Rolled down back window it broke and didn’t go back up
MY CAR WAS SITTING IN THE GARAGE WHEN, AT SOME POINT, THE SUNROOF BROKE FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND DISPLAYS NO SIGN OF IMPACT DAMAGE FROM ANYTHING EXTERNAL. THERE ARE PIECES OF THE GLASS SITTING ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS FINE DEBRIS COVERING THE OUTSIDE PORTION OF THE GLASS, SHOWING THIS DID NOT OCCUR WHILE DRIVING OR FROM ANY EXTERNAL CAUSE. THE TEMPERATURE IS IN THE LOWER 90S AND NO ONE ELSE WAS HOME OR HAD ACCESS TO THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325XI. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE HEATER BLOWER FAILED TO DISBURSE AIR AND THE PANEL INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (ERHARD BMW OF BLOOMFIELD, 1845 S TELEGRAPH RD, BLOOMINGFIELD HILLS, MI 48302) AND WAS ADVISED TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *BF *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325XI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPENING THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW, THE GLASS WENT OFF TRACK AND FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ONCE ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND THREE TIMES ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
IT WAS RAINING REALLY HEAVY WITH LIGHTNING AND THUNDERSTORMS AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORM LIGHTNING CAME DOWN AND MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO A SAFE PLACE ON THE HIGHWAY TO WAIT FOR THE HEAVY RAIN TO STOP BEFORE I COULD DRIVE AGAIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE WOULD ACTIVATE THE AUTOMATIC FOLDING MIRRORS, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE MIRROR WOULD TURN COMPLETELY AROUND AND FACE THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A LOCKING MECHANISM FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO MANUALLY TURN THE MIRROR BACK AND WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE MIRROR WOULD SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MINUTES OF DRIVING IN THE RAIN WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON, THE WIPERS SHUT OFF AND QUIT WORKING WITHOUT WARNING. IT TAKES ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OF TIME BEFORE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGIN TO WORK AGAIN. THIS IS CONCERNING DUE TO POOR VISIBILITY AND MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. *TR
I WAS IN MY CAR (BMW 325I - 2006) WITH TWO KIDS, A TODDLER AND A NEWBORN. I LOCKED THE DOOR AND WINDOW BECAUSE MY TODDLER WANTED TO OPEN THE DOOR. LATER I TRIED TO ROLL DOWN THE REAR WINDOW AND HEARD A CRACK. THE WINDOW WAS BROKEN. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY YOU HAVE KIDS IN THE CAR. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE WINDOW BROKEN AND DOWN WITH MY KIDS IN THERE. THE WEATHER WAS COLD AND OF COURSE WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE MY TODDLER KNOWS HOW TO OPEN THE SEAT BELT AND ALSO POSSESSED DANGEROUS TO OTHER VEHICLES AS SHE CAN THROW TOYS OUT OF THE WINDOW. I WILL TAKE MY VEHICLE TO BMW DEALER TOMORROW TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO TO FIX THE SITUATION. I'VE NEVER HAD EXPECTED THAT I CAN ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW WHILE IT IS LOCKED. HOW DO I SUPPOSE TO REMEMBER THAT THE WINDOW HAS BEEN LOCKED OR WHAT IF MY SPOUSE LOCKED IT WHILE SHE DROVE. I'VE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
2006 BMW 330XI WIPER FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 80 DURING SEVERE THUNDERSTORM, THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND FAILED IN FIXED POSITION. HAD TO PULL OVER CAR...SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED AND THEY WORKED AGAIN, BUT INTERMITTENT FEATURE FAILED. WIPERS WOULD NOT RESPOND BEFORE CAR SHUTDOWN/RESTART. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED DURING A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CEASED TO OPERATE. THIS CAUSED AN IMMEDIATE DANGEROUS SITUATION, WHEREIN VISIBILITY WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. NOT ONLY WAS THERE A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WATER BLOCKING MY VIEW, BUT THE WIPERS THEMSELVES HAD STOPPED IN A SLIGHTLY VERTICAL POSITION, ALSO BLOCKING MY VIEW. THIS SITUATION CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, AS WE CAREFULLY AND CAUTIOUSLY ATTEMPTED TO GET OFF OF THE FREEWAY AND AWAY FROM OTHER TRAFFIC. AFTER SITTING AT REST IN THE CAR, ENGINE RUNNING, FOR UP TO 15 MINUTES, THE WIPERS FINALLY CAME BACK ON AGAIN. I HAD TRIED TO MANUALLY ENGAGE THE WIPERS BY ACTIVATING THE CONTROL STALK, WITH NO EFFECT. I ALSO TRIED TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING, WITH NO EFFECT. I SCHEDULED AN EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT AT THE BMW DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, CONFIRMING THAT THERE HAD BEEN A FAULT IN THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEM FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE MECHANICAL LINKAGE FROM THE MOTOR TO THE WIPERS, EVEN THOUGH THE DIAGNOSTIC HAD BEEN INCONCLUSIVE ON THE LINKAGE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE LOCKS FAILED TO UNLOCK IN 2007. ALL OF THE LOCKS ARE ELECTRONIC AND THERE IS A MASTER UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO DRIVE TO THE SERVICE DEALER IN ORDER TO BE LET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAD TO RESET THE COMPUTER CHIP IN THE LOCKS. ON MARCH 22, 2008, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE DEALER HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE DOOR LOCKS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPLACEMENT, THE ELECTRIC MIRRORS FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MOTOR FAILED SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE DEALER PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A NEW VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 38,000.
TL*- THE CONTACT STATE THAT ALL OF THE WINDOWS IN THE CAR CAME DOWN ON THEIR OWN, WHILE THE CAR WAS OFF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAS NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP.
WHILE WASHING CAR IN HOT SUN THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHEN HIT WITH COLD WATER FROM HOSE. DEALER CLAIMS IT WAS AN IMPACT BREAK CAUSED BY WINDSHIELD WIPER BEING PULLED UP AND DROPPED ONTO WINDSHIELD. IF WINDSHIELD WIPER BROKE WINDSHIELD (WHICH GIVEN THE LENGTH OF THE SOFT RUBBER WIPER WE FIND IT HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT IMPACT OF A DROPPED WIPER BLADE COULD OR SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO BREAK A WINDSHIELD THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND MUCH MORE SEVERE ROAD HAZARD IMPACT OR IF IT WAS DONE BY COLD WATER ON AN EXTREMELY HOT SUN HEATED WINDSHIELD....EITHER WAY THIS WINDSHIELD COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE STRONG AND MADE TO SAFETY STANDARDS. THE WINDSHIELD IS SURROUNDED BY A BLACK BACKING ON THE OUTER EDGES AND IT GETS VERY HOT WHEN THE SUN IS AT THE PROPER ANGLE SHINING DOWN ON THE CAR. WE DISCOVERED THESE INTENSELY HOT EDGES OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN WASHING THE CAR. WHEN WE HIT THE WINDSHIELD WITH COLD WATER IT SHATTERED AND CRACKED. THERE WERE TWO OF US WASHING THE CAR AND WE KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED DESPITE THE DEALERS CLAIM OF IMPACT DAMAGE FROM A "DROPPED WIPER". WE HAVE SAVED THE DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD FOR NHTSA SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO INVESTIGATE THIS COMPLAINT. THE DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD IS IN OUR GARAGE AND WE WILL KEEP IT THERE FOR THE NEXT 90 DAYS. IF WE DO NOT HEAR FROM YOU REGARDING YOUR NEED FOR THE DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD THEN WE WILL PUT IT OUT FOR TRASH COLLECTION. THANKS. *NM
