THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2010 SRX DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATELY LIGHT TO SAFELY OPERATE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT. THE PASSENGER SIDE IS ACCEPTABLE BUT THE DRIVERS SIDE IS EXTREMELY WEAK! BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH SIGNIFICANTLY UPGRADED BULBS WITHOUT IMPROVEMENT. MOISTURE/CONDENSATION OCCURS INSIDE THE LENS AND MAY BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND ONLY CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. ONLINE RESEARCH HAS SHOWN NUMEROUS POST DESCRIBING THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUE. OPERATING WITH HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS PROVIDE ADEQUATE LIGHT BUT PRESENTS A POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SEEMS THAT ISSUE IS RELATED TO GM/CADILLAC NOT PROPERLY SEALING THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. COST TO REPLACE/ REPAIR IS SIGNIFICANT. SINCE HAVING PROPERLY LIGHTING WOULD SEEM LIKE A REASONABLE SAFETY CONCERN I ASK THAT YOU REVIEW THIS MATTER AND ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL REQUIRING THE MANUFACTURER TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE AT LITTLE OR NO COST TO THE OWNER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CADILLAC SRX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KING O'ROURKE BUICK GMC DEALER, LOCATED ON 756 SMITHTOWN BYPASS, SMITHTOWN, NY 11787, PHONE: (631) 482-7312, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS RETAINED WATER CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO FAIL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,300.
AFTER IT RAINED, I NOTICED THERE WERE 3+ INCHES OF WATER IN THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY CAUSING MOISTURE BUILDUP. THE BUILDUP LEADS TO HAVING NO HEADLIGHTS. I HAVE TRIED COVERING IT UP WITH CAR COVERS AND DRYING OUT THE WATER BUT NOTHING HAS WORKED. A FEW MONTHS HAVE GONE BY AND THE PASSENGER SIDE IS NOW ALSO AFFECTED.
MY TRANSMISSION FAILED WHEN A RADIATOR HOSE CAME OFF AND MY WARRANTY EXPIRED BY 3000 MILES BUT I STILL HAVE IT TILL DEC.2018. THIS HAPPEN TO ME THURSDAY NOV..9,2017. HAD MY SUV AT GOLD COASTING OAKHURST WHERE I PURCHASED IT THEY PUT HOSE BACK ON,BUT THEY DO NOT WANT TO COVER TRANSMISSION PROBLEM
EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS BUILDING UP CONDENSATION INSIDE AND SHORTENING OUT COMPONENTS DUE TO HEADLIGHTS UNIT NOT BEING SEALED CORRECTLY. REPLACING HEADLIGHTS COST APROX $3000 TO REPLACE OR REPAIR. THIS ISSUE IS DUE TO GM NOT SEALING THE UNIT PROPERLY / CORRECTLY. IF THE HEADLIGHTS WERE CORRECTLY SEALED THERE WOULD NEVER BE ANY CONDENSATION / LEAKAGE GETTING INSIDE AND SHORTENING OUT ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT AS HEADLIGHTS CAN STOP WORKING. WHEN STARTING VEHICLE THE NEXT EVENING HEADLIGHTS DID NOT COME ON AND RECECIVED A MESSAGES ON DASH BOARD TO CHECK LEFT AND RIGHT HEADLIGHTS BULB. CADILLAC DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME CONDENSATION BUILD UP. MOREOVER, IF A PERSON IS ON A LONG DRIVING TRIP OR LOCAL, HEADLIGHTS CAN GO OUT AND LAW ENFORCMENT CAN STOP AN INDIVIDUAL FOR DRIVING WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS.
MOISTURE FORMS IN THE HEADLIGHT DUE TO FAULTY SEALING CAUSING THE WIRING TO SHORT OUT AND THEN THE HEADLIGHT BURNS OUT. REPAIRS ARE COSTLY, PAID $1817.29 IN OCTOBER 2016. NOW THE OTHER LEADLIGHT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT.
