SECOND COMPLAINT. THE FIRST PARAGRAPH LISTED IS FROM FIRST COMPLAINT WITH AN UPDATE OF A RECENT ISSUE. *OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW MONTHS, VAN WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. NOTHING WOULD WORK, OBVIOUSLY, SO I WOULD HAVE TO BRAKE AND TRY TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAPPENED 3 TO 4 TIMES WITHIN A FEW MONTHS AROUND APRIL 2014. FRIENDS RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE IGNITION SWITCH-THEY HAVE A VAN LIKE OURS BUT A DIFFERENT YEAR. WE ARE NOT ON THE LIST FOR REPAIR. WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT SO THE COMPANY IS AWARE OF THE SITUATION. I DID CALL CHRYSLER AND SPEAK WITH A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP ALSO. THEY TOOK SOME INFORMATION AND MADE A CASE NUMBER FOR US. WE ARE CONCERNED THIS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AND DON'T WANT TO PUT OUR FAMILY AT RISK WHILE DRIVING. WE HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND WANT TO MAKE SURE OUR VEHICLE IS SAFE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *UPDATE-SEPTEMBER 2015 I RECEIVED A FORM FROM YOUR OFFICE TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (REFERENCE 10727012). I WILL BE MAILING THAT SHORTLY. HOWEVER, THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AND WE WANT TO REPORT IT. CHRYSLER HAS CLOSED THE CASE AND SAID IT IS OUT OF POCKET COST FOR US. THEY ADMITTED THAT THEY HAVE HAD COMPLAINTS REGARDING OUR MAKE/YEAR FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS. THEY ARE NOT BEING HELPFUL. OUR VAN SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2015 AND SEPTEMBER 15, 2015. BOTH TIMES I WAS GOING AROUND 30-35 MILES PER HOUR. PLEASE HELP! WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT OUR SAFETY AND OUR CHILDREN'S SAFETY! THANK YOU! *TR
THE KEY GETS STUCK TO THE IGNITION, I HAVE TO JIGGLE THE GEARS OR SHIFT AND THEN RE-START THE MINIVAN TO TRY AND RELEASE THE KEY. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 10-15 MINUTES! THERE IS NO PATTERN TO THIS. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED NOW TWICE AND I WILL BE TAKING IT IN AGAIN TOMORROW AFTER A "DEFECTIVE CABLE" FOR WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR, WAS REPLACED AND ADJUSTMENTS MADE, ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE INVOICE. NOT SURE IF IT IS RELATED TO THE 2011 RECALL BUT I HAVE CERTAINLY HAD MORE ISSUES SINCE THEN ALL RELATED TO THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHICH PRODUCED UNKNOWN FAILURE CODES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH ON RECALL. DEALER HAS UNHOOKED IT, BUT I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AND PERSONALLY TAKEN THE VAN TO THEM, BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE VERY FIRST RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AFTER REACHING 90,000 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, CONTACT STATES THERE IS NO STEERING OR BRAKES AT THIS POINT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT RESTARTED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRIENDSHIP CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2638 W STATE ST, BRISTOL, TN 37620, (888) 374-3633) AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT COMPLIED, BUT THE DEALER STILL COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,710. *BF*JB
VAN HAS WIRELESS IGNITION SYSTEM PROBLEMS. VAN HAS INTERMITTENT SHUT OFF, VAN HAS INTERMITTENT NO START ISSUES. VAN HAS INTERMITTENT WARNING CLUSTER, WIPER, GAUGES, AND HEADLIGHT SHUT OFF AND ON PROBLEMS. VAN IS DANGEROUS TO MY FAM. AND OTHERS!!!!!!! FOUND RECALL L-25 BUT THIS IS FRAUD RECALL; ONLY INSTALLING RUBBER RING ON WIN MODULE. CHRYSLER MUST SERVICE ALL VEHICLES WITH THESE PROBLEMS ASAP BEFORE THEY GET IN MORE LAWSUITS AND KILL MORE PEOPLE. I WAS DRIVING MY TOWN AND COUNTRY CHRYSLER MINIVAN ON THE WAY DOWN TO ORLANDO, FLORIDA AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTOFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY MULTIPLE CARS ON THE INTERSTATE AS I COULD NOT ACCELERATE SINCE THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND PULLED OVER IN ORDER TO PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND RESTART THE VAN. MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS WITH ME. WE COULD ALL HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED IF THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD HIT ME.**THIS IS RIDICULOUS! A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!** *TR
THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL AT THE RATE OF MORE THAN 1QT PER 1000 MILES. CHRYSLER SAYS THIS IS ACCEPTABLE WITHIN THEIR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 2010 VEHICLE WITH 59000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. NO OTHER INDICATIONS OR WARNING LIGHTS AT THE TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES AN HOUR WHEN IT SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. VEHICLE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION TO AVOID COLLISION. *TR
THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEATH. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $680 TO FIX IT. YES, THIS IS AN EGR VALVE ISSUE. THIS IS NOT AS THOUGH THE SUNROOF WONT OPEN. THE CAR TURNS COMPLETELY OFF LEAVING NO STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, STEERING AND TURNING. THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE THAT THIS IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED AS OF YET BY CHRYSLER. I WILL BE TAKING THE COMPANY TO COURT IF THIS IS NOT ADDRESSED BY MARCH 29, 2014. I CARRY INFANT BABIES IN MY CAR. CORRODED NUT ON LEFT FRONT WHEEL VALVE STEM ALLOWED THE STEM TO DROP INTO THE TIRE RESULTING IN SUDDEN LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE IN TIRE. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO VERY SUDDEN FLAT TIRE. *TR
CAME OUT OF CHURCH SERVICES ON MARCH 16, 2014 AND READ OUT SAID "DAMAGED KEY" OPENED THE DOOR AND READ OUT SAID "KEY IN IGNITION", BUT THE KEY WAS STILL IN MY HAND. BELLS WERE DINGING, DOORS & LIGHTS WORKED BUT THE VAN WOULD NOT START, NO MATTER WHAT. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED FOR MAINTENANCE. THIS OCCURRED 4 TIMES TO THIS DATE; LAST NIGHT BEING THE LATEST. DID GET A NEW KEY FOB ON APRIL 14, 2014 & HAD NO MORE ISSUES UNTIL LAST NIGHT. HAD BEEN SHOPPING CAME OUT OF THE STORE, OPENED THE DOOR AND BELLS WERE DINGING, WITH "KEY IN IGNITION" SHOWING ON THE READ OUT. HAD MY CHILDREN WITH ME IN A NOT SO SAFE AREA TO BE STRANDED IN. CALLED FOR HELP, BUT VAN WOULD NOT START FOR 2 HRS. IT WAS DARK WHEN IT STARTED. WENT STRAIGHT HOME. TRIED TO GO OUT THE NEXT MORNING AND IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON FEB 15, 2014 AND HAD THIS EXACT ISSUE A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES. HATE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND WILL GET RID OF IT ASAP. EVEN IF IT MEANS LOSING MY GOOD CREDIT. I WONT PAY A MONTHLY NOTE FOR AN UNRELIABLE VEHICLE. THIS IS AWFUL AND CHRYSLER SHOULD DO A RECALL ON FAULTY SWITCHES FOR THE 2010 TOWN & COUNTRY. I HAVEN'T REACHED MY 6 MONTH MARK FOR OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE AND CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR A MONTHLY NOTE AND REPAIRS SIMULTANEOUSLY. MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH A MANUFACTURE DATE OF 11/10, ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, AND WE IMMEDIATELY WERE HAVING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLES ENGINE BEING SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THE SAME MODEL VEHICLE MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 3, 2009 AND JUNE 17, 2010 WERE RECALLED DUE TO THIS SAME ISSUE. APPARENTLY THEY WERE BUILT WITH IGNITIONS THAT COULD ACCIDENTALLY SWITCH FROM THE "RUN" POSITION TO "ACCESSORY," THEREBY CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT OFF. BUT MY SAME EXACT MODEL VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL BECAUSE IT DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE MANUFACTURE DATE FOR THE RECALL. I AM HIGHLY UPSET AT THIS BECAUSE MY WIFE IS THE MAIN OPERATOR OF THIS VEHICLE AND MY SON IS WITH HER IN THE VAN. I WANT SOME ANSWERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND A REASON WHY MY VAN IS NOT IN THE RECALL WHEN IT IS OBVIOUS THAT ALL VANS OF THIS MODEL YEAR ARE AFFECTED, I REFUSE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED WHEN IT IS OBVIOUS THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT PROPERLY DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE ECU AND WIRE IGNITION MODULE WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
