Vehicle was involved in motor vehicle collision. This unit was struck broadside by a semi resulting in the cab and box of this unit to separate from the frame. The frame of this unit, cab, and box all came to final rest in different locations in the scene with the driver remaining in the driver seat.
FRAME IS RUSTY TO THE POINT OF BEING A SAFETY HAZARD. JUST ABOUT EVERY SILVERADO FROM 1999 TO 2013 I SEE ON THE ROAD HAS A VERY RUSTY FRAME. MEANWHILE A FRIEND'S COUSIN HAS A 1969 CHEVROLET C-10 PICKUP THAT HAS SEEN MANY WINTERS AND BEEN SITTING IN A FIELD, AND THAT FRAME LOOKS 100 TIMES BETTER THAN MY 2004. THIS IS A CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. ALSO MY BRAKE LINES RUSTED AND BURST ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT (ANOTHER VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN LEFT IGNORED). TO WHOMEVER IS READING THIS, THINK ABOUT ANY FAMILY MEMBERS WITH A SILVERADO AND WHAT DANGER THEY CAN FACE FROM A COMPANY THAT GOT AWAY WITH DARK METHODS AND IS FACING ZERO PUNISHMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROCKER PANELS LOCATED UNDER THE DOORS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE STEEL INSIDE THE ROCKER PANEL WAS NOT PAINTED AND CONTRIBUTED TO THE RUSTING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILIABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
REPLACED ALL BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH 107,000 MILES ON A 2004 TRUCK. ALUMINUM WHEELS ARE PITTED APPEARS TO BE LOSING THE COATIING THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS SHOWING RUST. HEADLINER IS FALLING DOWN IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE REAR RADIO SPEAKERS ARE NOT WORKING
I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I NOTICED I HAD TO START PUTTING THE BRAKES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO STOP, ESPECIALLY ON AN INCLINE. THE BRAKE LIGHT WENT ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES SO I TOOK IT TO A SHOP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKE LINE BLEW AND ALL THE OTHER BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND THE TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS TRUCK IS ONLY 11 YEARS OLD, THAT IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 108K MILES. I CALLED A LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY QUOTED ME 3K+ TO FIX IT. IT INVOLVED AT LEAST 20 HOURS OF LABOR AND THEY NEEDED TO LIFT THE FRAME OFF TO FIX. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THEIR ARE NO RECALLS FROM GM OR ATLEAST THEM OFFERING ANY HELP TO PAY FOR THIS. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ME ANY HELP OR REMEDY TO THE SITUATION, JUST WANTED ME TO FORK UP 3K.
WHEN I LEFT OUR GARAGE I NOTICED THAT THE RED BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT WAS ON. USUALLY MY HUSBAND DRIVES THIS TO WORK BUT WE SWITCHED VEHICLES BECAUSE I NEEDED TO HAUL A TRAILER TO HELP MOVE MY DAUGHTER. I HAVE ONLY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ONE OTHER TIME SO I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH HOW IT HANDLED. I NOTICED THAT I HAD TO PRESS HARD TO STOP BUT THOUGHT THAT WAS HOW IT HANDLED. I DROVE OVER 120 MILES WITH IT THIS WAY, I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT, BY THE TIME I PULLED INTO OUR DRIVE, I COULD BARELY STOP THE VEHICLE. MY HUSBAND CAME OUT TO RELEASE THE TRAILER OUT BACK. HE GOT IN AND SAID, "WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE BRAKES?" I SAID, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" HE TOLD ME I HAD NO BRAKES AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. IT WAS A NEAR MISS INCIDENT BUT I HAVE FOUND (AS A FORMER SAFETY MANAGER) THAT THOSE NEAR MISS INCIDENTS OFTEN SHOW A ROOT CAUSE) THAT IN THE FUTURE MEANS SOMETHING. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE EVER IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO RECOUP THE MONEY WE WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. *TR
