The contact owns a 2006 Audi A4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the wife crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. During the crash the front driver side air bag did not deploy, however, the passenger side airbag did deploy, and both the front and rear driver side and passenger side headrest restraints activated. The contact indicated that no passengers were present in the vehicle during the crash. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The local dealer was notified. The failure mileage was 160,000.
AUDI ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT I FOUND ON YOUR WEBSITE. THIS BULLETIN WAS REGARDING THE EXACT PARTS THE DEALER (AUDI) IDENTIFIED AS BEING AFFECTED ON MY CAR (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, CAM FOLLOWER, AND CORRESPONDING INTAKE CAMSHAFT CAM LOBE). THIS BULLETIN (NOT A RECALL, BUT DISTRIBUTED INTERNALLY TO DEALERSHIPS) CLEARLY STATES THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAT AFFECTED ALL VIN RANGES OF SPECIFIED AUDI MODELS FROM 2005-2007 THAT INCLUDED MINE. AUDI EXTENDED DRIVETRAIN COVERAGE ON THESE VEHICLES TO 10YR/120K MI. THIS ISSUE CAUSES A WORSENING LOSS OF POWER UPON ACCELERATING (MAKING DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS DANGEROUS) AND EVENTUAL ENGINE FAILURE IF LEFT ALONE. I AM THE 3RD OWNER OF THIS CAR, SO I DID NOT RECEIVE THE INTENDED LETTER FROM AUDI STATING THE SPECIFICS OF THIS COVERAGE EXTENSION. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT ~110K MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS SERVICE (~4-5 DAYS AGO). UPON BRINGING THIS BULLETIN TO THE ATTENTION OF AUDI SERVICE MANAGER, HE DID NOT ASK ME FOR THE BULLETIN NUMBER OR REVISION, HE JUST DENIED COVERING IT VERBALLY SAYING THE COVERAGE WAS "10YR/120K MI, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST" BUT WOULD NOT SEND ME A COPY OF THE EXTENSION LETTER PROVING THIS. THE COST OF REPAIRS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE IS ~$5,600. I OPENED A CASE WITH AUDI OF AMERICA. I PROVIDED THE REQUESTED INFO, AND WAS STILL NOT SENT/EMAILED A COPY OF THIS LETTER, OR PROOF THAT IT WAS SENT TO THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD CASES TAKE UP TO A WEEK TO REVIEW (THEY WOULD NEED ME TO PROVIDE SERVICE RECORDS FOR THE VEHICLE, ETC). I WAS CALLED LESS THAN 24HRS LATER THAT THE CASE WAS DENIED, BEFORE I PROVIDED ANY INFO OR PLED MY CASE THAT A COMPANY WITH THE SLOGAN "TRUTH IN ENGINEERING" SHOULD STAND BEHIND AN ACKNOWLEDGED ENGINEERING FLAW. REPAIRS ARE ~1.5X THE VALUE OF THE CAR. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THIS AND IT CREATES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. PLEASE HELP.
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE A FEW MONTHS AGO (JULY OF 2020). BEFORE BUYING IT I WAS TOLD THAT THE WARNING CHIME FOR THE SEATBELT HAD STOPPED WORKING , SO I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL GERMAN AUTO SHOP TO SEE WHAT WOULD NEEDED TO FIX IT. TO MY SURPRISE, IT'S A PART IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THAT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, BUT IT'S A COMMON ISSUE AS THESE CARS AGE FOR THE WARNING CHIME TO FAIL THEREFORE NOT NOTIFYING OR WARNING IF THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER BELT IS BUCKLED. WARNING CHIME DOES NOT WORK WHETHER STATIONARY, OR MOVING FOR ANY SEAT IN THE VEHICLE.
MY PERSONAL AUDI A4 WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION ON AN INNER-CITY ROAD DUE TO LOSS OF FRICTION ON FROZEN ICE. DESPITE THERE ONLY BEING A DRIVER PRESENT IN THE CAR, THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG FROM THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT ACTIVATE WHILE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DID. I HAD ALREADY PREVIOUSLY CHECKED THE TAKATA RECALL, WHICH AFFECT THE EXACT MODEL OF MY VEHICLE, YET WHEN I ENTERED THE VIN, IT DISPLAYED THAT NO RECALLS WERE PRESENT. THE COLLISION HAPPENED AT A SPEED OF LESS THAN 25 MPH, AND THE UNNEEDED DAMAGE COSTS PF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS ALONGSIDE THE HEALTH RISKS OF NOT HAVING AN AIRBAG DEPLOY FOR THE DRIVER HAS LED ME TO FILING THIS COMPLAINT AS IT WAS A VERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE.
