SIDEWALL BLOWN IN 3 SPOTS WHILE ENTERING DRIVEWAY. DT
WHEN YOU GO TO TURN ON THE TURN SIGNALS THEY DO NOT WORK. THEY WILL WORK ONE MINUTE AND NOT THE NEXT. AT TIMES YOU HAVE TO TURN ON THE FOUR WAY FLASHERS TO GET THE SIGNAL TO WORK AND AT TIMES THIS DOES NOT ALWAY HELP. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR REAR END MISSES BECAUSE OF THIS. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD!*AK
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR EVERY SINCE I GOT IT. IT STARTED WITH THE BRAKES I HAD TO HAVE NEW BRAKES AND A MONTH LATER I HAD TO HAVE NEW ROWTERS BECAUSE THAT HAD A DEFECT. AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW ROWTERS. THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEY FINAL REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. BUT WHEN I TOOK IT IN BEFORE THE WARRANTY WENT OUT THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT NOW THE WARRANTY WENT OUT MY GAS GAGE WOULD GO TO EMPTY WHEN WE ARE SITTING STILL AND WOULD GO BACK UP WHEN WE TAKE OFF. IT SHUT DOWN ON ME GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY. DT
INTERMITTENTLY INDICATOR AIR BAG LIGHT BECOME INOPERABLE. DUE TO A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING. DEALER INSPECTED AND NOTANY LONGER UNDER GUARANTEE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. MR

VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. BELIEVES PROBLEM IS DUE TO FUEL FILLER RECALL 99V302000, BUT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *AK
NUMEROUS PROBLEMS: BRAKES MADE NOISE WHEN APPLIED, VEHICLE JERKED WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP,THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON THE CONSUMER THREE TIMES, IT STARTED LOUD AND HARD, BOUNCED WHILE BEING DRIVEN AND A BOLT FELL OFF FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT, HOWEVER THE DEALER STATED THE BOLT DID NOT BELONG TO THE VEHICLE. *PH ALSO THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WAS INOPERATIVE, AND THE BATTERY WAS WEAK. *JB
THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED STALLING AT INTERMIT TIMES SINCE SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE STALLING WOULD CAUSE THE CONSUMER TO BE UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO THE DEALER, AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN ALTERNATE DEALERSHIP, THE KEY CYLINDER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN AND CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND ON THIS OCCASION, THE CONSUMER HAD STRUCK A UTILITY POLE AND TOTALED THE VEHICLE. *SCC
ON GOING PROBLEM OF CAR STALLING AFTER RAN FOR AN HOUR OR MORE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAS BEEN IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM MANY TIMES. VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH DEFECTIVE ROTORS. AT 3000 MILES ROTORS WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. ROTORS HAVE BEEN SERVICED OR REPLACED 5 TIMES SINCE VEHICLE PURCHASE. PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING EVERY 3000-6000 MILES. *NLM. ALSO, HAS HAD TWO ACCIDENTS. *AK
TURN INDICATORS WOULD FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HAVING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT; BUT, MANY CLOSE CALLS. IN THE FALL OF 2002, I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. IN 2003 IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT GM WAS GOING TO HAVE A RECALL CAMPAIGN IN THE 1ST QUARTER OF 2004; HOWEVER, MY VIN IS NOT IN THE RANGE OF VEHICLES TO BE REPAIRED.*AK
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING 55MPH THE ENGINE DIED WITHOUT WARNING.*JB
THIS WILL BE THE 4TH TIME TO TAKE VEHICLE IN FOR TURN SIGNAL PROBLEMS. I HAVE TO USE MY HAZARDS TO GET MY TURN SIGNAL TO WORK. NOW NEITHER ONE OF THEM WORK. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO WAY MY HAZARDS WOULD MAKE MY TURN SIGNAL WORK. THIS CAR IS A PIECE OF EXPENSIVE JUNK. NOT TO MENTION THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED ALSO.*AK
