I HAVE 60K MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND THE BLIND SPOT DETECTORS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. MY MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD'VE BEEN ON RECALL A LONG TIME AGO! DAMAGE WAS CAUSED DUE TO SALT, WATER, DIRT AND ROAD GRIME. NOW BECAUSE OF NORMAL CONDITIONS ON MY STATE I AM BEING QUOTED AT NEAR 2K TO FIX AN ISSUE ON A AN I HAVE PERSONALLY PUT 20K MILES ON. SO DISAPPOINTED I WILL LIKELY NEVER BUY CHRYSLER VANS AGAIN!
TIPM, I HAVE HAD TONS OF PROBLEMS WITH MY VAN SINCE I PURCHASED. THERE IS NO TELLING HOW MUCH I HAVE SPENT OF THE YEARS ON REPAIRS. COME TO FIND OUT MOST OF MY REPAIRS WERE NOT NECESSARY. THEY ALL CAME FROM THE FAULTY TIPM. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. THE ISSUE IT CAUSES IS UNBELIEVABLE. THE STRESS AND INCONVENIENCE THIS HAS CAUSED ME AND MY FAMILY IS MORE THAN I COULD EVER IMAGINE. I'M OUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON REPAIR BILLS AND NOW I FIND OUT THAT IT WILL BE ANOTHER $1,300 TO FIX THIS. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES FOR YEARS!!! WHEN I WOULD TAKE IT IN THEY WOULD TREAT THE SYMPTOMS NOT THE PROBLEM WHICH I'M JUST FINDING OUT IS THE TIPM. IF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN PROPERLY DIAGNOSED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY THAN NO BIG DEAL, BUT OF COURSE IT WAS NOT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN BY BRAKES DON'T WORK, I TURN ON THE VAN START TO DRIVE AND IT WON'T SHIFT I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE VAN THEN RESTART IT. SOMETIMES IT WONT START JUST SITS THERE LIKE IT WANTS TO START. THE FUEL PUMP IS NOW CONSTANTLY RUNNING. I'M SURE THAT'S NOT SAFE AT ALL. THE ENGINE HOURS ARE TWICE WHAT THE MILEAGE SAYS IT SHOULD BE. HUM GUESS THAT'S CAUSE MY ENGINE IS RUNNING ALL THE TIME. THAT WOULD BE BECAUSE THE TIPM IS FLAWED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND PRODUCED A REVERSE VOLTAGE, WHICH CAUSED THE ECU TO BE DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM FAILED BECAUSE SENSOR MODULE GOT WET ON THE INSIDE. SENSOR MODULE NOT SEALED ON CORRECTLY. CONNECTOR ALSO CORRODED BECAUSE OF SALT BEING USED ON STREETS HERE IN OHIO DURING WINTER MONTHS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS SYSTEM HAS FAILED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. TALKED TO SERVICE MANAGERS AT 2 DIFFERENT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS AND WERE TOLD BY BOTH THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PART AND THEIR OPINION IT IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS PART DUE TO ITS EXPOSURE TO THE ELEMENTS.
WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS TIME WHEN THE VAN WILL NOT START. THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT IS TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT NOTHING HAPPENS AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS THE VAN STARTS. WHEN IT HAS BEEN TAKEN IN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THEY ARE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM DUE TO THE CODE BEING RESOLVED. MORE IMPORTANTLY THE VAN STALLED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. LIGHTS, RADIO, FANS ALL WORKED BUT THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE AND PUT A NEW BATTERY IN. AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE IS STALLED AGAIN GOING 30 MPH IN TOWN. AGAIN VAN WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN WAS TOLD THE CODES WERE RESOLVED SO THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. THEY STATE THAT THEY SEE THERE ARE A LOT OF ELECTRICAL CODES BUT THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO READ THEM BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. VEHICLE HAS 144000 MILES ON IT AND HAS REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE.
