WHILE DRIVING THE RADIO AND OTHER INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF. NOW ALONG WITH THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, THE SERVICE STABILTRAC IS ON AND IT WILL LOOSE STEERING ASSIST AT TIMES. TODAY IT STARTED DYING WHEN TAKING OFF AND AT INTERSECTIONS.I HAVE SPOKEN TO A FEW DIFFRENT TECHS AND A COUPLE DIFFRENT SHOPS ON THIS MATTER AND NOBODY HAS ANY ANSWERS AS TO WHAT IT IS THEY ALL HAVE SAID THAT THEY HAVE SEVERAL DOING THE SAME THING AND CAN NOT FIGURE THEM OUT.
OVERHEATING. LOUD NOISE IN ENGINE WITH LOSS OF POWER THAT WE DETERMINED TO BE THE TURBO. CARS BREAKS HAVE BEEN CHANGED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. CONSISTENT WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH. THE CAR HAS A VERY LOUD RATTLING SOUND WHEN DRIVING. IT ISN'T AS LOUND WHEN SITTING STILL AT A REDLIGHT.
THREE TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN 5-1/2 YEARS, WITH TOTAL MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY 45,000..ALL THREE FAILURES OCCURRED ON INTERSTATES, RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER & DRIVABILITY CAUSING IMMEDIATE AND SEVERE DANGER OF HIGH-SPEED COLLISION FORM OTHER TRAFFIC. FIRST FAILURE IN APRIL 2013 AFTER 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, UNDER 1,500 MILES. CLUTCH PLATE DISINTEGRATED. PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT OF THE TRANSMISSIOM; CAR WAS REPAIRED BY GM (NOT REPLACED). IN MAY 2014 COMPLAINED TO DEALER (HAWK CHEVROLET OF BRIDGEVIEW) OF PROBLEMS WITH CLUTCH - THAT IT WAS FALLING TO THE FLOOR, THERE WAS DIFFICULTY SHIFTING. DEALER CLAIMED TO BE UNABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEM. COMPLAIMED OF SAME PROBLEM IN OCTOBER 2014 (GM CASE 71-1379518666); AGAIN DEALER "UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM". 2ND FAILURE OCCURRED AUGUST 2015; CLUTCH PLATE WAS STUCK TO TRANSAXLE. MILEAGE WAS 14,500. GM CASE #8-1545250753. GM TRIED TO ATTRIBUTE FAILURE TO "NORMAL WEAR". ULTIMATE COVERED THE REPAIR BUT REFUSED TO ADMIT ANY DEFECT. 3RD FAILURE OCCURRED MARCH 9, 2018. AGAIN, CLUTCH PEDAL FELL TO FLOOR AND CAR BECAME UNDRIVABLE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER. GM CASE #8-4000371239.
BELT TENSIONER BOLT CAME OUT AND IS NOW STUCK IN A SPRING IN THE ENGINE..THE LIGHT ON MY RADIO FADES IN AND OUT.. ROTOR ON DRIVERS SIDE HAD DEFORMITY TO IT .STILL HAVE THE ROTOR AND THE SPRING IS STILL STUCK IN ENGINE I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT FIXED
I HAVE TO PUSH HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BRAKE ON TIME OR BRAKE AT ALL. TO NOT REAR END THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACT AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE I HAVE REGARDING THE 2012 CHEVY CRUZE I BOUGHT ON APRIL 26TH, 2015 WITH APPROXIMATELY 29,000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS PURCHASED THROUGH CARMAX. AS OF THIS TIME MY CAR HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT. ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 18TH WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY SUDDENLY, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE FASTER THAN 25MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE 'D' FOR DRIVE STARTED FLASHING AT ME. IT TURNS OUT THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
THE CAR WAS MOVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, 'AC OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE'- FANS KICKED ON AND RAN NON STOP. COOLANT WAS ADDED IMMEDIATELY ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE HEAD CRACKED- THE COOLANT WAS RUNNING INTO THE OIL. THIS CAR WAS NOT VERY OLD AND IT FOR NO REASON SHOULD HAVE CRACKED. I THINK IT IS IN RELATION TO RECALL CAMPAIGN 12081.
THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT HOLD THE CAR IT WILL ROLL BACKWARD WHEN ON AN SLIGHT INCLINE. WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK I WAS SLOWING TO CROSS A SET OF TRAIN TRACKS ON A STATE HIGHWAY IN A SMALL TOWN AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE TRACKS. I AM UNSURE OF THE NAME OF THE PART THAT IS BROKEN. AFTER TALKING TO MANY MANY TRANSMISSION SPECIALISTS I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY. IT SEEMS THE EXACT SAME THING THAT RECALL 14234 WAS ISSUED FOR HAS ALSO EFFECTED THE CRUZE. I DID HAVE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME.
SINCE NOVEMBER 2016 AT 56,000 MILES THE CAR HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY OVERHEATING. THE ENGINE COOLANT FLANGE, WATER PUMP, AND THERMOSTAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED 2XS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAR FLASHES SPORADIC MESSAGES SUCH AS A/C OFF HIGH ENGINE HEAT, SERVICE STABILITRAK, CHANGE OIL, ETC. THE CAR ALSO HAS STARTED LEAKING OIL. FINALLY ON FEBRUARY 10TH, 2018 THE CAR HAD THESE SAME ISSUES AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE ENGINE WENT ENTIRELY. THE CAR HAD TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE AT 83,500 MILES AND NOW REQUIRES A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS THE WORST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. UPON GOING ONLINE EVERYONE HAS THESE SAME EXACT ISSUES SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHY MASSIVE RECALLS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE.
WITH HEATER AND FAN ON, NAUSEATING ODOR IS EMITTED FROM THE VENTS. THE ODOR SMELLS LIKE ANTI-FREEZE. THIS ODOR CANNOT BE SAFE TO BE INHALING.
CATALAYIC CONVERTER PLUGGED AT 82000 MILES WHICH CAUSED ENGINE KNOCK NOISE
AT 45K MILES HAD GAS CAP MESSAGE A COUPLE OF TIMES. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHICH WAS $1000. I FEEL AT 45K (RURAL TOWN DRIVING) THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME DEFECT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY MANUFACTURE PROBLEMS WITH THE MANIFOLD ON CHEVY CRUZE 2012. ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE TRYING TO DIE RIGHT BEFORE TAKING IT TO DEALER.
HVAC DOOR ACTUATOR DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY. CAR WILL NOT BLOW AIR ON TO THE WINDSHIELD TO DEFROST THE WINDOW. RESULTS IN POOR TO NO VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING DUE TO INTERIOR FOG ON THE WINDOWS AND SPRAY FROM OTHER TRAFFIC FREEZING TO THE WINDSHIELD.
CAR RANDOMLY DISPLAYING SERVICE STABILITRAX AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASH RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF. SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE AT STOPS BUT SOMETIMES WHEN MOVING ALSO. STARTED WITH RADIO TURNING ON AND OFF ONLY BUT NOW INCLUDES THE OTHER ALSO. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR ABOUT A MONTH.
I WAS DRIVING IN A RAINSTORM AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WINDSHEILD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO PEOPLE!!!
MY HUSBAND HAS REALIZED THAT MY CAR IS LEAKING OIL AND HE CAN NOT FIND WHERE IT IS COMING FROM DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER. HE WAS CHANGING THE OIL WHEN HE FOUND THIS.
MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAD STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY NO MOVEMENT AT ALL, THEY WERE MAKING A NOISE WHENEVER YOU TOGGLED THE WIPER CONTROL INSIDE THE CAR. SO I MAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR JAN 5TH, 2018 SO THAT IT COULD BE LOOKED AT AND FIXED. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TRANSMISSION THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN WHICH I KNEW I HAD BEEN RESEARCHING BEFORE HAND NEEDED TO BE SURE . AUTO SHOP TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE $149 FOR THE PART THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE LABOR AND, THEN SHE SAID NO IT WOULD BE $74.00 FOR PART AND I TOLD THEM TO GO AHEAD. THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO ORDER THE PART AND IT MAY NOT BE THERE THAT DAY. SO I THEN MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM MONDAY JANUARY 8,2018 WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE PART DROPPED MY CAR OFF ON THAT SUNDAY JANUARY 7,2018 AND THEY CALLED ME MONDAY@9:30 TELLING ME MY CAR WAS READY SO I PICKED IT UP AFTER WORK.. SKIP FORWARD TO FRIDAY JANUARY 12,2018 I GET READY TO LEAVE FOR WORK AND GO OUTSIDE I CLEAR MY CAR OFF AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS AREN'T WORKING.. I SPRAY DE-ICER ON THEM PUT MY DEFROST ON REMOVE ICE AND ALL AND THEY ARE NOT WORKING... IT HAS ONLY BEEN 3 DAYS THAT I'VE HAD MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TRANSMISSION REPAIRED AND I'M STILL HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE.... I NEED ANSWERS.

