TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ONBOARD COMPUTER DISPLAYED A TRANSMISSION CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS NO TRANSMISSION CODE AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CONTACT FUELING THE VEHICLE WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. AFTER 5-6 SECONDS, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED AS THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
1- CRUISE CONTROL CANCEL IS IN THE WRONG PLACE CHANGE IT WITH THE RESUME? 2- HEADLIGHT CONTROL SHOULD BE ON THE OTHER SIDE AS IT CAN BE CHANGED BY MY KNEE? 3- THE ALARM SYSTEM DOESN'T RECOGNIZE MOTORCYCLES AND AS SUCH YOU START TO STOP WATCHING YOUR BACK? 4- BRAKE PEDAL IS TO SMALL AND I FIND MYSELF MISSING IT? 5- THE SIDE MIRRORS DO NOT GO IN AND OUT AUTOMATICALLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BACK UP CAMERA DID NOT CEASE TO FUNCTION EVEN AFTER BEING SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ROUTE 1 CHRYSLER DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO STOP CALLING AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 31318899. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS. CANNOT SEE WITH BACK UP CAMERA IN RAIN, BRIGHT SUNSHINE, OR ANY GLARE. WILL RUN OVER THINGS THIS WEATHER. FORWARD AND SIDE CAMERAS ARE AS UNRELIABLE, BUT REAL PROBLEM US IN BACKING UP VAN. CANNOT SEE BELOW TAILGATE WINDOW HEIGHT. ALSO, PROXIMITY WARNING UNITS ON FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS CHANGE ACTIVATED DISTANCES REGULARLY, AND SOME WORK SPORADICALLY. I LEARNED NOT TO USE THEM BUT AGAIN, AS TEAR CAMERA USELESS, THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS RISK.
AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND APPLYING GAS THE VEHICLE WILL START TO REVERSE AS INTENDED. HOWEVER, AFTER MOVING SEVERAL FEET THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILS AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND TO ADDED PRESSURE FROM THE GAS PEDAL. IT'S AS IF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN AND THE ENGINE REVS ITS RPMS WITH NO RESULT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO ROLL UNCONTROLLABLY. IT CREATES MOMENTS OF CONFUSION FOR THE DRIVER SINCE THEY BELIEVE THEY SHOULD BE MOVING BACKWARDS IN REVERSE BUT THE TRANSMISSION LETS GO AND STARTS TO ACTUALLY ROLL FORWARDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT HOME IN THE DRIVE WAY AS WELL AS IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT. AFTER THE SCENARIO HAPPENS, THE R ON THE SHIFTER BLINKS UNCONTROLLABLY. THE ONLY WAY TO RESET THE CAR IS TO TURN IT OFF AND RESTART IT. AT THAT POINT IT APPEARS THE TRANSMISSION RE-ENGAGES.
