TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER FAILED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE AIR CONDITIONING SWITCH ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE BLOWER TO WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL GARAGE WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AS THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER WIRING CONNECTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,800. UPDATED 08/31/11 *BF UPDATED 2/10/12 *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE AT A STOP SIGN AND THE ABS SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED AN EXTRA TEN FEET BEFORE STOPPING. THE FAILURE HAD RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ABS SENSOR AND THE HUBS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABS LIGHT WAS IN WORKING ORDER, BUT IT DID NOT COME ON WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. UPDATED 01/09/13

MY TRUCK HAS HAD 2 SETS OF BRAKES 4 WHEEL SPEED SENSORS ANOTHER SET OF CALIPERS AND NEW TIRES. THE BRAKE LOCKED PULLING MY BOAT THANK GOD IT WAS RAINING OUTSIDE . THE STERRING WHEEL IS SHAKING, I GOT ANOTHER ALINEMENT THAT DID NOT HELP, SO I WENT TO SEE THE WHEELS NEED BALANCED AND IT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF STERRING WHEEL SHAKING. I REALLY DONT LIKE THE MY WATER SPILLING IN THE DRINK HOLER BECAUSE MY TRUCK IS SHAKING. HELP ME IF YOU SEE THIS SOON. I SEE ALLOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE IN THE WORLD OF CHEVY THAT HAS THE SAME ISSUSES I HAVE HAD WITH MY TRUCK. EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND I HAVE TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO GET IT REPAIR, ALL OUT OF WARRENTY 5600 MILES. THE NOISE THAT MY STEERING COLUMN MAKES EVERYONE SAYS NOT TO WORRY. MY RIMS ARE SO PITTED ON MY TRUCK IT LOOKS LIKE POOP.YOU KNOW WHAT I PAID $33,000 FOR THIS CHEVY TRUCK AND I DONT LIKE NOISE THAT IS NOT SUSPOSE TO BE THERE/ONE MECHENCIL SAID HE COULED FILL MY COLUMN WITH GREASE BUT THAT WOULD LAST. WAS DRIVING MY 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD AND TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONER. I BEGAN TO SMELL AN ODOR SIMILAR TO TRASH BURNING. I TURNED OFF THE AC AND TURNED ON JUST THE AIR FAN AT WHICH TIME THE TRUCK CAB FILLED WITH SMOKE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CONTACTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE FAN CONTINUED TO FILL THE CAB WITH SMOKE EVEN THOUGH THE IGNITION WAS OFF AND THE KEYS WERE REMOVED. THE INCIDENT DID NOT STOP UNTIL THE FD DISCONNECTED THE BATTERIES FROM THE TRUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALER AND THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SHORT IN AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER WIRING HARNESS WHICH RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE RELAY, THEY CHECKED WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO AUTHORIZE REPAIR UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND TOLD ME IT IS NOT COVERED AS IT IS AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 LT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE REAR PADS AND SHOES WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE REAR SHOES AND PADS. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER, THE NOISE HAD RETURNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000.
