I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE ON A FOUR LANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY DRIVING OVER AN OVERPASS NEAR ROCKPORT, MO. MY SPEED/CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET ON 70 MPH.THERE WERE ONE OR MORE CARS AHEAD OF ME IN THE PASSING LANE AND I WAS PASSING A SEMI-TRUCK IN THE RIGHT LANE. MY VEHICLE STARTED TO SPEED UP, WITHOUT ANY INPUT FROM ME. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES UNSUCCESSFULLY TO BRAKE AND COULD NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. I CHANGED LANES IN ORDER TO NOT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHICH WE WERE ALMOST UPON. IN DOING SO, THE SEMI-TRUCK CLIPPED THE CORNER OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS SPUN ON TO THE SHOULDER AND THEN ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES DOWN THE 65 FOOT EMBANKMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISING AND LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS. HE HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY AIRLIFTED TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL. I SUSTAINED A COMPOUND FRACTURE IN MY CLAVICLE, 5 BROKEN RIBS AND A CRACKED PELVIS. I WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR THREE DAYS.
WHILE DRIVING UP IN A PARKING LOT ON AN INCLINE STRUCTURE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR BEHIND OUR VEHICLE. WE'VE TRIED IT ON SEVERAL INCLINES AND IT ALWAYS ROLLS BACKWARDS IN DRIVE. WE HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL BUICK DEALERSHIPS AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS JUST A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE.WENT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT I JUST HAVE TO DRIVE IT LIKE I WOULD A MANUAL TRANSMISSION (USING BOTH FEET) TO BRAKE AND PREVENT IT FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH THAT PROBLEM. SAFETY SHOULD BE A PRIORITY AND IF INDEED THIS VEHCLE IS KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM THERE SHOULD HAVE BE RESOLUTION BY NOW.
VEHICLE ROLLED BACK WHILE ON AN INCLINE (PARKING STRUCTURE). IT WAS IN DRIVE ALMOST HIT THE CAR BEHIND IT. IT HAS DONE THIS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE THEN. CALLED BUICK DEALERSHIPS IN AREA WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A COMMON CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE. TOOK IT IN TO SERVICE DEPT. AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING ALSO, TOLD THAT WE SHOULD USE BOTH FEET LIKE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
AT LOW SPEEDS, MY BUICK ENCLAVE MAKES NOISE WHEN TURNING AND HAS FAILED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS BUT NO RECALL. PEOPLE WILL GET HURT OR KILLED DUE TO STEERING FAILURE. MY CAR IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAINS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ONE WEEK LATER THE CONTACT OBSERVED A LEAK FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TWO DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. REPAIR SHOP IDENTIFIED IT AS TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED. ON-LINE RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH BUICK, AND THEY EXTENDED THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO COVER REPAIRS FOR THE 2008-2009 MODEL. IT APPEARS THAT THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEM IS OCCURRING WITH THE 2010 MODEL. THE PROBLEM DID NOT MANIFEST ITSELF UNTIL AFTER THE 5 YEAR/100,000 M WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM WAS A STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN AND REPLACED IT. GM PROVIDED SOME RELIEF WITH A COURTESY COVERAGE OF PART OF THE COST. HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
1. WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE ENTERED "REDUCED POWER MODE" MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS DRIVER LOSES ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED WHILE TRAVELING WITH FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND WITH REDUCED ENGINE POWER, EVEN THE ABILITY TO PULL OUT OF THE LANE OF TRAVEL IS IMPAIRED. DEALER IDENTIFIED BAD THROTTLE BODY AS CAUSE AND REPLACED. 2. POWER STEERING PUMP FAILURE. ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED DUE TO WHINING NOISE PRIOR TO COMPLETE FAILURE. HAD PUMP FAILED COMPLETELY, DRIVER COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL WITH POWER ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE WHILE DRIVING. PUMP WAS REPLACED AND NECESSARY ASSOCIATED REPAIRS MADE BY DEALER. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN SPECIAL COVERAGE NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. UPDATED 1/16/15*CN THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED. 01/20/15. *JB
