WHILE DRIVING THE BLIND SPOT DETECTOR SENSOR FAILED THEN LOST ALL POWER TO CAB OF VEHICLE INCLUDING THE DASH. WHEN POWER CAME BACK ON THE DISPLAY SHOWED "NO BUS". HAPPENED 6 TIMES WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO THEN REFERRED THE CONTACT TO CHRYSLER DUE TO THE FAILURE BEING A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
THE THIRD ROW SEATING SHOULDER HARNESSES HAVE SHREDDED APART.
THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES ARE LEAKING. WHILE TRAVELING DAILY TO WORK ON MANY OCCASIONS, MY LIGHTS IN THE DASH, MY RADIO AND ALL POWER UP FRONT WOULD GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AND JUST RECENTLY WHILE PARKED. OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING. HAD TO REPLACE THE FULL OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY AND INT MANIFOLD SET. TWICE, AS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION, THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED AND THE ABILITY TO STEER IS GONE. THE RADIO HAS STAYED ON. BOTH INSTANCES HAVE HAPPENED AT 25MPH OR LESS, THANKFULLY!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, LOUD NOISES WERE HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIFTER IN THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY. THE DEALER (SHEETS CHRYSLER IN BECKLEY, WEST VIRGINIA) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 133,000.
PREVIOUS COMPLAINT AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF ALTHOUGH IMPACT FELT EXTREME.
BLIND SPOT DETECTION MONITOR FAILING DUE TO CORROSION ON THE TERMINALS
VEHICLE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED SERVICE BLIND SPOT DETECTOR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. AFTER A FEW MORE MILES, LOST POWER TO THE ENTIRE DISPLAY AND INTERIOR LIGHTS. THE SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE, TEMP GAUGES FLAT LINED. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE DISPLAY CAME BACK ON WITH ALL THE FAULT LIGHTS ON: ENGINE LIGHT, TIRE PRESSURE, BRAKE LIGHT, ETC. SERVICE CENTER DETAILED THE PROBLEM WAS A CORRODED BLIND SPOT SENSOR THAT CAUSED A BUS FAILURE AND SHORTED OUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER DOING SEVERAL SEARCHES ONLINE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE BLIND SPOT DETECTORS BECOMING CORRODED AND NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. ENGINE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY CAN BE CRACKED CAUSING AN OIL LEAK. DISCOVERED WHILE INVESTIGATING OIL POOLING ON THE GROUND WHILE PARKED. OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY IS A PLASTIC FORMED PART WITH METAL COOLERS ATTACHED. THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THIS ASSEMBLY. AUTO DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THE PLASTIC COOLER ASSEMBLY IS CRACKED DUE TO OVER TIGHTENING OF THE OIL FILTER COVER AND THE PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. CHRYSLER HAS ALREADY IDENTIFIED THERE IS A HIGH NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. REVIEW CHRYSLER SERVICE BULLETIN #09-008-15 AND IT HAS A LIST OF VEHICLES THAT MAY HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED FCA WARRANTY AND THEY CONFIRMED THE PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS NOT PART OF THE ENGINE, BUT AN ITEM ATTACHED TO THE ENGINE. THE AUTO SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY HAD NUMEROUS DESIGN REVISIONS BECAUSE OF CRACKING.
TWICE, AS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION, THE ENGINE HAS STOPPED AND THE ABILITY TO STEER IS GONE. THE RADIO HAS STAYED ON. BOTH INSTANCES HAVE HAPPENED AT 25MPH OR LESS, THANKFULLY!
OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING. HAD TO REPLACE THE FULL OIL FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY AND INT MANIFOLD SET. THIS REPAIR WAS AT 45101 MILES!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (BLEVINS BROS, 5914 STATE HWY 812 OGDENSBURG, NY 13669) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A SHORTAGE IN THE DRIVER'S DOOR WIRING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLIND SPOT DETECTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 33453442. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,048.
WHILE TRAVELING DAILY TO WORK ON MANY OCCASIONS, MY LIGHTS IN THE DASH, MY RADIO AND ALL POWER UP FRONT WOULD GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AND JUST RECENTLY WHILE PARKED.I DID NOT THINK TOO MUCH OF IT SO I HAD REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE ELECTRONIC TO THE FRONT WOULD CONTINUE TO FAIL I WAS UNABLE TO CORRELATE RATHER ANYTHING ELSE COULD HAVE CAUSED IT. MY AUTOMATIC DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN ALTHOUGH THE SWITCH WAS ON AND NOTHING WAS BLOCKING IT. ALSO MY TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS NOT GOING OFF EVEN AFTER HAVING TO REPLACE THE TIRES.