WHILE DRIVING, MY VAN HAD AN ELECTRICAL MELTDOWN STARTING WITH MY SEAT WARMERS NOT STAYING ON. IT CONTINUED WITH GAUGES MALFUNCTIONING, HEADLIGHTS AND STEREO SHUT DOWN. FOLLOWED BY A COMPLETE SHUTDOWN OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT BUT ALSO FRIED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RESULTING IN NEEDING THE TIPM AND ECM REPLACED. I SUSPECTED THE TIPM AS A PROBLEM SEVERAL MONTHS EARLIER WHEN THE VAN WOULD NOT START REGULARLY BUT IF YOU CONTINUED TO PUSH THE START BUTTON IT WOULD EVENTUALLY START. IT ALSO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ONCE WHILE DRIVING BUT THEN CAME BACK UP AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS. MY MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS THE STARTER. CHRYSLER HAS RECALLED THE TIPM FOR MY MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR BUT SOMEHOW HAS SKIPPED MY VIN. A LAWSUIT WAS ALSO SETTLED IN 2015 WITH REGARDS TO THE TIPM AND THE VEHICLES NOT STARTING. I BELIEVE CHRYSLER SHOULD EXPAND THEIR VIN NUMBERS TO INCLUDE ALL VEHICLES LISTED IN THE YEARS INCLUDED IN THE LAWSUIT. IN ADDITION, CHRYSLER SHOULD BE FINANCIALLY LIABLE FOR ALL REPAIRS NECESSITATED BY THE MANUFACTURING/DESIGN DEFECT THAT CAUSES THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES.
I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE (15 MINUTES) I FOUND THE TIRE WAS VERY HOT. THE CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN INSPECTED 3 WEEKS PRIOR, HAD BRAKE PADS REPLACED, AND INSPECTION DETECTED NO ISSUES. HAD CAR TAKEN TO MECHANIC AND FOUND A BRAKE HOSE FAILED RESULTING IN CALIPER NOT RELEASING. BRAKE HOSE AND BRAKE PAD NEEDED REPLACED. THIS IS UNUSUAL FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 67000 MILES.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, OCCASIONALLY DOES NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR WHEN EXCELLERATING FROM STOP LIGHT OR SIGN. BACK DRIVER SIDE DOOR SOUNDS LIKE ELECTRIC SNAPPING LOUDLY FROM IT WHEN IN GEAR AND EXCELLERATING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES.
SUMMARY: I BELIEVE THAT THE TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY IS CAUSING THE ISSUES. IT HAS LEFT THE FUEL PUMP ON WHEN THE ENGINE AND POWER WAS OFF WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS MANY TIME CRANKED WITHOUT STARTING, WHILE STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE COLD AND ALSO WHILE HOT. THIS MORNING IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL IT SHUTOFF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY FOLLOWED BY CRANKING IT WAS RESTARTED. IT FAILED TO START AFTER COMING OUT OF THE SCHOOL. I HAVE SEEN THAT CRYSLER RECALLED THIS PART ON DURANGOS WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND MODEL YEAR.
THE FUEL PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE TIPM (FUSE BOX CIRCUIT BOARD FUEL PUMP RELAY) THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START SOMETIMES AND DIED A FEW TIMES OUT DRIVING IT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. I BOUGHT A NEW RELAY AND HAD IT SOLDER IN TO MY TIPM AND IT WORKS GREAT NOW THEN A ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT SAY'S IT'S NOT COMMUNICATION WITH MY PCM THEN IT'S WORKING AGAIN. VEHICLE RUNS GREAT NOW AND STARTING. I HEAR CHRYSLER 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS ARE HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME ISSUES BUT NO RECALLS ON THE TIPM BOX MODULES.
