MY 5.7-LITER HEMI ENGINE HESITATED SIX TIMES AND THE ENGINE COMPUTER REGISTERED THIS MALFUNCTION EACH TIME, BUT NEVER SET A CODE WHICH THE DEALER MECHANICS COULD READ TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. EACH MALFUNCTION CORRECTED ITSELF IN A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE LAST HESITATION WAS A STRONG ONE DURING WHICH THE ENGINE RAN VERY ROUGHLY FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES BEFORE RUNNING SMOOTHLY AGAIN. IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS MISFIRING ON ONE OR MORE CYLINDERS. EACH MALFUNCTION HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PASSING OTHER VEHICLES IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A HIGHWAY WITH THE ENGINE UNDER ACCELERATION LOAD. WHEN I EASED OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE HESITATION DISAPPEARED AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE EACH VEHICLE PASS, BUT EACH PASS THUS TOOK LONGER AND PUT ME MORE AT POTENTIAL RISK OF COLLIDING WITH ONCOMING VEHICLES. THE LAST STRONG HESITATION FORCED ME TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WAIT UNTIL THE ENGINE CORRECTED ITSELF IN ABOUT TWO MINUTES. THIS HESITATION HAPPENS RARELY AND THE ENGINE HAS CONTINUED TO RUN SMOOTHLY SINCE THE LAST STRONG EVENT. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM RESIDES INSIDE THE ENGINE OR WITHIN THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION. I HAVE A SIX-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND CRUISE CONTROL ON THIS CAR.
APPROACHING ONE YEAR SINCE SAFETY RECALL WAS ISSUED CONCERNING PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. DODGE DEALER CONTINUES TO SAY PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME AND CAN NOT PROJECT AS WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER WOULD BE WELCOMED.
REAR CRADLE BUSHING FAILED. RECOGNIZED BY MECHANIC WHO WAS TASKED WITH INSTALLING A LARGER REAR SWAY BAR. OTHER EXAMPLES OF THIS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED ON THE CHALLENGER FORUMS-SOME CATASTROPHIC(THE ENTIRE CRADLE COMING OFF, DESTROYING THE WHOLE UNDERSIDE OF THE BACK HALF OF THE CAR. IT'S DISCONCERTING AS MY CAR WAS NEVER DRIVEN "HARD" OR RECKLESSLY. IT HAS 45,000 MILES ON IT IN 5 YEARS AND IS A DAILY DRIVER. I HOPE OTHERS COME FORWARD, BUT, THE CRADLE BUSHINGS SHOULD BE PART OF EVERY INSPECTION WHEN SERVICING THE CAR.
MY SON WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD IN THE CITY GOING STRAIT AHEAD AND NOTICED THE BATTERY LIGHT HAD COME ON, VERY QUICKLY HE THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR, UNDER THE HOOD. FORTUNATELY HE WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY EXIT THE ROADWAY AND GET INTO A PARKING LOT. HE OPENED THE HOOD AND MORE SMOKE CAME OUT. HE CALLED ME (HIS FATHER) AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. I ASKED IF IT WAS ON FIRE AND CAUTIONED HIM TO GET BACK AND TO LET IT COOL DOWN. HE LET IT COOL DOWN AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR. THE CAR HAD NO ELECTRICAL POWER AT THIS TIME. DOOR LOCKS AND TRUNK LATCH WOULD NOT FUNCTION. AFTER PUTTING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND REALIZING THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD HE ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RELEASE THE KEY, THEREFORE HE WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE CAR UNATTENDED AND EVENTUALLY TOWED FOR SERVICE. I HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS SITUATION GIVEN THAT IF HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EXIT QUICKLY THE CAR COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE OR COMPLETELY LOST POWER/CONTROL WHILE HE WAS STUCK IN THE ROADWAY. APPARENTLY THE CAR ALTERNATOR GOT HOT ENOUGH TO DESTROY IT AND THE BATTERY. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM AND SUBSEQUENT RECALL OF LATER YEAR MODELS OF THIS EXACT SAME ALTERNATOR WITH A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT ENGINE MODEL(NHTSA 14V-634) RECALL NUMBER P-60 ALTERNATOR. I HAVE CALLED DODGE/CHRYSLER AND FILED REPORTS/COMPLAINTS WITH THEM. I HAVE ATTACHED REPAIR INVOICE CONFIRMING THE ISSUE EXPLAINED. I WAS GOING DOWN I-81 NORTH AT 11:30 PM TEMP WAS 43 AND DRY I HAD THE CRUISE SET AT 70 MPH AND THE CAR WAS SHAKING REAL BAD IT STARTED JUMPING AND THEN THE CAR REVVED TO 5000 RPM AND STOPPED PULLING I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO TRY TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE GARDRAIL AT THE 124.7 MM AND SIT THERE THE CAR WOULD NOT SIT IN PARK IT WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS SO I APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE UNTIL WRECKER ARRIVED ,I HAVE GOTTEN MY CAR ASSESSED AT BERGLUND DODGE IN ROANOKE VA THE PROBLEM WAS THE PINION NUT HAS BACKED OFF AND BECAUSE OF THE RATE OF SPEED THE PINION YOKE HAS BEEN DESTROYED .IT IS GOING TO BE A 650.00 REPAIR I CALLED DODGE AND THE WARRANTY RAN OUT ON MY CAR ON JUNE 22,2015 THIS CAR ONLY HAS 31,152 MILES ON IT AND THOUGHT THEY MAY FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL RECALLS ABOUT THE PINION NUTS BACKING OFF THE CAR HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN BECAUSE OF THE SHORTAGE OF THE AIR BAGS NOT AVAILABLE TO BE REPLACED AND I'M SOMEWHAT SCARED TO DRIVE IT AND THE THOUGHTS OF BEING HIT ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WAS SOME UNEASY.

RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 8/3/15. RETURNED REPLY CARD PROMPTLY. NO RESPONSE FROM FCA , OVER THREE MONTHS LATER. WEBSITE INDICATES PARTS AVAILABLE. RECALL R37, TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATOR ISSUE. ".....SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH" INDICATED AS POSSIBLE OUTCOME. CALLED FCA WHO, AFTER A LENGTHY DELAY, TELLS ME A LOCAL DEALER HAS PARTS(!) AND I SHOULD CONTACT THEM. HAD I SAID NOTHING, ANOTHER THREE MONTHS WOULD HAVE ELAPSED.
I HAVE CALLED MY DEALER SOUTH POINTE CHRYSLER DODGE IN TULSA OKLAHOMA WEEKLY FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. EVERY TIME I CALL THEY TELL ME THE SAME THING. "THEY ARE WAITING ON YOU TO SEND AN APPROVAL FOR IT TO BE COMPLETED". THEY SAY THEY HAVE SUBMITTED THE PAPER WORK TO YOU. IF THIS IS IN FACT A SAFETY ISSUE COULD YOU PLEASE APPROVE SO I CAN GET THIS FIXED. I HAVE A WEEKLY CALL LOG OF THE TIME AND DATE I HAVE CALLED MY DEALER. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE GET THIS TAKE CARE OF? I RECEIVED A LETTER OF RECALL FOR A PART IN THE AIR BAG. THE RECALL LETTER SAID THAT THE BAG COULD EXPLODE OR HAVE METAL FRAGMENTS FLY OUT IF MOISTURE GETS IN THE AIRBAG. THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I CALLED ABOUT MY RECALL AND THE RECALL CENTER TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE PART BY OCTOBER TO FIX MY AIRBAG. I CALLED OCTOBER 12 AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WERE GOING TO GET THE PART. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE MY CAR ALL AROUND IF IT CAN EXPLODE AT ANY TIME AND I COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIE.
I WAS SOLD THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP WITH AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE WIRELESS IGNITION, IT WAS NOT BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION AND I ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT IT DUE TO ME TRYING TO GET HELP FOR THE OTHER RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG. I HAVE BASICALLY BEEN TOLD MY LIFE DOES NOT MATTER, I AM EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS CAR UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE EVEN THOUGH IT HAS 2 SERIOUS SAFETY RECALLS THAT HAS ALREADY CAUSED DEATH AND SERIOUS INJURY.

