MY 2010 VW JETTA TDI IS THROWING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODES OF P0472 AND P0471. BOTH OF THESE HAVE TO DO WITH EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSORS AND I THINK THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A MANDATORY RECALL. THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP DENIES ANY RECALL WOULD COVER THESE CEL CODES.
DEALERSHIP PERFORMED 90K MILE CHECKUP. ALSO ASKED THEM TO DETERMINE IF CEL P0472 WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. THEY CONFIRMED CODE, AND SAID NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. THE ALSO ADVISED THE CAR IS SHOWING INTERMITTENT CODE OF P0638 FOR THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL (BANK 1). WRITTEN ON THE ESTIMATE BY VW DEALERSHIP IS "TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP, VEHICLE HAD NO THROTTLE CONTROL AND WOULD NOT INCREASE IN ENGINE SPEED. TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY AND EXHAUST PRESSURE SENDER. TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDS CUSTOMER NOT TO DRIVE VEHICLE --VEHICLE WILL AT SOME POINT STOP DRIVING (MOVING) - IT COULD STOP MOVING AT ANY POINT, INCLUDING CROSSING A INTERSECTION". I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WHATEVER WITH MY THROTTLE, BUT DUE TO THEIR DOCUMENTATION, IT APPEARS THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE HERE DESERVING OF A MANDATORY SAFETY RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STOPPED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED RESPOND ON THE WET ROAD. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,647.
JETTA HPFP. IN EARLY 2013 MY JETTA TDI HAD TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE MATERIALS. THE ISSUE HAS JUST HAPPENED AGAIN, SAME SYMPTOMS. ONLY THIS TIME VOLKSWAGEN IS CLAIMING THE FUEL PUMP FAILED DUE TO CONTIMINATED FUEL. MY INSURANCE COMPANY DENIES THAT FACT AND IS POINTING THE FINGER AT VW FOR A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. THE REPAIR IS UPWARDS OF $5000 AND VOLKSWAGEN IS NOT OFFERING TO COVER IT. MY CAR IS NOW SITTING IN DISASSEMBLED STATE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHILE I AM PAYING FOR A RENTAL CAR AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND VW PLAY A PING-PONG MATCH OF PASSING THE BLAME. *JS
HPFP, HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE, IN MOTION ON CITY STREET STOPPED RUNNING, WILL NO LONGER START.
MULTIPLE LIGHTS SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING. FOUND THE F16 FUSE MELTED AS WELL AS FUSE BOX WHERE IT SITS. THIS IS SECOND TIME TO REPLACE FUSE IN 4 MONTHS, FIRST TIME MELTED THIS BAD.
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, CAR LOST ALL POWER, COMPLETELY STALLED IN FLOWING TRAFFIC ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY AND WOULD NOT RESTART.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING MY CAR FOR ONE HOUR. I MADE A QUICK STOP AT MY HOUSE TO PICK SOMETHING UP. I PULLED BACK INTO THE STREET AND STARTED TO DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD WHEN MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO PUSH MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS BY MYSELF AND A TOW TRUCK WERE UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED. AFTER EXTENSIVE TROUBLESHOOTING, THE DEALER DETERMINED MY ENGINE CONTROL MODULE HAD FAILED AND HAD SHUT ALL POWER TO MY FUEL INJECTORS. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT TRAVELING VERY FAST AT THE TIME NOR WAS THERE ANY SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. THIS COST ~$2000 TO REPAIR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THERE WAS A LOUD SNAP THAT CAME FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRINGS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRINGS WERE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL LEAK FROM THE MOTOR ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENGINE, THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAMS SHORTED SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE SKID WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE TRACTION WAS POOR AND THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING WERE LOOSE WHILE BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
OIL LEAK ON BRAKES VACUUM PUMP. USUALLY A CHEAP DEFECTIVE O-RING RESULTING IN BIG OIL LEAK
RADIO ON 2010 VW JETTA TDI DIED DURRING THE SUMMER. NOW, IN NOVEMBER, THE CAR WILL NOT START UNLESS JUMPED WITH ANOTHER CAR OR BATTERY CHARGER. FUSES IN CAR ARE INTACT.