THE CAR FIRST DEVELOPED A MISS IN THE ENGINE, THEN AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 55-65 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEARLY CAUSE SEVERLY ACCIDENTS. I WOULD PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR WOULD START AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO ONE MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE PLUGS, WIRES, AND IGNITION COIL. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR BROKE DOWN AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC THEYDID A DECARBON TREATMENT ON ENGINE. I GOT THE CAR BACK AND IT BROKE DOWN THE NEXT DAY. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC HE REPACED A FUEL FILTER. WHEN I DROVE IT HOME IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME MECHANIC, AT THAT POINT HE DROVE THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS UNTIL IT BROKE DOWN ON HIM WITH THE COMPUTER HOOK TO IT. HE THEN REPLACED PART NO. 22683260 MODULE 3.107 137 AND PART NO. 22626099 RING 3.112 G31 CHECK FOR RECALL OF FUEL TANK FITTING AND DID NOT REPLACE. I LEFT THE PARKING LOT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I TURNED AROUND AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE SAME MECHANIC HE HOOK UP THE COMPUTER SAID HE DID NOT KNOW WHY THE LIGHT WAS ON AND PUT GAS TREATMENT IN THE TANK AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT HOME AND ONCE I HAD RUN OUT THIS TANK OF GAS UNHOOK THE BATTERY AND HOOK IT BACK UP AGAIN AND THE LIGHT SHOULD GO OFF. II DID THIS AND THE LIGHT CAME RIGHT BACK ON. AT THIS POINT I HAVE A CAR WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT WHICH I OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON AND CAN NOT TAKE IT OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY FOR FEAR IT WILL BREAK DOWN LEAVE ME STRANDED OR GET IN AN ACCIDENT, OR CATCH ON FIRE. I HAVE WRITTEN A LETTER TO GM THREE WEEKS AGO WITH NO RESPONSE. IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS I HAVE SPENT OVER 1,500 DOLLARS IN REPAIRS AND THE MECHANICS ARE TELLING ME NOW THE NEXT STEP IS TO TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE AND REPLACE THE PISTONS. WHAT CAN A PERSON DO IN THIS CASE WHERE DO I TURN FOR HELP?????????
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE TURNING SIGNAL AND EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENLY WORK. CONTACTED DEALER PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. MR
WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING AND VIBRATING EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONSUMER THAT THE CHEVROLET MALIBU BRAKE COMPONENTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 15000-20000 MILES. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT ANOTHER REPAIR FACILITY REPAIRED THE BRAKES. THE CONSUMER DIDN'T WANT PARTS THAT WOULD FAIL EVERY 15 TO 25K MILES. *SCC
THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND THEN STALLED, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A NEW ENGINE AND THERMOSTAT WAS NEEDED. TS *JB
DEALER HAS REPLACED SOME PARTS, PAID SOME LABOR, AND BLAMED OWNER OR/AND NORMAL WEAR FOR SOME DEFECTS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF GARAGE NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED AT DEALERSHIP.NO SAFETY DEFECT LISTED. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES POSSIBLY FAILED. *TT
RECALL NO. #03V327000, HAZARD WARNING SWITCH FAILURE. INTERMITTENTLY THE SIGNAL LIGHTS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. ALSO,WHEN THE SIGNAL LIGHTS WERE ENGAGED ONLY A IRRITATING NOISE WAS HEARD. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH ON FLAT SURFACE AND WITH NO WARNING TRANSMISSION WILL STALL, MAKING IT HARD FOR CONSUMER TO CONTROL VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE FISHTAILED IT WAS HIT IN FRONT END ON DRIVER'S SIDE AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND HIT A GUARDRAIL TWICE, CONSUMER SUFFERED INJURIES AND VEHICLE WAS DECALRED A TOTAL LOSS.*JB