We’ve written the NHTSA in the past and have not received a response. We understand Covid was a problem that messed a lot of things up and we’ve been patient until now and we’re writing again hoping for a long awaited response. We purchased new (on 03/10/17) a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica with the factory installed tow package, which Dealer and Chrysler Corp claimed it could tow 3600 pounds, so we can purchase and tow a 3500 pound RV but since the van purchase we have learned that we need trailer brakes on any trailer weighing more than 2500 pounds so the van and trailer could stop safely. After much investigation and many calls with our Dealer, Chrysler Corporation and many RV Dealers, it turns out the 2017 model year that Chrysler Corporation claimed it could tow up to 3600 pounds, can not In fact safely tow over 2500 pounds without a brake controller/trailer brakes and our van, which was purchased with the factory tow package, was not designed or wired to accommodate the necessary brake controller to tow over 2500 pounds and it can not be retrofitted with a necessary brake controller. The Dealer advised taking the matter up with Chrysler Corporation and Chrysler advised taking the matter up with the Dealer, and neither will resolve the safety issue. Can you please tell us if this is a safety issue or if in your opinion we can safely tow a 3500 pound RV without a brake controller and trailer brakes or do you recommend we seek legal counsel. THE FOLLOWING ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TWICE TO MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING OUR NEW CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2017 LIMITED. SHE WAS AT A BUSY HIGHWAY INTERSECTION WAITING FOR HER LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND STARTED TO GO THEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE HALF WAY IN THE INTERSECTION. THE SCREEN STATED THAT CAR MUST BE IN PARK TO PUT IT IN DRIVE. SHE HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK WHILE IN THE INTERSECTION AND THEN PUSH THE BUTTON TO START THE VEHICLE BACK UP. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE BACK UP IT HAS A ROUGH IDLE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN EVERYTHING IS FUNCTIONAL AGAIN. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP THE NEXT DAY, TOLD THE TECHNICIAN WHAT HAD HAPPENED WHO IN TURN HOOKED THE CAR UP TO THE COMPUTER. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY CODES ON IT, AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. NO SOFTWARE UPDATES WERE NEEDED ON THE CAR AS WELL THAT COULD POTENTIAL FIX THIS ISSUE. AFTER THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A "BLACK BOX" TO CAPTURE THE ISSUE IF IT OCCURRED AGAIN, HOWEVER DURING THE WEEK WE HAD IT ON THE VEHICLE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. SINCE THIS TIME OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE HAD 2-3 COMPUTER UPGRADES WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO SOLVE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES HOWEVER THERE ARE STILL TIMES WHERE THE CAR JERKS WHEN WE ACCELERATE. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH. THERE ARE QUITE A LOT OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE A FATAL ACCIDENT OCCURS.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CENTRAL FLORIDA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (8675 COMMODITY CIR, ORLANDO, FL 32819 (407) 351-9940) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE CENTRAL FLORIDA DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOUR DIFFERENT DEALERS (1. JACK POWELL CHRYSLER DEALER, 2. PERFORMANCE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM COLUMBUS, 1130 AUTO MALL DR, COLUMBUS, OH 43228, (614) 272-0000, 3. BYERS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 465 S HAMILTON RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43213, (614) 228-5111, AND 4. FAULKNER DODGE RAM, 6643 CARLISLE PIKE, MECHANICSBURG, PA 17050, (717) 590-5210). THE DEALERS WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BY EACH DEALER AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER SOLUTION OTHER THAN ESCALATING THE CONCERN AND MENTIONED THAT THEY WOULD RESPOND BACK WITHIN 48 HRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STUCK SEVERAL TIMES WHEN APPLIED, AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH FORCE AND THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE SWIPED A METAL POLE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS IMPACTED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER SENT A TECHNICIAN TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 738.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY ROLLED. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A CLICKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED WHILE CHANGING GEARS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT RUST TO THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP AND THE VEHICLE WAS PROVIDED A RUST TREATMENT HOWEVER, THE RUST SPOT INCREASED IN SIZE AFTER THE TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VICTORY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (45 NABER DR, SHALLOTTE, NC 28470, (910) 356-9867) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MECHANIC SEALED THE STEERING COLUMN WITH LOCK TIGHT SEALANT HOWEVER, THE CLICKING SOUND RETURNED AND THE VEHICLE REMAINED DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 7,000.
MY PACIFICA HAS BEEN STALLING OUT WHEN I BACK OUT OR PULL FORWARD AT TIMES.. IT HAS ALSO SHUT OFF WHEN IT WAS IDLING SEVERAL TIMES. THE PACIFICA HAS ALSO STARTED UP ON ITS OWN SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO ONE IN THE CAR.
MY PACIFICA HAS BEEN STALLING OUT WHEN I BACK OUT OR PULL FORWARD AT TIMES. SEVERAL TIMES WHEN IT HAD BEEN IDLING THE CAR SHUT OFF. THE CAR HAS STARTED UP ON IT OWN SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO ONE IN THE CAR.