MY RADIO IN THIS CAR SUDDENLY WENT BLACK. ALL DOOR LOCKS WORK WHEN THEY WANT TOO. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS DO NOT WORK. BLUETOOTH IS NO LONGER WORKING SINCE IT IS TIED INTO THE RADIO. IN MY CITY OF GREENVILLE, SC IS IT ILLEGAL TO TALK ON PHONE WHEN DRIVING. THESE ARE MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS SINCE IT RELATES TO MY WIFE AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A BIG PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR JETTA FROM ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY A VOLKSWAGEN IF THEY AS A COMPANY DO NOT SEE THE URGENCY ON THIS ISSUE. WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE SOMEONE LOSING THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THEY ARE CLEARLY AWARE OF?
TRANSMISSION JERKING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR SET OFF GLOW PLUG/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TURNED OFF IGNITION. WARNING LIGHT RESET. JERKING CONTINUED IN GEAR 1ST TO 2ND AND 3RD TO 4TH.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE RADIO JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE HANDSFREE FOR THE RADIO IS NOT WORKING AS WELL. I WAS DRIVING ON A LOCAL ROAD AT THE SPEED OF 25-30 MILES PER HOUR.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. DIAGNOSED BY VW AS A PROBLEM WITH THE "STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING". ALTHOUGH PRESS RELEASE INCLUDED RECALL INFORMATION FOR THIS PART AND PROBLEM, ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL, VW DECLINED TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN ITS RECALL. SINCE THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FOR MY 17 YEAR OLD NEW DRIVER AND SAFETY, I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY OVER $360 TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG PART. VW SAID THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME IF THE VEHICLE DID END UP IN THE RECALL AT A LATER DATE.
DOOR LOCKS FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. BATTERY DRAIN WHEN NOT USED FOR TWO WEEKS, REQUIRING JUMP START (REPLACED BATTERY ONE YEAR AGO). CAR WOULD NOT START (BATTERY WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER, YES THE SAME NEW BATTERY) TOWED TO DEALER WHO SAID THEY REPLACED SOME FUSES. RECENTLY, RADIO WILL NOT POWER ON. DEALER STATES THE RADIO FAILED, FUSES FINE. I HAVE SEEN 100S OF REPORTS OF FAILED RADIOS AND DOOR LOCKS IN THE 2010 JETTA. THERE MUST BE A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE. CARS THAT ARE 5 YEARS OLD (I HAVE SEEN REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING WHEN THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD) ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS HAVE OCCURRED IN THE PAST YEAR, MILEAGE BETWEEN 100-110K.
FORT TWO YEARS I HAVE COMPLAINED TO VW DEALER THAT DOOR LOCKS WERE NOT WORKING. THEY NEVER PUT IT ON A REPAIR/SERVICE FORM. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN, THEY SAID THE DOOR LOCKS WORK FINE, ONE JUST HAS TO PULL TWICE, TO EXIT. BUT THEY COULD NOT SAY HOW TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS WHEN PARKING ON THE STREET. MY DOOR LOCKS HAVE NOT WORKED PROPERLY SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. I TOOK THE BUS TO THE DEALER TO COMPLAIN THAT MY KEYS WERE LOCKED IN THE CAR. THEY SAID THAT WAS "IMPOSSIBLE" AND IT TOOK ME A WEEK AND $500.00 TO GET MY CAR TOWED, NEW KEYS AND RESETS. I AM LIVID. DOORS WON'T ALL LOCK MOST OF THE TIME. OR UNLOCK, MOST OF THE TIME. I BELIEVE THAT NOT BEING ABLE TO RELIABLY EXIT A CAR OR LOCK IT WHEN LEAVING IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT TO YOU ABOUT THIS CAR, THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE OF SOFTWARE THAT STALLED THE CAR IN INTERSECTIONS WHICH HAD TO BE FEDERALLY ORDERED RECALL. I THINK THE DEALER REFUSED TO LOOK INTO THE DOOR LOCKING PROBLEMS DURING WARRANTY IN HOPES THAT I WOULD RETURN AGAIN AND AGAIN TO HAVE LOCKS REPAIRED UNTIL I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS STINKS. AND IT IS CLEARLY UNSAFE.