MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THIS CAR! I WILL START WITH THE PROBLEMS THAT DIDN'T ALMOST KILL MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN. THE ABS LIGHT WOULD STAY ON AND THE DEALER HAD NO RESOLUTION. THE CAR WOULD STALL WHILE TURNING. I REPLACED THE BATTERY FIVE TIMES IN FOUR YEARS. WHILE IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY THE DRIVERS SEAT RECLINED BY ITSELF, WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE CONTROLS AND STARTED SMOKING! THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM! LASTLY, WHILE DRIVING MY SONS TO SCHOOL, THE CAR WAS HANDLING POORLY AND BECAUSE IT WAS DARK AND RAINING, INITIALLY I BELIEVED THAT IT WAS WET ROAD CONDITIONS. TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR, I WAS TRAVELING IN THE SLOW LANE AND MY SPEED WAS APPROX. 30 MPH. UPON APPROACHING THE TOP OF A SMALL HILL, THE STEERING BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY, AT THIS TIME I BELIEVED THAT THE CAR HAD A FLAT TIRE AND THAT WAS WHAT HAD CAUSED THE POOR HANDLING WHILE DRIVING. I IMMEDIATELY HIT THE BUTTON FOR MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND BEGAN TO TRY TO EASE INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND ATTEMPT TO STOP THE CAR. IT WAS INSTANTLY APPARENT THAT THE CAR BRAKES AND POWER STEERING WERE NOT WORKING, WHICH LEFT ME STRUGGLING AT 30 MPH AND ACCELERATING BECAUSE OF THE I WAS NOW ON THE DOWNWARD SIDE OF THE HILL, TO TRY TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR! I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM COMPLETELY VEERING TO THE RIGHT AND ULTIMATELY HIT A 5 INCH CONCRETE CURB THAT IS A TURN OUT FOR THE CORNER GAS STATION. UPON HITTING THE CURB THE CAR THEN SPRANG TO THE LEFT BACK INTO THE HIGHWAY LANE. MIRACULOUSLY, NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE TRAVELING IN THAT LANE AT THAT MOMENT! ONCE, WE WERE OUT OF THE CAR, I LEARNED THAT THE CAR DID NOT HAVE A FLAT TIRE BUT A PART OF THE FRONT END HAD BROKEN AND CAUSED THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE TO COLLAPSE INTO THE WHEEL WELL...UNBELIEVABLE! I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DEFECT OF THE CAR, IN ADDITION TO HE MULTITUDE OF OTHER DEFECTS OF THIS CAR!! *TR
WHILE TURNING INTO THE BANK PARKING LOT AT 10MPH THE CAR JUST STALLED. I WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE OR STEER OUT THE WAY. WHEN GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY I AM UNABLE TO FILL THE TANK WITH GAS AS IT BEGINS TO SPILL BACK OUT. GAS GAUGE READS 1/2 FULL WHEN IT IS REALLY EMPTY? MILES TO EMPTY SENSOR INCORRECT THEREFORE I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I NEED GAS. DRIVER SIDE EXTERIOR HEADLAMP SEEMS DIMMER THAN THE OTHER LAMP. AFTER REPAIRING THE ENTIRE FRONT END(SUSPENSION) STILL SOUNDS LIKE THE FRONT END IS GOING TO FALL APART WHEN DRIVING ON OHIO ROADS. FELT IT WAS NECESSARY TO DOCUMENT AS I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. *TR
DRIVING HOME ON HIGHWAY WITH THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. GAS GAUGE SUDDENLY DROPS FROM1/2 TANK TO EMPTY AND CAR STALLS IMMEDIATELY ON THE HIGHWAY. I AM TOWED TO A GAS STATION WHERE I TRY TO PUT GAS INTO THE TANK AND AM ONLY ABLE TO PUT A GALLON OR TWO IN AT A TIME AS IF THE TANK WERE FULL. PAST 6 MONTHS, THE GAS GAUGE IS INCONSISTENT, DROPS FROM 1/2 TO EMPTY AND AM UNABLE TO PUT MORE THAN A GALLON OR TWO IN AT A TIME. MECHANICS AS WELL AS MYSELF CONTACT CHRYSLER WHO CLAIM THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. I LOOK ON-LINE AND SEE THAT PACIFICA'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I ASK THAT YOU LOOK INTO HOW MY PACIFICA IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. IT IS THE SAME YEAR AS OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS THOSE ON THE RECALL LIST. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A POPPING SOUND FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE SUB FRAME WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
SUBFRAME UNDER ENGINE IS ROTTED OUT. *TR
I WAS PULLING INTO A LEFT HAND PARKING SPOT WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED/COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE STILL ON. I WAS ABLE TO COAST BACKWARDS DOWN A SLOPE AND BACK INTO ANOTHER OPEN PARKING SPOT. I HAD NO POWER STEERING, AND BRAKES WERE VERY HARD TO DEPRESS. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND LOOKED UP OPEN RECALLS. I FOUND A RECALL SIMILAR TO WHAT HAPPENED, BUT WHEN I CALLED BOTH DAIMLER-CHRYSLER AND A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND GAVE THE LAST 8 CHARACTERS OF MY VIN, THEY INFORMED ME THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. FROM WHAT I RESEARCHED, THIS MIGHT HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES AND I AM QUITE CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME, LATE EVENING, I REACHED TO TURN ON WINDSHIELD WASHER AND WHEN I DID THAT, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, RADIO AND A/C WENT DEAD, TAILLIGHTS WENT OUT. THE ONLY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS STILL WORKING WERE DASHLIGHTS, DOORLOCKS, TURN SIGNALS, AND SECURITY SYSTEM. ENGINE AND POWER STEERING STILL WORKED. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC, OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I MANAGED TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND PARKED TO ASSESS THINGS, BUT FOUND I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK BECAUSE OF INTERLOCK. CAR WAS TOWED TO MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE FAILURE - REPLACED THE BOX, BUT IT STILL HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS. SO FAR, 12 DAYS IN THE SHOP, WITH NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT. I THINK SUCH A GENERAL SYSTEM FAILURE DOES PRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
ACCESSED THE INTERSTATE. CAR SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE. COULD NOT CHANGE SPEED SO HAD TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND WAIT ON TOW. HAD JUST DONE ROUTINE CHECK/FLUSH FLUID. THERE WERE NO NOTICEABLE TROUBLE DURING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING A STATE INSPECTION PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE SHE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, HE HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE NEAR THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000. UPDATED 12/11/12 *BF THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE MOUNTS THAT WERE INSTALLED ON 09-13-12 HAVE SINCE FAILED. THE ENGINE WAS UNSTABLE AND UNSECURED. UPDATED 12/12/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM PARK. EVENTUALLY THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE GEAR FROM PARK. IN ADDITION, THE POWER WINDOWS, HVAC UNIT, WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC STOP, A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF HER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS PUSHED FORWARD FROM THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT HOWEVER, HER SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN HER AND HER FACE WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE THEN CRASHED INTO A PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S SEAT BELT THEN BECAME COMPLETELY UNLATCHED AND THE AIR BAGS ALSO FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, BACK AND THE FACE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURES OF THE SEAT BELTS OR AIR BAGS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 94,308. ABS WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE HAD IT WORKED ON AND RESET BUT IT KEEPS COMING ON. THE MECHANIC SAYS THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. IT IS BECOMING COSTLY TO KEEP HAVING IT CHECKED. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THERE ARE MANY PACIFICA'S THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
MY VERY WELL KEPT 2005 PACIFICA FAILED INSPECTION AT MY LOCAL MECHANIC DUE TO A COMPLETELY ROTTED CROSS MEMBER FRAME. SUBSTANTIAL ROTTING IN MULTIPLE SPOTS. MANY HOLES. TOOK CAR TO CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY INSPECTED CAR AND TOLD ME THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A WORSE FRAME. QUOTED ME IN WRITING, $5779.98 TO REPAIR!!! OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER TO FIND OUT IF THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR ME. YEA RIGHT. THEY EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TO SAY THE DEALER SAID THEY ONLY GAVE ME A PARTS LIST, NOT A QUOTE. LIARS! SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR IN NEW YORK. CARS BUILT FROM 2/23/04-3/31/04 WERE GIVEN AN EXTENSION TO 150,000 MILES WARRANTY FOR SUCH PROBLEM. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. NEEDS TO BE A RECALL! I AM GOING TO REPAIR WITH USED CROSS MEMBER FOR 1500.00 AND I'M SELLING IT AFTERWARDS. DO NOT WANT ANY PART OF CHRYSLER AGAIN! *TR
I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY CHILDREN DOWN A STATE HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY "MILES TO NEXT SERVICE" LIGHT WAS SAYING MY NEXT SERVICE WAS DUE IN 4555 MILES. HOW ODD, I THOUGHT, BUT DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO PONDER IT FURTHER AS I WAS GOING AROUND AT CURVE AT 45 MILES PER HOUR WITH CARS BOTH BEHIND ME AND ONCOMING, WHEN I REALIZED THAT MY STEERING HAD INEXPLICABLY GIVEN OUT. I ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, ONLY TO REALIZE THAT MY BRAKES, TOO, HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND WEREN'T WORKING. I THREW ON MY FLASHERS AND DID EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO GET THAT CAR SAFELY TO A HALT AT THE SIDE OF ROAD. IT WAS ONLY DUE TO MY EFFORTS THAT MY CHILDREN AND I WERE ABLE TO SAFELY EVACUATE THE VEHICLE BEFORE MORE DIRE CONSEQUENCES OCCURRED, BECAUSE THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THANKFULLY, A KIND PASSERBY HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE HIT IT, AND I CALLED AAA FOR A TOW. I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL MALFUNCTION, BUT I HAD ADEQUATE FUEL IN THE CAR AND HAD THE OIL CHANGED LESS THAN TWO WEEKS PRIOR SO IT WASN'T SIMPLE OWNER NEGLECT. NO, IT WAS A CHRYSLER MALFUNCTION THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED MY CHILDREN AND I OUR LIVES TODAY. *TR