BOTH HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY OUT BOTH LENSES FULL OF CONDENSATION, NO HIGHBEAMS EITHER

FAULTY TRANSMISSION. NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY
I'VE TAKEN MY CAR SEVERAL PLACES & BEING TOLD SEVERAL FUEL INJECTORS ARE LEAKING INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. NUMEROUS MECHANICS, AMONG OTHERS, HAVE TOLD ME THIS CAN START A FIRE AT ANY TIME.
PARKED. LESS THAN 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE. NO LOUD MUSIC SYSTEM. ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS LOUD POP. MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAS SHATTERED AND PIECES OF IT FELL ON MY 3-YEAR-OLD.
CONDENSATION AND WATER ARE LEAKING INTO THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A CADILLAC SERVICE CENTER FOR EVALUATION. THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE WITH A QUOTE FOR $2200 TO REPLACE THE HEADLAMP ENCLOSURES AND STATED THAT INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS BECAUSE IT WAS COSMETIC. HOWEVER, IF I CANNOT AFFORD REPAIRS AND I CHOOSE TO FORGO REPLACEMENT, THE HEADLIGHTS WILL EVENTUALLY SHORT OUT. THIS IS MORE THAN A COSMETIC ISSUE. THE SEALS ON THE HEADLAMP ENCLOSURE ARE DEFECTIVE AND ALLOW WATER TO ENTER THE HEADLIGHTS. THE CONDENSATION DIMS THE HEADLIGHT QUALITY AT NIGHT MAKING NIGHT-DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS. CADILLAC SAID THE $2200 WOULD ONLY COVER REPLACEMENT WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART SO I MAY NEED TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED LONG AGO. NIGHTTIME DRIVING IS VERY DANGEROUS WITHOUT FULLY FUNCTIONAL HEADLIGHTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CADILLAC SRX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BELT AND TIMING CHAIN COULD FRACTURE AND CAUSE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THE DEALER HAD NOT DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *TT *TR

* Component systems ABS, braking, steering, loud noises in rear wheels, grinding, are all malfunctioning. The left rear tire was tited while driving, I was told it was unsafe to drive. It's currently at the dealership. * Safety concerns are in the documentation. There are others in Add. Encl. VI - X. Due to the download restrictions, I was unable to submit. * The problems were also noticed by another service center wile putting tires on. * Warning Lights are consistently on: ABS, Engine, Stabilitrac. I can't remember the exact initial date, I know it's been years. I have called this to the attention to the service manager every time the car has been repaired. I have always taken it to the same Cadillac dealership and it's been the same service manager. I am sure, through all of the service records, the initial date can be found. It's been always overlooked. I paid cash for it at another non-Cadillac dealership in 12/2017. I am tired of being taken advantage of. Please help? Your immediate attention will be kindly appreciated. Thank you!
THIS VEHICLE IS PRETTY GOOD BUT WHAT HAS FRUSTRATED ME FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW IS BECAUSE MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND THE LIGTHS ARE ALMOST NON-EXISTENT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE HORRIBLE FOR A WHILE IT APPEARED THERE WAS A LOT OF MOISTURE AND WATER IN HEADLIGHTS AND NOW WE HAVE TO USE BRIGHTS IN ORDER TO SEE ANYTHING. I WAS A PRICE OF 1600 FOR BOTH LIGHTS TO BE FIXED AND I AM A PASTOR AND DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR LIGHTS. PLEASE HELP ME. I ALSO WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AM NOW HAVING ISSUES IN AND OUT WITH RADIO AND THE SCREEN NOT MOVING UP OR DOWN AT SPORADIC INTERVALS. SOMETIMES IT WORKS AND OTHERS IT DOES NOT.
HEADLIGHT SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I CANNOT USE MY LOW DIMS AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE ROAD IS NOT AT ALL VISIBLE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT CHOOSES NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE HAVE ALREADY HAD A MINOR ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE LOW VISIBILITY. I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS TO GM ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS FOR THIS ISSUE FROM OTHER CONSUMERS THAT ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED FRANK KENT CADILLAC (3500 W LOOP 820 S, FORT WORTH, TX 76116, 817-385-1736) AND RECEIVED A QUOTE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MOISTURE IN DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT DUE TO BROKEN SEAL. MANUFACTURER/DEALER KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLE'S CAUSING DIFFICULTY SEEING AT NIGHT WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. NEW HEADLAMPS BURN OUT PREMATURELY AND CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME UNEXPECTEDLY. ALSO, STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON, ABS LIGHT ALWAYS ON.