I WAS BACKING UP TO HOOK UP MY UTILITY TRAILER AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRAILER HITCH CRASHED INTO THE BUMPER OF THE TRUCK..THE BRAKE LINES HAD ROTTED THROUGH AND THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THIS TRUCK IS SEVERELY RUSTED.JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE NEXT ISSUE WITH OTHER LINES OR FRAME BREAKAGE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE INTERSTATE AND TRAFFIC ABRUPTLY STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, I SLOWED DOWN A LITTLE, BUT THEN THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND I REAR-ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER THE POLICE REPORT WAS FILED, I GOT IT TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT ONE OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS RUSTED AND HAD BURST, SPILLING ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID. THE WRECK DAMAGED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BUMPER, AND BROKE THE GRILLE AND THE HEADLIGHT SUPPORT BRACKET. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A VEHICLE BODY SPECIALIST FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE HEADLINER BORDER FRAME AND SEALANT WERE DEFECTIVE. AS A RESULT, ADDITIONAL FABRIC AND SEALANT WAS NEEDED TO REINFORCE THE DEFECTIVE LINER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE DEFECTIVE LINER WAS NOT RECALLED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

DOOR LATCH PASSENGER SIDE FAILED WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE DOOR TO SWING OPEN AND PASSENGER TO ALMOST FALL OUT. PASSENGER WAS KEPT IN VEHICLE BY SAFETY BELT. NO INJURIES BUT QUITE A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST LATCH FAILURE ON THIS VEHICLE, THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ALSO HAD A LATCH FAILURE APPROX. A YEAR EARLIER. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE LATCH SPRINGS RUSTING THOUGH AND THE LATCH RELEASING. SPOKE WITH OTHER OWNERS THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, ALSO SPOKE WITH THE DEALERS REPAIR SHOP, NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR AS WELL, THE PART IS $175 PLUS LABOR FOR EACH LATCH. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE TRAILER HITCH BENT ABNORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE TRAILER HITCH COULD TOW UP 10,000 POUNDS AND THE CONTACT WAS TOWING 4,700 POUNDS OF PAY LOAD. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY SO THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT THE TRAILER COULD HAVE DISCONNECTED AND CAUSED A CRASH DUE TO THE INACCURACY OF THE TOW LOAD LIMIT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS BEING INSPECTED AT THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, THE HOOD OF THE CAR CAME DOWN ABRUPTLY ON THE MECHANICS HEAD AND NECK. THE MECHANIC SUSTAINED SOME BRUISES ON THE BACK OF HIS NECK AND HEAD. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 194,399.
ROCKER PANNELS AND CAB CORNERS GONE DUE TO RUST. NEITHER DODGE OR FORD OF THE SAME ERA HAVE RUSTED TO THE EXTREME MY CHEVY HAS. CHEVY REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT FOR YEARS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE FAILED WHERE THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS ATTACH TO THE FRONT FRAME. AS A RESULT, HE CANNOT USE THE VEHICLE FOR SNOW-PLOWING, WHICH IS ITS PRIMARY USE. 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP TAILGATE CABLE FAILURE. -- I WAS INJURED TODAY WHILE LOADING MY RIDING LAWN MOWER ONTO THE BACK OF MY PICKUP. THE CABLES (WHICH APPEAR RUSTED WITHIN) SNAPPED ALLOWING THE LAWN MOWER AND MYSELF TO FALL OFF THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. I NARROWLY MISSED BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED. SHEAR LUCK ALLOWED ME TO BE THROWN OUT OF THE WAY. *JB
YESTERDAY I WAS STANDING ON MY TAILGATE TO STRAP DOWN THE LUMBER ON MY OVERHEAD RACK. SUDDENLY THE TAILGATE COLLAPSE DOWN AND SLAMS INTO MY BUMPER. I WAS SHAKEN BUT NOT HURT. I WAS LOOKING AT MY TAILGATE TO DETERMINE WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED, I NOTICED THAT BOTH CABLES THAT HOLD UP THE TAILGATE WERE BROKEN APART IN THE CENTER OF EACH OF THEM. THEY LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD RUSTED. WHEN THE TAILGATE HIT THE BUMPER IT CAUSED A DENT IN THE BACK OF THE TAILGATE. *NM
