VEHICLE HAS A ROUGH IDLE AT COMPLETE STOPS IN THE CITY AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS. ENGINE PRODUCED A MISFIRE AT #6 CYLINDER. PROBLEM CONTINUED AFTER REPAIR. ALL SPARK PLUGS REPLACED TO NO EFFECT. ENGINE PRODUCED A #2 CYLINDER MISFIRE. CODE CLEARED ITSELF. ENGINE STILL IDLES POORLY/ROUGH AT STOPS. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM TO HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD.
THE OBJECT SENSOR MODULES ARE LOCATED IN A "WET ZONE" YET THE PART IS NOT WATER PROOF. THE MOISTURE BLEW OUT THE CIRCUIT BOARD OF THE MODULE AND ACTUALLY DEFORMED THE HOUSING. WHEN I REMOVED THE PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR I FOUND IT WAS PACKED WITH MUD AND OTHER DEBRIS. THE SENSORS WENT SIMALTANEOUSLY AND THE TRIANGLE WARNING LIGHT STAY "LIT UP" AS YOU DRIVE. I LOOKED INTO HAVING THE ISSUE FIXED AND FOUND THAT THE MODULE IS OVER $800 - THAT IS OVER $1600 TO FIX A "SAFETY NUISANCE" A POOR DESIGN CAUSED THE ISSUE. THE WARNING SIGNAL IS A DISTRACTION AND A CONSTATNT REMINDER THAT I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THE ISSUE. IF YOU CAN NOT RECALL FOR THE POOR DESIGN OF A MARKETED "SAFETY SYSTEM" THEN THEY SHOULD AT LEAST MAKE THE PART MORE FEASIBLE OR PROVIDE DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO PULL THE FUSE THAT TURNS ON WARNING LIGHT.
2012 TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN, MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED TO SERVICE BLIND SPOT SYSTEM. SYSTEM BEEPS AND LIGHTS STAY LIT ON MIRRORS. WENT TO DEALER AND WAS SCANNED TO FIND OUT THE PER THE TECH, "MODULE/SENSOR IS BAD NEAR THE BUMPER. IT WAS PRICED OUT AT 1195.00 FOR JUST THE PART. I REALLY NEED THIS SYSTEM TO WORK AS THERE ARE BLIND SPOTS AND NO WAY CAN I AFFORD THESE PARTS. THIS IS A 2012 AND THERE ARE 47,932 MILES ON IT. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN GET SOME ASSISTANCE REPAIRING/REPLACING THESE PARTS SO IT WILL WORK. DOING SOME RESEARCH I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE INVOLVING CHRYSLERS. MY TOWN AND COUNTRY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE TURNED OFF, THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE DISABLED. MY HUSBAND HAD TO HAPHAZARDLY PILOT THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A DEAD BATTERY. I INSISTED THAT A DEAD BATTERY DOES NOT CAUSE A VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF MID DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP RECHECKED IT AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. I GOT IT HOME AND AS I PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ADDRESSING. I BELIEVE THAT A FAULTY TIPM IS THE REASON WHY THIS IS HAPPENING.
FLY WHEEL FLEX PLATE IT WAS A SOUND LIKE MARBLES RATTLING IN A TIN CAN AT IDLE AND AT LOW SPEED . IT WOUND UP BEING THE FLY WHEEL / FLEX PLATE CRACKING ALL AROUND THE BOLT PATTERN. MY MECHANIC FOUND AND REPAIRED IT BEFORE IT BLEW APART.
