MY 2010 BUICK BLEW A PUFF OF WHITE SMOKE AND THEN LOST POWER ON A BUSY STREET WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE CAR. LUCKILY MY WIFE MANAGED TO GET IT PULLED OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING HIT BY OTHER CARS. A GM MECHANIC REPLACED ONE INJECTOR AT $510.00 AND SAID WE WERE GOOD TO GO. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 2 DAYS LATER AND THAT CODE SHOWED THE TIMING CHAIN. NOW, THE BUICK DEALERSHIP WANTS $3000.00 TO PUT A NEW TIMING CHAIN IN IT. $3000.00 IS ONLY IF THERE IS NOTHING ELSE WRONG!!! WHY IS THIS PROBLEM NOT A MANUFACTURE RECALL?!
CAR HAD 79820 A BEGINNING OF TRIP FROM INDIANA TO FLORIDA. LOST POWER STEERING WITH UNDER 80K ON CAR AT BEGINNING OF TRIP. NO LOW SPEED POWER STEERING AT ALL, CAT CANNOT BE STEERED AT PARKING LOT SPEEDS.
IN 2017@75,477 MILES MY CAR LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY, COULD NOT GET IT TO GO OVER 40MPH. DROVE TO DEALER & TURNED OUT TO BE TIMING CHAIN WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN MY TYPE OF CAR. DEALER REPAIRED CAR AT WARRANTY PRICE, EVEN THOUGH MY WARRANTY HAD RUN OUT & TOOK 40% OFF SINCE I HAD BEEN SUCH A GREAT CUSTOMER. THEY HAD SOME KIND OF INCENTIVE MONEY AVAILABLE.FAST FORWARD TO APRIL 2019 @ 95,000 MIKES, CAR IS LOSING POWER AGAIN ON HIGHWAY ESPECIALLY WHEN MERGING, MUST FLOOR GAS PEDAL TO GET CAR TO GO, ENGINE LIGHT ON INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST, BUT NOW ON PERMANENTLY, TIMING CHAIN CODE (P0008) COMES UP & DEALER SAYS IT WILL BE AN ESTIMATED COST OF $2500 TO REPAIR, MUST PULL ENGINE AGAIN. TIMING CHAIN REPAIR FROM 2017 ONLY UNDER WARRANTY FOR 1 YEAR OR 12,000. I WENT 2 YEARS & 20,000 SINCE REPAIR. DEALER ONLY WILLING TO DISCOUNT REPAIR NEEDED NOW @ 25%. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY CAR ESPECIALLY THE 2008, 2009 & 2010 MODELS. THERE ARE TONS OF ON-LINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT TIMING CHAINS IN MY TYPE CAR & THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOME TYPE OF RECALL ON THE TIMING CHAINS/BELTS IN THESE CARS. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. NOT SAFE WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY & PROBLEM CAN OCCUR AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING.YOU LOSE POWER & CAN GET STUCK IN MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. UNSAFE!
GETS THE ABOUT TIMING CHAIN. A LOT OF PEOPLE TALKS ABOUT HOW TIMING CHAIN GOES OUT. . THINK IF GM HAD A LOT OF CALLS ABOUT THIS ENGINE THEY NEED TO FIX. IF I KNEW THIS I WOULD HAVE NOT BUY IT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WHEN MAKING TURNS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,731.
