ELECTRICAL HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FROM REAR VIEW WINDOW DETECTORS, RESET CAMERA, DOOR LOCKS, AUTO START, AND NOW DOOR LATCHES. I HAVE TO MANUALLY PLACE KEY TO START VAN, AND NOW THE HEATER TURNS ON RANDOMLY, AND THE DOOR OPENS WITHOUT BEING ANYWHERE AROUND THE VAN, AND IT LOCKS AND UNLOCKS RANDOMLY, SOMETIMES WITH KIDS IN IT WITH THE KEYS TOO. I CAN'T GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT COMING OUT TO PARKING LOT AND DOORS ARE OPEN. IT WILL SIT IN OUR GARAGE, HONKING, LOCKING AND UNLOCKING, DOORS OPENING AND CLOSING, WITH NO ONE TOUCHING THE KEY OR NEAR IT. I HAD REPAIR TWICE AT A DEALERSHIP, BOB THOMAS DIMENSION FORD, WHO CHARGED $1200.00 WITH NO FIX, AND COULD NOT KEEP GOING WITHOUT A VEHICLE. NOW IT FEELS UNSAFE TO EVEN DRIVE. *DT *AS *DT THE CONSUMER STATED CHRYSLER DECLINED TO FIX THE RECALL. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING YEARS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHING IT IN 2015, THE CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT STARTED (AND CONTINUES) TO TURN ON RANDOMLY WHENEVER IT WANTS TO, THE A/C STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY, AND THE BLIND SPOT SENSORS ARE ON 100% OF THE TIME. MORE RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE KEPT HAVING TO GET JUMP STARTED EVERY MORNING FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS UNTIL FINALLY IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER AT ALL. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY 3 TIMES, THE ALTERNATOR TWICE (THE FIRST TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLING OUT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY A LONG WAY FROM HOME), THE FUEL PUMP WAS JUST REPLACED, AND THEN I FIND OUT FROM THE GARAGE THAT CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP THAT THE TIPM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM NOW CURRENTLY WAITING FOR A NEW TIPM FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS NOW AS THIS PART IS ON BACK ORDER. THIS VEHICLE HAS COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN THE SHORT TIME I HAVE OWNED IT AND HAS BEEN VERY UNRELIABLE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY, INCLUDING 3 CHILDREN.
CAR WILL BE MOVING AND AUTOMATICALLY SHIFT TO A DIFFERENT GEAR AND SOMETHING GOING ON ELECTRICALLY WITH CAR. AS WELL IT SHAKES A GREAT DEAL
ALL SORTS OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES. PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR SLIDES OPEN RANDOMLY WHEN STARTING CAR OR UNLOCKING DOORS. TAILGATE OPENS RANDOMLY THE SAME WAY. TAILGATE HAS OPENED WHEN CAR WAS PUT IN REVERSE TO BACK UP. PASSENGER REAR DOOR NO LONGER LOCKS. IF CAR IS LOCKED AND ALARM ENABLED, THAT DOOR WILL STILL OPEN AND ALARM GOES OFF. FUEL PUMP COMES ON WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF, DRAINING BATTERY AND DAMAGING FUEL PUMP. FUEL PUMP SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD, AND ALSO WHILE SITTING AT RED LIGHT, CAUSING CAR TO TURN OFF. REPLACED OIL SENSORS, FUEL PUMP, CRANKSHAFT SENSOR; HAD HOUSE OF VOLTAGE AND CIRCUIT TESTS DONE ON VEHICLE TRYING TO DETERMINE ROOT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. AFTER 9 MONTHS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH VEHICLE AND POURING MONEY INTO IT, FINALLY DISCOVERED THAT FAULTY FUEL RELAYS IN TIPM WERE COMMON IN DODGE FROM 2011-2013. SOME MODELS WERE ISSUED A RECALL, BUT NOT THE CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. REPAIRING TIPMS IS PRICEY. FUEL PUMP ISSUE IS NOW SOLVED BUT ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES REMAIN WITH DOORS AND TAILGATE. HEATER HAS ALSO RANDOMLY TURNED ON. REAR AC/HEAT HAS COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD EVEN THOUGH REAR SYSTEM WAS TURNED OFF.
CAR WOULD NOT START FROM PARK. TOWED TO DEALER. DIAGNOSIS , WIN MODULE BAD. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THE 2012? IT WILL COST ABOUT $1500.00 TO FIX. IN ADDITION, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE RIGHT REAR SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE. THE DOORS EITHER DO NOT LOCK OR LOCK AND ARE UNABLE TO OPEN. AGAIN A PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTERS.