LAST NIGHT, I OPENED MY CAR DOOR THAT WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT TO PUT MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN HER CAR SEAT. THE SLIDING CAR DOOR FELL OFF, DRIVER'S REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. A DOOR DOES NOT FALL OFF. THE ENTIRE DOOR FELL OFF AND NOT ONLY DID IT FALL ON TOP OF ME THAT I HAD TO CATCH IT BUT THE DOOR SCRATCHED THE WHOLE DRIVER'S SIDE. GLASS SHATTERED AND PIECES OF GLASS FLUNG AT MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I HAVE HAD OVER 6 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND NOW THE WHOLE DOOR FALLS OFF. I'M AT A LOSS OF WORDS RIGHT NOW BUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE, AT ALL!!!! I NEED SOMEONE TO CONTACT ME REGARDING THIS ASAP!
MY DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR RANDOMLY OPENS AFTER BEING CLOSED. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO ERROR CODES. THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME THE DOOR IS OPENED BUT QUITE FREQUENTLY. IN ADDITION, IN JANUARY 2017, MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR CLOSED ON MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS HEAD AND REQUIRED QUITE A BIT OF FORCE TO REOPEN.
WHILE DRIVING PRIMARILY AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN BRAKING AND THEN APPLY ACCELERATION THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY HARD SHIFTS. A NUMBER OF TIMES IN INTERSECTIONS IT IS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS BETWEEN GEARS AND THE CAR IS NOT MOVING AT A SPEED WITH THE AMOUNT OF ACCELERATION BEING APPLIED. THE TRANSMISSION THEN WILL BANG OR JERK INTO GEAR WITH QUITE A BIT OF FORCE. THESE EVENTS SEEM TO OCCUR MORE FREQUENTLY DURING LOWER SPEED DRIVING WHILE SLOWING BEFORE A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THEN THE LIGHT CHANGES AND YOU APPLY ACCELERATION OR WHEN ROLLING AND THEN APPLYING ACCELERATION. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER A NUMBER OF TIMES AND THEY ALWAYS ADVISE THEY CAN NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN DECEMBER 2016.
I PURCHASED A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN OCTOBER 2016 AND IT HAS GIVEN ME NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS EVER SINCE THEN. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIME FOR A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES 1. THE MAIN ISSUE WAS A HESITATION IN ACCELERATION (THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING) EACH TIME WE TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IT, BUT WHEN WE GOT IT HOME THE PROBLEM ALWAYS CAME BACK. IT JUST CONTINUED TO GET WORSE, THE WARRANTY WE PURCHASED RAN OUT AND THE VEHICLE ENDED UP GETTING TOWED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REPAIRS FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP (BECAUSE I LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE DEALERSHIP OF PURCHASE). THE FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT STALLS, STOPS, AND SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC. 2.THE PASSENGER (RIGHT-REAR) TURN SIGNAL AND REVERSE LIGHT (RIGHT) WIRING HAD TO BE REPAIRED AND IS NOW OUT AGAIN ALSO VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PEOPLE DON'T KNOW YOU'RE TURNING RIGHT, WE'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO NOT HAVING A WORKING REAR SIGNAL. 3.THE LIFT GATE STOPPED WORKING 4.THE ENGINE SOUNDS ROUGH LIKE ITS READY TO SHUT OFF. MOST OF THESE ISSUES WERE REPORTED AND/OR REPAIRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED ALL OF THE COST ARE MY RESPONSIBILITY. A LOANER CAR IS NO LONGER AN OPTION SO I HAVE TO PAY FOR RENTALS OR MISS WORK. COPIES OF THE MANY ROADSIDE CALLS AND TOWS ATTACHED.

While driving our minivan it stalls or it seems like the gas isn’t getting to the engine. It has happened when I’ve been accelerating from a side road across a very busy road on more thank e occasion. We thought it was the gas we were using. Now we’ve been advised it is due to a “crank shaft sensor”. (?) We may not be eligible to get it fixed because we got our 2017 Pacifica in Oct 2016, drove it approx. 15,000 miles/ year so we may not be able to get it fixed for free.
