VAN WILL BE DRIVING WHEN IT STALLS UP, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GOES CRAZY LIGHTING UP AND NEEDLES BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THEY COULDNT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES.
TRAILING ARM ON RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VAN SNAPPED, WHIE 'I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET CLOSE TO MY HOME. THE REAR OF THE VAN STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AND STOP. I THEN PROCEEDED CAUTIOUSLY TO RETURN TO MY HOME. MY HUSBAND REMOVED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WHERE WE SAW THE TRAILING ARM SNAPPED IN HALF.
VAN WOULD NOT START FROM IT'S PARKING PLACE AT A CAR WASH. MESSAGE CAME UP "ACCESSORY OR IGNITION ON". I HAD IT TOWED TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP. DIAGNOSED AS FAILURE OF THE TIPM (TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE). THIS SHUT DOWN ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLE INCLUDING FUEL PUMP, COMPUTER, STEERING, ENGINE, AND WHATEVER ELSE. GOOD THING IT WAS PARKED WHEN IT FAILED, FOR HAD I BEEN DRIVING I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD ANY CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC.
THIS VEHICLE IS A DANGER TO FAMILIES DRIVING. THE VAN JUST LOOSES POWER WHILE ON FREEWAY DUE TO ITS ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS. TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILURE IS SO DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE. MY VAN DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IF MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE VAN AT THE TIME I WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN MORE PANICKED! I WAS DRIVING HOME AFTER HAVING MY BATTERY CHECK PER LIGHT HAD CAME ON, BATTERY TESTED GOOD, AND LIGHT WENT BACK OFF. WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY BACK HOME THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THEN OTHER LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON AND THE VEH BECAME VERY UNSTABLE. I TOOK THE FIRST EXIT AND THE VEH DIED. I HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP THAT TESTED THE ALTERNATOR THEN PCM AND SAID IT IS STILL NOT HOLDING A CHARGE. THE VAN IS ON IT'S WAY TO THE DEALER. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE QUALITY OR SAFETY FOR ANY MINIVAN INTENDED TO CARRY CHILDREN. PARENTS PURCHASE THESE VEHICLES FOR SIZE AND SAFETY!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND RESUMED DRIVING. IN ADDITION, ALL THE DOOR LOCKS UNLOCKED INDEPENDENTLY, THE RADIO FUNCTIONED INDEPENDENTLY, AND THE TIRE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ABS WARNING INDICATORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE VEHICLE HAVING THAT TYPE OF FAILURE. NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WITH THE FOB, IT FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED MANUALLY BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
CAR POWERED OFF WHILE DRIVING 3 DIFFRENT TIMES TODAY. VAN LOST ALL POWER. STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER.
MY VEHICLE KEEPS TURNING OVER WHEN I GO TO TURN IT ON. IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT THAT I'M GETTING STUCK AT WORK AND OTHER PEOPLE'S HOUSES BECAUSE I CAN'T START MY VEHICLE. THIS IS TAKING PLACE 9 OUT OF 10 TIMES I'M TRYING TO GET START MY CAR. IT'S BEEN GETTING WORSE OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST TWO WEEKS.
IN MOTION ON A CITY FREEWAY AROUND 7:00 PM -- THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING COMPLETELY "SHUT DOWN" WHILE DRIVING IT ON A LOCAL FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER, LIGHTS, ETC. I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO ROAD SHOULDER TO PULL OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO USE THE HAZARD FLASHER TO WARN ONCOMING DRIVERS. THE VEHICLE HAD NO LIGHTS. THE BACK HATCH/TAIL GATE WOULD NOT OPEN TO USE AS A VISUAL SIGNAL TO OTHER DRIVERS. IT WAS A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THANKFULLY A LARGE WRECKER PULLED UP BEHIND THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT US FROM BEING HIT AS WE COULD NOT BE READILY SEEN. I USED MY CELL PHONE FLASHLIGHT TO SIGNAL ONCOMING TRAFFIC OF OUR LOCATION.