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MAY 2015 DUE TO THE AWESOME FUEL ECCONOMY PAIRED WITH SUPPOSED GREAT RELIABILITY.THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AROUND OCTOBER 2015. I WAS HEADED TO WORK AND THE ENGINE STARTED SKIPPING JUST FOR A SHORT TIME. I DROVE TO WORK WITHOUT ANY MORE ISSUES. WHEN I WAS LEAVING WORK, THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING REAL ROUGH SO I PULLED OVER AND I HEARD A SQUEALING/RATTLING NOISE FROM AN AREA AROUND THE TIMING COVER. THE ENGINE STALLED. I STARTED IT BACK UP AND AFTER MAYBE 10 SECONDS IT STALLED AGAIN AND WOULDN'T START BACK UP. I TOWED THE CAR TO A VW SPECIALIST SHOP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A FAILED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A VW DEALERSHIP AND THEY'RE DIAGNOSTIC WAS THE SAME. THEY SENT OUT A FUEL SAMPLE AND IT FAILED FOR LUBRICITY. I EXPECTED VW TO COVER THIS SINCE THIS WAS A KNOWN VW ISSUE. THE CAR SAT AT A DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A MONTH BEFORE HAVING TO TOW IT BACK HOME. THE REPAIR WILL COST AROUND $5,600. I WOULD FIX IT MYSELF BUT THE PARTS ALONE CAN BE $3,000 TO $4000. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN MAY 2015, SO ONLY GOT TO DRIVE IT FOR FIVE MONTHS. I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH IN THE RELIABILITY AS WELL AS THE CONFIDENCE THAT VW WILL FIX ANY ISSUES THAT ARE DUE TO FAULTY PARTS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL CASES WITH FAULTY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS FROM 2009 TO PRESENT. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION BEFORE. RADIO IN 2010 JETTA TDI STOPPED WORKING. IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS NO POWER BUT ALL FUSES CHECK GOOD. THERE IS MANY MANY OF THESE SAME ISSUES WITH THE DELPHI RADIOS IN THE JETTAS IN 2010. DEAD RADIO AND BATTERY HAS PARASITIC DRAIN MY RADIO DIED. THE SCREEN WENT BLACK WHILE DRIVING AND IT HAS NOT RECOVERED. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD BATTERY DRAINAGE PROBLEMS. ONE OF THE FUSES, #42 I BELIEVE, HAS BLOWN AND I HAVE TRIED TO REPLACE IT, BUT IT BLOWS AGAIN AS SOON AS THE CAR IS TURNED ON. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF ONLINE FORUMS DOCUMENTING THIS AND SIMILAR RADIO PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE PART THAT THE TECHNICIAN REPAIRED CAUSED OTHER MALFUNCTIONS TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR INADVERTENTLY DISENGAGES THE DSG TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN NO POWER TRANSFER TO THE WHEELS. THE CAR ALSO DISPLAYS AN "ESP ERROR" (ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM) IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. ONCE THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF, AND THEN BACK ON, THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED TEMPORARILY. IT HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND POSES DANGER FOR THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS. THIS INITIALLY HAPPENED 2 MONTHS PRIOR AFTER A HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT AND THE BULB STATUS LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGEMENT EVENT OCCURRED ONCE OR TWICE BEFORE THE HEADLIGHT WAS REPLACED. AFTER REPLACING THE LIGHT BULB, THE TRANSMISSION ERROR APPEARED TO RESOLVE ITSELF. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE EVENT OCCURRED FOLLOWING THE FAILURE OF A VALVE STEM WITH TPMS SENSOR ON THE TIRE. THE REPAIR SHOP DID NOT HAVE ANY TPMS SENSORS IN STOCK AND REPLACED THE STEM WITH A RUBBER ONE. THIS RESULTED IN THE TPMS STATUS LIGHT BEING ON IN THE DASH. COINCIDENTALLY, WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS OF THIS, THE DSG TRANSMISSION /ESP ERROR RE-EMERGED. THIS TIME AROUND THE ERROR OCCURRED EVERY 5 TO 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THIS DISENGAGEMENT HAPPENED DURING CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING AT VARYING SPEEDS. DISABLING ESP AND DRIVING IN MANUAL MODE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS LEAVES THE OCCUPANTS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING THROUGH CONSTRUCTION ZONES AND OTHER AREAS WITHOUT ADEQUATE SHOULDERS ON THE ROAD. THE CAR IS UP TO DATE ON PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. CAR IS AT 113,000 MILES. EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 109,000. NEITHER VW OF AMERICA OR WARRANTY COMPANY SAY THEY CAN ASSIST. DEALERSHIP SERVICE CANNOT SPECIFICALLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND SUGGEST EITHER MECHATRONIC UNIT REPLACEMENT ($2,000) MIGHT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IF NOT, COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT ($5,000) IS RECOMMENDED.