DUE TO BAD SEALS IN HEADLIGHTS AND CONDENSATION LIGHTS ARE ALWAYS DIM TO THE POINT CANNOT SEE TO DRIVE VEHICLE AT NIGHT EVEN AFTER CHANGING BULBS. CADILLAC STILL USING FAULTY HEADLIGHTS WITH BAD SEALS WHEN REPLACING.
HE HEADLIGHTS GET MOISTURE IN THEM CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO BARELY WORK. I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING AT NIGHT. IT IS SO DANGEROUS. THE COMPANY IS VERY MUCH AWARE OF THIS DEFECT IN THEIR PRODUCT AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. - OTTERTAIL, MN, US
DO TO BAD SEALS IN THE HEADLIGHTS WATER GETS INTO THE LIGHT CAUSING THE DIM LIGHTS TO BE SO LOW YOU CANNOT SEE THE ROAD TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. IF YOU TRY TO GET IT REPAIRED GM WANTS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE LIGHT WITH THE SAME BAD COMPONENT AT YOUR COST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. REPLACING THE LIGHT WITH THE SAME BAD COMPONENT DOES NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM DUE TO IN TIME THE SEALS WILL LEAK AGAIN CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT OR GO SO DIM YOU CANNOT DRIVE SAFELY AT NIGHT.
I DROVE THE VEHICLE, PARKED, AND I NOTICED THE ENGINE FAN DIDNT TURN OFF IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AFTER PARKED (OVER 2 HOURS). I DROVE TO THE DEALER ONLY FOR THEM TO REFUSE TO RUN A SIMPLE DIAGNOSTIC. WAS DRIVING AND VEHICLE BEING ACCELERATING EVEN AFTER I COMPLETELY REMOVED ME FEET; I ALSO LOOKED DOWN WITNESSED THE PEDAL MODULATING ITSELF IN AND OUT, SHORTLY FOLLOWED BY AN ABRUPT BRAKING INCIDENT. I WAS JUST ABLE TO RESTART AND PULL OVER TO EMERGENCY STOP. I HADNT GOTTEN FAR FROM THE DEALER, SO AFTER TWO HOURS OF WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME VIOLENT BRAKING BUT THIS TIME ALSO FOLLOWED BY A SPORADIC LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO CREEP THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND CONTROL ANY LOSSES OF CONTROL, IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING A SEIZURE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE MY STALL, UNINTENDED BRAKING, POWER STEERING LOSS, AND FAN (I IMAGINE THIS COULD BE A FIRE ISSUE AS WELL). THANK YOU
WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY, THE HEADLIGHTS APPEARS TO BE ON BUT NOT STRONG AT ALL. THE ROADS ARE NOT VISIBLE AT NIGHT TIME WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON. SOMETIMES I NEED TO TURN MY HIGH BEAMS ON JUST TO SEE THE ROAD AHEAD. I HAVE RECENTLY CHANGED THE LIGHT BULB, NO CHANGE OCCURRED. I HAVE BUFFED THE HEADLIGHTS TO GET RID OF ANY BUILD UP, NO CHANGE. THIS IS A SINGLE OWNER VEHICLE AND HAS 55K MILES. DEFINITELY A SAFTEY ISSUE!