I USED THE BUTTON ON MY KEY FOB TO OPEN THE POWER LIFT GATE. ONCE THE DOOR WAS OPEN ENOUGH I STARTED TO PLACE TWO ITEMS N THE REAR OF THE MINIVAN. RATHER THAN STOPPING AT THE TOP WHEN OPEN, THE DOOR STUTTERED A MOMENT AT THE FULLY OPEN POSITION AND THEN SLAMMED FORCIBLY SHUT ON MY HEAD. THE BLOW NEARLY KNOCKED ME OUT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO MANUALLY OPEN THE DOOR. EACH ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE KEY FOB HAD THE SAME TYPE OF RESULT. THE DOOR WOULD REACH THE TOP, STUTTER AND THEN FORCIBLY SLAM SHUT. I AM GLAD IT WAS ME AND NOT MY WIFE OR DAUGHTER. I DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION, BUT DID EXPERIENCE DIZZINESS FOR SEVERAL HOURS AFTERWARDS.
ENGINE CRANKS OVER BUT WILL NOT START. MORE THAN LIKELY THE FUEL PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE TIPM OR FUSE BOX
OUR TOWN AND COUNTRYS BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM HAS STOPPED WORKING AND HAS TAKEN THE BACK UP CAMERA SYSTEM DOWN WITH IT. AT ABOUT 36120 MILES THE SIDE MIRROR INDICATORS CAME ON AND STAYED ON. A FEW MILES AFTER THAT THE BSD SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING ENTIRELY. IT HAS ALSO BLOWN THE FUSE ON THE REAR CAMERA. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS IT APPEARS TO BE A LARGE PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTS OVER $2000 TO FIX A SAFETY SYSTEM THAT IS POORLY DESIGNED AND CORRODES.
LANE CHANGE ASSIST WENT OUT WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER 40,000 MILES PARKING ASSIST WENT OUT WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER 50,000 MILES.
WELL JUST GOT TO THE POINT WHERE MY VAN TURNS OVER AND OVER BUT TAKES ABOUT 15MINS AND 20 TURNS TO GET IT TO START. HOW MUCH WORSE DOES IT NEED TO GET BEFORE CHRYSLER FIXES THEIR MISTAKE?!? THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT MY KIDS AND MYSELF EVERYWHERE WE NEED TO BE.
GIVES HARD START. DRAINS BATTERY. CAR SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION. SERVICE CENTER SAID IT IS THE TIPM MODULE LOSING THE GROUND.
BOUGHT 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY NEW IN SEPT 2011. 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, CAR WAS SHUDDERING BADLY WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. TOOK IT IN, WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE, AND WOULD NOT REPAIR. TRIED A SECOND TIME, SAME RESULT. TOOK TO A SMALL REPAIR SHOP WHO EASILY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM, PRODUCED A QUOTE FOR WORK AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER SO THEY WOULD REPAIR. TOOK IT AND DEALER FOUND THAT ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED REPLACED. SAME PROBLEM 6 MONTHS AFTER THAT, SAME REPAIR. THE NEXT YEAR SAW THE BRAKES FAIL AFTER A LOUD SOUND FROM REAR OF CAR AND THE FLUID DUMPING FROM THE LINE. NO VISIBLE OBJECT WAS HIT. SAME THING HAPPENED LAST WEEK. CURRENTLY THE VAN IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE 7TH TIME IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS FOR BRAKES. ADDITIONALLY, HAD TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE AMOUNT OF REPAIRS REQUIRED FOR A VEHICLE THIS NEW AND EXPENSIVE IS INSANE. I HAVE PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR MOST OF THESE ISSUES AND EVEN HAD TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSITIC FEES WERE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED, ONLY TO REQUIRE A REPAIR SHORTLY THEREAFTER I ALSO HAD TO PAY FOR. ASKED DEALER TODAY FOR A FULL DETAILED LOG OF ALL REPAIRS DONE, COULD NOT PRODUCE A FULL REPAIR REPORT, ONLY THE LAST 4 YEARS WORTH. WITH FIVE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP CAR HAS 60,000 MILES. WILL NEVER EVER BUY AGAIN.
THE FUEL PUMP WOULD KEEP ON RUNNING AFTER KEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF IGNITION AND EVENTUALLY CAR WOULD NOT START OR WOULD DIE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING.