I WAS DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS THE DPF (DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER) FAILED. THE FILTER WAS PLUGGED WITH CARBON. THE DEALER ADMITTED TO ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN DEFECT AND BAD ENGINEERING THAT AFFECTED MODELS 2006 - 2010. THEY TOLD ME IT FAILS EVERY 100-110K MILES AND HAS TO BE FIXED! I TOLD THEM I WOULD TAKE IT ELSEWHERE TO GET FIXED AS I WASN'T PAYING THAT KIND OF MONEY. THEY INFORMED ME NO LOCAL SHOP WOULD TOUCH IT. THAT IS NOT TRUE OTHER THAN THE LOCAL SHOP HAD TO BRING IT TO THEM FOR THE "SOFTWARE RESET". I HAVE SINCE LEARNED IT MAY AFFECT LATER MODELS BUT CANNOT CONFIRM. THE DEALER WANTED $2300 TO FIX PLUS TAX.
ADD ANOTHER 2010 VW OWNER TO LIST OF RADIO ISSUES WITH THE CAR. CAR RADIO AND BLUETOOTH ARE NO LONGER WORKING. I CHECKED THE FUSES PER THE OWNER MANUAL, AND RADIO IS STILL NOT WORKING. THIS LOOKS LIKE IT'S BEEN HAPPENING QUITE A BIT ON THE 2010 JETTA. THIS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I AM UNABLE TO CALL WITH THE BLUETOOTH. I CONTACTED VW OF AMERICAN, AND THEY BASICALLY SAID I HAD TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS TEST WHICH I SEE AS BEING POINTLESS SINCE I AM ALREADY KNOW THE RADIO IS DEAD. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE REASON TO HAVE TO PAY $$$ SO I CAN BE TOLD IT'S DEAD. IF A LOT OF JETTA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WHY IS VW REFERRING ME TO CONTACT MY LOCAL VW DEALER TO HAVE THIS FIXED WHEN IT'S BECOMING A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON A LOT OF THE CARS. VW SHOULD BE FIXING THE CAR RADIO ON THE CAR WITH THIS MANY COMPLAINTS OUT THERE. INSTEAD I AM TOLD TO CONTACT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT.

NEED TO DO BOTH SIDES FOR SAFETY. 1/5/16 COST 1200.00 TO REPLACE BOTH BACK BREAK DISKS, CALIPERS AND FLUSH BREAK FLUID AT VW AUTHORIZED DEALER. ISSUE HAPPENED FOLLOWING NORMAL DAY SHOPPING. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT COULD HAVE GOTTEN STUCK BUT THANKFUL I DID NOT DRIVE BACK HOME AND CLOSE TO FRIENDS HOUSE BECAUSE THE WHEEL WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE OR FALLEN OFF ETC. FOUND RUST ON THE IN-TANK PUMP. REPLACED ALL THREE PUMPS, CANISTER, FUEL LINES '*THE INDEPENDENT TOOK IT ONE PIECE AT A TIME AS TO NOT OVERCHARGE. ULTIMATELY, REPLACING THE HPFP SOLVED THE ISSUE. IN FACT, THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR THEY ORIGINALLY REPLACED THEY PUT BACK IN AND IT WORKED, SO THEY RETURNED THE ONE FROM THE DEALER. I STILL HAVE THE SAME TANK OF FUEL AS IT HAD WHEN IT WENT IN, BUT THEY REFUSE TO TEST IT CITING THAT I COULD HAVE PUT ANYTHING IN THERE. I HAVE RECEIPTS FOR MY LAST TANK OF DIESEL, AND MILEAGE/CURRENT TANK LEVELS TO PROVE THAT IT IS THE SAME. CAR HAS HAD ALL THE REQUIRED FACTORY WARRANTY INCLUSIONS, LIKE THE STICKERS AND THE FILLER TANK GUARD. WHAT'S MORE, AT 56,000 MILES (THREE MONTHS AGO) I HAD THE 60K MAINTENANCE DONE AT THE DEALER. DEALER SAYS THEY REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER AND THAT THE RUST IN THE CANISTER IS LIKELY BECAUSE OF ALL THE RAIN WE HAD THOSE THREE MONTHS. MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT AND HARDLY USED, AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE MILES, BUT THAT IS THEIR STORY. CURRENTLY ASKING TO TALK WITH SENIOR LEVEL CUSTOMER CARE. NOT FEELING GOOD ABOUT THIS, ESPECIALLY WITH EVERYTHING HAPPENING WITH DIESELGATE. OUT OF POCKET COSTS ARE $2600 TO DATE. I HAVE KEPT ALL THE PARTS.
