TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED THE INCORRECT SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,700 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,919. UPDATED 02/18/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE CONTACTED GM AND THEY REFERRED HIM TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE SPEEDOMETER FIXED AND IS WORKING CORRECTLY. UPDATED 02/23/11
WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN WITH MY 2004 CHEVY PICKUP THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP. AFTER GETTING OUT I SAW BRAKE FLUID COMING DOWN AT ABOUT THE DRIVERS DOOR ALONG THE FRAME. I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE TO BE REPAIRED AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEED NEW BRAKE LINES. ESPECIALLY THE ONES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE FRONT BRAKES TO THE ABS CONTROLLER. WERE THESE LINES MEET THE FRAME THERE IS A PLASTIC CLIP AND AT THAT POINT THE LINES WERE ROTTED. AT THIS TIME ALL THE BRAKE LINES NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO IN THE PASS I HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE ROTORS ON THE TRUCK BECAUSE THEY WERE ROTTEN. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER SEEN A ROTOR THAT WAS ROTTEN.
JAN 2011 DURING A REAL BAD WINTER WE LOST THE FRONT BRAKES WHILE DRIVING, MULTIPLE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED AT A COST OF $600+, APRIL 2012 WHILE DRIVING AGAIN 25MPH THE REAR BRAKE LINES BURST!! JUST HAD TO PAY FOR MORE BRAKE LINES AT A COST OF $485. THE TRUCK NOW HAS 117,000 MILES AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ISSUE WE HAVE HAD, THE ODOMETER NO LONGER WORKS AND HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE BLOWER FOR HEAT AND A/C. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED AND INDICATED THAT HE WAS TRAVELING 90-100 MPH. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
82000 MILES, SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING. GAUGE SHOWS 75-120MPH AT ALL TIMES. IT IS UNKNOWN EXACTLY HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELLING AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BROKEN ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET 2500 HD TRUCK. THEY ARE ALSO BROKEN ON MY SONS 2004 GMC 2500 HD AND MY BROTHERS 2005 GMC 2500HD. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THAT AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE THEY CATCH FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WITH THE BRAKES ENGAGED WHEN SHE NOTICED BLACK AND WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE MUFFLER. THE FAILURE CONTINUED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THREE OF THE EIGHT INJECTORS FAILED. CRACKED DASHBOARD, EXTERIOR COLOR FADED,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH SUDDENLY EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD. SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY USING THE GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,000.
2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. CONSUMER STATES BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, SHE/HE HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, GEAR DOWN AND USE THE TRAILER GEAR . THE GEAR WAS THEN PLACED IN PARK WHEN THE CONSUMER REACHED A STOP LIGHT, IN CASE THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE CONSUMER LEFT THE VEHICLE AT HIS/HER MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED THE NEXT DAY. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND WERE LEAKING IN SOME AREAS. *JB

I RESEARCHED FAILURES AND FOUND TO BE RELATED TO TRANSMISSION CODES CAUSED BY IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE...FURTHER RESEARCH INDICATES THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN DEFECT AND GM HAS A FIX LISTED TO ITS' DEALERS... THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY RELATED TO CHEVROLET TRUCKS BUT NEARLY ALL VEHICLES PRODUCED BY GM. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IE( SPEEDOMETER /FUEL GAUGE ) FAILED OR WORKS PARTIALLY. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR 2 YEARS.FINAL FAILURE WAS 12-19-2010 . GM HAS REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE PART REPLACEMENT AND THE DEALER THAT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM IS REQUESTING I PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. ATTORNEY WRITES ON BEHALF OF CLIENTS IN REGARDS TO NEGLIGENT DRIVER COLLISION *TGW THE ATTORNEY STATED THE DRIVER OF A TRACTOR TRAILER, DROVE OFF THE EMERGENCY LANE INTO HIS CLIENTS LANE OF TRAVEL RESULTING IN A VERY SEVERE COLLISION, BECAUSE HIS CLIENT WAS UNABLE TO AVOID RUNNING INTO THE REAR OF HIS TRACTOR TRAILER. THE ATTORNEY BELIEVED THE DRIVER WAS TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE AND WAS IMPROPERLY LOCATED IN THE EMERGENCY LANE AND DID NOT SIGNAL THAT HE WAS ABOUT TO ENTER BACK INTO THE LANE OF TRAVEL. AS A DIRECT AND PROXIMATE RESULT, HIS CLIENTS SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT INJURIES. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS BEING INSPECTED AT THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, THE HOOD OF THE CAR CAME DOWN ABRUPTLY ON THE MECHANICS HEAD AND NECK. THE MECHANIC SUSTAINED SOME BRUISES ON THE BACK OF HIS NECK AND HEAD. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 194,399.
INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER HAS STARTED PROVIDING INACCURATE READINGS INCLUDING ERRATIC SPEED DISPLAY. PROBLEM STARTED AT 86,000 MILES. CHEVROLET WILL NOT COVER REPLACEMENT AS OVER THE MILEAGE LIMIT. *TR
THE LOSS OF STEERING CAUSED MY 2004 SILVERADO 1500 TO VEER TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WHILE GOING STRAIGHT. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED VEERING TO THE LEFT, DESPITE ME TRYING TO GAIN CONTROL OF IT. THE VEHICLE LEFT THE HIGHWAY AND ENTERED A SANDY FIELD. I APPLIED BRAKES WITH ALL OF MY FOOT FORCE, BUT THE TRUCK SEEMED NOT TO SLOW UP ANY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOW HEADED TOWARDS A WOODED AREA. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY CAME TO A SUDDEN HALT WHEN IT IMPACTED WITH A BIG PINE TREE. THE AIRBAGS EXPLODED AGAINST MY ARMS AS I USED THEM TO SHIELD MY FACE. I SUDDENLY NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I GRABBED MY PURSE AND HURRIEDLY VACATED THE VEHICLE. I CALLED 911 AFTER GETTING FAR ENOUGH FROM THE SMOKING TRUCK. I SUFFERED BACK AND NECK PAIN. I HAD DIZZY SPELLS, BECAUSE MY HEAD FELT LIKE A HUMONGOUS BASKETBALL. I AM FORTUNATE THAT I DID NOT LOOSE MY LIFE. I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF A RECALL OF A STEERING COMPONENT. I AM FOR CERTAIN THAT THIS ACCIDENT WAS DUE TO A MALFUNCTION OF A STEERING COMPONENT ON MY 2004 SILVERADO 1500. I RECEIVED NO LETTER OR PHONE CALL MAKING ME AWARE OF THE RECALL. THIS NEGLIGENCE ALMOST GOT ME KILLED. THE VEHICLE IMPACT INTO THE PINE TREE CAUSED A TOTAL LOSS OF MY SILVERADO. I WILL BE CONTACTING MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THIS INFORMATION. ALL THESE YEARS I HAVE BEEN BEWILDERED ABOUT WHY MY SILVERADO VEERED OFF THE ROAD FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I DESCRIBED THE INCIDENT LIKE A TWIGHTLIGHT MOMENT (A WEIRD UNEXPLAINED HAPPENING).
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE REVERSING AND ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT NOTICED BRAKE FLUID DRAINING FROM UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED. WHENEVER THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS TURNED ON, IT BLEW HOT AIR ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND COLD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON TO RESET THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP BUT HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A BRAKE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A LACK OF MAINTENANCE ON HIS PART. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREET AT STEPPED ON THE BRAKES TO STOP AT A LIGHT. BRAKE PEDAL HAD MORE TRAVEL THAN NORMAL. DROVE TRUCK HOME AND BRAKES WERE BECOMING INCREASINGLY LESS EFFECTIVE. UPON INSPECTION AT HOME, FOUND BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE TRUCK. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO SHOP. SHOP FOUND THAT BRAKE LINES TO REAR OF TRUCK HAD CORRODED THROUGH AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. SHOP SAID THEY HAD FIXED AT LEAST 15 SIMILAR TRUCKS THIS YEAR WITH SAME PROBLEM.