MY TOWN AND COUNTRY HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING MANY MANY TIMES. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE VERY FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON DEC 2, 2017. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS, MOST RECENTLY THE DEALERSHIP. ONE OF MY MECHANICS INITIALLY TOLD ME THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE TIPM AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS A KNOWN ISSUE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT HAVE NOT RECALLED IT OR FIXED THE ISSUE. MY CAR ALSO AT TIMES DOES NOT CRANK PROPERLY. I INSERT THE KEY AND TURN IT TO THE RIGHT AND HOLD IT AS IF I AM STARTING THE CAR. SILENCE AND NOTHING HAPPENS FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS AND THEN IT FINALLY CRANKS UP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I HAVE ONLY ONE VEHICLE AND 2 KIDS THAT I DRIVE TO AND FROM SCHOOL EVERY DAY. I AM ALWAYS IN PANIC MODE WHEN DRIVING THE CAR. I AM ALWAYS SCARED BECAUSE I KNOW IT CAN SHUT OFF AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
I BELIEVE THAT THE TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY IS CAUSING THE ISSUES. IT HAS LEFT THE FUEL PUMP ON WHEN THE ENGINE AND POWER WAS OFF WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAS MANY TIME CRANKED WITHOUT STARTING, WHILE STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE COLD AND ALSO WHILE HOT. LAST NIGHT IT SHUTOFF THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY FOLLOWED BY CRANKING WITHOUT STARTING.
VEHICLE STALLS OUT COMING TO A STOP. IT IS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY. I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK TO START IT BACK UP. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL BE REAR ENDED. I UNDERSTAND THE DURANGO HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. SPECIFICALLY THE TIPM IS FAULTY. WHY HAVE THEY NOT RECALLED ALL MODELS?
THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED. THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS MUCH SMALLER THAN THE INDUSTRY AVERAGE, AND THE CONTACTS OVERHEATED. THE RELAY RANDOMLY FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT, AND THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY BY THE TIME IT MADE IT TO A SERVICE FACILITY FOR TESTING/REPAIR. THE RELAY ON THIS PARTICULAR DESIGN IS INTEGRATED INTO THE FUSE BOX, WHICH CHRYSLER CALLS A TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE, OR TIPM. THE DESIGN MAKES IT PRONE TO FAILURE BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF THE RELAY (TOO SMALL FOR THIS APPLICATION) AS EVIDENCED BY THE RECALL FOR JEEPS THAT USE THE SAME WIRING.
VAN WOULD NOT START, ONLY CRANK AND CRANK. TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. NEXT DAY VAN HAD STARTING PROBLEMS AGAIN. VAN WAS TAKEN BACK TO REPAIR SHOP. MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO SOLVE PROBLEM SO VAN WAS TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WAS ALSO UNABLE TO SOLVE PROBLEM AND VAN WAS RETURNED BACK TO ME. AGAIN THE VAN WOULD NOT START, I TRIED THE TIPM BYPASS IDEA FOUND ONLINE. THE VAN HAS RAN OK SINCE, ONLY HAVING TROUBLES WHEN VERY COLD. THE VAN ONLY HAS 87000 MILES AND A VERY WELL MAINTAINED HISTORY. I AM SCARED THIS VAN WILL FAIL AND SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE. THE COST FOR A NEW TIPM IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL EVEN FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALREADY SPENT $900 ON A NEW FUEL PUMP AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. PLEASE HELP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN AND GRADUALLY ACCELERATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER (CORNERSTONE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE, ELK RIVER, MN, 763-441-2300) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS FAULTY AND WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.
THE CAR IS HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUING TO RUN. IN THE LAST 30 DAYS IT IS NOT WANTING TO START IN THE MORNING. I HAVE READ ON THIS ISSUE AND CHRYSLER HAS HAD SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TIPM BEING BAD CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO CONTINUE TO RUN OR THE VAN NOT TO START ON COLD MORNINGS. THIS HAS ALSO CAUSE THE VAN TO STOP RUNNING WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD.
ONE OF MY HEADLAMP LENS HAS A DEFECTIVE SEAL, RESULTING IN IT BEING COMPLETELY FOGGED OVER AND COVERED IN CONDENSATION. CHRYSLER WILL NOT REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT AFFECTS THE HEADLAMP VISION AT NIGHT.