THIS CAR WAS RECALLED UNDER THE F44 RECALL NOTICE AND THE PCM WAS FLASHED IN 2008. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN IN MAY2012, THE CAR STARTED GOING IN REVERSE WHILE IN DRIVE, THE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED, AND THE CAR WAS HARD TO STEER. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE MAPPING SENSORS WERE REPLACED AND THE CAR WORKED FINE. THE CAR SHUT DOWN AGAIN IN AUGUST. THIS TIME THE CAR MADE CHIMING SOUNDS AND THE SYMBOLS FOR THE BATTERY, ABS, AND ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE PCM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE YEARS AGO, HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V066000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: HEADLIGHTS). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION HOWEVER, NOTHING WAS REPLACED AS THE DEALER DEEMED THAT IS WAS UNNECESSARY AT THAT TIME. MOST RECENTLY, THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD ONLY WORK INTERMITTENTLY BEFORE BECOMING INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY BEEN INSPECTED FOR THE RECALL DEFECT AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INSPECTED PER THE RECALL AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP FOR AN INSPECTION. THE INSPECTOR STATED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 148,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA . THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC, THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS FOUND TO BE CORRODED DUE TO DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
EXPERIENCING A VIBRATION/SHAKING IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE K-FRAME ASSEMBLY THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECENT TSB PUT OUT BY CHRYSLER ON 3/16/12, NUMBER 13-001-12. HOWEVER, UPON READING THE TSB, IT ONLY COVERS THOSE VEHICLES MADE FROM 2/23/04 - 3/31/04. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN MAY 2004. I CALLED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY AND THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE I WAS THE THIRD OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW HOW THE VEHICLE WAS TREATED AND BECAUSE OF THE HIGH MILEAGE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY. I FILED A REPORT WITH THE NH ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. I THEN RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM CHRYSLER'S CLAIMS INVESTIGATION DIVISION. THEY OFFERED TO PAY FOR ONE PART WHICH COST $1,550 (FRONT CROSS MEMBER). I DID NOT ACCEPT HER OFFER AS THE COST TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE IN FULL WITH ALL NECESSARY PARTS AND LABOR TOTALS $2,362.07. MY CLAIM WAS THEN REFERRED TO THE CHRYSLER BUSINESS CENTER WHO WOULD MAKE A FINAL DECISION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I EMPHASIZED THAT THIS WAS DEEMED A SAFETY ISSUE BY MY MECHANIC. I ALSO SPOKE WITH A LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD SEEN 6 OF THESE SAME REPAIRS ON MY EXACT VEHICLE WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS AND THAT THIS SHOULD BE DEEMED A RECALL THROUGH THE MANUFACTURER. ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2012, I RECEIVED A COPY OF A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER TO THE NH ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE STATING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS "PURCHASED USED AND IS BEYOND ANY WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE. AS SUCH CHRYSLER GROUP LLC WILL NOT BE PARTICIPATING IN ANY REPAIR CONSIDERATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE HOOD WHILE DRIVING AND WITHIN MOMENTS, THE FRONT END WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 152,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER HE REFUELED THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE WOULD SPEW FROM THE FILLER NECK VALVE DESPITE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE OR THE AMOUNT BEING ADDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PROBLEM RECURRED WHENEVER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE CODE STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THE DEALER BELIEVED THAT EITHER THE PUMP OR THE COOLER HAD FAILED IN THE TRANSMISSION. BOTH FAILURES WERE CONNECTED TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE MISS FIRING HAS BEEN OCCURING FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS INTERMITTANTLY. I GOT IT CHECKED WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, BUT THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CAN SHAFT DIDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
