Driving on [XXX] in Indiana my rpm’s began to accelerate and I hit my breaks and once I got to 30 mph my breaks went out. I looked online and one after another of complaints for exactly this has been posted in rooms. It was towed to our mechanic and hopefully he can figure out why INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Random stalling upon deceleration with no warning lights after stalling (as if the engine thinks it is still running). Occurs at low speed. Sometimes the engine will surge when the rpm drops off instead of stalling. I have almost run into other cars when the surging happens. The stalling occurs randomly and is becoming more frequent. A scan of the internet shows many others with same issue. No CEL.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with smoke coming from underneath the hood. Smoke then entered the cabin of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the odometer was inoperable. The contact restarted the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that her daughter had asthma; however, the contact and her two children did not receive medical attention. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to tow the vehicle to their location. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was unavailable.
Car will start sometimes and then will not. Replaced 20 amp fuse and it will start. Maybe 10-15 times it will start and then it will not. My wife drives the car and is very concerning to her. Have looked at other complaints on your site about this and no one has had it resolved!!!!
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while her fiancée was driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle seemed as if it was running out of gasoline. The check engine and a fuel warning light were illuminated. The driver pulled over at a service station and became aware of gasoline pouring from the fuel return. The driver parked the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH IS ON. MEANING AIR BAG IS NOT OPERATIONAL.
DRIVERS SIDE BALL JOINT BROKE WHILE TURNING ONTO HIGHWAY. TIRE SEPARATED FROM CAR AND AXLE SEPARATED FROM TRANSAXLE. APPROXIMATE SPEED LESS THAN 6MPH. NO CONTOL OF CAR AFTER INCIDENT.
I HEARD A POP THE A LOT OF SMOKE CAME IN THE CAR, I PULLED OVER AND POPPED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS A FIRE BY THE FIREWALL, THE FUEL RLN HAD CAUGHT FIRE. *TR
THIS CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE HAD THE LEFT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT FAIL AND SEPARATE FROM THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THIS FAILURE RESULTED IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR. THE LOCATION HAPPENED ON SMOOTHLY PAVED SPRING RUN ROAD EXTENSION LOCATED IN PENNSYLVANIA, ALLEGHENY COUNTY,IN MOON TOWNSHIP. THE TIME OF THIS EVENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 6:15 A.M.

BALL JOINT BROKE WHILE LEAVING FROM IN FRONT OF MY HOME LUCELY
AS I DRIVE MY SEBRING, EVERY DIP, HOLE OR CREVASSE MY CAR HITS(GOING 30 AND UP ITS DANGEROUS) SENDS IT WAY TO THE SIDE, DOESN'T HAVE AN EXACT SIDE EITHER. DOES IT BOTH WAYS. I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH MY LOWER BALL JOINTS SO POSSIBLY MY CONTROL ARMS AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THIS SPECIFIC CAR HAD ISSUES WITH THE CONTROL ARMS. THE WAY THE CAR DRIVES RIGHT NOW IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS AND I WAS JUST CURIOUS IF THIS CAR DID ACTUALLY HAVE A RECALL OR A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.

HAD FUEL PUMP REPLACED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. THEN AT GAS STATION WOULDNT START AT ALL, HAD A TOW TRUCK TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC AND THAT MECHANIC TAPPED ON GAS TANK AND IT STARTED AND SAID FUEL PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACE SO I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE THE NEW FUEL PUMP HAD A WARRANTY. THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH FUEL PUMP BUT FOUND PROBLEM WIRH #2 SELINOID AND THEY REPLACED IT. TWO WEEKS LATER THS CAR WAS DRIVING FINE BUT WHEN I GOT HOME AND TURNED OFF THE CAR FOR A COUPLE HOURS IT STARTED RIGHT UP. SO I TURNED IT OFF AND ON A COUPLE TIMES THEN THE ENGINE SURGED THEN HESTITATED THEN DIED. IT DID IT TWICE AFTER STARTING IT THEN TURNING ITVON ABOUT 5 TIMES TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH IT. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN FEBRUARY 2017. I HAD BOTH STRUT MOUNTS FIXED, FUEL PUMP, AN AIR VALVE FROM COOLANT DO NOT REMEMBER EXACT NAME, #2 SELINOID NOW THIS PROBLEM. I STILL OWE ON THIS CAR AND ITS NOT RELIABLE AND SCARED TO DRIVE IT AND WRECK.

WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO STOP, THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD. (FORCEFULL), SO MUCH THAT I HIT SOMEONE THAT WAS 5+FT INFRONT OF ME I DO NOT HAVE PICTURES WITH ME. BUT I CAN PROVIDE THEM AND ALSO THE REPAIR BILL

WHEN IN MOTION LEAKS COOLANT ON PUBLIC ROADS...ONCE AGAIN. HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE WHEN THIS SAID VEHICLE HAD 70,000 MILES ON IT AT THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. REPLACED WATER PUMP.