THIS CAR HAS DIFFICULTY STARTING. THE BATTERY WAS CHECKED, REPLACED AND IT STILL HAPPENS. ALSO, THE CAR WILL STALL WHEN GOING BETWEEN 20-30 MILES PER HOUR. IT IS A VERY SCARY SITUATION.
CAR WILL NOT START FROM "PARK" OCCASIONALLY. LIGHTS WILL WORK, GAUGES WILL WORK, STARTER WILL NOT CRANK TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE IS AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURES, AFTER DRIVING TO THE STORE AND TURNING IT OFF. THEN TRYING TO START CAR WHEN LEAVING STORE. AFTER TWO TO SEVEN TRIES, STARTER WILL WORK AND ENGINE STARTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAIRDON'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MARYSVILLE (16610 SMOKEY POINT BLVD, ARLINGTON, WA 98223, (360) 653-5664) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
HORN DOES NOT WORK AT STEERING WHEEL BUT WILL RANDOMLY BLOW WHEN A DOOR IS OPENED. THIS IS AN ONGOING OCCURRENCE SINCE "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN" AS THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FOUND.
THE VEHICLE WILL CRANK BUT NOT START. SEEMS LIKE IT'S OUT OF GAS, BUT IT'S NOT. BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY IS WHAT IT TESTS OUT TO BE, BUT CHRYSLER WANT TO REPLACE A $1000.00 FUSE BOX. COMMOM PROBLEM FOR THIS. SHOULD BE A COMPLETE RECALL FOR THIS PART. MY HAS NOT STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY -- YET...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BUTTON CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE, 1220 E BOULEVARD, KOKOMO, IN 46902) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT QUALIFIED TO BE ADVANCED TO A CASE MANAGER. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN THREE TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
CAR WILL NOT START INTERMITTENTLY LEAVING ME STRANDED MULTIPLE TIMES HAVING TO TOW. BAD TIPM IS WHAT I AM TOLD BY OTHERS WITH SIMILAR STORIES; DEALER SAYS THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING DEFINITE PROBLEM STARTED AT APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES BUT WOULD START AFTER 2-3RD TRY; OCCURRING MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY TAKING 8 HOURS TO START AGAIN. LAST TIME THEY SAID MY BRAND NEW BATTERY WAS "FAULTY". REPLACED AND NOW OCCURING AGAIN.
EVER SINCE WE GOT THE CAR, IT HAS HAD PROBLEMS. WE KNEW THAT IT WAS A USED CAR BUT DIDN'T EXPECT ALL THE PROBLEMS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON ALL THE TIME AND THE RADIO STOPS WORKING. CURRENTLY WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL PUMP. WE WERE TOLD THAT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2012 & 2013 GRAND CHEROKEE RELAY PUMP. ALSO THE RADIO SEEMS TO BE FAILING AGAIN. WE WERE WONDERING IF YOU COULD CHECK THAT AND MORE SINCE THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS AS US.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF, THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUES TO RUN AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY TIPM - TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE.
MY WIFE, 4 CHILDREN AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM CHURCH WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT APPX. 9:45 P.M WHEN THIS VEHICLE SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. THE ENGINE QUITS, THE STEERING WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE, THE BREAKS WERE BARELY WORKING AT ALL, AND EVERY SINGLE LIGHT WENT DARK FROM THE DASH TO THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS ON A ROAD THAT WAS WINDING AND PITCH BLACK. WE WERE DRIVING AS USUAL AROUND 55-60 MPH GOING DOWN THIS ROAD. CHRYSLER TREATS IT AS THOUGH IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AND NO MORE THAN A FAULTY "AIRE" CONTROL. WHEN IT THREATENS THE LIVES OF MY WIFE AND CHILDREN, THIS IS FAR MORE THAN A TECHNICAL ISSUE OR A WORN OUT PART. WE COULD HAVE ALL BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE SEVERAL TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVANS OF DIFFERENT YEARS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS
BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE BLIND SPOT WARNING LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN TURNED ON. THEY WILL NOT WORK NO MATTER IF I'M PARKED OR DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $3,156.00 PLUS TAX FOR TWO BAD SENSORS AND CORRODED HARNESS. I'M SEEING THIS COMPLAINT ON THE INTERNET AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A RECALL. MY VAN IS JUST ABOUT TO TURN 70,000 MILES SO I DO NOT SEE HOW THE PROBLEM COULD COME FROM ME.