WENT TO DEALER FOR SERVICE WAS TOLD STEERING RACK WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ASKED ABOUT RECALLS FOR THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THEIR WERE NONE. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE REPAIR. RETURNED HOME TO FIND A NOTICE NOT A RECALL IN THE MAIL FROM GM ABOUT MY ISSUE. MY CONDITION IS CLEARLY ASSOCIATED WITH A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT IDENTIFIED BY GM. THIS IS AN ADMITTED URGENT SAFETY CONDITION AND GM NEEDS TO REPAIR THESE VEHICLES UNDER A MANDATORY RECALL CAMPAIGN AND NOT TRY AND FIND A WAY TO NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR IN HEAVY SUBURBAN TRAFFIC AND THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ON A VEHICLE OF THIS SIZE AND WEIGHT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONDITION THAT CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR A LOSS OF LIFE. *TR

MY VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD 58,000 MILES, STARTED FEELING RESISTANCE WHEN TURNING AND AN SCREECHING SOUND. THE RACK AND PINION NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1500.00. FOUND OUT THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE OVER 100 COMPLAINTS. WHERE DOES A SINGLE MOTHER OF 2 GET THE MONEY TO REPLACE SOMETHING THAT SEEMS TO BE FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. THE GMC DEALER WILL NOT ASSIST IN A PRICE REDUCTION, IF THIS IS NOT REPLACE THE CAR CAN STALL WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, OR FATALITY. *TR

THE DRIVER HAD TO PLACE FORCE ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE ABLE TO TURN AND KEEP THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS EXPERIENCING RUBBING AND RESISTANCE WHEN MAKING TURNS AT SLOW SPEEDS. I WAS DRIVING WITH 6 KIDS IN MY CAR AND WAS TURNING LEFT ACROSS A MAJOR STREET AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED AS I ENTERED ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TURNED. GOT HOME AND CHECKED THE STEERING FLUID WAS EMPTY. I REFILLED THE STEERING FLUID AND IT BEGAN LEAKING. TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY FOUND THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ($1,000) AND THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THE BOOTS GETTING WET FROM SOME STEERING FLUID, BUT MY VEHICLE THE STEERING FLUID LEAKED SO BADLY THAT THE STEERING FLUID NEEDED TO BE REFILLED DAILY. THE STEERING COMPONENTS IN THIS VEHICLE ARE FAULTY AND CREATING VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE THERE ARE MANY MANY COMPLAINTS FROM CUSTOMERS ON SIMILAR DANGEROUS SITUATIONS OF THEM TURNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE STEERING FAILING. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS. MY VEHICLE IS A 2010 WITH 65,000. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS SORT OF ISSUE. IT IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. *TR
IN THE COURSE OF ANNUAL STATE INSPECTION AND TENDING TO RECALL ISSUES, WAS TOLD THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS LEAKING. HAD NOT NOTICED ANY PROBLEM WITH IT. BECAUSE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE GOT REPAIR DONE; WARRANTY EXPIRED (OF COURSE) SO ENDED UP PAYING $1400 FOR REPLACING POWER STEERING RACK (INCLUDING 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT). CONTACTED GM AND THEY DID PARTIALLY REIMBURSE UNDER "SPECIAL COVERAGE". THAT SEEMED PRETTY DECENT OF THEM BUT NOT SO SURE NOW IN LIGHT OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS LISTED RE POWER STEERING IN THE ENCLAVE IN GENERAL AND THE 2010 ENCLAVE IN PARTICULAR. THERE CLEARLY IS AN ISSUE WITH 2010 ENCLAVES (AND MAYBE ACADIAS AND TRAVERSES) AND THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED. *TR
TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS. EVERY TIME WE SLOW TO ABOUT 5 MPH OR LESS TO MAKE TURNS AT CORNERS, STOP SIGNS OR CURVES WE LOOSE OUR POWER STEERING. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO PARK VEHICLE OR NAVIGATE PARKING LOTS. VERY UNSAFE WHEN OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS ARE IN THE PROXIMITY. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXHIBITED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION FAILING TO SHIFT OUT OF THIRD GEAR, THE STEERING GEAR WAS LEAKING, THE REAR BRAKE PAD AND SPRINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY STAYED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