BACKED OUT OF A PARKING SPOT SHIFTED INTO DRIVE ENGINE BUCKED TWICE AND STALLED. A FEW MINUTES LATER WAS STOPPED AT RED LIGHT, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE ENGINE SURGED AND CAR LURCHED FORWARD.
THE HEADGASKET HAS FAILED FOR THE THIRD TIME IN FOUR YEARS.
WHEN CRUISE CONTROL ON, WHEN YOU STEP ON BRAKE AT STOPLIGHT, ACCELERATES UN- CONTROLLABLY. MUST SLAM ON BRAKES, SHIFT TO NEUTRAL, AND TURN IGNITION OFF. THEN WOULD ACCELERATE AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES WHEN TRYING TO RESTART CAR. I THINK CRUISE CONTROL FINALLY WENT OFF.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND THE CONTROL ARM SNAPPED CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. I HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC. THE CONTROL ARMS AND SOME OTHER PARTS WERE REPLACED. USING MY CARS VIN THERE IS NOT A RECALL BUT ON THIS WEBSITE THERE IS A RECALL FOR SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL FOR THE SAME REASON. I CALLED CHRYSLER 800-992-1997 AND SPOKE WITH MICAH AND SHE EXPLAINED THAT SHE DOES NOT EVEN SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRINGS CASE# 28647014. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 04V313000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AND 03V443000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. "TAKATA RECALL" THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON FREQUENTLY. MY DAUGHTER ALSO HAS A SEBRING CONVERTIBLE AND HER DOES THE SAME THING ONLY IT IS A 2002. THIS SEEMS MORE THAN A COINCIDENCE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLES ARE IN MOTION. SOMETIMES A WARNING SOUND HAPPENS AND SOMETIMES NOT ON BOTH VEHICLES.
I WAS CROSSING 4 LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND MY CAR STALLED AND DIED. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD HAPPENED SO I WAS UNSURE WHAT TO DO. THANK GOODNESS I PUT MY CAR IN P AND RESTARTED IT IN ENOUGH TIME TO GET OUT OF THE WAY BEFORE I WAS HIT. THIS HAS AGAIN HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST 10+ YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. FUNNILY ENOUGH, AS I PULLED UP TO MY BANK TO MAKE MY FINAL CAR PAYMENT, THE CAR ALSO STALLED. IT WAS TOO IRONIC. I BOUGHT MY 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING SEDAN IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. TWO MONTHS LATER IN APRIL THE BALL STUDS ON MY TIRES WERE POPPING OFF WHILE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR STARTED WOBBLING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE PLACE WHERE I GOT IT FROM AND THEY FIXED IT. TWO MONTHS LATER IN JUNE THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE SAME TIRE. THE BALL STUDS FLEW OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THE TIRE WAS HANGING ON BY ONE BALL STUD THE OTHERS WERE BROKEN OFF. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP AND IT WAS FIXED. NOW IN AUGUST MY BALL JOINT SNAPPED AS I WAS BACKING OUT A PARKING SPACE, WITH NO WARNING. THE WHOLE CAR FELL TO THE GROUND. THIS CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THERE IS NO REASON WHY THE BALL STUDS AND BALL JOINT SHOULD BREAK SO EASILY. IF I WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET OR EVEN ON THE PARKWAY I WOULD'VE LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED. *TR
I GOT THE CAR ON JAN 1,14..SINCE I HAD THIS I HAVE PROBLEMS. IN JULY 14 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE FUEL PUMP WENT ON THE CAR..AND ITS READING GAS LEAK AS OF NOW .ALSO THE CAR ACCELERATES BY ITS SELF I WOULD BE DRIVING DOING 60 MPH AND IT WILL A ACCELERATES AND IT SCARES ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR SOME TIMES.ALSO THE SEAT BELTS WERE PUT IN THE WRONG WAY. UMBALL STUD SEPARATED FROM THE SOCKET OF THE BOLT JOINT CAUSING THE CONTROL ARM TO COLLAPSE AND THE WHEEL TO FOLD IN. UPON HITTING THE GROUND, BIG AMOUNY OF UNKNOWN OIL SPILLED.
ME AND MY KIDS WAS LEAVING OUR HOUSE AND DRIVING DOWN THE STREET I RODE ABOUT 5MILES AND THEN MY CAR START TO SWIRL THEN IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO STEER. SO I GOT OUT THE CAR AND NOTICE MY FRONT TIRE HAD WENT IN. AND I HAD TO HAVE A TOW TRUCK TAKE MY CAR BACK TO THE HOUSE. AND COME TO FIND OUT THE BALL JOINT HAD BROKE. BUT BEFORE ALL OF THIS I HAD NEVER RECEIVE NO RECALL TO BRING MY CAR IN TO GET THIS CHECK AND I'M DOING RESEARCH AND IT STATES THAT THEY HAVE HAD A RECALL ON THIS BUT I NEVER RECEIVE NO INFORMATION. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN THE END OF ME AND MY KIDS LIVES IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
I SMELLED A BURNING SMELL THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE FOUND A LOT OF STRESS CRACKS IN THE OIL PAN WHICH IS ALUMINUM TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY THE ENGINE DIDN'T SEIZE OR CATCH ON FIRE THE EXHAUST PIE IS UNDER ONE OF THE CRACKS AND AS THE CAR GOT HOT THAT CRACK EXPANDED. THERE ARE SEVERAL MORE IN THE PAN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING TOURING CONVERTIBLE. THE CONTACT HEARD A MEDAL TO METAL SOUND IN THE WHEELS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE BRAKES ON APRIL 20, 2014. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT IF THE BALL JOINTS WERE NOT REPLACED, AN ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. THE BALL JOINTS WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT BUT DID NOT OFFER A REMEDY. THE MILEAGE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED WAS 40,921. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,220. LG
MY 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING LT STALLED OUT ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF IN INTERSECTION IN A LEFT TURN LANE. COULD NOT GET CAR RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY AND WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ONCE I HAD RESTARTED THE VEHICLE I MOVED OVER TO THE SHOULDER WHERE IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND THIS ALSO HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. THIS IS DANGEROUS. IF STALL WOULD HAVE HAPPENED 2 SECONDS LATER I WOULD'VE BEEN T-BONED BY A PICKUP TRUCK. UPON STALL THE CAR ENGAGED THE E-BRAKE AND ALSO LIT UP THE FOLLOWING WARNING LIGHTS : ENGAGED EBRAKE, OIL, BATTERY, AND ENGINE. *TR
