THE REAR SENSOR BEEPS NON STOP EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NOTHING BEHIND IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IT EVEN THOUGH I SENT THEM A VIDEO TO SHOW THEM WHAT I HAD BEEN DEALING WITH. I HAVE ALSO BEEN DEALING WITH THE KEY FOB, EVERY TIME I GO TO LOCK MY CAR IT BEEPS ONCE TO LOCK AND AFTER THE FIRST BEEP IT BEEPS 3 TIMES AND THEN UNLOCKS MY CAR. WHEN THE CAR IS ON AND I GO TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, EVEN WITH THE KEY IN THE CAR, THE CAR BEEPS AND TELLS ME THE KEY FOB IS NOT IN THE VEHICLE. THE RACE TRACK LIGHT WAS BEGINNING TO FOG UP AND WITH TIME WE STARTED TO NOTICE THAT IT WAS FILLING UP WITH MOISTURE. IT FILLED UP TO ABOUT AND 1" AND WE MANAGED TO RELEASE THE WATER BUT PART OF THE RACE TRACK LIGHT IS BURNED OUT NOW. I STILL HAVE THE WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER SAID THAT THOSE LIGHTS ARE NOT COVERED AND THE PRICING WOULD RANGE FROM $1000-$1200 TO FIX.
WATER AND CONDENSATION IS TRAPPED INSIDE THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS. I THINK THE NAME OF THIS IS CALLED "RACE TRACK" TAIL LIGHTS. WATER IS STUCK IN THERE AND HAS BURNT OUT ONE SIDE OF MY LED LIGHT. IT JUST SLOSHES AROUND WITH NO WAY TO ESCAPE. THE OTHER SIDE IS SUBMERGED TOO BUT HASN'T YET BURNED OUT. THE ENTIRE PIECE HAS TO BE REPLACED AND ITS VERY EXPENSIVE. THE PART IS ON "NATIONAL BACK ORDER". I'M SURE IT WONT PASS INSPECTION AND I COULD GET A TICKET FOR IT. MY DURANGO IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY MORE AS I JUST HIT THE 3 YEAR MARK AND I AM SICKENED THAT THIS PART IS OVER $1000. I WISH THIS WOULD BE A RECALL FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT.
WATER POOLING IN REAR TAIL LIGHT CAUSING LED TO BURN OUT. VERTICAL LINE CRACK IN CENTER OF REAR LED ASSEMBLY.
PULLED INTO DRIVEWAY AND PUT CAR IN PARK TO GET OUT TO GRAB THE MAIL. UPONRETRIEVING THE MAIL, I TURNED AROUND TO WITNESS THE VEHICLE ROLLING ON MY DRIVEWAY AND CRASHING THROUGH A CLOSE GARAGE DOOR. THE VEHICLE APPARENTLY JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AS IT WAS NOT MOVING WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND WALKED TOWARDS THE MAILBOX
THE WATER PUMP BLEW AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WAS VERY LOUD WHEN WE STARTED IT, TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO OUR MECHANIC.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL FREQUENTLY ILLUMINATE AND DISABLE SEAT BELT TENSIONERS AND AIRBAG FUNCTION. SAME THING THAT IS UNDER RECALL WITH OTHER DURANGO VEHICLES (RECALL P67). DODGE CLAIMS MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE IS UNAFFECTED AND NOT UNDER RECALL BUT I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE SINCE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE IS OCCURRING. ANY GRAND CHEROKEE MODEL MADE THE SAME DAY AS MY VEHICLE, OR THE EXACT SAME DURANGO IF MANUFACTORED TWO MONTHS LATER, IS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, BUT THEY CLAIM MY DURANGO IS NOT. THE GRAND CHEROKEE USING THE IDENTICAL MODULE IN THEIR VEHICLE. PART TO BE FAULTY HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE THE ORC MODULE (OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL) BY A LOCAL SHOP, SAME PROBLEM AS SIMILAR RECALLS YET THEY CLAIM MINE IS NOT A PART OF. WITH CURRENT SITUATION, DRIVING THE VEHICLE SAFELY IS NON EXISTENT UNTIL REPAIRED. AIRBAG AND SEATBELT MALFUNCTION WOULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR.