THE POWER LIFT GATE WAS OPEN AND COLLAPSE ON TO MY WIFE HEAD , AND WILL NOT STAY UP AND WILL NOT LATCH EITHER TO CLOSE THE DOOR THE CAR WAS PARKED AND MY WIFE WAS LOADING GROCERY IN THE TRUNK AND IT GAVE OUT HIT HER IN THE HEAD AS SHE WAS LOADING!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO METRO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM ON MEMORIAL DR C, IN CHICOPEE, MA 01020 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THERMOSTAT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL WHEN IDLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO METRO CHRYSLER WHERE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE FOR THE CONTACT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. ..UPDATED 09/21/17 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF INDEPENDENTLY, BUT THE RADIO STAYS ON. THE KEY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. *JS
TWO SEPARATE ISSUES ABOUT SIX WEEKS APART. FIRST ISSUE: LIFTERS STARTED TO BREAK DOWN, CAUSING A TAPPING SOUND WHEN RUNNING. WHILE DRIVING, ON THREE OCCASIONS THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ROSE TO ABOUT THE 3/4 MARK (WHERE IT NORMALLY SAT JUST BELOW HALF) AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CAR BECAME SLUGGISH. METAL SHAVING DAMAGED BOTH CAMSHAFTS, COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT COST ABOUT $1500 TO REPAIR. TOOK IN FOR REPAIR JULY 1, 2017, REQUIRED A FULL WEEK TO REPAIR. SECOND ISSUE: THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) FAILED, SYMPTOM WAS ENGINE TURNING OVER BUT NOT STARTING UNTIL TRIED SEVERAL TIMES (PUSH BUTTON START). HAPPENED A FEW TIMES IN ISOLATION, TOOK IT IN AFTER HAPPENING TWICE IN A DAY (AND THE THIRD TIME IN A WEEK). TIPM WAS NOT COVERED BY EXTENDED WARRANTY. TOOK IN AUGUST 16, 2017, WAS GOING TO REQUIRE ABOUT 3 DAYS TO REPAIR AT A COST OF $1200. WE HAVE VIDEO SHOWING THIS BEHAVIOR.
MY TOWN & COUNTRY SHUTS DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO WHEN IT SHUTS DOWN. I MAY DRIVE 20 MILES WITH NO PROBLEM AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL SHUT DOWN 1 OR 2 TIMES WITHIN THAT DISTANCE. HAD IT TO THE CHRYSLER CERTIFIED DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND $1400 LATER THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE.. THIS PROBLEM IS BEEN GOING ON FOR COUPLE MONTHS AND NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. NOT EVEN THE CHRYSLER. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND HAD A CAR ACCIDENT.
MY VAN HAS ONLY 36,714 MILES ON IT AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING COSTING $496.24 TODAY. I HAVE HEARD OF A WHEEL BEARING ISSUE RECALL INVOLVING 2012 TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS. IS MY VAN A PART OF THIS RECALL?
INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH STARTING. THE CAR WAS IN A WORKSHOP FOR 3 DAYS AND THE COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW ANY CODE. HOWEVER, AS SOON AS THE CAR WAS OUT, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED.
THIS CAR IS NEED CAMSHAFTS, GASKETS AND VALVE ARMS IN BOTH SIDE PLUS MORE THE CAR ONLY HAS 64,000 I PUT ONLY 18,000 IN 2 YEARS KEEP THE CAR UP TO DATE WITH OIL CHANGE BEEN COMPLAINING SINCE DAY ONE THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR HAD A DIAGNOSTIC BY ONE CHRYSLER DEALER PAID BY THE PRIVATE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND CUT NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AFTER A YEAR OF IT THE CAR NEED CAMSHAFTS, VALVE ARMS IN BOTH SIDES AND GASKETS FOR A COST OF 1,100. ONE OF THE PARTS WAS UNDER GUARANTEE BY CHRYSLER LIKE THE LEFT SIDE BUT NOT THE RIGHT SIDE.
MY TOWN AND COUNTRY SPEEDS UP AUTOMATICALLY ON OCCASION. I FEEL THE ACCELERATOR DROP DOWN FROM MY FOOT. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT ON, I NEVER USE IT. IT IS DO BAD I I AM LOOKING FOR PLACES TO RUN THE CAR OFF OF THE ROAD IF NECESSARY. I HAVE HAD MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND WAS TREATED LIKE A DUMB WOMAN AND TOLD THAT IT CAN NOT HAPPEN. I HAVE LESS THEN 30,000 MILES ON IT.
