I am filing this safety complaint regarding a sudden and dangerous engine failure in a 2010 Buick Enclave CXL purchased from Frankfort Car Outlet on 8/25/2025. On 10/25/2025, while driving on the expressway, the engine suddenly began knocking, lost power, and stalled. This created a serious safety risk to myself and other drivers. The failure occurred only 60 days after purchase and approximately 2,000 miles later, suggesting a pre-existing internal defect that the dealership did not disclose. The dealership has refused to inspect the vehicle, acknowledge the safety risk, or assist in any way. This type of sudden engine failure could pose a serious hazard if similar vehicles have the same issue, and I believe NHTSA should be aware of the potential risk.
I purchased a 2010 Buick Enclave from a dealer who did not disclose any major issues with the vehicle. After purchase, I began experiencing significant problems while driving, including difficulty shifting, loss of power, and unstable handling. Concerned for my safety, I took the Buick to a mechanic for inspection. The mechanic verified that: •The wrong transmission had been installed in the vehicle, causing unsafe shifting and performance issues. •The driveshaft was malfunctioning, which affects the stability and control of the SUV. •No warning or check engine lights were on •CV axel bolts were zip tied closed Because of these defects, the mechanic told me the vehicle is not safe to drive. These problems were never disclosed to me at the time of sale, and I would not have purchased the vehicle had I known.
Bad timing chain at 141,000 miles
The engine and fuel pump system failed while driving the vehicle. It is available upon request to inspect. I just towed it to the shop today on 10/22/25 to get a full inspection. My sister and I were put at risk while driving towards a hill in San Francisco. It was on a busy main road when suddenly the vehicle began to jerk and thud back and forth. While I pushed the gas pedal, I began to question why the vehicle was suddenly reacting this way. In efforts to pull over to the side, a huge smoke fog began to come out of the exhaust pipe. As I tried to reach the curb the car didn’t want to move any further as I pushed on the gas. I put it in park and called the tow truck (receipts below) while there were cars passing me by almost causing an accident. I have looked online to see if there was a problem or recall with this vehicle having the same issue I was having. Come to find out there was a recall issued for certain vehicles only, with the same issue as my vehicle. The vehicle was taken into a local auto shop, where they diagnosed it and inspected it. The reports show it has the same exact issues with the car as those that were recalled. No there were not any warning signs nor failure signals. Due to this reason, I was completely caught off guard.
Car was running just fine had its oil changed new tires added and it just stopped running. Got it checked with a car technician and he stated it’s the engine.
When the driver seat is moved the service air bag light comes on. When you move the seat again the light goes off.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE LOCKS ON THE DOORS WILL SUDDENLY LOCK, UNLOCK, LOCK AND UNLOCK. AFTER THAT THE ENGINE SLOWS WAY DOWN LOSING POWER, THEN IT WILL BE OKAY TO GIVE IT MORE GAS AND IT SPEEDS UP. THE LAST COUPLE OF TIMES THIS HAPPENED, THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND STAHLED.
Timing belt chain
Purchased new, dealer twice during warranty kept vehicle for 6 weeks to do recall notice repairs. Now this 2010 has 42,000 miles and the steering is going bad. SB10056459-3388 describes the exact problem. During these two periods that recall repairs were done that should have addressed the problem even though the problem had not surfaced yet. This was a wear condition i was never informed of. It is getting worse now.

The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 144,000.

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed again that the timing chain had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the issue would be escalated. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Buick Enclave. The contact stated that the power steering failed at speeds of 15 mph or less. In addition, the failure occurred while making a turn. The contact stated the vehicle would have to use manual steering in order to operate the vehicle. There were no warning lights. The dealer was not informed of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
I have 2 of these booster seats and both of them the back is no longer locking into the base. It folds as the child is getting into the Seat. It doesn't stay in place even if the child has their car seatbelt on making it dangerous while riding in it as it may fold. I have not had it inspected. I am just wanting to know what you can do to help me. Also, thus won't let me put the correct Manufacturer date of 09/21/2019 in.
