FUEL LINE RUPTURE CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK. MECHANIC STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. COST FOR REPAIR $455.53 PLUS CAR RENTAL $ 64.97
THE KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN PARKING CAR AND TURNING VEHICLE OFF PULLING KEY OUT GETS STUCK HAVE TO WIGGLE IT OUT GOT HIT ON DRIVERSIDE FRONT END NO AIRBAGS CAME OUT THE TIME I GOT HIT DRIVER SIDE. IT WAS BECAUSE I TRIED TO STOP AND VEHICLE KEPT ACCELERATING WOULDN'T STOP
FUEL LEAK NEAR DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE FROM ALUMINUM COVERED LINE. LEAKS WHEN THE MOTOR IS RUNNING. FUEL ACCUMULATES UNDER CAR ON TUBING AND DRIPS ON THE GROUND.. WHEN SHUT OFF ONLY ABOUT 1/4 COP IS LOST MASKING THE PROBLEM.
A MAJOR FUEL LEAK WAS DISCOVERED ON THE CAR DURING REFUELING. THE CAR WAS LOANED TO A FAMILY MEMBER, JOHN WILFONG, WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE FUEL SUPPLY LINE HAD MULTIPLE LEAKS DUE TO RUST/CORROSION THROUGH THE LINE. THIS MAY HAVE LED TO A FIRE AND POTENTIALLY LOSS OF LIFE TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. THE CAR HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND WASHED ON A MONTHLY BASIS WITH AN UNDERBODY SPRAY. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY 8 YEARS OLD, RUST LEADING TO A FUEL LEAK IN THIS TIME FRAME IS UNACCEPTABLE. MANUFACTURERS NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THIS HAZARD, I FIXED THE PROBLEM BY PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIR.
CAR IS LEAKING GAS. I NOTICED A FAINT GAS SMELL THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND NOW YOU CAN SMELL IT EVEN IN MY HOUSE. IT'S THAT BAD. THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT FOR SOME REASON, MY VIN DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. MY DAUGHTER AND I HAVE HAD HEADACHES THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND I BELIEVE IT IS FROM THIS GAS LEAK. THIS IS MY ONLY WAY TO WORK AND I PRAY THAT MY DAUGHTER AND I STAY SAFE WHILE I WORK TO GET THIS REPAIRED. GAS LEAKING IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE WEB HAS THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THESE COBALTS HAVING GAS LEAK. I BELIEVE THIS IS A STANDARD PROBLEM ACROSS THE BOARD.
TAKATA RECALL GOT INTO MY 2009 COBALT AND WHEN I TURNED THE KEY, IT DIDN'T START. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, IT CHUGGED A BIT BEFORE IT STARTED AND INSTANTLY HAD A STRONG GAS SMELL. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IN FRONT OF THE BACK WHEEL AND THERE WAS A GAS PUDDLE ABOUT 8" IN DIAMETER AND GAS WAS STILL LEAKING FROM A RUPTURE IN THE GAS LINE. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY COBALT WITH NO EXISTING RECALLS.