WATER AND/OR CONDENSATION IN REAR LIFT GATE TAILLIGHT IS CAUSING THE LED LIGHT TO START BURNING OUT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS GLITCH AS I HAVE SEEN THIS IN SEVERAL OTHER DURANGO'S ON THE ROAD, AND A FEW OF THE NEWER STYLE CHARGERS (SAME EXACT BURNING OUT LOCATION). WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE ORDERED THE REPLACEMENT PART (EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE AND WILL FIGHT WITH CHRYSLER ON THIS DEFECT) AS FROM A MILEAGE STANDPOINT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY, AND WILL ATTEMPT FURTHER REIMBURSEMENT FOR THESE EXPENSES, HOWEVER THE PART WAS ORDERED BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF MARCH 2017, AND IS STILL ON BACK ORDER AS OF 4/26/17 WITH NO RELEASE DATE. THIS SORT OF BACK ORDER TELLS ME THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY DON'T HAVE THE SUPPLY FOR ALL THE OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE GAS STATION, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD REST AIR BAG DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,900.
ON 3/6/17 THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT ACTIVE HEAD REST DEPLOYED WITHOUT CAUSE OR CRASH. WHEN DRIVING IN NORMAL CONDITIONS THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD REST TETHERED TO THE SEAT SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY DEPLOYED CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE HEAD REST. ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THIS AND OR FIND THE CAUSE AT THE DODGE AUTONATION DEALER LOCATED AT 21027 I-45 NORTH, SPRING, TX 77388 (877-791-6569) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED MET WITH A DECLINED REPAIR DUE TO THE DAMAGE WAS LISTED AS "TRIM". AT THE TIME THE AHR DEPLOYED A PASSENGER WAS IN THE SEAT AT THE TIME BUT WAS NOT INJURED DUE TO THE "TETHERS" HELD THE FRONT FACE OF THE HEAD REST FROM PROJECTING OUTWARD/FORWARD. I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AT THE DODGE DEALER FRANKIE FREEZE THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND HE HAS PERSONALLY SEEN THIS TYPE OF DEPLOYMENT WITHOUT CAUSE. IN THE SERVICE MANUAL IN THE EVENT THE AHR DEPLOYS THERE IS A "RESET" PROCESS. DUE TO THE HIGH VELOCITY OF THE HEAD REST DEPLOYMENT THE UNIT ITSELF WAS DAMAGED TO INCLUDE THE HEAD REST COVER AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE "RESET". NO VISIBLE DAMAGE IS APPARENT TO THE VEHICLE ITSELF (CRASH), AND NO VISIBLE CODES OR WARNING LIGHT (I.E. AIRBAG LIGHT) ARE DISPLAYED. AT THIS TIME I HAVE DISPUTED THE CLAIM BY DODGE THAT THIS IS A "TRIM" ISSUE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN NOT DETERMINE WHY THE HEAD REST DEPLOYED AND REFERRED THE ISSUE AND DEPLOYMENT TO A INVESTIGATOR. I SUSPECT BUT HAVE NO EVIDENCE OF THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE HEAD REST WAS CAUSED BY THE RIGHT REAR REAR PASSENGER OPENING THE FACTORY INSTALLED VIDEO SYSTEM INSTALLED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT (REAR ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM). IT IS POSSIBLE THE BACK OF THE FLIP OPEN MONITOR PLASTIC SHROUD STRUCK THE BACK OF THE HEAD REST WHEN OPENED CAUSING IT TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION IN NORMAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AT NIGHT WITH LITTLE TO NO LIGHTING IN THE VEHICLE. A DISTINCT AND LOUD POP WAS HEARD FROM THE SEAT.
CENTER REAR TAILLAMP ON TAILGATE IS GETTING WATER INSIDE OF IT THAT PUDDLES AND COLLECTS IN BOTTOM OF ASSEMBLE. CONCERNED THAT LED UNITS IN THE LAMP MAY SHORT OUT.
THE REAR CENTER TAIL LIGHT (RACETRACK) IS COLLECTING WATER WHICH CAUSED THE LED'S IN THE BOTTOM CORNERS TO STOP WORKING.
