2010 VW JETTA WITH 73K MILES EXPERIENCEING ISSUES WITH THE HYDRAULIC PUMP AND ABS SYSTEM. WHILE IN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, ENGAGEMENT OF THE ABS SYSTEM CAUSES THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN BRAKES ARE HIT, CAR VIOLENTLY PULLS FROM LEFT TO RIGHT OUT OF LANE BEYOND THE DRIVERS CONTROL. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES TRYING TO DECELERATE WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IN HIGH TRAFFIC SITUATIONS. SMOKE FROM TIRE BURN HAS OCCURRED FROM THE LOSE OF CONTROL. THANKFULLY NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED, BUT THAT WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY. IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION AND THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE WITH THIS ISSUE. NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN #16V913000 ISSUED ON 12/20/16 COVERS THIS MODEL AND YEAR VW FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, HOWEVER, THE VIN NUMBER IDENTIFIED ABOVE IS NOT COVERED BY THE CURRENT RECALL. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER ADDITIONAL 2010 MODEL YEAR JETTA'S EXPERIENCING THE SAME HIGHLY DANGEROUS HYDRAULIC ABS ISSUE.
THE GAS ENGINE CAR STALLS OUT WHEN STATIONARY, IN MOTION, ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS.I TURN IGNITION OFF THEN START THE CAR AGAIN AND GO ON TO MY WAY TO THE NEXT STALL. IT IS NOT BAD GAS AND MECHANICS AND DEALERSHIPS ARE STILL GUESSING WHAT WRONG.
KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED.
IN LATE 2016 I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE PENDING VOLKSWAGEN/AUDI DIESEL EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT. ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO I I WENT THROUGH THE VERIFICATION PROCESS AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT: 1-MY CAR IS IN THE BUY BACK GROUP 2-VW WILL PAY IT OFF AND 3-VW WILL GIVE ME $800 AND SOME DOLLARS FINALIZING THE TRANSACTION I HAVE HAD THIS CAR READY TO DROP OFF AND WAITING FOR 3 MONTHS. I AM NOW 2 PAYMENTS BEHIND AS I WAS EXPECTING FOR VW TO HONOR THEIR COMMITMENT, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING. VOLKSWAGEN IS APPARENTLY NOT DISPLAYING A SENSE OF URGENCY WITH THE BAD FAITH SHOWN BY DELAYING THIS PROCESS. I AM AWARE THAT THEIR CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVE AT OUR LOCAL DEALER HAS BEEN APPRISED OF MY SITUATION AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. CAN/WILL NHTSA 'COMPEL' THEM TO FOLLOW UP WITH THEIR AGREEMENT. MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN DRIVING HER 2010 JETTA SINCE JUNE 2010 (PURCHASED NEW). UNTIL THE END OF 2016 SHE COMPLAINED THAT HER CAR STARTED RUNNING UNSMOOTH, JERKY, THE VSC WARNING LIGHT ON/OFF RANDOMLY, UNABLE TO GO FASTER THAN 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY WHILE THE CAR WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND THE ENGINE REVVING AGGRESSIVELY. I VERIFIED HER CAR DRIVING CONDITION MYSELF. I WAS TRAVELING ABOVE 70 MPH ON A 65-MPH FREEWAY ZONE. SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AS IF ALL WHEELS WERE SEVERELY OFF-BALANCED. IGNORING MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL, I COULD BARELY DRIVE ABOVE 45 MPH. I FELT VERY UNSAFE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND PREPARED TO BE HIT BY ANOTHER CAR AT ANY MOMENT. TO ACHIEVE A DESIRED QUICK BRAKE PEDAL RESPONSE ON VOLKSWAGEN VEHICLES, THE DESIGN ENGINEERS OPTED TO INCREASE THE ASSEMBLY INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BOOSTER INSTEAD TO REDUCE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE MASTER CYLINDER PISTON TRAVEL RATIO. THEY REDUCED THE CLEARANCES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER PISTON SEALS TO THE BRAKE FLUID SUPPLY/RETURN PORTS SO THAT THE CAR BRAKES CAN BE ACTIVATED WITH SHORTER BRAKE PEDAL STROKE. AS THE RESULTS, UNDER