UPPER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINTS FAILED IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS
Front Suspension repaired fixed but did not fixed the vibration in front tires. Front Driver Side Hub and Bearing Assembly Failed since I had truck(used). Had front end redone but wheel still vibrated and took it too dealership July 3, 2021 and stated the Hub and Bearing grinding and growling and activates abs lights. Fuel line needs replace due to rust problems and dealership stated that the pump and retaining cam are very rusted and has a spot on the pump that is wet but not soaking wet(fail dealership looking for lawsuit for fire hazard). Fuel lines are rusted so whole truck needs repair. I spent $5400 on used truck and putting more money into it with repairs due to rust, parts and labor which is stupid as some parts do not take long if dealership have tools. I don't know incident as there no accident or anything.
I HAVE HAD A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB BECAUSE ALL OF THE LINES RUSTED OUT AND FAILED AS I WAS DRIVING. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP SAFELY. I SPENT ROUGH.Y $3,000 TO GET THIS REPAIRED. NOW THE FUEL LINES, FUEL COOLER AND EVERYTHING ATTACHED HAS RUSTED OUT TO THE POINT THAT IT IS GOING TO BE AN ADDITIONA $2,500 TO REPAIR THIS. ALSO, THE COMPLETE UNDER CARRIAGE AND REAR END HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT I AM EXPECTING IT TO FAIL AT ANY TIME. THIS IS NOT ONLY A DANGEROUS SITUATION, BUT IS EXTREMELY COSTLY TO THE CONSUMER, ME. WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED, I WAS DRIVING ON A STREET APPROACHING A BUSY INTERSECTION. WITH NO WARNING AT ALL, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BRAKES. THE REPAIR FACILITY MECHANIC SAID HE HAS NEVER SEEN A SYSTEM SO BAD. I KEEP THE VEHICLE IN A GARAGE AND HAVE WASHED THE UNDER CARRIAGE IN THE WINTER TO KEEP ROAD SALT FROM ACCUMULATING.

I REALIZE THAT THIS VEHICLE IS WELL OUT OF THE 3 YEAR 36,000 MILE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. BUT LATELY WITH HOW RAPIDLY THIS TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 70,000 MILES SEEMS TO BE FALLING APART ON ME ITS JUST REALLY BEEN FRUSTRATING. I'VE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE SHOP LESS THAN TWO WEEKS FOR FRONT WHEEL BEARING/ ABS SENSOR REPAIR WHEN MY SPEEDOMETER COMPLETELY WENT OUT. MOST OF THE TIME SPEEDOMETER IS READING 0 MPH OCCASIONALLY IT WILL FLUTTER BETWEEN 5-10 MPH. READING ONLINE I SEE GM EXTENDED THEIR SPEEDOMETER WARRANTY TO 7 YRS/70K MILES. I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION ON NJ STATE ROUTE 10 WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED YELLOW. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDDLE WENT TO ABOUT ONE TO TWO INCHES OFF THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK COULD NOT STOP, AND WENT THOUGH THE LIGHT AS IS TURNED RED. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND STOP. I FOUND FLUID LEAKING UNDER THE TRUCK AND COULD SEE IT WAS FROM A FAILED BRAKE LINE. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND A MECHANIC. I FOUND OUT THAT THE BRAKE LINE WERE ALL RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ROTORS, CALIPERS, BRAKE PADS, E BRAKE CABLE AND SHOCKS WHERE REPLACED. *TR
WE HAD A LIFE THREATENING EVENT ON OCTOBER 19, 2011. THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS BROKEN AND THE RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS CRACKED READY TO BREAK. THIS WAS DISCOVERED WHEN WE WENT FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. WE HAD TO HAVE THEM REPAIR IT IMMEDIATELY DUE TO THE DANGER OF THE PROBLEM. THE PITMAN ARM AND IDLER ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. WE DON'T HAVE A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP HERE. THEY SAID THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE DEFECTIVE. WE USE THIS TRUCK ONLY FOR PLEASURE, NO HAULING. WE E-MAILED THE CHEVROLET CONSUMER SUPPORT CENTER AND THEY GAVE US A SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER. WE WERE REQUESTED BY THEM TO COMMUNICATE BY PHONE. WE CALLED THEM ON OCTOBER 21, 2011 AND THEY REQUESTED THE ALIGNMENT SHOP'S PHONE NUMBER. ON OCTOBER 25, 2011, THEY CALLED US AND SAID THAT THIS WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY DIDN'T SEEMED TO BE CONCERNED THAT THE PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE. WE WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW OF THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM SINCE THERE MAY BE MORE DEFECTIVE LOWER CONTROL ARMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC ATTEMPTED TO ORDER THE PART FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE AXLE WOULD NEED TO BE PURCHASED AND REPLACED BECAUSE THE PART WAS NOT SOLD SEPARATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED WHEN HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE CALIPER AND BRAKE PADS WERE LOOSE AND FLOPPING AROUND. THE MECHANIC REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF PROBLEM. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD NOT BE INSPECTED UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEEK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 91,200.