FURTHERMORE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S MANUAL TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AFTER IT WAS ENGAGED IN THIRD GEAR. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHEN NECESSARY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. AUTONATION CHEVROLET LAUREL (500 WASHINGTON BLVD, LAUREL, MARYLAND 20707, (240) 294-5149) REQUESTED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC BE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,560.
THE CAR SAYS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER "ENGINE LOOSES POWER" AND TO "SERVICE STABILITRAC." THEN I LOOSE ACCELERATION. I HAVE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER SHUT THE CAR DOWN AND RESTART. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN ON THE FREEWAY WHICH IS SUPER SCARY. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME DRIVE.
HELLO, MY 2012 CHEVY CRUZE LTZ'S KEY FOB ISN'T BEING DETECTED BY MY VEHICLE. I'VE LOOKED IT UP AND ASKED AROUND AND EITHER NOBODY'S HEARD OF THE ISSUE OR DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT IT'S PAINSTAKING WHEN I CAN'T EVEN USE THE KEY FOB ONE MINUTE AND THEN THE NEXT IT WORKS FINE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STATIONARY SINCE THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURED.

THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON ONE EVENING AND WITH A MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE STABILTRACK. I DID GET THE CAR HOME. NEXT MORNING, STARTED THE CAR, WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION NEAR MY HOME WHEN THE ENGINE LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME BY TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING IT, BUT IN TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP, WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ANY ACCELERATION AND HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED FROM MY DRIVEWAY. DIAGNOSTICS REVEALED THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE SENSOR CLEARED. WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS ISSUE FROM GM. THIS IS A CAR WITH 41,000 MILES ON IT.
ENGINE LOSS OF POWER AND STABILITY AND TRACTION CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 5MPH CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE ON HIGHWAY.
"TAKATA RECALL" I AM THE OWNER OF A 2012 CHEVY CRUZE AND IT ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES THIS IN WHICH THE TRANSMISSION HAS WENT OUT. IT STARTED OF DOWN SHIFTING HARD WHEN TAKING OFF AND JERKING. AS I SEARCHED ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE CARS
WHEN STARTING MY CAR, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS START GOING ALONG WITH WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID COMING OUT, MY FOUR WAYS START BLINKING, AND MY TRUNK OPENS UP AND WILL NOT SHUT. I HAVE NOT TOUCHED ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE ANY OF THIS TO HAPPEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT PUTS ME IN A HUGE INCONVENIENCE. I WAS DRIVING TODAY AND IT'S 14 DEGREES OUTSIDE, YET MY CAR STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND A WARNING CAME UP ON MY DASH SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT THE A/C BEING SHUT OFF DUE TO OVERHEATING.... WHY WOULD I BE USING MY A/C AT ALL?
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWNHILL FROM FLAGSTAFF TO PHOENIX, ARIZONA, I NOTICED MY CAR WASN'T ACCELERATING THE WAY IT SHOULD. SO, I WAS DRIVING FROM A 7000 FEET ELEVATION TO A 2000 FEET ELEVATION ON STEEP HILLS NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY I DIDN'T HAVE FULL CONTROL OVER MY CAR. IT WAS SCARY TO SAY THE LEAST. I BROUGHT MY CAR TO MY CHEVY DEALER 3 TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY DID THIS AND IT FINALLY GAVE OUT ON ME 2 DAYS AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. I WENT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES TO FIX THE ISSUE UNTIL MY TRANSMISSION FINALLY DECIDED TO GIVE OUT ON ME. AND NOW CHEVY IS SAYING THAT THEY CAN'T HELP ME AT ALL.