WHILE THE CONTACT'S GRANDDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. DON MOORE GM CENTER (270-215-1953, 3232 VILLA POINT, OWENSBORO, KY 42303) CONFIRMED THAT NO RECALLS WERE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SHUTDOWN. I PULLED OVER AND SMELT GAS. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND I NOTICED THE FUEL LINES LEAKING GAS ONTO THE EXHAUST. AFTER LOOKING THE CLOSELY THE FUEL SENDING LINE HAS A HOLE INSIDE THE CLIP, BEHIND THE GAS TANK, HOLDING THE BRAKE LINES.
I STARTED SMELLING GASOLINE WHILE DRIVING. I PARKED THE CAR. I CAME OUT OF MY OFFICE HOURS LATER AND THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE. I DROVE HOME AND WATCHED AS THE FUEL GAUGE WENT DOWN FROM A HALF TANK TO EMPTY IN THE TIME IT TOOK ME TO DRIVE 4 MILES FROM WORK TO HOME (1 MILE IN THE CITY AND 3 ON THE HIGHWAY). THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM BUT MY CAR IS NOT UNDER THE RECALL SERVICE BECAUSE IT IS IN THE WRONG STATE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2009 CHEVROLET COBALTS FOR THIS ISSUE BUT MINE IS NOT A PART OF IT AND SHOULD BE OBVIOUSLY.
ECM PROBLEM. LOST STEERING AND ALL DASHBOARD INFORMATION. VECHILE DOES NOT START.DEALER TELLS ME IT IS A BAD ECM AND IT IS $841.00 TO REPAIR IT. INCLUDING A $250.00 CHARGERE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM THAN I FIND OUT THERE WAS A HUGE RECALL ON THESE ECMS BUT FOR SOME REASON MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED. GM SHOULD MAKE GOOD ON THIS AND REPLAVCE IT AT NO CHARGE SINCE THEY KNOW THEY HAVE HAD HUGE ISSUYES WITH THIS
RUSTED THROUGH AND LEAKING FUEL SUPPLY AND VAPOR LINES. NOTICED GASOLINE SMELL WHILE DRIVING AND PUDDLE UNDER CAR WHEN PARKED IN HOSPITAL PARKING LOT WHERE I WORK. GM IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS RUST PROBLEM AS THEY COATED THE BRAKE LINES TO PREVENT CORROSION. THIS VIN# IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXISTING RECALL FOR THE 2009 COBALT AND AS A RESULT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE CAR WAS PURCHASE WANTED OVER $800 TO REPAIR. PICTURE ATTACHED AND STILL HAVE MOST OF THE RUSTED LINES IF YOU WANT THEM.
MY 2009 CHEVY COBALT AT TIME TO LOOSE ITS POWER STEERING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND ONLY HAPPENS ON OCCASIONS FOR BRIEF PERIODS. I AM READING RECALLS ON 2009 ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN PLEASE BE DONE TO HELP?
CHEVY COBALT IS LEAKING BAD IN REAR DRIVER SIDE IN FRONT OF MY TIRE. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE IN MANY COBALT. CHEVY DID A RECALL BUT FOR SOUTHERN STATE. THEY NEED TO ADD IT FOR ALL THE CARS. OTHER NORTHERN STATE HAVE HAD EXTREME HEAT TOO. SMELL LIKE GAS IN CAR. WHEN STOP DRIVING SEES IT LEAKING.
THE FUEL AND VAPOR LINES ARE RUSTED COMPLETELY OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE COST TO REPAIR IS WELL OVER $1200.00 AND IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT THE CAR IS DRIVEN UNTIL THE REPAIRS ARE FIXED FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF, OTHER DRIVERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AT RAYS AUTOMOTIVE IN JONES, OKLAHOMA DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS AN INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER FURTHER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL AND NOTHING MORE COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
FUEL LEAK AT LEFT REAR WHEEL. FUEL LINE CORRODED AND LEAKING FUEL ON GROUND. FUEL LINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. FUEL LEAK IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION. LEAK WAS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO HOT EXHAUST PIPE. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRED. OWNER REPLACED FUEL PIPE WITH REPLACEMENT PURCHASED AT DEALER. INVOICE ATTACHED.

THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-222-1020 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000. UPDATED 08/16/17*LJ *CN THE CONSUMER STATED INITIALLY ASKED WAS THERE A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE SHIFT SOLENOID, WHICH WAS REPLACED ON 8/8/17 AND 8/10/17 BUT THIS IS STILL A RECURRING PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE IS BACK IN THE SHOP AND THE MECHANIC IS SAYING ITS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. *TR
METAL GAS LINES RUNNING FROM TANK TO ENGINE RUSTED & ROTTED AWAY AT EVERY CLAMP LITERALLY DUMPING FUEL ON THE GROUND
ON 7/27/17 MY DAUGHTERS CAR WOULD NOT START. UPON DIAGNOSIS FOUND THERE WAS NO FUEL PRESSURE. FUSES AND FUEL PUMP RELAY TESTED OK. DIAGNOSED PROBLEM TO BE THE FUEL PUMP. REMOVED FUEL TANK AND PUMP ASSEMBLY AND FOUND ARCING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE PUMP. WHEN TRYING TO DISCONNECT FUEL PUMP FROM WIRING HARNESS IT HAD FUSED TOGETHER. I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, WIRING HARNESS, AND HOSE ASSEMBLY. THIS ARCING INSIDE THE FUEL TANK COULD HAVE CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE, FIRE, AND EVEN DEATH FROM EXPLOSION. I AM ATTACHING PICTURES AND HAVE RETAINED THE COMPONENTS FOR FURTHER EXAMINATION.

SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON ALONG WITH TRACTION LIGHT WHICH APPEARS WHEN ENGINE GETS HOT USUALLY AT AN IDLE. SO WHEN TRACTION LIGHT IS ON & YOUR DRIVING IN NORMAL TRAFFIC, CAR WILL SLOW DOWN AND YOU'LL HAVE TO STEP ON GAS REALLY HARD TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC, IF AND WHEN TRANSMISSION DECIDES TO SHIFT GEARS IT WILL BANG REALLY HARD INTO SECOND GEAR .

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT STRUCK THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE TRUNK OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO THE BACK SEAT APPROXIMATELY FOUR INCHES FROM THE FRONT SEAT. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS BUCKLED INTO THE WINDSHIELD. NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE PASSENGER WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE AND WAS UNCONSCIOUS. THE DRIVER REFUSED MEDICAL TREATMENT, BUT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL LATER BY A FAMILY MEMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JUNK YARD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL IN MAY OF 2014 BY LEVIS CHEVROLET IN SLIDELL, LOUISIANA FOR AN ELECTRICAL REPAIR ON THE IGNITION, WHICH MAY HAVE PREVENTED THE AIR BAGS FROM DEPLOYING ACCORDING TO THE RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD NOT DETERMINED IF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.

I BOUGHT A USED 2009 CHEVY COBALT 2 YEARS AGO IN 2017 WITH 119K MILES. IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A HEADACHE WITH THINGS GOING WRONG! THE BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE CODE P2135 THAT SENDS THE CAR INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND THE ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY. THIS IS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLYWITH 3 YOUNG BOYS IN THE CAR WITH ME. I HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY, ECM, ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY WITH NEW SENSOR, CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSORS, SPARK PLUGS AND SPARK PLUG WIRES. AFTER ALL THESE THINGS I AM OUT OF IDEAS ONWHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING IN BUT ALL THOSE NEW PARTS HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT KEEPS OCCURRING. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS A RECALL OR YOU CAN AT LEAST TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS ABOUT PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR COST WAS NOT AFFORDABLE, SO THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 139,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

EVEN AFTER I PUT ANTIFREEZE IN& FLUIDS FINE. WOULD NOT PASS SMOG FOR 2016 TAGS, HAS 85,000 MILES.P03000 RANDOM MULTIPLE CYLINDERS MISFIRED DETECTED. WAS THEN TOLD NEED A NEW ENGINE FOR 2009 CAR! JUST ABOUT PAID OFF! REPLACED GEAR SHIFT 2YEARS AGO! CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING ALL FLUIDS GOOD AND BATTERY GOOD! ALSO WHEN DRIVING CAR SEAT BELT PASSENGER LIGHT WOULD LITE UP W/NO ONE IN THE SEAT! CALLED CHEVY TOLD MY VIN DOES NOT MATCH TO ANY OF THE RECALLS ON CHEVY VEHICLES DEAL WITH IT!