THE VAN HAS TURNED OFF COMPLETELY ON THE ROAD AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY SEVERAL TIMES. THE VAN WILL TURN ON, BUT AS SOON AS YOU LET THE KEY GO, IT WILL TURN OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE MADE A LOT OF NOISE WHEN AT A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED THE FLYWHEEL THAT WAS CRACKED. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
2018 MY VEHICLE STARTED HAVING A PROBLEM WHERE I WOULD TURN THE KEY AND IT WOULD JUST SIT THERE TURNING OVER TURNING OVER AND TURNING OVER WITHOUT ME HAVING TO HOLD THE KEY DOWN AND IT WOULDN'T ACTUALLY START AND I WAS TOLD TO WAIT 30 SECONDS AND START IT , IT WOULD WORK BUT THEN IT STOPPED HAPPENING AND WAS FINE. NOW LAST WEEK MY VAN STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. I WAS TOLD AGAIN TO TURN THE KEY WITHOUT STARTING IT WAIT 30 SECONDS AND THEN TRY TO START IT IT WOULD START AFTER THE 4 OR 5TH TRY. AND AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES IT WOULD START BUT THEN DIE. THEN THE NEXT DAY I TRIED 12 DIFFERENT TIMES DOING THIS AND MY VAN WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A GARAGE AND HE HOOKED IT UP TO TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS HE SAID HE'S 99.9% POSITIVE THAT THE TIPM IS BAD. HE LOOKED UP FOR RECALLS FOR THE TIPM UNDER CHRYSLER AND IT ONLY SHOWS THAT THERE WAS RECALLS ON JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES SOME WRANGLERS DODGE DURANGOS AND DODGE GRAND CARAVANS WHICH I DO KNOW THAT THE CARAVAN AND THE TOWN AND COUNTRY ARE ALMOST THE SAME I ALSO HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS I'VE BEEN HAVING I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE CHRYSLERS TOWN & COUNTRY I WAS TOLD THIS PART WILL COST ME $1,500 TO HAVE IT FIXED.
GATE POPS OPEN DUE TO PROBLEM WITH LOCK.
OUR VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY LOOKED FOR CODES IN THE COMPUTER TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID NO CODES WERE GENERATED SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THEY SUGGESTED, WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN, COME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY SO THEY CAN LOOK FOR CODES. WE DID THIS AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. THEIR NEXT SUGGESTION WAS TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THEM FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS SO THEY COULD DRIVE IT AND TRY TO SEE IF IT WOULD HAPPEN WHILE THEY HAVE IT. WE DID THAT AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. THEIR LAST SUGGESTION WAS TO WAIT FOR IT TO GET WORSE. THERE IS THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE ASKING US TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT WE KNOW SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET DURING RUSH HOUR. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY TO RESTART THE CAR. THE CONCERN IS THIS SITUATION IS SO RANDOM IT MAY HAPPEN WHEN WE CAN'T PULL OVER SAFELY AND US OR SOMEBODY ELSE GETS HURT. WE HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND THAT OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SITUATIONS. IT IS AWFUL THAT NOBODY HAS A WAY TO FIX THIS FAMILY VEHICLE UNTIL IT GETS WORSE. WE FEEL WE ARE FORCED NOW TO GET RID OF THIS VEHICLE.
TROUBLE STARTING, BATTERY LIGHT AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON CAR KEPT REVING UP AND DOWN HEATER WAS IN FULL BLAST AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPEN AND I COULD NOT PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL TO GET TOWED AND HAD TO BE DRAGGED ALSO THE TRUNK WOULD RANDOMLY OPEN WHEN I WOULD WALK OUTSIDE. ALL O THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AND I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. EXCEPT FOR THE TRUNK OPENING AND CLOSING, THAT WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I WOULD WALK OUT TO THE PARKING LOT IT WOULD RANDOMLY BE OPEN. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND SINCE THEY COULDN'T PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL IT WAS DRAGGED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. IT WAS SO HOT I ALMOST PASSED OUT SINCE THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT GO DOWN AND IT WAS BLOWING 82DEGREES ON HIGH IN 85 DEGREE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE. THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS THE TIPM GONE BAD AND IT ALSO NOW NEEDS A NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BECAUSE IT WAS ALL RUINED. $1996 +TAX. IT IS STILL AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. BECAUSE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PAY FOR IT. NOW I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS FOR THE TIPM ON NUMEROUS TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS.. WHY WASN'T MINE LISTED AND IT IS DOING THE SAME THING?