SLOWED TO TURN RIGHT ON A GREEN LIGHT. AS I SLOWED DURING THE TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED NOT ALLOWING ME TO TURN THE WHEEL. I WAS FORCED TO VEER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC FROM THE CROSS STREET MISSING ANOTHER VEHICLE COMING AT ME BY A FEW SECONDS. SEEMS LIKE THE EXACT RECALL GM RECALLED IN APRIL 2014 EXCEPT MY POWER STEERING IS HYDRAULIC NOT ELECTRONIC. *TR
AT LOW SPEEDS AS IN TRYING TO PARK OR WAITING TO MAKE A TURN FROM THE STOPPED POSITION, THE STEERING BECOMES VERY STIFF. IT FEELS AS THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING AND IS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TREE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT STEAM WAS EMITTING FROM THE RADIATOR. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT OFFER A REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
VEHICLE POWER STEERING FAILS AT SLOW SPEEDS/ MOST PREVEAENT WHEN TURNING, PARKING AND ETC. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
ON JULY 28, 2014, TRAFFIC LIGHTS WERE OUT DUE TO A STORM AT A BUSY INTERSECTION MAKING IT A 4-WAY STOP. WHEN MY TURN TO PROCEED I STARTED OUT GOING NORTH AND A VEHICLE HEADING WEST DIDN'T REALIZE THE LIGHTS WERE OUT RAN THRU INTERSECTION HITTING ME ON RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE PUSHING MY VEHICLE OVER 2 LANES. I WOULD ESTIMATED SHE WAS DOING AT LEAST 45 MILES PER HOUR. SHE DIDN'T SEE ME AND I DIDN'T SEE HER BECAUSE A TRUCK WAS STOPPED BLOCKING BOTH OF OUR VIEWS. I BOUNCED OFF DRIVERS DOOR AND ENDED UP LAYING IN PASSENGER SEAT. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE AND WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER HELPED ME UP I NOTICED MY SEAT BELT HAD COME UNDONE AND THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. I WAS INJURED ON MY LEFT SIDE AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR DUE TO DAMAGE CAUSED BY ACCIDENT. I AM STILL CURRENTLY UNDER DOCTORS CARE AND DUE TO INJURIES I AM UNABLE TO PERFORM MY HOUSEHOLD DUTIES PLUS I AM UNABLE TO WALK. I ALSO SUFFERED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. *TR
OUR CAR HAS NOISY POWER STEERING WHEEL, HARD TO TURN. WENT TO DEALER ON 08/02/14 AND WAS TOLD THAT WE NEED A NEW STEERING GEAR BECAUSE OF LEAKING AND THAT WILL COST 2100. OUR CAR ONLY HAS 68,000 MILES ON IT!!!. THIS IS MANUFACTURER DEFECTIVE AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY FACTORY WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT CHEAP CAR, GM SHOULD KNOW THIS ISSUE AND STILL MAKE CAR FOR SALE WITH CHEAP MATERIALS. WE HAVE NO CHOICE BUT WILL HAVE TO PAY SINCE THIS CAN COST DEATH. WE WILL NOT BUY ANY AMERICAN CAR FROM NOW ON, TRY TO SUPPORT AMERICAN AUTO INDUSTRY BUT REALLY? I DECIDED TO SEARCH ON GOOGLE AND FOUND OUT LOTS OF COMPLAINT REGARDING POWER STEERING WHEEL 2010. WE NEED HELP TO GET THESE RECALL AND FIX IT!!! BEFORE MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS THIS MAY CAUSE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WOULD LOCK UP WHEN TURNING. A TEST DRIVE BY MY MECHANIC RESULTED IN A NEW STEERING GEAR 36R0450. WHEN I RESEARCHED STEERING PROBLEMS ON THE 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE, I FOUND A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE STEERING PROBLEMS ON THE 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. MY MECHANIC SAID THIS NEEDED IMMEDIATE REPAIR BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ITEM. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE A FORMAL GM RECALL. *TR

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AS HIS WAS DRIVING, THE STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE MANEUVERING IN A SHOPPING PARKING LOT. THE DEALER GAVE THE CONSUMER AN ESTIMATE OF $1200.00 TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RACK AND PINION. THE CONSUMER WENT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THE REPAIRS DONE FOR $861.55. SOON AFTERWARDS, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, WHICH STATED HE WOULD BE REIMBURSED SINCE THE REPAIRS HAD BEEN DONE. GM ONLY REIMBURSED THE CONSUMER $258.43 OF THE $861.55 REPAIR. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. NONE OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE POWER STEERING BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 40,200.