SPEEDOMETER BEGINS ACTING ERRATICALLY. RANGES FROM 20 -120MPH REGARDLESS OF ACTUAL SPEED. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP AFTER REPEATEDLY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT TWO OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK AND THERE IS A CLUNKING, THUMPING, IN THE STEERING COLUMN. MY MECHANIC SAYS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL FULL SIZE GM PRODUCTS, GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS WITH A PERMANENT FIX. HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE? I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FOR SAFETY OF MY FAMILY.
2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO DASH GAUGES ERRATIC-FUEL AND SPEEDOMETER GAUGE DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DECELERATING, HE NOTICED HIS BRAKES WEAKENING AS HE WOULD SLOW DOWN. HE THEN PULLED OVER TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE WHERE HE NOTICED A LEAK IN THE BRAKE LINE AND THAT IT WAS COVERED WITH RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
BRAKE LINE RUSTED - LOST ALL BRAKING SUDDENLY DUE TO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP - FIXED. *TR
RECENTLY I DEVELOPED AN EXHAUST LEAK NEAR THE FRONT OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM NEAR THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THE BACK MANIFOLD BOLT HAD BEEN BROKEN OFF ON THE DRIVERS SIDE (I MAY ALSO HAVE A BROKEN BOLT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AS WELL). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCALLY RESPECTED MECHANIC WITH THE INTENTION OF HAVING THE BROKEN BOLT REMOVED AND A NEW ONE INSTALLED. I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE GM VEHICLES (2004 SILVERADO 2500HD). I WAS FURTHER INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY THE REPAIR WOULD BE SIMPLE DUE TO THE FACT THERE WAS NO PRACTICAL MANNER IN WHICH TO EXTRACT/DRILL OUT THE BROKEN BOLT FOR REPLACEMENT. I WAS TOLD THE HEAD WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO EFFECT THE REQUIRED REPAIR WHICH WOULD COST SOMEWHERE BETWEEN $700-$1000. THIS REPAIR IS NOT COST EFFECTIVE TO ME FOR WHAT IS PROBABLY A $3.00 BOLT. RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET I FOUND OUT IT IS IN FACT A PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES DATING BACK TO 1999. WHY HAS GM NOT BEEN REQUIRED TO REPAIR THIS ITEM AT NO COST TO THE OWNER IF IT IS THIS WIDESPREAD. *TR
OCCASIONALLY UPON TURNING KEY THE DRIVER SEAT CLICKS AS IF TRYING TO ADJUST. VERY LITTLE TO NO MOVEMENT OCCURS. NO ACTION TAKEN TO DATE. THIS HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES, THOUGH SPORADICALLY. *TR
MY CLUSTER OG GAUGES SPEEDOMETER, OIL, TEMP, MILEAGE STOP WORKING ALL THE TIME, I WAS STOPPED ONCE BECAUSE MY GAUGES STOPPED WORKING AND GOT AN UNLAWFUL SPEEDOMETER TICKET. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS 04 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500. *TR

AFTER A CLOSE RELATIVE LOST HIS BRAKES ON HIS 2003 GMC SIERRA I EXAMINED THE BRAKE LINES ON MY 6 YEAR OLD CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 65000 MILES AND DISCOVERED THE BRAKES WERE SEVERELY RUSTED ALL ALONG THE FRAME NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I HAD TO HAVE ALL THE LINES REPLACED AT LOCAL GARAGE AT MY OWN EXPENSE AS THE CHEVROLET GARAGE ACTED LIKE IT WAS PERFECTLY NORMAL FOR A 6 YEAR OLD TRUCK TO BE IN THIS CONDITION. I TOOK PICTURES OF CORRODED LINES AND HAVE KEPT THE REPAIR RECEIPT IN HOPES THAT GENERAL MOTORS WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AS TOYOTA DID WHEN CUSTOMERS COMPLAINED ABOUT THE TACOMAS WITH SEVERE RUST PROBLEMS AROUND 2008-2009. *TR