THE VEHICLE I HAVE SHUTS DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. 1. THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS WERE PERFORMED BY THE MECHANIC SOFTWARE UPDATE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT ON 26 JANUARY 2017 BUT THIS DID NOT FIX IT THE PROBLEM AND KEPT SHUTTING WHILE DRIVING. 66.60 EUROS. 2. MECHANIC TEST DROVE VEHICLE AND SINCE THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR ASKED US TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IN A WEEK. PROBLEM NOT FIX. 3. ON 16 MARCH 2017 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. READ ERROR MEMORY, ERROR CODE; KW-NW SENSOR FAULTY. FUSES, CONNECTORS, CONTROL UNIT VERIFIED EVAP SYSTEM CHECKS WIRING VERIFIED VTT TEST PERFORMED. CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSOR, SEALANT SUCTION BRIDGE THICKENING, MOTORS OI 5W 30 REPLACED. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. 305,23 EUROS SPENT. 4. SPARK PLUGS REPLACED ON 7 APRIL 2017 BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. 192,74 EUROS SPENT. THEN I LEFT MY VEHICLE FOR 11 DAYS IN THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP FROM 18 APRIL TO 28 APRIL. ENGINE PRESSURE CHECK CAMSHAFTS AND CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND REPROGRAMMED VEHICLE. ALSO, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY TOOK APART THE EVC AND WELDED A CABLE. 85 EUROS SPENT. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AGAIN. I HAD ASKED THE DEALERSHIP WHAT I NEEDED TO DO IF THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME TO SELL THE CAR OR JUNK IT. I ASKED HOW I CAN SELL A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE THAT'S 5 YEARS OLD? THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE. I AM AWAITING ANSWER FROM CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE. REFERENCE NUMBER 35128943. I HAVE ALMOST HAD ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS AND INFORM CHRYSLER THIS. SHOULD I BE SEEKING LEGAL ACTION AGAINST CHRYSLER? SHOULD CHRYSLER BUY MY VEHICLE BACK? WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS? I AM CURRENTLY LIVING IN GERMANY BUT PURCHASE THE VEHICLE IN THE USA.
VEHICLE WOULD QUIT WHEN DRIVING. THIS WAS A RECALL ON THE 2008-2010 VANS, BUT IS NOW HAPPENING ON LATER MODELS WITH THE SAME IGNITION SYSTEM & FOBIK STYLE KEYS.
BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, DASH LIGHTS FLASHING, WINDOWS NOT WORKING. THEN EVERYTHING WORKING. ALTERNATOR TESTED AT 14.7 VOLTS OUT OF 15. CRANKING AMPS ON BATTERY DOWN BUT TESTED GOOD. REPLACED BATTERY. SAME ISSUES. HAS NOT STALLED BUT RPM'S DIP. LOSS OF SOME POWER WHEN TRAVELLING UP HILL. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT.
THE BLIND SPOT SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON AND CONSTANTLY DINGS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS POOR VISIBILITY AND THIS SYSTEM IS NECESSARY TO HELP PREVENT ACCIDENTS. THE CONSTANT DINGING IS A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS PROBLEM AND THE DEALER ADMITTED THAT THEY SEE OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE PROBLEM. THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE IS OFTEN DRIVEN BY MOMS WITH CHILDREN. NOT BEING ABLE TO DETERMINE IF THERE IS ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE DRIVER'S BLIND SPOT MAY CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. THE DEALER REPORTED THAT BOTH THE MODULE AND CONNECTOR HAVE FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. THE REPAIR BILL WAS REPORTED AS $1638.00. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. WHEN CONTACTING CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE, WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THAT THEY REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER ANY OTHER CUSTOMER LOYALTY PLAN. I REQUESTED THAT THE REPRESENTATIVE REVIEW MY COMPLAINT WITH THE SUPERVISOR OR MANAGER AND SHE REFUSED TO TAKE MY PROBLEM FURTHER UP IN THE ORGANIZATION. SHE TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. ELECTRICAL PARTS SHOULD BE DESIGNED SO THAT THEY ARE NOT AFFECTED BY CORROSION. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND ENSURE THAT THE DESIGN IS CHANGED TO PREVENT CORROSION IN THE FUTURE. HEADLAMPS, FOR EXAMPLE, ARE SUBJECTED TO WEATHER AND MOISTURE AND ARE DESIGNED TO OPERATE FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE HAD THE SAME DESIGN REQUIREMENTS TO GUARD AGAINST THE AFFECTS OF CORROSION. CHRYSLER SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR DESIGNS AND MAKE THE NECESSARY DESIGN CHANGES AND NOT EXPECT THEIR CUSTOMERS TO FOOT A $1600.00 REPAIR BILL.