THE ABS ON MY 2006 SILVERADO ACTIVATES ON LOW SPEED STOPS ON DRY PAVEMENT CAUSING THE BRAKES TO RELEASE. IT IS NOT THE TYPICAL ABS ACTION THAT MOST PEOPLE ARE FAMILIAR WITH, WHERE THE BRAKES RELEASE AND APPLY - IT IS THE BRAKES RELEASING AND NOT REAPPLYING UNDER PRESSURE, WHILE FOOT IS ON BRAKE. I HAVE GONE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WHILE TOWING A HORSE TRAILER AND HAD MANY NEAR-MISS INCIDENTS COMING INTO TOLL BOOTHS, STOP SIGNS AND RED LIGHTS. HAVE ALMOST REAR-ENDED VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ITEM. IT IS DANGEROUS, VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND PRONE TO HAPPEN AGAIN ONCE FIXED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY LOOSE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED A CRACK ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A 15' HIGH ROCK BERM AT 50 MPH. AFTER HITTING THE ROCKS THE TRUCK LIFTED AND FLIPPED ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE. FOUR OF FIVE OCCUPANTS SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING COLLISION. *TR
ABS ACTIVATION AT SLOW SPEEDS PREVENTING STOPPING OF VEHICLE. DEALER AND GM REFUSED TO PARTICIPATE IN REPAIR, STATED THE SENSORS WERE CONTAMINATED FROM RUST AND THEREFORE NOT DEFECTIVE, THE PROBLEM IS ENVIRONMENTAL AND WE CANNOT ASSIST YOU WITH THE REPAIR.. THERE IS NO ABS WARNING LIGHT COMING ON AND THIS IS IDENTICAL TO THE PROBLEM FOUND ON EARLIER MODELS 1999-2002 WHICH WERE RECALLED. I WAS TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS @ A COST OF 460.00 DOLLARS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP CAUSING IT TO SURGE FORWARD, IT WILL CAUSE A COLLISION.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS HE DECELERATED FROM 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPONGY AND WAS DEPRESSED INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHO INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND DISCOVERED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES AND CALIPERS WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE CONTACT REPAIRED THE BRAKE LINES AND CALIPERS AT A COST OF $739. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE CLUTCH PEDAL IN FIRST GEAR WHEN IT REMAINED ON THE FLOOR AND DID NOT RELEASE. HE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE PEDAL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE SLAVE CYLINDER TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND REPAIRED THE CLUTCH PEDAL, CLUTCH, AND SLAVE CYLINDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,630.
AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE ABS WILL ACTIVATE FOR NO REASON. APART FROM BEING AN ANNOYANCE, THIS ALSO CAUSES A LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH POSES A HAZARD IF THERE IS ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF YOU. THE RIGHT SENSOR WAS REPLACED IN 3/2011 AND THE LEFT SENSOR WAS REPLACED IN 11/2012. IT SEEMS ODD THAT BOTH WOULD FAIL AND JUDGING BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE LISTED ON HERE AND MULTIPLE OTHER WEBSITES, I THINK IT'S TIME FOR GM TO STEP UP AND ADMIT A CONTINUED PROBLEM WITH THIS. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE UP TO 2002, I THINK IT'S TIME IT IS EXTENDED. *TR
HUB BEARINGS STARTRED TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND TRANSMISSION FRONT SEAL STARTED TO LEAK. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO Z71 WITH ONLY 41260 MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING WITH SO LOW MILES. TRIED TO GET IT FIXED BUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I HAVE WILL NOT TOUCH IT BECAUSE IT IS LIFTED. THE PROBLEUM EXISTED BEFOR ANY LIFT. TH CERTIFIED PERSON WHO LIFTED MY TRUCK TOLD ME ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION LEAK. I THOUGHT THE NOISE MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE BRAKES BUT HE TOLD ME THAT THE HUB BEARINGD SOUND LIKE THEY ARE DRY. I BROUGHT STRAIGHT TO TRAPP CHEVROLET THE WHEN I GOT BACK FROM WORK. I GUARANTEE IF IT WAS BOUGHT WITH A LIFT THEY WOULD OF FIXED IT. I WASNT TOLD THAT IF I LIFTED IT IT WOULD VOID A POWERTRAIN ON MY WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEUM WAS THERE BERORE. THAT IS A LOOP HOLE FOR THEM. THIS IS WRONG. *TR
ABS SENSOR(S) OPERATE WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP REGARDLESS OF ROAD CONDITIONS. THIS INITIALLY HAPPENED ONLY OCCASIONALLY BUT NOW IS NEARLY CONSTANT AND REPAIR IS NEEDED. GM DEALER INITIALLY HAD NO CLUE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING BUT ALSO FOUND PLAY IN RIGHT FRONT HUB, INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS MANY DRIVERS WITH SAME PROBLEMS IN SENSORS AND HUBS BUT NO RECALL FROM GM. WHY? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH ENTERING A DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD GRINDING AND SQUEAKING NOISE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL BEARING HAD FRACTURED SEVERELY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,780.