THE TPIM IS MALFUNCTIONING WHICH IS NOT ALLOWING MY FUEL PUMP TO WORK. THE CAR WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START UNTIL I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES. NOW IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL AND HAD TO BE TOWED. MY MECHANIC I'M NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS BECAUSE THE PART IS BACK ORDERED INCLUDING A PART TO BYPASS THE ISSUE.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF AND LOSES POWER WHILE OPERATING DURING BOTH HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS, AND OTHER ROADS, DURING BOTH TURNS AND DRIVING STRAIGHT. SLIGHT MOVEMENT OF THE KEY BEING USED CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO REGAIN POWER. HAPPENS WITH 2 DIFFERENT KEYS WHICH BOTH LOOK IN GOOD CONDITION. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, READING SOME FORUMS AND SPEAKING WITH MECHANICS, THE WIN MODULE, A PART THAT WAS RECALLED ON PREVIOUS CHRYSLER AND OTHER MODELS UP TO 2010, APPEARS TO BE THE ISSUE, AND IS NOT AN ISOLATED ONE. POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT I'M SURE HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
WHEN STATIONARY, PARKED, NOT TURNED ON, WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND DRIVER NO WHERE NEAR VEHICLE THE SIDE DOORS AND HATCH OPEN BY THEMSELVES WITHOUT A PERSON PUSHING THE KEY FOB BUTTONS. THEY ALSO CLOSE BY THEMSELVES IN THE SAME MANNER. SOMETIMES THE BEEPING NOISE INDICATING THAT THE DOORS ARE LOCKED OR UNLOCKED GOES OFF BY ITSELF TOO.
DASH LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF DURING OPERATION AT NIGHT THEN COME BACK ON A FEW SECONDS LATER. WE FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH AN ELECTRICAL MODULE THAT IS COSTLY TO FIX BUT THIS PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS AS WELL!
BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM CONTROLLERS FAILED DO TO CORROSION.
THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM IS MAL-FUNCTIONING AND WAS BEEPING INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST AROUND $3K TO FIX IT. AT THE TIME IT WAS INTERMITTENT AND I WAS NOT GOING TO FIX IT NOW IT IS NON-STOP AND INTOLERABLE AND DANGEROUS AS IT IS NOT PERFORMING ITS INTENDED SAFETY FUNCTION AND CAUSING A DISTRACTION. THE DESIGN ALLOWS THIS PIECE TO GET WATER IN IT AND QUIT WORKING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND A SAFETY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX IT. ADDITIONALLY, IT APPEARS MANY PEOPLE ONLINE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME HANDY PEOPLE HAVE FIXED IT THEMSELVES BY REPLACING THE SENSORS AT A COST FAR LESS THAN $3K. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED PLEASE. THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER AND REAR VENTS WOULD NOT BLOW OUT COLD AIR AT ALL. THE DRIVER'S SIDE VENT BLEW OUT SEMI COLD AIR; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE'S TEMPERATURE REMAINED HOT DUE TO THE FAILED AIR CONDITIONER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
THE BLIND SPORT RADAR, MOPAR PART # 56038942AA, UNIT HAS A DESIGN FLAW. THE UNIT HOUSING IS NOT PROPERLY SEALED TO WITHSTAND MOISTURE AND THE ELEMENTS. MOISTURE GETS INSIDE THE UNIT, SHORTING THE ELECTRONICS AND RENDERING IT USELESS. I HAD THE UNITS (THERE ARE 2) REPLACED AT 30,000 MILES AND NOW AT 70,000 MILES THEY HAVE SHORTED AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.. THE COST OF REPLACING THESE UNITS IS $881.39 PER UNIT! IT IS PROBABLY ABOUT 30% OF THE VAN'S VALUE AT THIS POINT. THIS UNIT WORKS AS A BACK UP SENSOR AND BLIND SPOT DETECTOR. THEY ARE A WONDERFUL SAFETY FEATURE TO HAVE ON THE VEHICLE, BUT I BALK AT THE REPLACEMENT PRICE. SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THIS UNIT AND I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE INITIATED. WHEN THE UNIT SHORTS, AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS STATING THAT THE BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEM IS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE BLIND SPOT WARNING LIGHTS IN THE MIRRORS REMAIN ON AT ALL TIMES. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING.
