TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED AN ABNORMAL ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT FOUND AN ANTIFREEZE LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAMPBELL CHEVROLET (2151 SCOTTSVILLE RD, BOWLING GREEN, KY) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED A YEAR LATER. THE SAME DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE COOLANT OUTLET FLANGE AND RECOMMENDED IT BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000.
[XXX] VIN MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT STARTED MAKING A SOUND LIKE THE MOTOR WAS TICKING AND HAD BEEN OVERFILLED WITH OIL ABOUT 6 MONTHS BEFORE BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICEMAN WAITED UNTIL NEXT DAY TO DRIVE THE CAR. WHILE BEING TEST DROVE BY THE SERVICE MAN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED THE WHOLE MOTOR AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR UP. ALL PLASTIC WAS COMPLETELY BURNED. MY INSURANCE MAN WHO WENT TO LOOK AT THE CAR SAID HE COULD NOT TELL IF THE PLASTIC SHIELD ON THE BOTTOM HAD OIL ON IT OR NOT BUT THEY COULD FURTHER INVESTIGATE AND WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND OUT. NOW I HAD INSURANCE FULL COVERAGE ON THE CAR AND I BOUGHT GAP FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR. I AM PAYING A 6.25 INTEREST RATE ON THE CAR WHICH CAME TO 22,740.00 PLUS 3,000.00 DOWN WHEN PURCHASED AND BEEN PAYING FOR 1 YEAR. PAID FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND GAP. I HAVE WAITED OVER A MONTH FOR GM TO INVESTIGATE THIS AND OF TODAY'S DATE THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE NOT COME TO DO THEIR JOB. I AM 64 YEARS OLD AND NEVER DREAMED THAT A LARGE DEALERSHIP COULD OR WOULD DO SOMEONE LIKE THEY HAVE DONE ME. THERE WAS VERY LARGE RECALL ON 2012 CARS AND I DON'T KNOW IF MINE WAS EVER FIXED BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL UNTIL THIS HAPPENED. I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK FOR THE DOWN PAYMENT SO I CAN BUY ANOTHER CAR AND FOR MY CAR TO BE PAID OFF BY THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES WHO OVER FILLED THE CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CAR IT WAS IN THERE PLACE THERE SERVICE MEN WAS DRIVING IT WHEN IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. COOLANT SMELL IN CABIN. MANY OTHER CRUZE OWNERS NOTICING SAME THING. GM HAS YET TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. ONLY HAPPENS ONCE CAR IS AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE. DEALERSHIPS WON'T FIX IT OR DON'T KNOW HOW AND CHEVY REFUSES TO EVEN DIAGNOSE MY CAR AS IT'S OUTSIDE OF THE 36,000 BUMPER TO BUMPER COVERAGE. *TR
I BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY BRAKES 6 MTHS INTO HAVING THE CAR. I NOTICE IT MAKES A LOT OF NOISE AND NOW WHEN I LET UP ON THEM, IT MAKES THE FRONT OF MY CAR POP UP. *TR
NOXIOUS COOLANT SMELL INSIDE VEHICLE WHEN HEATER IS ON. COOLANT SMELL COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN IT IS WARM. THE WATER PUMP HAS BEEN CHANGED, NEXT REPAIR WAS RE ROUTING COOLANT RESERVOIR, NEXT REPAIR WAS MOLD FOUND IN HEATER CORE COMPARTMENT/CLEANED AND DEODERIZER WAS USED, LAST REPAIR WAS HEATER CORE CASE REPLACED. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WITH A LEAKING WATER PUMP AND HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. SEEMS GM IS TRYING DIFFERENT REPAIRS IN HOPES IT WILL BE FIXED. THE PROBLEM DOESN'T,T SEEM TO BE DIAGNOSED. ONLY HAPPENS IN COLD WEATHER MONTHS WITH THE HEATER ON. HEATED AIR FROM THE VENTS SMELL LIKE BURNED COOLANT. VERY IRRITATING TO THE EYES AND THROAT, EYES ARE WATERY AND SWOLLEN, VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE AND DRIVE. THEN SEVERE COUGHING. WE CAN NOT SAFELY DRIVE LONGER THAN 20 MINUTES. MY DEALER TELLS ME THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM YET IS QUICK SEARCH OF THE INTERNET SHOWS MANY DOCUMENTED CASES. THE SMELL OF COOLANT IS IN OUR CLOTHES AND THE FABRIC OF THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. *TR