AT LOW SPEEDS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WILL FUNCTION AND PULSE CAUSING AN EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCE. ALONG WITH IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE IT IS ALSO AN ANNOYING NUISANCE ALWAYS HEARING THE LOUD PULSING OF THE ABS BRAKES.

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL FAN SWITCH WIRES WERE BURNED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEAT WOULD NOT ACTIVATE ON THE HIGH SETTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE HEATER SWITCH WAS FOUND TO BE MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL YEARS LATER IN WHICH THE HEATER SWITCH OVERHEATED AND CAUSED THE DASHBOARD TO CATCH ON FIRE. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THERE WAS A WIRE SHORTAGE UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK DOWN THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON AND A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD STATING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THE TRUCK SHUT ITSELF DOWN TO 10 MILES AN HOUR IN SECONDS. I HAD VEHICLES COMING UP BEHIND ME TRAVELING AT 60 MPH AND HIGHER THAT NEARLY HIT ME FROM BEHIND. EVEN IF I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SPEED UP MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP HAD MY TRUCK 2 DAYS AND CHARGED ME $400.00 FOR AN EMISSIONS PART. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP ON THURSDAY EVENING, JAN. 20, 2011, AND IT BROKEN DOWN THE VERY NEXT MORNING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK OVER THERE AND THEY TOLD ME TO RETURN IT ON MONDAY JAN. 24 WHICH I DID. THEY RETURNED THE TRUCK TO ME ON WEDS. JAN. 26, AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BUT MAY HAVE BEEN A LOOSE WIRE. THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN WITH THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN ON FEB 14. THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT ANOTHER 3 DAYS AND SAID THEY SOLDERED SOME CONNECTIONS. AGAIN ON MARCH 10, MY TRUCK BROKE DOWN AGAIN, SAME ISSUE. THEY HAD MY TRUCK UNTIL MARCH 14, AND AGAIN CHARGED ME FOR REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS AND THROTTLE BODY. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP AT 6 PM MON MARCH 14 AND IT ALREADY BROKE DOWN AGAIN THIS MORNING MARCH 16, SAME ISSUE. ON TWO OCCASIONS NOW I HAVE HAD MY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT, DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE ENGINE DECIDES TO SHUT ITSELF DOWN. NO ONE AT CHEVY SEEMS TO CARE IF WE ARE INJURED OR KILLED WHEN WE ARE HIT DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE TRUCK. I AM NOT THE ONLY CHEVY OWNER REPORTING THIS PROBLEM. NOT ONLY ARE THERE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAD ANOTHER TRUCK IN AT THE SAME TIME AS MINE AT THE MARCH 10 VISIT, WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND IT HAD ALREADY BEEN IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AS WELL.