FRONT SUSPENSION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE CONTROL ARMS. CODE P0017 GENERATED BY COMPUTER INDICATING NEED TO REPLACE TIMING CHAIN. VEHICLE CURRENTLY AT 90,000 MILES
I OPENED THE POWER TAILGATE WITH MY REMOTE CONTROL AND REACHED INTO THE CAR TO GET SOME ITEMS OUT OF THE BACK. INSTEAD OF STAYING IN THE UP POSITION, THE TAILGATE CAME DOWN ABOUT 12 INCHES AND THEN BACK UP AND THEN HEADED DOWNWARD ONTO MY BACK. I AM 6 FOOT, THREE INCHES AND HAD ALL I COULD DO TO KEEP IT FROM CRUSHING ME. I MANAGED TO DUCK AND PULL OUT BEFORE IT SLAMMED DOWN. IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MY MUCH SMALLER WIFE, SHE VERY WELL COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. I WAS PARKED AND IN A PARKING LOT. SINCE THEN, I HAVE TRIED IT SEVERAL TIMES AND IT CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING RENDERING IT TOTALLY USELESS.
THE HEADLIGHT FAILED ON OUR VEHICLE DUE TO MOISTURE INSIDE THE LIGHT. APPARENTLY, GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS DEFECT AS IT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT. HOWEVER, CADILLAC WANTS $2000 TO FIX THIS HEADLIGHT WHICH I SEE AS A SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY IN FLORIDA WHERE MOISTURE CAN ACCUMULATE INSIDE AN IMPROPERLY SEALED HEADLIGHT. IF BOTH BALLASTS FAIL, IT WOULD LEAVE THE DRIVER WITHOUT ANY HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT. THIS HEADLIGHT FAILED DURING A HEAVY RAINSTORM IN FLORIDA AT NIGHT, LEAVING US WITH ONLY ONE HEADLIGHT.

THE HEADLAMPS ON THE 2010 CADILLAC SRX ARE NOT SAFE! THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT MOISTURE AND CONDENSATION GETTING INSIDE THESE LAMPS CAUSING HEADLIGHTS TO BURN OUT. I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT WHEN MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE IS MOISTURE IN THE HEADLIGHT THAT CAUSED THE BULB TO GO OUT. THEY QUOTED ME OVER 2K FOR A HEADLAMP N BULB. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE HEADLAMPS ASAP!! THESE VEHICLES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE MADE WITH THE BEST PARTS, BUT I SEE GM HAS FAILED!! THIS MATTER NEEDS ATTENTION IMMIDIATLY BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR EVEN WORSE!!

I BOUGHT A USED 2010 CADILLAC SRX LAST DECEMBER, DROVE IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK THE NOTICED DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS OUT SO WENT TO AUTOZONE TO CHECK PRICE OF BULB $100 NO WAY, SO CHECKED EBAY AND GOT 2 FOR $25. HEADLIGHT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH AND DRIVER SIDE LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN SO I TRIED REPLACING IT WITH THE OTHER BULB AND IT DIDN'T WORK. TOOK VEHICLE BY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT SOUNDED LIKE THE BALLAST WAS BAD WHICH COSTS $225 JUST FOR PART AND $444 TOTAL W/LABOR. TOLD DEALERSHIP TO GO AHEAD AND REPLACE IT AND HEADLIGHT STILL DIDN'T WORK. DEALERSHIP SAID CONDENSATION WAS IN LIGHT CAUSING IT NOT TO WORK AND I NEEDED A HEADLIGHT REPLACEMENT WITH TOTAL COST OF $1700 WHICH COULDN'T AFFORD JUST FOR A HEADLIGHT SO I FOUND ONE ONLINE FOR $275 AND INSTALLED IT MYSELF AND IT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH NOW OUT AGAIN. HEAVY RAIN FOR 3 DAYS AND I'M WONDERING IF MOISTURE IS INSIDE IT BECAUSE I REMOVED THE BUMPER AGAIN AND SWITCHED BULBS FROM GOOD SIDE AND PUT ON BAD SIDE AND BULB NOT WORKING BUT BAD SIDE BULB IS WORKING ON GOOD SIDE. I'M ALSO GOING TO REPLACE THE RELAY FUSE TO SEE IF THAT WORK. DON'T SEE WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK BACK AND FORTH FROM THE REAR WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE "SERVICE REAR AXLE" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. RYAN CHEVROLET, LOCATED AT 1800 SOUTH BROADWAY, MINOT, NORTH DAKOTA 58701, DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AXLE AND THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,100.