ASSEMBLY DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCE STACK-UPS, SOME CARS WERE BUILT WITH THE BRAKE FLUID SUPPLY/RETURN PORTS PARTIALLY OR FULLY COVERED BY THE PISTON SEALS AT THE VOLKSWAGEN FACTORIES. WHEN THE THERMALLY EXPANDED BRAKE FLUID CANNOT FLOW BACK TO RESERVOIR THROUGH THE FULLY COVERED SUPPLY/RETURN PORTS EASILY, THE FLUID WILL EXPAND BRAKE CALIBER PISTONS PUSHING THE BRAKE PADS AGAINST THE ROTORS RESULTING BRAKE DRAGGING. WHEN A MOVING CAR'S ENGINE CANNOT OVERCOME WITH THE BRAKE DRAGGING FRICTIONS, THE CAR DRIVER WILL LOSE HIS/HER CONTROL TO THE VEHICLE SPEED. THE O-RING SWELL DUE TO AGING MADE THE JETTA WORSE. AS WITH MOST OTHER 2010 VW JETTA OWNERS, MY RADIO HAS GONE OUT NOT ONCE BUT NOW TWICE. THERE IS AN ELECTRILCAL PROBLEM ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF HTE CAR BECAUSE NOT ONLY DOES THIS HAPPEN BUT MY HEAD LIGHTS, RUNNING LIGHTS BURN OUT AT A MIND BLOWING RATE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MANY REASONS, MOST BEING THE FACT THAT MY HANDSFREE BLUETOOTH IS NOT FUNCTIONING NOW AND I DRIVE FOR MY JOB! THIS IS THE SECOND RADIO I WILL HAVE HAD TO REPLACE. RIDICULOUS.
JANUARY 10,2017 HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING BROKEN INTO 3 PIECES. LEFT REAR CRACKED. BOTH REPLACE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY W/$100.00 DEDUCT. CAR HAD 77,695 MILES. MARCH 13, 2017 CAR TOWED DUE TO LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKEN COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY W/$100. DEDUCT. I HAD THEM REPLACE THE RIGHT COIL SPRING AND THEY FOUND MOUNTING BRACKET BROKEN ALONG WITH BEARING. THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY, COSTING ME $532.01. MY COMPLAINT IS WHY WOULD THE SPRINGS BREAK LIKE THAT? I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS OVER THE YEARS AND I AM NOT ROUGH ON THEM. I AVOID POT HOLES AND MAN HOLE COVERS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, SO WHY HAVE 3 OUT OF 4 BROKEN AND THE BEARINGS AND MOUNT BREAK ON THE OTHER, ALL WITHIN 9 WEEKS OF EACH OTHER? THIS IS VERY COSTLY NOW AND I AM AN OLDER WOMAN AND I CAN'T AFFORD THESE REPAIRS. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH VW CAR.
OUT OF THE BLUE THE PREMIUM 8 TOUCH SCREEN RADIO STOPPED WORKING, NO WARNING OR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS, PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK THE RADIO FUSES AND NOTHING WAS BLOWN OR NEEDED REPAIR. EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES ON VW FORUMS. EVEN THOUGH THIS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE IT IS STILL COMPONENT, MUCH LIKE WINDSHIELD WIPERS THAT OU JUST EXPECT TO WORK. TIME IN THE VW FORUMS. THIS NEEDS TO BE PLACED/FIXED. I NEVER HAVE HAD A RADIO FAIL IN ANY PREVIOUS CAR. I AM REALLY REGRETING MY PURCHASE OF THIS SUB-PAR, POORLY ENGINERED VEHICAL.
I AM UNABLE TO CARRY REAR PASSENGERS (ADULTS OR KIDS) AS THE REAR DOOR DO NOT OPERATE CONSISTENTLY.I CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. DEALER WANTS A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPLACE TWO REAR WIRING HARNESS AS WELL AS THE ELECTRONIC DOOR ACTUATORS. THIS SEEMS TO BE IMPROPER LACK IN THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE REAR DOORS. I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH A VEHICLE IS SHORT A PERIOD OF TIME. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS SO THAT NOBODY IS INJURED FORM A DOOR THAT WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE, INCONSTANTLY. I WILL HOLD BOTH NHTSA AS WELL AS VW IF A TRAGIC EVENT DOES UNFORTUNATELY DOES OCCUR. THIS ITEM HAS BEEN POSTED NUMEROUS TIME IN VE FORMUS. MY JETTA TDI HAS 156K MILES, AND IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO WEATHER OR TIME OF DAY. THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM THAT DOES NOT EVER GO AWAY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MAJOR SAFETY CONSERN.