WHILE DRIVING, ON AT LEAST FOUR OCCASIONS, I HAVE LOST POWER COMPLETELY, CAUSING ALL ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONINGS TO STOP, MAKING ME LOSE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, CAUSING MY LIGHTS TO SHUT OFF, AND ALL OTHER FUNCTIONALITIES OF THE CAR, BESIDES STEERING AND USING INERTIA, RESULTING IN PULLING OVER WITHOUT ENDANGERING MYSELF OR OTHER DRIVERS. THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE A SKIPPING OR JUMPING INVOLVING THE FUEL INJECTION WHEN ACCELERATING, WHICH MAKES SPEED REGULATION IRREGULAR, SPORADIC, AND DOES NOT ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MAKE ACCURATE JUDGEMENTS ON THE CARS CAPABILITIES CONCERNING TIMING AND DISTANCE TO OTHER DRIVERS. RECENTLY, I WAS IN MOTION DRIVING THROUGH CHATANOOGA, TN, WHERE IT IS MOUNTAINOUS AND HAS STEEP HILLS, DURING NIGHTTIME, SO VISIBILITY WAS LESSENED, AND DANGER, DUE TO THE TYPE OF ROAD IT WAS, WAS INCREASED. WHILE GOING DOWNHILL, LUCKILY, WITH OTHER CARS AROUND ME TRAVELING AT 70 MPH, MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF, COMPLETELY. I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, MY LIGHTS SHUT OFF, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH THE CARS AROUND ME. LUCKILY, I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT ANY DAMAGES. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN, ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO, AT A STOP LIGHT. I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, MY CAR SHUT OFF, I HAD TO COAST OFF OF THE ROAD, LOST ALL ACCELERATION, AND AGAIN ALMOST WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.
ALL HVAC FUNCTIONS WORKING EXCEPT DEFROSTER (WINDSHIELD) NOT FUNCTIONING. SNOW AND ICE WON'T THAW
"TRANSMISSION DEFECT" A YEAR AGO I BROUGHT MY 2012 CHEVY, CRUZE TO BE INSPECTED FOR STALLING PROBLEMS (HESITATES) WHEN INCREASE IN SPEED AND JERKS ESPECIALLY DRIVING UP A HILL. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TO INDICATE WHY IT WAS HESITATING WHEN DRIVING. MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND CODE INDICATING ANY PROBLEM WITH THE TRANS. TODAY, I'M WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN A WEEK BECAUSE MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AS I WAS DRIVING. GENERAL MOTORS IS ONLY WILLING TO PAY A THIRD OF THE COST TO GET IT REPAIRED. I WANT RESTITUTION.I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I WARNED THEM ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN I STILL HAD A WARRANTY AT THE TIME. IF A MECHANIC DOESN'T SEE A CODE READING, IT DOES NOT JUSTIFY CHARGING THE CUSTOMER AFTER THE COMPLAINT WAS REPORTED. I HAVE RECEIPTS SHOWING PROOF OF DOCUMENTATION INDICATING WHAT I WAS BRINGING IT A YEAR AGO. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINT, REGARDLESS CODES NOT READING.
AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE LIKE 8 TO 10 MILES STOPPING FOR A LITTLE WHILE AT A DRIVE THROW AND THE CAR FAN CAME ON AND THE CAR TEMPERATURE GAGE ISN'T EVEN HALF WAY ON THE GAGE AND THE FAN COMES ON. THE CAR HEATER IS BLOWING COOL AIR INSTEAD OF HEAT BUT WHEN DRIVING OR RAMEN THE ENGINE A LITTLE HEAT STARTS WORKING

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE WHEN CHANGING GEARS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND STABILIK SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE CAR AND REPLACED A CONNECTOR. NOW, THE CAR GEARS DON'T WORK. MISDIAGNOSIS.
ENGINE COOLANT LEAKED FROM THE WATER PUMP WHILE DRIVING. THE PUMP LEAKED, LEADING TO A DRIP OF COOLANT ONTO THE ENGINE AND ONTO THE GROUND. OVER TIME, THE LOSS OF COOLANT REDUCED COOLING PERFORMANCE AND EVENTUALLY LEAD TO ENGINE OVERHEATING. THE 'SERVICE ENGINE' INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON, AN 'ENGINE HOT, AC OFF' MESSAGE APPEARED, A CHIME THEN THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. ALL THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE NOSE THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED, BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
THIS CAR HAS HAD ISSUES SINCE WE PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW IN 2012. DOES NOT ACCELERATE WHEN MERGING ON FREEWAY OR TRYING TO PICK UP SPEED. IT PUTS THE DRIVER AT A VERY HIGH RISK OF AN ACCIDENT. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR MY DAUGHTER TO ATTEND COLLEGE AND SHE FEELS VERY UNSAFE. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND TAKEN INTO SHOP SEVERAL TIME FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND LOUD SHAKING NOISE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A NIGHTMARE AND SEEM TO THINK BASED ON REVIEWS THAT THESE CARS FALL INTO THE LEMON CATEGORY. WE WILL BE TAKING IT TO A VERY RELIABLE MECHANIC THIS WEEK AND WILL WAIT TO SEE WHAT THEY FIND.