WHILE DRIVING 55MPH VEHICLE CUT COMPLETELY OFF, CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING.*AK THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR STALLING PROBLEM. THE DEALER WAS NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BUT THEY REPLACED THE CRANK SENSOR. *YH
I HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS IN THE YEAR SINCE I PURCHASED SAID VEHICLE: -SIGNAL &/OR HAZARD LIGHTS WORK PERIODICALLY -RADIO & LIGHTER SHORT OUT/BLOW FUSES -A/C NOT WORKING -A/C CUTS ON AUTOMATICALLY W/ RECIRCULATION BUTTON -VENT ONLY WORKS ON LEVEL 3 OR HIGHER -WATER PRESENT IN TRUNK -UNEVEN TIRE WEAR -ERRATIC GAS GAUGE READINGS -COOLANT RAN COMPLETELY OUT W/OUT REASON. *JB
DURING ROUTINE SERVICE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN INFORMED CONSUMER THAT RIGHT SPINDLE AND STRUT WERE BENT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL THERE WAS EXTENED STOPPING DISTANCE. ALSO, ROTORS BURNED OUT ALEAST 5 TIMES. DEALER WAS NOTIFED ,REPAIR ED AND REPLACED.*AK
NAR 02/10/2003. THE CONSUMER MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES WITH HIS BRAKES. EVER SINCE THE CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES HAVE SQUEALED. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE ROTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE CV JOINT WAS LEAKING. *JB
BOTH ENGINE MOUNTS BROKE WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND MADE THE REPAIRS. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN MVA BACK IN 2002 BECAUSE OF TURN SIGNAL FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT A RECALL HAD BEEN MADE BUT NOBODY EVER NOTIFIED ME! ALSO MY WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES ESPECIALLY WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. I HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO LOOSING CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE ON TWO OCCASIONS WHEN THERE IS WATER ON THE ROADS. I REPLACED MY ROTORS TWICE! I BELEIVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT.AND ONE MORE THING MY AC CONTROL SWITCH KEEPS TURNING ON AND OFF THE COMPRESSOR I DONT BELIEVE THIS COULD BE GOOD FOR THE COMPRESSOR!. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH THERE WAS A NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD, ONCE HOOD WAS RAISED CONSUMER SAW ENGINE HAD FALLEN. DEALER DETERMINED THAT BRACKETS HAD BROKEN, CAUSING MOTOR MOUNTS TO FALL AND ENGINE TO DISCONNECT ON BOTH SIDES.*AK CONSUMER HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, HOWEVER DEALER WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE LABOR AND BROKEN BOLTS. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE IS ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL START TO DIE OUT WHILE DRIVING. LIGHTS WILL START TO DIM, AND VEHICLE WILL START TO SLOW DOWN. BUT, THEN IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF, AND CONSUMER IS ABLE TO KEEP DRIVING. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SURGES AND SEEMS TO WANT TO UPSHIFT, ESPECIALLY WHEN CAR IS DRIVEN ON AN INCLINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I STARTED NOTICING THIS 2002 AND HAVE BEEN PUTTING UP WITH THIS DEFECT FOR YEARS. I BELIEVE THIS IS CAUSED BY A FAULTY TRANSMISSION TCC SOLENOID, AS MANY OTHER CHEVY MALIBU OWNERS COMPLAIN OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO NOT ALLOWING DRIVER TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
HAVE OWNED VEHICLE FOR 18 MONTHS AND HAVE REPLACED ROTORS, BRAKE PADS, AND CALIPERS ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. DEALER STATES NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT STRANGE EXCESSIVE HEAT ON ROTORS TO WARP AND CRACK EACH PAIR. STEERING COLUMN SHAKES WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WITH EXCESSIVE BRAKING DISTANCE. AT OTHER TIME, BRAKE PEDAL IS LIKE MANUAL BRAKING WITH STIFFNESS. VEHICLE WILL SLIDE AT NORMAL BRAKING ON ASPHALT. QUICK DEFENSIVE BRAKING CAUSES CONSUMER TO HAVE DIFFICULTY MAINTAINING LANE DUE TO VIOLENT SHAKING OF STEERING COLUMN AND BRAKE PEDAL. CALIPERS GRABBING ROTORS WHEN BRAKE PEDAL APPLIED CAUSING IMMEDIATE JERK RIGHT OR LEFT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. DT
