THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD WERE TOO BRIGHT, WHICH BLINDED THE CONSUMER WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEERING SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE REQUIRED HIGH EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN CORNERING, VEHICLE COURSE CORRECTIONS, AND HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL IN ONE POSITION, WHICH CAUSED INJURIES. *DT *JB THE REAR SIDE VIEW MIRRORS, BLOCK THE CONSUMER'S VIEW OF THE ONCOMING LANE AND FELT THAT THE SENSOR SHOULD BE AT EYE LEVEL, THE A/C PORTS ON THE DASH BLOW ON THE OPERATOR'S FINGERS AND OR SHOULDERS AND CAUSED SERIOUS DISTRACTIONS, THE HORN IS HARD TO FIND (SPECIFICALLY FOR THE ELDERLY), THERE WAS A WIND NOISE IN THE BACK DOORS, A RATTLE IN THE FRONT STRUT, AND A RUMBLING NOISE HAD COME FROM THE HEATER BLOWER. LTR RE DEFECTIVE STEERING SYSTEMS IN NUMEROUS AUTOMOBILES ESPECIALLY THE 2000 CHEVROLET IMPALA CAUSES CARPAL TUNNEL, HANDS AND FINGER DEFORMALTIES. *TS
SAFETY RECALL 09047 FOR 2000 CHEVROLET IMPALA. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE REASON FOR THE OIL SEEPAGE ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS DUE TO THE VALVE COVERS BEING MADE OF PLASTIC AND IT REQUIRED FREQUENT GASKET CHANGES, BECAUSE THE COVERS DID NOT PROPERLY COMPRESS THE GASKET. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ONLY EFFECTIVE REMEDY WOULD BE TO REPLACE THE VALVE COVERS WITH METAL ONES, WHICH WOULD COMPRESS THE GASKET MORE EVENLY AND PREVENT OIL LEAKAGE ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. *JB
WHILE PARKING NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD AREA. WHEN THE HOOD WAS OPENED THERE WAS A FIRE THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BURN UP TOTALLY. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT THE FIRE OUT, CAUSE UNDETERMINED. *AK
THE ELECTRONICALLY HEATED SEATS STARTED BURNNG THE DRIVER'S BACK WHILE DRIVING, THEY OVERHEATED. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE LEFT WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER 1999, CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEM, A FRONT END ALIGNMENT WAS PREFORMED TO SEE IF THAT WOULD CORRECT THE PULL BUT IT DIDN'T. TOOK CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
THE DIRTY WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID DEFLECTS OFF THE WINDSHIELD ONTO THE WINDOWS CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY OUT OF THE WINDOWS DUE TO DESIGN. NLM
WHENEVER COMING TO A STOP FUEL CAN BE FELT SPLASHING AROUND, BUMPING THE VEHICLE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK THE DEALER PUT A REPLACEMENT IN THE GAS TANK IT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SO THEY PULLED IT OUT AND INSTALLED THE ORIGNAL PART BACK IN THE GAS TANK. THE PROBLEM IS WORSE. *YH
CAR KEEPS ROLLING BACK AT IDLE SITTING WAITING FOR LIGHT TO CHANGE, TOOK CAR IN TO HAVE CHECKED ASST. SARVICE TOLD ME THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS MATTER A GAVE ME A 1-800-222-1020# TO CALL THEY SAID THEY HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING CONCERNING THIS MATTER,BUT TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH SERVICE MANAGER THERE HAS TO BE X AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS BEFORE THIS WOULD BE LOOKED INTO ,I FEEL THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE IF I"M WAITING FOR A LIGHT CHANGE AND SOMEONE IS ON MY BUMPER AND I ROLL BACK THERE COULD BE A REAL PROBLEM.THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER. *AK

ALL THE WINDOWS IN THE VEHICLE HAVE A HAZEY FILM ON THEM THAT WON'T COME OFF, CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY FOR THE DRIVER. DEALER SAYS IT'S NOT A PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN FUEL TANK IS FILLED UP OVER 3/4 WITH GAS, CONSUMER CAN HEAR GAS SWISHING AROUND WHEN PULLING OUT OR COMING TO A STOP. IT FEELS LIKE VEHICLE IS BEING HIT IN THE REAR. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