WHILE DRIVING IN SINGLE DIGIT TEMPS IN ICY ROAD CONDITIONS IN TRAFFIC USING THE BRAKES A LOT MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME IN AND I GOT A SERVICE YOUR TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AND ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED CAUSING ME TO NOT HAVE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS. TRACTION CONTROL WILL NOT COME BACK ON AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE SO BAD TRAFFIC WAS MOVING 5-10MPH ON HIGHWAY. THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER HAPPENED AS SOON AS I STARTED TURNING RIGHT ON ANOTHER ROAD DUE TO HOW SLICK THE HIGHWAY WAS.
THE THROTTLE - POSITION SENSOR IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND ENGINE STARTED ACTING UP WHILE DRIVING
JAN. 10 AT 8 AM MY DAUGHTER AND I LEFT SALT LAKE CITY TO DRIVE HOME TO LAS VEGAS. AT 8 AM, EVERYTHING WAS FINE, NO NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE NO CLANKING, NO SMELL. I COULD DO U TURNS AND SHARP TURNS TO PARK THE VEHICLE BEFORE STOPPING TO GET A BAGEL. WE ENTERED THE 15 SOUTH TO HEAD HOME, WE ARE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 70-80MPH. AT APPROXIMATELY 11:00AM WE ARE REACHING THE TOWN OF BEAVER, UTAH. I NEEDED TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY TO GAS UP AND WANTED AN ESPRESSO. WE EXIT THE FREEWAY AND AS I START SLOWING I CAN TELL MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT, I ALMOST HIT ON COMING TRAFFIC WHILE TURNING TO THE RIGHT WHEN COMING OFF THE EXIT BECAUSE IT WAS SO EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE OTHER DRIVER HAD TO SWERVE IN TO THE DIRT AREA TO AVOID HITTING MY DAUGHTER AND I, FOLLOWED US TO THE GAS STATION AND YELLED AT ME UNTIL HE REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY STEERING.. WE HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ST GEORGE UTAH TO RONS SHELL MECHANIC STATION. RON THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A BAD PUMP OR RACK (EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF IT GOING BAD). WE PAID OVER 2 GRAND TRYING TO GET IT FIXED AND THERE ARE INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING ISSUES, FINALLY RON GAVE UP AND SAID THATS THE BEST HE CAN DO. AFTER INVESTIGATING I SEE MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING POWER STEERING FAILURE WITH 2010 GMC BUICK ENCLAVES. GMC NEEDS TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. MY DAUGHTER AND I WERE ALMOST HIT HEAD ON! BECAUSE OF INSTANT POWER STEERING FAILURE WITH NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER!! THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ASAP!!

After starting the vehicle, the noise became louder. While operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated and a humming noise was present. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who indicated that the transmission gear was faulty. The vehicle was serviced however, the failure persisted. No further information was available. In addition, after refueling the vehicle would not immediately startup. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
2010 BUICK ENCLAVE WITH 116,164 MILES, JUST OVER 10,00 PER YEAR, ENGINE DEVELOPED A SPUN ROD BEARING AND QUIT WHILE DRIVING. STEERING LOST POWER AND ENGINE STOPPED. I HAD TO PUSH IT BACKWARDS TO GET OUT OF AN INTERSECTION. I HAD JUST STARTED A RIGHT TURN. 22 MONTH EARLIER THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED ON THE VEHICLE COSTING $2000 IN REPAIRS. OIL WAS CHANGED EVERY 5000 OR LESS MILES AND USED MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC OIL THE ENTIRE TIME. THIS AND OWNERS OF EARLIER MODEL YEARS REPORT THIS SAME PROBLEM FROM THIS VEHICLE. A WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE TWO PROBLEMS WHICH POINTS TO SOME FAILURE IN DESIGN OR MANUFACTURE. VEHICLE IS NOW JUNK.
ENGINE LIGHT IS COMING ON DUE TO ISSUE WITH TIMING CHAIN. MY MECHANIC SAID GM ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN AND GM OFFERED EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR MODEL YEAR 2009 BUT NOT 2010 (WHICH IS MY MODEL YEAR). IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND GM REFUSES TO COVER THE REPAIR OF THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT.
THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT, I WAS STARTING TO GO FROM SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND IT JUST SHUT ITSELF OFF! I'VE JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR AND ALREADY IT'S A HUNK OF JUNK. ALSO THE AMOUNT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS CAUSED BY WATER ENTERING THE MOTOR COMPARTMENT IS RIDICULOUS AND SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT'S JUST A BAD DESIGN. THE AC FAN MOTOR LOCATED ABOVE THE PASSENGER FLOOR FILLS WITH WATER AND RUINS THE MOTOR. THE CAR SHUT OFF TODAY BECAUSE OF SHODDY SOLDERING.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN, STEERING GETS HARD TO TURN
WHILE DECELERATING THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY GOES OUT. I'M HAVING THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT FOR A SECOND TIME. I HAVE RECENTLY DONE THE RESEARCH AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN 2010 BUICK ENCLAVES AND GMC HAS YET TO MAKE A RECALL. THIS COULD DEFINITELY BE VERY DANGEROUS IF DECELERATING AND MAKING TURNS ON HIGHWAY AND POWER STEERING JUST GOES OUT. HOPEFULLY NO ONE HAS TO DIE FOR GMC TO ADMIT FAULTY STEERING. *TR
The timing chain broke and my transmission needs to be replaced.
I AM WRITING BECAUSE WE PURCHASED A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE IN 2018. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING I NOTICED ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AND IT HAD TO BE SERVICED TWICE WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS OF HAVING IT. AT THE TIME THE SERVICE DEPT. COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND BLAMED IT ON MY ACCIDENTALLY TOUCHING THE MANUAL SHIFT ON THE SHAFT. I KNEW I WAS NOT DOING THIS. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE CAR DOING THIS WEIRD ACCELERATION AND ALL DURING THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS BUT [XXX] KEPT SAYING THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. WELL, I WAS STRANDED BECAUSE IT JUST STOPPED A FEW DAYS AGO AND HAD TO TAKE A 50.00 UBER HOME. I HAVE HAD TO UBER 3 TIMES NOW AND PURCHASED A CODE READER. THE CODE COMES BACK AS A TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED. IT SEEMS WHAT I WAS FEELING FROM THE VERY BEGINNING WAS IN FACT THIS ISSUE. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS. I HAVE HAD TO RENT VEHICLES FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS AND WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO MY HOME TOMORROW. SINCE THIS ISSUE WAS BROUGHT TO YOUR ATTENTION FROM DAY ONE I EXPECT IT TO BE REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME AND SOME OF THE CHARGES I HAVE ACCUMULATED BE REIMBURSED. THIS IS NOT JUST! THE 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE HAS BEEN WELL KEPT. I HAD JUST PURCHASED IT AND ONLY DROVE IT FOR 2 MONTHS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70MILES PER HOUR THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST POWER DOWN TO 40MILES I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY. ALMOST HIT. THE HOLE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN IT WOULDN'T START AT ALL HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THE TIMING CHAIN JUMMPED AND LOCKED UP YOUR MOTOR IT WILL BE 10 THOUSAND TO FIX I DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY SO NOW I M PAYING A LOAN ON A CAR THAT DOES NOT WORK.
TWICE WITHIN THE PAST MONTH WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL MY VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY STARTED ACCELERATING UNCONTROLLABLY. DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL OR STOP THE CAR FROM TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IN BOTH CASES I HAD THE WHEREWITHAL NOT TO PANIC, CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER, PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND THROTTLE UP TO 4000 RPMS WHILE STILL IN PARK. FORTUNATELY, BOTH INSTANCES OCCURRED ON STRAIGHT STRETCHES OF INTERSTATE DURING LESS THAN CROWDED HOURS. I SHUTTER TO THINK IF THIS OCCURRED WHILE MY KIDS WERE DRIVING. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT IN HOPES THAT IF THERE ARE OTHER CASES OF THIS HAPPENING WE CAN MAKE SURE GM CAN FIX THIS BEFORE ANYONE GETS KILLED. I KNOW OTHER AUTOMAKERS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WERE ABLE TO CORRECT IT THROUGH RECALL. I CONTACTED GM/BUICK WITH MY CONCERNS AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS INDEED A SAFETY CONCERN BUT SINCE MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BUT ADVISE ME TO TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIR AT MY OWN EXPENSE. I HAVE A VIDEO I TOOK AFTER THE SECOND OCCURRENCE ONCE I WAS ABLE TO PULL MY VEHICLE OVER AND TRY TO RESTART IT. I AM NOT ABLE TO UPLOAD IT THROUGH THIS FORM BUT I CAN SEND IT UPON REQUEST. *TR
POWER STEERING IS LEAKING FLUIDS. HEARING A SLIGHT HOWLING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
The power steering has issues when turning it seems to not work. Been have this problem for about a year. I’ve talked to other Buick owners and they have the same problem. I also have electrical issues on the drivers side door panel, where none of the switches work. Just all of a sudden quit.