THE DAY I RECEIVED THE EMAIL FROM THE NHTSA FOR THE CLOCK SPRINGS FAILING ON MY MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. AT FIRST I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AND THEN I LOST MY HORN AND RADIO CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL. SINCE I HAD JUST READ THE INVESTIGATION THAT IS BEEN INITIATED I KNEW THAT IS WHAT IT WAS. IT IS THE ONLY PART THAT POWERS THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER FOR THAT IS 15V483000. IT STILL DRIVES JUST AS IT ALWAYS HAS BUT I DON'T HAVE ANY STEERING CONTROLS AND IF I WERE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT HARD ENOUGH TO DEPLOY AIR BAGS MY DRIVERS SIDE WOULD NOT DEPLOY.
THE TAIL LIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. DISCOVERED DURING ANNUAL STATE REQUIRED INSPECTION IN SEPTEMBER 2015. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE REGULARLY ON RURAL, CITY AND HIGHWAY ROADS WITHOUT TAIL AND BRAKE LIGHTS AND WAS UNAWARE. A REPAIR TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING WAS REQUIRED. ADDTIONALLY, THE TRUNK LATCH WAS ONLY WORKING INTERMITTENTLY PRIOR TO THIS REPAIR. SINCE THE WIRING REPAIR WAS MADE, I HAVE HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE TRUNK RELEASE NOT WORKING. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOESN'T LOCK AND UNLOCK WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE KEYFOB OR THE BUTTON IN THE CAR TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS. THIS IS A VERY INFREQUENTLY USED DOOR AND IT IS THE DOOR USED THE LEAST IN THE VEHICLE. DEALER STATES IT IS A BAD DOOR LATCH. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED IT. IT DOESN'T ALWAYS OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, SOMETIMES I HAVE TO REACH IN AND OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE TO GET THE DOOR OPEN. ON 01.12.2016 THE CAR RADIO STOPPED WORKING. THE FUSES ARE GOOD AND INTACT. THE BLUETOOTH NO LONGER WORKS SINCE THE RADIO DOESN'T WORK. IT IS COMPLETELY OUT OF SERVICE, NOTHING WORKS ON THE RADIO. I RELIED HEAVILY ON THE BLUETOOTH FOR HANDS FREE PHONE CALLS SINCE THE VEHICLE IS MANUAL TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN DISCOVERED. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES ON IT.
CAR WORKED FINE THE EVENING BEFORE. STARTED THE CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT THE NEXT DAY AND THE RADIO DIDN'T WORK. THERE WASN'T ANY SCREEN OR NOISE. THE PHONE DIDN'T WORK EITHER. THE FUSES WERE CHECKED AND ALL WERE GOOD. THE RADIO (DELPHI P/N 28252585, VW # 1K0035180 AC), WAS TAKEN OUT AND ALL CONNECTIONS WERE GOOD AND TIGHT AS WELL. THERE ARE DIFFERENT WEBSITES FILLED WITH EXAMPLES OF THIS RADIO FAILURE AND VW RECONSTRUCTING A PROPER UNIT FOR 2012. PLEASE BE PROACTIVE AND SEARCH THE WEB FOR YOURSELF AND AS PART OF DOING YOUR JOB. I SEE NO REASON THIS ISN'T A RECALLED ITEM. PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME AND INCLUDE BOTH YOUR NAME AND TITLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE GASKET, SEALANT, THE OIL SEPARATOR, THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER, THE TIMING CHAIN, THE TIMING CHAIN CASE COVER, THE TIMING RAIL TENSIONER AND MULTIPLE OTHER UNKNOWN PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS AVAILABLE.
