TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE TO A FRIEND'S RESIDENCE AND CALLED SAHARA CHRYSLER IN LAS VEGAS, NV (702-479-2121). THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO PROCEED TO THE SHOP. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN EN ROUTE AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. IN ADDITION, THE OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THE SERPENTINE BELT, THE PRETENSIONER BELT, AND THE SPLASH SHIELD. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE OIL PUMP PRESSURE BECAME STUCK AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO GO INTO LIMP MODE FOR SAFETY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES OF DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT CALLED AAA ROADSIDE SERVICE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FALLS CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE IN CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH (330-923-3041). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT OIL LEAKED FROM THE LEFT VALVE COVER TO THE ALTERNATOR, SERPENTINE BELT, AND THE CYLINDER HEAD COVER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND WAS SUCCESSFULLY TEST DRIVEN BY THE TECHNICIAN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER, AND OFFERED A REBATE. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE REBATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,879.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE THROTTLE AND SERVICE ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY WITH THE SAME INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER, TURN THE ENGINE OFF, AND ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE DUE TO A MESSAGE THAT READ "KEY FOB NOT DETECTED". THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A HANDICAP ADAPTIVE VEHICLE, SO SHE WOULD HAVE TO OPEN THE RAMP DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC. WHEN THE CONTACT RE-ENTERED THE VEHICLE, SHE HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO RESTART THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE IT CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MOBILITY WORKS, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT MADE THE ADAPTATION TO THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT VISITED REEDMAN TOLL AUTO WORLD (1700 EAST LINCOLN HIGHWAY #101, LANGHORNE, PA 19047, (877) 702-7807) AND WAS INFORMED THAT MOBILITY WORKS WOULD NEED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE SINCE THEY PERFORMED THE ADAPTIVE WORK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED OUT. SHE LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKING. SHE HAD TO STOP THE CAR COMPLETELY AND PUT IT IN PARK BEFORE BEING ABLE TO RESTART. THE PROBLEM KEPT RECURRING AND SHE WAS ONLY ABLE TO GO A SHORT DISTANCE EACH TIME. LUCKILY SHE WAS ABLE TO NURSE THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ONTO A SIDE STREET TO PARK IT. I WENT BACK TO THE CAR THE FOLLOWING WEEK AFTER IT WAS PARKED AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ONLY IT SEEMED EVEN WORSE. I WOULD START THE CAR, IT WOULD DRIVE ONLY A FEW FEET AND SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY (MAYBE 5 TIMES) UNTIL I DECIDED TO PARK IT AND CALL CHRYSLER. CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER. IT WAS PICKED UP ABOUT 3 HOURS LATER. THEY CALLED ME ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER AND TOLD ME THAT THE GAS TANK HAD BEEN OVERFILLED AND IT CAUSED SOMETHING TO MALFUNCTION. THIS SEEMS VERY HARD TO BELIEVE WOULD BE THE CAUSE OF SUCH A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER, THEY HAD REPLACED THE FUEL TANK, CANISTER, VALVE, FUEL COVER AND FUEL MODULE. I PICKED THE CAR UP AND HAD NO INCIDENTS DRIVING HOME. THAT SAID, I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR OR PUT MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR - PARTICULARLY ON THE HIGHWAY. I WANT CHRYSLER TO BUY THIS CAR BACK FROM ME. SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE AND POWER LOSS WHILE DRIVING. ERROR MESSAGES DISPLAYED ON DASH INDICATING FAILURE OF ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND TRANSMISSION, ALONG WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS ISSUE STARTED INTERMITTENTLY, BUT BECAME SO SEVERE THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES IN A SHORT <10 MILE TRIP. TO RECOVER, THE CAR MUST BE STOPPED, TURNED OFF, AND THEN RESTARTED....UPDATED 11/03/17 *BF. UPDATED 11/9/2017*JS
