BRAKES PULSATE WHEN APPLIED. DEALER FOUND REAR BRAKE ROTORS OUT OF ROUND AND RESURFACED REAR BRAKE ROTORS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WOULD STALL INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. CONSUMER MADE CONTACT WITH DEALERSHIP. *AK
THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY SWITCHES INTO A 4 WHEEL DRIVE (4WD) AND 4WD MODES ON ITS OWN DURING NORMAL 2WD OPERATION. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE ONBOARD COMPUTER RECORDED NO SUCH OCCURRENCES, AND THEREFORE IS IGNORING THE PROBLEM. NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FILED ON THIS NHTSA WEB SITE INDICATE THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZER WHICH MERE REPLACEMENT OF THE 2WD/4WD SWITCHER MODULE WILL NOT REMEDY. THIS FACT--TAKEN ALONG WITH FREQUENTLY BURNING OUT BULBS (RUNNING LIGHTS AS WELL AS BRAKE LIGHTS)--SUGGEST THAT A POSSIBLE LARGER YET MORE FUNDAMENTAL ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEM IS WHAT'S PLAGUING AN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *NLM FOUR CIRCUIT BOARDS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT MELTED. CHEVROLET STATED THAT THIS WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM. *SCC *JB
AT MEDIUM TO HIGH SPEEDS TRANSFER CASE ENGAGES WITHOUT WARNING.*AK
ON AT LEAST 6 OCCASIONS MY TRAILBLAZER WOULD NOT START, AND ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID SPILLED ALL OVER THE ROAD AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK CAME. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME ITS THE ALARM SYSTEM, BUT THE ALARM IS NOT OUT OF THE CAR AND IT STILL DOESN'T START SOME TIME. *PH
I OWN A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS. I CURRENTLY HAVE 37,000 MILES AND THEREFORE AM OUT OF MY INITIAL WARRANTY PERIOD. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE TO HAVE MY BRAKE LIGHT CIRCUIT BOARD REPLACED BECAUSE WATER KEEPS GETTING INTO THE AREA CAUSING SHORTS IN THE BOARD. WATER COMES OFF THE REAR TIRES AND DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH THE TAIL LIGHT CASING AND MAKES CONTACT WITH THE CIRCUIT BOARD BECAUSE THERE IS NO PROTECTION FOR THE BOARD. NOW THAT MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY I AM FORCED TO CONTINUE REPLACING THIS ITEM EVERY TIME IT OCCURS. THIS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN TRAFFIC. ALSO, INDIVIDUALS CAN BE TICKETED FOR THIS PROBLEM.*AK
RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT DOES NOT WORK WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, ALMOST A YEAR. I HAVE CHANGED THE BRAKE LIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES AND THE TAIL LIGHT STILL WILL NOT WORK.*AK
REAR VIEW OUTSIDE MIRRORS CHANGE SETTINGS UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. DEALER HAD ONE RECALL. DIDN'T FIX PROBLEM. ............ ALSO INTERMITTENT LOSS OF HIGH BEAM..... THEY EITHER COME ON OR DON'T COME ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR.
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT UPSHIFT. ENGINE AT 3000 RPM WILL NOT GO OVER 10 - 12 MPH. THIS WILL LAST FROM 1/4 TO A MILE. NO POWER. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER, SAYS THAT GM KNOWS OF PROBLEM. REGIONAL REPRESNTATIVE GEORGE BELL DOES NOT RETURN CALLS. NO HELP FROM GM. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THEY LOST STEERING CONTROL CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. DEALER NOTIFIED. *PH CONSUMER WAS CUT OFF BY A TRUCK LOSING CONTROL. REGAINED CONTROL THEN BRAKES FELT LIKE A LACK OF PRESSURE. STEERING LOOSENED THEN LOCKED UP CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. GM STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS. CONSUMER AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY FEELS THERE IS. INSURANCE CO. STATED IT COULD'VE BEEN THE VACUUM TO THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN OR THE LOWER CONTROL PANEL SNAPPING WHICH CAUSES THESE SYMPTOMS. *PH