IT'S HAPPENED 7-9TIMES, 3X W 5 PASSENGERS. AVE 1/10K MILES. NO COMMON FACTOR (SLOW, FAST, RAPID DOWNSHIFT, CORNERING, STRAIGHT, SIDE STREETS, COUNTRY RDS, HIGHWAYS, PARKING LOTS). FOOT MAY HAVE BEEN ON BRAKE DURING ALL. DEALERSHIP FOUND NOTHING WRONG/NO ERROR CODES. CLEANED THROTTLE BODY & THEY SENT AWAY. NEXT TIME THROTTLE BODY VERIFIED CLEAN. JULY 2012 DEALERSHIP SAID NO FLASH TO FIX. I TOLD THEM HOW DANGEROUS IT IS. THEY GAVE ME A CHRYSLER CARE NUMBER TO FILE A COMPLAINT/GET A CASE STARTED ON IT. THEY WANTED SRT SPECIALISTS IN THE LOOP. OTHER ELECTRICAL BUGS- NOT RECOGNIZING THE FOBS. FOB HAS BEEN LOCKED IN THE CAR TWICE. SIGNAL DROPS OUT WHILE DRIVING & ERROR 'KEY FOB NOT DETECTED' FLASHES UNDER THE SPEEDOMETER (PIC TAKEN AT 70MPH ON 6/8/15). SUMMER/FALL 2014, AFTER ~4 SHUTDOWNS AT LOW SPEEDS, STARTED HAPPENING AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 45. DANGEROUS! IT DIED GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH A BUSY HIGHWAY INTERSECTION AT 45 MPH AT RUSH HOUR-NEARLY REAR-ENDED. THEN IT SHUTOFF WHILE MAKING A SHARP FAST TURN AT A BLIND CORNER; THIS TIME I ALMOST SLAMMED INTO THE EMBANKMENT. I KNEW I HAD TO GET IT ADDRESSED BEFORE IT KILLS ME. 1ST CHRYSLER CLAIM 23728724 ADDRESSED 9/2014 BY REPLACING PCM. LOST COMMUNICATION W PCM CODES FOUND. 2015 SPRING, SHUT-DOWN STARTS AGAIN. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP IN MERRITT ISLAND, FL ~9/8/15. PLEASE CHECK FOR CODES, THE CAR WAS SHUTTING DOWN AGAIN. DENIED. TOLD TO RETURN TO DEALERSHIP THAT WORKED IT 1ST TIME. 3RD TIME 9/25/15, 3 SENIOR ENGINEER PASSENGERS WHEN IT DIED DURING RAPID DOWNSHIFT TURNING EVENT. DURING RE-INITIALIZATION, CAR ABRUPTLY JERKED- PASSENGERS SCARED; INCHES FROM SERIOUS ACCIDENT -SLAMMING INTO A WORK TRUCK & NEARLY REAR-ENDED. 2ND CLAIM 27895859 IN WORK UNKNOWN
CAR TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING FOR THE 9TH TIME. RAPID AUTOMATIC DOWN SHIFT OF GEARS WHILE TURNING LEFT THEN TO RIGHT. GREEN LIGHT, APROX 45 MPH, TAKING LEFT TURN. WRONG WAY. HIT BRAKES HARD, TURNED WHEEL TO RIGHT. CAR DIED AFTER WHEEL BEGAN TURNING TO RIGHT/DURING TURN. LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. VERY DIFFICULT TO: TURN, STOP, AND RESTART. VEHICLE DID NOT STORE ANY CODES. DODGE/CHRYSLER SAYS THIS IS "NOT SERIOUS" BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES SAVED IN THE CAR AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO LOOK INVESTIGATE FURTHER BECAUSE THERE ARE NO CODES AND IT DIDN'T DIE ON THEIR TEST DRIVE WHILE HOOKED TO THEIR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V200000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 128,003.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DIODE IN THE ALTERNATOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER RT WILL STALL WHEN MAKING A SLOW RIGHT HAND TURN, WHICH IN TURN THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST THREE YEARS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM PER THE ONLINE CHALLENGER BLOGS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED CALLING THE MANUFACTURER. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AS THE DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS.

I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT IN BETWEEN ME RELEASING THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATING MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND MY ENGINE STOPPED. THE CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND THE BRAKES WERE DIFFICULT TO USE. THE A/C AND RADIO WERE STILL FUNCTIONAL. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NO CODES WERE FOUND ON ALL OCCASIONS. IT WAS OBSERVED THAT A GAS SMELL WAS NOTICED WHILE IN MY CAR WHEN PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND THREW OUT MY VEHICLE CABIN. AFTER A DAY OR SO I CALLED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AND REQUESTED TO BRING IT IN DUE TO A STRONG GAS VAPOR SMELL COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. THEY SAY IT IS NOT A PROBLEM. HAD MY FUEL SYSTEM REPLACED AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I FEEL I AM DRIVING A CAR BOMB AND AM JUST WAITING FOR IT TO EXPLODE. WHILE IN THE EMERGENCY LANE PUT THE CAR IN PARK TURNED OFF THEIR IGNITION, TURNED ON THE IGNITION PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE, PUT IT BACK IN PARK TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AGAIN, STARTED IT AGAIN PUT IN DRIVE. BUT STILL KEPT STALING HAD TO HAVE IT PUT ON A TRAILER AND HAULED BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY STILL COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT .