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS, THIS VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO HAVE NO ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE, ACCELERATE, OR BRAKE UNTIL IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED UNDER A RANGE OF DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES - WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF OTHERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER ON ONLINE FORUMS (E.G., PACIFICAFORUMS.COM), AND SOME OF THESE OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. EACH TIME WE HAVE BROUGHT IT TO A CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER, MECHANICS HAVE ADVISED THAT ALL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS DO NOT REVEAL ANY ISSUES AND EFFORTS AT DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE SIMILARLY COME BACK NEGATIVE. ALL OTHERS WHO CLAIM TO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PACIFICA HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR NEGATIVE TEST RESULTS, WITH NO REMEDIATION PROPOSED. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE RISK. 9/16/17 WHILE DRIVING, THE UCONNECT SYSTEM AND INSTRUMENT PANEL SHUT OFF AND RESET AND THE PASSENGER WINDOW LOWERED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIVE NORMALLY. 9/20/17 WHILE DRIVING THE UCONNECT SYSTEM AND INSTRUMENT PANEL SHUT OFF AND RESET AND THE CAR SWITCHED FROM DRIVE TO PARK. ON 6 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS MY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND THE ENGINE TURNS OFF. THE SCREEN DISPLAYS "PUT CAR IN PARK AND PRESS START BUTTON". AT THIS POINT THE CAR IS COASTING ALONG THE ROAD. YOU HAVE TO ATTEMPT TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK TO RESTART. THE CAR DOES RESTART, BUT THIS IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS. I WAS DRIVING AND WAS TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND MY VAN COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND I HAD NOTHING. I HAD A MESSAGE ON MY DASH THAT SAID TO PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK. I DID THAT THEN I ATTEMPTED TO START MY VAN AGAIN CAUSE I HAD NOT PULLED COMPLETELY IN THE DRIVEWAY YET. I HAD A 1/2 TANK OF GAS ALSO AND HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. IT WAS LIKE I COMPLETELY LOST EVERYTHING AND THE VAN JUST SHUT OFF. I DID CONTACT THE LOCAL CHRYSLER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG OR GET THE VAN TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY HAD TOLD ME I WAS FINE TO DRIVE AND IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO LET THEM KNOW. MY VAN ONLY HAD ABOUT 16000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.

I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND WAS HAD 309 MILES ON THE CAR WHEN I HAD THIS INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH IN THE LEFT MOST LANE WHEN I SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE, STEERING, AND BRAKES AND WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR BRAKE NORMALLY. I USED QUITE A BIT OF STRENGTH TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND NEARLY WAS REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK IN DOING SO AS THERE WAS NO SHOULDER ON THE LEFT HANDS SIDE. DURING THIS TIME PERIOD, ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WERE FLASHING VARIOUS WARNINGS AND FAILURE SYMBOLS. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT AT WHICH POINT THE CAR WAS VIOLENTLY SHAKING AND AGAIN GIVING MANY FLASHING WARNINGS. I DROVE AT A MAX SPEED OF 16MPH TO A SAFER LOCATION OFF THE HIGHWAY AT WHICH POINT THE CAR AGAIN STALLED AND STOPPED. MY TRANSMISSION JERKS HARD WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND AND 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. THIS HAPPENS AT A SLOW SPEED AROUND 15 MPH. IT FEELS LIKE I HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT THEN WILL LURCH FORWARD LIKE I HIT THE GAS PEDAL. ONE OF THE TIMES I WAS OUT OF TOWN. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION JERKED IT WOULD NOT CHANGE TO A HIGHER GEAR. I HAD TO PARK THE CAR, CUT OFF THE MOTOR FOR AND HOUR, AND THEN WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. THE DEALER HAS REFRESHED THE COMPUTER AND DID A RECALL, BUT IT STILL IS NOT FIXED. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES. THEY SAY NOTHING CAN BE DONE UNLESS THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ONE TIME THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ACTUALLY CAME ON FOR SEVERAL HOURS BUT WAS OFF WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING.. ON 10 MAY 2018 I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE NEW CARS HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN AND LEARN THE DRIVERS DRIVING HABITS. SO I FELT LIKE THEY WERE BLAMING IT ON ME. HOW STUPID IS THAT COMMENT?
THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED IN TRAFFIC WHEN IN DRIVE AND IT WILL PLACE ITSELF IN PARK. WE HAVEN'T HAD THE VAN A YEAR YET AND IT HAD DONE THIS WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. RECENTLY IT HAS DONE THIS AT A STOP LIGHT AND THEN ALSO AT A SLOW DOWN 2 DAYS IN A ROW. I LOOKED THE VIN UP IN RECALLS BUT, IT SAYS INCOMPLETE. I HOPE THAT THIS ISSUE CAN BE RESOLVED BY CHRYSLER SOON.
VAN STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. DEALER COULD FIND NO CODES AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENED AT HWY SPEEDS.
2017 PACIFICA TOURING-L ENGINE SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY WHEN DRIVING AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH ON A CITY STREET WHEN I SLOWED DOWN FROM 45 MPH. THE VAN IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD AND HAS ABOUT 10000 MILES ON IT. SCREEN DISPLAYED MESSAGE 'SHIFT TO PARK AND RESTART VEHICLE'. I TRIED RESTARTING WITHOUT STOPPING THE CAR AS THERE WERE CARS BEHIND ME AND I SAW THE MESSAGE "TOO FAST TO SHIFT TO PARK" AND THE POWER STEERING WAS ALSO CUT OFF BECAUSE IT IS ELECTRONIC. I HAD TO PARK ON THE SHOULDER AND RESTART AFTER A COMPLETE STOP. CONTACTED MY CHRYSLER DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT UNLESS THERE IS A CODE NO DIAGNOSIS IS POSSIBLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWN SHIFT TWO GEARS AND THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE TO 2,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRYDEN MOTORS INC (548 BRAD ST, BELOIT, WI 53511) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DUPLICATED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SPORT DURST CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DEALER (513 DURHAM-CHAPEL HILL BLVD, DURHAM, NC 27707; 919-724-4677) TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR A RECALL REGARDING THE DOOR LOCKS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS UPDATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE MORE TIMES AND THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PRESENTLY AT THE SAME DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. VEHICLE HAS A VIBRATION/SHUDDER THAT CHRYSLER CONSIDERS "NORMAL." HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS A TOTAL OF SIX TIMES, WITH NO RESOLUTION. ENGINE VIBRATION CONTINUES TO WORSEN, AND HAVE DRIVEN OTHER VEHICLES WITHOUT SIMILAR VIBRATION. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED VEHICLE WILL EVENTUALLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, RENDERING NO STEERING OR BRAKES. I DO NOT CARE TO HAVE A VEHICLE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR THAT CAN/WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. *TR *AS CONSUMER STATED ELIMINATING THE STANDARD SPARE TIRE TO REDUCE WEIGHT IN THE VEHICLE HAS CAUSED A SAFETY ISSUE AS MOST TIRE PROBLEMS CANNOT SIMPLY BE FIXED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH A PATCH KIT. AUTO ON/OFF SYSTEM. TIRE PATCH KIT PROVIDED WITH VEHICLE INSTEAD OF SPARE TIRE DURING EMERGENCIES/TIRE BLOW OUT/ FLAT, EXCEEDING DIFFICULT TO USE ESPECIALLY FOR A FAMILY VEHICLE. KIT ONLY WORKS WHEN DAMAGE TO TIRE IS IN A SPECIFIC PLACE AND ACCESSIBLE. ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES WITH THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE CLICKING NOISES AS I TURN THE VEHICLE (DOESN'T MATTER LEFT OR RIGHT). DEALER SERVICE DEPT CHECKED AND REPLACED DEFECTIVE RIGHT AXLE. AT 10K MILES, LEFT AXLE FAILURE. DEALER SERVICE DEPT CHECKED AND REPLACED A BROKEN LEFT AXLE. THIS BREAK ALSO CAUSED THE E-BRAKES TO NO LONGER ENGAGE AND WHILE THE CAR WAS IN PARK NO BRAKES WERE APPLIED THEREBY ALLOWING THE CAR TO CONTINUE ROLLING UNLESS YOUR FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKES OR A BLOCK OF WOOD IS PLACED AT THE TIRE TO PREVENT ROLLING. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE REP, HE MENTIONED THAT FRONT AXLE FAILURE SEEMS TO BE COMMON IN THE PACIFICA. THIS NEARLY KILLED ME AND MY FAMILY. THANKFULLY WE WEREN'T STRUCK AS WE GOT STUCK MID LEFT TURN WITH OPPOSING TRAFFIC SPEEDING DOWNHILL. I DO NOT FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE AND FURTHER INVESTIGATION IS NECESSARY. HAD VEHICLE SERVICED AT DEALER AND THEY REPLACED PART NUMBER 68277373AF WITH NEW PART NUMBER 68303489AM AND FLASHED NEW PART. AT 16,068 MILES ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN CITY STREET. RETURNED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD NO ISSUE WAS RECORDED ON THE VEHICLE MODULE OF THE SHUT DOWN. THEY KEPT IT SEVERAL DAYS AND STILL DON'T HAVE AN ANSWER AS TO WHY IT SHUT DOWN. WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING TURNS/ COMING OUT OF PARKING LOTS, OUR CHRYSLER PACIFICA WILL STALL. IT DOES A HARD SHIFT AND JOLTS FORWARD, AS IF A GEAR HAS SLIPPED OR WE HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. THE FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT IN FOR THIS ISSUE WAS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017 WHEN THE CAR HAD ABOUT 32,000 MILES. NUMEROUS 'SOFTWARE UPDATES' HAVE BEEN DONE AND A VALVE THROTTLE BODY WAS PUT ON IN JUNE 2018 TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE AFTER MANY FORMER ATTEMPTS. IT WORKED FOR A COUPLE MONTHS, BUT NOW WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE STALL/ HARD SHIFT AGAIN. CHRYSLER'S CUSTOMER CARE HAS BLANTANTLY DENIED ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK TO SUPERVISORS AND POINTS THE FINGER AT THE DEALERSHIP, WHILE THEY POINT FINGERS AR CHRYSLER. THE CAR IS 2 YEARS OLD AND DOESN'T GIVE ME ANY HOPE OF EVER REALLY BEING FIXED. WE HAVE BEEN METICULOUS ABOUT MAINTENANCE AND HAVE ONLY TAKEN IT TO CERTIFIED CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS. OUR FIRST FAMILY CAR PURCHASED TOGETHER HAS BEEN AN EXPERIENCE WE DON'T WANT OTHERS TO GO THROUGH. CHRYSLER IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR PRODUCING UNSAFE VEHICLES.
I REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO MY DEALER 8/21/17 AND HAVE THE EMAIL CHAIN SAVED. THE DEALER COULDN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING 60-70 MPH ON 5 LANE HIGHWAY, ENGINE SHUT DOWN. LUCKILY, I WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT HAND LANE AND WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE MY VEHICLE OVER TO THE BURM (THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING). MESSAGE ON DASH SAID 'SHIFT TO P TO PARK' OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. MY VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND I COULDN'T SHIFT IT TO PARK. EVENTUALLY IT BEGAN WORKING. I HAVE 6 KIDS AND DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THEM IN THE VEHICLE. HAPPENED A FEW THOUSAND MILES AGO; VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 10,500 MILES. HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT HAVE TO CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY IT COULD. HAVE ALSO DEALT WITH THUMPING UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR, A NEW PAUSE BETWEEN PARK OR REVERSE AND SHIFTING TO DRIVE, AND THE VEHICLE RECENTLY GOT STUCK IN A GEAR WHILE DRIVING. I'VE ALSO HAD THE A/C COMPRESSOR REPLACED, AMBIENT TEMPERATURE GAUGE REPLACED, DVD PLAYER REPLACED, AND AM WAITING FOR THE NEW RADIO TO ARRIVE, AMONG OTHER ISSUES. MY VEHICLE IS A LEMON IN MY OPINION.