TAIL LIGHT AND CENTER LIFT GATE LIGHTS ARE POOLING WITH WATER AND CAUSING DARK SPOTS IN THE TRACK LIGHTING AND OTHER LIGHTS TO FAIL. THERE HAS BEEN NO DAMAGE TO THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS THE FACTORY LIGHT ASSEMBLIES AND THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING WITH THE 2014 AND 2015 DODGE DURANGO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING AND SHIFT TO PARK WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SLOWED INDEPENDENTLY AND STALLED. THERE WAS ALSO AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR PRESENT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE FOR TEN MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
IT STARTED BLACKING OUT THE SWING I WOULD HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR FOR IT TO TURN BACK ON NEXT THING YOU KNOW MY SCREEN SHUT OFF FOR GOOD I'M NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE AIR ON MY ABLE TO PUT MUSIC I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ANYTHING BECAUSE THAT SCREEN IS TOUCH SCREEN AND IT'S NOT MANUAL
REAR TRACK LIGHT HAS MOISTURE INSIDE AND A PORTION OF THE LIGHTS ARE BURNING OUT LEAVING DARK AREAS.
VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS AFTER BEING PLACED IN PARK, WITH IGNITION OFF, ON SMALL SLOPED DRIVEWAY MULTIPLE TIMES.
REAR TAIL LIGHT FAILURE WITH LOW MILEAGE ON VEHICLE. RUNNING AND BRAKE LIGHTS STOP WORKING. LIKELY DUE TO WATER INTRUSION CAUSING SHORT IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
WATER IN REAR LIFT GATE LIGHT RAIL. CAUSED LED LIGHTS TO BURN OUT. AFTER READING THE FORUMS IT APPEARS THERE COULD BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. I HAVE ATTACHED PHOTOS OF THE LIGHT RAIL WITH WATER IN IT
MY BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD AFTER SITTING FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. AFTER STARTING IT GOES BACK DOWN. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THE FOUND A SMALL VACUUM LEAK FROM THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THEY SAID IT WAS AN ACCEPTABLE LEAK. IS THIS TRUE? OR SHOULD THERE BE NO VACUUM LEAK AT ALL? I WANT TO MAKE SURE MY CAR IS SAFE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I SHOULD BRING IT BACK TO DEALER AND HAVE THEM REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THANKS
THE LIGHT ON THE LIFTGATE COLLECTS WATER WHILE RAINING. THE WATER STAYS INSIDE THE LIGHT AND HAS MADE THE LED LIGHTS GO OUT WHERE THE WATER WAS COLLECTED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. THE LIGHT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER WHERE PURCHASED AND WITHIN ONE YEAR IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE PART IS CLOSE TO $1000 AND FROM WHAT I CAN TELL IT WILL JUST HAPPEN AGAIN. THE DESIGN IS FLAWED AND REALLY NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I HAVE NOTICED MULTIPLE OTHER VEHICLES IDENTICAL TO MINE WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. WHILE SEARCHING FOR OTHERS WHO MAY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN SEARCH OF A FIX I HAVE REALIZED THERE IS SO MANY OTHERS WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO REALIZED THERE IS NO FIX. ANYONE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE LIGHT ENDS UP HAVING THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS FAIR TO THE CONSUMER TO HAVE TO SPEND CLOSE TO $1000 EVERY YEAR TO HAVE A WORKING LIGHT ON THE BACK OF THE CAR. I AM SUBMITTING THIS IN HOPES SOMETHING WILL BE DONE TO FIX THE DESIGN FLAW. THIS ISSUE IS ON MY 2014 DODGE DURANGO R/T WHICH I BOUGHT BRAND NEW. LIKE I SAID I HAVE REPLACED THE LIGHT ONCE ALREADY AND I DO NOT FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP PAYING TO KEEP A WORKING LIGHT.

THERE WAS NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AFTER PARKING IN MY DRIVEWAY WHICH IS ON A VERY SLIGHT ANGLE TO THE STREET, I WENT INSIDE AND SAT DOWN. A FEW MINUTES LATER, MY NEIGHBOR CAME TO THE DOOR AND TOLD ME MY CAR WAS IN THE STREET. IT HAD ROLLED BACK ABOUT 50 FEET . THE VEHICLE WAS STILL LOCKED AND SHOWED IT WAS IN PARK. THANK GOD THERE WERE NO INJURIES.
PUSH THE GAS PETAL AND WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE, ENGINE LIGHT ON. WAS STATIONARY
FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS FAILED AT ONLY 38,000 MILES. IN ADDITION, ALL FOUR TIRES EXPERIENCED PREMATURE TIRE WEAR DUE TO THIS CONDITION, AS THE TIRES WERE ROTATED ON A REGULAR BASIS.
NOTICED OIL LEAK UNDER VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, DISCOVERED IT WAS THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. TOOK TO DEALER WHO QUOTED $474.70 FOR REPAIR. VEHICLE HAD 47,XXX MILES AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE COULD NOT STATE WHY IT WASN'T COVERED OTHER THAN IT WAS OUTSIDE THE 3YR/36,000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER. MECHANIC DID NOT SPECIFY THAT PART WAS DAMAGED FROM OIL CHANGES. JUST STATED CRACKS WERE FOUND IN THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. SERVICE BULLETIN SB-10058301-5939 DATED AUGUST 7, 2015 SHOWS THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE. ADDITIONAL SB-10080203-2280 DATED JUNE 15, 2016 PROVES THAT FCA KNOWS THERE ARE NUMEROUS ISSUES AND WANT ENGINEERS TO BE CALLED. IT IS COMMON TO ALL 2014 3.6L PENTASTAR OIL FILTER HOUSINGS AFTER THE APPARENT DESIGN CHANGE FROM METAL TO PLASTIC. FCA AGREED TO RECOUP 50% OF THE COST AFTER THEY COULDN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IT'S A WELL KNOWN ISSUE ACROSS THE NUMEROUS FORUMS OUT THERE. OIL DRAINING DOWN BACK OF MOTOR OVER TRANSMISSION BELLHOUSING COULD BE HAZARDOUS AS A FIRE COULD BE STARTED DUE TO PROXIMITY TO EXHAUST SYSTEM.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2016. THE A/C WHEN TURNED ON BLOWS HOT AIR. AFTER I START THE VEHICLE AND LET IT RUN A MINUTE THE AIR IS WARM. IF I HAVE BEEN IN MOTION FOR 5 MINUTES OR MORE THE AIR IS HOT AS IF THE HEATER IS ON. NO ISSUES CAN BE FOUND AS FAR AS LEAKS OR ANYTHING ELSE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE PURCHASE. THE A/C WAS NOT USED IN OCTOBER SINCE IT IS HOT BUT WHEN I USE THE REMOTE START THE AIR WILL TURN ON BUT NEVER GETS COLD.
THE VEHICLE PUT ITSELF IN REVERSE AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE AT HOME IN THE DRIVEWAY AND ANOTHER IN A TARGET PARKING LOT. I NOTICED THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE AFTER REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND WAS ABLE TO AVOID AND INCIDENT. MY CHILDREN PLAY OUTSIDE IN THE DRIVEWAY WHICH MAKES THIS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF I AM NOT ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN TIME. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO A DEALERSHIP AND THE TECH SAW THE TRUCK JUMP INTO GEAR WHILE IT WAS SITTING IDLE BUT SINCE THE "FLIGHT RECORDER" WAS NOT HOOKED UP, THEY DECIDED NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AFTER IT COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AGAIN. THE DEALER THEN DENIED MY SECOND REQUEST TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE "LOANER VEHICLE POLICY". THIS VEHICLE HAS A MANUFACTURER BUYBACK ALSO THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME ON THE DATE OF PURCHASE.
ELECTRONIC SHIFTER/ PLACED IN PARK WHILE ENGINE WAS ON / WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY OF OUR HOME AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AUTOMATICALLY MOVED FORWARD AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO VEHICLE AND GARAGE. ( WAS REPORTED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY/ ADJUSTER HAS COMPLETED THE DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLE AND HOME).