THE OUTBOARD SEAT BELTS IN THE THIRD ROW ARE INSTALLED TOO FAR FORWARD. THEY DO NOT LAY AGAINST THE PASSENGERS CHEST AND DO NOT FIT CAR SEATS/BOOSTER SEATS PROPERLY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND A VERY DISAPPOINTING DISCOVERY AFTER WE PURCHASED THIS MINIVAN. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW.
MY 2014 T&C HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TPMS. IT SHOWS THAT I HAVE LOW PRESSURE ALL THE TIME. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS (P63 NHTSA 14V-632) BUT THE DEALER SAYS MY VIN IS NOT COVERED. I HAVE THE EXACT PROBLEM AND MODEL YEAR SO COME ON.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT NOTIFICATION STAYING ON.
EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY FAILED WHEN PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. VEHICLE HAS NO EMERGENCY BRAKE/PARKING BRAKE UNTIL EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY IS REPLACED. VEHICLE IS 38 MONTHS OLD AND HAS 31,000 MILES. VEHICLE STATIONARY, PARKED ON GRADE. HAD TO BLOCK THE WHEELS TO ENSURE AGAINST ROLL BACK.
SIDE MONITOR SENSORS FAIL AFTER LESS THAN 30K MILES. SYSTEM BEEPS EVERY 5 SECONDS AND SPEEDOMETER FLASHES WARNING TO GET THE SYSTEM SERVICED. IT WILL NOT STOP BEEPING. THE MONITORS ROT OUT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SEALED PROPERLY. THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL. IT'S A $2,100 DEALER FIX. CHRYSLER DOES NOT ADMIT IT'S A DEFECT YET THERE ARE COMPLAINTS OF FAILURE ALL OVER THE WEB.
WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY TWICE ON THIS VAN. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN DECEMBER 16, 2016 WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY THE SECOND TIME WAS DECEMBER 30,2017 BUT, WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. OUR VAN ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT AND THIS PART SHOULD NOT FAIL AS OFTEN AS IT HAS. WE SET THE PARK BRAKE IN ALL OF OUR CARS WHEN WE PARK THEM. I'VE NEVER HAD A CAR'S PARK BRAKE FAIL, YET IT'S HAPPENED TO THIS CAR TWICE NOW, WHEN IT WAS TWO YEARS OLD AND AGAIN AT THREE YEARS AND ALMOST ONE YEAR TO THE DAY WHEN THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS INSTALLED. WHEN THE ASSEMBLY / CABLE BROKE IT WAS SITTING STILL IN A PARKING LOT.
WITHOUT WARNING THE ENGINE AND ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS (INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTING, RADIO, WIPERS, AC-HEAT/BLOWER, BRAKE ASSIST, STEERING ASSIST, AIRBAG, SPEED INDICATOR, ETC) ALL SHUT OFF. THERE ARE NO DASH WARNING LIGHTS. THE DASHBOARD IS COMPLETELY BLACK FOR A MOMENT (UNTIL RESTART). THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS WARM (AFTER DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED FOR OVER 15MIN). THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS TRAVELLING AT APPROXIMATELY 35-MILES PER HOUR ON A CITY STREET. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND IMMEDIATELY RESTART WITHOUT STOPPING. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IF I WAS ON A POORLY LIT ROAD OR GOING AROUND A CORNER, OR AT A HIGHER SPEED, OR A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER, THIS COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS WAS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TO CHRYSLER AND THYE REPORTED THE PROBLEM 'FIXED' LESS THAN 1-YEAR AGO (REPORTED TO CHRYSLER CORPORATE IN EARLY AUGUST 2017 AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AUGUST 11 2017). THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND VERY LIMITED (LESS THAN ONCE PER MONTH). IT SEEMS MORE FREQUENT IN COLD WEATHER. IT HAS HAPPENED AT OTHER TIMES, OFTEN A MINUTE OR SO AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, WHILE WARMING UP. IT HAS HAPPENED OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING (ABOUT 4-TIMES SINCE PURCHASE IN NOVEMBER 2014), BUT I DO NOT RECALL THE DATES AND TIME.