FUEL PUMP CRACKED AND FRIED. I SAW THIS WAS A RECALL ON 2009 COBALT'S IN SEVERAL STATES BUT CHEVY SAID THAT MY CAR DIDN'T FALL UNDER THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED RANDOMLY GOING ON AND OFF. I NOTICED THAT IT OFTEN OCCURRED WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE INDICATOR OFTEN INDICATED THAT NO ONE WAS SITTING THERE. THEN AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF THIS OCCURRING, THE LIGHT AIRBAG REMAINED ON AT ALL TIMES AND THE INDICATOR STATED THAT NO ONE WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT EVEN WHEN SOMEONE WAS. I THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS THE PASSENGER AIRBAG PRESENCE SENSOR AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ADVISED THAT IT WOULD COST OVER $1,000. SO OBVIOUSLY I TOLD THEM THAT I COULD NOT AFFORD IT AT THIS TIME. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL. I HAVE SEEN AND READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE ON TWO DIFFERENT COBALT FORUMS, THE NHTSA WEBSITE, AND ON VARIOUS OTHER WEB SITES THAT I ACCESSED THROUGH GOOGLE. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURERS PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF CHEVROLET. I AM OBVIOUSLY GOING TO GET THIS FIXED WHEN I GET THE MONEY EVEN WITH OUT A RECALL, BUT I THING THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND I AM WILLING TO LET WHOM EVER USE/LOOK AT MY VEHICLE AS A STARTING POINT. POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL RESET AFTER BEING STARTED AGAIN AND THEN WILL FAIL AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER RUNNING. THERE IS NO PATTERN AS TO WHEN IT WILL STOP WORKING. POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE SITTING STILL, DRIVING, OR TURNING.
WHEN THE VEHICLE SAT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME A STRONG SMELL OF GAS WAS SMELT NEAR THE DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR. A SMALL PUDDLE OF GASOLINE IS VISIBLE WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING AND AFTER IT IS SHUT OFF. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH AND CONTACTING MULTIPLE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IT'S WAS EVIDENT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER THE FUEL RECALL ADMINISTERED BY CHEVROLET. HOWEVER THE LEAK IS CONSISTENT WITH THAT OF THE VEHICLES UNDER THE RECALL.

BEGAN TO SMELL STRONG FUEL SMELL OUTSIDE CAR. CAN SOMETIMES SMELL IT INSIDE CAR. CAR IS A LITTLE SLOW TO START. THIS IS APPARENTLY A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL, AND ALTHOUGH THERE IS A RECALL FOR SOME VINS, MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED.
YOU CAN SMELL GAS AFTER DRIVING THE CAR. IT IS HARD TO START WITH INDICATIONS OF A WEAK FUEL PUMP. WHILE THERE IS A RECALL FOR SOUTHWESTERN STATES GM DOES NOT APPLY THE RECALL TO OTHER STATES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER CHARGES 110$ JUST TO LOOK AT THE CAR. WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET, THE ENGINE OF MY 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT STALLED AND DESPITE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, WOULD NOT RESTART. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND THE CAR HAD BEEN FULLY FUNCTIONING THE ENTIRE WEEK LEADING UP TO THE PROBLEM. IT WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC, I WAS INFORMED THAT NOT ONLY HAD THE FUEL PUMP GONE OUT, BUT IT HAD ALSO BURNED ALMOST ALL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES SURROUNDING THE PUMP. THE ESTIMATED COSTS FOR THIS REPAIR ARE A REAL BURDEN CONSIDERING HOW MUCH OF THE FUEL SYSTEM HAS TO BE REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT AT ONE POINT, PRIOR TO MY OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE, THIS EQUIPMENT WAS RECALLED AND I AM STILL RESEARCHING WHETHER OR NOT THE ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED FOR THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE.

BOTH FUEL LINES IS RUSTED AND CORRODED, LOCATION OF THE RUSTED LINES IS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE, RIGHT BEFORE THE LINES RUN UP TO THE FUEL PUMP.
EPS MOTOR HAS FAILED, I SEE SOME RECALLS ON THIS WHY NOT MINE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE COBALT SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MINE IS NOT IN THE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. *TR

MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S PLUS TIRES ARE "CHUNKING" AND HAVE DRY ROT/CRACKING ON THE TREAD. THE TIRES ARE 3 YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 20K MILES. THEY HAVE BEEN PROPERLY ROTATED EVERY 6K MILES. MICHELIN WILL NOT ACCEPT A WARRANTY CLAIM, AS THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED BY THE VEHICLE'S PREVIOUS OWNER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 61,000.
