THIS CAR HAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY GM ENOUGH TO HAVE THEM PLACE A BULLETIN OUT ON HOW TO FIX IT....THE FUEL LINE RUSTS THEN LEAKS....THIS CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD AND I HAD TO REPLACE A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD AT MY COST...GM SHOULD FIX THIS ISSUE NOT I....I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND TOLD HIM I HAD A LEAK IN THE FUEL LINE.....I QUOTE HIM EXACTLY...LET ME GUESS DRIVERSIDE IN FRONT OF THE REAR TIRE....ITS A KNOWN ISSUE...I SAT ON THE PHONE WITH MY MOUTH OPEN....I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS....THIS IS ABHORRENT AND CHEVROLET GM....NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE ROLLING BALLS OF FIRE. *TR
RYDELL CHEVROLET IN NORTHRIDGE CALIFORNIA POSTPONED MY RECALL SERVICE BECAUSE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS THEY RECEIVED WERE DEFECTIVE. YES I SAID DEFECTIVE. I DON'T WANT MY DEFECTIVE PARTS REPLACED WITH MORE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THESE CARS ARE LEMONS AND GM KNOWS IT. I SHOULD CALL THE NEWS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING FAILURE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
MY 2010 HHR SERVICE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION WARNING CAME ON ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND HAD LITTLE BRAKE CONTROL. I HAD TO PULL OFF AS IT REDUCED MY SPEED AND WAS HARD TO STEER. VERY DANGEROUS. HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ISN'T A SERVICE STATED IN ALL THE REPORTS HERE. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON EVERY OCCASION WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. MY POWER STEERING IS GOING IN AND OUT IN MY CAR WHICH CAN BE QUITE DANGEROUS. GM SAYS THERE IS A RECALL ON IT BUT ITS IN CUSTOMER PHASE MAILING SO THEY WON'T FIX IT. *TR
I ASKED FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR ON MY AIRBAG. THE DEALER GOT THE PART AND SENT IT BACK ON 7-13-12. THEY NEVER CALLED, EMAILED OR WROTE ME A LETTER. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED. . RECENTLY. GM RECALLED MY KEYS, I ASKED ABOUT MY AIRBAGS. FOR THE FIRST TIME, ON 9-12-14, [XXX] WAS THE ONLY SERVICE EMPLOYEE WHO TOLD ME THE PART IS NOT AT THE DEALER AND IT WAS SENT BACK 2 YEARS AGO AND IF I WANTED IT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ALMOST 400.00 FOR IT. I HAD DETRIMENTALLY RELIED ON THE REPRESENTATIONS OF AT LEAST 13 DIFFERENT CONTACTS WITH SERVICE PEOPLE, OVER THIS PERIOD OF TIME, WITH THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HONOR THE REPAIR. [XXX] COPIED THE SERVICE WORK ORDER SHEET AND GAVE ME A COPY OF IT. THERE WAS NO MENTION OR NOTATION OF A PHONE CALL EVER BEEN MADE, ON IT. [XXX] AND [XXX] , SERVICE MANAGERS AT JAMES MARTIN CHEVROLET 6250 WOODWARD AVE. DETROIT, MICHIGAN 48202, REFUSE TO HONOR THE AIRBAG REPAIR ALTHOUGH THEY ARE REPAIRING OTHER MODEL AIRBAGS DAILY ON A OPEN SAFETY RECALL FROM THE NSTB. GENERAL MOTORS REPRESENTATIVE [XXX] AT 1-866-790-5600 EXTENSION [XXX] REFUSES TO HONOR THE REPAIR ALTHOUGH HE HAS OPEN RECALLS ON OTHER MODELS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. SINCE GENERAL MOTORS HAS A HISTORY OF EXPLODING AIRBAGS CAUSING CRASHES AND SEVERAL OPEN RECALLS ON SEVERAL MODELS, I AM CERTAIN THAT THIS ONE (2010 HHR) SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE LIST FOR SAFETY CONCERNS. ALSO, THE RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE TOO, ON ALMOST ALL MODELS THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS AND REGULAR LIGHTS HAVE THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT OUT. THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE, IT IS A KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT AND ALL GM PRODUCTS FROM 2010 FORWARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AS THE LIGHTS CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND STALLED. AS A RESULT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,999.