CAR HAD REDUCED SPEED AND WHITE SMOKE 11/15 41,000 MILES TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED NUMBER 5 INJECTOR CAR. 2/4/17 CAR HAS 49,584 MILES AND HAD TO HE TOWED AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP SAME ISSUE REDUCED SPEED WHITE SMOKE, WAS TOLD ALL 6 INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED, WATER PUMP, TIMING COVER, STEERING GEAR AND TIMING BELT. THIS CAR HAS TOO MANY ISSUES TO HAVE SUCH FEW MILES. I DID CALL SEVERAL OTHER GARAGES TO SEE IF THEY COULD GIVE ESTIMATE AS I DON'T TRUST DEALERSHIP, THEY WILL NOT WORK ON THE ENCLAVE MOTORS. THERE ARE ALSO TOO MANY RECALLS IN MY OPINION ON THIS VEHICLE. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING ON THIS VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND THE TRACTION AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHERE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS PERFORMED. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,737.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 71000 MILES. AFTER TWO SEPARATE DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS AT TWO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, BOTH MATCHED WITH DIAGNOSIS OF ISSUE WITH A BAD TIMING CHAIN. VEHICLE IS TAGGED AS 2010 EVEN THOUGH LABEL INSIDE CAR SHOWS AS BEING ACTUALLY HAVING BEEN MANUFACTURED IN 09/2009. DISCUSSIONS WITH DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND BUICK THEMSELVES LED TO NO ACTION IN TERMS OF WARRANTY/RECALL/SPECIAL CONDITIONS COVERAGE - EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THE ENCLAVES PRODUCED BETWEEN 2007-2009. INITIAL ESTIMATES FOR THE WORK, INCLUDING LABOR EXCEEDING $3000. NHTSA 10052863 SHOWS THAT 2008-2012 BUICK ENCLAVES AND THE AVAILABILITY OF 3 SERVICE KITS FOR HIGH FEATURE V6 ENGINE APPLICATIONS. FURTHER, IT SHOWS THAT THESE KITS SHOULD BE USED ON VEHICLES COVERED UNDER THE TERMS OF THE ANY WARRANTY OR SPECIAL COVERAGE TERMS. YET FOR SOME REASON, THE 2010 HASN'T BEEN ASSIGNED 'SPECIAL COVERAGE' TERMS. *TR
VEHICLE HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, HAD IT CHECKED AND IT IS A STRETCHED OUT TIMING CHAIN. VERY SCARY TO DRIVE. VEHICLE IS MANUFACTURED IN 07/09 ACCORDING TO THE MANF. STICKER ON THE DOOR. REPAIRS ARE VERY COSTLY AND THERE IS AN EXTENDED POWER TRAIN WARRANTY ON THE 2009"S.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE EQUIPPED WITH FIRESTONE DESTINATION LE2 TIRES (NA), SIZE: P255/60/R19 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, THE NOISE INCREASED AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE COMPLETELY SPLIT APART WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PURCHASED TWO NEW TIRES FOR THE REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE IN AUGUST OF 2016. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WITH THE SPARE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. *TR
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON LAST WEEK. I TOOK MY 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE (82,400 MILES) TO THE LOCAL DEALER FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE CAR CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED ABOUT 20 MONTHS AGO. THEY TELL ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN IS WORN AND MUST BE REPLACED - AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD NOT BE NEEDED ON A CAR WITH 82,000 MILES. SINCE THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY ONLY COVERED IT TO 5-YRS/100K MILES, IT WAS NO LONGER IN EFFECT AND SO THEY WOULDN'T COVER THE COST TO FIX THE CAR.
THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A P0008 (TIMING CHAIN) CODE WAS DIAGNOSED. AFTER READING NUMEROUS CASES ONLINE ABOUT CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE, THE CAR WAS PARKED AND I BEGAN DEALING WITH BUICK CUSTOMER SERVICE (CRC) AND LATER WITH THE EXECUTIVE REFERRAL GROUP. THE BUICK BRAND QUALITY MANAGER SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS "FIXED" FOR THE 2010 MODEL YEAR AND THAT'S WHY THE GM SPECIAL POLICY #11340C WAS LIMITED TO 2007-2009 MODEL YEARS.THEY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE IN FIXING THE ENGINE. HOWEVER, THE GM BULLETIN SB-10052863-6133 SPECIFIES 2007-2012 MODEL YEARS. THE TECHNICIAN THAT PERFORMED THE REPAIRS (AT MY EXPENSE) SAID THAT THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL TO THE 2007-2009 VEHICLES. THEY EVEN HAD PARTS ON HAND- WHICH SHOWS THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM. AS OF THIS WRITING, THERE ARE 65 OTHER COMPLAINTS IN THIS DATABASE OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE ENCLAVE AND IT'S SIBLINGS. THE NHTSA ID 10052863 LISTS 75 ASSOCIATED PRODUCTS. CLEARLY, THERE ARE MANY MORE 2010 FAILURES IF EVERY PRODUCT IS EVALUATED. THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT THAT SHOULD HAVE A CAMPAIGN ISSUED. LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND THE RESULTING LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST IS CLEARLY A DANGER TO THE PASSENGERS AND ALL SURROUNDING PEOPLE AND PROPERTY. PREVIOUS CAMPAIGNS, SUCH AS THE GM IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE, SHOW THAT LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST DUE TO LOSS OF ENGINE POWER IS A SAFETY ISSUE. A SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT DOES NOT CONVEY THE POTENTIAL GRAVITY OF THE SITUATION.