DIESEL FUEL FILTER IS CLOGGING UP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $7,000.00.
THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THE CAR WAS STOPPED AND IN PARK. I HAD TO BRING THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY ONLY OPTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS TO REPLACE THE IGNITION COMPONENT.
REAR ELECTRIC DOORS WILL UNLOCK CONSISTENTLY. DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTIC WHICH POINTS TO A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS. THIS SEEMS LIKE A PRODUCTION ISSUES AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. END RESULT REAR DOORS CAN NOT BE OPENED UNLESS YOU USE THE INSIDE DOOR LEVER. FIRST RESPONDERS OR GOOD SAMARITANS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PULL PEOPLE FROM THE REAR PASSENGER AREA. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY VW FORUMS CITE SIMILAR PROBLEMS.
WHILE RECENTLY DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE GEAR INDICATOR IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO FLASH AND THEN DISAPPEARED, NO LONGER REVEALING WHAT GEAR THE CAR WAS IN WHILE IN FORWARD MOTION, AND CAR BEGAN TO LOSE MOMENTUM WHILE DRIVING AND BEGAN SOUNDING AND MOVING AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL. UPON STOPPING THE CAR AND AGAIN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE FORWARD, THE CAR ENGINE REVVED AS THOUGH IN NEUTRAL. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHERE THEY DROVE IT AND MENTIONED THE WIRING HARNESS LEAKING OIL/FLUID. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR AT THE DEALER 4 TIMES WITHIN A 6 MONTH PERIOD (MAY-NOV 2016) FOR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, AS I KEEP THIS CAR IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAVE IT CHECKED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO PREVENT ISSUES FROM OCCURRING. DURING ALL THESE TIMES I HAD NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW, AS AGAIN, I WORK VERY HARD TO MAINTAIN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCE DONE MUCH RESEARCH ON THIS MATTER AND HAVE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH OTHER VW OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPRESSED HAVING VERY SIMILAR ISSUES WHICH FALLS IN LINE WITH THE ISSUED RECALL ANNOUNCED AUGUST 20, 2009. WHILE ON A CITY STREET AT STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT MY VW JETTA TDI MADE A FUNNY NOISE AND SHOOK. THEN IT ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL, THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT CAME ON. THE STOP LIGHT CHANGED AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. WHEN I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT BEFORE I COULD TAKE THE CARE OUT OF GEAR, IT STALLED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO START AGAIN. I WAS TOLD BY VW OF SAN BERNARDINO THAT THIS WAS A KNOW ISSUE WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. THE RECALL UPDATE WAS PREFORMED BACK IN 2014 TO PREVENT THE INCORRECT FUEL FROM BEING PLACED INTO THE VEHICLE. I AM A LONG TIME DIESEL OWNER AND HAVE NEVER PLACED THE INCORRECT FUEL INTO THE CAR. I BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OR MATERIAL RELATED TO THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP.