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY APPEARED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, WHILE STILL IN "DRIVE", GOING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE ACCELERATOR WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE AND DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR. THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY SAID "NOT IN PARK" WHILE IN PARK, SHOWED THE REVERSE CAMERA WHILE IN DRIVE, AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN IN DRIVE. I PURCHASED MY 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING L ON 7/22/2017, EVERYTHING WAS GOING GREAT UNTIL MID AUGUST. MY UCONNECT RADIO KEPT FREEZING, THE ENGINE TICKED (STOPPED ITSELF WITHIN A FEW WEEKS), THE TAILGATE GOT STUCK HALF WAY A FEW TIMES TRYING TO AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE. IT'S JUST STOP MIDWAY AND I'LL HAVE TO MANUALLY PUSH IT SHUT CLOSE. WITHIN LATER MONTHS (BEGINNING AROUND OCTOBER) MY BEGAN TO JERK BACK EVERY SO OFTEN (ABOUT TWICE A WEEK) WHILE DRIVING. IT'S HAPPENED AT BOTH HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS SO I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I'VE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A SOLUTION OR 'FIX' FOR THE PROBLEM. MY CAR ON OCCASION HAD BEEN FEELING LIKE IT WAS CUTTING OUT, I THOUGHT I GOT SOME BAD GAS SO I SWITCHED STATIONS AND NOTICED IT LESS. THEN ABOUT A MONTH LATER, IT JUST TURNED OFF IN ROUTE. I WAS AT A FOUR WAY STOP ACCELERATED TO GO AND IT STARTED OUT, I MADE IT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. IT GAVE A NOTICE BY STEERING COLUMN THAT IT NEEDS TO BE IN PARK TO START ENGINE OR SOMETHING. IT DID IT WITH ABOUT 13,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS ABLE TO START THE VAN AFTER I PUT IT IN PARK WITH FOOT ON BRAKE AND CONTINUE ON. IT HAPPENED SO FAST I WAS NOT SURE WHAT WENT WRONG? NOW I READ THAT MANY HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN AS WELL. I AM FEARFUL NOW IT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I AM GOING HIGHER SPEEDS, ETC. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED!
POWER SLINDING DOORS WILL RANDOMLY STOP WORKING. DASHBOARD SHOWS "POWER DOOR UNAVAILABLE. OPERATE MANUALLY". AFTER TAKING IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS WITH A VIDEO SHOWING THE ISSUE, THEY JUST KEEP SAYING THERE ARE NO CODES SO NOTHING CAN BE DONE.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT A STEADY SPEED OF 40 MPH. THE ENGINE DIED, AND THE MESSAGE CONSOLE INDICATED THE VEHICLE MUST BE IN PARK TO START. THE GEARSHIFT WAS STILL IN DRIVE, BUT THE INDICATOR LIGHT SHOWING IT IN D WAS NOW FAST BLINKING. I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND COASTED AS SAFELY AS I COULD OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TO A SIDE ROAD. ONCE STOPPED, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND STARTED IT. IT IDLED VERY ROUGHLY FOR 2-3 SECONDS AND DIED. I THEN WAITED ABOUT 10 SECONDS, STARTED IT AGAIN, AND THIS TIME IT SOUNDED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. NO ERROR INDICATORS DISPLAYED, AND THE DEALER SAID NO ERROR CODES REGISTERED. THIS SAME BEHAVIOR HAS BEEN REPORTED ON A MESSAGE FORUM BY DOZENS OF PACIFICA OWNERS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT RELIABLY REPRODUCIBLE AND PRODUCES NO SYSTEM ERRORS. A NUMBER OF REPORTS INDICATE MULTIPLE "GUESSES" FROM SERVICE TECHS AND CHRYSLER. MANY OF THOSE SAME INDIVIDUALS REPORT THE ISSUE HAPPENING AGAIN AFTERWARD. MY SERVICE TECHNICIAN CLAIMED THAT TSB 18 069 17 ADDRESSES THIS ISSUE AND FLASHED A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE PCM. DRIVING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC (CITY SIDE STREET) THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. NO ENGINE, NO ELECTRONICS, NOTHING. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS OUT OF GAS. HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE WHILE TRAFFIC CONTINUED AROUND ME. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT THIS WAS A ONE-OFF PROBLEM, BUT AFTER READING A NY TIMES ARTICLE, I BECAME CONCERNED. WE HAVE ALSO HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS (REAR TRUNK DOOR WILL SOMETIMES NOT OPEN, TV'S DID NOT FUNCTION FOR SOME TIME).

