 R17 91H, DOT AFTY PXH6. *TR
2010 VW JETTA TDI SPORTSWAGEN. AFTER 30 MILE DRIVE, LEFT REAR TIRE/WHEEL WERE VERY HOT TO THE TOUCH, STRONG ODOR OF "HOT BRAKE". REMAINING WHEELS WERE NORMAL. PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED, AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC/STOP-N-GO. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH SHE HEARD A THROBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS AND ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. SHE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO USE THE RADIO. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. SHE ALSO STATED THAT SHE WOULD ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION BUT THE RADIO WOULD INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAY A MESSAGE READING "NO CD" OR "NO MAGAZINE". A FEW MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON 3 OCCASIONS WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
BRAND NEW VOLKSWAGEN JETTA SPORTWAGEN TDI HAS STALLED AT SPEEDS FROM 25-65 MPH WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING (NO WARNING LIGHTS OR MESSAGES AND NO CHANGE IN DRIVING PERFORMANCE). THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES AT APPROXIMATELY 4K MILES. THE 3RD TIME THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED FROM A MAJOR EXPRESSWAY SINCE THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VW DEALER FOUND FAULT CODE P2146. THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR DURING TESTING AND SIMPLY CLEARED THE CODES WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF A VW OF AMERICA TECHNICIAN WORKING REMOTELY. THE VW OF AMERICA TECH ADVISED TEST DRIVING 20 MILES AND RETURNING THE CAR TO US. THE CAR WORKED WELL FOR THE NEXT 5K MILES BUT HAS NOW STALLED RANDOMLY AGAIN TWICE WHILE DRIVING. I WAS NEARLY HIT TODAY AS THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AS I WAS TURNING LEFT. PRIOR EVENTS HAVE LED TO NEARLY BEING REARENDED ON 4 LANE HIGHWAYS WITH 2 ADULTS AND A 3 AND 5 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS IS MY FIRST NEW CAR AND I HAVE NEVER FELT THIS UNSAFE IN CARS I HAVE OWNED THAT ARE OVER 10 YEARS OLD. VW SEEMS TO THINK IT IS OK TO RETURN THIS CAR TO CUSTOMERS AND WILL NOT PROVIDE ME ANY INFORMATION ON THE FREQUENCY OF THIS OCCURRENCE IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. I AM HAVING IT TOWED TO THE VW DEALER (SUTLIFF IN HARRISBURG PA) WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THEY INDICATED THEY WILL WORK ON THE CAR AGAIN. I'M AFRAID THIS WILL JUST MEAN CLEARING CODES AND TEST DRIVING. THE MECHANICS HAVE ALL AGREED THAT THEY WOULD NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THEIR FAMILY IN MY CAR...MY NEW CAR. WE PURCHASED A DEMO VW JETTA SPORTSWAGON TDI THE SUMMER OF 2010, THE VEHICLE HAD @ 2600 MI. ON THE ODOMETER. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A WHILE WE NOTICED THAT WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR THERE WAS OFTEN A HESITATION BEFORE THE CAR ENGAGED AND YOU STARTED FORWARD. WE TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT IT BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WHEN YOU TRY TO GET OUT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC YOU OFTEN PUT YOURSELF AND OTHERS AT SIGNIFICANT RISK BECAUSE THE CAR HESITATES AS YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP LEAVING YOU HANGING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. SOMEONE IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, I HOPE IT ISN'T US. *TR
2010 VW JETTA SPORTWAGEN TDI FUEL PUMP FAILURE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM AT A PERSONAL COST OF $9,980.52. I WAS TOLD IT WAS DUE TO CONTAMINATED DIESEL FUEL BUT I HAVE AN ENGINEERING REPORT THAT PROVES THE FUEL WAS WITHIN GUIDELINES AND NOT CONSIDERED CONTAMINATED BY INDUSTRY STANDARDS. IT HAS NOT RECURRED BUT I CAN'T BE CERTAIN IT WON'T SINCE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED IT. VW IS DENYING WARRANTY COVERAGE. I HAVE LEARNED OF A FEW DOZEN CASES NATIONWIDE AND IN MOST CASES VW DID COVER THE OTHERS. ONE OR TWO HAVE REPORTED A REPEAT PROBLEM. I HAD ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 7 MONTHS AND HAD 8,076 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. *TR