VEHICLE IS DESIGNED TO GO INTO PARK GEAR ONLY WHEN CONSUMERS FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THIS HAS RESULTED IN 4 TO 6 INCHES OF VEHICLE MOVEMENT WHILE CHANGING PEDAL ENGAGEMENT. *MJS
ON SLIGHT GRADE WHEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACK WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE AND WILL HESTITATE WHEN YOU ACCELERRATE. AT TIMES FROM A STAND STILL, VEHICLE WILL STUMBLE WHEN TRYING TO GET IN FAST TRAFFIC. SECOND TRY VEHICLE WILL STUMBLE AND THEN QUICKLY ACCELERRATE. VEHICLES HESTITATES AT SLOW SPEEDS, 5 TO 25. SPEEDS AT 5 TO 40, LESS THAN 40, VEHICLE WILL FEEL TO BUCK WHEN GOING UP HILLS OR MINOR GRADES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THERE IS A SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS. *AK
WHEN DRIVING 40 MPH, DRIVER STOMPED ON PEDAL IN A PANIC STOP AND THE CONNECTION WHICH WENT TO THE BRAKE PEDAL PISTON COLLAPSED, CAUSING TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. ACCIDENT RESULTED. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER, NOT PARTS HAD BEEN REPLACED. *AK *ML
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 55 MPH AND MAKING A SHARP TURN, VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STRONG VIBRATION/ WOBBLING IN THE FRONT END. VEHICLE HAS BEEN BEEN TO THE DEALER 7 TIMES, AND EACH TIME DEALER HAS REPLACED A DIFFERENT PART, BUT DEFECT STILL OCCURS. *AK
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP, ENGINE TRYS TO STALL CAUSING THE CAR TO SUDDENLY LUNGE FORWARD WHEN THE ENGINE FINALLY DECIDES IT IS NOT GOING TO STALL. TAKEN TO DEALER THREE TIMES WITH NO IMPROVEMENT IN PROBLEM. NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE HAS OCCURED YET!!!
TRUNK SAFETY LATCH IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THR VEHICLE. NLM
DEALER HAS RUN CHECK TWICE AND CANNOT FIND SOURCE OF HESITATION - DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERYDAY AND IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH ANY CERTAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS, LENGTH OF WARM-UP TIME, ETC. USUALLY OCCURS WITHIN FIRST 200 FEET AFTER PUTTING VEHICLE INTO DRIVE - WITH FOOT ON GAS PEDAL, CAR ACTS AS IF IT'S GOING TO STALL AND THEN KICKS BACK INTO GEAR - HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN OCT. 1999. THE CAR ALSO ROLLS BACKWARDS ON INCLINES UNLESS FOOT IS ON BRAKE OR GAS PEDAL - ROLLS BACK EVEN DURING THE TIME IT TAKES TO MOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS (NEED TO DRIVE WITH TWO FEET ON HILLS THAT YOU STOP ON) - HAVE NOT NOTIFIED DEALER OF THIS PROBLEM YET - DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS A PROBLEM UNTIL I SAW THE OTHER COMPLAINTS - WILL NOTIFY DEALER ON NEXT VISIT.*AK
RATTLE NOISE COMING FROM FRONT END CAUSING EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE ON CRADLE, COMPLETE ENGINE FRAME REPLACEMENT AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL SHIMS INSTALLED, HOWEVER NOISE STILL PRESENT. *MJS
THE CAR HESITATES WHEN PULLING OUT ESPECIALLY AFTER IT HAS SET FOR AN HOUR AFTER IT WAS PARKED FOR THAT LENGTH OF TIME. IT HAS A MISS AT TIMES. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE DEALER HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THIS PROBLEM 5 TIMES NOW. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS AND STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CAR HAS A MISS WHEN ACCELERATING, ALSO WHEN PULLING OUT THE GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN AND THE CAR WILL NOT GO IMMEDIATLY AND THEN TAKES OFF. AS STATED WE NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS WILL OCCUR. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN ON 1/17/01 PULLING OUT OF MY MOTHER'S DRIVEWAY. I STEPPED ON THE GAS AND THE CAR HESITATED AS I PULLED OUT INTO THE ROADWAY AND IT FAILED TO GO RIGHT AWAY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION.*AK