MY PACIFICA SLIPS OUT OF GEAR ANYWHERE BETWEEN 15 MPH AND 20 MPH WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY AND/OR TURNING. IT FEELS AS IF IT'S COMING OUT OF GEAR, IDLES FOR 2 SECONDS OR SOMETIMES MORE, THEN SLAMS INTO THE NEXT GEAR CAUSING IT TO FEEL AS IF I WERE REAR ENDED. COMPUTERS HAVE BEEN RESET MULTIPLE TIMES BY THE DEALERSHIP AND IT STARTS IT AGAIN AFTER 2 HOURS. THIS HAS BEEN REOCCURRING SINCE 2 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE.UPDATED 11/08/17 *BF UPDATED 11/13/2017*JS
The contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that two weeks after purchasing the vehicle new, the vehicle would jerk while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal. The RPM’s was stuck on 2,000 RPM. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic test was completed. The contact did not recall whether the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was then taking to an independent mechanic several times where unknown repairs were completed; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed with evaporative emission system failure. Additionally, the contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and coming to a complete stop, the engine was making a loud banging sound before the vehicle shut off. The electronic throttle control warning light was illuminated and the message "Service electronic stability" was displayed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an unknown repair was completed; however, the check engine warning light illuminated for several days. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 11.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,200.
ACC & FCW. MINE DID NOT WORK. THE DEALER HAD MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS. THEY HAD TO CONTACT THE CHRYSLER ENGINEER & WAS TOLD TO REPLACE & RE-CALIBRATE. SO AFTER BEING REPLACED IT SOMEWHAT WORKS. AFTER THE NEW PARTS, MY CAR WILL STILL BRAKE HARD WHEN A CAR IN THE ADJACENT LANE IS EXITING (AS IF THE CAR WAS BRAKING IN FRONT OF ME). BUT, IF A CAR CHANGES LANES DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME OR SLAMS ON BRAKES DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME MY CAR DOESN'T REACT? CHRYSLER HAS DEFINITELY FALLEN SHORT ON THIS FUNCTION. I'VE OWNED VEHICLES WHERE THIS FUNCTION WORKED NEARLY FLAWLESS. CHRYSLER SAYS ITS AS GOOD AS ITS GOING TO GET. ANOTHER MISREPRESENTATION ON THIS FEATURE! I'M DISAPPOINTED. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT MAINTAINING A FIXED SPEED ON DOWNHILLS AND THAT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO HIGHLY ACCELERATE TO A DEFICIT SPEED OF AROUND 20 MPH MORE THAN THE FIXED SPEED SELECTED. THIS COULD LEAD TO DEADLY ACCIDENTS AND NEED TO BE FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BY A TAG OF SAFETY ALERT. THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND I WENT TO DEALERSHIP TO TELL THEM ABOUT IT, BUT THEY DIDN'T LIKE TO LISTEN AND/OR TO ESCALATE THE ISSUE TO MANUFACTURER. AUTOMATIC PARKING BRAKE-SELECTING NEUTRAL FOR CAR WASH WITH ENGINE RUNNING, PARK ENGAGES BY ITSELF CAUSING CAR WASH ROLLERS TO JUMP THE WHEEL THAT IS DRIVEN. VERY HARD TO KEEP IN NEUTRAL LONG ENOUGH FOR CAR WASH TO FINISH CORRECTLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE PARTWAY THRU THE CAR WASH WITH NO INPUT FROM DRIVER. HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AT INITIAL PLACING INTO NEUTRAL, SOMETIMES CAUSING CAR WASH TO LOCKUP, THE CAR WASH WILL NOT LET THE CAR GO THRU WITHOUT A DRIVER BECAUSE OF THIS INTERMITTENT GOING INTO PARK BY ITSELF. -DOESN'T ALWAYS TURN OFF PARKING BRAKE WHEN SELECTING R OR D, AS IT SHOULD. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE GOING THRU A CAR WASH, CAUSING CAR WASH TO EITHER EMERGENCY STOP OR GOING ON UNDER WHEELS . DEALER STATES THAT TURNING OFF AUTOMATIC PARKING BRAKE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. DON'T WANT TO TURN ON AND OFF EVERY TIME I GO THRU A CAR WASH. DEALER ALSO STATED THAT YOU CAN'T TURN OFF THE FEATURE THAT TURNS PB OFF WHEN SELECTING DRIVE OR REVERSE. STATEMENTS FROM DEALER ARE COUNTER TO THE NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES SINCE I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE.