OIL FILTER HOUSING IS LEAKING OIL BENEATH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD (ENGINE VALLEY). THIS OIL POOLS INTO THIS AREA AND MAY HOLD A QUART OF OIL. VEHICLES FIRES ARE POSSIBLE DUE TO OIL LEAKAGE FROM THE FILTER HOUSING AND POOLING IN THIS AREA. FIRST NOTICED OIL LEAKS ON THE DRIVEWAY. THE OIL APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE ENGINE VALLEY AND LEAKING ONTO THE TRANSMISSION AREA AND THEN THE DRIVEWAY. DEALER STATED THE OIL FILTER HOUSING LEAKING IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 TOWN AND COUNTRY/CARAVAN. THE OIL FILTER HOUSING DEVELOPED A CRACK AND OIL NOW LEAKS ONTO THE ENGINE VALLEY.
A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, THE SRS LIGHT STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY, WHILE DRIVING, WHILE PARKED, WHILE MAKING LEFT-TURNS, WHILE BRAKING, WHILE ACCELERATING, ETC... BECAUSE NO ACCIDENT HAD OCCURRED, I ASSUMED IT WAS FAULTY CONNECTORS THAT MAY HAVE GOTTEN WET, SO I BROUGHT IT INTO AN AUTO SHOP. THEY PULLED THE HISTORICAL CODES, SINCE THE LIGHT WASNT ON AT THE TIME, AND IT SAYS IT IS A DRIVER SIDE BELT TENSIONER ISSUE. I HAVE 68,000 MILES ON OUR VAN SO I HAD HOPED THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM WOULD HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS (MAYBE IT IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY) - ITS NOT. READING ONLINE, IT SEEMS THIS MAY BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH SOME TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VANS, SO I FIGURED I SHOULD REPORT AS WELL.
THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN THOUGH ALL TIRES ARE AIRED TO CORRECT PRESSURE.
*NOTE REPORTING THREE DIFFERENT DISCREPANCIES DATES INCLUDED* AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE, VEHICLE WHICH WAS IN MOTION BEGAN TO STUTTER AND EVENTUALLY STALLED OUT. THE STALL CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE BRAKE FUNCTION AND POWER STEERING. VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED, VEHICLE RESUMED WITH NORMAL FUNCTION AND OPERATION. INCIDENT OCCURRED 12/1/17 WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION BECAME STUCK IN 3RD GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE VEHICLE AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH RPM TO MAINTAIN HIGHWAY SPEED IN ORDER TO EXIT HIGHWAY AT A SAFE LOCATION. AGAIN I PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. INCIDENT OCCURRED 11/24/17 WHILE STATIONARY THE VEHICLES LEFT PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT GO IN TO LOCK POSITION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE CAUSING DOOR TO CYCLE REPEATEDLY. IT IS A NECESSITY TO MANUALLY PUSH THE DOOR CLOSED OR IT WILL CONTINUE THIS CYCLE INDEFINITELY. INCIDENT OCCURS DAILY
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS OUR VAN LOST POWER WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. THE FIST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE GOING 25-30 MPH ON A CITY ROAD. WE LOST ALL POWER, HAD NO POWER STEERING AND JUST HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT AND CONTINUE DRIVING. THE SECOND TIME HAPPENED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY. AFTER MAKING THE TURN THE VAN LOST POWER AND AGAIN WE HAD TO PUT IT INTO PARK, RESTART IT AND ACCELERATE AS TRAFFIC WAS COMING QUICKLY BEHIND US. WE ARE INCREDIBLY THANKFUL THAT OUR FAMILY, OUR CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR BOTH TIMES, WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY OUR VAN LOSING POWER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHETHER OR NOT THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MIDWAY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (219 2ND AVE E, KEARNEY, NE 68847, (888) 655-0410) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $300 DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING LIGHT CAME ON. CHECKED TIRES. ALL WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. LOOKED UP RECALLS AND FOUND RECALLS ON MARCH AND APRIL OF 2014 TOWN AND COUNTRY BUT MY CAR WAS MADE IN JULY OF 2014 SO WAS NOT INCLUDED. I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO FIX IT.. HAVE NOTICED OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAME PROBLEM.

