This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.
This recall involves aftermarket parts sold by Valeo. Valeo is recalling certain engine cooling fans, part numbers 696121, 696273, and 696275, used as service replacement parts for model year 2008-2011 BMW 1-Series, 2006-2011 BMW 3-Series, 2000-2009 BMW 5-Series, 2004-2005 BMW 6-Series, and 2006-2007 BMW 7-Series vehicles. A metal-oxide semiconductor may overheat due to insufficient screwing of the semiconductor on the aluminum heat sink. This primary failure could cause adjacent components on the fan assembly motor circuit board to overheat and short.
Remedy Status
Valeo will notify owners and replace the fans free of charge. The safety recall began on August 22, 2012. This recall is being conducted by Valeo, not by BMW. For further information, owners may contact Valeo at 1-888-718-2536.
BMW IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2010 5-SERIES, 6-SERIES, AND MODEL YEAR 2002-2008 7-SERIES VEHICLES. A CHECK VALVE OF THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP MAY LEAK A SMALL AMOUNT OF LUBRICATING OIL. OVER TIME THIS COULD RESULT IN CONTAMINATION OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER.

Front passenger occupancy sensor failure
I had my car towed to BMW OF WEST SPRINGFIELD MA, to get car initially overhaul and completely fixed I understand that are six underlying recalls airbags, odb communications, brakes, electrical, door latches, after calling and letting them know my car was on its way, I requested a courtesy call and no was given I call two days later to be told my car wasn’t on the lot, then to be called back hours later to be told they could not find key to my vehicle, also they tried to make me pay for the lost key in WHICH THEY LOST, they still refuse to fix the recall and are requesting me get it towed out at there expense the recalls can only be fixed by BMW, also MASSACHUSETTS AND FEDERAL LAW REQUIRES THEM TO BE FIXED, so therefore the car cannot leave the lot until recall is fixed
1) The electrical section of the dashboard for speed, checking gas levels etc. is no longer visible. It is available for inspection! 2) For the obvious reason: unable to determine all safety measures such as speed, driving safety such as gas level, warning signals etc.! 3) The problem was the result of numerous visits to the dealership regarding the rain leaking into the car. Which they said they were unable to find a leak or leaks. Advised the of possible recall re: car latch issues where the water leaks into the car via trunk etc. They finally realized their error. But failed to repair. Said it was a recall issue. 4) As mentioned...Has been inspected numerous times by the dealership in Willoughby, OH! 5) Of course there were warning signs that there was a problem or would eventually be a problem when water starts getting into your car: when it shouldn't (doors closed, windows up sunroof closed etc. However, as I said previously, the dealership inspected the car enough times to find what the problem was and avoid the damage cause: (UNLESS IT IS/WAS AN ISSUE THAT WARRANT A RECALL OF THE CAR'S SEALING, SUNROOF, LATCH ETC. THAT WAS DEFFECTIVE!!! NOTE: The dealership indicated that the water was getting in to the car, but couldn't stop it from getting in didn't have the knowledge to fix? Wouldn't that be a recall matter? MY SAFETY & OTHERS IS AT STAKE IF YOU DON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF A DEFECT IN THIS BMW.
My soft closing door is not closing correctly. The door is being left open. Which you could eject from car.

TOOK IN FOR REPAIR FOR WATER GETTING INTO CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO DEALER. TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM OR WHERE ANY WATER WAS GETTING INTO CAR. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN, TOLD THAT THEY CLEANED WATER LINES ETC. SO, SHOULD BE OK. HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING IT HOME & ONCE A GOOD RAIN CAME, IT GOT WET INSIDE THE CABIN/CAR AGAIN! THEY HAD THE CAR, WORKED ON IT ETC. HOWEVER, WHEN IT WAS PICKED UP AGAIN, TOLD THAT THE DASH SCREEN WAS DAMAGED. BUT RATHER THAN BLAME IT ON THE WATER GETTING INTO THE CAR ETC.; THEY BLAMED IT ON SOMETHING ELSE WHICH COST AN UNBELIEVABLE PRICE TO REPAIR. OR THEY FAILED TO ADMIT THEIR UNBELIEVABLE CAR CARE AND CUSTOMER CARE/SERVICE. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE LOST OF BEING ABLE TO SEE THE CAR DASH, SCREEN ETC.: ALL OF THE SYSTEMS INFORMATION: GAS LEVEL, SPEED, LIGHTS, NAVIGATION ETC. HAS BEEN LOST.