I RECENTLY JUST PURCHASED MY VEHICLE WITH 145,000 MILES WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS DURING TURNS. IT BECOMES VERY HARD AND DANGEROUS TO TURN. I HAVE TO TURN VERY SLOW WHICH IS DANGEROUS CAN COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED HOPEFULLY WE CAN FIND A WAY TO FIX THIS.
/ I AM DRIVING MY BUICK ENCLAVE AND THE MOMENT I MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL A NOISE LIKE A VERY LOUD HUM STARTS, I EITHER WHEN PARKING IT IS VERY EMBARRASSING FOR ME BECAUSE EVERYONE IS AROUND ME THEY TURN AND CRITICIZE ME BECAUSE I AM NOT GOING TO THE MECHANIC TO REPAIR MY ENCLAVE AND ANOTHER PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THE BACK DOOR IF IT OPENS WITH THE CONTROL BUT WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE IT IF IT GOES DOWN TO CLOSE BUT BECOMES OPEN AGAIN IT IS AS IF THERE WAS AN OBSTACLE THAT DOES NOT LET IT CLOSE COMPLETELY
2010 BUICK ENCLAVE WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50MPH, ENGINE STUTTERED, LOST POWER, AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER AND ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. TOWED TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND FOUND THE ENGINE HAD BLOWN, GEARS BLEW APART, TIMING CHAIN SHOT. FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT COSTING ALMOST $7,000. MILEAGE WAS 178,222. ADDITIONAL ISSUES TO INCLUDE REAR SUSPENSION PARTS, BRAKES, ROTORS, WHEEL BEARINGS (TWICE) DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS. REAR LATERAL LINKS BOTH UPPER AND LOWER (TWICE DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS). CAR STILL DOES NOT RIDE PROPERLY AFTER SECOND REPLACEMENT OF PARTS AND 4 ALL WHEEL ALIGNMENTS. CAR SWAYS TERRIBLY AND ROCKS ESPECIALLY DURING HIGHER WINDS. VERY HARD TO KEEP ON THE ROAD AND DANGEROUS. *TR
TIMING CHAIN FAILED IN AUGUST 2017 AT 87K MILES. OVER $4,000. FAILED AGAIN IN JANUARY OF 2020 AT 120K MILES. DEALER ONLY CHARGING $400-500 DUE TO MY INSISTENCE AND MY DESIRE TO GIVE THEM A POOR REVIEW IF THEY DID NOT HONOR THE REPAIR.
11 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT MY BUICK THE ENGINE WENT OUT THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME THE REPLACEMENT USED ALL MY WARRANTY. AND THERE HAS BEEN ONE AFTER ANOTHER PROBLEM. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS DURING TURNS ALMOST HAD SOME REAL SERIOUS FINDER BENDERS. IT'S THROWING P420 CODE FOR BANK 2 AND NOW HAVE NO SOUND AT ALL EVERYTHING WORKS BUT NO BLINKERS, HAZARD, SEATBELT, BACKUP WARNING SOUNDS AT ALL WITH NO RADIO .