DEAD PEDAL - HESITATION - STALLING. ABSOLUTELY NO THROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. YOU PRESS THE PEDAL AND THERE IS NOTHING THERE. STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE EXPRESSWAY OR STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION THE CAR STALLS. ALSO HAVE EXPERIENCED SURGING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AS IF THE FUEL SUPPLY IS CUTTING OUT. WE RECENTLY RETURNED FROM A TRIP TO PORTSMOUTH NH. WE WERE IN SIX LANES OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON I-95 AND THE CAR KEPT STALLING. WHEN YOU WOULD DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO CONTINUE MOVING THERE IS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. WE PARKED IN THE PORTSMOUTH MUNICIPAL GARAGE. AS WE ASCENDED THROUGH THE GARAGE LOOKING FOR A PARKING SPACE [INCLINE POSITION] ABOUT 5 MPH, THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO CONTINUE TO FEATHER THE PEDAL TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. WE NOW HAVE 20K MILES ON THE CAR AND HAVE HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT 6 TIMES AT THE LOCAL VW DEALER WITH NO FIX. THE CAR HAS SERIOUS THROTTLE ISSUES AND HAS BECOME DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. PLEASE NOTE TO NUMEROUS TO MENTION VW TDI HESITATION ISSUES ON MANY WEB FORUMS. SOMEONE IS LIKELY TO GET SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT VW MUST KNOW ABOUT. PLEASE ADVISE !!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT WAS REVERSING 5 MPH FROM A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY WHEN THE EPS AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE ELECTRICAL WIRING AND RE-ROUTED THE WIRING. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, SHE WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND THERE WERE NO REPAIRS. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. AT A LATER DATE, WHILE SITTING IDLE WITH THE BRAKE DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY. THE CONTACT THEN ADDED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT THEN UTILIZED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL, GRADUALLY COMING TO A STOP BEFORE LIGHTLY CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. I HAVE A 2010 JETTA SPORTWAGEN TDI MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED NEW IN FEBRUARY 2010. I AM NOT SURE OF THE DATES BUT THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED OR JUST TURNED OFF TWICE SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN. IT DID START BACK UP AS SOON AS I TURNED IT COMPLETELY OFF AND BACK ON. I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS A MAJOR DEAL THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND THAT I MAY HAVE JUST STALLED IT. WHEN IT HAPPENED THE SECOND TIME I QUESTIONED THE DEALER. THEY SAID UNLESS THEY COULD GET IT TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY DIDN'T KNOW. THE OTHER ISSUE THAT I BELIEVE MAY BE RELATED HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. UNDER NORMAL DRIVING WHICH HAPPENS ATLEAST EVERY DAY I HAVE A BLIP IN THE THROTTLE. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE THERE IS AN AIR POCKET IN THE FUEL THAT IS LIKE A HICCUP UNDER THROTTLE. IT IS RANDOM BUT AS I SAID HAPPENS ATLEAST ONCE A DAY. THE DEALER HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES BECAUSE THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. *TR
1. THE HORN IS HARD TO PRESS, AND SLOW TO REACT. A FEW TIMES I NEEDED TO USE FOR SAFETY AND ALMOST WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT AS HORN DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. 2. WHEN PRESSING THE HORN, ONE HAS TO PUT MORE THAN ADEQUATE PRESSURE. ONCE IT IS PRESSED, THERE IS A DELAY OF ABOUT A SECOND BEFORE THE HORN BLOWS. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME IT'S PRESSED. I WANT TO MAKE SURE MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN NHTSA INVESTIGATION EA11003 - VOLKSWAGEN DIESEL HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURES. NOTE: VW USES A FOAM CUP TEST TO VERIFY PRESENCE OF GASOLINE IN THE DIESEL FUEL. BIODIESEL WILL MELT FOAM THE SAME WAY GASOLINE DOES SO THE FOAM CUP TEST WILL SHOW THE SAME RESULTS IF THE DIESEL FUEL IN THE VEHICLE CONTAINS BIODIESEL. MOST ALL STATIONS IN ILLINOIS SELL BIODIESEL BECAUSE OF STATE TAX INCENTIVES. I EXPLAINED THIS MULTIPLE TIMES TO MY DEALER BUT THEY WOULDN'T LISTEN. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY $200.00 TO SEND THE FUEL TO AN OUTSIDE LAB FOR TESTING SO I TURNED THE ISSUE OVER TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY. FINAL BILLL WAS $10035.77 OF MOSTLY UNNEEDED PARTS FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT GASOLINE IN THE FUEL. I HAVE A RECEIPT SHOWING WHAT PUMP I FILLED UP FROM AND A LETTER FROM THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE STATING THEY TESTED THE DIESEL FUEL FROM THE PUMP I FILLED UP AT AND IT TESTED WITHIN COMPLIANCE. I FILLED UP THREE DAYS PRIOR TO THE PUMP FAILURE AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY UP TIL THE FAILURE. THE ONLY THING I WONDERED ABOUT IS THE COOLING FAN WASN'T RUNNING AND IT WAS 94 DEGREES OUT THAT DAY. THE DEALER WAS USELESS AND DISMISSED EVERYTHING I SAID CLAIMING I PUT GASOLINE IN THE CAR. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER IN MY HOUSEHOLD WHO HAD EVER FUELED IT UP AND I KNOW FOR A FACT I HAD NOT EVER PUT IN THE WRONG FUEL. I FEEL I AM OWED COMPENSATION FROM VOLKSWAGEN FOR THE WAY I WAS TREATED AND THE FACT I WAS NOT GIVEN A LOANER VEHICLE PER THE VEHICLE WARRANTY THEY DID NOT HONOR ON THE REPAIR. I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, OPENED THE HOOD AND HEARD A BUZZING SOUND COMING FROM THE FUEL FILTER AREA. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND PICKED UP WHAT I NEEDED FROM MY DESTINATION. I CAME BACK TO THE CAR STARTED IT AND NOTICED THE NOISE WENT AWAY. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME THE BUZZING WAS BACK. I CALLED ED AND NOTIFIED HIM THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. 2010 JETTA TDI (DIESEL) - AT LESS THAN 3,000 MILES, THE CAR BEGAN STALLING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST SIX TIMES. HAVE TO RELEASE FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR AND RE-APPLY IN ORDER TO GET CAR TO MOVE AHEAD; SOMETIMES IT TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE. ONCE POWER IS ESTABLISHED, THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AT FULL POWER. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 6,500 MILES. THE STALLING HAS OCCURRED WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC HEADING TOWARD US AND CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. CURRENT MILEAGE ON VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 1300 MILES. CAR HAS A AUTOMATIC - DSG TRANSMISSION. IN MID MAY OF 2010 I BEGAN HAVING SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION LOCKING INTO 3, 4 GEARS WHILE IN DRIVE ESPECIALLY WHEN ENTERING TRAFFIC FROM A START.. THIS CREATES A SEVERE POWER REDUCTION FROM A START AND CAN BE LIFE THREATING, AND CAUSE INVOLVEMENT IN BROAD SIDE ACCIDENT WHILE ENTERING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. TRANSMISSION ALSO JOLTS AND BOLTS WHEN DRIVING, AND WHEN PLACING IN REVERSE OR DRIVE FROM A START. THE CAR HAS SHIFTED IN NEUTRAL ONCE WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD AT LEAST 15 OCCURRENCES SINCE MAY 12TH. WHEN THE SITUATION HAPPENS I HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND STOP AND WAIT FOR A SAFE CONDITION TO PULL OUT IN THIRD (LOCKED) GEAR. I CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT WILL IT JUST OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING. SOMETIMES THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO RESET TO NORMAL IF YOU TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND WAIT 5-10 MIN BEFORE RESTARTING. VW/AUDI HAVE HAD NUMEROUS REPORTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS DSG TRANSMISSION. HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY 2008 GTI AND THE METRONICS WHICH VW SENT OUT A SAFETY BULLETING AND REPLACED THE UNIT LAST JULY. THIS PROBLEM IS FAR WORSE THAN ROUGH SHIFTING IT'S LIFE THREATING. HAD A REAL SCARY INCIDENT YESTERDAY, LOCKED INTO THIRD AND THEN JUMPED INTO NEUTRAL, HAD TO COAST TO BURM. CAR IS CURRENTLY TODAY IN THE DEALERSHIP AS I WILL NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. THEY WILL INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM AND CHECK FOR ERROR CODES ETC. THE ENGINE SPONTANEOUSLY STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ENTERING AN INTERSECTION, TURNING LEFT, AND PUT IN THE CLUTCH TO DOWN-SHIFT (MANUAL