THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,859.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
THE THROTTLE BODY ON SEVERAL GM VEHICLES HAS FAILED. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, THEN THE ENGINE REDUCED POWER START LIGHT WENT ON, THEN THE CAR SPUTTERED, SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN QUICKLY AND YOU CANNOT GET POWER TO MOVE OVER 30. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES.
WHILE ON AN ON-RAMP TO AN INTERSTATE, MY WIFE WAS MERGING INTO FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. AS SHE ACCELERATED AND MERGED INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV AND THE VEHICLE TO LOSE SPEED. NOT ONLY WAS THE SURPRISE AND SHOCK OF THE EVENT TO INCLUDE THE VERY HIGH REVVING ALARMING, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION BY FAILING TO BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN PROPER LANE POSITION IN TRAFFIC. MY WIFE MANAGED TO COAST THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER WHERE SHE WAITED IN AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE POSITION FOR HELP. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE WHICH REQUIRED EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE MALFUNCTION AND THE EVENT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE (I.E. CROSSING TRAFFIC, TRAIN TRACKS, ETC...) AT LESS THAN 70,000 MILES, THERE SHOULDN'T BE SPONTANEOUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WHICH PROVED TO BE COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE KICKED OUT OF GEAR. ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. PULLED TO SHOULDER OF FREEWAY AND COASTED. ONCE THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IT ENGAGED BACK INTO GEAR. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BETWEEN 55 AND 60 AT ABOUT 3000 RPM BUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT TO HIGHER OR LOWER GEARS. TOOK FREEWAY EXIT AND CAME TO STOP. UPON TURNING ONTO ADJACENT ROAD THE VEHICLE ONLY USED 2 GEARS TO REACH A SPEED OF 55 MPH, SHIFTING FROM A LOW GEAR TO A HIGH GEAR AT 4000 RPM. *TR