THE WIPER MOTOR FAILED TO OPERATE AFTER RUNNING THE CAR THROUGH A HIGH PRESSURE CAR WASH. THIS IS THE 5TH FAILURE OF THE WIPER MOTER SINCE NOVEMBER 2002.*AK
I HAVE MOTORIZED MEMORY MIRRORS ON MY 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE MEMORY FUNCTION DOES NOT PROPERLY WORK, AND ON OCCASION THE SIDEVIEW MIRRORS WILL MOVE WHILE I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS EXTRAORDINARILY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH ODOMETER DROPPED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN TO 10 MPH. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
VEHICLE CONSTANTLY DISPLAYS "SERVICE ENGINE LAMP", AIR BAG MODULE HAD A PROBLEM, REAR BRAKE LAMPS BLEW OUT, 4 WHEEL DRIVE MECHANISM ON DASH WAS REPLACED, IGNITION NEVER TURNED OFF ALL THE WAY, KILLED BATTERY BECAUSE IT DRAINED BATTERY. *NM
IT APPEARS THE TRUCK IS SUFFERING FROM A MAJOR COMPUTER DEFECT. WITH ALL FUSES IN TACT, MANY FUNCTIONS NO LONGER WORK (REMOTE ACCESS, RADIO FUNCTIONS AFTER IGNITION TURN OFF, AUTOMATIC VOLUME INCREASE ON RADIO WHEN ACCELERATING). ADDITIONALLY, THE 4X4 TORQUE CONVERTER SWITCH DOES NOT LIGHT UP AND APPEARS TO BE NONFUNCTIONAL, THE AIRCONDITIONING QUITS AND AFTER ALLEGED REPAIR, STAYS ON ALL THE TIME REGARDLESS IF SET TO AIR OR VENT, THE REAR HATCH IS DEFECTIVE AND CAN'T BE OPENED, THE TAIL LIGHTS HAVE BURNT OUT THREE TIMES AND TWO HEADLIGHRS HAVE BURNT OUT.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THESE REASONS AND MORE. FAULTY BACK LIGHT- DVD SYSTEMS. ON TOP OF ALL THESE IT HAS HAD THREE RECALLS IN THE NINE MONTHS I'VE OWNED IT. BOUGHT IT NEW!

WHINING HEARD FROM ENGINE AREA AFTER WARM UP. HEARD FROM 2000 RPM AND UP DURING ACCELERATION. AFTER REACHING DESIRED SPEED (CITY, HIGHWAY, OR RURAL) AND MAINTAINING STEADY SPEED NOISE GOES AWAY. SOUNDS LIKE A IMMINENT STEERING RACK FAILURE AS DEALER HAS CHANGED P/S PUMP, CHANGED FLUID, AND FLUSHED LINES TRYING TO CORRECT PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL. HAPPENS UPON EVERY START AND ACCELERATE. *AK
ENGINE KNOCK AND RATTLE ON COLD START, WORSENS WHEN LOADED (IN GEAR). AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, KNOCKING DIMINISHES. COINCIDES WITH INTERMITTENT COLD ENGINE STALL WITH NO SES LIGHT SET.*AK
ENGINE STALLS AFTER START REGARDLESS OF TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTED. WILL RESTART, BUT IS STALLING AFTER BACKING OUT INTO A MAJOR LOCAL RAOD WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC, POSING A REAR END COLLISION RISK.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT WITHOUT WARNING THE HATCHBACK EXPLODED. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. CONSUMER BELIEVED IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW. THE ARMS TO OPEN THE WINDOW FORCED THE GLASS OUTWARD UP TO 10 FEET. IF THE GLASS GOES, THE ARMS ARE FORCED TO OPEN LIKE TWO CATAPULTS. DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND CORRECT IT UNDER WARRANTY. *PH
THE REAR RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT WAS INOPERATIVE. *AK. ALSO THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WAS LOOSE, THE BRAKES SQUEAKED AND THE FRONT STABILIZER WAS REPLACED BECAUSE A NOISE WAS HEARD WHEN THE CONSUMER MADE SLOW TURNS. *JB
I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM CHEVROLET STATING THAT SOME 2002 TRAIL BLAZERS MAY EXPERIENCE A CRACKLING OF AN ENGINE CYLINDER BORE LINER. THIS WILL CAUSE ENGINE NOISE, POOR PERFORMANCE, AND OR STALLS WITH NO ENGINE RESTART. HOWEVER, THEY WILL ONLY REPAIR AFTER THE VEHICLE IS DAMAGED. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN AND DO NOT THINK IT IS SAFE TO BE DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT COULD STALL AT ANY TIME OR PROVIDE "POOR PERFORMANCE". I HAVE EXPERIENCED MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE 2002 TRAILBLAZER - RANGING FROM THE VEHICLE STOPPING AS I'M GOING 55 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STAYING ON, I'VE RECEIVED 2 RECALL NOTICES AND THEN THIS SPECIAL POLICY NOTICE. I THINK THE ENGINE SHOULD BE REPLACED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. *JB
