The fuel tank failed at the inlet, leaking fuel in major quantities during refueling. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Major quantities of fuel leaked from the vehicle onto the roadway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Currently the vehicle is at a dealership awaiting repair. The parts are on backorder with no expected date. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I don't believe so. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. The problem became apparent during refueling. It began on July 3, 2025. The vehicle has been owned for less than one year and has about 17,801 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power, and failed to exceed 5-8 MPH. The traction control and the check engine warning lights were illuminated after the failure. The contact's wife was able to drive across lanes and pulled over to the right side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with fuel injector failure. The dealer ordered the parts. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,900.