DRIVER SIDE REAR VENT WINDOW SWITCH AND THE WIRE HARNESS CONNECTION IT PLUGS INTO MELTED WHILE DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL. I PULLED OVER SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND QUICKLY TOOK MY THREE CHILDREN OUT OF MY VAN, LUCKILY NO FIRE STARTED AND NO ONE HURT. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE, MY HUSBAND PULLED THE WINDOW VENT SWITCH OUT TO FIND IT COMPLETLY MELTED ALONG WITH THE CONNECTOR IT PLUGS INTO. NOW KNOWING IT IS A RECALL I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND WOULD LIKE TO GET IT REPAIRED.

WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THIS MORNING AT APPROXIMATELY 7 A.M. PERIOD ON MAJOR ROAD IN LAKE ORION MICHIGAN WHEN DRIVING IN APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR. THE CAR SHUT DOWN, TURNED OFF. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. WHILE DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR ALSO. HAD TO PULL OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MAJOR ROAD. NO CODES APPEARED ON THE DASH. FULL TANK OF GAS. JUST HAD THE OIL CHANGED THE DAY BEFORE. AT FRIENDLY CHEVROLET IN LAPEER MICHIGAN. ALREADY NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ADVISED WITH NO CODES NOT SURE IF THEY CAN HELP OUT AT ALL. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL THOUGH. AND COURTEOUS.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE CAR POWER TURNS OFF WHEN HITTING BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THIS OCCURRED OVER A DOZEN TIMES ON A TRIP FROM CHICAGO TO FLORIDA. THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY BUT NOT LIMITED TO CITY DRIVING ONCE ARRIVING IN FLORIDA AND DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. ADDITIONALLY, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE TAKES MULTIPLE TIMES TO TRY AND START. THIS OCCURRED EVEN AFTER READING OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AND CHRYSLER RECOMMENDS TAKING THE KEY FOB OFF OF THE KEY CHAIN AND USING ALONE
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VAN WILL SHUT OFF WE WILL LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES YOU LOSE ALL POWER AS IF THE KEY IS OFF,I WILL JIGGLE THE KEY AND IT WILL START BACK UP OR IT WILL POWER UP, YOU SHIFT INTO NUETRAL AND TURN THE KEY AND START BACK UP IT IS INTERMITTENT AND IT COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING SLOW OR DRIVING 70MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO RUN AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TURNED OFF.
TAKATA RECALL- WHILE DRIVING THIS AFTERNOON MY CHILDREN CALLED, FROM THE SECOND AND THIRD ROW SEATS, THAT THE SEAT BELTS HAD RIPPED. UPON STOPPING I WENT TO INSPECT THE SEAT BELTS AND SAW THAT TWO OF THE SEAT BELTS HAD TEARS AND ONE WAS COMPLETELY SEVERED.
ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH WITH ENGINE LIGHT ON. TOOK TO AUTOZONE TO SEE WHAT WAS THE CODE TO PROBLEM. THEY SAID CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE. TOOK VAN TO GET SERVICED. THEY REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND CYLINDER # 2 COIL PACK. ALL WORK DONE IN MARCH 2017. TOOK TRIP TO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AND IN ARIZONA ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. UPON ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION, I TOOK VAN TO AUTOZONE TO CHECK CODE. CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE. COME BACK TO SAN ANTONIO AND TAKE TO SHOP TO GET REPAIRED. LIGHT IS OFF AND VAN RUNS GREAT. 2 DAYS LATER ENGINE LIGHT ON! AUTOZONE, CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE. TOOK TO SHOP AND MECHANIC SAID THAT WE WILL HAVE TO DO THIS ALL THE TIME. HE HAS BEEN WORKING ON 3 OTHER TOWN & COUNTRY'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE MISFIRES IN CYLINDERS #6, CYL. # 4 OR CYL. #2. WHAT CAN BE DONE????