THE FCW (FORWARD COLLISION WARNINGS SYSTEM) APPEARS TO HAVE AN ISSUE. THE UNIT HAVE NOT WARNED ONES WHILE DRIVING AFTER 6000 MILES (AND WE HAVE HAD CLOSE CALLS) ALSO TESTED AS WE HAD SIMILAR SYSTEM ON OTHER CARS. THE DEALER HAVE LOOKED AT IT BUT CAN'T FIND ANY ISSUE, EVEN WHEN THE CAR SYSTEM SHOWED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FCW, THE DEALERS TECHNICIAN DID NOT GET ANY ERROR COD WHEN LOGGED IN TO THE CARS ON-BOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM. *TR

I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AND WE CAME 6 INCHES AWAY FROM BEING HIT BY A SEMI AS WE TRIED TO NAVIGATE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH ZERO VISIBILITY. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO SHAKE AT IDLE. 9/8/17 30000 MILES DRIVEN WHEN I PRESS ACCELERATOR FROM STOPPED POSITION, VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE. I PRESS HARDER AND VEHICLE MAKES A CLUNK THEN SURGES FROM 0 TO 53 MPH AND THE BRAKE IS FIRM AND I HAVE TROUBLE SLOWING DOWN. WITHIN 15 MINUTES WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT 48 MPH ENGINE DIES AND VEHICLE STOPS BLOCKING TRAFFIC BOTH WAYS IN AN INTERSECTION WHERE TRAFFIC TRAVELS AT 45-50 MPH. MESSAGE ON DASH SAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" BUT BRAKE IS HARD AND SHIFT KNOB WILL NOT TURN TO P. USING PUSH BUTTON START I AM ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE IN DRIVE AND PROCEED TO DEALER WHERE THE CHRYSLER SERVICE TEAM TELLS ME THAT I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIX IT UNLESS THEY SEE IT HAPPEN. I ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE WITH THE PACIFICA. THE SLIDING DOORS CONTINUES TO CLOSE ALL THE WAY EVEN WHEN SOMEONE/SOMETHING IS IN THE WAY. I EXPECTED THE SLIDING DOORS TO RETRACT ON CONTACT. WITHOUT THIS RETRACTION, A CHILD COULD EASILY GET CAUGHT AND CRUSHED BY THE DOORS AS THE DOOR MOTORS ARE VERY POWERFUL. I REPORTED THIS TO CHRYSLER ON SEPTEMBER 8. I TOOK IN THE PACIFICA TO A DEALERSHIP BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. CHRYSLER HAS BEEN UNRESPONSIVE SINCE.