I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR AN THE CAR WAS JERKY. I THE CAR FINALLY MOVED AND THERE WAS A LOUD BANG FROM THE REAR AND IT FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN HIT IN THE REAR. THE CAR JERKED, SPUTTERED AND THEN STOPPED MOVING. THIS WAS A FEW DAYS AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND TELLING THEM THE CAR WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. THEY FIXED MY BROKEN TRANNY BUT IT STILL DOES NOT DRIVE SAFELY. IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE, THE GEARS GET STUCK MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY IS A NIGHTMARE. ALMOST TWO YEARS TO THE DAY MY CAR IS ONCE AGAIN AT THE DEALER FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING UP A SMALL INCLINE, PUSHED THE GAS THE CAR STRUGGLED TO GO. THERE WAS A LOUD HARSH JERK THE CAR FINALLY MOVED. IT SPUTTERED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR A FAILURE IN WHICH THE VALVE COVER FRACTURED AND CAUSED A LEAK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE VALVE COVER. UPON PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT SANK TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER MORE THAN TWICE AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V360000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) BUT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
STEERING HAS INTERMITTENT ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE WHEEL GETS CAUGHT IN A NOTCH. BESIDES THAT WHEN THIS IS OCCURRING THE ELECTRIC STEERING GETS TWITCHY, AND PULLS 1/8-1/4IN TO THE RIGHT EVERY 10SECONDS OR SO. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY, BUT HAVE READ OTHERS ONLINE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. TOOK MY CAR TO DEALER & THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE. AT 12,000MILES MONTHS BEFORE THIS I STARTED MY CAR & HAD THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE ON THE DRIVERS INFORMATION CENTER ON DASH. TOOK IN AT THAT POINT & WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO STORED CODES & NO ISSUES FOUND. I AM REPORTING THIS AS IT COULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. PASSING A SEMI THE CAR KEPT TWITCHING/PULLING THE 1/8-1/4IN TOWARD THE SEMIS LANE EVERY 10SECONDS. PLEASE MAKE GM FIX THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. *TR
COOLANT SMELL IN CAB, HVAC INTAKE DUCT MOUNTED LESS THAN 6INCHES FROM COOLANT SURGE TANK VENT. IN COLD WEATHER IT SMELL SEEMS WORSE. LOVE THE CAR BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING WITH A 2012 CAR, WITHIN MINUTES OF STARTING TO BREATH THIS POISON I GET CRAMPS IN MY SINUSES & START TO GET A MILD HEADACHE. SQUEAK IN LEFT REAR WHEEL AREA WHEN BRAKING AT AND UNDER 20MPH. DEALER COULDN'T FIND PROBLEM.
ENGINE DOES NOT MAINTAIN ENGINE TEMPERATURE AND CONSEQUENTLY DOES NOT HAVE CONSISTENT HEAT. IT WILL GO FROM 170 DEGREES TO 100 IN LESS THAN 3 BLOCKS. THIS WILL CAUSE THE WINDOWS TO FROST OVER AND LIMIT VISIBILITY. IT HAS BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THE WINTER. IT HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS ABOUT 8 TIMES IN TWO YEARS WITH NO SUCCESS. I ALSO CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER CARE. THEY TOLD ME NOT TO TURN THE HEATER FAN IN PAST LEVEL 2 UNTIL THE ENGINE REACHES OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT RARELY DOES OR HOLDS IT VERY LONG. THIS WINTER IN MN HAS RANGED ALL THE WAY TO -20. REGARDLESS OF TEMPERATURE IT DOES THE SAME THING. MY RESEARCH INDICATES THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE CRUZE AT LEAST SINCE 2011. *TR
