ON 01//24/2012 I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 COBALT ON THE LODGE FREEWAY IN MICHIGAN MY CAR JUST TURN OFF FOR NO REASON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH ,YES I WAS INJURED AND LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR. *JS
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING IN DECEMBER AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TACHOMETER WENT FROM ABOUT 2 TO 0 AND I WAS COASTING TO A STOP. I MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CAR THEN JUST TURNED OFF. 55MPH AND MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF!!! WHEN I WOULD TRY TO RESTART IT WOULD START, BUT THEN TURN OFF AGAIN WHEN I WOULD PUT IT IN GEAR. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 170,000 MILES, BUT ANYTIME I WOULD STOP AT A STOP LIGHT IT WOULD DIE. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE ANYTHING WRONG. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET, BUT THEY SAID THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL TO BE ISSUED. I WAS ALWAYS AFRAID TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BECAUSE OF THE CAR TURNING OFF. I WAS ALSO IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK AND WAS COMING AROUND THE CORNER TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE CAR DIED AGAIN! MIND YOU THIS WAS THE SAME DAY THAT I WAS GOING 55MPH DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR DIED. IT TOOK 11 TRIES TO GET THE CAR TO STAY ON SO THAT I COULD GET IT TO A PARKING PLACE. ONCE I HAD IT IN A PARKING PLACE AND STOPPED, IT DIED AGAIN. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT YOU PEACE OF CRAP CAR PEOPLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUDDENLY BECAME DARK. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT THE FAILURE FURTHER WHEN HE DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE HAD IGNITED IN FLAMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FIRE BEGAN NEAR THE FUEL TANK AREA. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANYTHING), I RECEIVED AN "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" WARNING AND MY CAR'S ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS COMPLETING A TURN IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO SAFETY AND PARK IN A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THE CAR REFUSED TO TURN BACK ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. ONCE IT DID, I DROVE MY CAR TO MY OFFICE AND WAS ABLE TO START IT AND DRIVE IT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. THEN, WITHOUT WARNING IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CLAIMED THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, BUT I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS FROM OTHER OWNERS ONLINE, SO I'M NOT CONVINCED OF THEIR HONESTY OR CONCERN REGARDING THIS MATTER. THEY SAY THEY *THINK* THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE THE MASTER COMPUTER OR AT LEAST THAT IS THEIR "BEST GUESS" (THEIR WORDS, NOT MINE). I WILL BE REPLACING IT LATER THIS WEEK. UNFORTUNATELY, I'M NOT CONFIDENT THE REPAIR WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER GM'S REPEATED AND EXPLICIT DENIAL OF THE POWER STEERING PROBLEM AND HOW LONG IT TOOK THEM TO ADMIT THERE EVEN WAS ONE, I HAVE DECIDED TO APPEAL TO YOU. AT PRESENT, WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR, I AM A DANGER TO MYSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO MIGHT BE AROUND ME ON THE ROAD...AS ARE ALL OTHER COBALT DRIVERS. PLEASE, INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER BEFORE SOMEONE HAS THIS HAPPEN AT THE WRONG PLACE AND THE WRONG TIME AND SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT, OR WORSE. GM KNOWS IT CREATED A CAR WITH A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHICH COULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC FAILURES AND THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT AND FIX IT. JUST BECAUSE THEY STOPPED MAKING THE CAR, DOES NOT ABSOLVE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE THEM SAFE FOR EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ONCE SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT HESITATED AND STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,631.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AFTER THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 174,000.