ROUGH IDLE AND BUCKING AT STOP OR SLOW SPEEDS WITH LOSS OF POWER AT SPEED WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN 4 AND 5. LIKE IT MISS'S 5 ALTOGETHER AND GOES STRAIGHT TO 6TH GEAR. TOOK TO SHOP WITH #4 CYLINDER MISFIRE CODE. THEY REPLACED #4 COIL BUT ISSUE RETURNED NEXT DAY. SAME PROBLEM AND SAME CODE. SAID MOST LIKELY CYLINDER HEAD ISSUE AND MY BE COVERED BY RECALL. COULD NOT FIND INFO OF RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT DID FIND MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING. MY CAR HAS 64000 MILES ON IT. SHOULDN'T BE HAVING ISSUE LIKE THIS. WILL A RECALL BE FORTH COMING ON THIS ISSUE OR AM I STUCK WITH IT? RESPECTFULLY. (XXXXX). FOR THE LAST 18 MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO TAKE OUT MY BATTERY EVERY TIME I TURN OFF MY VEHICLE IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE BATTERY FROM DYING BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP RELAY KEEPS RUNNING WHEN I TURN OF THE CAR. AS A RESULT OF THE FUEL PUMP RELAY SYSTEM NOT EVER TURNING OFF WHEN I TURN THE KEY TO TURN THE CAR OFF, MY BATTERY IS DRAINED WITHIN MINUTES AND THE CAR FAILS TO START UNTIL I AM ABLE TO WAIT FOR THE TOW SERVICE TO ARRIVE AND JUMPSTART MY CAR. THE CAR ALSO ABOUT A WEEK AGO JUST SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS STILL DRIVING IT. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING FOR ME. I HAVE 2 YOUNG CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM AND BOTH HAVE HISTORY OF SEIZURES AND THIS CAR IS UNRELIABLE. I HAVE PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR BATTERY AND HAVE THIS CAR TOWED UNTIL FINALLY LEARNING WHAT THE TRUE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE COMPUTER FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT. THE ENGINE COMPUTER FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, AND PSC AND ASD RELAYS WERE REPLACED BY THE CONTACT AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE SCREW ON MY LEFT SIDED POWER LIFT GATE COMPLETELY BROKE. THE CAR WAS AT A STANDSTILL.

THE DEALER (CHRISTOPHER CHEVROLET BUICK, 1111 WICKER ST, TICONDEROGA, NY 12883, (518) 585-2842) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD SEVERAL MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT REQUIRED HER TO BE ABLE TO USE THE BACKUP CAMERA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,200.
DRIVER DOOR CAUGHT FIRE AFTER RECALLED WINDOW SWITCH WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY, A FRIEND BEHIND ME HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER SO THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED TO THE DRIVER DOOR
MY BLIND SPOT SENSORS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. I BROUGHT THEM TO A DEALER THAT SAID THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSES WATER TO GET INTO THE SENSOR HOUSING. I JUST GOT HOME AND REMOVED BOTH SENSORS AND BOTH ARE CORRODED FROM WATER DAMAGE THAT CLEARLY ENTERED AT THE SEAMS OF THE HOUSING. THIS IS SO BAD THAT THEY ARE SPLIT OPEN BECAUSE THE CORROSION AND THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF SHORTING WIRES AND MELTING PLASTIC IN THE AREA WHERE THE SENSORS ARE HOUSED IN THE REAR BUMPERS. THIS ISSUE WAS PRESENT IN BOTH SENSORS AND AFTER SOME ONLINE SEARCHES IT APPEARS THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHER DRIVERS OF THIS MAKE/MODEL ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. BECAUSE THE BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEM IS A SAFETY FEATURE I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM. IF THESE PARTS ARE NOT RECALLED SOMEONE'S FAILED BLIND SPOT DETECTION SENSORS ARE GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT LEADING TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH (IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY.) I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO INVESTIGATE OR SEND A REPLACEMENT PART THAT WOULD BE SEALED TO PREVENT WATER DAMAGE.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD I WAS GOING TO APPLY BRIGHT LIGHTS WHEN I DID SO THEY DID NOT COME ON MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON TRY TO TURN THEM OFF THEY WOULD NOT DO SO HAD NO TURNING SIGNALS LEFT OR RIGHT AND COULD NOT GET THE WIPERS TO STOP
THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING. THE CAUSE IS A DEFECTIVE SENSOR THAT SHORTS OUT DUE TO WATER INFILTRATION.