VERY DISAPPOINTING TO SEE ALL THESE SAME COMPLAINTS AND THE COMPANY REFUSING TO CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS SAFETY. I'VE ONLY OWNED THE CAR A FEW MONTHS AND I LOVE EVERYTHING EXCEPT THAT, AND IT IS A DEAL BREAKER.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. DRIVING TO WORK, WENT TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, "NO" BRAKES. I PUMPED THE PEDAL A COUPLE OF TIMES, FINALLY ATTAINED ENOUGH PRESSURE TO STOP THE CAR. THERE WERE NO SIGNALS, WARNING INDICATORS NOTING TO WARN ME OF THE STOPPING ABILITY OF THE CAR. THE PREVIOUS DAY, THE CAR WAS FINE, GOOD SOLID BRAKE PEDAL. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THE CAR WAS INSPECTED, FLUID LEVELS FINE. DEALER SUGGESTED TO BLEED THE BRAKE SYSTEM FOR ENTRAPPED AIR. I THOUGHT THIS WAS EXTREMELY STRANGE. ALSO RECOMMENDED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE 60% GONE, SHOULD BE REPLACED. I FOLLOWED THE DEALERS RECOMMENDATIONS, AND THE CAR RESPONDED, EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW EXCEPT I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR OTHERS INJURED BY THIS FAILURE.

REPLACED HEADLAMP BULBS, HEADLAMP SHIELDS AND CLEANED PROFESSIONALLY, STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. NOTICED CONDENSATION IN HEAD LIGHTS NEVER GOES AWAY. NEIGHBOR HAS SAME 2012 MODEL REPORTED SAME PROBLEM AND HAD TO REPLACE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS FOR $1800.
I AM ONE OF MANY CADILLAC SRX OWNERS WITH A MOISTURE PROBLEM INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. I SPOKE TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY OFFERED 2 "SOLUTIONS." AS A BAND-AID, THEY OFFERED TO DRILL HOLES IN THE CAR TO ALLOW THE WATER TO DRAIN. UNSATISFACTORY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FORMAL REPAIR FOR THIS WAS OVER $2,000. RIDICULOUS. THE SERVICE WRITER INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A "KNOWN ISSUE" AND THAT MY HEADLIGHTS COULD SHORT OUT AT ANY TIME. AT NIGHT, THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION WOULD PRESENT A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I NOTICED THAT 86 OF THE 200 COMPLAINTS FOR THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL WERE FOR THIS SAME ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING MY WIFE HAD TO PUSH BRAKE PEDAL FURTHER DOWN TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES TO SLOW OR STOP. PROBLEM CAME ON RELATIVELY QUICKLY. TOOK TO SHOP. DIAGNOSED AS A LEAK IN POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. ALSO, THE HOOD RELEASE MECHANISM IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT BROKE, MAKING RELEASE OF HOOD VERY DIFFICULT. DANGEROUS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY REQUIRING ACCESS TO ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *TR
THE REAR POWER LIFT GATE DOOR ON MY 2010 CADILLAC SRX (23,000 MILES) RECENTLY STARTED CLOSING SUDDENLY ONLY SECONDS AFTER OPENING. DURING THE 2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS STRUCK ON THE BACK OF THE HEAD AND UPPER BACK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD INJURE AN ADULT, OR WORSE - A CHILD! THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE OUT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE LOW BEAM PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LAMP. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALLAST BURNED DUE TO CONDENSATION INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT REPLACING THE BALLAST WAS NOT GOING TO RESOLVE THE FAILURE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A CRACK ON THE SEAL OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY CAUSED THE BALLAST TO BURN. THE SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LIKELIHOOD OF HAVING TO REPLACE THE OTHER HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS VERY HIGH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

FRONT HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT AT ALL; IT IS LIKE DRIVING IN THE DARK. THE HI-BEAMS WORK FINE. I ROUTINELY USE ALL FOUR CARS IN MY HOUSEHOLD (ONE OTHER AMERICAN MAKE, AND TWO ASIAN MAKES), AND OUT OF THE FOUR, THE CADILLAC SRX HEADLIGHTS ARE OF ABSOLUTELY NO USE. THE HEADLIGHT BULBS AREN'T BURNT OUT, BUT THEY PROJECT NEXT TO NO LIGHT. CAR HAS 94,697 MILES ON IT. THE CAR IS USED MOSTLY DURING THE DAY; IF ONE IF US NEEDS TO GO OUT AT NIGHT, WE TAKE ONE OF THE OTHER THREE CARS AS THE SRX IS THE UNSAFE CHOICE. WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS. LOOKS LIKE THERE WERE SOME SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AS MINE AT THE NHTSA WEB SITE. FRONT PASSENGER HEADLIGHT HAS MOISTURE IN HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. AFTER REVIEWING SEVERAL GM/CADILLAC WEBSITES IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SRX OWNERS AND IS ONLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. LIGHT WILL SHORT OUT OVER TIME AND STOP WORKING ACCORDING TO OTHER OWNER REPORTS. VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY PURCHASED AND CURRENT OWNER NOTICED THE ISSUE.