WATER INFILTRATION: THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT WON AGAINST VW FOR WATER INFILTRATION FOR MODEL YEARS THROUGH 2009, WHICH FILED BEFORE THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. MINE IS A 2010, BUT MANUFACTURED IN 2009. I NOW HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, BUT HAVEN'T FOUND ANY EVIDENCE A NEW CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS BROUGHT OR THAT THE COMPANY HAS VOLUNTARILY RECALLED THE VEHICLES FOR CORRECTION. THIS PROBLEM HAS RESULTED IN MY CAR TAKING IN ENOUGH WATER TO CREATE A 2" DEEP PUDDLE WHERE THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER PUT THEIR LEGS. WHILE I THOUGHT I HAD EXTRACTED ALL WATER AND DRIED OUT THE CAR, I RETURNED 3 WEEKS LATER TO FIND THE INTERIOR COMPLETELY COVERED WITH MOLD/MILDEW, WHICH CREATES A HEALTH HAZARD FOR MOST, AND PARTICULARLY ME SINCE I HAVE ALLERGIES TO SOME MOLDS. THE VEHICLE IS NOW PRETTY MUCH A TOTAL LOSS, AND IS VALUED AT $8000 - WHICH A RETIREE SUCH AS MYSELF CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE. MY AUTO INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER THIS LOSS. MY WIFE'S 2010 JETTA 2.0T TSI EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE STALL AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF CITY STREET. THIS WAS A ROUTINE TRIP UNDER CLEAR WEATHER CONDITIONS. WITH NO TRAFFIC BEHIND HER, SHE SAFELY COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER WAITING 5-10 MINUTES SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND, WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS APPEARING, DRIVE APPROXIMATELY FOUR MILES HOME. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, UPON STARTING THE ENGINE, MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRES BEGAN OCCURRING AND THE ENGINE WAS IMMEDIATELY SHUTOFF AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT THE STALL WAS DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILING, WHICH ALLOWED THE TIMING CHAIN TO SKIP SIX TEETH ON THE CAMSHAFT AND THE VALVES TO CONTACT THE PISTONS RESULTING IN THE ENGINE SELF-DESTRUCTING. THEY RECOMMENDED A NEARLY COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF OVER $8,000. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2009 AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED IMPECCABLY AS SPECIFIED BY VW. SPEAKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP ENGINE TECHNICIAN, WE LEARNED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER IS A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART BY VW AND THAT IN 2011-2012, WAS REVISED SEVERAL TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO MITIGATE THE FAILURES. A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED BY VW TO DEALERSHIPS AND SERVICE DEPARTMENTS EXPLAINING THE ISSUE BUT NO NOTICES OR RECALLS WERE SENT TO CUSTOMERS INFORMING THEM OF THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY COMPONENT FAILURE. I HAVE READ, BUT NOT INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED, THAT VW HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC COMPONENT IN EUROPE. SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2016, AND OWING TO THE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD, AS MANY AS THREE CLASS-ACTION LAWSUITS HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST VOLKSWAGEN FOR THIS SPECIFIC COMPONENT FAILURE. WE ARE THANKFUL NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED WHEN THE CAR STALLED DURING OPERATION, BUT NOW WE ARE FACING OVER $8,000 IN REPAIRS.
CAR WON'T START, JUMPED, DROVE AND FAILED TO START NEXT DAY, OWN TEST AND HAS CURRENT DRAW WHEN OFF, TOOK TO DEALER, SAID RADIO IS CAUSING PROBLEM, WON'T (GO TO SLEEP MODE WHEN TURNED OFF), TOLD $800 TO REPLACE THE RADIO, CHECKED ON LINE AND I SEE SO MANY, THOUSANDS I HEAR, PROBLEMS WITH RADIOS ON THIS STYLE CAR, IF VOLKSWAGEN WON'T STAND BEHIND A KNOWN ISSUE AND GO BACK ON THEIR SUPPLIER FOR A RESOLUTION, I WILL NOT STAND BEHIND VOLKSWAGEN AND PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE WHEN THE TIME COMES FOR A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE, IF THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE I'M SURE SOME LEGAL ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN, BUT IT'S ONLY A RADIO, COSTING A LOT OF PEOPLE, I'M GUESSING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS
LATERAL SPACING BETWEEN ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDAL TOO NARROW. THIS SITUATION CAUSES THE DRIVER TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN REQUIRING BRAKING. ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION THIS CAUSED ME TO IMPACT A STATIONARY VEHICLE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION THAT IS AGGREVATED WHEN LARGER FOOTWEAR IS WORN, THIS CONDITION SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED, AS IT AN UNACCEPTABLE PRESENTS A SAFETY RISK

THE SEAT SHOWED EARLY DETERIATION WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS POINTED OUT TO THE DEALER, STOKES VW SEVERAL TIMES. BUT THEY NEVER WROTE IT UP ON THE SERVICE ORDER. ANOTHER PROBLEM 2010 JETTA OWNERS HAVE POSTED ABOUT.
WE HAVE HAD TWO RIMS BEND OUT OF SHAPE RESULTING IN FLATS IN THE SPACE OF THREE WEEKS. THE FIRST OCCURRED WHEN STRIKING A MINOR POTHOLE (<1" DEEP) AT LOW SPEED, AND THE OTHER HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO APPARENT POTHOLE OR DEBRIS. HE SHOWED ME THREE OTHER FAILED SPRINGS. I KEPT MINE. IT HAS NO SIGNS OF CORROSION PRIOR TO FAILURE - METAL FATIGUE PROBABLY RELATED TO BAD METALLURGY, ACCORDING TO MY DAD WHO'S AN ENGINEER.CLASSIC SPIRAL FRACTURE. CATASTROPHIC MALFUNCTION OF HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WITH METAL SHARDS IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. FUEL WAS NOT CONTAMINATED. THE VEHICLES MIL LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE OFF HIGHWAY.
THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR HAS FAILED. IT'S ABOUT A $1,000 TO FIX AND IS A COMPONENT IN A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TDI. I'VE HEARD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL.
MY CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP ASSOCIATED WITH MY CAR MAKE AND MODEL. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE A MISFUEL GUARD INSTALLED. I NEVER RECEIVED ACTUAL NOTICE THAT I WAS TO INSTALL A MISFUEL GUARD UNTIL THE DAY MY CAR STALLED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP RAN A FUEL TEST WHICH REVEALED THAT THERE WAS NO IMPROPER FUEL IN MY CAR, THUS, EVEN IF THE MISFUEL GUARD HAD BEEN INSTALLED, MY FUEL PUMP WOULD HAVE STILL FAILED. I HAVE CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN AS WELL AND THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE MISFUEL GUARD INSTALLED, I WAS UNABLE TO BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO IMPROPER FUEL LOCATED IN MY CAR. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO USER ERROR, I AM BEING STUCK WITH THE BILL ($5,000) DUE TO VOLKSWAGEN'S DEFECTIVE PART.
2010 VOLKSWAGEN 2.0 TURBO DSG FAULT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEGUN EXHIBITING DANGEROUS RANDOM/UNINTENTIONAL SHIFTING INTO MUCH LOWER GEARS, OR POSSIBLY EVEN NEUTRAL AT VARIOUS SPEEDS UNDER LIGHT OR NO THROTTLE INPUT ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THUS FAR. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 25MPH, AND THE DSG TRANSAXLE DOWNSHIFTED/SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL FOR NO APPARENT REASON, ENGINE REVVING TO 4-5 THOUSAND RPM. THIS HAPPENED ROUGHLY FOUR TIMES BEFORE IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SPEED CONTROL SET AT 58MPH. VEHICLE SHIFTED ALL BY ITSELF WITHOUT REASON, AGAIN REVVING TO 4-5 THOUSAND. THIS TIME IT HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL OPERATION. ADDITIONALLY, ONE MORNING I ACCELERATED FROM A STOP WITH COLD ENGINE/TRANSAXLE IN DRIVE, AND THE TRANSAXLE WOULD NOT UPSHIFT FROM LOW GEAR FOR ABOUT 3-4 SECONDS. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED, BUT I SUSPECT IT MAY BE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, THE ABS/ESP LIGHT FLASHED AND REMAINED ON, AND I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER EXPLAINING THE PROBLEM, AND THEY SAID MY REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS FAILING. THIS IS THE ONLY INDICATOR OF ANY FAULT THAT I CAN TELL. WHEN THE CAR EXHIBITS THIS FAULT, I DO NOT NOTICE ANY FLASHING GEAR INDICATORS OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, EVERYTHING SEEMS NORMAL, EXCEPT THE ENGINE REVS HIGH ALL BY ITSELF. I DO NOT HAVE ANY PHOTOS OR VIDEO EVIDENCE OF THE FAULT AS OF YET AS IT'S VERY UNPREDICTABLE AND INTERMITTENT, BUT I WILL ATTEMPT TO CAPTURE THE PROBLEM IF I CAN IN THE FUTURE.