AFTER HAVING TAKEN MY CAR INTO THE CHEVROLET DEALER FOR A POWER STEERING FAILURE THE CAR ACTED UP AGAIN. THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING MOTOR HOWEVER AFTER ABOUT 1 HOUR OF DRIVING THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED AND THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON THE DISPLAY. THE GAUGES STARTED GOING CRAZY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF AS WELL AS THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT. AT LOWER SPEEDS THERE WAS A CLICKING SOUND FROM UNDER THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION BOX AND THE CAR JERKED WHEN CHANGING GEARS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS DRIVING ON THE FREE WAY AT THOSE SPEEDS CAN LEAD TO FATALITIES. I AM EXTREMELY THANKFUL NOTHING HAPPENED. GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO GET THIS RIGHT AS CLEARLY REPLACING THE POWER STEERING MOTOR IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM! *TR
MY 2005 CHEVY COBALT BEGINS TO SHAKE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION STARTING THROUGH THE FLOOR BOARD AND EVENTUALLY THE WHOLE FRONT END BEGINS TO SHAKE. THE STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY SHAKES FROM FRONT TO BACK(VERSUS SIDE TO SIDE) AND THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL. I ALWAYS HAVE TO PULL OVER OR GET OFF THE FREEWAY. IT FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE FRONT END IS GOING TO FALL APART. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP I CAN CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. THIS BEGAN ALMOST 6 MONTHS AGO. I HAVE HAD MY CAR LOOKED AT SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME I TAKE IT AND SOMEONE TEST DRIVES IT THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. THEY HAVE DONE INSPECTIONS OF BRAKES, TIRES ( REBALANCE AND ROTATE, CHECKED FRONT END ALIGNMENT, CHECKED STEERAGE AND LINKAGE AND THEY FIND NOTHING WRONG. THEY ALSO TELL ME THAT MY CAR IS IN GREAT CONDITION. BUT IT CONTINUES TO SHAKE ALL THE TIME. SOMETIMES IT WON'T HAPPEN FOR A WEEK OR TWO, SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK. . *TR
I WAS DRIVING AND TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED AND ALL MY DASHBOARD GAUGES BEGAN TO DROP DOWN TO ZERO, AS IN IT WOULD NOT REGISTER ANY SPEED, RPMS OR ANYTHING. MY TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK DURING THAT TIME EITHER. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN AND COULD BE DANGEROUS AS IN SWITCHING LANES, OR TRYING TO TURN. *JS

IN JUNE 2012, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING: ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,162. UPDATED 02/20/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER ASSIST FAILS WHILE DRIVING. NO P.S. WARNING LIGHTS EXCEPT WHEN DRIVING. AFTER APPROACH FROM STOP SIGN, WENT TO ACCELERATE, VEHICLE STALLED, DASHBOARD COMPUTER LIGHTS FLASHING, I.E POWER STEERING, BRAKE, MPH, AND PINGING. STARTED VEHICLE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. DIFFICULT STEERING, ACCELERATING NO MORE THAN 30 MPH, AND TRANSMISSION JERKING. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO SHOP 2 TIMES. THE TRANS MODULE WAS REPLACED AUGUST 1, 2012. A DAY AFTER PICK UP, IT HAD THE SAME ISSUES I.E. DIFFICULTY STEERING, UNEXPECTED STALLING, ROUGH LIMITED ACCELERATION, FLASHING COMPUTER LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE AUTO SHOP EMPLOYEE ASSURED ME" IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE AND DO NOT BE AFRAID.." THE SHOP HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR THREE WEEKS. IT WAS WRITTEN ON INVOICE, " CAR DRIVEN FOR 26 MILES TROUBLE FREE HAS POSSIBLE INOP ISSUE, BUT IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED." NINE DAYS AFTER PICKUP THIS VEHICLE STILL REMAINS UNSAFE ON THE ROAD, WITH UNEXPECTED STALLING STOPPING I.E STOP/ GO TRAFFIC, INTERSECTIONS, AND COMPUTER LIGHTS FLASHING ON DASHBOARD. THE TCM /ECM ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE WITH UNEXPECTED STALLING AND DIFFICULTY STEERING AND LOSS OF ACCELERATION. *TR