THE POWER SLIDING SIDE DOORS MAKE A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WHEN OPENING & CLOSING. WE'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE 4 DAYS. FIRST THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR STARTED IN THE MORNING, THE SAME DAY IN THE AFTERNOON THE LEFT SIDE DOOR STARTED. THE SERVICE DEALER CHECKED IT AND COMMENTED THAT THE BEARINGS MIGHT HAVE BROKEN IN THE UPPER TRACT. THEY MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO REPAIR. ALSO THE BLUETOOTH WILL NOT CONNECT. IT IS VERY GLITCHY. IT SOMETIMES SEES THE PHONE, BUT IT CAN NOT BE USED AT ALL AND THE PHONE STATES TO 'MAKE SURE NEARBY DEVICE IS ON, CONNECTION WAS LOST'. THE CAR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS WON'T FORGET THE DEVICE EASILY TO RETRY. TWO SEPARATE PHONE CALLS TO UCONNECT SERVICE ASSISTANCE AND IT STILL WOULD NOT WORK EVEN AFTER TWO DIFFERENT 'SOFT RESETS' AS DIRECTED BY SERVICE. 4 DIFFERENT SMARTPHONES WE'RE TRIED AND EVEN AN IPOD TOUCH. ALL OF WHICH HAD NO PROBLEM CONNECTING TO OTHER BLUETOOTH DEVICES. BOTH ISSUES ARE SCHEDULED TO BE REPAIRED...FRUSTRATING ISSUES FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE.
I HAVE A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA EQUIPPED WITH A FCW (FRONTAL COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM). I HAVE OWNED AND DRIVEN OTHER CARS WITH THIS SYSTEM THAT HAVE OPERATED WITHOUT ISSUE. THE FCW IN THE PACIFICA HAS THREE SETTINGS THAT CAN BE SELECTED BY THE DRIVER FOR SENSITIVITY. NEAR, MEDIUM AND FAR. I HAVE TRIED ALL SETTINGS WITHOUT ANY DIFFERENCE. THE SYSTEM DOES NOT AUDIBLY WARN THE DRIVER OF A POSSIBLE IMPENDING COLLISION AT ANY SPEED OR DISTANCE UNDER ALMOST ALL DAILY DRIVING SCENARIOS. THIS INCLUDES HEAVY TRAFFIC, CITY AND HIGHWAY, AND SITUATIONS WITH FREQUENT ABRUPT STOPS. I HAVE DRIVEN 4,135 MILES IN TWO WEEKS IN VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH LOTS OF EMERGENCY BREAKING WITH NO WARNING FROM THE FCW ON THE PACIFICA. THE SYSTEM HAS ACTIVATED ONCE WITH AN APPROXIMATE DISTANCE OF 5-7 FEET, UPON APPROACHING A CHRYSLER 200 AT AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE DEALER TECHNICIAN STATES NO CODES ARE IN THE SYSTEM, AND THEREFOR IT IS FUNCTIONING. I DISCUSSED THIS MATTER WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO IS ESCALATING THE MATTER TO CHRYSLER DEALER SUPPORT FOR FURTHER EVALUATION AND FOLLOW-UP AFTER HE EXPERIENCED MY ISSUE ON A TEST DRIVE. IN ADDITION, THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT OPERATE PER THE VIDEOS CHRYSLER PUBLISHES ON ITS WEBSITE AS AN EXAMPLE OF FCW ON ITS CARS. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH FCW, I BELIEVE THE FCW ON THE PACIFICA IS NOT PROPERLY CALIBRATED TO WARN DRIVERS OF IMPENDING COLLISIONS VIA AN AUDIBLE ALERT AS DESCRIBED IN MARKETING MATERIALS AND IN COMPARISON TO OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE DRIVEN WITH THIS FEATURE.
BACK-UP CAMERA ISSUE - WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA REMAINS BLACK (OR VERY FUZZY) ONLY READING "CHECK ENTIRE SURROUNDINGS." I'VE ONLY HAD IT HAPPEN AFTER I FIRST START THE CAR IN THE MORNING, USUALLY WHEN IT'S DARK OUTSIDE. IT'S AS IF IT ISN'T ADJUSTING TO THE LIGHTING OUTSIDE. EITHER WAY, OBVIOUSLY I CAN USE MY MIRRORS, BUT THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT IF IT'S INSTALLED, IT SHOULD WORK PROPERLY.