AT LOW SPEED. THE CAR WILL STALL AND DISABLE THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES. THE CAR WILL START BACK AND PERFORM WITH NO ERROR CODES. VERY RISKY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH EARLIER MODULES WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS DUE TO A FAULTY IGNITION. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL SO FAR ON MY 2014, BUT IT IS CURRENTLY A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE WHEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST WHICH IS VIRTUALLY ALL OF THE BRAKES FOR MOST WHO ARE USED TO BRAKE ASSIST WORKING PROPERLY. THEN IT SHOWS NO CODE AFTERWARD.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AFTER 22000 MILES. HORN ALSO QUIT WORKING. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD CLOCK SPRING WAS BROKEN. THEY WANT $800 FOR REPAIR. OTHER YEARS HAD THIS SAME RECALL
DRIVING MY CAR ABOUT 25 MPH ON A CITY STREET AND THE HEAD REST POPPED OUT FOR NO REASON AND HIT THE BACK OF MY HEAD. THIS IS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT IT HAD 80,000 MILES ON THE CAR. I BROUGHT IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.
VEHICLE STALLED WHEN OPERATING ON HIGHWAY. ALL POWER LOST. RESTARTED WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. NO ERROR CODES FROM COMPUTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS LOST POWER. THE CONTACT FLIPPED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH FROM THE AUTOMATIC POSITION TO MANUAL, WHICH CAUSED THE LIGHTS TO RE-ILLUMINATE. ALSO, THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY EVEN IF TURNED OFF MANUALLY. THE DEALER (BRENNEGANS CHRYSLER FORD, 1200 SUPERIOR TOMAH, WI 44660) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET. LOSS OF CONTROL AND NEARLY MISSED COLLISION WITH INANIMATE OBJECT ON SIDE OF ROAD. PARKED AND REMAINED IN DRIVE WITH FOOT ON BREAK CONTINUED TO FAULT PERIODICALLY (CLUNKING NOISE AND RPM DIP). TURNED OFF CAR AND NO ISSUE UPON RESTART, DROVE 5 MINUTES AND ISSUE RE-OCCURRED. HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC WHO DIDN'T NOTE THE ISSUE AT FIRST AS CAR RESUMES NORMAL OPERATION UPON RESTART. NEXT DAY REPORTED TO ME IT WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND A NEW ONE WAS NEEDED. THIS WAS SECOND OCCURRENCE INITIALLY ONE INCIDENT AT 90K MILES. BUT COULDN'T REPRODUCE FAILURE. CONTINUED TO DRIVE UNTIL SECOND MORE EVENT LISTED HERE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT WILL STOP IN MOTION IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET AND ALL THE POWER TO THE ENTIRE CAR WILL GO OUT INCLUDING ALL FLASHERS AND AIRBAG SYSTEMS. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING OUR VEHICLE. THE FAULT IS UNKNOWN WE BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO A CHRYSLER DEALER A WEEK PRIOR TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM AND THEY RAN TESTS AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG THIS NOW HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. WE HAVE THREE CHILDREN 5 AND UNDER THAT HAVE BEEN RIDING IN THIS CAR WHILE THIS HAS HAPPENED AND WE ARE ALL PUT IN GREAT DANGER.
The driver's side sliding passenger door doesn't properly latch in hot weather. Instead of latching, the automatic mechanism continually tries to latch without success. Sometimes driving down the road, the door motor will continue to try to latch the door. Sometimes it will set off the alarm. The door simply will NOT latch in hot weather unless pressure is applied to the back end of the door (nearest the rear driver's side tire) in conjunction with the sound of the actuator trying to latch the door.
WHILE WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WHILE ON DRIVE! WE WERE ON CANAL AND 19 MILE ROAD WITH MY HUSBAND AND 4 KIDS AND THE CAR. THE CAR WAS DRIVING AND IT JUST STOPPED LITERALLY.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL NOT COME ON IN RAIN AS DESIGNED. WHEN OPERATED MANUALLY THEY ONLY WORK IN VERY SLOW MODE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS BOTH IN MOTION AND WHEN STATIONARY. NO WARNING OR CODE FROM THE CARS DASH.