WHEN DRIVING( IN ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS) THE CAR WILL LOOSE ENGINE POWER DROP TO AROUND 5MPH, IS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND HAVE TO BE PULLED OVER. RE/CEIVE WARNINGS STATING "ENGINE POWER REDUCED", "SERVICE STABILITRAK" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHERS. PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING THE CAR USUALLY CORRECTS THE PROBLEM BUT IT IS TERRIFYING WHEN TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED, OR ANY SPEED REALLY! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. FORTUNATELY, THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED ON LOCAL CITY STREETS ( SO FAR!) BUT I CAN'T IMAGINE IT HAPPENING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IN DOING RESEARCH ONLINE THERE ARE A GREAT NUMBER OF OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. HOW IS THIS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE WARRANTING A MASSIVE RECALL? IN READING MANY FORUMS, GM IS CLEARLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT APPARENTLY HAS NO DEFINITIVE WAY TO FIX IT AS MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD VARIOUS PARTS REPLACED( MOSTLY RELATED THROTTLE OR ACCELERATOR PEDAL) WITH THE PROBLEM NOT BEING RESOLVED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND WAS TOWED TO CHAMPION CHEVROLET CADILLAC (36006 BRISTOL HWY, JOHNSON CITY, TN 37601) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $500 FOR ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 8-356-5888446. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED IN 2014 AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND MY CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER. THE ENGINE REDUCED POWER AND SERVICE STABILITRAK MESSAGES CAME UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I GOT OF THE INTERSTATE AND PUTTED ALONG, BARELY ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT STOP LIGHTS, UNTIL I MADE IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEY DON'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AND I'LL PROBABLY END UP DOING A TRIAL AND ERROR WITH SENSORS AND THROTTLES. A FEW WEEKS AGO A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL ROAD (25MPH), BUT EVERYTHING TURNED OFF (DASH, A/C, RADIO, DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER, ETC) AND MY CAR POWERED OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN CAME BACK ON AGAIN. THIS IS SERIOUSLY A SCARY PROBLEM TO HAVE.
WHEN YOU TURN THE DIAL TO USE THE WIPERS. IT DOES NOT WORK. YOU CAN PUSH IT, TO SPRAY THE WIPER FLUID, BUT THE WIPERS DONT MOVE. MY VECHILE ONLY HAS 51000 MILES ON IT.
I HAVE A 2012 CHEVY CRUZE LT, IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 75K AND I'VE ONLY HAD IT FOR 2 YEARS. DRIVING THROUGH NORTH LITTLE ROCK ON THE INTERSTATE MY TEMPERATURE GAGE SHOT FROM COOL TO RED, MY CAR DINGED AND POSTED A MESSAGE A/C OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMPS. MY A/C WAS NOT ON, AS I WAS PULLING OVER ANOTHER MESSAGE DINGED AND MY ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED. I LET THE CAR IDLE AS THE NEXT MESSAGE INSTRUCTED ME TO DO, THE TEMP WOULD NOT GO DOWN. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CALLED FOR A RIDE. THANKFULLY A NLR POLICE OFFICER SAT WITH ME UNTIL MY BOYFRIEND CAME AS I WAS BROKE DOWN ON A BAD SIDE OF TOWN. THAT BEING SAID, WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR ASE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AS WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE THERMOSTAT STICKING. NOPE! BLOWN HEAD GASKET! ALL BECAUSE OF A FAULTY WATER INLET. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ALL ACROSS THE FORUMS. MY MECHANIC HAD REPLACED NUMEROUS INLETS ON THESE CARS AND CHEVY HAD YET TO DO A RECALL. I CONTACTED GM AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THEY ARE ONLY REPLACING FAULTY WATER PUMPS, EVEN THOUGH THE WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT PARTS INCLUDE THE WATER INLET. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED BY THEIR DEALERSHIP AND AFTER MUCH BACK AND FORTH FINALLY GOT THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE WAIVED. I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY FROM THE DEALER INFORMING ME THAT I HAVE A CRACKED HEAD, WARPED GASKET, AND NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS ALL DUE TO A DEFECT THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS ABOUT. TO TOO IT OFF THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED IN MARCH AND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED 5K MILES AGO. CHEVY WANTS ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE ALL THE DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED FROM THEIR DEFECT. I AM CONTACTING THE BBB, MY ATTORNEY GENERAL, AND ANY NEWS OUTLET I CAN TO GET THIS ISSUE BROUGHT TO LIGHT. WITH A VEHICLE JUST OVER 5 YEARS OLD AND NOT EVEN 100,000 MILES ON IT TO HAVE TO REPLACE AN ENGINE IS LUDICROUS.