CAR IS GETTING HARDER TO START HAVE TO KEEP TURNING THE KEY MULTIPLE TIMES TO START CAR,ONE DAY THE BATTERY NEEDED A JUMP TO START DON,T KNOW WHAT DRAINED NEW BATTERY,CAR WAS ALWAYS PARKED WHEN THE START PROBLEM OCCURRED MOSTLY OVER NIGHT THEN VERY HARD TO START IN THE MORNING.
A FEW MONTHS BACK, MY BATTERY DIED (IT WAS FAIRLY NEW). AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY WITH A NEW ONE, I NOTICED THERE WAS A CONSTANT SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF - TURNED OUT TO BE THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUALLY PUMPING. AFTER DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING THE BATTERY A FEW TIMES, THE CONSTANTLY RUNNING FUEL PUMP ISSUE WENT AWAY. FAST FORWARD A FEW MONTHS AND MY CAR STARTS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING. IT RANDOMLY WON'T TURN OVER - SOMETIMES TAKING 10-20 TRIES BEFORE IT STARTS. EVENTUALLY IT WON'T TURN OVER AT ALL. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE AND FINDING A [XXX] OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, I DISCOVERED THE TIPM "FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY" ISSUE WITH THE CHRYSLER VEHICLES - INCLUDING MINE. I RIGGED A CABLE TO TEMPORARILY BYPASS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, AND NOW IT STARTS EVERY TIME JUST FINE. FOR THE LONG TERM SOLUTION I WILL NOW NEED TO PAY TO HAVE THE TIPM MODULE REPLACED. THIS IS THE LAST CHRYSLER BRAND CAR I WILL BUY - IT'S ONE THING TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR VEHICLE YOU BUILD (ALL CAR COMPANIES HAVE ISSUES), IT'S ANOTHER THING TO KNOW THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE AND GIVE A BIG [XXX] YOU TO YOUR CONSUMERS BY REFUSING TO ADDRESS THE KNOWN ISSUE. THIS COMPLAINT IS TO ADDRESS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATED WITHIN THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). OUR 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY HAS HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH NOT STARTING BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP ISN'T GETTING POWER. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF DURING OPERATION. NOW THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL PULSATION IN THE STEERING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTING FROM THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKING SYSTEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WERE SERVICED FIVE TO SIX TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
OUR 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY IS IN THE SHOP FOR WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A FUEL PUMP ISSUE. AFTER SPENDING THE MONEY FOR A NEW FUEL PUMP THE VAN STOPPED WORKING BEFORE WE COULD EVEN PICK IT UP. COME TO FIND OUT THE PROBLEM IS ONE THAT CHRYSLER HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR SOMETIME, TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM FOR SHORT). THE REPAIR SHOP IS SAYING THAT THIS FIX WILL COST $1200. WE HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THE VAN HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUE FOR 2 YEARS, WHEN IT ONLY HAS 40K MILES. AT FIRST IT WAS INTERMITTENT AND THE REPAIR SHOP COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. MOST OF THE TIME THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T START. A COUPLE OF TIMES IT WOULD START TO START AND WE WOULD PUT IT INTO REVERSE AND IT WOULD STOP. I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE. WHEN TALKING TO THE LADY (MAN, I WISH I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HER NAME) SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE AND "YOU CAN'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING ON GOOGLE". REALLY!!! I'M NOT STUPID!! THEY HAVE BEEN SUED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND SETTLED. ALL OF THE REPAIR PEOPLE I HAVE TALKED TOO WERE SURPRISED THAT THEY WOULD SAY THAT SINCE THEY ALL KNOW ABOUT IT.