TRANSMISSION) AND THE ENGINE STOPPED AS SOON AS THE CLUTCH PEDAL WENT DOWN, AS IF I HAD TURNED OFF THE KEY. THE ENGINE STARTER WOULD NOT RE-ENGAGE UNTIL I FIGURED OUT I HAD TO TURN THE IGNITION ALL THE WAY OFF THEN BACK TO THE START POSITION TO ENGAGE THE STARTER. THE ENGINE RE-STARTED NORMALLY AT THAT POINT AND RAN FINE FOR THE REST OF THAT TRIP. THE ENGINE HAS DONE THE SAME THING ABOUT SIX OR EIGHT TIMES SINCE THEN, THE MOST RECENT TIME BEING ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO. THIS CAN MAKE IT QUITE INTERESTING, TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HAVING TO TAKE A HAND OFF THE STEERING WHEEL TO DO THE COMPLICATED RE-START - IF THE DRIVER WERE TO PANIC A RE-START WOULD NOT HAPPEN. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE ALSO RUNS VERY ROUGH, ESPECIALLY AT IDLE, AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE THE CAR - THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WHEN TURNING ONTO A STREET OR HIGHWAY AND NEEDING TO GET UP TO SPEED TO NOT GET HIT WHILE MERGING WITH TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE ALSO IDLES ROUGH PERIODICALLY BUT THAT HAS NOT BEEN A SAFETY CONCERN ALTHOUGH IT MIGHT BE RELATED TO THE OTHER PROBLEMS. THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN AT ALL ENGINE AND AIR TEMPERATURES - HOT OR COLD, AND EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS FULLY WARMED UP. MULTIPLE DEALERS AND THIRD-PARTY REPAIR SHOPS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM; NO ERROR CODES ARE SHOWN BY THE ENGINE CONTROL COMPUTER AND IT HAPPENS INFREQUENTLY ENOUGH THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM THEMSELVES. *TR

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGE READ NORMALLY DURING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST TWO TO THREE TIMES A DAY OR GREATER; AND REACHED THE NUMBER OF FIFTEEN TIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETECT A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURES WHICH THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. IN ADDITION, THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP WITH AN INCREASE IN THE ENGINE RPMS AND THE TACHOMETER DISPLAYING A DIFFERENT READING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE IS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI WITH DSG AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ON MANY DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE VEHICLES ENGINE HAS STALLED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR AT LOW 0-5 MPH. THIS OCCURS MOST FREQUENTLY IN STOP/GO TRAFFIC AND OCCURS WHEN STOPPING AND ALSO PULLING AWAY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED YOU MUST TURN THE IGNITION TO THE OFF POSITION, SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. MOST RECENTLY (43,000 MILES 8-10-2014) THE VEHICLE STALLED AT AN INTERSECTION AND I HAD TO START THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES BEFORE I COULD SAFELY PROCEED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. THIS WAS STOPPED AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION IN PHILADELPHIA PA AND WAS DANGEROUS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO CVM DEALERSHIP, MECHANICSBURG, PA (CAR WAS PURCHASED AT THIS LOCATION DEC 2009) FOR SERVICES. ALL SERVICE WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED ON AS RECOMMENDED BY VOLKSWAGEN. MY VW JETTA TDI STALLED WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN AFTER THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED. IT DID THIS OCCASIONALLY DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. AFTER A YEAR OF OWNERSHIP AND A DOZEN OR SO INCIDENTS, THE CAR STARTED TO STALL MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A ONE HALF-HOUR COMMUTE. TWICE RECENTLY, ONCE ON MY WAY TO WORK AND ONCE ON MY WAY BACK, THE CAR STALLED TWO AND THREE TIMES RESPECTIVELY. IT EVEN STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED. USUALLY, IT STALLS WHEN COMING TO A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN THE CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED IN ORDER TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF GEAR. AT 12000 MILES, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES AND THEN REMAINED ON. THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER AND EGR VALVE WERE REPLACED WHICH IS HIGHLY UNUSUAL FOR A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. ALSO, AFTER MY 20000 MILE SERVICE THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE #4 EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR. BEFORE THE 20K SERVICE I HAD CALLED THE DEALER THE DAY I STALLED 3 TIMES AND REPORTED MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. I WENT TO THE DEALER A FEW DAYS LATER, THURSDAY, FOR THE SERVICE AND THE LIGHT HAD GONE OUT BY THEN. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE ECM TO BE DONE IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR SERVICE. I LEFT THE DEALER AFTER THE 20K SERVICE ONLY TO HAVE MY ENGINE LIGHT GO ON AGAIN AND THE CAR STALL AGAIN. SO I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THAT IS WHEN THEY CHANGED THE #4 EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR. IT DID NOT SOUND TO ME LIKE A PROPER FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AS I BELIEVE IT COULD BE EITHER AN ELECTRONIC GLITCH WITH THE ECM OR OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OR SOME FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM WHEREBY FUEL FLOW IS INTERRUPTED WHEN GOING FROM LOAD TO NO LOAD SCENARIOS, I.E. CLUTCH ENGAGED. ANYHOW, I STALLED AGAIN TWO MILES FROM THE DEALER FROM WHICH I HAD DRIVEN. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT OR FIND ANY CODES RELATED TO IT. THEY WILL CALL VW AGAIN.
I'VE HAD 3 AUTOMOBILES SINCE 1986 WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS AND DON'T RECALL A STALLING PROBLEM LIKE I'M HAVING NOW WITH MY VW 2010 JETTA TDI. IT STARTED WITH A TEST DRIVE AND A NUMBER OF TIMES AFTER PURCHASE. I ASSUMED MY MOTOR SKILLS WOULD ADAPT AND THE PROBLEM WOULD BECOME LESS FREQUENT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, SPECIFICALLY AT INTERSECTIONS WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A COMPLETE STOP, A ROLLING STOP, OR WHEN BRAKING/CLUTCHING HARD. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I TRY TO SLOWLY GO OVER BUMPS OR UP HILLS. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT RESULTED IN SLIGHT DAMAGE TO MY CAR. I WAS LEAVING A CONDO GARAGE IN WHICH I HAD TO GO UP A STEEP DRIVEWAY, THROUGH AN AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR AND OUT AN ALLEY WITH A SPEED BUMP JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR. THE COMBINATION OF THE DRIVEWAY, BUMP AND A TIGHT LEFT TURN MEANT THAT I HAD TO GENERATE RPMS INITIALLY, BUT THEN HAD TO TAPER DOWN IMMEDIATELY. MY FRONT WHEELS MADE IT OVER THE BUMP, BUT MY CAR STALLED AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO AT LEAST COAST MY REAR WHEELS OVER THE BUMP. ESSENTIALLY I WAS STUCK IN SUCH A SPOT THAT MY CAR CLEARED THE DOOR'S BEAM BUT A PART OF MY TRUNK WAS STILL IN THE PATH OF THE CLOSING DOOR. IN A PANIC I TRIED TO START THE CAR, BUT ANOTHER NUISANCE GOT IN THE WAY. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE KEY BACKWARD BEFORE TURNING THE IGNITION ON AGAIN. THAT AWKWARD FEATURE CAUSED ME TO FUMBLE AS IT HAD ON OTHER OCCASIONS AND IT TOOK ME THAT MUCH LONGER TO GET THE CAR STARTED. THE DOOR HIT MY CAR. THIS ISSUE IS AT LEAST FRUSTRATING, BUT AT MOST, ESPECIALLY AT INTERSECTIONS, IT CAN BE DANGEROUS. I'VE IMAGINED TIMES WHEN MY CAR STALLED AT INTERSECTIONS AND CARS BEHIND ME PLOWING INTO ME. NOT LONG AGO I READ A FAVORABLE REVIEW (PUBLICATION ESCAPES ME) ABOUT MY CAR EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THE REVIEWERS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED THE AUTOMATIC INSTEAD. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER SEEKING HELP (TO NO AVAIL) I WANTED TO FIND THE ARTICLE ONLINE BUT INSTEAD FOUND OTHER REVIEWS AND FORUMS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND AS THE VEHICLE PROCEED TO TRAVEL OFF THE ROADWAY, SHE ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A TEST DRIVE BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. A DIAGNOSTIC WOULD NOT PRODUCE ANY FAILURE CODES AND THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,850 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,035.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BY TWO PEOPLE WITHIN THE SAME FAMILY AND THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN ONE TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,857.