WHILE DRIVING OVER INDEPENDENCE PASS IN COLORADO AT 14,000 FEET, ABOUT A HALF MILE FROM THE TOP ON A WINDY, TWO LANE ROAD WITH LOTS OF CARS TRAVELING IN BOTH DIRECTIONS THE CAR BEGAN TO STALL AND STUMBLE. WE HAD TO PULL OVER THE BEST WE COULD NOT TO BLOCK TRAFFIC (THIS IS A TWO LANE NO SHOULDER, NO GUARDRAIL, MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY WITH MANY SWITCHBACKS) WE WERE HEADED UPHILL AND WITH NO POWER HAD TO ROLL SLOWLY BACK TO THE SWITCHBACK TO TURN AROUND. THE CAR WOULD START AND STUMBLE JUST ENOUGH TO MANEUVER IT AROUND GOING DOWN HILL. IT WAS 5PM ON A FRIDAY EVENING MILES FROM ANY RETAIL STORE AND OUT OF CELL PHONE RANGE SO WE WERE PRETTY DESPERATE. WE COASTED DOWN THE MOUNTAIN ROAD, STARTING THE STUMBLING AND SPUTTERING ENGINE WHEN OUR SPEED BECAME TO MUCH OR WE APPROACHED A SWITCHBACK SO THAT THE POWER BRAKES COULD BE USED TO SLOW US DOWN. THIS WENT ON FOR 20-30 MINUTES UNTIL WE WERE OFF THE HAZARDOUS PART OF THE MOUNTAIN PASS AND THEN WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR IT REMAINED RUNNING. WE WILL NEVER ATTEMPT TO GET INTO A HAZARDOUS SITUATION WITH THIS CAR EVER AGAIN. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS DAMAGE OR DEATH. WE COULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THIS MOUNTAIN PASS FOR THE EVENING. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN A 2-3 DAY PERIOD THIS STALLING OCCURRED. OTHER CARS PASSED US BY WITHOUT ISSUE AND IN FACT I HAVE TAKEN MANY CARS OVER INDEPENDENCE PASS IN THE PAST WITH NO ISSUES. I SPOKE TO MY DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES, AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE GAS. THIS GAS IN THE FIRST STALL TWO DAYS PRIOR WAS NOT LOCAL GAS, THIS GAS ON THE STALL ON THE MOUNTAIN PASS WAS LOCAL GAS. IN NO WAY I BELIEVE IT WAS POOR GAS RELATED. I BELIEVE THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THE PROGRAMMING OF THE ENGINE CONTROL THAT COULD HAVE COST US DEARLY. *TR
AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL HOURS, CAME TO A ROAD CONSTRUCTION AREA AND STOPPED FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STUMBLE AND EVENTUALLY DIED AFTER A MINUTE OR SO. AFTER SETTING STILL WITH THE ENGINE AND IGNITION OFF, THE CAR STARTED BACK UP AND WENT ON DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENT. *TR

POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE IN DRIVE. COMES BACK ON WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THEN GOES OUT AGAIN. REPEATEDLY. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY THE POWER ASSIST STEERING QUIT WORKING AND COULD NOT STEER VEHICLE. SOMETIME POWER ASSIST WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T.. AT TIMES IT LOCKS UP. HAD TO HAVE A MECHANIC GET VEHICLE TO CHEVROLET GARAGE BECAUSE I WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO STEER IT. *TR

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY STARTED, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO FUNCTION AND THE AIR VENTS BEGAN TO BLOW HOT AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WAS DRIVING TO AN APPOINTMENT, WHEN MY POWER STEERING FLASHED ON THE DASH SCREEN AND MY STEERING WHEEL WENT FROM FLUID TO STIFF. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON, THE STEERING WAS FLUID AGAIN, BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAD CAME ON AS WELL AS THE ABS AND TRACTION. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS FLUID ONLY FOR A FEW MINUETS, AND THEN AFTER MAKING A FEW TURNS, I LOST THE STEERING ONCE AGAIN. I HAVE LEARNED OF A RECALL ON THE HHR'S POWER STEERING AND STARTER. I WILL GO TO THE DEALER AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY CAN DO. I AM FILING THIS SO IT IS NOTED IN THE RECORDS OF THE HAPPENINGS. *TR