2ND NOTICE ABOUT THE "REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH". NEUWIRTH CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HERE IN WILMINGTON SAID THAT THEY WOULD ORDER THE REPLACEMENTS 6-8 MONTHS AGO. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM. CALLED NEUWIRTH TODAY WHEN WE RECEIVED THIS SECOND NOTICE ( 01/08/15 ), AND WAS TOLD BY "[XXX]" THAT THE "PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE." SHE SAID, "I'LL PUT YOU ON OUR LIST AND CALL WHEN WE CAN GET YOU IN." ...DRIVER DOOR FIRE WITHOUT WARNING... SOUNDS SERIOUS TO ME. HOW ABOUT SOME HELP! THE HATCH DOOR WAS SUPPOSED TO RETRACT WHEN THERE WAS AN OBSTRUCTION BUT THE DOOR CONTINUED TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER FACE. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

THE VEHICLE DID RESTART; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V139000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE FOLLOWING LIGHTS CAME ON: ABS, ANTI SKID, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE ENGINE STARTED MISSING THEN THE SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ALARM INSIDE WENT OFF. I HAD NO ELECTRICAL CONTROLS. THE WINDOWS WOULDN'T ROLL DOWN, THE DOOR LOCKS WOULDN'T WORK AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE OUTSIDE ALARM THEN WENT OFF TOO. I HAD TO DISABLE THE ALARM BY UNHOOKING THE BATTERY CABLE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMPUTER AND THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I THEN CALLED CHRYSLER AND CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL OF ANY KIND AND SURE ENOUGH MY VEHICLE HAD THE RECALL# L25. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE BUT THE GENTLEMEN THAT I SPOKE WITH AT CHRYSLER CORP. SAID THAT ACCORDING TO THEIR RECORDS THE WIN MODULE HAD BEEN REPLACED ON MY VAN AND THAT MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED ON 2-7-2012. THAT NEVER HAPPENED!! IT IS CURRENTLY BEING CHECKED OUT BY THE CHRYSLER TECH AT OUR LOCAL DEALER. THEY SAID THEY ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO REPLACE THE RUBBER GASKET INSIDE THE MODULE AND IF THE MODULE ITSELF IS BAD I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE MODULE. THE GENTLEMEN I SPOKE WITH AT CHRYSLER CORPORATION TOLD ME THAT THE MODULE WOULD BE COVERED AT NO CHARGE. THIS IS CRAZY!!! MY TWO YOUNG GRANDSONS WERE IN THE VAN WHEN ALL THIS HAPPENED. NEEDLESS TO SAY THEY WERE TERRIFIED. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED HERE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE!! *TR
I WAS TURNING A SLOW CURVE AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED IT, BUT MY ENGINE TURNED OFF, MY POWER STEERING AND GAS PEDAL FAILED. MY BRAKES DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK AS WELL AND I HAD TO COME TO A SLOWED STOP AND FORCE MY STEERING TO TURN ONTO AN OFF ROAD SO I DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON AND THE CAR STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY AND I HAVE NOT HAD AN ISSUE SINCE. I AM NOT SURE IF I BUMPED THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION OR NOT. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE HAD A FEW FAMILY EMERGENCIES AND HAVE HAD TO RESCHEDULE THE APPT TO GET MY CAR LOOKED AT AND DO NOT KNOW THE ISSUE. I AM CONCERNED THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE RECALLS OF CARS WITH FAULTY KEY/IGNITION ISSUES. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY CERTIFIED BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 WITH ONLY APPROX. 37,000 MILES ON IT. SHOULD I GIVE THIS BACK AS A LEMON AND GET A DIFFERENT VEHICLE? *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE JUMPED WHEN BACKING UP FRO A CURB AND THERE WAS A GROWL IN THE TRANSMISSION. IN MARCH 2014, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN THE MIDST OF DRIVING. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE. *JB