WELL WHAT HAPPENED WAS THE VEHICLE DEAD STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THIS MAY NOT SEEM UNUSUAL, BUT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPORTED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, P0008 WHICH IS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE COMMON WITH THE 3.6L VVT ENGINE THAT IS SHARED ACROSS ALL MODELS. MY WIFE AND CHILD WERE IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND WERE ABOUT TO BE HIT BY ON COMING TRAFFIC. LUCKILY, THE VEHICLE COMING TOWARD THEM WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. THE VEHICLE BLOCKED TRAFFIC FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THE DESCRIBED PROBLEM IS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN, BUT MY RESEARCH HAS ELUDED THAT GM HAS HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE MODELS OVER MULTITUDES OF MODEL YEAR VEHICLES. THIS ISSUE OFTEN LEADS TO A HEFTY REPAIR BILL UPWARDS OF $3500 OR EVEN MORE. IN MY OPINION WITH MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS VEHICLE OR MODELS THAT SHARE THE SAME ENGINE, THE PROBLEM CAN LEAD TO POSSIBLE SAFETY CONCERNS FOR A DEAD STOP WHILE DRIVING. A VEHICLE COULD POSSIBLY BE ON ICY, WET, ROAD CONDITIONS AND COULD CAUSE A GREAT DEAL OF MORE INJURIES. I BELIEVE THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FOR MODEL YEARS FROM 2008 - 2020. THE ENGINE HAS NOT CHANGED. THIS ENGINE IS NOT ONLY SHARED WITH THE BUICK ENCLAVE, BUT THE CHEVY TRAVERSE, GMC ACADIA, BUICK LACROSSE, AND THE LIST GOES ON. DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN FAILURE, MY FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE DESIGN ISSUE. I'M GLAD THAT MY FAMILY IS OK. GM KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE. IN 2011 GM RELEASED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 10287 WHICH DIDN'T WORK THEN IN 2012 GM RELEASED A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT (#11340C) EVEN WHEN PROPER OIL CHANGES ARE DONE. PLEASE LOOK INTO

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTED SPECIAL COVERAGE REPAIR NUMBER: 15536 FOR THE AIR BAGS HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,150.
NUMEROUS TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEED MERGING ON AND OFF RAMPS INTO TRAFFIC THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT CAUSING ME TO APPLY MORE UPPER ARM STRENGTH TO MERGE AND THEN THE POWER STEERING COMES BACK ON CAUSING ME TO JERK THE VEHICLE INTO TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HIT VEHICLES IN FARTHEST LANE.
VEHICLE LOSSES POWER, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CODES P0008, P0017, P0009- TOOK IT TO SHOP AND THEY SAID THE OIL WAS 3 QTS LOW. I JUST HAD IT CHANGED WITHIN 60 DAYS. THEY CHANGED THE OILS AND CLEARED THE CODES WHICH WERE SHOWING. I ALSO HAD TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGES AND A NEW FRONT LEFT TRANSAXLE INSTALLED. WIFE DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME, WHICH IS WITHIN 3 MILES OF SHOP. ENGINE CAME BACK ON WITH THE SAME THREE CODES GIVEN ABOVE. CALEED BACK TO SHOP NEXT DAY, THEY SAID ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE PULLED AND THE CHART SAID ABOUT A 21 HOURS JOB (THEY CHARGE $68/HR). AND SAID IT WOULD BE ABOUT $2500 TO FIX. I SEE MANY POSTS ONLINE WITH THIS VEHICLE CONCERNING THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON THE TIMING CHAINS/BELTS IN THESE CARS AND LIKE MODELS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5585597823. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,753.

THE DEALER QUOTED A REPAIR COST OF $2,000 AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL BACK WITH THE FINAL ESTIMATE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,800.
WATER IS GETTING TO THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE AMPLIFIERS (BOSE SYSTEM) AND SHORTING THEM OUT. THAT MEANS THERE IS NO SOUND WHAT SO EVER INSIDE THE VEHICLE. NO BLINKERS, HAZARDS, RADIO OR IF THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON YOU WON'T HEAR IT, ONLY A VISIBLE ICON. THIS IS AN ISSUE NOT ONLY IN THE ENCLAVE, BUT THE ACADIA AS WELL AS THE SATURN OUTLOOK. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL A LONG TIME AGO. I REFUSE TO PAY FOR THIS WHEN IT'S AN ISSUE ACROSS THE BOARD.

WHO DIAGNOSED THAT AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE TO THE AUDIO AMPLIFIER HAD OCCURRED DUE TO THE WATER LEAKING INTO THE PANELS OF THE VEHICLE AND BEHIND THE FIRE WALL. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 168,000.