DRIVING IN STRAIGHT LINE DOWN HIGHWAY @ +/-50 MPH THE CAR BEGINS TO DRIFT, AS YOU STEER TO CORRECT BACK, THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A FEEL LIKE ITS STUCK OR LOCKED AND GIVES THE FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO FORCE IT BACK TO RELEASE IT. ALMOST FEELS LIKE A DEAD SPOT IN THE STEERING FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM. I STATED TO NOTICE IT OFF AND ON FAINTLY SINCE MAYBE AROUND XMAS AND IT HAS SEEMINGLY BEEN GETTING WORSE AND WORSE HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AND MORE NOTICEABLE. JUST YESTERDAY I EVEN NOTICED FOR THE FIRST TIME THE SAME FEELING WHILE JUST SITTING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. GAVE THE STEERING WHEEL A LITTLE BACK AND FORTH MOTION AND IT REPLICATED THE SAME STUCK FEELING / DEAD STOP IN THE STEERING. JUST DID A LITTLE BIT OF CHECKING ONLINE AND SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON EXPERIENCING THIS SAME THING SO I KNOW THAT IM NOT GOING CRAZY. TRANSMISSION?? I NOTICED WHEN DRIVING FROM ANYWHERE FROM 30-60 MPH, THAT THE CAR DOES NOT SEEM TO SHIFT RIGHT. IT VIOLENTLY SHAKES BEFORE REACHING THE SHIFT POINT AND THE TACHOMETER WILL SURGE BOTH ON CRUISE AND REGULAR ACCELERATION. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3X AND THEY TEST DROVE IT, CONFIRMING THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS THEY DID WERE INCONCLUSIVE. THEY TOLD ME UNLESS THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT REASON OR A LIGHT COMES ON FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE, THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE, BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR. IT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE AND I AM ALMOST SCARED TO DRIVE IT TO MY JOB (AN HOUR AWAY) FOR FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN... WILL IT CATCH ON FIRE, WILL THE TRANSMISSION FALL OUT, ETC??? I'D REALLY LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, SO IT CAN BE FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME THING WITH CRUZES AROUND THAT YEAR, ESPECIALLY WITH TURBO, AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT YOU TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU CAN DO AS AN INVESTIGATION ON THE MATTER. ANTI FREEZE SMELL IN CAR AND HEAD RESTS POP UP BY THEMSELVES.DEALER USED GM FIX TO STOP THE ODOR.IT HELPED BUT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM.DEALER CLAIMED TO HAVE ADJUSTED THE HEADRESTS BUT IT DIDN'T HELP AT ALL.THEY STILL POP UP BY THEMSELVES. *TR
I WAS OUT DRIVING ON OUR WAY HOME ABOUT 1 MILE FROM MY HOUSE,. I SAW STEAM EMIT FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOOD. PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND WALKED AROUND TO THE FRONT OF VEHICLE. THERE WAS A BURNING KIND OF SMELL, OPENED HOOD AND SAW ENGINE OIL ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF ENGINE, PARTS AND UNDERNEATH CAR ALL OVER THE UNDERBODY. ALSO LARGE PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. THE CAR HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE CHEVY DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THERE IT SITS WAITING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. AND THE ESTIMATE AND OUR IF IT IS UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THIS WAS REALLY SCARY ONCE I OPENED THE HOOD AND THE BURNING SMELL WAS BAD. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL RECALLS ON MY CAR THAT I GUESS WE'RE CORRECTED. I'M NOT A MECHANIC. I HAVE KEPT UP ON ALL MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGES WITH THE CAR DEALER. IN FACT I JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE 2 MONTHS AGO BY THE DEALER. YOU KNOW THEY TELL YOU TO USE SYNTHETIC OIL IT WILL LAST THE LONGEST IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I'M STUNNED BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS WOULD HAPPEN SO SUDDENLY. IS THIS RELATED TO ANY RECALLS? *TR
THE CAR SUDDENLY DEVELOPED A STEERING PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IT WILL START TO WANDER, WHEN I GO TO MAKE A SMALL CORRECTION TO REMAIN GOING STRAIGHT THE STEERING IS NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPONSIVE. THE STEERING WHEEL SKIPS BEFORE IT STARTS TO MAKE THE CORRECTION WHICH THEN MAKE THE CAR SLIGHTLY JERK TO ONE DIRECTION OR THE OTHER. IT IS LIKE THE STEERING DOES NOT RESPOND AT FIRST, THIS IS ONLY WHILE I AM DRIVING STRAIGHT. IT SEEMS MORE NOTICEABLE BETWEEN 40-60 MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY THING AND IT IS NORMAL. THIS IS NOT NORMAL IT NEVER DID IT UNTIL A MONTH AGO. *TR