THE CAR HAS HAD ALL RECALL WORK DONE FOR BOTH ISSUES HOWEVER THE VEHICLE IS SPEWING OIL AGAIN AND EVEN AFTER THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP WHEN IN REVERSE OR MOVING SLOWLY FORWARD. CHEVY STATES THAT THESE ISSUES ARE NOW MY ISSUE AND AND SPENDS BECAUSE RECALL WORK IS ONLY ONE YEAR ON THE WARRANTY. WHEN BACKING OUT FROM A PARKING SPOT OR DRIVEWAY THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED AND OIL LEAKS RANDOMLY. IN 2015 AS THEY MADE THE REVEAL REPAIR THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE, HOWEVER THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED THE ISSUE.
MY CARS OVER HEATING SIGNAL COMES ON AND TELLS ME TO SHUT OFF THE CAR ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING, ALSO THE POWER STEERING LOCKS UP WHILE TURNING.
HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE AS THE TRANSMISSION CAN SEEM LAGGY AN UNRESPONSIVE AT TIMES IN THESE VEHICLES. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AT 42000 MILES AND AT 70,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAS WENT OUT. WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD THE TRANSMISSION LAGS AS IN IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH FLUID OR IT IS SLAMMING INTO GEAR. OH GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND SWITCHING GEARS YOU HEAR CLUNK AND IT JERKS YOU BACK IN YOUR SEAT. THE SHIFTER INDICATOR ON THE DASH WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE WILL NOT APPEAR ALL THE TIME CAUSING ENGINE TO MISFIRE TURNING OFF TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITY CAUSING THE CAR TO GO INTO LIMP MODE WHEN STARTING THE CAR FROM THE STATIONARY POSITION. AS OF YESTERDAY WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR THE TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT. CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TOLD IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. CAR WAS ACTUALLY PRODUCED IN 2011 THE YEAR THAT CHEVY DID HAVE RECALL ON THE CHEVROLET CRUZES FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. CAR WAS BOUGHT NOVEMBER 2011 BY PREVIOUS OWNER.
LACK OF POWER, COOLANT LEAKS, THE COOLING SYSTEM HAS A NUMBER OF PLASTIC PARTS. THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND A JUNCTION PIECE ARE MADE OF PLASTIC. AFTER CONSTANT HEAT AND COLD THEY CRACK. I HAD TO HAVE BOTH OF THESE PARTS REPLACED AT BELOW 40000 MILES AT A COST OF MORE THAN $800 DOLLARS. THESE PARTS WERE MADE TO FAIL. AS FOR POWER WITH A TURBO IT LACKS POWER. I HAVE CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE COIL PACK. STILL LACES POWER.