LEFT BRAKE LIGHT SHORTED OUT AT 29,000 MILES. SERVICE MANAGER AT DEALERSHIP HAD INDICATED THAT THIS WAS VERY COMMON IN 2002 TRAILBLAZER. IF I DIDN'T HAVE SOMEONE BEHIND ME NICE ENOUGH TO TELL ME, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM. DEALER INDICATED SOME TYPE OF CIRCUIT BOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
I BOUGHT A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LT NEW ABOUT 10 MONTHS AGO THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE MANY TIMES FOR DIFFERENT THINGS AS FOR SEATBELT LOOKING UP AND WONT RELEASE,BRAKE LIGHTS FAILING,DERECTIONALS THAT BLOWOUT EVERY FEW DAYS,RADIO/CD PLAYER WASNT WORKING,LEAKAGE OF WATER EVERYTIME IT RAINED ETC ETC.. ANYWAYS I JUST TOOK IT BACK ON 6-9-03 FOR SEATBELT TO BE DONE AGAIN AND FOR THE DERECTIONAL THAT FAILED AGAIN AND ALSO TO HAVE TRUCK INSPECTED I PICKED IT UP LATER THAT DAY AND FOUND THAT THE INSPECTION STICKER HAD A WRONG VIN # ON IT AND THAT OTHER WORK WAS DONE I LEFT THERE KNOWING THEY SAID THEY DONT KNOW WHY THE LIGHT IN DERECTIONAL KEEPS FAILING BUT THEY DID CHANGE THE BULBS { THIS IS EVERYTIME I BRING IT THIS IS ALL THEY DO TO FIX IT} ON 6-10-03 THE DERECTIONAL WASNT WORKING AGAIN MY HUSBAND CHANGED THE LIGHT BULB THIS TIME DUE TO THE FACT IT TAKES ME ALMOST 40 MINS TO GET TO DEALERSHIP .....I WILL BE GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK FOR A COPY OF THE HISTORY ON TRUCK AND WILL BE GETTING A LAWYER INVOLVED AND ALSO CONTACT THE DEALERS COMMINTION AND CHANNEL 12 ON THIS MATTER .....I PAYED ALMOST 30,000 FOR A TRUCK THAT IS NOT WORTH IT AND I AM A VERY UNHAPPY COSTUMER ..*AK

WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAIL TO WORK. THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES IN 12 MONTHS. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE MOTOR EACH TIME, BUT DOES NOT GURANTEE THAT IT HAS PERMANENTLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE REQUIRED TO DRIVE DURING RAIN. DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL TYRING TO USE THE WIPERS. DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS OR SUDDEN DOWNPOURS, VISIBILITY IS MINIMIAL UNTIL THE DRIVER CAN SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD.*AK

THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING. THE DEALER REPLACED/REPAIRED THEM AT NO COST. DISCOVERED THROUGH AN INTERNET USER GROUP THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED IN MANY TRAILBLAZERS. WOULD LIKE TO LOG MY COMPLAINT MILEAGE = 30K IN-SERVICE - FEB-2002.*JB
I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT MY "2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER MAY EXPERIENCE A CRACKING OF AN ENGINE CYLINDER BORE LINER. THIS WILL CAUSE ENGINE NOISE, POOR PERFORMANCE AND/OR STALLS WITH NO ENGINE RE-START. THIS IS NOT A RECALL. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HAS THE CONDITION AS DESCRIBED ABOVE". I FEEL THAT THIS IS IRRESPONSIBLE BY CHEVROLET AND THE ACTION THEY ARE TAKING IS ALSO IRRESPONSIBLE. THEY ARE COVERING THE VEHICLE FOR 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND MAKE CHEVROLET CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IF THEY KNOW THEY ARE PUTTING A FAULTY PRODUCT ON THE MARKET THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WHEN SOMETHING WAS TOWED ON THE VEHICLE'S HITCH, IT BOUNCED UP AND DOWN WHICH CAUSED THE UTILITY TRAILER TO BE LOST WHILE DRIVING. *JB RECEIVER HOLE IN HITCH NEEDED TO BE DECREASED IN SIZE. *TT *JB
CAR SEATS INSTALLED IN OUR 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER ARE FLIPPED TO THEIR SIDE BY THE SEAT BELTS. WE HAVE HAD IT INSTALLED BY 4 DIFERENT PEOPLE AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN, THE CARSEAT CURRENTLY NOT INSTALLED TO OUR LIKING AND COMFORT. IN NOVEMBER OF 2002, JN AUTOMOTIVE HAS REVERSED THE ODOMETER ON MY VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THEY ARE IN VIOLATION OF THE FEDERAL ODOMETER LAW. I JUST WANT TO FIND SOME RESOURCES THAT WILL HELP ME RESOLVE THIS SITUATION.