UP TO THIS POINT HIGH PRAISE FOR THE CRUZE IN GENERAL BUT I RECENTLY NOTICED MY 2012 CHEVY CRUZE ECO HAS BEGUN TO HAVE STEERING ISSUES. THIS BEGAN AT AROUND 16000 MILES AND BEGAN SOMETIME AFTER THE OIL PAN RECALL WORK WAS DONE AT THE DEALER . (BUT APPROXIMATELY 6000 MILES AFTER THAT SO I CAN'T DEFINITELY ATTRIBUTE IT TO THAT). TIRE ROTATION WAS RECENTLY PERFORMED AT THE DEALER AS WELL. THE CAR HAS A SLIGHT PULL IN ONE DIRECTION AND WHEN THE STEERING IS CORRECTED THERE IS A PERCEPTIBLE "JERK" TO THE OTHER DIRECTION. SIMILAR TO A STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR SYMPTOM I HAD ON AN OLDER VEHICLE. FEELS LIKE THE POWER STEERING "SKIPS" OR HAS A DEAD SPOT. L LOOKED THIS UP BEFORE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AND SAW MANY OTHERS HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE SO I THOUGHT I'D FILE A COMMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE SMELLED LIKE BURNING PLASTIC AND THE WINDOWS ON THE VEHICLE FOGGED UP. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES BEFORE THEY WERE ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE HEATING CORE CAUSED THE FOG. THE HEATING COIL WAS REPLACED BUT THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE THEN SMELLED OF BURNING COOLANT AND PLASTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,900.
12/13/12 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND VEHICLE HESITATES ON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP. THEY REPLACED THE FAILED TURBO CHARGER ASSEMBLY. REPLACED VALVES INSIDE HEAD. 03/21/2013 - ERROR MESSAGE "A/C OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP" . REPLACED A/C COMPRESSOR. 12/13/13- WATER PUMP LEAKING REPLACED WATER PUMP AND COOLANT. 08/29/2014 - "ENGINE OVERHEATED - IDLE ENGINE" ERROR MESSAGE "A/C OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP" DEALER FIXED RECALL LOW COOLANT LEVEL. 10/15/14- CAR HAVING POWER ISSUES NEEDS TO BE JUMP-STARTED. AFTER LOOKING AT THE CAR THEY MADE ME PAY $89.95 TO REPLACE BATTERY. 11/03/14 - "ENGINE OVEHEATED-IDLE ENGINE" "A/C OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP" "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" . THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND LOSING POWER HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE EQUIPPED WITH FIRESTONE TIRES, SIZE: P215/60R16, LINE: FR710. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, HE NOTICED BUBBLES ON THE SIDEWALL OF ALL FOUR TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE TIRE WAS 7,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE STEERING STICKS. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM SINCE YOU HAVE TO OVERCORRECT WHEN IT RELEASES. THIS HAPPENS AROUND 60-70 MPH. THE CAR ONLY HAS 4000 MILES. *TR

FROM THE FIRST DAY OF PURCHASE, THE CONSUMER NOTICED A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL BECAME PROGRESSIVELY STRONGER AND STRONGER. THE FURTHER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN, THE STRONGER THE BURNING ODOR BECAME. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE, FOR A DIFFERENT YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE WAS EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM HOWEVER, HE WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE PUSH-TO-START FEATURE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED AND THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT READ THE KEY WHILE IT WAS IN THE TRUNK BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH THE ONSTAR SYSTEM THAT WAS ABLE TO PERFORM THAT FUNCTION. I TOOK MY 2012 CHEVY CRUZE ECO IN FOR OIL CHANGE TIRE ROTATION, AND OIL SPILL RECALL, THE RECALL REQUIRES CUTTING AWAY PART OF THE SHIELD UNDERNEATH THE MOTOR. SOMETIMES IF THE FUEL GOES BELOW HALF A TANK IT READS EMPTY FOR A FEW DAYS OR A WEEK, EVEN IF I FILL UP THE TANK IT STILL READS EMPTY. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY ON LONG TRIPS AND I HAVE A LONG COMMUTE IN AND OUT OF DIFFERENT CITIES. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CAR AT 1100 MILES WHEN I GOT IT. AUG 2018 RECENTLY, THE CAR HAS DASH WARNINGS THAT STATE "AC OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP" EVEN WHEN IT IS 30 DEGREES OUT. THE TEMP GAUGE WILL ALSO DROP TO COLD. WE HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE THERMOSTAT MULTIPLE TIMES AS WELL. THIS CAR IS BEYOND A LEMON. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS CAR FROM DAY 1. AND WHAT IS MORE RIDICULOUS IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT STAND BEHIND IT. I HAVE SERVICE RECORDS DOCUMENTING THE COMPLAINTS OF THE ISSUES AND THE DEALERSHIP "NOT FINDING ANYTHING WRONG" OR "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE ISSUES". WE HAVE GIVEN UP WITH CHEVY AND ALSO WITH KOCOUREK CHEVROLET IN WAUSAU. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN ONGOING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR SEPTEMBER 2012.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. WHILE DRIVING ON AN INCLINE, THE CONTACT HAD TO KEEP THE CLUTCH PEDAL DEPRESSED IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STALLING. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ALSO HAD TO REMAIN DEPRESSED TO MAINTAIN ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN ONCE, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. IN ADDITION, THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEAT WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
TO BEGIN WITH,I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2012 CHEVY CRUZE AND HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUNAROUND. MY FIRST CONCERN IS THAT I BOUGHT MY 2012 CHEVY CRUZE ON 09/18/2012 AND WAS NOTIFIED DAYS LATER OF A MAJOR SAFETY RECALL ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF ENGINE FIRES FROM FLUID SPILLS. I FIND OUT THAT THIS RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED ON 06/22/12.(NHTSA CAMPAIGN #:12V288000) WHY WAS I SOLD A VEHICLE THAT WAS UNDER RECALL FOR 3 MONTHS? AND WAS NEVER EVEN MENTIONED PRIOR OR POST SALE. ONSTAR HAD TO NOTIFY ME AND THEN I HAD TO GET IT FIXED. MY SECOND CONCERN IS THAT THERE IS AN COOLANT SMELL IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE AND ALTHOUGH NOT ALWAYS NOTICEABLE, IT IS MORE NOTICEABLE IN COLDER WEATHER. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY PLAYED STUPID AND SAID THEY DON'T SMELL ANYTHING AND THAT THE SMELL COULD BE A "DIRTY CABIN AIR-FILTER"? NOBODY WANTS TO SMELL COOLANT WHEN DRIVING!! MY THIRD CONCERN IS THAT WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP OR ACCELERATING AFTER LETTING OFF THE GAS FOR A SECOND THE VEHICLE ALMOST ALWAYS SHIFTS ROUGHLY. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT ITS PROBABLY JUST THE "TURBO KICKING IN". MY FOURTH CONCERN IS ABOUT THE RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN #:12V288000) MY VEHICLE(WHERE THE ENGINE SHIELD WAS) IS ALREADY RUSTING AND IS A VERY BIG CONCERN WITH THE FUTURE OF MY VEHICLE(EVEN AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD) RUST NEVER GOES WELL WITH A VEHICLE! I'M CONCERNED THAT PARTS WILL WEAR PREMATURELY BECAUSE OF THIS! NOT TO MENTION THAT I AM GETTING LESS MPG SINCE THE SHIELDS BEEN REMOVED. NOW TODAY I GET ANOTHER MAJOR SAFETY RECALL ABOUT MY BRAKES.(NHTSA CAMPAIGN #:13V360000) WHICH WOULD EXPLAIN WHY MY BRAKES SOMETIMES REQUIRE ME TO PRESS THEM REALLY HARD ALL THE WAY DOWN TO STOP IT. IT CURRENTLY SITS AT AROUND 26,000 MILES, I AM THUS FAR VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE VEHICLE. I'VE WENT THROUGH 7 TURBOS, I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW. IM NOW HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHO REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE SINCE THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT AUTHORIZE THEM TO DO SO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800.