HEADLIGHT WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. UPON CHECKING RIGHT LOW BEAM BULB, LIGHT WAS OUT AND HOUSING HAD HEAVY CONDENSATION.
POOR HEADLIGHT VISIBILITY DUE TO DIM LOW BEAMS AND MOISTURE BUILDUP INSIDE THE LENS. GM DOES NOT CONSIDER IT A SAFETY ISSUE AND THEREFORE HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT.
WATER DRAINING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, POTENTIAL OF DAMAGING ELECTRONICS AND STARTING A FIRE. WATER ALSO CREATED A CARPETING PROBLEM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. GM ISSUED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION BULLETIN, BUT CALIFORNIA WAS EXCLUDED - WHY???? "14225 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION - SUNROOF DRAIN HOSE LEAKS". AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THE 14225 DOCUMENT AND THE PROCESS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE DRAIN TUBE. I WAS ASTONISHED TO SEE THAT CALIFORNIA CARS ARE EXCLUDED FROM THE CAMPAIGN. HOW CAN THIS BE, EVIDENTLY IT DOESN'T RAIN IN CALIFORNIA BUT THE BULLETIN COVERED EUROPE, PUERTO RICO ETC., WHO WOULD PUBLISH A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DOCUMENT EXCLUDING STATES IN WHICH THE SAME CARS WERE PURCHASED, AND WOULD BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM IDENTIFIED IN THE SATISFACTION BULLETIN. AFTER TAKING MY SRX TO THE DEALER IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE DRAIN TUBE AS IDENTIFIED IN THE 14225 BULLETIN WAS THE PROBLEM, THUS ALLOWING WATER FROM THE SUN ROOF DRAIN, TO FLOOD INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. STABILITRAK WARNING COMES ON AND STAYS ON. WHILE ON AND MAKING A SHARP TURN FEELS LIKE THE TIRES ARE TRYING TO GRIP THE ROAD LIKE THERE'S NO TRACTION. THIS HAPPENS ON SUNNY DAYS WITH NO PRECIPITATION. ALSO CAN NOT PICK UP SPEED. THE STABILITRAK WARNINGS BEEN ON NOW FOR 2 WEEKS SINCE THE LAST TIME IT RAINED. I FIND I'M BURNING GAS QUICKER SINCE IT'S ON. ALSO SOMETIMES MY TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR. IT HAPPENS MAINLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND GOES BACK DOWN TO 1ST GEAR BUT WHEN I ACCELERATE IT WON'T SHIFT BACK UP. IT ALSO DROPS BACK INTO FIRST WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED-NOT SLOWING DOWN. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND PUT IN PARK THEN PUT BACK IN DRIVE IN ORDER FOR IT TO SHIFT GEARS. IT'S SCARY WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE I HAVE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER BECAUSE THE RPM'S SHOOT WAY UP AND I DON'T WANT TO DAMAGE THE ENGINE BUT I DON'T WANT TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT EITHER.