WITH NO WARNING, CAR STOPS IN TRAFFIC. NO WARNING LIGHTS. WON'T START, WON'T RECOGNIZE KEY. WINDOWS WON'T GO DOWN OR UP. ALARM GOES OFF FOR NO REASON. BELIEVE IT TO BE THE TIPM. DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR. DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME, BUT NEARLY 75% OF TIME. HAS STRANDED ME IN PARKING LOTS, AT SCHOOL , ON FREEWAY RAMPS AND AT INTERSECTIONS. I CONSIDER THIS VERY UNSAFE. IT BEGAN ON FRIDAY SEPT. 8, 2017 AND CONTINUES TO THIS DAY.
THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND BURNED UP AND COOKED THE BATTERY. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CHRYSLER 300 AND OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND ALTERNATOR. I FEEL MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED TOO. THE COST WAS $1,000!
THE TRANSMISSION HAS KNOW ISSUES OF SLIPPAGE. THIS SLIPPAGE CAUSED ME TO ROLL BACKWARDS AT AN MAJOR INTERSECTION AND ALMOST CAUSE A ACCIDENT. THIS CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY HAS HAD HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS BUT THIS TYPE OF MALFUNCTION DUE TO THE SLIPPAGE ON THE TRANSMISSION COULD RESULT IN FATALITIES. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED THIS HAS WENT ON THE ENTIRE TIME WE HAVE OWNED THE CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY NOW IT JUST GETS WORSE AND WORSE BY THE DAY.
TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) FAILURE. SYMPTOMS INCLUDE FUEL PUMP NOT RUNNING, OR RUNNING IRREGULARLY. VEHICLE WILL NOT START, VEHICLE STALLS SOON AFTER STARTING. THIS PART IS COMMON TO SEVERAL MODELS AND CAUSES PROBLEMS ACROSS MODEL LINES. IT HAS SINCE BEEN REDESIGNED, AND THE DEALERSHIP IS INSTALLING THE "NEW" MODULE IN OUR VEHICLE AT MY EXPENSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER (KRUSE CHRYSLER IN GIRARD, IL) STATED THAT THE TIPM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP14004 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION TO THE CONTACT OTHER THAN REPLACING THE PART. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION FAILED TO START THE VEHICLE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (HENDRICKS HOVER AUTOMALL, 1626 MONTGOMERY HWY, HOOVER AL 35216) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE KEYS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE KEYS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
THE VAN HAS STOPPED COLD IN TRAFFIC. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN IT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. NOW THERE ARE SIGNS OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN WHICH WILL MAKE THE THIRD TIME IN AS MANY YEARS. THIS SHOULD BE FIX BY THE MANUFACTURER BEING IT IS ONGOING.
WHEN I GO TO START ENGINE AS SOON AS I PUT KEY IN IT STARTS TRYING TO START THE I TURN IT OFF AND TRY AGAIN AND DOES THE SAME THING. EVENTUALLY IT STARTS.IT S IN MY DRIVEWAY OR AT A PARKING LOT.I M AFRAID IF IT S KEEP DOING THIS , IT WILL DAMAGE SOMETHING ELSE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000.