PASSENGER SEAT WHEN ALL THE WAY BACK BY MOTORIZED SWITCH PULL OUT OF SIDE COVER WIRES TO SHORT INSULATION COVER CHEW UP COULD RESULT IN ELECTRICAL FIRE
2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY - 70,000 MILES ELECTRONICS STARTED MALFUNCTIONING WHILE DRIVING SHUTTING OFF ALL INSIDE CABIN ELECTRONICS INCLUDING PANEL, RADIO, A/C AND TURNING ON WINDSHIELD WIPERS. AT FIRST IT DID NOT MALFUNCTION EVERY TIME BUT NOW IT DOESN'T RUN 1 MINUTE WITHOUT MALFUNCTIONING. SOMETIMES MY BRAKE, HEAD AND SIGNAL LIGHTS WILL NOT WORK AND THE COMPLETE PANEL AND GAGES WILL NOT GO BACK UP INCLUDING GAS, SPEED RPM ETC. UNTIL I SHUT DOWN THE CAR AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES TO TURN IT BACK ON MAKING IT COMPLETELY UNSAFE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND AS EXPECTED, AND MENTIONED BY OTHERS ONLINE, THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE IT. THEY STATED THAT MY CAR HAS 9 DIFFERENT COMPUTERS AND THAT THEY ARE READING MALFUNCTIONS ON ALL OF THEM AND DECIDED TO RESET THE MODULE THAT CONTROLS ALL OF THE INTERIOR ELECTRONICS. $100.00+ NOTHING CHANGED APART FROM THE FACT THAT IT IS NOW HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I REFUSE TO GET INTO THE PATH OF SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON THIS REPAIR JUST ON THE GUESSING GAME OF REPLACING PART AFTER PART WITHOUT POSITIVE RESULTS. PLEASE HELP!
I AM WRITING TODAY REGARDING WHAT APPEARS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN REGARDING MY 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. LAST MONDAY (MAY 15, 2017) I WAS DRIVING AND REALIZED THAT NONE OF THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS ON MY VEHICLE WERE WORKING. IT BECAME SCARILY APPARENT WHEN I WENT TO HONK MY HORN AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CONDITION ALSO AFFECTED ALL THE OTHER CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, INCLUDING THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER THAT PROVIDES ME INFORMATION ON ALL THE VITAL STATISTICS OF THE VEHICLE. I USE THIS INFORMATION DAILY TO VERIFY THAT MY VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED AND FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. WITHOUT IT, I DO NOT KNOW IF THERE ARE CONCERNS ABOUT MY VEHICLE'S ROAD WORTHINESS. LACKING JUST THESE TWO ITEMS (NOT TO MENTION LOSING THE OTHER CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL) CAUSED ME SERIOUS CONCERN ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THE HORN. RATHER, I WAS TOLD, THE HORN IS WIRED THROUGH THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND THAT SWITCH HAD FAILED. AFTER AGREEING TO HAVE THAT REPAIR DONE, I WAITED FOR THE WORK TO BE COMPLETED SO I COULD SAFELY DRIVE MY VEHICLE AGAIN. BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. A COUPLE HOURS LATER, I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT IT WASN'T THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH, BUT RATHER, I WAS TOLD, THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A CLOCK SPRING THAT FED POWER TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH THAT PROVIDED POWER TO ACTIVATE THE HORN AND ALL THE OTHER CONTROLS THAT ARE NOT WORKING ON THE STEERING WHEEL. AND BY THE WAY, THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT COVER ANY OF THE COSTS OF THIS SAFETY REPAIR. THIS SOUNDED STRANGE TO ME. HOW COULD SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AND SIMPLE AS A HORN BE SO COMPLEX AND CONVOLUTED? WHY WOULD AN AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURER DESIGN SUCH A SIMPLE AND IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE IN SUCH A WAY THAT EVEN THEIR OWN TECHNICIANS CANNOT ACCURATELY DETERMINE A DIAGNOSIS ON THEIR INITIAL IN-DEPTH EVALUATION?
THE HEADREST DEPLOYED WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. ITS APPARENT IT WAS DEFECTIVE. I CAN SEE BROKEN PIECES INSIDE. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO CHANGE GEAR WHILE IN DRIVE. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAITED FOR A WHILE, AND WAS ABLE TO CHANGE GEARS AND RESUME DRIVING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANDERSON CHRYSLER DEALER (LOCATED ON 5711 E STATE ST ROCKFORD IL, 61108), BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE NO LONGER EQUIPPED TO HANDLE THE FAILURE AND THAT THE INFORMATION WOULD BE SENT TO CHRYSLER ENGINEERS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT, AND THE SENSOR AND TRANSMISSION PUMP WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
IN WARM WEATHER MY DRIVERS SIDE POWER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH- THE MOTOR KEEPS CYCLING. ALSO, WHEN I HIT A BUMP THE CAR WILL CHIME, INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AND THE OPEN DOOR LIGHT WILL ENGAGE AD IF THE DOOR IS OPEN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 YEARS AND I CANNOT FIND A SOLUTION. IT IS ONLY AN ISSUE A WARM WEATHER (ABOVE 70 DEGREES). CHRYLSER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE. I CONDUCTED AN INTERNET AEARCH AND IT APPEARS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM.