POWER STEERING LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING. CLUNKING NOISE FROM FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. UNSTABLE STEERING AND HANDLING WHILE DRIVING ESPECIALLY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40MPH. LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL LEAKING INTO AND COLLECTING IN THROTTLE BODY AND AIR INTAKE. AFTER TWO TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENTS VEHICLE HAS ROUGH IDLE, STALLS INTERMITTENTLY.
MILEAGE 85,717: DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH VEHICLE LOST POWER, WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO PULL OFF AND RESTART TO MAKE IT HOME. NEXT MORNING VEHICLE WOULD START, BUT IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF. TOWED VEHICLE TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED IT WAS STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN, COMMON OCCURRENCE IN ENCLAVE, ACADIA, AND TRANSVERSE. REPORTED ISSUE TO GM WHO REFERRED ME TO CERTIFIED GM DEALER, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THAT LOCATION AT MY EXPENSE, SAT THERE FOR A WEEK BEFORE I RECEIVED ANY INFO WHICH WAS STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN, ALREADY KNOWN INFORMATION. I CALLED GM BACK WHO STATED THEY MY CASE HAD ALREADY BEEN CLOSED OUT FOR POWER LIFT GATES AND THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION FOR THE STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN, AFTER 1 HOUR AND 25 MINUTES ON THE PHONE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO ASSISTANCE FOR THE TIMING CHAIN THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $2000 REPAIR BILL ALONG WITH $105 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. AT THIS POINT BEYOND FRUSTRATED WITH VEHICLE AND GM, THE ACADIA AND TRANSVERSE HAVE HAD THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXTENDED WHY HAS THIS NOT HAPPENED FOR THE ENCLAVE? *TR
WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNALS OUR TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED AND SLIPPED ON OUR 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. IT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED WHILE IN MOTION, STOPPING THE VEHICLE FROM MOVEMENT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS LUCKILY ON A COUNTRY DIRT ROAD WITHOUT MUCH TRAFFIC, OTHERWISE THIS COULD HAVE GONE VERY BAD ON THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE. THE 2007- 2009 BUICK ENCLAVE HAS THIS SAME KNOW ISSUE WITH A RECALL, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OUR MECHANIC THE PARTS USED IN THE 2010'S ARE THE SAME. IT IS IRRITATING THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL WITH THE 2010 AND LATER, I'VE SEEN SEVERAL REPORTS OF THE 2010 HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY CAR BACK FROM THE REPAIR SHOP, BUT CAN PROVIDE A INVOICE ONCE ONE IS AVAILABLE TO ME. *TR
WATER IS LEAKING FROM FRONT WINDSHIELD ON BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR AND IS AFFECTING ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS ONSTAR, ENGINE LIGHT, ETC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE MOTOR FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
OUR TIMING BELT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT ABOUT 106,000 MILES. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN EXTENDING SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE 2009 MODEL YEAR. TO MY UNDERSTANDING, THERE WERE NO CHANGES MADE TO THE DESIGN FOR 2010, BUT COVERAGE IS NOT EXTENDED FOR 2010 MODEL YEARS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR COULD STOP RUNNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IF THE TIMING CHAIN BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. THERE SEEMS TO BE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON LINE. I CALLED BUICK/GM FOR ASSISTANCE, BUT THAT WAS NOT SATISFACTORY.
POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT. WILL WORK WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED BUT ONCE IT WARMS UP, POWER STEERING FAILS. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW WEEKS, LOCAL MECHANIC SAYS THERE IS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT BUT I THE ONLY WAY I KNOW ABOUT IT IS THEY FOUND THE INFORMATION.
WHEN ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO HIGHWAYS, WHEN ACCELERATING TO OVERTAKE VEHICLES AND WHEN DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO CLIMB STEEPER HILLS THE CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE AS ONLY OCCURRED OCCASIONALLY. HOWEVER, ON AT LEAST 2 OCCASIONS THERE WERE NEAR CRASHES OF VEHICLES INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ONE TIME WHILE MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE WOULD NOT INCREASE SPEED AND STAYED AT 45MPH. A TRANSPORT TRUCK IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE CLOSED DISTANCE AND HAD TO BRAKE AS THEY COULD NOT MOVE TO THE CENTRE LANE AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET TO SHOULDER AS I STILL THOUGHT THE ENGINE WOULD RESPOND. I EASED OFF THE GAS AND THEN ACCELERATED AGAIN WHICH THEN KICKED IN THE ENGINE. ANOTHER TIME A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS CLIMBING A STEEPER GRADE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND AND KEEP SPEED AND STARTED TO LOSE SPEED AND I MOVED TO THE RIGHT HAND LANE. I COULD NOT GO TO THE SHOULDER AS THERE WAS A GUARD RAIL ALONG AN ESCARPMENT. AGAIN, A TRANSPORT TRUCK CAME UP RIGHT BEHIND ME ANTICIPATING I WOULD BE KEEPING SPEED. OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS THIS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AND I A COUPLE TIMES A WEEK AND HAD TAKEN THIS INTO A GARAGE TO BE CHECKED OUT. AT THAT TIME THERE WERE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON OR CODES AND THE GARAGE FOUND NOTHING. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND WE TOOK IT TO THE GARAGE WHERE THEY ADVISED US TO TAKE TO A DEALER AS IT WAS A TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. UPON DIAGNOSIS THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND WHAT I FOUND AND WHAT REALLY BOTHERS ME IS THAT GM WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND ACTUALLY ISSUED A TSB FOR 2009 MODELS. MY CAR WAS BUILT IN MODEL SWITCH OVER TIME AS A 2010 MODEL IN AUGUST 2009 BUT WITH THE SAME PARTS AND TIMING CHAIN. THE COMPANY OBVIOUSLY KNEW THAT THE VEHICLES COULD HAVE ISSUES AND FAILED TO NOTIFY.
WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL AT SLOW SPEEDS IT RANDOMLY LOCKS UP. ALMOST GOT HIT MAKING A U TURN IN WASHINGTON DC. I WAS GOING LESS THAT 10 MPH. THIS IS HAPPENING REGULARLY WHILE PARKING AND TURNING AFTER STOPING. IT HAS ALREADY ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. WITHOUT WARNING, THE ABILITY TO STEER THE CAR BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY IN TURNS IN INTERSECTIONS. TURNING THE VEHICLE BACK STRAIGHT OUT OF A SWEEPING 90 DEGREE TURN IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL A 5 TO 8 SECOND PAUSE ELAPSES. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, USUALLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BRAKE HEAVILY IN AN INTERSECTION FOR WHAT LOOKS LIKE NO APPARENT REASON. THIS IS DANGEROUS NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF DRIVER CONTROL, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. THIS IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT AND IT CAN BE PURPOSEFULLY REPRODUCED IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED RAPIDLY WHILE AT A LOW SPEED. ALSO NOTICEABLE IS A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN JUST BELOW THE STEERING WHEEL AT TIMES, HEARD MOSTLY AT LOW SPEED IN A QUIET ENVIRONMENT. IT IS A TINY SOMEWHAT VIBRATIONAL SOUND SIMILAR TO RUNNING YOUR FINGER ACROSS THE TEETH OF A VERY FINE TOOTHED HAIR COMB. WHILE THIS NOISE IS NOTICEABLE AND IT CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL, IT IS NOT AN INDICATION THAT THE STEERING IS PREPARING TO FAIL AT THAT TIME. THE NOISE COMES AND GOES... IT FEELS ALMOST ELECTRICAL IN NATURE. THE POWER STEERING PUMP RESERVOIR HAS BEEN CHECKED AND IS FULL. THE SERPENTINE BELT DRIVING THE PUMP IS IN GOOD CONDITION AND HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO NOT BE SLIPPING. THE RACK AND PINION IS MOUNTED SECURELY AND IS NOT LEAKING EXTERNALLY.

