TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE SERVICE PARKING ASSIST AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR INDICATORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR KNOB FRACTURED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (MCLAUGHLIN CADILLAC IN EAST MOLINE, IL) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
CRACKED DASH- DRIVER'S SIDE, COMPLETELY CRACKED AND SEPARATED, FROM STEERING WHEEL SIDE TO WINDSHIELD. THE DASH CRACKED IN SECOND PLACE A FEW DAYS AGO, ALONG SIDE OF THE MAIN CRACK. VERY FLIMSY MATERIAL AND CREATES A NOISE WHEN DRIVING. THE DASH HAS STARTED TO LIFT AND SEPARATE AT THE LARGER CRACK AND THIS IS CAUSING A GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD WHEN THE SUN IS OUT WHILE DRIVING(VERY DANGEROUS!). THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF THE GLARE AND THE POTENTIAL OF BROKEN DASH FRAGMENTS THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR EVEN A FATALITY IF THE AIRBAGS ARE DEPLOYED. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES AND EVEN DEATH!

THE DOOR HANDLES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,393.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. *TR
WHILE TRYING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE THE DOOR HANDLE CAME OFF IN OUR HANDS NOT ALLOWING US TO ENTER THE VEHICLE ON A BUSY STREET. I CONTACTED GM WHO HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE IT STATING THAT MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. HOWEVER, GIVEN THE OVERWHELMING NUMBER OF OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND OWNERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS $300 REPAIR. *TR
CRACK ON FRONT DASH APPEARED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. TODAY I NOW HAVE THREE CRACKS AND AN ESTIMATE OF ALMOST $400 TO REPLACE THE PART. IN A QUICK LOOK ONLINE THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON. I KNOW THERE IS A PUSH TO HAVE GM REPLACE THIS PART AT THEIR EXPENSE AS IT APPEARS TO BE DEFECTIVE. RIGHT REAR EXT DOOR HANDLE BROKE. DUE TO THIS I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY CHILD OUT OF THE SEAT HE WAS IN. THIS DEFECT COULD PREVENT EMERGENCY EXIT FROM A VEHICLE. PER CADILLAC FORUMS THIS HAS BEEN A WELL KNOWN DEFECT IN THE PART SINCE MID 2007 AND EFFECT VEHICLES AT ALL MILEAGES. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE LOOSE FROM THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND WAS QUOTED $300+ FOR THE REPAIR. I LOOKED ONLINE AND WAS SURPRISED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR NUMEROUS OWNERS. SO I CONTACTED CADILLAC, AND WAS INITIALLY TOLD IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY, AND TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AT NO COST TO ME. AFTER TAKING OFF WORK, WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS NOT TRUE, WHEN ACTUALITY THE INTERIOR HANDLES ARE THE ACTUAL HANDLES UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE CHROME PEALING. AT THIS POINT THE CHROME ON THE INTERIOR HANDLES WERE NOT A CONCERN OF MINE. AFTER GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH GM/CADILLAC AND MY LOCAL DEALER FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS, I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT HANDLE AND DID THE REPAIR MYSELF. ABOUT A YEAR LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SEPARATED FROM THE BODY, I CONTACT CADILLAC TO MAKE A COMPLAINT, I DO GET A CALL BACK, THE REP ASK ME WHAT DO I WANT THEM TO DO, I SAY " IT WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY KNOWING THIS IS A ONGOING ISSUE THAT THEY PAY FOR THE REPAIRS", I WAS TOLD " THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND DOESN'T FIT THE CATEGORY OF HAVING A RECALL ISSUED", I STATED WELL IF I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT, AND SOMEONE NEEDED TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? I WAS BASICALLY TOLD NO. AGAIN THEY ASK WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO? I SAID WELL, THIS IS MY SECOND HANDLE THAT HAS BROKEN, AT LEAST PAY SOME PORTION OF IT, I WAS TOLD THAT IS LEFT UP TO THE DEALER TO DECIDE. WHEN MY FIRST HANDLE BROKE, I TRIED TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE DEALER TO BRING THE COST DOWN, WITH NO SUCCESS. SO I LET THE REP., KNOW JUST ANNOTATE THIS AS A COMPLAINT. I AGAIN WENT ON THE INTERNET AND PURCHASED A HANDLE AND DID THE REPAIR MYSELF. THE HANDLES CAN BE FOUND FOR LESS THAN $50 (WITH A WARRANTY) AND TAKE ABOUT 30 MIN. TO INSTALL. MY INTERIOR HANDLE WERE NEVER REPLACED, GO FIGURE, NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR HANDLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ISSUE IS THE DOOR HANDLES COMING OFF LAST SUMMER DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER.. HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY $100 PER TIME SINCE IT HAPPEN AT DIFFERENT TIMES.. LOOKING NOW FOR RETURN OF MY $200 SINCE I SEE DEALERS ARE REPLACE FOR FREE.. *JS
2007 ESCALADE TAIL GATE CAME OPEN ON ITS OWN ALL CARGO SPILLED ONTO THE STREET . THE CAR WAS IN GEAR MOVING THRU AN INTERSECTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE, THEN I STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE I CONTACTED CAD THEY DID NOT SEEM TOO INTERESTED OR CONCERNED BECAUSE VEHICLE HAS 60K MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE PULLED OUT FROM THE DOOR THREE TIMES. WHEN YOU GO TO OPEN THE DOOR, THE DOOR HANDLE PULLS OUT FROM THE DOOR FRAME. I JUST HAD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME AT A COST OF $232.72. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD IF YOU WERE IN A CRASH AND HAD TO HAVE SOME ONE OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE TO REMOVE YOU OR YOUR FAMILY. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
I HAVE A CADILLAC ESCALADE 2007 AWD. IT HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT AND THE CHROME PLATED INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE PEELED OFF EXPOSING SHARP EDGES. BOTH THE PASSENGER AND THE DRIVER INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE EXPOSED SHARP EDGES. THROUGH NORMAL USE, THE CHROME HAS PEELED. THERE HAS BEEN NO ABUSE TO THEM. THESE SHARP EDGES HAVE CUT MY FINGER ONCE AND ALSO PASSENGER FINGERS ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE CUT IS WORSE THAN A PAPER CUT. THEY AVERAGE ABOUT 1.5 INCHES. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE AS I AM OUT OF BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. *TR
I PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW AND TAKE EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF MY CARS. OVER THE YEARS OF OWNING THE TRUCK, ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES HAVE FALLEN OFF THE OUTSIDE. ONE FELL OFF THE INSIDE. AND ANOTHER DOOR AFTER A REPAIR WOULDN'T OPEN AT ALL. I RECENTLY HAD MY TRUCK IN DUE TO THE LAST OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE BREAKING. THE SERVICE MANAGER PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT I WAS OPENING THE DOOR WRONG, AND WASN'T I EVER INSERVICED ON HOW TO OPEN A DOOR WHEN I BOUGHT IT? REALLY? I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED AN INSERVICE, AND HOW IS THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT MY FAULT? THREE OF THE 4 DOORS WERE UNDER WARRANTY. BUT AFTER READING THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THE FORTH DOOR. *TR