KUMHO TYRES ON MY CHEVY SILVERADO DEVELOPED SIDEWALL SPLITS DUE TO DRY ROT. TYRES ARE ONLY 1 YEAR OLD AND HAVE 26,000 MILES ON THEM. THEY DID NOT WANT THE DOT NUMBERS. CONTACTED KUMHO AND THEY SAID THEY WEREN'T CONCERNED. MY AUTO SHOP SAID THE TYRES WERE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND REPLACED THEM. THE INDIFFERENCE AND RUDENESS OF THE KUMHO CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON CHARLES AND HIS SUPERVISOR WAS APPALLING. ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERN THAT THIS COULD CREATE A POTENTIALLY FATAL TYRE FAILURE. VERY DISTURBING AND QUITE A SURPRISE. *TR
CLUNKING IN STEERING COLUMN GM KNOWS ABOUT PROBLEM STEMS FROM 2004 TILL2008 ALL HAVE BAD STEERING SHAFT GM REFUSES TO REMEDIATE THE PROBLEM HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED PLEASE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM .THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ON CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUPS. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO, TOWED A TRAILER. THE TRAILER BECAME DISCONNECTED AND TRAVELED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE TRAILER STRUCK THE CONCRETE WALL AND FLIPPED OVER. BF THE PIN WHICH HELD THE HITCH INTO THE RECEIVER FELL OUT AND WAS LOCATED. THERE WERE NO CHAINS ON THE TRAILER. (OHIO TRAFFIC REPORT # 10-0698-90)*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND RUSTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

MY BROTHER INLAW OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA AND EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO CORRODED BRAKE LINES IN 2009. UPON INSPECTING MY BRAKE LINES ON MY 2004 SILVERADO I OBSERVED THE THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THEY FAILED AS WELL. MY TRUCK WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME! AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE I DETERMINED THAT THEY WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE REPAIRS. I STILL HAVE THE CORRODED BRAKE LINES, RECEIPT AND PICTURES OF LINES ON TRUCK BEFORE REPLACEMENT. KEEPING ALL EVIDENCE IN CASE OF RECALL. BY THE WAY, MY EXHAUST SYSTEM LOOKS LIKE BRAND NEW. PROBLEM 1.THE PLUG THAT CONTROLS THE BLOWER MOTOR IN MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO MELTED AND STARTED SMOKING. I REPLACED IT AND 3 MONTHS LATER IT IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN. WITHOUT THE USE OF THE BLOWER MOTOR I CAN NOT USE THE HEAT,AC OR WINDOW DEFOGGER. THIS TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I SEARCH ONLINE I SEE THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THEIR PLUGS HAVE MELTED AND IN SOME CASES HAVE ALSO STARTED FIRES. NOT HAVING A WINDOW DEFOGGER IS VERY DANGEROUS. PROBLEM 2. THE HEATER BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR HAS STOPPED WORKING. WHAT THIS DID BEFORE THE PLUG MELTED WAS TO CONTROL THE TEMP OF THE AIR COMING OUT OF THE VENTS. WHEN IT STOPS WORKING LIKE IT DID TO ME WAS TO BLOW BURNING HOT AIR RIGHT IN MY FACE EVEN WITH THE AC ON. IMAGINE DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND HAVE THESE THINGS HAPPEN TO YOU. DONE SOME RESEARCH - FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL, TO CHANGE THE 20 CENT CLIP THAT HOLDS THE SO-CALLED BRAKE SHOE CENTER OF THE HUB. THIS IS A JOKE BECAUSE ROUGH ROADS & POT HOLES WILL STILL CAUSE THE SHOE TO SLIP DOWN AND RUB THE DRUM. THE DESIGN IS A JOKE ON ALL GM CUSTOMERS THAT BOUGHT VEHICLES WITH THIS EASY APPLY PARKING BRAKE USING THE DRUM IN HAT SET UP USED WITH REAR DISK BRAKES. MY SON WHO JUST RECEIVED HIS PERMIT WAS DRIVING WITH ME IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHEN WE WERE PULLED OVER BY A POLICEMAN FOR DOING 20 MILES OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. I WAS SO SURPRISED, I CONSTANTLY CHECK HIS SPEED ON A REGULAR BASIS WHEN HE IS DRIVING AND WOULD NEVER HAVE ALLOWED THIS TO OCCUR. AFTER A NASTY TICKET. I WENT HOME AND RESEARCHED THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE DASH CLUSTER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I SENT THE TRUCK TO A NEIGHBORHOOD AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHO RAN IT ON THEIR DYNOMETER AND FOUND THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS GROSSLY OFF. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS 112,000 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM ENTERPRISE LEASING COMPANY 1 YEAR AGO WHEN IT HAD 101,000 MILES ON IT. SO I WENT TO THEM FOR RECOURSE AND THEY TOO WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL BECAUSE IT HAS TOO MANY MILES ON IT. I AM APPALLED THAT THIS WAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE I UNSUSPECTINGLY BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM A REPUTABLE COMPANY THAT SHOULD HAVE MADE SURE THAT IT WAS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER BEFORE THEY SOLD IT. I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY TRAVELING 35-40 MILES PER HOUR. THE ROAD HAD A SLIGHT TURN TO THE RIGHT WITH A SMALL PUDDLE OF WATER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN. WHEN I HIT THE PUDDLE MY TRUCK BEGAN TO FISHTAIL. I FIRST THOUGHT I WAS HYDROPLAINING BUT WHEN I TRIED TO DO CORRECTIVE STEERING NOTHING WAS WORKING. THE SWERVING GOT MORE AND MORE VIOLENT AND MOVE THE TRUCK THROUGH 3 LANES OF POSSIBLE ON COMING TRAFFIC. WHEN I REACHED THE BERM ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD THERE WAS A LOUD BANG AND MY TRUCK CANTO A SUDDEN STOP. I THOUGHT THAT I HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND WHEN I LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR I SAW MAY SPARE TIRE WHICH WAS MOUNTED UNDER THE BED OF MY TRUCK LAYING ON THE GROUND BEHIND ME. I EXITED MY TRUCK AND SAW I NEVER HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND THE LOUD BANG WAS WHEN THE TIRE BROOK FREE AND BENT OUT MY REAR FENDER. IT SOON BECAME EVIDENT THAT THE SPARE TIRE HANGER CAME LOOSE FROM PART OF THE BRACKET THAT WAS HOLDING IT INPLACE AND WAS SWINGING BACK AND FORTH UNTIL THE PART OF THE HANGER THAT WAS BOLTED ON FINALLY BROKE AND RELEASED THE TIRE. WHILE SWINGING BACK AND FORTH IT DAMAGED ONE OF THE SHOCKS, BENT MY TAILPIPE AND KNOCKED IT OF ITS HANGER AND DID SOME DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK I WAS VERY LUCKY BECAUSE THE LIGHT FOR THE ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS RED AND ALL POTENTIAL HARM AND PROPERTY DAMAGE WAS AVOIDED. *TR

WHEN DECELERATING TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT, THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED CAUSING THE VEHICLES DECELERATION TO DECREASE, THUS INCREASING THE STOPPING DISTANCE, RESULTING IN A NEAR COLLISION. THE VEHICLE NOW DOES THIS CONSISTENTLY DURING EVERY STOP ONCE THE VEHICLES SPEED DROPS BELLOW 10 MPH. THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING ANYTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, WHICH IS EVEN MORE ALARMING. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IDENTICAL TO THAT IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000. IF THERE IS AN PROBLEM WITH SPEED SENSING (AS IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V379000), THE SYSTEM SHOULD BE ABLE TO DETECT INCONSISTENT SENSOR READINGS AND RENDER THE ABS SYSTEM INTO A PASSIVE MODE AS A FAIL SAFE MEASURE. *TR