I SEE YOU RECALLING BMW CARS FOR LIGHTS FAILING! WHY DON'T YOU RECALL GM TRUCKS AND SUV'S FOR FAILING RUNNING LIGHTS? FROM THEIR INTRODUCTION THEY HAVE BEEN ADVERTISED AS A SAFETY FEATURE! I WOULD GUESS 97% OF ALL GM TRUCKS AND SUV'S HAVE ONE OR BOTH OF THE LIGHTS NOT WORKING! AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW!! MY 2006 SILVERADO HAS HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT REPLACED 4 TIMES. IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH ADVERTISED AS SUCH, IT COST OWNERS A BIG SUM OF MONEY TO KEEP REPAIRING THEM BECAUSE OF GM'S OBVIOUS FAULTY DESIGN!! WHY DOES GM GET A PASS BUT BMW DOES NO? THERE HAS BEEN A LONG TIME PROBLEM OF BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ON 1999 TO 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO AND GMC SIERRA PICKUPS. THIS PROBLEM IS ON 80 TO 90 PERCENT OF THE TRUCKS WITH IN THEM YEARS THIS IS MILLIONS OF VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED BY GENERAL MOTORS DUE TO EPA LAWS AND EMISSION STANDARDS NOT BEING ABLE TO BE PASSED WHEN THESE BOLTS BREAK. *TR
I PURCHASED (4) NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER AT 265/70/17 TIRES ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. EVER SINCE I'VE HAD THEM I'VE BEEN HAVING A SLIDING PROBLEM. WHEN I ALMOST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE TIRES START SLIDING ON DRY AND DIRT FREE PAVEMENT AND ACTIVATES MY ABS. MY ABS SENSORS ARE NOT DIRTY. I'VE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH TIRES LIKE I DO WITH THESE. IT CAN BE DANGEROUS AND VERY SURPRISING AT TIMES WHEN I DRIVE WITH THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING. I SENT THE MANUFACTURER A COMPLAINT EMAIL. BUT NEVER GOT A RESPONSE. MY LOCAL DEALER SAYS IT'S A TIRE PROBLEM. ONLY THING I CAN DO IS DISABLE THE ABS. BUT EVEN IF I DO THAT IT WON'T STOP THE SLIDING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OIL BEGAN LEAKING FROM THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER REGARDING THE LEAK AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO LOCATE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE REGARDING THE FAILURE FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
WHILE TRYING TO STOP VEHICLE, WHILE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED, BRAKES RELEASED AND LOST BRAKING POWER, CONTINUING TO GO FORWARD WITH VERY LIMITED ABILITY TO STOP THE VEHICLE. STOPPING OF VEHICLE WAS ACHIEVED BY CONTINUING MULTIPLE TIMES TO RE-ENGAGE THE BRAKES EACH TIME THE BRAKES RELEASED AND LOST POWER. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED AND TESTED THE BRAKES. THEY FOUND BOTH FRONT ABS SENSORS DROPPING OUT DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE CHEVROLET RECALL FOR SILVERADO MODELS UP TO YEAR 2002, CORROSION IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THEY FOLLOWED THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THE RECALL. BECAUSE MY 2006 WAS NOT IN THE RECALL, I PAID $165 FOR THE WORK. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE MY EXPENSE UNLESS THEY EXTEND THE RECALL. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS OTHER OWNERS OF SILVERADOS MANUFACTURED AFTER 2002 ARE ALSO HAVING THE PROBLEM. NHTSA SHOULD BE PUSHING CHEVROLET TO EXTEND THE RECALL BECAUSE IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND IT'S NOT ISOLATED TO JUST A FEW VEHICLES.
2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 6.6 LITER TURBO DIESEL. TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES ARE LEAKING. BOTH THE LOWER TRANS. COOLER LINE AND TRANS. COOLER LINE FROM THE RADIATOR TO THE AUX. TRUCK HAS 59 000 MILES ON IT. ISSUE HAS BEEN REPAIRED BY DEALER THAT INFORMED THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND THAT LINES QUALITY ARE TO BLAME DEFINITELY NOT WEAR AND TEAR( REF MODEL AND MILEAGE).WHY IS THERE NO FACTORY RECALL ON THIS FAILURE? *TR
INTERMITTENTLY THE DRIVER'S HEATED SEAT WILL COME ON BY ITSELF AND EACH TIME I TRY TO TURN IT OFF IT GOES BACK ON. THE SEAT GETS EXTREMELY HOT AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE I CONTINUALLY AM TRYING TO TURN IT OFF. SHOP IS STILL TRYING TO DIAGNOSIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER, THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED HE FELT AN UNUSUAL BUMP AND SUDDENLY, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WAS ABNORMALLY TURNED INWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HUB BEARING WAS FRACTURED. BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07E106000, (WHEELS: CAP/COVER/HUB). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,100.

SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY $700 TO HAVE THE LINES REPLACED, WHICH WILL PROBABLY END UP LEAKING AGAIN. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT, AS I HAVE 3 OTHER CHEVY TRUCKS, NONE OF WHICH HAVE EVER LEAKED FROM THE TRANS LINES, AND SOME ARE OVER 10YRS OLD. *TR

THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES NUMEROUS TIMES, THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY SLOWED DOWN. THE FAILURE ONLY RECURRED WHEN DRIVING 10 MPH OR LESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL PERTAINING TO THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HEARD A RATTLING NOISE, WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE DRIVE LINE WAS LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS AND THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED AT HIS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 136,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,500.
AT LOW SPEEDS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WILL FUNCTION AND PULSE CAUSING AN EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCE. ALONG WITH IT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE IT IS ALSO AN ANNOYING NUISANCE ALWAYS HEARING THE LOUD PULSING OF THE ABS BRAKES.
WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A 60 MPH HIGHWAY IN MY 2006 CHEVROLET C1500 TRUCK MY RIGHT REAR AXLE CAME COMPLETELY OUT WITH TIRE STILL ATTACHED. THANK GOD I HAD SLOWED TO ABOUT 20 MPH TO MAKE THE LEFT TURN WHEN IT HAPPENED OR A CRASH COULD HAVE RESULTED. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE AS I SAID I WAS ON A HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH AND IF THE AXLE HAD COME OUT AT THAT SPEED IT COULD HAVE BEEN BAD. THE FAILURE SEEMS TO BE THAT THE END OF THE AXLE BROKE OFF WHERE THE KEEPER GOES. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE THE AXLE REPLACED AND I WILL HAVE THE OLD PART. AT 36,000 MILES I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END WHEN I TURNED. THE SAID THEY REPLACED A BROKEN PIN IN THE STEERING BOX. EIGHT MONTHS LATER I BEGAN TO HEAR A OCCASIONAL GROWLING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT ON CURVES AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MPH. I ALSO BEGAN HEARING THE TICKING NOISE AGAIN WHEN MAKING TURNS AT LOW SPEEDS. IT COST ME 600.00 TO HAVE THE DRIVERS SIDE BEARING REPLACED. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT TIRES FOR UNEVEN WEAR. I HAVE TALKED TO 3 OTHER INDIVIDUALS THAT OWN THIS TRUCK ( 04 -06) AND THEY HAVE ALL HAD TO REPLACE THE WHEEL BEARING. GM HAS TO BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE WHEEL BEARINGS DO NOT WEAR OUT THIS QUICKLY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH WHEN THE SIDEWALL BLEW ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE TIRES WERE LABELED AS HAVING A LIFESPAN UP TO 60,000 MILES BUT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT 16,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THE FAILURE IN THE MANNER IN WHICH IT OCCURRED. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,085.
WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP WHERE INTENDED. THIS DELAYED BRAKING CAN CAUSE REAR ENDING OF THE CAR AHEAD OF YOU OR UNINTENTIONALLY ENTERING AN INTERSECTION. THE TECHNICAL BULLETIN PUT OUT BY GM SUGGESTS THAT THE CAUSE MAY BE DUE TO RUST AND DEBRIS BUILT UP ON THE SENOR MOUNTING SURFACE AND INCLUDES INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING. MY MECHANIC FOLLOWED THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND THEY DID NOT WORK. THE ONLY FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE ALL FOUR SENSORS FOR A COST OF WELL OVER $1000. GM RECALLED 2001 SILVERADO'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEN CONTINUED TO USE THE FAULTY SENORS IN LATER MODELS AND DID NOT RECALL THE 2006. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF 2006 SILVERADO OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

THE REPAIR SHOP INFORMED THE CONSUMER A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR HER MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A RECALL ON HIS TYPE OF VEHICLE, BUT HER VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *JB