RADIO & BLUETOOTH SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. NO POWER. FUSES WERE CHECKED AND ALL ARE GOOD. REVIEWING INTERNET AND SEEMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. APPEARS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE BLUETOOTH NO LONGER WORKING.
THE CAR LOST POWER WHILE GOING UPHILL AND WOULD ONLY REACH SPEEDS OF ABOUT 20MPH ON A 40MPH ROAD. THE CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT THE CAR WOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL IT STOPPED POWERING UP TO TOP SPEED.
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE PURCHASING NEW IN OCT 2010 WITH THE DEALER DOING ALL THE MAINTENANCE WORK ON IT. ON 8/30/13 THE RADIO WENT DEAD, DEALER REPLACED AT NO COST TO ME. THIS MORNING 8/17/15 I AGAIN HAVE A DEAD RADIO, SAME AS BEFORE, I CALLED DEALER AND ASKED WHEN THEY REPLACED THE PRIOR ONE AND IT IS ALMOST 2 YEARS TO THE DATE! THIS TIME THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE IT (I HAVE NEVER HAD A FACTORY RADIO GO BAD IN ANY CAR I HAVE OWNED IN 30 PLUS YEARS OF DRIVING CARS). I CAN LIVE WITHOUT THE RADIO, BUT I LIKE THE SAFETY OF HAVING THE HANDS FREE BLUETOOTH TO TALK ON THE PHONE. I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A NEW JETTA FOR MYSELF AND GIVING THIS ONE TO MY TEENAGE SON, BUT I THINK I BETTER UNLOAD THIS ONE IF THE RADIO IS GOING TO KEEP DYING EVERY 2 YEARS. BTW WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME VW WANTED TO INCREASE ITS MARKET SHARE. HERE'S A HINT VW - YOU WILL NOT INCREASE MARKET SHARE IF YOU WILL NOT STAND BEHIND YOUR WHOLE PRODUCT. YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE A PROBLEM HERE WITH THIS RADIO UNIT; DO THE RIGHT THING BY REPLACING THE UNITS AS THEY FAIL.
I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND THE LATEST RECALL DONE BY THE DEALERSHIP. ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER THE RADIO WENT BLANK AND BLACK. ANOTHER PROBLEM HAS BEEN THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO UNLOCK REAR PASSENGER DOOR EXCEPT MANUALLY. AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE LOCK IS NOT WORKING AT ALL ON THAT SIDE AND I AM UNABLE TO LOCK THAT DOOR.

WHEN TRAVELING ON I10 FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70MPH THE ENGINE WENT TO HALF POWER I TRIED TO GET TO A DEALER SHIP BUT BEFORE I COULD THE ENGINE QUIT WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP. ON MY TDI JETTA.
I TOOK MY 2010 JETTA TDI IN TO HAVE THE ECM REPROGRAMMED PER THE NOTICE I RECEIVED FROM VOLKSWAGON THAT SAID THE EGR MIGHT NOT BE READ PROPERLY. THE NEXT DAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TODAY I HAD THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY ARE ADVISING ME THAT MY DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER IS CRACKED AND HAS BEEN FOR A WHILE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE LIGHT ONLY CAME ON AFTER THE REPROGRAMMING. VOLKSWAGON KNEW ABOUT AN ISSUE WITH THE ECM AND NOW I AM STUCK PAYING ALMOST $2000.00 TO GET IT FIXED. THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
STARTED CAR THIS MORNING AND HIT THE POWER BUTTON ON FOR THE RADIO - NOTHING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE WEB, FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PREMIUM 8 VW RADIO. FUSES THAT WERE EASILY ACCESSIBLE CHECKED OUT FINE. RADIO IS COMPLETELY DEAD. USING RESET INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE WEB DID NOT WORK. RADIO WORKED FINE YESTERDAY WHEN I TURNED IT OFF AT HOME.