THIS SEEMS TO OCCUR AT SLOWER SPEEDS, SUCH AS WHEN TURNING ACROSS AN INTERSECTION OR MANEUVERING IN A PARKING LOT. IT OCCURS ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS. THERE IS ALSO A GRINDING SOUND THAT OCCURS AT THESE TIMES OF POWER STEERING FAILURE. CLEARLY, THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. ONE OF OUR TOP REASONS FOR PURCHASING FROM BUICK WAS THEIR EMPHASIS ON SAFETY FOR THE FAMILY (WE HAVE 3 CHILDREN). AND LASTLY, 50% OF THE TIME WHEN I TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND PULL THE KEY OUT OF THE CAR, THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN. THE OCCURRED AROUND 80-85,000 MILES.
REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS LOOSE WHILE TAKING MY CARE FOR LUBE & OIL FILTER CHANGE AT HOLZHAUER MOTORS IN CHEROKEE, IA (AUTHORIZED DEALER) I MENTIONED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT MY VEHICLE ROAD LIKE AN "OLD DODGE PICKUP." AFTER DOING THE LUBE & OIL FILTER CHANGE I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE ADVISOR CONTACTED ME STATING THAT THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS WERE LOOSE AND NEEDED REPLACING. AN ESTIMATE OF $850.00 PLUS TAX WAS GIVEN. THE REPLACEMENT WAS MADE ON NOVEMBER 18, 2015 AND THE VEHICLE STILL RIDES LIKE A TANK.

WHILE IT WAS IN FOR SERVICE THEY DID CORRECT RECALL 14187 FRONT SAFETY BELT ANCHOR HOWEVER THEY CHARGED ME FOR REPLACING THE REAR LIFT-GATE STRUTS WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY RECALL 15240. REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST ATTACHED. WHILE RESEARCHING RECALLS I CAME ACROSS 10287 - CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM ADDRESSING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIMING CHAIN IN SEVERAL GM VEHICLES. THIS TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY COSTLY REPAIR BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE DONE BY THE CHAIN WHIPPING AROUND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF A RECALL HAD BEEN IN PLACE. THE EDGES OF THE GLASS SURROUNDING THE HOLE WERE TILTED UPWARD AS THOUGH SOMETHING CAME OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE REMAINING GLASS WAS IN SMALL PIECES PUT STILL INTACT IN THE ORIGINAL SHAPE. THE THIN SHADE THAT WAS ON THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WAS CLOSED AT THE TIME WHICH CONTAINED MOST OF THE GLASS THAT FELL THROUGH. NO OTHER FOREIGN MATERIAL WAS FOUND IN THE SHADE WHILE I WAS CLEANING UP OF THE BROKEN GLASS. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND DESCRIBED IT AS BEING A LOUD BANG BEHIND HIM. MY YOUNG KIDS (AGES 6 AND 7) SIT BELOW THIS SKY ROOF AND THANKFULLY WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAPPENED, BUT THEY COULD OF BEEN PELTED WITH GLASS AND THE LOUD BANG COULD OF STARTLED ME IF I WAS DRIVING AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE ONLY PLACE I COULD GET THE VEHICLE REPAIRED WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHICH SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED THE COST TO REPAIR IT AND IT TOOK OVER 5 DAYS TO GET THE PIECE OF GLASS AND THEN ANOTHER DAY TO REPAIR IT. REFERENCE COMPLAINT NUMBER: 10876974 HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER MOTOR SHORTLY AFTER REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP & RACK AND PINION ON JUNE 17, 2015, MY AIR CONDITIONER BEGAN TO DRAIN IN MY CAR. I STOPPED AT HOLZHAUER MOTORS IN CHEROKEE, IOWA (AUTHORIZED DEALER) WHERE I HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP & RACK AND PINION REPLACED AND STATED THAT MY AIR CONDITIONER WAS DRAINING IN MY CAR. THE SERVICE ADVISOR PULLED THE CAR IN THE SHOP AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A KINK IN THE HOSE AND THIS KINK HAD HAPPENED WHEN THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP & THE RACK AND PINION. ON THAT VISIT THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT IT HAD BEEN FIXED. ON JANUARY 11, 2016 I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A SCHEDULED LUBE OIL & FILTER CHANGE. I STATED TO THE SERVICE ADVISER THAT I WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE FAN NOT WANTING TO BLOW ANY HOT AIR. AND IT GETS VERY COLD IN IOWA IN JANUARY. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE TO TRAVEL IN THE DEAD OF WINTER WITHOUT HEAT I HAD TO HAVE THE MOTOR REPLACED JANUARY 13, 2016. AND AS OF TODAY, JUNE 27, 2016, MY AIR CONDITIONER CONTINUES TO DRAIN IN MY CAR LEAVING ME EXPOSED TO MOLDY CONDITIONS IN MY CAR, DUE TO THE COMBINATION OF EXTREMELY HOT CONDITIONS COMBINED WITH A WET FLOOR. TODAY, JUNE 27, 2016 AROUND 11:30 AM I SAT AT A STOP LIGHT AND LISTENED TO MY FAN DIE. I TRIED TAKING IT OFF OF THE "AUTO" CONTROL AND RESET THE TEMPERATURE TO THE LOWEST I CAN GET IT (CURRENTLY 69 DEGREES) AND THE FAN ON AS HIGH AS IT CAN BE. THERE IS NO COOL AIR. AT 3:30 PM TODAY I STOPPED AT HOLZHAUER MOTORS IN CHEROKEE, IOWA THAT "REPAIRED" THE KINK IN THE A/C HOSE SHORTLY AFTER JUNE 17, 2015 AND REPLACED THE MOTOR ON JANUARY 13, 2016 AND NO ONE IN SERVICE WAS AVAILABLE TO VISIT WITH ME ABOUT CORRECTING THESE ISSUES.
POWER STEERING PUMP WEAR CONDITION RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM BUICK SEPTEMBER 2014 IN REGARDS TO A POWER STEERING PUMP WEAR CONDITION, BUT THE LETTER ADVISED NOT TO TAKE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR UNTIL IT WAS AN ISSUE. THE LETTER DID NOT STATE SPECIFICS AS TO HOW AN INDIVIDUAL WOULD KNOW THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE BUT WHILE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO HOLZHAUER MOTORS IN CHEROKEE, IA (AUTHORIZED DEALER) ON JUNE 17, 2015 FOR SERVICE (LUBE & FILTER CHANGE) I MENTIONED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT WHEN I TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL THERE WAS A WHINING SOUND. I WAS LATER CONTACTED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATING THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST OF REPLACING THE ACTUAL PUMP AND LABOR WAS COVERED UNDER SAID WARRANTY. THE SERVICE ADVISOR ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THE RACK AND PINION ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CLEARLY STATED THAT THE REASON THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED REPLACING WAS BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD GONE OUT, BUT THE PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER STEERING PUMP WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH THAT IT WHAT CAUSED THE RACK AND PINION TO FAIL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALER, THE MECHANIC LOCATED A LEAK IN THE BOOT OF THE POWER STEERING CASE. THE FAILURE CAUSED A STEERING SPEED FAILURE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER AUTHORIZED THEM TO REPAIR A CERTAIN AREA IN THE STEERING AT NO COST. THE CONTACT WANTED TO KNOW WHY THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TOTAL COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,250.
