I PURCHASED A 2007 ESCALADE AND HAVE HAD IT FOR JUST ABOUT 1 YEAR. SO FAR I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE WINDSHIELD, HUBS, EVAP SENSOR, PURGE VALVE, FUEL LEVEL SENSOR, TRANSMISSION, DEFECTIVE RIMS, PLUS THE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ITEMS....BRAKES, ROTORS, BATTERY. ALL OF WHICH HAPPENED TO GO RIGHT AROUND 90,000 TO 100,000 MILES. I CONTACTED CADILLAC TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES AND COMPENSATE SOME COSTS AS THIS SUV HAS ALWAYS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED WITH THE BEST PRODUCTS AVAILABLE INCLUDING SYNTHETIC OILS. THEY REFUSED TO WORK WITH ME.... WELL TODAY THE ICING ON THE CAKE. MY GRANDFATHER PASSED AWAY THIS WEEK, WHILE MOVING HIS PERSONAL BELONGINGS AND HAVING A FULL TRUCK LOAD OF THEM THE TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE. SMOKE BEGAN TO POUR IN FROM THE DASH BY THE WINDSHIELD THE UNDER THE DASH. I OPENED THE HOOD AND FLAMES SHOT OUT BURNING MY HAND. THE POLICE & FD CAME. THANK GOD FOR THE FAMILY IN THE HOME NEAR BY WHO RAN OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. I HAD TO PAY FOR A TOW FROM MAINE TO NH. I WAS OUT OF STATE, THE DEALER IS CLOSED UNTIL MONDAY. FIND A VEHICLE TO USE TO GO TO NY WHERE THE FUNERAL SERVICE ARE BEING HELD. THIS VEHICLE IS UNDEPENDABLE, UNRELIABLE, JUNK THAT IS UNSAFE. NOT ONLY IS IT BECAUSE THIS ONE IS A LEMON BUT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT BACK THE PRODUCT. GM DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE PUBLICS SAFETY. THEY DON'T CARE IF FOLKS GET INJURED OR KILLED. MANY OF THE ISSUES I HAVE HAD ARE SAFETY ISSUES BUT GM DOSE NOT FIND THEM TO BE. IF A TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP WHEN YOU ARE DOING 65 ON A HIGHWAY AND DROPS TO 20 I THINK THAT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MULTIPLE MECHANICS. IF YOUR WINDSHIELD IS DEFECTIVE DUE TO THE PLASTIC AND GLASS SEPARATING AND YOU CAN'T SEE TO DRIVE, THAT TOO IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF YOUR HUBS GO BAD YOUR WHEEL CAN COME OFF AT ANY SPEED...ANOTHER ISSUE. AND IF YOU ARE TRAPPED IN A BURNING CAR. I WOULD ALSO SAY THAT MAY BE AN ISSUE TOO. *TR
FAILURE OF THE WHEEL HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY. CAUSED LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, LOSS OF ABS, WHEEL DETACHMENT AND WHEEL FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CADILLAC ESCALADE. WHILE DRIVING SHE CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE ENTIRE FRONT-END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED, AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSEQUENTLY SHE RECEIVED INJURIES TO HER NECK. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. ALSO THE FRONT BRAKE PADS FRACTURED WITHIN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 58,000.
2007 CADILLAC ESCALADE - REQUIRED 2 BRAKE JOBS UNDER 50K MILES COMPARED TO 2004 CADILLAC ESCALADE OWNED BY SAME DRIVER THAT DIDN'T NEED BRAKE WORK UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 90K MILES. DRIVER IS SAME FOR BOTH VEHICLES, DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR 2007 SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED, MILES PER CALENDAR DAY, SIGNIFICANTLY LESS. DRIVER DOES NOT TAILGATE OR, RIDE BRAKES. DEALER WHO'S COMPLETED REPAIRS HAS NO EXPLANATION EXCEPT POSSIBLY A HARD BRAKE SITUATION(S) CAUSED DAMAGE WHILE BRAKES WERE HEATED UP OR, A HARD BRAKE SITUATION(S) FOLLOWED BY THE ROTORS GETTING WET, CAUSING WARP WAS ISSUE. DEALER PUSHES CONCEPT THAT DRIVER IS ISSUE (CHANGED DRIVING HABITS - MORE AGGRESSIVE DRIVING OR, CONDITIONS) VS. PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR CAUSED BY QUALITY OF COMPONENTS. DEALER COMPARES 2007 ESCALADE BRAKE WEAR TO THAT OF A 2006 SRX DROVE BY SAME PERSON WHICH NEEDED BRAKE WORK AT 39K MILES. WHEN ASKED IF THE MASTER CYLINDER COULD BE APPLYING TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO ROTORS, DEALER SAID WE COULD SPECULATE ALL DAY BUT WAS CONFIDENT THE MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE WAS NOT THE PROBLEM AND REVERTS DISCUSSION TO DRIVER. SEEMS ODD SINCE I DRIVE FEWER MILES UNDER LESS INTENSE CONDITIONS. THE 2004 ESCALADE - WAS A FULL TIME SALES MANAGER TRAVELING ON HIGHLY POPULATED ROADWAYS - CHICAGO, CINCINNATI, INDIANAPOLIS, MINNEAPOLIS, IN 'RUSH HOUR' TRAFFIC. THE 2007 ESCALADE - RETIRED AND DRIVE MINIMALLY POPULATED FREEWAYS AND/OR MINOR ROADWAYS IN MICHIGAN. HAVE NOT CONTACTED GM BECAUSE PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS WITH GM ON OTHER MATTERS WERE MET BY REPRESENTATIVES WHO DIDN'T VIEW THEY HAD A ROLE IN CORRECTING. AN O2 SENSOR REPLACED WHEN FIRST PURCHASED WAS TOLD NOT WARRANTY ITEM AS IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP DAMAGE FROM OCCURRING TO IT. EVEN THOUGH IT'S LOCATED OUTSIDE/UNDERNEATH VEHICLE AND I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO KEEP PROTECTED OTHER THAN TO ENSURE ROUTINE SERVICE. HEARD IT WAS NO DIFFERENT THAN GM NOT BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR A ROCK HITTING THE WINDOW AND CRACKING IT. APPRECIATE YOUR HELP! *TR
SQUEAKING FROM FRONT LEFT WHEEL...BRAKES RUBBING? TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE. FIRST TIME THEY "ADJUSTED" SOMETHING IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. SECOND TIME THEY SAID BEFORE I BROUGHT IT IN THAT THEY WOULD PUT NEW ROTORS ON IT WHEN I CAME IN AGAIN, SO I BROUGHT IT IN AND THEN THE 65+ YEAR OLD SERVICE PEOPLE COULDN'T HEAR THE SQUEAK AND MY ORIGINAL SERVICE PERSON WASN'T THERE...SO THEY SAID THEY DID SOMETHING...BUT NOW IT IS WORSE! I AM GLAD TO I SPENT 70K ON A POS! *JB
BRAKES SQUEAK REALLY LOUD. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE. PROBLEM KEEP GETTING WORST, UNTIL THE POINT WE DON'T DRIVE IT ANYMORE. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID TO WAIT A MONTH. *NM