VEHICLE HAS REPEATEDLY STALLED AND COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS NARROWLY AVOIDING CAUSING AN ACCIDENT BY BEING REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE.
THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM STARTED TO COME ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. THE SYSTEM PINGING/BEEP WHEN NOTHING IS NEAR AND WON'T WORK WHEN VEHICLE IS IN THE BLIND SPOT.
MY VEHICLE'S BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. IT BEGAN FLASHING AND BEEPING INCESSANTLY AND WAS HORRIBLY DISTRACTING. I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SO MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP JUST CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER BECAUSE THE COMPUTER MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM HAD GOTTEN WET. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND THE MODULE WAS PLACED SUCH THAT OVER TIME IT GOT CRACKED AND MOISTURE CAUSES A MALFUNCTION. HE SAID HE'D SEEN A LOT OF THIS. SO, I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN (WILL) DO. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT IS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN IT MALFUNCTIONS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSES ACCIDENTS IF IT HASN'T ALREADY.
WHILE DRIVING THE VAN ALL THE ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF. HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND THE MOST RECENT WHILE GOING 60 HIGHWAY. DEALER FINALLY DIAGNOSED THE TIPM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 mph when the contact crashed into another vehicle which resulted in none of the air bags deploying. The contact sustained injuries to the knee and head injuries, the contact's daughter which was sitting in the passenger seat sustained a headache, and the contact's son which was seated in the rear driver's side seat sustained a headache and sought medical treatment. A police report was taken and the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was towed again to an insurance mechanic. The contact stated no warning lights were illuminated. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,901.
THE AUTOMATIC LIFTGATE OPENED NORMALLY AND MOMENTS LATER FELL SUDDENLY AS THE OPERATOR WAS PLACING ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE. THE LIFTGATE STRUCK THE OPERATOR ON THE HEAD CAUSING INJURY NOT REQUIRING TREATMENT. THE LIFTGATE WAS CLOSED AND LATCH ENGAGED BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. WITHOUT WARNING THE LIFTGATE MOTOR ENGAGED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND THE OPERATOR SUFFERED PROPERTY LOSS. THE OPERATOR PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO SECURE THE LIFTGATE BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE LATCH TO ENGAGE. THE OPERATOR CONTINUED TO DESTINATION CAUTIOUS WITH THE LIFTGATE OPENED. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE OPERATOR WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE LIFTGATE AND ENGAGE THE LATCH. THE LIFTGATE WAS SECURE WHEN THE OPERATOR PROCEEDED TO ENTER THE BUILDING. SOME TIME LATER, THE OPERATOR WAS NOTIFIED BY A CO-WORKER THAT THE VEHICLE LIFTGATE WAS OPENED. THE RECENTLY REPLACED STRUTS ARE NOT SUPPORTING THE LIFTGATE AND IT FALLS SUDDENLY ON THE OPERATOR. THE LIFTGATE OD ALSO ENGAGING WITHOUT OPERATOR INITIATING THE ACTION, EVEN WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION.
WHILE DRIVING CAR WILL DIE. THIS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET AND DIE. HAPPENS RANDOM. WHEN AT A STOP WITH CAR RUNNING CAR WILL DIE. SO FAR THIS HAS HAPPENED 9 TIMES
REAR TRAILING ARM BROKE LOOSE FROM THE CHASSIS. 2 BOLTS SHEARED OFF ON RIGHT SIDE 2 WERE MISSING AND LEFT SIDE TWO WERE MISSING AND THE OTHER 2 WERE LOOSE. THE WHOLE RIGHT SIDE OF THE REAR END WAS HANGING DOWN. THIS HAPPENED WHILE IN TOWN AT LOW SPEED FORTUNATELY AS IN A FEW MINUTES I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPR. GRANDKIDS WERE IN THE CAR. IT WAS TOTALLY UNDRIVEABLE AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. HAVING READ ONLINE THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I WONDER HOW MANY MAJOR ACCIDENTS OR FATALITIES HAVE OCCURED ON CHRYSLER OR DODGE MINIVANS BECAUSE OF THIS CONDITION. THIS VAN HAS LESS THAN 40K MILES.