TWICE MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THERE WERE NO DASH WARNINGS OTHER THAN THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL ICON WAS LIT THE FIRST EPISODE. THE RADIO WAS WORKING, ALL OTHER DASH LIGHTING APPEARED NORMAL FOR A CAR IN OPERATION. I HAD BEEN DRIVING ABOUT 20 MINUTES, SO THE CAR WAS NOT "COLD". THE FIRST TIME, I DID NOT EVEN REALIZE THE CAR HAD STALLED UNTIL I NOTICED IT WAS LOSING SPEED AND THEN FOUND THE CAR WAS NOT RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL. I COASTED INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND TURNED ONTO A SIDE STREET (THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED I HAD NO POWER STEERING, NO BRAKES, AND THE CAR WAS TRULY STALLED). I CONTINUED COASTING TO A STOP. I THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT. IT RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY, RUNNING SMOOTHLY, SO I CONTINUED ON MY WAY HOME WONDERING WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED IT TO DIE LIKE THAT? LESS THAN A MILE LATER, IT STALLED AGAIN! THIS TIME I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND WHILE CRUISING/COASTING TURNED THE IGNITION KEY TO START TO TRY AND RE-START THE CAR. I THEN PUT THE TRANSMISSION BACK INTO DRIVE TO SEE IF IT HAD RESTARTED, AND SURE ENOUGH I WAS ON MY WAY AGAIN. NO OTHER INDICATORS OF AN ISSUE ON THE DASH. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. I WENT OUT ON AN ERRAND LATER THAT EVENING AND THE EPISODE DID NOT REPEAT. I AM QUITE NERVOUS TO TAKE IT ON THE INTERSTATE. MY GOSH! WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE (75 MPH SPEED LIMIT) TURNING A CURVE, NO POWER STEERING, SLOWING TO A COAST AND PANICKED AS TO WHAT WAS WRONG? I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A MECHANIC DAY AFTER TOMORROW, BUT UNLESS A CODE WAS THROWN INDICATING AN ERROR, IT SEEMS TO BE A SOMEWHAT ISOLATED EVENT, OR AT LEAST INTERMITTENT EVENT. OUR 2010 TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVAN HAS BEEN STALLING SINCE Q1 OF 2014. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO NORMANDEN IN SAN JOSE, CA NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE LEFT IT WITH THEM ON EACH OCCASION TO DRIVE IT WITH THEIR DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER AND THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIND A CODE TELLING THEM WHAT TO FIX. ON DEC. 27 WE TOOK IT BACK IN TO NORMANDEN AFTER IT STALLED 19 TIMES IN THE PREVIOUS 7 DAYS. WE LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM WHILE WE WERE ON VACATION FOR 12 DAYS, AND ASKED THEM TO HAVE THEIR LEAD MECHANIC DRIVE IT HOME EVERY DAY WITH THE COMPUTER ON IT TO SEE IF THEY COULD GET IT TO FAIL. IT DID FAIL, BUT WE WERE TOLD THAT HE DID NOT HAVE THE COMPUTER ON IT AT THE TIME. WE ALSO WERE TOLD THAT IT DID NOT FAIL FOR HIM SINCE THEN WITH THE COMPUTER ON IT. I JUST TALKED TO OUR SERVICE WRITER [XXX], AND HE SAID AGAIN, WITHOUT A CODE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY CANNOT TRY SWAPPING PARTS LIKE THE MAIN COMPUTER, BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT GET REIMBURSED BY CHRYSLER, IF DOES NOT FAIL WHEN THEY SEND IT BACK. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR EVERY DAY, AS I DO NOT DRIVE. SHE TAKES ME TO WORK AND BABY SITS OUR 2 BEAUTIFUL GRAND CHILDREN WHO LIVE 75 MILES NORTH OF US. EVERY TIME IT STALLS, THE POWER STEERING NO LONGER WORKS AND THE POWER ASSISTED BREAKS DO NOT STOP THE CAR VERY WELL WITHOUT A LOT OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I WAS ON TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE HEADING TO MY WORKPLACE. AT APPROXIMATELY 1:45 PM CT, I MOVED TO THE FAST LANE IN ORDER TO PASS A VEHICLE. WHEN I ACCELERATED, THE CAR SHIFTED INTO A HIGHER GEAR AND THEN I SAW THE RPM GAUGE GO ALMOST TO RED LINE - AS IF I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AND I QUICKLY APPROACHED A DANGEROUS SPEED. TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL DID NOT HELP. THERE WAS NO CAR MAT STUCK UNDER THE PEDAL AND PUMPING THE PEDAL DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHEN BRAKING, THE CAR WAS FIGHTING THE BRAKES. I PLACED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN (CURIOUSLY, THE RPMS ALSO DROPPED!) - WHEN I DROPPED BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT, I PUT THE CAR'S GEAR BACK IN DRIVE. THE CAR ONCE AGAIN ACCELERATED AND THE RPMS ROSE AGAIN AS IF I FLOORED THE PEDAL. I TRIED REPEATING MY SAME STEPS TO NO AVAIL AND THEN I ONCE AGAIN PLACED THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. DUE TO THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF SNOW IN THE AREA, THERE WAS NO SHOULDER FOR ME TO PULL ONTO (OCCUPIED BY SNOW PILES) AND THERE WERE NO NEARBY EXITS (I WAS TRAVELING NORTHBOUND ON I-294 