THE AIR CONDITIONER HOSE WAS MELTED WHERE IT TOUCHES ANOTHER HOSE, THERE WAS AN ACADIA AND A TRAVERSE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED BUICK TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, I WAS TOLD ONLY YUKON HAD THE RECALL. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS, THEY ARE BASICALLY THE SAME. THEY KNOW THESE HOSES RUN TOO HOT NOT TO BE SEPARATED OR AT LEAST INSULATED. THE PART COSTS AN INSANE $861 DOLLARS. ALL OF THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED OR CORRECTED.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHEN IT SUDDENLY STALLED AND WOULD NOT START, I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED IT NEEDED AN ENGINE, THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2008, 2009, 2010 BUICK ENCLAVES, BECAUSE OF THE OIL PUMP DRAINING THE ENGINE OF OIL IT SEIZED THE ENGINE. I CALLED GM AND ASKED WHY THEY HAVEN'T RECALLED THE 2010 ALONG WITH 2008, AND 2009 MODELS WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND ISSUE. THEY SAID ITS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BUT THERE IS NO FUTURE DATE IF OR WHEN THE 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE WOULD BE RECALLED FOR THE ENGINE- OIL FAILURE! THIS COST OVER $4800 DOLLARS TO GET FIXED, I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP LESS THAN A YEAR PRIOR, VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH DEALER FOR NOT MAKING ME AWARE TO CHECK OIL EVERY FEW DAYS SO THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN. I ALSO JUST HAD THE OIL CHANGE DONE A MONTH BEFORE THE ENGINE SEIZED!
The engine was built with the same components as the 2008/2009 models and they have been recalled, the oil drains out of the engine rapidly and causes engine to seize and had to be replaced.
TODAY I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, AS I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY OF WORK TICKING NOISE STARTED AND THEN CAR DIED RIGHT ON A HILL BLOCKING TRAVEL, IT WOULD NOT RESTART, SO I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO ADVISED ENGINE BLOWN DO TO TIMING BELT WEAR...ALL MY OIL WAS SUCKED INTO ENGINE (JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE 2 MTHS AGO) AND BLEW THE MOTOR! THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE, MODEL OF BUICK, WHY IS NO ONE DOING ANYTHING ABOUT A RECALL! I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW ENGINE, NOR A NEW CAR, I JUST PURCHASED THIS USED AT HURD BUICK IN RHODE ISLAND 5/2017 EXPLAINED NEEDED DEPENDABLE CAR, I'M A SINGLE PARENT WORKING FULL TIME AND THEY GAVE ME A LEMON KNOWING FULL WELL THE ENGINE PROBLEMS WITH THIS MIDEL! NHTSA NEEDS TO MAKE GM ACCOUNTABLE TO THE CONSUMER OF 2010 MODELS LIKE THEY DID WITH THE 2008-2009 MODELS THIS IS SO UNFAIR. POWER STEERING FAILED WHEN DRIVING ON A STREET WHILE TURNING. TOOK IT TO A NON BUICK MECHANIC FOR EVALUATION. HE STATED TO TAKE IT TO A BUICK DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A 'SPECIAL CONSIDERATION ' PROVISION TO REPAIR. WE NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ON THIS. WE TOOK IT TO A BUICK DEALERSHIP WHO STATED IT NEEDED REPLACED. THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PUMP ONLY AND WE NEEDED TO PAY $2200.00 FOR A STEERING GEAR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO CHARGE THE CONSUMER ANYTHING TO FIX THIS OBVIOUS SYSTEM DEFECT. WE BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP NEEDS TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. BUT THEY WON'T SINCE IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED.
WHEN DRIVING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON THEN I GET A SIGNAL THAT MY ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THE SPEED DROPS DRASTICALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. INDICATORS SAY SYSTEM STABILIZATION.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ORIGINALLY READ THE CODES AS CYLINDER MISFIRE 1,3,5. TIMING CHAIN INSIDE THE ENGINE IS STRETCHED AND MEANS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR AT 145K MILES. VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE.
THE INITIAL COMPLAINT WAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A REPAIR WAS MADE THAT DIDNT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHILE DRIVING AND IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 47,000 MILES ON IT.