ENGINE CHECK LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER REPORTS EGR VALVE IS BAD, BUT CAN NOT GET PART FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE OVER BUMPS, TURNING CORNERS OR STOPPING, OCCUPANTS CAN HEAR FUEL IN FUEL TANK "SLOSHING/SPLASHING" FROM INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT *AK.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON AN UPGRADE OR DOWNGRADE THE VEHICLE ROLLS IN THE DIRECTION OF THE DECLINE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN GEAR, THIS CONDITION OCCURS ON THE SLIGHTEST DECLINES, THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. NLM

TOM HESSER CHEVROLET KEPT TELLING ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR. I CONTACTED CHEV CUSTOMER ASSIST CENTER & TOLD THEM I WANTED THIS CAR CHECKED OUT AT ANOTHER CHEV DELAERSHIP IN MY AREA. THEY SET ME UP WITH SYLVESTER CHEVROLET IN PECKVILLE PA. SYLVESTER CHEVROLET FOUND THE PROBLEMS ON THIS VEHICLE AND DID WORK TO CORRECT THEM. NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
THE STEERING COLUMN WAS CLUNKING AT LOW SPEEDS WHENEVER A TURN WAS INITIATED. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE HAD A TENDENCY TO WANDER. BILL HEARD CHEVROLET IN BUFORD GEORGIA DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS AN INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. AT THE TIME THEY INDICATED THAT THERE THEY WERE SEEING A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF FAILURES OF THIS COMPONENT. ON JANUARY 8 THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO BE REPAIRED. UPON PICKING UP THE VEHICLE THE SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT REPLACED, IT WAS LUBRICATED. I QUESTIONED THAT AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS IN ACCORDACE WITH A CHEVY SERVICE BULLETIN. I FEEL THAT THE PART SHOULD BE REPLACED AND THAT FAILURE TO DO SO REPRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT ANY INDICATION. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

ABS LIGHT KEEPS BLINKING ON ANF OFF. ALSO, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON. BRAKES AND ROTORS KEEP PREMATURELY WEARING OUT. HAD VEHICLE REPAIRED TWICE, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH TAKES A LONG TIME TO LOCK UP ON THE TRANSMISSION IN COLD WEATHER, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY A GM REP THAT THIS OCCURRENCE IS NORMAL, AFTER CHECKING IN THE GM SERVICE MANUAL, CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH DOES NOT LOCK UP UNTIL THE FLUID TEMPERATURE IN THE TRANSMISSION REACHES 266 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH IS NOT LOCKED UP, THE VEHICLES HIGHWAY GAS MILEAGE IS NOT CLOSE TO WHAT WAS ADVERTISED ON THE PRICE STICKER OF CAR.*JB
THERE IS A CLUNK IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHICH THE DEALER CAN NOT GUARANTY THAT THEY CAN FIX BUT IS NORMAL ON THIS LINE OF GM CARS. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS MAY DEVELOP INTO A FAILURE AS ON OTHER GM CARS.*AK
CONSUMER STATES SOON AFTER PURCHASE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING HORN PROBLEMS, AFTER REPLACING THE FUSE SEVERAL TIMES, IT WAS FINALLY DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, ALSO THE BATTERY FAILED AFTER 1 YEAR OF OWNING THE VEHICLE.*JB
THE CONSUMER STATES THAT ON TWO OCCASIONS THE ROTORS WERE OUT OF ROUND, AND ANOTHER OCCASION THE ROTORS PITTED OUT OF ROUND, AND THE LAST OCCASION THE ROTORS WERE PITTED AND WARPED. THE ROTOR REPAIR WAS COVERED AND THE CONSUMER STATES THAT SHE WAS TOLD THAT THERE SHOULDN'T BE ANYMORE PROBLEMS. THE MANUFACTURER CHOOSES NOT TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER ASLO STATES THAT HER SISTER HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. *SCC
AIRBAG LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY, REPAIRED TWICE. BRAKES PULSATE, ROTORS HAVE TO BE RESURFACED EACH YEAR. BRAKE LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENLY. THERE IS AND ODOR COMING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM.