MY BLIND SPOT MIRROR INDICATES THAT IT NEEDS TO BE SERVICED. I TOOK IT TO A DEALE RAND THEY REPLACED THE ONE MONITOR. ANOTHER INDICATION CAME UP,WHICH THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE OF CORROSION.THE RIGHT REAR INDICATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY REFUSED TO EXCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THE CORROSION.THE CAST WOULD BE AROUND $11,000 DOLLARS I BELIEVE THAT IT IS CHRYSLER PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION THANK YOU WHAT ELSE CAN I DO. PS I AM A 81 YEAR OLD MAN AND THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR ME.

WHILE DRIVING I STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING AND BEGAN TO PULL OVER. SUDDENLY I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL. IMMEDIATELY I SHUT THE VAN OFF AND RUSHED TO GET MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE VAN. LATER MY HUSBAND BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE AND FOUND THAT THE WINDOW SWITCH AND HARNESS IT PLUGS INTO WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. WE GOOGLED WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND OUR VAN FALLS UNDER THE RECALL BUT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. THE RECALL CODE IS P25 REAR WINDOW VENT SWITCH.
I HAD A 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY BUT HAD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE SOMEONE HIT MY CAR AND TOTALED IT. I PURCHASED THE SUBJECT VEHICLE IN LATE 2012. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IN 2015 AND NOT QUITE 2 YEARS LATER, THE NEW REBUILT TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BY A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. I WAS ON MY WAY TO PICK UP MY SON. AS I INCREASED SPEED THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE (KIND OF). THE RPM INDICATOR WAS GOING BACK AND FORTH. GOING 25 MPH IT WAS ALMOST AT THREE. IT TOOK A VERY HARD EFFORT TO GET THE CAR TO GO 40 MPH.
MY CAR HAS SHUT OFF 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN 4 SEPARATE DATES RANDOMLY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES. THE TIMES THE CAR HAS SHUT OFF HAS BEEN WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOUT 20KM PER HOUR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC DURING THESE 4 EVENTS. THE FIRST TWO TIMES THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS SO THEY SENT US HOME. THE 3RD TIME WE WENT THEY REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSORS BUT AS WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT SEEMS LIKE THE PROBLEM MAY COME BACK AGAIN. TIME WILL TELL IF IT GOT FIXED OR NOT. HOPEFULLY WE ARE NOT INVOLVED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT BY THEN BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE BEGAN IN JANUARY OF THIS 2017.

THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM HAS FAILED. SENSORS IN THE REAR BUMPER HAVE FAILED CAUSING THE SYSTEM TO BE INOPERABLE. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS WITH THE NHTSA FOR THIS VEHICLE FILED UNDER ELECTRICAL, UNKNOWN AND OTHER. THIS SAFETY FEATURE FAILED AT JUST OVER 50K MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION IN LIGHT TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET. THE SERVICE BLIND SPOT SYSTEM MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH WHERE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE IS NORMALLY DISPLAYED AND YELLOW WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED IN EACH REAR VIEW MIRROR. PRICED THE PARTS AT APPROX. $900.00 PER SENSOR UNINSTALLED. THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN SHUT OFF AT THIS TIME. THIS IS A NECESSARY SAFETY FEATURE FOR THIS LARGE FAMILY VEHICLE WITH NUMEROUS BLIND SPOTS. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THESE FAILING SENSORS (WITH THE NHTSA AND OTHER CONSUMER SITES) INDICATE THE PART IS INFERIOR AND/OR HAS BEEN INSTALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER IN AN AREA (EXPOSED UNDERSIDE OF REAR BUMPER FASCIA) WHERE IT IS MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO WATER AND OTHER CORROSIVE ELEMENTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAR THE VEHICLES WINDSHIELD OF FROST AND FOG THE A/C UNIT GOES OUT. THE A/C UNIT IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD OF FOG AND FROST. THIS IS A WELL KNOW PROBLEM TO CHRYSLER AND THEY REFUSE TO EVEN HELP WITH THE NEEDED REPAIR.