CAR'S HORN TAKES UNUSUAL EFFORT TO HONK, AND THERE IS A ONE SECOND DELAY BETWEEN WHEN THE HORN IS PRESSED AND THE SOUNDING OF THE HORN. FOR INSTANCE, THE WHEN DOING THE CUSTOMARY TWO HONKS TO REMIND SOMEONE NICELY TO GO, THE SOUND ONLY BEGINS WELL AFTER COMPLETION OF THE SECOND PRESS. THIS HAPPENED SINCE NEW, AT ALL SPEEDS, ON NO SPECIFIC DATE. MIL LIGHT, AND GLOW PLUG LIGHT START APPEARING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. CAR LOSES ACCELERATION GOING UP HILLS AND BECOMES DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. IT OCCURS SPORADICALLY. MIL LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 3 PLUS MONTHS. AUTHORIZED SERVICE GARAGE CANNOT DETERMINE REASONS FOR THESE LIGHTS. CHANGES A FEW COMPONENTS. EVEN AFTER ROUTINE 10K SERVICE, PROBLEM CONTINUES. *TR
2010 JETTA TDI MANUAL TRANSMISSION--CLUTCH STALLS DANGEROUS DUE TO NEW CLUTCH RESPONSE COMBINED WITH DIESEL TURBO LAG. WHEN I PURCHASED MY NEW CAR, THE SALESMAN AT VW OF LANGHORNE, PA, WAS CERTAIN THAT I WOULD "KILL THE CLUTCH" ON THE FIRST DRIVE AS HAD ALL OTHER PEOPLE WHO PURCHASED A MANUAL 2010 TDI. THE CLUTCH RESPONSE IS SOMEHOW DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER CAR AND AFTER ADDING THE "DIESEL TURBO LAG," IT MAKES FOR A DANGEROUS FIRST ACCELERATION. TO MY SALESMAN'S SURPRISE, I DID NOT STALL THE CAR WHEN I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. HOWEVER, I HAVE SINCE STALLED IT SEVERAL TIMES IN TRAFFIC. WHEN THE CLUTCH STALLS, DRIVER MUST COMPLETELY TURN OFF IGNITION AND TURN IT BACK ON BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CLUTCH-DRIVE AGAIN. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AMONG 2010 MANUAL TDI OWNERS AND ONE FREQUENTLY DISCUSSED BECAUSE IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. SOME OWNERS ON "TDI CLUB" LIST SERVER ARE CHANGING OUT THEIR OWN CLUTCHES TO STAY ALIVE. I AM AN EXCELLENT "STICK" DRIVER WITH 25 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN MANY VEHICLES. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS CLUTCH ISSUE BEFORE PEOPLE GET KILLED. IT'S NOT MY DRIVING PROBLEM OR MY PARTICULAR CAR'S PROBLEM--IT IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL 2010 MANUAL TDI CLUTCH STARTS. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2001 MANUAL TDI JETTA AND DROVE IT FOR 10 YEARS WITH NO CLUTCH COMPLAINTS. I STALL THE 2010 CLUTCH AT LEAST ONCE PER DAY. WHEN MY HUSBAND HAS ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT, HE STALLED IT FIVE TIMES IN A ROW THE FIRST DRIVE, AND IN SUBSEQUENT DRIVES STALLS IT EVERY OTHER PULL OUT.