ALMOST WENT OFF ROAD ON A CORNER, WITH ONLY 53,000 MILES ON IT. TOOK IT INTO LESSCWABS AND THEY SAID THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND HUBS WERE SHOT AND THE WHEEL WAS READY TO FALL OFF. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL CHEVY SILVERADOS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH EVEN LESS MILEAGE ON. CALLED CHEVY THEY SAID THEY HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL OR HELP WITH FIXING THE PROBLEM. IT COST APROX 900.00. TO FIX @ SCHAWBS. *TR

I HAVE A2004 CHEVY 3500 SILVERADO, WITH 50,000 MILES ON, I NOTICED A CLICKING NOISE IN THE RIGHT FRONT. WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL WAS LOOSE ON THE TRUCK. THE WHEEL BEARING WAS LOOSE. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND DISCUSSED THE BEARING FAILURE. I GOT THE NEW BEARING AND STARTED TO DO THE REPAIR. I NOTICED THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED NEW YET, BUT THE BEARING WAS COMING APART. THE BEARING IS A SEALED UNIT-IT IS PRESSED TOGETHER. THE BEARING IS NOT MANUFACTURED PROPERLY- IT IS NOT PRESSED TOGETHER RIGHT SO THAT THE FRONT TIRE COULD FALL OFF AND CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. I AM SURE THERE IS ALOT OF FAILURE ON THESE BEARINGS AND THIS SHOULD BE CHECKED OUT. WHEN THESE BEARINGS FAIL BECAUSE OF THE PRESSED FIT, THEY SELF DESTRUCT VIOLENTLY AND THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN LOOK AT IT AFTER IT FAILS UNLESS YOU CATCH IT EARLY. THERE WAS A BUMPING NOISE NOTED COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE LEFT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY FOR THE CHEVY 2500HD FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITH DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLE WAS ALSO LOOSE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THREE OTHER COMPLETE HUBS, SO THIS MEANS THAT A TOTAL OF SIX HUBS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS CONFIRMED WITH THE DEALER THAT THESE HUB ASSEMBLIES HAVE NO GREASE FITTINGS AND ONLY COME WITH WHATEVER GREASE IS IN THE HUB AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT WITH A LOSS OF LIFE. THIS IS REPORTED IN THE HOPE THAT A FULL AND COMPLETE INVESTIGATION IS CONDUCTED PRIOR TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WITH A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND A RESULTING LOSS OF PROPERTY AND LIVES. THE FAB TECH COMPANY ALSO REFUSES TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY STATED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN MANY TIE ROD FAILURES WITH THE TIE RODS ON GM TRUCKS FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THAT THAT THEY HAVE DESIGNED LARGER DIAMETER TIE RODS THAT ARE SOLD AS UPGRADED EQUIPMENT WITH THEIR LIFT KITS. THE 2004 SILVERADO 1500 CONTINUED TO GIVE PROBLEMS. I HAD THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER REPLACED RECENTLY TO RESOLVE THAT ISSUE, BUT THE VEHICLE SHIMMIED AND BOUNCED AS IT WENT DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I KNEW IT WAS THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THIS EXPERIENCE ON MY OTHER CARS ON THE SAME HIGHWAY. *AK