THE TIPM WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AFTER THE ENGINE STALLED (WHILE STATIONARY) AND/OR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OCCURRED WHEN BOTH SLIDING SIDE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN OR CLOSE FOR A WEEK AND THEN THEY WOULD WORK PERFECTLY, THEN NOT WORK.

WE RECENTLY PURCHASED OUR SECOND TOWN AND COUNTRY AFTER HAVING REALLY LIKING OUR FIRST VAN. WE REALLY LIKED THE IDEA OF HAVING THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM. A YEAR OR SO INTO OWNING THE VAN WE STARTED GETTING A WARNING ABOUT THE BLIND SPOT SYSTEM NOT BEING AVAILABLE AND SAID THAT IT NEEDED SERVICE. IT STARTED HAPPENING WHEN THE SNOW STARTED FLYING HERE IN MICHIGAN. NOW AS SOON AS YOU START THE VEHICLE IT STATES IT IS NOT AVAILABLE AND LEAVES THE TRIANGLES LIT IN THE MIRRORS WITH AN OCCASIONAL BEEPING SOUND. FROM OTHER POSTS AND RESEARCH I HAVE READ THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH WATER GETTING INTO THESE SENSORS AND SHORTING THEM OUT. WHY THESE SENSORS WEREN'T MADE MORE WEATHER PROOF IS BEYOND ME. SINCE THIS IS AN ADD ON TO MAKE DRIVING SAFER I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD STEP UP, BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND RECALL THESE VERY EXPENSIVE SAFETY MODULES. DEAR ALL, I WENT TO MIAMI LAKES AUTO MALL TO CLAIM FOR THE RECALL ON MY CAR AND THEY DENIED TO REPLACE IT. MY WIFE IS DRIVING THE CAR AND I AFRAID THAT SHE CAN BE IN DANGER BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM. THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME WHEN BEING DRIVEN. THE CHRYSLER PARTS PERSON SAYS THE PROBLEM IS A DEFECTIVE CLOCK-SPRING WHICH RENDERS THE AIR BAG INOPERABLE. WITH A FORMER TOWN & COUNTRY I OWNED THEY REPLACED THE CLOCK-SPRING AS A SAFETY RECALL EVEN AFTER 80K MI. NOW THOUGH THEY TELL ME THE DEFECTIVE CLOCK- SPRING IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM BUT MINE EVEN THOUGH THE AIR BAG WILL NOT FUNCTION BECAUSE OF IT. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 60K MI. ON IT BUT THE PROBLEM BEGAN WAY BEFORE THIS.