FIRST ISSUE IS SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING THE CAR APPEARS TO BE ACCELERATING AND THE SPEED MPH GAUGE WILL GO UP BUT THE CAR IS ACTUALLY NOT GOING PAST A CERTAIN SPEED AND IS STUCK IN SECOND GEAR. SECOND SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING THE CAR FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED ON THEIR OWN THIRD IF THE PASSENGER DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING THE PROMPT 'THE FOB HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE' APPEARS WHEN YOU START DRIVING. BATTERY IN THE FOB HAS BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES FOURTH THE AC AND HEATER DO NOT WORK JUST CIRCULATES AIR. NEVER EVER WORKED!!! THOUGHT I WAS MAYBE USING THE WRONG CONTROLS BUT I'VE READ THAT MANUAL A MILLION TIMES AND IT'S NOT HUMAN ERROR
I STOPPED A THE LIGHT WITH NO ISSUE AND ONCE TRAFFIC BEGIN TO MOVE THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME PLACED THEIR FOOT ON BRAKES AT ABOUT 20-25. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NEXT BLOCK AND I DID AS WELL BUT THE BRAKES DID NOTHING BUT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. MY FOOT IS ALL THE WAY DOWN AND STILL NO STOPPING. I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND AS SHE MOVED TO THE LEFT MY TRUCK WAS STILL IN MOTION AND ENDED UP HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER AS WELL WHICH IS WHAT ACTUALLY STOPPED MY TRUCK. THE AIRBAGS ALSO NEVER DEPLOYED IN THE TRUCK. THE WERE THANKFULLY NO PHYSICAL INJURIES BUT DAMAGE TO THE CARS I HIT AS WELL AS MY OWN. THIS WAS A MECHANICAL FAILURE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY HAD I BEEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHERE I WAS INDEED HEADED.
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE IN MY GARAGE, I NEEDED TO GO BACK INTO THE HOUSE TO GET SOMETHING. I SHIFTED THE CAR TO PARK TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL RUNNING. WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE THE CAR PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARDS OUT OF THE GARAGE. THE GARAGE IS ON LEVEL GROUND. I ATTEMPTED TO GET BACK INTO THE CAR TO PRESS THE BRAKE. I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, AND WAS DRAGGED OUT OF THE GARAGE. AFTER BEING DRAGGED THROUGH THE GARAGE I ENDED UP PARTIALLY UNDER THE CAR, I LET GO OF THE CAR AND ROLLED AWAY NOT TO BE RAN OVER BY THE STILL MOVING CAR. I THEN GOT UP AND RAN AFTER THE CAR THAT WAS GOING DOWN MY DECLINE DRIVEWAY. WHEN I GOT INTO THE MOVING CAR I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED THE CAR FROM "DRIVE" TO "PARK". THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE DONE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE CAR. THE GARAGE DOOR/FRAME WAS DAMAGED AS WELL. I HAD INJURIES THAT REQUIRED AN AMBULANCE.
THREE TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PLACED IN PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY AND HAS POPPED OUT OF GEAR SENDING THE VEHICLE DOWN MY DRIVEWAY. LAST NIGHT 9/5/16 @ 10PM THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OUT OF THE GARAGE, PUT IN PARK AND LEFT RUNNING WHILE I CHANGED LIGHT BULBS ON MY GARAGE DOOR OPENER. THE VEHICLE MADE IT DOWN MY DRIVEWAY, ACROSS MY STREET AND STARTED DOWN A HILL TOWARDS AN INTERSECTION BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO JUMP IN THE CAR (WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A HILL WITH SOME SPEED) AND LAY ON THE BRAKES. IF SOMEONE WAS BEHIND THE VEHICLE THEY WOULD BE DEAD. IF ANOTHER CAR WAS TRAVELING ON MY STREET THERE WOULD OF BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. IF I DIDN'T STOP THE VEHICLE IN TIME IT WOULD OF WENT THROUGH A HOME. CALLED DODGE THIS MORNING AND THEY DON'T SEEM REAL CONCERNED ABOUT IT.
THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO. I WAS AT THE POST OFFICE DROPPING OFF MAIL OUTSIDE IN THE MAILBOX IN MY CAR. I DROPPED A PIECE OF MAIL ON THE GROUND. I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND GOT OUT OF MY CAR. MY CAR BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD, I WAS ABLE TO GET IN AND PLACE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. MY DOOR HIT THE MAILBOX. LATER I WENT TO THE DEALER TO GET A QUOTE TO FIX MY DOOR AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THEY SAID I MUST HAVE NEVER PUT IT IN PARK. THEY WANTED $1000 TO FIX A LITTLE SCRATCH AND DENT ON THE DOOR. I DECIDE NOT TO FIX IT. TODAY I NOTICED THE POSSIBLE RECALL, THOUGHT I SHOULD MENTION THIS. I'M NOT LOOKING FOR A RESPONSE. THAN YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT MECHANISM ACTIVATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT CITY STREET. THERE WAS NO IMPACT/COLLISION INVOLVED. VEHICLE ONLY HAD DRIVER AT THE TIME SO NO PASSENGER WAS INJURED HOWEVER THE EVENT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DRIVER DISTRACTION AND COULD HAVE LED TO A COLLISION. IF A PASSENGER WAS PRESENT, SERIOUS HEAD, NECK, AND/OR UPPER BACK INJURY COULD HAVE OCCURRED. VEHICLE WAS TAKING TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. DEALERSHIP NOTED THAT BOTH RETAINING BRACKETS WERE BROKEN. CHRYSLER IS PAYING FOR THE REPAIR. THIS COMPLAINT IS FOR NOTIFICATION TO THE NHTSA FOR FOLLOW-UP INVESTIGATION TO ENSURE THIS IS NOT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SAFETY ISSUE FOR OTHER DRIVERS.

I DROVE INTO A STORE PARKING LOT, PUT MY DURANGO IN PARK, THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING AS MY ELDERLY FATHER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AND MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK. WHEN EXITING THE STORE AFTER LESS THAN 3 MINUTES IN THERE, I NOTICED MY DURANGO WAS NOW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT AND MY FATHER WAS IN THE DRIVERS SIDE. UPON APPROACHING THE VEHICLE, MY FATHER TOLD ME THAT THE DURANGO STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. THE DURANGO WAS CLEARLY IN THE 'PARKED' POSITION WITH THE "P" LIT UP ON THE DIAL. THE DURANGO HAD MOVED A GOOD 6-10 FEET BEFORE MY FATHER WAS ABLE TO JUMP TO THE OTHER SIDE AND STOP IT BY PRESSING THE BREAK. UPON RETURNING HOME I CHECKED ONLINE FOR OTHER COMPLAINTS SUCH AS THIS AND FOUND THAT THE NHTSA WAS INVESTIGATING CLAIMS OF THIS SAME THING HAPPENING IN 2014 DURANGO'S. THIS MORNING I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE 2014 DURANGO'S (ONLY OTHER DODGE VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM) HE ADVISED ME THAT THE COULD TAKE A LOOK AT IT BUT THAT THERE WAS NO 'FIX' FOR IT. SO I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7-15-16 FOR THEM TO 'LOOK' AT IT. AT THIS POINT I FEEL THAT I HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT!

THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT AND THE CENTER TAIL LIGHT (MOUNTED ON TAILGATE) FILL WITH WATER. THIS RESULTS IN THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT OFTEN NOT WORKING. THE CENTER TAIL LIGHT IS OCCASIONALLY TOTALLY INOPERABLE AND NOW HAS LEDS PERMANENTLY BURNED OUT IN THE LOWER PORTION. NEITHER TAIL LIGHT FIXTURE HAS EVER BEEN DAMAGED AND THE PROBLEM WITH EACH ONE APPEARS TO BE THE RESULT OF MANUFACTURING (OR DESIGN) DEFECTS.
WE HAVE HAD AT LEAST THREE INSTANCES WHERE THE DURANGO HAS ROLLED WHILE PARKED AND TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK. ONLY LUCK THAN NO ONE WAS INJURED. IN EACH INSTANCE IT WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY, PARKED. WHILE UNATTENDED, THE VEHICLE WOULD ROLL DOWN THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET, THERE IS A SLIGHT GRADE IN OUR DRIVEWAY TOWARDS THE STREET.