ON JANUARY 30TH, 2019 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 MPH AT 630PM WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE HEADLIGHT KNOB FROM AUTO TO MANUAL AND MANUAL WORKED BUT AUTO DID NOT. I LET THE CAR SIT WHILE I WAS AT MY SON'S DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT. WHEN WE CAME OUT AND I STARTED THE CAR, THE HEADLIGHTS IN AUTO POSITION WORKED WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME UNTIL I WAS ABOUT 10 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AND IN THE CITY. THE NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AT 715 AM, THE AUTO LIGHTS TURNED OFF AGAIN THEN BACK ON THEN BACK OFF AGAIN. WHEN HEADING TO THE STORE THAT EVENING, THEY CUT OFF AGAIN. THE DASH LIGHT TO SHOW LIGHTS WERE ON TURNED OFF AS WELL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ALL VEHICALS ON THE ROAD.

AFTER FURTHER COMBUSTION CHECK BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT CYLINDER HEADS NEEDED REBUILT TO INCLUDE CRANKSHAFTS, ROCKER ARMS, AND GASKETS. NEW ENGINE COOLER INSTALLED DUE TO FAILURE OF PART LEAKING. CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE FOR ASSISTANCE DUE TO VAN NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND RIGHT CYLINDER HEAD WAS ALREADY REPAIRED 60,000 MILES PRIOR. RECEIVED NO HELP. LEFT CYLINDER HEAD WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. COST 1250. PLUS RENTAL CARS.
WHILE DRIVING MY IGNITION "TURNS OFF", OFTEN WHEN I HIT A BUMP. IT IS AS IF I TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND REMOVED THE KEY. THEY ENTIRE DASH READOUT GOES BLANK. I HAVE FOUND THAT IF I PRESS THE KEY IN IT WILL SOMETIMES COME BACK ON BUT I STILL MUST SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND TURN THE KEY TO START. THIS SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH. ONE TIME I ACCIDENTLY SHIFTED BEYOND NEUTRAL INTO PARK! I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM IN THE TWO PRIOR YEAR MODELS AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THE 2012 MODEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED DOZENS OF TIMES, THE LAST TIME BEING YESTERDAY.
1) THE THIRD ROW PIER FOLDING SEATS HAVE TWICE BEEN INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATED BY A CHILD TOUCHING THE BUTTON, AND NARROWLY ESCAPING BEING CRUSHED BY THE FOLDING SEAT. ALSO, THE SEAT JAMMED IN THE HALF FOLDED POSITION AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTED $2600+ TO FIX IT. THE POWER FOLDING SEATS ARE A DEATH TRAP IF SOMEONE CANNOT GET OUT OF THE WAY WHEN THE BUTTON HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. 2) TWICE NOW, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS BEEN FLASHING RANDOM CODES- THE TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE WHEN THE TIRE PRESSURE IS FINE, THE ABS AND TRACTION LIGHT, AND ALSO WEIRD MINI ROUGH IDLES AT VERY LOW SPEEDS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. IT IS A REPEAT PROBLEM THAT THE SHOP SEEMS TO ONLY TEMPORARILY FIX.

THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I HAVE HAD ALTERNATOR, FUEL PUMP,AND BATTERY REPLACED UNDERNEATH THE VAN I CAN HEAR A NOISE LIKE A VACUUM SOUND COMING FROM THE FUEL PUMP LIKE A FAN IS STILL TURNING EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS FULLY OFF. I HAVE SEEN OTHER REPORTS SIMILAR ONLINWTHAT ARE ONLINE.
OUR TOWN & COUNTRY TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. SOON AFTER IT HAS BEEN TURNED ON. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHILE AT A STOP. ONCE IT SHUTS OFF, IT WON'T RESTART UNTIL SITTING FOR SEVERAL HOURS. BOTH OUR LOCAL CAR MECHANIC AND THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HAVE INSPECTED THE CAR AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NO ERROR CODES SHOW UP. THANKFULLY IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHILE I'VE BEEN IN RELATIVELY SAFE SITUATIONS, LIKE PARKING LOTS OR BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE. BUT THE SAFETY CONCERNS ARE HUGE, IF THIS HAPPENS IN AN INTERSECTION OR HIGHWAY. THERE WAS A FORMAL INVESTIGATION DONE IN 2014 WITH REGARDS TO THE TIMP, OF WHICH THE TOWN AND COUNTRY WAS ULTIMATELY NOT INCLUDED. ATTCHED ARE REPAIR INVOICES FROM BOTH OUR MECHANIC AND FROM THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP.