MY CONCERN IS WITH CHRYSLER'S FCW SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK AS DESCRIBED IN THEIR OWNER'S MANUAL BOTH IN CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. SPECIFICALLY IT DOES NOT DETECT, NO MATTER THE SELECTABLE SETTINGS, THAT MY VEHICLE IS APPROACHING A CAR AHEAD DANGEROUSLY. THE SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO WARN WITH SOUND, DISPLAY, AND BRAKE NUDGE. ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER, THE SYSTEM WILL ONLY WORK AS DESCRIBED IF I AM APPROACHING THE VEHICLE HEAD UNSAFELY WITH MY FOOT STILL PRESSING THE GAS. HOWEVER, EVEN WITH MY FOOT STILL PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE, THE SYSTEM WILL NOT RESPOND WITH ANY OF THE WARNINGS. I HAVE REPORTED MY CONCERN TO THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT MY COMPLAINT SINCE THERE ARE NO TROUBLE SERVICE CODES LOGGED IN THE VEHICLE. THE ACC SYSTEM WORKS AS DESCRIBED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE FCW SYSTEM USES MANY OF THE ACC SYSTEM WITHOUT THE AUTO BRAKING FEATURE. THE FCW SYSTEM SHOULD WORK, BUT IT DOESN'T. THE SYSTEM IN MY VEHICLE IS USELESS SINCE IT DOES NOT DO WHAT IT IS INTENDED TO DO WHICH IS TO MITIGATE A COLLISION BY ALERTING AN INATTENTIVE DRIVER.

I TEST DROVE ONE OF THESE VANS AT A DODGE DEALERSHIP IN SACRAMENTO. WHEN I SAT IN THE THIRD ROW MIDDLE SEAT, THE SEATBELT WENT OVER BY NECK RATHER THAN OVER MY CLAVICLE. AS A BOARD-CERTIFIED EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN, I AM WELL AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL RISK TO LIFE THAT THIS POSES, AND IT WAS ONE OF MY REASONS FOR NOT BUYING THE VEHICLE. TO BE CLEAR, I DO NOT OWN THIS VEHICLE NOR WAS I INJURED BY IT. HOWEVER I AM 5'9" TALL AND I THINK ANYONE LESS THAN 6 FEET TALL IS LIKELY TO BE INJURED BY THE SEATBELT SINCE IT WILL NOT FIT THEM CORRECTLY AND THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST IT. OBVIOUSLY THE PERSON STUCK IN THE THIRD ROW MIDDLE SEAT IS LIKELY TO BE A SMALL PERSON. THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN THAT NEEDS TO BE RE-ENGINEERED TO AVOID INJURING CONSUMERS. IN ORDER TO FILL OUT THIS FORM ONLINE, I HAD TO SUBMIT A VIN. I SELECTED A VIN I FOUND ON THE INTERNET THAT MATCHES THE MAKE AND MODEL. I DID NOT ACTUALLY DRIVE THAT VEHICLE. THE ONE I DROVE HAS A VIN THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE TO ME. IT SHOULD NOT MATTER AS THIS IS A STANDARD FEATURE OF THE CAR.

MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED TO TRY TURNING THE CAR OFF IN THE HOPE THAT THE MATTER WOULD RESOLVE ITSELF AND THAT IS WHEN WE DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHUT DOWN. NO MATTER WHAT WE DID IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF OR SHIFT INTO PARK. WE IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DROPPED THE CAR OFF SINCE WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT ELSE WE COULD DO AND IT WAS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE. TODAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2016 I EXPERIENCED ANOTHER ELECTRICAL PARKING PROBLEM. WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC AND A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY FROM OTHER CARS THE EMERGENCY BREAKING ALARM WENT OFF. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF CROSSING AN INTERSECTION WHEN THE ALARM STARTED BLARING AND "BREAK" FLASHED IN LARGE RED LETTERS. IN MY OPINION THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THAT WARNING AND I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE MIGHT BE SOMEHOW TIED TO THE OTHER ISSUES LISTED ABOVE. THE FIRST ISSUES OCCURED ON 07-10-2016.