LEFT HEAD LIGHT FLICKERS AND SHUTS ITSELF OFF AFTER VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AND THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN ON FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THE WARNING DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD GIVES A "LEFT HEADLIGHT LEVEL" ERROR CODE.
I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM JOHN AND HE STATED HE DROVE IT APPX 30-40K MILES SINCE HE RECEIVED THE CAR. BUT IN 2016 THE MILES ON THE PINK SLIP SAYS 149214 AND NOW THE MILES ARE AT 150700. I BELIEVE HE TAMPERED WITH THE ODOMETER, TURNED IT OFF AND DROVE THE CAR WITHOUT THE ODOMETER ON. WHEN I ASKED HIM HE SAID IN THE LAST 3- 4 YEARS HE DROVE IT 30-40K MILES. I ASKED HIM WHY IS THE ODOMETER NOT SHOWING THOSE MILES AND HE DIDNT KNOW HOW TO REPLY.
Gas gauge displaying incorrect level of fuel. Oil level notification improperly displaying level of oil.
VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHTS. WHEN I TURN THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM GOES OUT.
THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF, AND HAVE TO BE MANUALLY TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON. REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS OF LIGHTS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. COMPLETE REMOVAL OF THE XENON BALLAST AND SEALING THE BALLAST SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, AND SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE BALLAST THAT CAUSES MOISTURE TO INVADE, AND SHORT THE HEADLIGHTS OUT.
CVT TRANSMISSION TOTAL FAILURE - TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST ADVISES THAT SEVERAL OF THE FIRST CVT TRANSMISSIONS RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC WERE DEFECTIVE IN DESIGN AND PRODUCTION, AND HAVE BEEN UPGRADED OVER THE YEARS TO CORRECT FOR THESE EARLY DEFICIENCIES. THE SPECIALIST FURTHER ADVISES THAT AUDI AND SATURN ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THESE DEFECTS. IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE TRAVELING ON A MAJOR ROADWAY. ALL OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS IN THE GEAR SELECTOR STARTED FLASHING SIMULTANEOUSLY, AND THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT IMMOBILE IN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS POSITION. AUDI QUOTED MORE THAN $8,000 TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR WAS COMPLETED BY A LOCAL TRANSMISSION EXPERT FOR A LITTLE OVER $5,000. IT IS THIS EXPERT WHO ADVISED OF THE LONG-STANDING AND WELL-ESTABLISHED PROBLEMS IN AUDI'S EARLY CVT TRANSMISSIONS, AND SAID DEFINITIVELY THAT AUDI SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO HANDLE THIS AS A SAFETY AND DESIGN/MANUAFACTURING DEFECT RECALL.
ON 7/15/18 I HAD A MYSTERIOUS ACCIDENT IN OTTAWA COUNTY, MICHIGAN, WHERE I WAS KNOCKED OUT FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OFF ANYTHING AT LEAST A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. MY 2006 A6 QUATTRO 3.2 AVANT (STATION WAGON) WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE COUNTY POLICE RESCUED ME AND SENT ME TO THE HOLLAND HOSPITAL FOR A SERIES OF VERY COSTLY PROCEDURES. THE POLICE REPORT WROTE THAT THE AIRBAG WAS DEPLOYED. AND BECAUSE IT WAS NOT IN A MAJOR INTERSECTION, A SIMPLE STOP SIGN AT THE US-31, FROM THE INFORMATION IN THE REPORT, I SUSPECT I HAD NOT FACED ANY IMPENDING CRASH TO HAVE HAD TO PUSH THE BREAKS HARD, AND MY VEHICLE ONLY STOPPED BECAUSE IT HIT A VALLEY SHAPED DITCH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF RELATED TAKATA AIRBAG FAILURES ON THOSE TYPES OF CARS, BY THE, ON BOTH SIDES, I SUGGEST A THOUGHROUGH INVESTIGATION OF THE CASE. I WAS BLESSED OR LUCKY TO HAVE NOT LOST MY LIFE NOR BECAME SERIOUSLY INJURED, BUT MY FINANCIAL LOSSES AND LEGAL COMPLICATIONS AMOUNTED TO A LOT. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AT RISK OF NOT HAVING THEIR LIVES END BECAUSE OF AN UNNECESSARY MECHANICAL FAILURE IN THE AUDI VEHICLES.