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STEW HANSEN DODGE RAM CHRYSLER JEEP (2103 HICKMAN RD, URBANDALE, IA 50323, (877) 841-4585 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. *BF *TP
CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE IN DRIVE, 5300 CURRENT MILES. I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN NYC AND CAR SHUT DOWN, EARLIER IN THE DAY I WAS AT A DEALERSHIP IN SAFFORD VA AND THEY PERFORMED SOFTWARE UPDATES BECAUSE THE DAY BEFORE IN FLORIDA WINDOWS OPENED AND CLOSED ON THEIR OWN IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, CLUSTER PANEL WENT ON AND OFF AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. BATTERY MAINTAINED ITS 14 AMP CHARGE FOR THE NEXT 90 MILES I NEEDED TO REACH AUTOTRAIN IN SANFORD FLORIDA. I IMMIEDIATELY WENT TO SERVICE IN SAFFORD VIRGINIA AND THEY SAID IT WAS AN UP[DATE ISSUE. DROVE THE NEXT 260 MILES WITH NO ISSUE UNTIL IT SHUT OFF????..UPDATED 11/07/17 *BF UPDATED 11/9/2017*JS
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY (WITH MY KIDS IN THE BACKSEATS) AND SUDDENLY (FOR NO REASON) THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ELECTRICITY (INCLUDING, POWER STEERING, ENGINE, HEADLIGHTS, DASHBOARD LIGHTING). THE DASHBOARD ONLY SAID "PUT CAR INTO PARK AND RESTART." THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER PARTIALLY ONTO THE SIDE AND RESTART THE CAR AFTER IT WAS IN PARK. (THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME A FEW MINUTES LATER BUT IN THAT CASE THE ELECTRICITY CAME BACK ON ITSELF AFTER A FEW MOMENTS.) INCREASED RPM AT IDEAL, PARKED OR AT BREAK. BREAK FADE & RANDOM LURCHING AT TRAFFIC STOPS. AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS COMPLETE BREAK FAILURE & ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OBSERVED FAILED. A PHONE CALL TO CHRYSLER ON PERSONNEL PHONE RESULTED IN CHRYSLER SENDING A FLATBED WRECKER FOR TRANSPORT TO DEALER SERVICE CENTER IN LEBANON, OHIO. FORTUNATELY IT ALL HAPPENED 2 DAYS BEFORE A TRIP OVER THE SMOKEY MOUNTAINS, INSTEAD OF WHILE ACTUALLY CROSSING THE MOUNTAINS. AFTER REPAIRS AT LEBANON, OHIO CHRYSLER. A VAGUE DESCRIPTION FROM SERVICE CENTER THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE & THEY REPLACED BATTERY. ALL EVENTS LISTED ABOVE DURING THE 2 WEEKS OCCURRED DURING NORMAL DRIVING IN TOWN & ON HIGHWAY.