I NEED TO KNOW IF GM IS GOING TO FIX IT AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN AM I GOING TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR? IN THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2005 COBALT SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE ACCELERATING UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE POWER STEERING FAILURE LASTED UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AFTER REACHING MY DESTINATION. THE NEXT DAY THE POWER STEERING FAILED SUDDENLY AGAIN TWICE AND THE FAILURE WOULD LAST UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF. IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM LISTED IN RECALL #10V073000, BUT ACCORDING TO CHEVY, MY VEHICLE ISN'T ONE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
MY CAR WAS IN THE RECALL FOR POWER STEERING AND I HAD THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE PARTS. I BELIEVE THE RECALL WAS IN 2010. WITHIN THE LAST YEAR I HAD THE POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING IT WAS DOING BEFORE THE RECALL. I LOSE POWER STEERING AND THE CAR JERKS INTERMITTENTLY. THERE IS NO WARNING AND IT HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS. I WAS TOLD TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT SHOULD FIX ITSELF. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR STARTED DOING THE SAME THING TONIGHT. I AM HORRIFIED THAT THIS IS STILL HAPPENING AND FEEL LIKE THE CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AND ESPECIALLY NOT WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I PLAN ON TAKING THIS ISSUE UP WITH CHEVROLET AGAIN, IN THE HOPES THAT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR IT. MY SON WAS DRIVING BACK FROM WORK AT 11:30 P.M. ON A DARK DESERT ROAD WHEN HE CAME UPON A MAN FIXING A TIRE AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS GENTLEMAN'S CAR WAS OUT ONTO THE ROAD A BIT AND THE DPS OFFICERS WERE CALLED BY OTHER DRIVERS SINCE IT WAS A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. MY SON THEN CAME ALONG AND HIT THE CAR WITH THE RIGHT FRONT OF HIS CAR (NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS AT THIS POINT). THEN ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE SITUATION AND ROLLED HIS CAR ONTO THE DESERT FLOOR LANDING ON THE ROOF. STILL NO BAGS DEPLOYED AT THIS TIME. THERE WERE SPARKS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND HE CRAWLED OUT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. AT THAT TIME THE DPS OFFICER WAS AT THE SCENE. HE SUSTAINED SEATBELT BURN TO HIS NECK, ROAD BURN TO ARM, BACK AND CUT FINGER FROM BROKEN GLASS. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES AT ANY GIVEN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 34 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE SPEED DECREASED TO ZERO AND THE TACHOMETER INCREASED TO 4,000 RPMS. THE LOCKS ON THE DOOR STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONTACT STOPPED AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE FAILURE WAS RESOLVED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TOO MANY FAULT CODES TO BE DIAGNOSED PROPERLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
I WAS DRIVER AND THE WHEEL GET STUCK. *TR
ON SEVERAL PRIOR OCCASIONS, THE KEY WOULD BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION. TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, I WOULD SIMPLY SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, CYCLING THROUGH THE GEARS. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE KEY TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. I FIGURED IT WAS A SMALL PROBLEM WITH THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFTER, IT MAY NOT BE FULLY ENGAGING IN PARK. THIS SITUATION CARRIED ON FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO (2) YEARS, WHENEVER NEEDED I WOULD REPEAT THE CYCLING OF GEARS TO DISENGAGE THE KEY. I ASKED WHY THEY DIDN'T SUGGEST THIS AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND WAS NEVER GIVEN AN ANSWER OTHER THAN A REPEATED I SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND IT'S PROBABLY A BAD ECM OR BCM. YOU CAN HEAR A SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN RESISTANCE IS FELT. THE CAR HAD SAFETY RECALL # 10023 REPAIR DONE ON 6/14/2010 AT DUTCH CHEVROLET IN BELFAST, MAINE (REPAIR ORDER 25485). I CALLED CHEVY AND THEY SAID THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS WARRANTED FOR 12 MONTHS OR MILES WHICH EVER CAME FIRST. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY 5/1/12 TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY THE SAME DEALER. THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM CHEVY SAID THEY WILL FOLLOW UP ON THIS HOWEVER THEY DID NOT OFFER TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. BAD ENOUGH THAT THE PROBLEM IS CHRONIC, A REAL SAFETY CONCERN, BUT WORSE YET CHEVY WON'T EVEN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON A RECALL REPAIR. IT TURNED OUT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE ORIGINAL REPAIR OF THE ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST UNIT AFTER ALL. RATHER, THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT U-JOINT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CHARGE WAS SLIGHTLY UNDER $250. AFTER DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM WITH THE WARRANTY DIVISION, THE CONSUMER WAS GIVEN A DISCOUNT OF $150.00. THE CONSUMER NO LONGER WISHED TO PURSUE HIS COMPLAINT. I HAD MY 4 YR OLD NIECE IN THE BACKSEAT AND THE EXIT OF THE PARKING LOT WAS ON A HILL. FEELING THE CAR ROLLING BACK AND NOT BEING ABLE TO BRAKE WOULD SURELY BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. I EXPERIENCED "CATASTROPHIC" BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 CHEVY COBALT LT SEDAN W/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS FORCED TO MAKE A SUDDEN EMERGENCY STOP FROM APPROX 45MPH TO 0. THE ABS SYSTEM WORKED PERFECTLY AS THE ROADS WERE WET AND I DID NOT LOSE CONTROL RESULTING FROM MY SUDDEN STOP, WITH THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL INSTRUMENT LITES ILLUMINATING. HOWEVER UPON QUICKLY TRYING TO RESUME TRAVEL (SINCE I WAS STRADDLING 2 LANES ON THE HIGHWAY) THE BRAKES WOULD NOT "RELEASE" AND FEARING A REAR END COLLISION FROM APPROACHING TRAFFIC, I SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR AND SIMPLY DROVE 15' TO THE SHOULDER, FIGHTING AGAINST THE "GRIP" OF THE BRAKES. ON THE SHOULDER, WITH THE ABS & TC LITES STILL ON, I WAS SAFELY ABLE TO REPEATEDLY SHIFT IN AND OUT OF PARK AND REPEATEDLY PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL FINALLY AFTER APPROX 1MIN THEY RELEASED THEIR GRIP AND THE ABS & TC LITES TURNED OFF ALLOWING ME TO RESUME TRAVEL. I TRAVELED FOR APPROX 10 MIN AT 65MPH W/CRUISE CONTROL, WHEN SUDDENLY AN ALARM SOUNDED WITH THE ABS & TC LITES ILLUMINATING AGAIN. I TRAVELED APPROX 1MI BEFORE EXITING THE HIGHWAY TO INVESTIGATE THE ALARMS AND THEIR MEANING. I ENTERED THE OFF RAMP AT APPROX 60MPH AND ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL SIMPLY WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO PRESSURE! I QUICKLY REPEATED THE ACTION WITH THE SAME RESULT. FEARING A HYDRAULIC LOSS, I BEGAN PUMPING THE BRAKES WITH NO SUCCESS. SIMULTANEOUSLY I DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND HOWEVER DUE TO THE NEAR 60MPH SPEED THIS HAD NO EFFECT AS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT UNTIL REACHING A SAFE RPM LEVEL FOR THAT GEAR. MY FINAL RESORT WAS USING THE PARKING BRAKE WHICH ONLY SLOWED THE CAR TO APPROX 25MPH UNTIL THEY ALSO BECAME INOPERATIVE WITH SMOKE BILLOWING FROM THE REAR WHEELS. I RAN THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, FINALLY STOPPING 1/2 WAY UP THE OPPOSING ON-RAMP, THANKFULLY DUE TO THE SLIGHT INCLINE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON A WELL MAINTAINED ROAD, WITH NO ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS (SUCH AS WIND, RAIN, SNOW), I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING OF MY VEHICLE. I DID NOT HEAR ANY BEEPING, CLICKING, OR ANY NOISES THAT WOULD HAVE INDICATED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG. THE CAR WEAVED ACROSS TWO LANES, AND HIT A GUARDRAIL BEFORE CRASHING FRONT-FIRST INTO A TREE. BOTH AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MAKE IT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN URGENT CARE WHERE X RAYS SHOWED THAT MY SPINE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. I AM CURRENTLY SUFFERING BACK AND NECK PAIN WHICH KEEPS ME FROM ENGAGING IN DAILY ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS PERFORMING MY JOB TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE, YET IT SEEMS THIS VEHICLE IS THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH, AND MY SUBSEQUENT INJURIES. *TR