BOTH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP KNEW THAT THE COMPUTER MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO KEEP THIS INFORMATION FROM US LEAVING OUR ENTIRE FAMILY AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN DANGER. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY HAD US TAKE THE CAR TO A NUETRAL 3RD PARTY TO DETERMINE THAT THE WRECK I HAD WAS CAUSED BY THE CAR SELF ACCELERATION. THEY CONFIRMED IT DID AND THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS ERRORS THAT WERE NEVER ADDRESSED OR WARNED OF. THE TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND BLEW OUT THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. BOTH TRONCALLI (THE DEALERSHIP) & CHRYSLER REFUSED TO GIVE US THEIR FINDINGS CLAIMING PROPRIETARY INFORMATION AND HUNG UP ON US. THEN WE TRIED TO GO THROUGH MEDIATION, WE WERE TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A WRECK THEY COULD NOT HELP US EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW THAT THE WRECK WAS CAUSED BY THE MALFUNCTION. SO WE HAVE AN UNDRIVEABLE CAR THAT WE ARE PAYING A NOTE AND INSURANCE ON SITTING IN OUR GARAGE. ALL WHILE WE ARE HAVING TO RENT CARS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN HAVING HEALTH ISSUES SINCE SEPT 2016. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE I WAS MAKING A TURN AND I HIT MY NEIGHBOR WHICH WAS PARKED ON THE STREET.
THE TIPM MALFUNCTIONED AND IT CAUSED EXCESSIVE SHAKING THE DEALERSHIP IGNORED OUR CALLS AND THE PROBLEM ESCALATED. THE TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM CAUSED A BLOWOUT AND THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES. WE HAD TAKEN IT IN PREVIOUSLY FOR THE SHAKING AND THEY NEVER TOLD US WHAT CAUSED IT. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP & THEY TOLD US WHEN THE TIPM MALFUNCTIONS THE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR EMULATE WHAT THE COMPUTER SAYS IS WRONG. CHRYSLER KNEW THIS BUT THEY WERE TRYING TO GET IS TO PAY MONEY FOR REPAIRS THEY KNOW WOULD NOT FIX OUR CAR AND THEN THEY SENT THE POLICE OUT TO OUR HOUSE TO GET THEIR LOANER CAR EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD THE AUTO CLAIM NUMBER AND DIRECT BILLING FROM OUR INSURANCE COMPANY. ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS PARKED ON THE STREET AND AS I WAS MAKING THE TURN THE CAR SPED UP ON ITS OWN AND CAUSED ME TO HIT THEIR CAR
DRIVING THE VAN DOWN A STREET AND MOST OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FAILED. WIPERS WENT TO FULL SPEED, EVERY CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. NO STEERING, RADIO DIED, BRAKES DID WORK BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ELECTRICAL. SHUT IT DOWN AND RESTARTED. TOOK IT TO FALLS MOTOR CITY WHO DID NOT FIND ANY FAULTS. SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. BASIC CONCLUSION I WAS NUTS. TOOK THE CAR BACK...THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN TOTAL OF 4 TIMES IN 3 MONTHS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S HOME, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE NOTIFIED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF REPORTS WERE FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL AND POSSIBLY RELATED TO THE BATTERY SINCE THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED OR DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
Passenger side sliding door makes a loud grinding sound when shut. Often times the door won't shut completely. Other times it will not open (i.e. it's stuck shut). In either case it is not safe for the passengers. They could either fall out because the door isn't shut while the vehicle is in operation. They could also need to exit the vehicle quickly due to an accident, but be stuck because the door won't open. This issue has been occurring for at least 4 years. I've been waiting for the manufacture to issue a recall to fix it because my understanding is it is very expensive to fix but am taking it into the dealership next month to get it looked at.