OUR DURANGO WILL JUST COMPLETELY GO HAYWIRE (DISPLAY SCREEN, LIGHTS - INTERIOR, DASH, AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS, THE 3RD ROW HEAD RESTS WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO DOWN, DOORS LOCK/UNLOCK) AND SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION. ALL POWER GOES OUT AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO REGAIN CONTROL.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON SHOWING CODE P0430. THIS CODE SHOWS BANK 2 CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER CHANGED AND SHORT TIME LATER THE CODE SHOWED UP AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE MAINTENANCE SHOP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE VALVE SEALS ARE LEAKING OIL INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. ALSO WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THE VEHICLE POURS OUT BLUE SMOKE WHICH IS OIL BURNING. MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE.
ON THE REAR CENTER LIGHT AKA"RACE TRACK LIGHT". THE LIGHT GETS WATER INTO IT AND BURNS OUT THE LEDS. THIS HAPPENS WHENEVER YOU DRIVE IN THE RAIN OR GET A CAR WASH. THERE IS NO RECALLS ON THIS AND MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A LEFT LEG INJURY THAT REQUIRED IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE IMPOUND LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.

WIPERS WON'T SHUT OFF, NO TURN SIGNALS, BLIND SPOT MONITOR NOT WORKING, HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING, WINDSHIELD WASHERS NOT WORKING, ALL STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS, LEVERS NOT OPERATING, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. WORRIED THAT STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG IS ALSO INOPERABLE. THIS HAPPENED AFTER DRIVING A FULLY FUNCTIONING TRUCK, PARKED IT AND SHUT IT OFF. 10 MINUTES LATER STARTED THE TRUCK AND ALL OF THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE OCCURRED. THE DEALER, SECURITY DODGE OF AMITYVILLE, REPLACED A FUSE BUT WAS TOLD THEY CANNOT FIND A REASON WHY THE FUSE FAILED. TRUCK WORKED FINE ON THE RIDE HOME, PARKED IT AND TURNED IT OFF. TEN MINUTES LATER STARTED THE TRUCK AND ALL THE SAME ITEMS (SEE ABOVE) FAILED.
WATER LEAKES INTO THE REAR "RACE TRACK" LIGHT ASSEMBLY THAT IS ON THE REAR LIFT DOOR. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN PROBLEM IS NOTCED. I HAVE TO REMOVE BOTTOM BOLT ON REAR OF ASSEMBLY TO DRAIN WATER AND THEN IT FILLS UP AGAIN. A SECTION OF THE LIGHTING NO LONGER WORKS. I HAVE HAD INTERMITTED TIMES WHERE ALL REAR LIGHT ARE OUT( NO BRAKE/ TURN SIGNAL) NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE NOTICE MANY VEHICLES WITH SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS THRU MANY WEBSITES. THERE IS NO FIX OFFERED THRU DODGE EXCEPT PURCHASE REPLACEMENT PART FOR $1200.

ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 27, 2016 I BACKED OUR NEWLY PURCHASED USED 2014 DODGE DURANGO INTO OUR GARAGE, TURNED IT OFF AND WENT INTO MY HOUSE. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED ON ITS OWN SO I WENT OUT AND PRESSED THE BUTTON TO TURN IT OFF. WHEN I RETURNED INSIDE MY HOUSE, THIS OCCURRED TWO MORE TIMES (THE VEHICLE STARTED & I WENT OUT TO THE GARAGE TO TURN IT OFF). THIS IS PARTICULARLY TROUBLING AS THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE REMOTE START. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT WHILE MANY SOFTWARE ISSUES WERE UPDATED AND CORRECTED, NO DEFINITIVE CAUSE AS TO WHY THE VEHICLE SELF STARTED WAS FOUND. NOW I AM AFRAID TO PARK IN MY GARAGE, BECAUSE WHAT IF WE FAILED HEAR THIS DURANGO SELF START & ENDED DEAD FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING? HAVE OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS BEEN REPORTED AND INVESTIGATED? WHAT IS OUR RECOURSE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?
