The dashboard on 3rd generation Acura TL has a design defect to where they will crack all over. In the event of a crash which results in a passenger-side dashboard airbag deployment, the dashboard can rip uncontrollably and send shards of rubber flying at everyone's face in the car and prevent the airbag from deploying properly. This is a very well known problem with this generation of Acura TL and the dealership refuses to address as a warrantied safety concern.

NEAR HEAD-ON COLLISION ON UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD IN HIGHLANDS RANCH, COLORADO INVOLVING THIS VEHICLE ON OCTOBER 13, 2020. OUR CLIENT WAS A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER AND HER CURTAIN SIDE AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DASHBOARD HAS DEVELOPED CRACKS IN THE AREA AROUND THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG. DOES THIS CONSTITUTE A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AFFECTING THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING PROPERLY OR POSSIBLY SHARDS FROM THE DASHBOARD CAUSING ADDITIONAL INJURY? THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT BUT AM CONCERNED IF A COLLISION DOES HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE.
MY 2004 ACURA TL DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS CRACKED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AIRBAG.I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGER BECAUSE OF THE POSITION OF THE CRACKS COULD POSSIBLY DEPLOY THE AIRBAG AND CAUSE INJURY.
SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND DID NOT HIT A POTHOLE. RESEARCH ONLINE FINDS THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT ACURA DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE CONCERNED. AIRBAG EXPLOSION ALONE WAS LOUD ENOUGH TO ALMOST CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE SCARE.
THE DASHBOARD PANEL OF MY 04 ACURA TL IS SEVERELY CRACKED. MY CONCERN IS IF IN THE EVENT AN AIRBAG DID DEPLOY DUE TO FALSE SENSORS OR EVEN DUE TO AN ACCIDENT, HOW MUCH DAMAGE WILL THIS CAUSE ME? I UNDERSTAND THAT AN AIRBAG WILL ANNIHILATE THE DASH IF ACTIVATED AND HOPEFULLY DAMAGES ARE MINIMAL BUT THAT WAS TESTED WITH A DASHBOARD PANEL THAT WAS FULLY INTACT. I'M A LITTLE CONCERNED SINCE I ALSO HAVE 98 FORERUNNER AND THE DASH PANEL IS NEARLY EMACULANT. I FEEL THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE PLASTIC IN THESE VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED.
DASH IS COMPLETELY COVERED IN CRACKS. I FEEL LIKE THIS CAN'T BE SAFE WITH THE AIRBAGS UNDERNEATH THE CRACKS. ALSO, WHENEVER A PASSENGER IS IN MY CAR THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON.
A CRACK HAS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD OVER TOP OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. WORRIED ABOUT PASSENGER SAFETY AND AIRBAG EFFECTIVENESS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DCH ACURA OF TEMECULA (951-428-2317, LOCATED AT 26705 YNEZ RD, TEMECULA, CA 92591) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE EXCEPT TO COVER THAT PART OF THE DASHBOARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED. *DT
AS YOU CAN SEE, THESE AREN'T SMALL HAIRLINE CRACKS, THEY ARE NASTY A## LONG CRACKS ALL OVER. EACH DAY THE CRACK GET WORST AND OPEN. IT DANGEROUS BECAUSE THERE IS AIRBAGS UNDER THOSE DASHBOARD.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND AIR BAG IS DEACTIVATED DUE TO DEFECTIVE SWITCH IN SEAT BELT BUCKLE. MANUFACTURER HAS LIFETIME SEAT BELT WARRANTY BUT WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THAT THE SWITCH IS PART OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM AND NOT PART OF THE SEAT BELT. SO MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER HAS TO DRIVE A CAR WITH NO AIR BAGS BECAUSE HONDA/ACURA WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS, AS IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

AS WITH OTHER POSTS, CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ARE PRONOUNCED AND GETTING WORSE OVER TIME. VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS IN AN OTHERWISE RELIABLE VEHICLE WHICH HAS MANY MORE YEARS (AND MILES) OF USEFUL SERVICE.
TAKATA RECALL. 2004 ACURA TL DASH BOARD NOTICED A LONG CRACK THEN THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG LIGHT NO LONGER TURNS ON. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE MY GARAGE ON 6/20/17. CHECKED ONLINE AND MANY OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. THE CRACK IF VERY CLOSE TO THE AIRBAG AND I AM AFRAID IT MAY DEPLOY AT ANY MOMENT WHILE DRIVING CAUSING IT TO BE UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. SOME TO MOST OWNERS ARE RECEIVING A RECALL OR REPLACEMENT FOR THE ERORR ACCORDING TO TAKATA RECALL.

DASHBOARD CRACKING FOR NO REASON. CRACKS ARE IN MANY PLACES AND OCCUR NEAR THE DASH AIR BAG WHICH IS CONCERNING IF IT EVERY GOES OFF COULD SEND SHARP PIECES OF THE DASH INTO MYSELF OR A PASSENGER (WIFE, DAUGHTER). PHOTOS CAN BE TAKEN IF NEEDED.