BACKUP CAMERA ISSUE: WHEN ENTERING OR EXITING GARAGE IN REVERSE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS (OR ANY AREA WITH A MODERATE CHANGE IN LIGHTING) THE DEFAULT CAMERA VIEW (TOP[360]& REAR) IS DISPLAYED. THE REAR CAMERA DOES NOT ADJUST TO THE LOWER LIGHT CONTRAST AND THE IMAGE DISPLAYED IS ALL BLACK, YOU CANNOT SEE A THING (SEE PICTURE ATTACHED). THIS COULD LEAD TO SOMEONE OR SOMETHING GETTING RUN OVER. A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

I HAVE DRIVEN OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS FEATURE AND SO FAR THE PACIFICA HAS NOT ACTED LIKE THOSE. MY WIFE SAID IT HAS WENT OFF TWICE ON HER AND SHE REALLY COULD TELL WHY. I HAVE ALSO SO HAD THE ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR GRINDING FROM DAY ONE. TODAY WHEN WE GOT OUR FIRST OIL CHANGE THEY TOLD US THE BALLING BEARING WAS BUSTED AND WE HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK TO GET IT REPLACED TOMORROW. THE RAIN SENSING WIPER FEATURE DOES NOT WORK, AND IT IS TURNED ON IN THE UCONNECT SETTINGS. ALSO, AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF OWNERSHIP I NOTICED THAT THE BEEP ON THE REAR GATE AS IT CLOSED CHANGED TO A HIGHER PITCHED MORE ANNOYING SOUND, BUT IT STILL WORKS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE "SHIFT TO PARK" ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER COMPLETELY, BUT WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED BY SHIFTING TO PARK. IN ADDITION, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AND LURCHED FORWARD WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. HEGGS CHRYSLER IN MASA, ARIZONA REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER AND REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY LOCAL DEALER (CONFIRMED BY FCA LLC) HAS TOLD ME THAT WE CANNOT GET THE AUTONOMOUS BRAKING AND LANE ASSIST ON THE PACIFICA TOURING TRIM LEVEL; ONLY ON THE MORE EXPENSIVE TOURING L-PLUS! THESE SHOULD BE OPTIONS ON ALL TRIM LEVELS SO A FAMILY WHO WANTS SAFETY MORE THAN FANCY CAN SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON SAFETY OPTIONS AND NOT BE FORCED TO PAY $7000 MORE FOR FANCY TO BE ABLE TO GET MORE SAFETY!!!! CAN YOU PUT PRESSURE ON THEM TO OFFER THE ALP ADVANCED SAFETY OPTION ON LOWER TRIM LEVELS?
I OWNED A CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY THAT JUST SHUT DOWN ON ME SEVERAL TIMES. ONCE GOING 65 MPH ON I85 ON MY WAY THO CHARLOTTE, NC. I ALMOST GOT KILLED. I TOOK THE VAN IN TO LAKE NORMAN CHRYSLER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. WHEN I GOT BACK HOME I TOOK MY VAN THO MY LOCAL DEALER NICHOLS CHRYSLER. THEY FOUND NOTHING. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, NOTHING. THE VAN KEPT DURING DOWN AND IT WAS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. I GOT RID OF THE VAN AND BOUGHT A NEW PACIFICA FROM NICHOLS CHRYSLER. NOW I SEE THAT THIS VAN IS SHUTTING DOWN JUST LIKE THE TOWN & COUNTRY DID. MY PACIFICA HAD NOT SHUT DOWN ON ME THO DATE BUT THERE IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT CHRYSLER OF NOT TELLING OWNERS ABOUT. I TOOK MY PACIFICA IN TO NICHOLS TO BE CHECKED AND JUST LIKE THE TOWN AND COUNTRY THEY COULD FIND MORNING WRONG. I DO NOT WANT THO DRIVE MY NEW VAN ANYMORE. IT IS TOO DANGEROUS TO MY FAMILY AND TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. PLEASE GET CHRYSLER TO STOP PRODUCTION UNTIL THEY FIGURE THIS OUT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