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A "TICKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE." *PH THE CONSUMER LEFT FRONT CALIPER BOLT IS STRIPPED CAUSING A VIBRATING/ GRINDING NOISE THAT RADIATES FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AND THE CONSUMER IS TRYING TO OBTAIN AN OVER ALL INSPECTION OF THE MECHANICAL DEFECTS OF THE VEHICLE SO GM CAN BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAULTY AUTOMOBILE. *CB
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY SEVERAL TIMES. AND AS SOON AS PULLING OVER THE VEHICLE WILL START BACK UP AGAIN. CONTACTED DEALER
I FEEL THE DISC BRAKE ROTORS FAIL TOO RAPIDLY AND THE PULSATING COULD LEAD TO COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILUTE, BETTER COMPONENTS SHOULD BE USED. *AK
TURN SIGNALS ARE OCCASIONALLY NOT WORKING. WHEN THEY DO WORK, ALL BULBS ARE FUNCTIONAL. MY WIFE FIRST REPORTED THIS TO ME THE OTHER DAY THAT THEY DIDN'T FUNCTION WHEN SHE TRIED TO USE THE TURN SIGNAL FROM A STOP SIGN. WHEN I DROVE THE VEHICLE, THE TURN SIGNALS APPEARED TO FUNCTION FINE AT FIRST, THEN THEY FAILED TO WORK WHEN MAKING A LANE CHANGE. I THEN TRIED THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS MOMENTARILY, THEN THE TURN SIGNALS WERE FUNCTIONING AGAIN AFTER THAT TIME. THERE MUST BE SOME SORT OF SWITCH PROBLEM SOMEWHERE. I DID NOT GET AN OWNERS MANUAL WITH THE VEHICLE, SO MY INVESTIGATION IS LIMITED TO LOOKING AT THE FUSES IN THE FUSE BOX. *AK
BLINKER JUST STOPS WORKING OCCASIONALLY, IT HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING OR STOPPED. I CAN GET THEM TO WORK AGAIN BY PRESSING THE HAZARD LIGHTS BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY WILL EVENTUALLY COME BACK ON, IT ONLY HAPPENS RANDOMLY. IT STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO HAPPENING RARELY, NOW IT HAPPENS WEEKLY. *NLM
THE PADS HAVE WORN EXCESSIVELY OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE EXSISTING PROBLEM HAS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO REPLACED THE PADS 12-14 TIME BECAUSE OF GRINDING DOWN TO METAL ( 6 INCHES ). THE BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE FREQUENTLY FAILING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. NLM
AT APPROX. 10,000 MILES, THE ENGINE WOULD STOP WITHOUT WARNING OR TROUBLE LIGHTS. AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD STILL BE ON WHEN THE TACHOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO. IT WOULD BE TRIGGERED BY BUMPS IN THE ROAD. DAD, 88, WAS WORRIED. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR WHICH HAS DASH MOUNTED IGNITION SWITCH BUT NEVER RECALLED. DETENT IN SWITCH IS POOR. WITH MINOR WEAR, A LARGE AMOUNT OF KEYS CAUSES THE SWITCH TO MOVE APPROX. 1/8 INCH COUNTERCLOCKWISE, SHUTTING THE CAR WITHOUT ANY DASH LIGHT INDICATION. NEW SWITCHES ARE NOT IMPROVED. YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE KEY ON CHAIN SO AS NOT TO DISTURB THE SWITCH ROTATION DUE TO THE POOR DETENT EXACT DATE OF FIRST SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE. CAR IS ON THE THIRD SWITCH. *JB
FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED AT 24,500 MILES. OUTSIDE PADS NOT TOUCHED, INSIDE PADS COMPLETELY GONE. NO WARRANTY ON THIS. SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *AK
TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND PREPARING TO STOP, AND SUDDENLY A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR END. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION, FRACTURED HAND AND WRIST; AND ADDITIONAL INJURIES TO THE EYE, ANKLE, AND RIGHT LEG. THE SEVERE INJURIES RESULTED IN FOUR SURGERIES ON THE HAND AND WRIST, AND TWO SURGERIES ONTHE ANKLE. THE CONTACT STATED ADDITIONAL SURGERIES WERE REQUIRED AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING AT 70-75 MPH AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING IT SHUT OFF, CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE POWER. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