I DROVE TO WORK LISTENING TO THE RADIO. UPON RETURNING TO MY CAR AFTER WORK TO MAKE MY COMMUTE HOME THE RADIO WOULD NOT TURN ON. I HAVE REVIEWED VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE REVISION OF THIS RADIO FOR THE 2010 MODEL YEAR. THIS MODEL HAS INTEGRATED HANDS FREE BLUETOOTH WHICH ALSO DOES NOT WORK AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR HANDS FREE CALLING REQUIRED IN MY STATE. PAID $1400 FOR EVERYTHING WHEN PICKING UP THE CAR, GOT IN CAR AND RADIO DID NOT WORK WHEN PICKING UP. SAID IT WAS A FUSE, NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. SEPTEMBER 2015 WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING. $45 FOR THAT REPAIR. 2-3 WEEKS LATER BATTERY DIED. REPLACED THE BATTERY FOR $111. 3-4 WEEKS LATER BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN, HAD TO TOW IT TO SHOP. REPLACED BATTERY AGAIN $200+ PARTS AND LABOR. 3-4 WEEKS LATER AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY TWICE, SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. CAR IS DEAD, TOWED TO SHOP AGAIN. CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM, TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP FOR ONE PROBLEM OF THE CAR BEING DEAD NOW THERE IS A SHIFTER PROBLEM AND THE ABS UNIT NEEDS REPLACED. THE ABS LIGHTS WERE NOT ON WHILE THE CAR WAS AT THE LAST SHOP BEFORE THIS DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 5-6 MONTHS IF NOT LONGER DUE TO THESE ISSUES. HOW DOES MY ABS UNIT NEED REPLACED IF IT HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN?
CAR KEPT STALLING AFTER TAKE OFF WHEN YOU ACCELERATED. WHEN TAKING IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP IT WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED THERE. WHEN THEY GOT IT THEY DISCOVERED ALL BUT 1 QUART OF THE OIL IN THE ENGINE WAS GONE. THEY DETERMINED THAT THIS MALFUNCTION DAMAGED THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. HAVE THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 3-5000 MILES AND IT WASN'T DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE FOR ANOTHER 1000 MILES OR SO. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS HAPPENED AND VOLKSWAGEN WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ALL OF THIS TOOK PLACE IN THE CITY. WE WERE TO AFRAID TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR HAS 109000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN A LEMON FROM DAY 1. THIS WAS JUST THE ICING THAT TOPPED THE CAKE.

I WAITED AND ATTEMPTED AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED, DROVE 500 FEET TO THE GAS STATION, FILLED WITH DIESEL. THE LIGHT THEN CAME ON AFTER I STARTED IT AGAIN. I CHECKED THE CODE, P2015. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO DORSCHEL VW IN HENRIETTA, NY. THEY CONFIRMED THE CODE SAID THE INTAKE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SAYING THE FLAP IS DAMAGED AND THEN SWITCHING TO SAY THE RUNNER IS DAMAGED. MOST OF THE TSI ENGINES HAVE HAD THEIR WARRANTY EXTENDED, BUT NOT FOR MY TDI. THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHERS COMPLAINING OF THIS CODE POPPING UP.
RCD-315 RADIO DIED. WHILE DRIVING ON COUNTRY ROAD, RADIO POPPED AND DIED. AFTER ELECTRICAL TEST OF FUSES AND INTERNET SEARCH, I DETERMINED THAT THE RADIO COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE SAFETY ISSUE ON THIS IS THAT THE BLUETOOTH MODULE WAS STILL ACTIVE AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO TURN IT OFF OTHER THAN UNPLUGGING THE BLUETOOTH. SINCE I USE HANDS FREE PHONE, THIS IS A HAZARDOUS FAILURE. I LOCATED 100'S OF WEBSITES THAT TALKED ABOUT THIS RADIO ISSUE AND THE RESULTING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT THIS FAILURE CAUSES. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL PRIORITY.

ALL THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE AUTO WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF HIGHWAY. CARRIED AUTO TO LOCAL SERVICE MAN WHO SAID IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR VOLKSWAGEN TO LOOK AT IT, AS IT INVOLVED MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. ALTHOUGH CAR HAD BEEN TURNED OFF, THE BATTERY HAD TO BE RE-CHARGED TO GET THE CAR TO START IN ORDER TO CARRY TO DEALER - 45 MILES AWAY. WAS TOLD BY VW DEALERSHIP THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE THE FUSE BOX HAD MELTED. STATED THEY HAD SEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THIS. ACTUAL DIAGNOSIS WAS THE FUSE BOX HAD MELTED. I COMMENTED THAT THIS SEEMED STRANGE. I THOUGHT THE PURPOSE OF A FUSE BOX WAS A SAFEGUARD TO PREVENT OVERHEATING AND THAT FUSES WERE SUPPOSE TO BLOW AND STOP THE CURRENT FLOW IF THERE WERE PROBLEMS IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS DRIVING ON SCOTT STREET, WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER RAN THE RED LIGHT ON THE INTERSECTION AND HIT MY CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TOWARDS THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR, AND THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. I INFORMED VW, THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEXT ON MY CAR AND THEIR FINDINGS WAS THAT THE AIRBAG DID WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. I DIDN'T TAKE IT ANY FURTHER.