MY 2007 BMW LI JUST STARTED THROWING ITSELF INTO PARK WHILE DRIVING CAUSING A MAJOR ABRUPT STOP JERKING THE CAR TO A STOP. THE TRANSMISSION FAULT ERROR CAME ON AND I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A MINUTE AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE. IT DID THIS ONE MORE TIME BEFORE REACHING HOME. THEN THE FOLLOWING DAY ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE IT AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN REVERSE IT JUMPED BACK INTO PARK. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AS I HAD READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR BMW'S WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I HAVE SINCE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF OTHER BMW SAME YEAR AND MODEL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER JUST SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER A RECALL AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE CARS AGE ISN'T WORTH THE VALUE OF REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION SO I HAVE THE CAR PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND CANNOT DRIVE IT. BMW NEEDS TO STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. THERE ARE PLENTY OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
I HAVE A 2007 750LI BMW WITH AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT PROBLEMS HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT.
CAR SCREEN PANEL DEAD. NO VISUABLE INFORMATION ON CAR PANEL TO DETERMINE SPEED, GAS LEVEL ETC. CAR PICKED UP FROM DEALERSHIP AFTER SERVICE AND TOLD OF WATER LEAK IN CAR. HAD BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND A LEAK OF WATER INTO CAR. HOWEVER, APPARENTLY, THEY DID NOT WANT TO REPAIR THE PANEL DUE TO THEIR NELIGENCE. THE CAR HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THEM WITH THIS ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES AS A POTENTIAL RECALL ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 750LI. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DRASTICALLY SLOWED DOWN AND THE "DRIVE MODERATELY, NOW IN SAFETY MODE" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE "AIRBAG MALFUNCTION" DASH LIGHT IS ON. THE BMW DEALER HAS DETERMINED THE MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO AN INTERNAL FAILURE TO THE DRIVERS SEAT OCCUPANCY DETECTOR. AN ACTIVE RECALL (17V-605 ?) INCLUDES 2004-2006 BMW 7 SERIES BUT EXCLUDES MY 2007 BMW 7. DEALER DECLINED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS UNDER THE ACTIVE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 750I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE OR REMAIN SECURED AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE DOOR HAD ERRONEOUSLY OPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER BMW NORTHWEST(4011 20TH STS. E. FIFE, WA) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
MY EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM HAS FAILED. HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL TO FIX PROBLEM ON MY 2007 BMW 750LI. MY VEHICLE IS PARKED IN GARAGE CANT DRIVE DO NOT HAVE AN EMERGENCY BRAKE TO PARK IT WITHOUT APPLYING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH ENGINE OFF AND SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTED. ***I HAVE VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE ENTIRE ORDEAL. ***** THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ROUGHLY 4 HOURS PRIOR TO FIRE STARTING UNDERNEATH THE HOOD FO NO APPARENT REASON. REACHED OUT TO BMW AND WAS TOLD DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE DAMAGE THEIR INVESTIGATORS COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OR ORIGIN OF THE FIR AT THE TIME OF THE INSPECTION. THE NATIONAL ENGINEERING GROUP OBSERVED THERMAL DAMAGE ISOLATED TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH GREATER CONSUMPTION TOWARDS THE FRONT. THIS OCCURRED DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN AND BMW IS DENYING RESPONSIBILITY AND HELP.
'TANAYA RECALL' MY VEHICLE HAS A BACKFIRE PROBLEM. WHEN IN MOTION THE VEHICLE IS JUMPING. WHEN I TURN VEHICLE OFF IT LEAKS OUT ALL OF THE ANTIFREEZE. WHEN ON HIGHWAY CAR RUNS GOOD AND DRIVING ON CITY STREETS IT'S JUMPING ALLOT.