WHILE DRIVING, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE KICKED IN WHICH CAUSED THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE TO LOCK UP. *JB
THE POWER STEERING FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES, EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN FOR REPAIRS FIVE TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *AK *SC
AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON. SERVICED AT DEALER 4 TIMES AND PROBLEM WAS STILL ON GOING. THEY FOUND CODES, PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT LOOP OPEN, AND VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE. AIR BAG MODULE REPLACED. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS, AT START UP, SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE AND DASH LIGHTS FAILED. VEHICLE RESTARTED AND THAT'S WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON. DEALER UPDATED INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. SOP IN AIR BAG, PANEL MODULE GOING OPEN, REPLACED PASSENGER INSTRUMENT PANEL MODULE. WAS OK FOR ONE WEEK. HAD INTERMITTENT AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON AGAIN. HAVE NOT RECONTACTED DEALER. *TT
2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LTZ; WIPER BLADES CHATTER AGAINST WINDSHIELD AT ANY WIPER SPEED EXCEPT WHEN ON CONSTANTLY, AND WITH ANY AMOUNT OF WATER ON GLASS. WIPER ARMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY DEALER; I HAVE REPLACED THE BLADES. VEHICLE HAS A WATER SENSOR ON IT THAT IS SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE WIPERS AS MOISTURE BUILDS ON GLASS. THIS SENSOR, THE MOTOR, OR THE RELAY BETWEEN THE TWO MAY BE THE PROBLEM. WHILE THIS IS NOT A HAZARD IN ITSELF, THE CHATTERING IS A CONSTANT ANNOYANCE THAT CAN BE DISTRACTING WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN RAINY WEATHER.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED DURING RAINSTORM FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 7 MONTHS.*JB
LEFT REAR BRAKE LIGHT AND THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE LIGHT HAVE GONE OUT 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR REQUIRING THE BULB TO BE CHANGED. *JB
I HAVE A 2002 CHEVY. TRAIL BLAZER LTZ MODEL # [XXX] THIS VEHICLE SITS SO MUCH LOWER IN THE FRONT THAN THE BACK. THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IS SO LOW IT OBSCURES THE LINE OF SIGHT TO THE RIGHT FRONT AREA WHILE DRIVING. MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAD THREE (3) NEAR MISSES WITH CARS IN INTERSECTIONS AND ALMOST RAN OVER A CHILD ON A BICYCLE COMING FROM THE RIGHT. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE. VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW 7.5 MONTHS AGO AND HAS ABOUT 8000 MILES. FOUND THE FUSES GOOD AND THE LIGHT BULB FILAMENTS GOOD. WHILE CHECKING THE LIGHT BULBS, I DISCOVERED THAT MOVING THEM SLIGHTLY IN THE OUT DIRECTION, THE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON. UPON EXAMINATION, IT APPEARS THE METAL CONNECTION TABS WITHIN LIGHT SOCKET AND/OR THE BULB WIRE- TYPE CONNECTIONS MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BY HEAT. THERE IS SOME DISCOLORATION ON BOTH. ALTHOUGH THE BULBS ARE NOT BURNED OUT, THEY WILL NOT WORK WHEN FULLY SEATED INTO THE SOCKET - THERE IS NO ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. THEY DO WORK WHEN PULLED SLIGHTLY OUT. I INSTALLED NEW BULBS WHICH DO WORK WHEN FULLY SEATED. I NOW WONDER HOW LONG IT WILL BE BEFORE THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. I BELIEVE THERE MAY A DESIGN DEFECT WITH EITHER THE SOCKET OR THE BULB, WHERE HEAT BUILDUP IN THE CONNECTION WAS NOT TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. *JB

CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL AND SIDE COLLISION WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE ENTIRE GEAR SHAFT CAME UP OUT OF THE FLOORBOARD. *NLM *TS
CONSUMER WAS HIT TWICE IN A SIDE AND FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30MPH. NEITHER THE FRONTAL OR SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. *NLM
SERVICE 4WD LIGHT COMES ON, VEHICLE WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITHOUT THE SWITCH BEING TURNED. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO JERK AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO STEER AT TIMES. *AK
2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH 21,000 MILES. BOUGHT IN AUGUST 2001. HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 10 TIMES SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. LATEST PROBLEM IS STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS OR AFTER STOPPING. HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS FOR THIS PROBLEM 4 TIMES, AND PROBLEM RECURRED TODAY. WENT OUT TO START CAR AND IT WAS DEAD. JUST PICKED IT UP FROM THE REPAIR SHOP YESTERDAY. HAS BEEN TOWED THREE TIMES FOR SAME PROBLEM. SERVICE SHOP HAS REPROGRAMMED COMPUTER, REPLACED BATTERY, IGNITION SWITCH, AND TCM (COMPUTER MODULE), AND PCM/VCM (OTHER COMPUTER MODULES) AND FUSE KIT. STILL HAVING PROBLEM. SUV IS UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE. *JB