FIRST NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER BACKUP LIGHT NOT WORKING. 1 STOP AND A FEW MINUTES LATER THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. AFTER RETURNING HOME 15 MINUTES LATER THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SIDE EXCEPT THE TAILLIGHT WAS OUT. AFTER SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET FUSE F16 HAS A KNOWN ISSUE OF MELTING BOTH THE FUSE AND THE FUSE BOX. SURE ENOUGH AFTER REMOVING AND INSPECTING, THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FUSE HAS BEGUN TO MELT AND THE FEMALE FUSE TERMINALS AND PLASTIC FUSE BOX AROUND THE CONNECTION HAVE ALL STARTED TO MELT. TURNING THE FUSE AROUND HAS GOTTEN THE LIGHTS WORKING AGAIN FOR TONIGHT, BUT WILL LIKELY NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX AS A PERMANENT FIX.
WHILE EXCELERATING FROM A RED LIGHT MY CAR WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" AND LOST MOST OF ITS POWER. I COULD NOT DRIVE FASTER THAN 40 MPH OR 2400 RPM. I CONTACTED VW DEALER AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN WHICH WAS ONLY 8 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. ENROUTE TO DEALERSHIP MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED WHICH CAUSED MY TURBO TO ALSO FAIL. THE FUEL IN THE TANK WAS NOT CONTAMINATED, THIS WAS JUST A FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM.
I AM UNABLE TO OPEN THE GAS FILLER FLAP TO FILL MY GAS TANK WITH GAS. THE FILLER FLAP USUALLY OPENS USING THE CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM IN CAR OR THE KEY POD. NEITHER ACTIVATES THE FILLER FLAP NOW. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHICH VOLKSWAGEN DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION FOR.

SO I THOUGHT ONCE I HAD THE NEW BATTERY IT WOULD WORK-IT DIDNT. WENT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT (OFFICIALLY JUST FOR THE RADIO OVER THE SUMMER) DEALER SAID I WOULD NEED A NEW RADIO. SO I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT FOR OVER A YEAR. TODAY IT WAS BITTER COLD IN MI AND MY BATTERY NEEDED A JUMP AGAIN, DURING THIS PROCESS, THE RADIO AGAIN CAME ON FOR A FEW MINUTES. ONCE THE CAR WAS FULLY CHARGED AND ROLLING, THE RADIO COMPLETELY DIED AGAIN. THIS CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD, UNDER 90,000 MILES-IT SHOULD NOT HAVE A RADIO ISSUE. AS A RESULT THE HANDS FREE PHONE SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK EITHER.

P2015 - INTAKE MANIFOLD POSITION FAULT. INTAKE MANIFOLD VALVE MALFUNCTIONS AND STICKS CAUSING A SEVERELY ROUGH IDLE AND ENGINE STALL. THE CAR WAS ATTEMPTED TO BE STARTED AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT IN A GARAGE. THE CAR SUCCESSFULLY TURNED OVER, BUT WAS IN A VERY ROUGH IDLE FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE STALLING. CAR COULD NOT BE RUN CONTINUOUSLY AT ALL AT THIS POINT. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN TO OCCUR AROUND 80,000 MILES, WITH NO INITIAL PERFORMANCE IMPACT, BUT THE PART ULTIMATELY HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 88,000 MILES WHEN THE INCIDENT DESCRIBED ABOVE OCCURRED.
DURING A TRIP, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND AIRBAG SERVICE MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED WHEN I RESTARTED MY CAR AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER, THEY FOUND THE CODE FOR FAULTY N9S - AIRBAG EXCEEDED. AS I UNDERSTOOD IT, I HAD NO AIRBAG PROTECTION DURING THE TIME IT TOOK TO GET THIS FIXED. VW CORPORATE REFUSED TO PAY FOR ANY OF THIS REPAIR, WHICH COST ME $913.58 TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG IN THE STEERING COLUMN. VW CLAIMED THAT MY CAR VIN WAS NOT PART OF ANY PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED AIRBAG SAFETY RECALLS.