MY 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE, WITH 60,000 MILES LOST POWER STEERING WHILE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE STEERING BASICALLY LOCKED UP, I HAD GREAT DIFFICULTY GETTING THE VEHICLE OFF ON AN EXIT, SO THAT I COULD CALL FOR HELP. I HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE THERE HAD BEEN A LEAK IN THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY LEADING TO PUMP FAILURE AND GEAR DAMAGE, THEIR ESTIMATE TO FIX: $1800. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALER THAT THE ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS ARE LOOSE, THE ENGINE PHYSICALLY MOVES ABOUT 6 INCHES WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PUSHED. *TR
THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2010 BUICK ENCLAVE STOPPED WORKING SLOWLY. I WAS ALMOST UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. NOT ONLY WAS THE POWER STEERING A PROBLEM, BUT THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT HAD BEEN ON FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPT & TOLD THE SERVICE REP THAT MY POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. I ALSO ASKED THE AIRBAG RECALL BE DONE ON MY CAR. THE SERVICE REP ADVISED ME THERE WERE 2 RECALLS REQUIRED, BUT THE SECOND IF THE 2 REQUIRED SHE ORDER PARTS. I LEFT THE CAR, A DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE ($119.50) & I WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING PUMP & STEERING RACK WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $2,000. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP I HAVE USED FOR YEARS AND WHO I TRUST. THIS REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP, CLEANED METAL OUT OF THE SYSTEM & FILLED THE SYSTEM IN POWER STEERING FLUID ($724.00). I PICKED THE CAR UP & IT SEEMED OK. WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CAR HAD DUMPED POWER STEERING FLUID. I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE SAME REPAIR SHOP. THEY REPAIRED THE BURST LINE & I PICKED UP THE CAR, WHICH DROVE AS IT HAD BEFORE THE PROBLEMS BEGAN. I PARKED MY CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE FRONT OF THE CAR BELOW THE REAR OF THE CAR ON A DOWNWARD INCLINE. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I CALLED AAA AND PAID $90 TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AGAIN. THE CAR WAS TOWED ON A FLATBED AND WHEN IT ARRIVED AT THE SHOP, IT STARTED IMMEDIATELY. I TOLD THE REPAIR SHOP REP TO PARK THE CAR AS I HAD, ON AN INCLINE WITH THE FRONT LOWERED, OVERNIGHT. HE DID & IT WOULD NOT START THE NEXT MORNING. HE TOLD ME HE ROLLED THE CAR OFF OF THE INCLINE & IT STARTED PROMPTLY. HE SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE 2ND RECALL. I PICKED THE CAR UP AND DROVE IT FOR 2 DAYS. IT SOUNDED BAD, THE STEERING STUCK & THE STEERING STARTED MAKING LOUD GRINDING NOISES & IT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING BURNING. *JS
POWER STEERING DEFECT CAUSING SAFETY ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 75000 MILES ON IT AND POWER STEERING LOCKS BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE, DEALER INDICATES THAT PUMP AND RACK NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THESE PARTS TO WEAR OUT AT THIS NUMBER OF MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BECOME A RECALL BY GM. *TR
THE POWER STEERING WILL WORK FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 3 MINUTES OF GETTING INTO THE CAR AND THEN IT WILL GO OUT EVERYTIME I AM BELOW 20 MPH. I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND WON'T EVEN LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I AM CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY. ALSO, MY A/C AND HEAT JUST WENT OUT IN MY CAR. *TR