THE DIGITAL DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARM. AS SUCH ITEMS SUCH AS A MALFUNCTIONING BRAKE SYSTEM, ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL AND ENGINE OIL PRESSURE ALERTS CANNOT BE KNOWN.

"TAKATA RECALL" STILL WAITING TO GET APPROVED TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED. AUDI DEALER SAYS THERE IS STILL NO RESOLUTION. MY CAR IS GETTING OLD (2006). WANT TO GET IT REPLACED BEFORE IT EXPLODES OR IF THERE SHOULD BE AN ACCIDENT.

CONTATING AUDI SHREWSBURY (508-581-5800) SINCE JANUARY 2018. TALKED TO EVAN AND AS OF TODAY THEY HAVE NOT ADVISE OF AN APPOINTMENT TO CHANGE THE TAKATA PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG. ANYTIME I CALLED THEY ANSWER THAT HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE AIRBAG. 8 MONTHS????
THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT KEEPS FLICKERING. IT WILL TURN OFF SOMETIMES WHEN USING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, THE HEADLIGHT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE. WHEN IT FLICKERS, AN INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATES ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIRING PROBLEM. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WERE CHANGED AND BRAND NEW WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. TWO YEARS LATER, THIS FLICKERING BEGAN. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE FLICKERING OF THE HEADLIGHT IS TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF THE HEADLIGHTS FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN TURN THEM BACK ON. EVERYTHING IS FINE AFTER THAT. PLEASE RECALL THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ MANY POSTS ONLINE WITH OTHER AUDI A4 OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES.

MANUFACTURER HAS NO FUTURE DATE FOR SAFETY CONCERN BEING RESOLVED. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT HIGH MILEAGE DUE TO TORQUE CONVERTER SEAL FAILURE AND VOLTAGE SPIKE TO SOLENOID 3 CAUSING TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURES TO RISE AND RESULT IN PREMATURE FAILURE OF ZF 6HP19A TRANSMISSION. HAVE CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AND ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG TO REPORT PREMATURE FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION, HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED CAUSING SUDDEN SPEED DROP ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, NO INJURIES REPORTED BUT ACCIDENT PRONE.
TAKATA RECALL THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG INFLATORS FOR QUITE SOME TIME. APPARENTLY THERE IS STILL NOT A REMEDY FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE USING MY VEHICLE AS I TYPICALLY HAVE TO CARRY PASSENGERS. THEY NEED TO FIX MY CAR!
2006 AUDI A4 QUATTRO, A VERY ANNOYING SITUATION IT ALSO AFFECTS SAFETY WHILE DRIVING IN DARK; I IGNORED IT FOR FEW MONTHS AS IT GOT WORST DECIDED TO TAKE IT IN. THEY SUGGESTED TO REPLACE BOTH IGNITERS (XENON BALLAST) AND BULBS. MY AUDI DEALER SAID THAT AUDI KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT -- CHANGING THE LIGHT BULB DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SINCE MY CAR WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY IT WOULD BE ABOUT $1600. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING A LOT RECENTLY WITH THE COLD WEATHER. I CAN'T TELL FOR SURE WHETHER IT IS TEMPERATURE RELATED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND MOST IMPORTANTLY A MAJOR SAFETY

VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE CALLED ATLANTIC AUDI OF WEST ISLIP AND THEY SAID THAT AUDI CANNOT PROVIDE THE PARTS FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL. THEY ALSO CAN'T GIVE AN ESTIMATE WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE.
I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT WAS RECALLED THE AIRBAG?
I GET A "RIGHT DIPPED HEADLIGHT" MESSAGE AND MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT GOES OUT. I CAN CORRECT THE ISSUE BY TURNING THE HEADLIGHTS OFF AND BACK ON BUT THIS IS NOT SAFE AFTER DARK. THE CAR HAS BEEN DOING THIS WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY ESPECIALLY OVER THE PAST YEAR. IT OCCURS MORE WHEN IT'S RAINING AND MORE AFTER DARK-WHEN YOU MOST NEED THE HEADLIGHTS. IT WILL COST ME ABOUT $1600 TO GET THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED BUT APPARENTLY THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE IN NO WAY DAMAGED THE HEADLIGHTS. WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THIS CAR. THIS SITUATION HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
THE AUDI DEALER DID NOT CHANGE THE TAKATA AIRBAGS AS STATED IN THE RECALL.
TAKATA RECALL ATTEMPTS TO HAVE THE INFLATOR REPLACED AT TWO AUDI DEALERSHIPS HAVE FAILED. I'VE RECEIVED TWO RECALL LETTERS STATING THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I ALSO ATTEMPTED TO REACH AUDIUSA AT 800-253-2834 AND AFTER WAITING A HALF HOUR MY CALL WAS DROPPED. I'M SEEKING DIRECTION ON HOW TO GET AN AUDI DEALERSHIP TO HONOR THE RECALL. THANK YOU!

BOTH REAR SEAT LATCHES/LOCKS (THAT ALLOW THE REAR SEATS TO BE FOLDED DOWN) HAVE FAILED ALLOWING THE REAR SEAT BACK REST TO FOLD DOWN DURING RAPID DECELERATION. THE PASSENGER SIDE FAILED FIRST APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO AND NOW DRIVER SIDE HAS FAILED. REAR PASSENGERS COULD BE INSURED IN AN ACCIDENT IF REAR SEAT BACKREST IS UNSECURED.

TAKATA RECALL - RECALL HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED FOR NEARLY A YEAR, BUT THE REPAIR SOLUTION IS STILL PENDING
AUDI USA HAS A KNOW MECHANICAL DEFAULT WITH CAM SHAFT AND CAM FOLLOWERS. AS PER MY MECHANIC ANY DAMAGE TO THE CAM SHAFT COULD BE DANGEROUS. ACKNOWLEDGING THIS DEFECT 6 YEARS AFTER PRODUCTION AUDI EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES FOR THIS PARTS TO 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES SO THAT THEY ARE REPLACED AT FIRST INDICATIONS OF TROUBLE RATHER THEN ACTUAL MECHANICAL BREAKAGE WHICH COULD BE HARMFUL. AUDI ONLY NOTIFIED ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE ON RECORD. SINCE I HAD BOUGHT THE ARE USED I WAS NOT NOTIFIED BY AUDI OR MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP OF THE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THESE PARTS AND EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON THEM. WITHOUT KNOWING ABOUT THE WARRANTY I HAD SERVICE DONE ON THE CAM FOLLOWER TWICE COSTING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. NOW THE PROBLEM IS THE CAM SHAFT WHICH IS GOING TO COST ABOUT $4500 TO REPAIR. EVEN THOUGH MY CAR HAS ONLY 91000 MILES (LESS THAN THE 120000 MILES REQUIRED BY AUDI) IT IS OVER THE 10 YEAR PERIOD. I AM SOMEWHAT DISMAYED THAT THIS WAS NOT ESCALATED TO BE A SAFETY RECALL BY AUDI SO THAT ALL OWNERS COULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND THE PART REPLACED IN A TIMELY FASHION. I AM IN A QUANDARY - PAY $4500 IN REPAIRS WHICH I CANNOT AFFORD OR RISK DRIVING WITH A PART THAT COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE A MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I FIND OUT THE RECALL TODAY BY MYSELF, IT TURNS OUT THAT AUDI IS STILL NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE REPAIR FOR MY VEHICLE. DRIVING SUCH A VEHICLE IS VERY DANGEROUS TO THE FRONT PASSENGER. AUDI AS THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF IT.