TIPM FAIL I HAVE A 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY. I JUST REPLACED THE TIPM MODULE IT HAD A HAD FUEL PUMP RELAY. I FIRST CAME TO NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ONCE OR TWICE. I CHECKED THE BATTERY. CAR WAS FINE AT THAT POINT/ THOUGHT IT WAS BATTERY CABLE RELATED... LATER THAT MORNING THE POWER CUT OUT AS I WAS TRAVELING OVER 50 MPH ON BUSY STATE ROAD. ALMOST GOT HIT BY SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. ALSO SHORTLY BEFORE ANY OF THAT WE HAD LIGHTS THAT WOULD COME ON AND OFF, LOCKS BEHAVING STRANGELY...OFF AND ON AT 40 MPH. THAT IS SERIOUSLY MESSED UP TO HAVE A MODULE FAIL IN THIS FASHION. THANK JESUS I WAS USING IT AT THE TIME RATHER THAN MY WIFE AND FOUR KIDS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD 2 TIMES THIS WEEK - MY VANS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COMPLETELY TURNED OFF FOR ABOUT 2-5 SECONDS AND TURNED BACK ON. THIS INCLUDES: TVS, DRIVER DASH, RADIO DASH ALL INTERIOR LIGHTENING -BOTH TIMES HAPPENED DURING THE DAY I AM NOT SURE ABOUT OUTSIDE LIGHTS (I ASSUME). THE FIRST TIME THE VAN STALLED COMPLETELY LOSING POWER STEERING AND HAD TO RESTART ENGINE. THE 2ND TIME I COULD STILL GAS THE VAN WITH POWER STEERING BEFORE ALL ELECTRICAL RESTARTED ITSELF. BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD GOING STRAIGHT (MPH 30-45PMH).
THIS CAR HAS HAD A NON-START PROBLEM FOR 6 MOS THAT HAS TODAY DEVELOPED INTO A COMPLETE POWER FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. I WAS PREVIOUSLY TOLD IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM BUT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES AND INTERMITTENT, SO TO WAIT UNTIL HERE WAS AN ERROR CODE AND BRING IT BACK. TODAY THEY SAY THAT IT IS A BAD ALTERNATOR, BUT THE ALTERNATOR TESTED FINE. THE LOW BATTERY ICON COMES ON, ENGINE SURGES ( LIKE THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON - BUT IT ISN'T) THEN ERROR MESSAGES - SEAT BELT/ ABS/AIRBAG HAS DEPLOYED/BLIND SPOT DETECTION NOT WORKING, ETC - ALL ON AND THEN OFF AGAIN. TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY RESORT - NO WARNING LIGHTS. THIS CAR IS POSSESSED. BUT TODAY I LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING.
THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TIPM/FUEL PUMP RELAY IN MANY CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEPS. WHY THE TOWN AND COUNTRY'S WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, I DO NOT KNOW. OUR ISSUE WITH THE TIPM/FUEL PUMP RELAY CAUSED TOTAL POWER LOSS TWICE WHILE DRIVING IN A SCHOOL ZONE TO PICK UP OUR CHILDREN. THIS COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY AND IS NOT SAFE! *TR
ON NOV 10, 2016 OUR 2011 TOWN & COUNTRY HAD A FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURE (RELAY IS INTERNAL TO THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM)). THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, BUT IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN MOVING WHEN THE RELAY FAILED THE VEHICLE MOTOR WOULD HAVE STALLED CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THIS PROBLEM IS SIMILAR TO NHTSA RECALL NO. : 14V-530 AND NHTSA RECALL NO. : 15V-115. PLEASE RE-INVESTIGATE CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILURES.
WHEN BRAKING THE STEERING WHEEL AND CAR SHAKE.... HAVE HAD BRAKES CHECKED REPLACED POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT'S STILL HAPPENING ALSO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM IN REVERSE

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY COMPLAINT IS THE TIPM MODULE JUST LIKE MANY DODGE AND CHRYSLER. AND CHRYSLER THINKS THEY CAN PICK AND CHOOSE WHO THEY REWARD AN RECALL TOO. THIS IS A FAULTY PART ON ALL CHRYSLERS FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND THEY KNOW IT! BUT WHEN I GET DONE WITH THIS CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT I AM ABOUT TO START I HOPE ALL PAYING CHRYSLER AND DODGE CUSTOMER GET MONEY THEY DESERVE!