ON NOVEMBER 16, 2016 I WAS DRIVING MY WIFE'S 2012 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY BACK FROM SCHOOL ON THE NJ PARKWAY USING THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION. AS I APPROACHED THE BACK OF A SLOWER MOVING SEMI-TRUCK I PUSHED THE OFF BUTTON FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL AS I HAD NORMALLY DONE IN THE PAST. THE VAN DID NOT STOP ITS SPEED. I PRESSED THE BRAKES WHICH IS ANOTHER WAY THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL TURNS OFF, THAT DID NOT WORK EITHER. I WAS SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES COMING UP ON TRAFFIC AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND AS THE BRAKES SLOWED THE CAR THE ACCELERATOR WOULD HASTEN MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE SPEED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT. IT WAS THE SCARIEST MOMENTS IN MY LIFE. I HAD USED MY QUICK REFLEXES TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE PARKWAY, BUT THE VAN'S ENGINE WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING. I FINALLY GOT THE VAN SLOW ENOUGH TO PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE REGULAR BRAKE, BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS STILL ACCELERATING THE ENGINE. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF WHEN THE VAN WAS STATIONARY. A FEW MINUTES LATER I TURNED THE VAN BACK ON TO SEE IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS STILL MALFUNCTIONING AND IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I WAITED UNTIL I HEARD A NOISE IN THE ENGINE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A SWITCH TURNING OFF, I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND THE CAR ACTED NORMAL. I HAD A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH PINE BELT CHRYSLER JEEP SERVICE SET FOR NOVEMBER 23, 2016. I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF IN THE MORNING TO BE EXAMINED, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I HAD A WAKE FOR MY GRANDMOTHER WHO PASSED AWAY THAT WEEK AND THEY DID NOT GET TO EVEN LOOK AT THE CRUISE CONTROL ISSUE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK AND INERTIA SET IN OVER TIME, PLUS THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME A DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO LOOK AT THE CAR MALFUNCTION. I DID NOT BRING IT BACK AGAIN FOR THAT SERVICE SINCE MONEY WAS TIGHT AT THE TIME AND I HAVE NOT TRIED TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION IN THE CAR SINCE THAT ALMOST DEADLY TIME.

EXPERIENCING VERY SIMILAR ISSUE WITH DRIVER SIDE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AFTER A RAINY DAY WHERE A SMALL AMOUNT OF RAIN CAME INSIDE FROM GOING THROUGH DRIVETHROUGHS ETC. AFTER THAT AND SINCE, WINDOWS OPEN AND CLOSE RANDOMLY DURING DRIVING CAUSING A DISTRACTION AND ALLOWING SNOW/RAIN INSIDE. OFTEN THE WINDOWS JUST GET STUCK. AFFECTS 2 FRONT, 2 PASSENGER WINDOWS AND 2 SIDE MIRRORS. FROM INSPECTION IT APPEARS THAT CIRCUIT IS SHORTING AROUND CORROSION AND HAD SIGNIFICANT DISCOLORING OF BOARD, POSSIBLY GROUND LAYER. UPON REMOVING BOARD THAT IS IN CONTROL SWITCH HOUSING FOUND MOISTURE GETS TRAPPED ON BOARD BETWEEN RUBBER COVER AND CAUSES CORROSION AND FAILURE. COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE MOTOR BURNOUT AND FIRE I SUPPOSE JUST LIKE REAR ONE. CAUSED WINDOW TO ROLL DOWN AND GET STUCK DURING SNOW STORM RECENTLY. NOW CAN'T GET THEM DOWN AT ALL. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND TOLD ME TO BRING IN TO DEALER. DID SO AND THEY REFUSED TO COVER UNDER EXISTING WARRANTY. THEN DEALER CALLED CHRYSLER AND ESCALATED IT TO MORE SENIOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT. TOLD ME IF I HAD "GIVEN PATRONAGE TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP MORE OFTEN THEN THEY PROBABLY WOULD JUST COVER IT" BUT THAT SINCE I "WAS NOT A REGULAR CUSTOMER" THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME. *TR
WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AT CARMAX IN CALFORNIA, RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS OF 2014 WE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED AND ROTORS. 2015 OF AUGUST WE HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKES REPLACED. NOT IT IS 2016 OCTOBER AND MY FRONT BRAKES (RIGHT SIDE MOSTLY) IS SQUEAKING AGAIN. WE OWN A CHRYSLER 300 SRT8 AND A TAHOE, MY TAHOE OF WHICH I HAD SINCE 2005, HAS ONLY HAD 2 BRAKE REPLACEMENTS. I FEEL THERE IS SOME OTHER ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NO ONE IS LOOKING INTO IT. THERE IS SOMETHING DEFECTIVE. AND I THINK IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. VEHICLE WILL NOT PROPERLY START RELIABLY. ON MANY OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WILL START AFTER A THIRD OR FOURTH ATTEMPT. THE MAIN CONCERN WAS THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AS IT ENTERED (VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION) A BUSY STREET. POWER STEERING WENT OUT. AFTER COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED BY PRESSING THE IGNITION BUTTON. NO DIAGNOSTICS CODES WERE REPORTED WHEN CHECKED AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. I ASKED THEM TO TEST THE TIPM AND FUEL PUMP RELAY, AND THEY WERE ABLE TO CONFIRM THE ISSUE.