HIGH RESISTANCE IN DEPLOYMENT LOOP #8 DRIVERS SEAT SIDE AIRBAG REQUIRES: REPLACEMENT OF AIRBAG MODULE 1 AND ONLY OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT OR IMPACT WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT - YET MID-AUGUST MY "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. ON 8/23/17 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL DEALER FOR THIS ISSUE (AND TO FIX, FOR THE SECOND TIME, A PRIOR RECALL OF THE POWER BRAKE VACUUM ASSEMBLY) AND WAS TOLD DIELECTRIC GREASE WAS PLACED ON THE AIRBAG CONNECTION AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT OFF. WEEKS LATER THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT CAME BACK ON. ON 9/25/17 THE CRUZE WAS TAKEN BY TO OUR LOCAL DEALER AT WHICH TIME WE WERE NOTIFIED THERE IS HIGH RESISTANCE IN DEPLOYMENT LOOP #8 DRIVERS SEAT SIDE AIRBAG AND IT WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAG. IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AS TRAVELING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. AS MENTIONED ABOVE, MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSED EITHER THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY OR THIS "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT TO ENGAGE. AN AIRBAG WHICH SHOULD NOT REQUIRE ANY REPLACEMENT FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, IS NOW NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AT NO FAULT OF MINE. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AS THERE IS NOTHING WHICH I COULD OR HAVE DONE TO CAUSE THIS TO REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. YET, CHEVROLET HAS INDICATED THAT SINCE THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS ITEM YET AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER SPECIAL COVERAGES THEY CANNOT COVER THIS. WHEN YOU PURCHASE A VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND ARE THE ONLY ONE TO OWN IT (CURRENT MILEAGE OF 55,000) AN AIRBAG SHOULD NOT WARRANT REPLACEMENT. THERE IS NO CIRCUMSTANCE IN WHICH I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE MANUFACTURERS DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ESTABLISHED FOR THIS AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. COST TO REPLACE AIRBAG - $1,230. UPDATED 12/7/2017*JS
WHILE BREAKING, USING THE BLINKER, TURNING, OR JUST DRIVING THE CAR WILL LOOSE POWER, SLOW THE CAR DOWN, THE RADIO LOOSES POWER, AND MY SERVICE STABLITKY TRACK, SERVICE POWER STEERING, ALONG WITH TRACTION CONTROL, ANTI-BREAKING LIGHTS, AND A FEW OTHER LIGHT WILL ALL COME BACK ON. IT WILL DO THIS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, IT SEEMS TO DO IT MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR ACCELERATING. I HAD THIS SERVICED BACK IN FEBRUARY OF 2017 AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD ACID FROM MY BATTERY LEAKING INTO THE POSITIVE CABLE, SO I HAD ALL THE BATTERY AND BATTERY WIRES REPLACED. THIS TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN AND THE PROBLEM IS BECOMING WORSE. THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY CRUZES FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE AND CHEVY SEEMS TO BE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT.
THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO GENERAL MOTORS PARTICULARLY THE CHEVROLET DIVISION NOT RESPONDING TO ONGOING BRAKE PROBLEM NOTED IN THEIR RECALL NOTIFICATIONS. I RECEIVED RECALL #12213 IN OCTOBER 2013 REGARDING BRAKE VACUUM MICRO SWITCH. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN DECEMBER 2013 FOR REPAIR. IT IS 3 YEARS 9 MONTHS AND THE SAME COMPONENT HAS FAILED AGAIN ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND CLAIMS IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL SINCE IT WAS REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. I SHOWED THEM A SUBSEQUENT RECALL NOTICE # 12213A DATED JUNE 2015 WITH THE SAME PART AT ISSUE. THEY CLAIM THAT THE RECALL I PRESENTED WAS NOT ASSIGNED TO MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE VIN NUMBER. NO WHERE IN THE DOCUMENT DATED JUNE 2015 DOES IT STATE THAT THIS RECALL IS ONLY FOR CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS. IN FACT IT CLEARLY IDENTIFIES 2011-2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE AS THE PROBLEM YEAR VEHICLE WHICH I OWN. IF RECALL NOTICES ARE VIN NUMBER SPECIFIC THEN IT SHOULD BE STATED SOME WHERE ON THE RECALL NOTICE THAT THESE RECALLS ARE VIN NUMBER SPECIFIC. AS A CONSUMER WHEN WE LOOK THIS INFORMATION UP AND IT CLEARLY IDENTIFIES THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF THE VEHICLE I OWN IT SHOULD BE SAFE TO ASSUME THAT THE RECALL APPLIES. YOUR ASSISTANCE AND CLARIFICATION IN THIS MATER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER SWITCH HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
ECO 1.4L MODEL. ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH, MOST NOTICEABLE AT IDLE. SHORT TIME LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. AFTER TURNING CAR OFF COOLING FAN STAYED ON SEVERAL MINUTES, WHICH IT HAD NEVER DONE BEFORE. DEALER REPLACED VALVE COVER, AND INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR $1100, OUT OF WARRANTY. ONLY 36,200 MILES. FAILURE OF A NON-MOVING PART AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE IS CLEARLY A DEFECT.