WE BOUGHT OUR CERTIFIED USED VAN IN MAY OF 2012. IN JUNE OF 2012 THE ALTERNATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED, AS THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP IT STARTED HAVING WEIRD QUIRKS: THE REAR HEATING SYSTEM WOULD COME ON WHILE DRIVING WITH THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS OFF, THE PREVIOUSLY CLOSED WINDOWS WOULD BE ROLLED DOWN, AND SLIDING DOOR WOULD BE OPEN UPON RETURNING TO THE LOCKED VAN. IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 THE KEY FOB HAD BECOME SO SENSITIVE TO THE TOUCH THAT JUST A SLIGHT BUMP WOULD MAKE THE LOCK INDICATOR HONK SOUND. WE TOOK IT INTO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN DECEMBER OF 2015 AND A NEW KEY FOB AND SOFTWARE UPDATE STOPPED THE HONKING, THE SLIDING DOORS OPENING AND THE WINDOWS ROLLING DOWN. THE HEATING SYSTEM CONTINUED TO TURN ON BY ITSELF. IN JULY 2016 THE VAN STARTED BEING HARD TO START. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A GARAGE IN MICHIGAN, WHERE WE WERE VISITING, AND WE WERE TOLD THE CODE WAS A SECURITY ISSUE BETWEEN THE FOB AND THE STARTER. WE DROVE IT TO A DEALER IN MICHIGAN WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VAN STARTED AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2016, ESPECIALLY AFTER A COLD NIGHT. ON OCTOBER 31, 2016, WHILE THE VAN WAS OFF IN THE DRIVEWAY I HEARD A NOISE LIKE A VACUUM COMING FROM UNDER THE VAN. WHEN I WENT TO UNLOCK AND START THE VAN IT WAS DEAD. AFTER HAVING THE BATTERY REPLACED, THE MECHANIC FRIEND WHO REPLACED IT HEARD THE NOISE AND SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING (WHILE THE CAR WAS OFF). THE GARAGE WE TOOK IT TO FOUND THAT WE HAD A FAULTY TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). SOME RESEARCH HAS SHOW US THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR JEEP/DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLES THAT CAUSES AIRBAGS TO NOT WORK BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP RUNS CONSTANTLY. THE HEATING SYSTEM TURNING ON IS ALSO A SYMPTOM OF THIS. WHY IF SOME JEEP/DODGE/CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS PART ARE THEY NOT FOR ALL MODELS? *TR

MY 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY REAR LIFT GATE OPENS AND CLOSES AT WILL WHEN PARKED AND KEY IN NOT TURNED ON. THE ISSUE BEGAN WITH OUR VAN FREQUENTLY REQUIRING MORE THAN ONE ATTEMPT TO START THE ENGINE. THIS PROGRESSED UNTIL WE WERE UNABLE TO START THE VAN AT ALL. I FEARED IT WAS A BAD FUEL PUMP AND THE LOCAL DEALER CAME UP WITH THE SAME DIAGNOSIS. AFTER A FEW DAYS WE WERE INFORMED THAT OUR VAN WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP. WE ARRIVED AT THE SHOP THE NEXT MORNING ONLY TO FIND THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T EVEN START. APPARENTLY OUR TOWN AND COUNTRY HAD A BAD TIPM WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO BURN OUT. TOTAL COST FOR THE TIPM, FUEL PUMP, AND LABOR WAS OVER $1600.
CAR TAKES 20 MINUTES OF ON AND OFF STARTING TILL IT RUNS. TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVEING FOR NO APPARENT REASON
BOUGHT THE VAN IN 2011 AND SINCE THEN, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING IN 2014. I PRESSED THE START BUTTON, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AFTER SEVERAL HUNDRED TRIES, IT WOULD START. THIS HAPPENED 20 TIMES SINCE THEN AND THE DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHY. TODAY, 4 OCT 16, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AT ALL. I'M A DEPLOYED SERVICE MEMBER AND MY WIFE AND THREE CHILDREN USE THIS VAN. THE FAULTY IGNITION SYSTEM WILL LEAVE MY FAMILY STRANDED. I RESEARCHED THIS AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME TIPM SYSTEM, HOWEVER, THERE IS NOT ONE FOR THE TOWN AND COUNTRY. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE HAVE CHRYSLER ADMIT THERE IS A FAULTY TIPM AND THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

THE CAR HAS A DEFECTIVE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THIS MODULE HAS CAUSED THE VAN NOT TO START AND THE ENGINE HAS STALLED DURING DRIVING. THE MODULE HAS A FUEL PUMP RELAY ON A CKT BOARD THAT IS DEFECTIVE. THE RELAY ALSO STUCK CLOSED AND HEATED UP THE BATTERY AND DRAINED IT. THE ONLY WAY TO START THE VEHICLE, IS TO CYCLE THE KEY MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL YOU HERE THE FUEL PUMP RUNNING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES FOR THE NO START PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN, WITH THE ENGINE STALLING AND THE FUEL PUMP SHORTING THE BATTERY. ALSO ANOTHER DEFECT IS THE POWER SLIDING DOORS, THE WIRING WILL BURN AND BREAK. THIS CAUSES THE DOORS TO BECOME STUCK OPEN AND WILL NOT CLOSE. WHEN YOU ARE ON THE ROAD WITH THE DOORS STUCK OPEN, THIS IS NOT SAFE. THE DOORS NEED THE WIRING REPLACED WITH A HEAVY DUTY WIRE.