CAR WOULD CRANK BUT NOT TURN OVER. BROUGHT TO DEALER AND THEY REPLACED ALTERNATOR. PROBLEM PERSISTED, THEY REPLACE BATTERY. PROBLEM WORSENED, RANDOM ELECTRICAL ISSUES WHEN DRIVING, CAR CUTTING OFF AND STALLING IN INTERSECTIONS, STILL NOT TURNING OVER INTERMITTENTLY WHEN PARKED. WAS TOLD MY TIPM MODULE IS BAD. APPARENTLY CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND IS ONLY REPLACING IN SOME CARS, BUT NOT ALL. IT WAS VERY SCARY WHEN THE CAR WAS STALLING WHILE DRIVING THEN NOT STARTING. ALSO WAS STRANDED ON VACATION DUE TO CAR NOT TURNING OVER.

WHEN HOOKED UP TO A CODE SCANNER IT READS A PERMANENT CODE "MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 3, SO I HAD ALL SIX SPARK PLUGS REPLACED AS WELL AS THE IGNITION COILS. AFTER THE NEW PARTS WERE INSTALLED THE VEHICLE STILL RUNS ROUGH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON EVEN IF IT IS CLEARED DUE TO THE SAME PERMANENT CODE "MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 3". AFTER RESEARCH THERE ARE "CYLINDER MISFIRE" RECALLS FOR CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VANS " DUE TO EXCESSIVE CYLINDER WEAR" ON THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL YEAR VEHICLE I HAVE. I HAVE ENTERED MY VEHICLES VIN ON THIS SITE AND IT DOES NOT COME UP AS MY VEHICLE HAVING THIS RECALL. I HAVE DONE EVEN MORE RESEARCH AND MY TOWN AND COUNTRY HAS THE SAME ENGINE ISSUE AS INDIVIDUALS WITH THE MISFIRE RECALL. I AM HOPING SOMETHING CAN BE DONE

ALTERNATOR WENT OUT AT 86K. KNOWN ISSUE WITH EXACT SAME PART # ON OTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. VAN IS IN THE SHOP NOW GETTING A $480 REPLACEMENT INSTALLED PLUS 1.2 HOURS OF LABOR FOR A PART THAT IF ON ANOTHER VEHICLE WOULD BE COVERED UNDER AN EXISTING RECALL.
THIS IS MY 7TH CHRYSLER OR DODGE MINIVAN - AND I LOVE THEM. I SEARCHED FOR 6 MONTHS TO FIND THE MODEL/COLOR/FEATURES I WANTED BEFORE FINDING THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I WAS THRILLED THAT IT HAD ALL THE OPTIONS I WANTED - HIGHEST ON MY LIST IS THE 'BLIND SPOT SENSORS' AS I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING WITH KIDS IN THE CAR ON BUSY MICHIGAN HIGHWAYS. A FEW WEEKS AGO THE SENSORS WOULD 'STICK' ON, BUT AFTER RESTARTING THE VAN IT THEY WOULD WORK PROPERLY FOR A WHILE, AND THEN 'STICK' ON AGAIN. NOW THEY ARE ALWAYS ON - MAKING AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE SAFETY FEATURE OPTION USELESS AS I HAVE HAD TO TURN THEM OFF TO STOP THE CONSTANT CHIMING AND FOR THE SENSOR LIGHTS IN MY SIDE-VIEW MIRRORS TO BE OFF. I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND APPARENTLY THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE. WHERE CAN I GET SERIOUS SAFETY THIS ISSUE FIXED? AS IT IS APPARENTLY SOME DESIGN FLAW I DO NOT BELIEVE *I* SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING FOR THESE REPAIRS AND IF IT CANNOT BE FIXED I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED THE STICKER COST OF THIS FEATURE AS IT CANNOT BE USED!