I AM GETTING THE RUNAROUND FROM RYDELL CHEVROLET IN NORTHRIDGE, CA WITH REGARD TO THIS RECALL. CALLED SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING FIRST RECALL NOTICE TO ORDER PARTS, TOLD NO PARTS AVAILABLE YET. WENT IN FOR SERVICE IN AUGUST, ORDERED THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL. CALLED IN SEPTEMBER BECAUSE I HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING OVER 3 WEEKS AND WAS TOLD I DIDN'T NEED TO ORDER PARTS, THEY HAD THEM AND NO PROBLEM, COME IN AND GET REPAIRED. I COULDN'T COME UNTIL THIS MONTH, I CALLED FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE THE RECALL PARTS, APPOINTMENT TOMORROW MORNING. RECEIVED A CALL TODAY, NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WILL HAVE TO ORDER THEM. REALLY??? I HAVE 2 PIECES OF MAIL I RECEIVED FRIDAY, 11/21/14 THAT SAY "YOUR IGNITION SWITCH RECALL PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE" WITH THE INFO FOR RYDELL NORTHRIDGE, CA INVITING ME TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT NOW! THIS IS RIDICULOUS!. GM MAY WANT TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS BUT THE DEALERSHIPS SURE DO NOT. *TR
INSIDE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE DEFECTIVE ,,WILL NOT LET DRIVER OUT OF CAR IN A TIME OF A CRASH. *TR
2010 CHEVROLET HHR. CUSTOMER HAS RECEIVED RECALL FOR CAR BUT STILL HAS PROBLEMS AFTER REPAIR. *TA THE CONSUMER STATED AS SHE WAS DRIVING, SHE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE, WHENEVER SHE TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN SHE RETURNED TO THE DEALER, THE NOISE WAS GONE. HOWEVER, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO HER, THE NOISE WAS THERE. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE AIR BAG COIL WAS MAKING THE NOISE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE NOISE WAS NOT THERE, WHEN SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO COMPLETE THE RECALL. *JB

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE LEGS, NECK, AND BACK. ONE OF THE PASSENGERS SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LOWER BACK AND HANDS. THE OTHER PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LOWER BACK AND THIGHS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AFTER THE CRASH, THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V153000 (STEERING) AND 14E021000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION SWITCH); HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES FRACTURED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOORS COULD ONLY BE OPENED BY USING THE EXTERIOR HANDLES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOOR HANDLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
SUDDEN LOSE OF POWER STEERING WITH POWER STEERING LIGHT COMING ON AND ENGINE STOPPING. LUCKILY WE WERE EXITING A SHOPPING AREA AND WAS ON A DOWNHILL GRADE AND WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE WITHOUT INCIDENT (EXCEPT THE IRRITATED TRAFFIC BEHIND ME). WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITH NO DIFFICULTY BUT THE POWER STEERING LIGHT IMMEDIATELY CAME ON AND INDEED THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. WENT TO A LOCAL AUTO PARTS PLACE WHO SAID THE FUSE LOOKED GOOD, BUT WE CHANGED IT ANYWAY, HOPING THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT NO SUCH LUCK. I LIVE IN THE CITY AND WORK IN A METROPOLITAN AREA, THIS IS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AND AT THIS POINT MY BICEPS AND SHOULDERS ARE GETTING PRETTY SORE. VERY DIFFICULT TO PULL IN AND OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. LOOKING BACK, I SEE HOW THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTEROUS. WHAT IF MY 16 YEAR OLD HAD BEEN BEHIND THE WHEEL? DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE JUST BRAKES OFF. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS YOU CAN BECOME TRAPPED IN YOUR CAR. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR WHEN THIS HAPPENED IS TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW AND PUT YOUR ARM OUT TO OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OR HAVE SOMEONE ELSE OPEN FOR YOU. FOR INSTANCE, IF YOU WERE IN AN ACCIDENT, CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE, STALLED ON RAILROAD TRACKS, OR CARJACKED YOU ARE A PRISONER IN THE CAR. THE DOOR HANDLES ARE MADE OF PLASTIC AND IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR., MINE WAS $200. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN A SAFETY CONCERN, I WOULD NOT HAVE REPAIRED IT. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS, INCLUDING THE "DISABLED AIR BAG" WARNING LIGHT, ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE SECURITY FEATURE CHIP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WAS THE CAUSE OF ALL THE SECURITY LIGHTS ILLUMINATING. THE LEFT FRONT HEAD LIGHT WAS REPLACED 5 TIMES. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND FRONT AXLE WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. *JS

THE NEXT RECALL LETTER WAS RECEIVED ON MAY 11, 2014 AND I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL GM (CECIL CLARKE CHEVROLET) IN LEESBURG, FLORIDA TO BE PUT ON THE 'LIST' FOR THE REQUIRED PARTS/REPLACEMENTS. ON JUNE 17TH, I CALLED CECIL CLARK AGAIN AND WAS ADVISED THAT ALTHOUGH THEY WERE RECEIVING 4 - 5 REPLACEMENT KITS A DAY, MINE HAD NOT COME IN YET. NOW I HAVE A SAFETY RECALL FOR JUNE REFERENCE THE EPS AND THAT PARTS ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. I HAVE DONE WHAT I NEED TO DO, I DRIVE ONLY WHEN I HAVE TO NOW, AND ALTHOUGH I FOLLOW THE SAFETY RULES REFERENCE REMOVING ALL ITEMS FROM THE IGNITION KEY, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHILE DRIVING ANYMORE. WHEN I CONTACTED GM TO INQUIRE ABOUT A POSSIBLE LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL IT CAN BE REPAIRED, I WAS TOLD THE DEALERSHIPS WERE AUTHORIZED TO PROVIDE LOANER VEHICLES. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE ONLY PROVIDING LOANER VEHICLES FOR THOSE WHOSE CARS WERE INOPERABLE. WHEN I CONTACTED GM FOR CLARIFICATION ON THIS, THEY STATED THAT LOANER VEHICLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE CARS UNDER SAFETY RECALLS, OF WHICH MY CAR IS INCLUDED, AND SENT ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP STILL REFUSES TO PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE AND GM IS NOT ASSISTING, JUST SENDING ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. ON THE WEEK OF JUNE 10TH, 2014, I INFORMED YOU THAT WE WERE LEFT WITH NO CAR FOR A DAY AND A HALF, BECAUSE SERRA CHEVROLET IN SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN WAS TOO BACKED UP. LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN SINCE THE RECALL. UPDATE, AS OF TODAY, JUNE 18TH, 2014: 1. THE AIRBAG FUSE WAS MISSING. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STILL COMES ON, PERIODICALLY AS WELL AS THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT. 2. ON JUNE 14TH, 2014, MY HUSBAND EDWIN WAS STRANDED AND HAD TO BE TOWED BECAUSE OF THE NEW KEYS TO THE IGNITION SWITCH, STOPPED WORKING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. ONCE HOME, AFTER BEING TOWED, OUR SON, SUGGESTED TRYING THE OTHER KEY. AND IT WORKED. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE BRAND NEW KEYS.