BATTERY IS BRAND NEW, FUSES HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. IN RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND OTHERS TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BUT HAVE NOT SEEN ANY RECALL. WAS ABLE TO FIIND POSSIBLE TEMPORARY FIX BY USING A FUEL PUMP RELAY BYPASS BUT HAVE NOT TRIED THIS OPTION.. I HAVE CALLED AND SPOKEN TO BE CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT HERE IS NO RECALL AND ALL I CAN DO IS HAVE CAR TOWED TO THEM AND LET THEM CHECK IT OUT. I WOULD THINK WITH RECALL THEY HAVE DONE ON JEEP AND DODGE PROTECTS THERE WOULD BE SOMETHING THEY CAN TELL. I JUST STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I CAN HEAR ELECTRICAL CRACKLING NOISES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, I HAVE ALSO SMELLED OVERHEATING ELECTRICAL WIRES. FOR MONTHS THE TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR KEEPS FLASHING THAT I HAVE A LOW TIRE: YET EVERY TIME I HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE CHECK, THE AIR PRESSURE IS THE SAME IN EACH TIRE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG: THIS OCCURS IN BOTH STATIONARY AND MOTION. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING MY GRANDSON TO SCHOOL, THE DASH LIGHTS AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM WENT COMPLETELY BLACK FOR NO KNOWN REASON, VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I ACCIDENTLY DISCOVERED THAT IF I QUICKLY TURN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON AND THEN OFF THE DASH AND NAVIGATION LIGHTS COME ON. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 37,000 MILES AND I FEEL THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF OF SOME MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES IN THE FUTURE AND THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. I HAVE HAD THE REAR STOW AND GO SEAT REPLACED BECAUSE THE SEAT WOULD NOT GO INTO THE STANDARD POSITION, NOR WOULD IT GO INTO THE STOWED POSITION. THE SEAT WOULD JUST GO UP AND DOWN AT WILL. FINALLY AFTER CALLING CHRYSLER AND 3 TRIPS TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE SEAT. BUT IT STILL ACTS UP OCASSIONALY. AT THIS POINT, I HAVE NOT BEEN OUT ANY MONEY FOR REPAIRS BUT I AM BEGINNING TO FEAR DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I NEVER KNOW IF THE LIGHTS ARE GOING TO SUDDENLY DECIDE TO GO DARK WITH DRIVING AT NIGHT, OR IF THE REAR SEATS ARE GOING TO START GOING UP AND DOWN.

TRIES TO TURN OVER, AND DID START AFTER A LOT OF DIFFERENT EFFORTS ABOUT 7-8 TIMES(BY FULLY DEPRESSING GAS PEDAL WHEN IT WOULD TURN OVER TO START AND MAINTAIN RPMS 3-4000 FOR A MINIMUM OF 5-10 SECONDS) AND NOW WILL NOT START AT ALL. AFTER LAST ATTEMPTS TO START, AND VEHICLE NOT RUNNING, YOU CAN STILL HEAR THE FUEL PUMP OPERATING AND SMELL OF GASOLINE. BATTERY DRAIN WAS NOTICED WITH 24 HOURS, AND DEAD WITH IN 2 DAYS. WHEN VEHICLE HAD STARTED AND ABLE TO DRIVE A SHORT DISTANCE, IT WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, OR SHUT OFF UPON STOPPING FOR A SIGN OR RED LIGHT. THIS IS DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS I AM TRYING TO TAKE MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND TEEN AGE SON TO SCHOOL WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