I WAS DRIVING FROM UTAH TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. I WAS COMING OUT OF BRIDGEPORT, CA, GOING OVER SONORA PASS, WHICH WINDS THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. AT SEVERAL SHARP TURNS THE POWER STEERING JUST QUIT AND I HAD TO TUG ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP IN MY LANE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE MAKING SHARP TURNS IN PARKING LOTS AND ALSO EXITING MY DRIVEWAY. THIS INCEDENT IN THE MOUNTAINS HAS LEFT ME VERY WORRIED. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM BACK IN MAY AND IT HAS BEEN MORE NOTICEABLE AND BOTHERSOME LATELY. IT IS HARD TO MAKE TURNS IN MY BUICK ENCLAVE WHEN TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS (25 MPH). IT IS ALSO VERY HARD TO TURN AND PARK OR BACK OUT AND TURN. THAT REALLY SCARES ME BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO REALLY FIGHT WITH IT. IT IS AS IF THERE IS NO POWER STEERING YET IT HAS POWER STEERING FLUID. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A PARTIAL SPECIAL COVERAGE REIMBURSEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I WAS DRIVING FROM IDAHO TO LAUREL MONTANA. I WAS COMING OUT OF BOZEMAN MONTANA, GOING OVER BOZEMAN PASS, WHICH WINDS THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. I WAS PASSING A CAR AT ABOUT 70. AFTER I HAD PASSED THE CAR I TRIED TURNING BACK INTO THE LANE BUT THE STEERING WHEEL FROZE UP. I PULLED THE STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD TO THE RIGHT AND IT BROKE FREE, WHICH CAUSED ME TO OVER CORRECT TO SOME DEGREE AND ALMOST WENT INTO THE DITCH. THE STEERING IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT. THIS DEFECT WILL KILL SOMEONE SOMEDAY. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. GM IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT NOW IN PROCESS. I HOPE NO ONE DIES BEFORE IT IS RESOLVED. *TR
2010 CERTIFIED PREOWNED BUICK ENCLAVE WITH 56K MILES. HAS HAD NUMEROUS OCCASIONS OF INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS. EXAMPLES ARE PULLING INTO MY GARAGE, ENTERING AND EXITING PARKING LOTS AND GARAGES. I TOOK TO DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOT CODE, THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE, AND THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I FIND THAT DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE WITH MULTIPLE NHTSB COMPLAINTS AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. THERE IS NO WAY MY WIFE WOULD BE ABLE TO OVERCOME THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN THIS VEHICLE AND IT COULD EASILY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT IF FAILURE OCCURS WHILE EXITING A PARKING LOT ONTO A STREET. *TR
SINCE THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR EXCEEDED 60,000, THE POWER STEERING GIVES OUT INTERMITTENTLY. IT IS MOST PREVALENT PULLING INTO PARKING SPACES OR WHEN CHANGING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE AND AT LOW SPEEDS. IT HAS GIVEN OUT AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN MAKING MOVING TURNS. THE POWER STEERING WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER ON JULY 1 WITH 67,000 MILES ON THE CAR, YET THE PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT WITH NO CHANGE AT ALL IN PERFORMANCE. *TR

THE DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED A NEW STEERING COLUMN BECAUSE THE BUSHING ARE WORN AND YOU CAN NOT JUST REPLACE THEM ALONE.