ON 01//24/2012 I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 COBALT ON THE LODGE FREEWAY IN MICHIGAN MY CAR JUST TURN OFF FOR NO REASON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH ,YES I WAS INJURED AND LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR . *JS
PULLING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE 2 HOURS AFTER I PARKED, AND MY CAR STARTED JERKING FORWARD. THEN I NOTICED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN POWER STEERING STARTING FLASHING ACROSS THE SCREEN THEN MY T/C LIGHT CAME ON. I UT THE CAR OFF, AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES, STARTED IT BACK UP, IT SEEMED FINE, I DROVE 5 FEET AND MY CAR JUMPED FORWARD, I LOST STEERING, POWER STEERING FLASHING IN THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH, THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, AND MY T/C LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR STARTS AND RUNS FINE AT AN IDLE, IF I TRY TO DRIVE IT, IT SHAKES HORRIBLY THEN IT JUMPS FORWARD AND TRIES TO DIE. IF I HAD LET MY DAUGHTER DRIVE, SHE WOULD OF HAD AN ACCIDENT!! AND YET MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THE 2005 STEERING RECALL!! WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE!! I JUST DID SOME RESEARCH, AND A FEW PHONE CALLS TO FIND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL BUT MY 2005 TOTAL ELECTRONIC STEERING IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL WHEN CLEARLY MY CAR IS AFFECTED BY IT. I WANT ANSWERS AND I WANT THEM NOW. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY 2000 TO HAVE SOMETHING FIXED THAT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE DRIVER, BUT THE FAULT OF GM AND THEIR NOT RECOGNIZING ALL THESE VEHICLES HAVE A PROBLEM BUT ONLY SELECT ONES. *TR
WELL DRIVING TO DINNER FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND GOING AROUND A CURVE, I HIT A POTHOLE THAT I COULD NOT AVOID WITHOUT CROSSING THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC CAUSING MY IGNITION SWITCH TO TURN FROM THE ON POSITION TO THE OFF POSITION, MUCH LIKE THE MOST RECENT RECALL STATES. THOUGH I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET THE CAR TO COME TO REST ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, I AM STILL EXTREMELY NERVOUS THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND I AM ALSO VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED TO HEAR THAT THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE THE CAR WAS RELEASED. THIS IS THE THIRD RECALL ON THIS CAR SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT, AND I AM FAR LESS THAN IMPRESSED WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE IS TRULY A DEATH TRAP, MUCH LIKE OTHERS HAVE STATED. MY GREATEST FEAR IS THAT SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY WILL BE DRIVING MY CAR AND NOT RETURN, ALL BECAUSE OF THIS GIANT MESS CREATED BY GM. IT IS VERY DEPRESSING TO KNOW THAT I AM STILL PAYING ON AN EXTREMELY FAULTY VEHICLE, IN WHICH THESE ISSUES WERE KNOWN ABOUT LONG BEFORE I HAD ACTUALLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS, SOMETHING MORE THAN JUST A "SIMPLE" FIX (LIKE ALL THE OTHER RECALLS WITH THIS DEATH TRAP WERE SAID TO BE). IT IS ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER WITH THIS CAR, AND THOUGH SOMETHING SERIOUS HAS YET TO HAPPEN TO ME, I AM CONCERNED FOR THE FUTURE OF OTHERS AND MYSELF. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY COBALT THE TC LIGHT AND POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE STEERING LOCKS ALSO WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF TWO OR THREE TIMES THE CAR WILL BE OK FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THE TACK GAUGES GOES CRAZY WHILE IN PARK PUTTING IT IN GEAR THERE IS A CLICKING IN THE GEAR SHIFTER I FEEL THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER I BROUGHT THE CAR AT AND THE TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND SEND ME ON MY WAY I HAVE HAD IT THREE TIMES IM SCARED TO DRIVE IT ITS SAD YOU PAY ALOT OF MONEY FOR A CAR AND THEY ACT LIKE THERE DON'T CARE. THIS HAS BEEN SINCE THE RECALL ON THE IGNITION WITCH RECALL I FEEL THAT GM NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT. *TR