CAR RESPONDS ERRATICALLY AND UNPREDICTABLY TO PUSH ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ON ABOVE DATE IN ATTEMPTING TO BACK UP SLOWLY ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS PUSHED WITH DELAYED RESPONSE, THEN FOLLOWED BY EXTREME MOTION BACKWARD HITTING FENCE, DAMAGING FENDER. AT OTHER TIMES CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE OUT OF WAY OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC CAUSING NEAR COLLISIONS WITH LITTLE OR NO RESPONSE TO PEDAL MOVEMENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THIS SIX MONTH OLD CAR. MY FRIEND HAS SAME MODEL WITH SAME PROBLEM. AS PER CHEVY SERVICE MANAGER WHO WAS TWICE CONTACTED ON THIS: A) HE TOOK A NEW CRUZE HOME TO DRIVE FOR SEVERAL DAYS TO INVESTIGATE THIS COMPLAINT FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS AND HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, B) SAME PROBLEMS ARE BEING REPORTED TO OTHER CHEVY DEALERS IN HOT CLIMATE AREAS OF COUNTRY. CHEVY SERVICE MANAGER SAYS PROBLEM IS KNOW TO GENERAL MOTORS, BUT NO FIX IS AVAILABLE - ALL TESTS ON SEVERAL OTHER NEW CRUZE MODELS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE WITH SAME PROBLEM SHOW THAT ALL SYSTEMS AND ELECTRONICS ARE WORKING NORMALLY. HE'S NOT SURE WHAT GENERAL MOTORS WILL DO ABOUT IT. THIS IS APPARENTLY A MAKE/MODEL SPECIFIC PROBLEM THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED AS NO PRO-ACTIVE WARNING INFO HAS BEEN RECEIVED BY US FROM GENERAL MOTORS OR THE CHEVY DEALER. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NO ONE IS TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000.

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE ACCELERATOR FAILED TO RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT AFTER 16,000 MILES THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,100.
I RECEIVED MY CHEVY CRUZE LS IN AUGUST OF 2012 AFTER HAVING IT FOR A WEEK I STARTED TO NOTICE ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I DROVE IT UP NORTH AND AFTER BEING ON THE FREEWAY GOING A CONSTANT SPEED OF 75 MPH, WHEN FORCED TO SLOW DOWN DUE TO TRAFFIC THE CAR COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO AND JUST HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. THE RPMS WOULD SHOOT UP VERY HIGH AND THE CAR WOULD STRUGGLE TO ACCELERATE (ALMOST AS IF IT WERE STUCK IN NEUTRAL) AND EVENTUALLY IT WOULD JERK FORWARD VERY HARD AND THEN ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I GET ON THE FREEWAY NOW AND HAVE TO SLOW DOWN BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC OR SLOW DOWN TO GET OFF AT THE EXIT (AND CONTINUES WELL AFTER BEING OFF THE FREEWAY). I AM LUCKY I HAVEN'T BEEN REAR ENDED AND SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED. I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS NOW AND ITS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE, IT NOW DOES THE SAME THING WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT 30 MPH, IT WILL BE GOING ALONG JUST FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE REVS AS IF IT WERE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN CATCHES ITSELF AND JERKS REALLY HARD AND IS FINE AGAIN. ALSO WHEN SLOWING DOWN IT SEEMS TO DOWNSHIFT TOO QUICKLY ALMOST COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ON ITS OWN, WHICH IS WHY I AM AFRAID OF BEING REAR ENDED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN TO 5 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND AM TOLD EVERY TIME THAT EITHER THEY DON'T SEE THE PROBLEM AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT OR THEY CAN SEE THERE'S A PROBLEM BUT THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THIS CAR, I'VE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE RADIO AND MY USB CORD NOT CONNECTING TO MY PHONE AND EVEN WHEN IT DOES CONNECT THE SONGS COME THROUGH WITH LOTS OF STATIC. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT CORDS, DIFFERENT PHONES AND MULTIPLE IPODS AND IT KEEPS HAPPENING. I FEEL TOTALLY HELPLESS AND AM SICK OF FEELING UNSAFE IN MY CAR. MY FAMILY HAS ALWAYS BOUGHT GM CARS, THIS IS MY SECOND CHEVY AND MY LAST!! *TR