CAR WON'T START. WHEN TURNING THE KEY THE RADIO COMES ON AND THE CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO START BUT DOESN'T. THE KEY 'STICKS' AND CONTINUES TRYING TO TURN OVER EVEN IF I DO NOT HAVE MY HAND ON THE KEY. ALREADY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, BUT PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. AFTER RESEARCH MECHANIC TELLS ME IT IS THE TIPM AND THAT IT IS FAULTY. I HAVE NO VEHICLE NOW AND CANNOT AFFORD A RENTAL. MY HUSBAND ALSO TOLD ME IT STALLED ON HIM WHILE DRIVING OVER A BRIDGE THE DAY BEFORE THE VAN WOULDN'T START UP.

AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED AND DECREASED AND THE ENGINE WOULD CONTINUE TO SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT OTHER ELECTRICAL FAILURES PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED, SUCH AS THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULD BUZZ AND THE WINDOWS MALFUNCTIONED. THE LOCAL DEALER (GOLLING CHRYSLER, 2405 S. TELEGRAPH RD., WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI) WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
IGNITION SWITCH IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT HOLD THE KEY. SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER YEARS.
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
FROM WHAT I'VE RESEARCHED MY PROBLEM IS WITH THE TIPM. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STARTING THE VEHICLE. PUSH TO START NOR KEY WOULD START THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULD START. DEALER FOUND NO CODES TO DIAGNOSE AND CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE IT. DEALER FLASHED SOMETHING BUT DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. A MONTH AGO, THE CAR STOPPED ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER. HAD IT TOWED. DIAGNOSED AS FUEL PUMP GETTING NO POWER. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. STILL HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH STARTING. NOW, WITH NO WARNING THE VEHICLE JUSTS SHUTS DOWN COMPLETELY AS IF NO POWER. RADIO, EVERYTHING GOES DEAD FOR A FEWS SECONDS. THEN RADIO, LIGHTS COME ON WITH NO INTERVENTION. CAR CRANKED UP BOTH TIMES. HAS DONE THIS TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. SOMEONE WILL GET HURT OR GOD FORBID, KILLED IF CHRYSLER DOES NOT STOP LYING AND TAKE CARE OF THIS DEFECT. CONSUMER'S SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO PAY TO REPLACE THIS PART.
INTERMITTENT ISUES WITH NOT STARTING WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED OR THE REMOTE START IS PRESSED ON THE KEY FOB. THERE IS A CLICK THAT CAM BE HERD BUT ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER,AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT WILL EVENTUALLY START. NOT SURE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT MORE OF AN INNOCENCE AND INCONVENIENCE. WITH ALL I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS ISSUE IT WOULD SEEM THAT CHRYSLER CORP. WOULD HAVE A FIX FOR IT BY NOW. THE VAN WAS USUALLY PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, SOMETIMES OVER NIGHT OTHER TIMES AFTER DRIVING IT TO THE STORE AND BACK, THEN TRYING TO GO SOMEPLACE ELSE LIKE A DR.APT. SOMETIMES IT SAT ONLY A FEW MINUETS OTHER TIMES AFTER AN HOUR OR SO. IT HAS A NEW BATTERY AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO CORROSION ON EITHER POST.
I WAS DRIVING AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF THEN I STOPPED AND TTY TO RESTARTED AND FAIL. IT HAS THE FUEL TANK ALMOST FULL, THE STARTER WAS CLINKING BUT IT WAS NOT RUNNING.

GAUGE CLUSTER BEGINS TO FLICKER AND GUAGUAS BEGIN TO SPAZZ OUT. VEHICLE THEN SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. NO ISSUES WITH BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR.
VAN HAS TO BE PUT OUT OF GEAR TO START, WALKED OUTSIDE A FEW TIMES AND AUTO DOORS OPEN RANDOM LIGHTS ARE POPPING UP ON THE CONSOLE FOR NO REASON THEN GOING AWAY. STARTED ROUGHLY 2.5 MONTHS AGO.
MY FUEL PUMP STAYS ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF DUE TO A MALFUNCTION OF THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. WE HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT A YEAR-AND-A-HALF AGO (SPRING 2017)