DROVE CAR TO WORK 0630, STEREO WORKED FINE. LEFT WORK AT 1915, WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE STEREO DID NOT COME ON, SCREEN WAS BLACK, NO SOUND. THOUGHT MAYBE IT BLEW A FUSE. ON MY WAY HOME, THE STEREO STARTED WORKING AGAIN, JUST POPPED ON. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT WENT OFF AGAIN, BUT LOUD A RHYTHIMATIC BEAT STARTED THOROUGH OUT EACH OF THE SPEAKERS, SOUNDED LIKE SOMEBODY HITTING A MICROPHONE THAT WAS ON! I ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE SHORTLY AFTER THAT NOISE STARTED (THANKFULLY) AND TURNED OFF MY CAR. REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION BUT THE LOUD NOISE DID NOT STOP!!! I HAD TO OPEN THE HOOD AND PULL OUT SOME FUSES TO GET IT TO STOP! TWO WEEKS AFTER THIS HAPPENED, MY CAR DIED WHEN WAITING IN A DRIVE-THRU. WE HAD TO PUSH MY CAR. MY CAR WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. NOTHING INSIDE THE CAR WOULD WORK. I CALLED MY HUSBAND, HE OPENED THE HOOD, UNHOOKED A FUSE AND IT STARTED! THE NEXT DAY MY CAR WAS DEAD, HAD TO PUT IT ON A BATTERY CHARGER. I'M AFRAID IF I REPLACE THE STEREO, IT TOO WILL GO OUT AND POSSIBLY SHORT OUT OTHER ELECTRICAL ITEMS IN MY CAR. AS OF NOW, THE STEREO IS IN PLACE BUT UNHOOKED AND MY BATTERY IS FINE. THERE MUST BE A REASON WHY THIS IS HAPPENING TOO SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME STEREO.
CAR IS THROWING P0401 FAULT CODE FOR EGR VALVE INSUFFICIENT FLOW. DEALER STATES THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER IS CRACKED. ACCORDING TO DATA, VW'S EMISSIONS SCANDAL SHOWS 40% MORE POLLUTANTS SPEWING INTO AIR. THIS IS CAUSING EXCESS EMISSION PART FAILURES. DEALER WANTS $2500+ FOR REPAIRS. ACCORDING TO VW FORUMS, THERE ARE MANY CASES OF EGR AND DPF FAILURES. CONTACTED VW AND THEY WILL NOT ASSIST. MY CAR IS DUE FOR SMOG 10/22/2015 AND IS NOT PASSING.

LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN/COMMON COMPLAINT. IT LEADS ME TO WONDER IF THERE ARE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES GOING ON, AND WHAT REPAIRS THOSE WILL LEAD TO. I CALLED THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP (AL SERRA) THIS MORNING AND THEY HAVEN'T CALLED BACK. FROM EVERYTHING THAT I'M READING ONLINE, IT IS COSTLY TO REPLACE THE STEREO. THIS SEEMS TO BE MORE THAN A "COINCIDENCE" AND VW SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

I WAS ACTUALLY STRANDED FROM A TIRE BLOW OUT WITH NO HANDS FREE USE OF MY RADIO WHICH THE POLICE OFFICER THAT HELPED ME SAID THAT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE'S NO REASON FOR A MANUFACTURED RADIO ON A 2010 CAR TO GO OUT. BUILT IN BLUETOOTH / RADIO IS DEFECTIVE, LEAVING PASSENGERS UNABLE TO USE HANDS FREE TECHNOLOGY, AND ALSO ELIMINATES THE NATIONAL ALERT SYSTEM. THE DEAD RADIO ALSO LEADS TO A PARASITIC BATTERY DRAIN, WHICH WILL KILL THE BATTERY OF THE CAR, LEAVING PEOPLE STRANDED, POTENTIALLY IN EXTREME WEATHER SITUATIONS. THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THOUSANDS OF KNOWN CASES ONLINE, YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.

THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS I CAN NO LONGER USE BLUETOOTH TO TALK ON THE PHONE. IN FACT IN SOME STATES I TRAVEL THRU IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE THE PHONE WITHOUT BLUETOOTH. THE HPFP FAILED ON MY VEHICLE CAUSING METAL TO CONTAMINATE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. VWOA STATES THAT THEY WILL ONLY COVER VEHICLES WITH UNDER 120000 MILES. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS SLIGHTLY OVER THAT AMOUNT. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE, THIS PROBLEM HAS EFFECTED A LARGE AMOUNT OF VW TDI OWNERS. SINCE DIESELS ARE PURCHASED FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY, EXTENDING THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES WILL NOT COVER MOST 5 YEAR OLD DIESELS ON THE ROAD. VW NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAILURE AND ISSUE A RECALL TO THOSE IMPACTED BY THIS FAILURE.