HAVING JUST PASSED THE 95TH STREET EXIT - NEXT EXIT IS SEVERAL MILES AWAY) AND TO COMPOUND THE ISSUE, I HAD TRAFFIC IN FRONT AND BEHIND ME. THIS WAS A FREIGHTING SITUATION AND I DON'T USUALLY GET SCARED EASILY! I TOOK OUT MY CELL PHONE TO GET READY TO CALL 911. WHILE DOING THIS I WAS LOOKING FOR A SAFE TIME AND PLACE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL WHERE I PLANNED TO JUST SHUT THE CAR OFF WHEN I COULD PULL OFF SOMEWHERE SO AS NOT TO KILL ANYONE (OR MYSELF)... THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BE AT ZERO THEN WHEN DRIVEN THE VEHICLE WOULD DING ABOUT EVERY 5 MINUTES AND SPEEDOMETER WOULD GO UP AND DOWN TO ZERO AGAIN. THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. IT WOULD ALWAYS SEEM TO DRIVE IN A HIGHER GEAR. THE ODOMETER WOULD NO LONGER FUNCTION. THE ELECTRIC VAN DOORS WOULD NOT WORK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING. THEY WOULD WORK WHEN VEHICLE WAS OFF. TOOK VAN TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY AND HAD CORROSION ON THE CONNECTIONS WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VAN WAS ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS UNTIL THIS WAS REPLACED WHICH COST $850. *TR

I SPENT ABOUT $800 FIXING NON-RELATED ISSUES THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT SOLVE IT. LAST WEEK, MY CAR DID THE SAME THING - TURNED OFF AND LOCKED ON THE FREEWAY- AND WE TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALERSHIP WHO COULD NOT FIND AN ERROR. WE CALLED CHRYSLER AND WERE TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH OTHER 2010'S HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR AN IGNITION ISSUE, MY VAN WAS NOT ON THE LIST. THIS MORNING I READ THAT OTHER MODELS FROM 2005-2007- OVER 780,000 VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM- TURNING OFF MYSTERIOUSLY WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY TO MY HUSBAND ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. I AM FORCED TO TRADE MY CAR IN AND TAKE A FINANCIAL LOSS. I HOPE THAT THE CAR IS NOT RESOLD BECAUSE I BELIEVE THE IGNITION IS FAULTY BUT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT REMOVE THE PART TO TEST AND CHRYSLER IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO REMEDY THE CAR. I HOPE MORE CARS ARE RECALLED AND THAT THE COMPANY AND DEALERSHIP TAKE THIS ISSUE MORE SERIOUSLY. *TR
I HAVE 2 PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO RESPOND TO WITH APPROPRIATE ANSWERS. THE 1ST ONE IS THE FRONT BRAKES. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. 4-2010 THE ROTORS ALWAYS CREATE HOT SPOTS THEN CAUSES THE BRAKES TO FAIL.. THERE IS NEVER ANY WEAR ON THE BRAKE PADS JUST THE ROTORS. THERE WAS A LETTER SENT OUT A COUPLE YEARS AGO THAT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE BRAKES WITH EITHER A $50.00 TO $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE. NOW , THEY WILL NOT HONOR THAT LETTER. OBVIOUSLY, THERE WAS A PROBLEM THEN FOR THE LETTER TO BE SENT OUT, WHY CHANGE IT NOW. I STILL HAVE THE SAME VAN AND THE SAME PROBLEM, ONLY TO GET WORSE. THE SECOND IS THE AIRBAGS. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH EXCESSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE AS WELL AS TOTALED THE CAR THAT WAS HIT BY ME. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED, FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT INJURED. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO SPEAK TO ME ABOUT THESE THIS ISSUE. THAT KEEP TELLING ME THAT BECAUSE MY AUTO INSURANCE WAS INVOLVED THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO A SUBROGATION REPORT. THIS IS UNTRUE AS PER MY INSURANCE COMPANY. THIS REPORT ONLY NEEDS TO BE FILLED OUT IF THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER'S WERE INJURED FROM THE ACCIDENT. WELL SINCE THERE WAS NO INJURIES, THEN THERE IS NO NEED FOR A REPORT. THIS INCIDENT IS A CONSUMERS COMPLAINT. CHRYSLER DOESN'T SEE IT THAT WAY. THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND EVERY EXCUSE IN THE BOOK TO NOT COOPERATE WITH MY COMPLAINTS. WHAT IS CHRYSLER WAITING FOR? SOMEONE TO DIE IF MY VAN IS TO BECOME INTO ANOTHER ACCIDENT? WELL, I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT FOR THAT TO HAPPEN. THEY NEED TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS AGAIN. *TT

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
