FEBRUARY MY HUSBAND AND I FINANCED THIS CAR AND WITHIN LESS THAN ONE MONTH WE BEEN EXPERIENCING ONE ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER. FIRST, THE HEATER HOSE HAD A HOLE IN IT THEN AFTER THAT WAS THE RADIATOR THEN AFTER WE REPLACED THOSE TWO NOW WE HAVE A ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST MODIFIER AS WELL A ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES TODAY THE TIRES LOCKED UP ON US. COULD BE RELATED TO THE ISSUES THATS BEEN REPORTED ON THE NEWER DODGE GRAND CARAVANS.
REAR CALIPERS CONTINUE TO SEIZE EVEN AFTER REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT. THIS CAUSES THE REAR BRAKES TO GRIND DOWN THE PADS AND ROTORS. A QUICK ONLINE SEARCH REVEALED OVER 200 CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. SOME OF THE EXAMPLES WERE BEFORE THE VEHICLE EVEN HAD 50K ORIGINAL MILES. THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A RANDOM ISSUE BUT RATHER A DESIGN FLAW THAT THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR .
CAR STALLS OUT OF NOWHERE AND I LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AFTER IT'S STALLED. I HAVE NEARLY GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT TWICE BUT IT HAS STALLED MORE THAN THAT. IT WAS IN MOTION FROM SPEEDS OF 25-40 MPH ON CITY STREETS. TWICE ON A TURN AND 6 TIMES GOING STRAIGHT.
I HAVE OWNED MY DODGE CARAVAN SINCE APRIL 2016 AND HAVE NEEDED 3 EXTENSIVE BRAKE JOBS TOTALING OVER $3,000 WHICH INCLUDED NEW PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS. I HAVE READ ON OTHER SIGHTS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. I AM ABOUT TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE FORTH TIME AND AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS PROBLEM. I DRIVE MY FOUR CHILDREN AROUND IN THIS VEHICLE AND NEED IT TO BE SAFE. THAT IS WHY I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. NO BRAKES ARE NOT SAFE.
REAR BRAKES WEAR OUT INCREDIBLY FAST. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE CALIPER NOT RELEASING, WHICH SEEMS TO BE CAUSING THE REAR BRAKE WEAR.
VAN REAR BRAKES WILL INTERMITTENTLY STICK AND NOT RESPOND (RELEASE) TO OPERATOR CONTROL. VEHICLE DOES NOT GIVE WARNING OF MALFUNCTION, AND ONLY INDICATION OF THE MALFUNCTION IS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE SPEED VERY QUICKLY WHEN NOT UNDER POWER VIA GAS PETAL. WHEN ACCELERATION IS APPLIED, INDICATION OF MALFUNCTION MAY BE OBSERVED IN REDUCED FUEL EFFICIENCY. IF TRAVEL PERSISTS UNDER A MALFUNCTION CONDITION, BRAKE WILL EXCESSIVELY HEAT AND BEGIN SMOKING. MALFUNCTION CONDITION WILL HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF SPEED, OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE, AND ROAD CONDITIONS. OCCURRENCE OF MALFUNCTION IS APPX ONCE OR TWICE A SEASON.

JUST HAD 2010 VAN THAT WAS PURCHASED NEW IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. WAS TOLD THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE REAR BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS. 61,000 MILES. THIS WILL BE THE 3RD SET OF PADS AND ROTORS ON THE REAR. BASED ON THE TYPE OF DRIVING WE DO THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH AROUND 15,000 MILES CHRYSLER REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY IT WAS BECAUSE OF A CALIPER STICKING ON THE FRONT. THESE PADS, ROTORS AND CALIPERS HAVE NOT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR SERVICED IN OVER 45,000 MILES BASED ON ALL THE FEEDBACK ONLINE AND A CONVERSATION WITH AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. *TR
THE CALIPERS LOCKED UP ON MY REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THERE WAS A TERRIBLE SMELL AND LOUD SOUND WHEN IT HAPPENED. I WAS OUT OF TOWN WITH MY DAUGHTER. I HAD TO LEAVE THE VAN ON A COUNTRY ROAD AND COME BACK FOR IT LATER IN ORDER TO LET IT COOL SO IT DIDN'T CATCH FIRE. THE COST TO REPAIR WAS $750 TO HAVE ALL 4 CALIPERS REPLACED. I HAD A 2006 DODGE CARAVAN THAT HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN 3 YEARS AGO. WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME IN 2011, IT SMOKED AND 911 WAS CALLED TO CHECK OUT THE ISSUE. HAVING HAD 2 OF THE SAME TYPES OF VANS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM INDICATES TO ME THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH DODGE'S DESIGN OF THEIR VEHICLES. THERE ARE INSTANCES OF THIS PROBLEM ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH SEVERAL DODGE MODELS. A FRIEND OF MINE SEVERAL YEARS AGO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A BRAND NEW DODGE DAKOTA THAT SHE HAD FOR 2 WEEKS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY DODGE. HAVING BRAKES CATCH FIRE IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I CAN NO LONGER TAKE MY VAN OUT OF TOWN FOR FEAR OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ONE DAY, OUT OF THY BLUE, THE VAN BEGAN TO SHAKE TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE VAN. WE COULDN'T GET THE SPEED OVER 25 MPH. WE GOT IT TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC SHOP. THEY SAID IT WAS THE CALIPERS. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO CATCHING ON FIRE. I HAD TO HAVE BOTH CALIPERS REPLACED AND A BRAKE JOB. I ALSO HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE. I CALLED AND REPORTED IT TO DODGE/CHRYSLER. THEY SAID THAT THERE HAD NOT BEEN ANY PROBLEMS WITH OTHER VANS. IT WAS AN EXTREMELY SCARY INCIDENT TO GO THROUGH. THEY SAID THAT THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING IF THE VAN HAD ACTUALLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. THAT'S JUST CRAZY. THIS HAS COST ME ABOUT $800.00. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS GETS REPORTED IN CASE OTHER VANS HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE MECHANICS WERE SHOCKED AT WHAT THEY SAW. THEY SAID THAT IT SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE WHAT IT DID. *TR

PINS SHOULD NOT JUST FALL OUT OF CALIPERS. SO MANY OTHERS HAVE POSTED ISSUES WITH BRAKES FROM THIS MAKE/MODEL OF CAR, YET NO RECALLS. WHY?? *TR

MANUFACTURER ISSUED A RECALL ONLY FOR FRONT BRAKES, DEALERSHIP CHANGED FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS WHEN VEHICLE HAD 10,000 MILES APPX ALMOST ONE YEAR BACK( AROUND FIRST QUARTER 2012). SHAKING OF VEHICLE WHEN BRAKES DID NOT RESOLVE. DEALERSHIP CHARGED AND CHANGED REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS. NOW ONE YEAR LATER DEALERSHIP IS RECOMMENDING CHANGING REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS TO ELIMINATE THE ISSUE OF VAN SHAKING WHILE BRAKING. ITS ONLY AFTER 7000 MILES OF CHANGING BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND WITHIN SHORT INTERVALS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
TRAVELING AT 55MPH HUMMING /GROWLING NOISE FROM REAR. PULLED OVER NOISE STOPPED BOTH REAR WHEELS VERY HOT FRONTS WARM BUT COULD TOUCH DROVE CAR NOISE RETURNED 5DAYS LATER SAME ISSUE WITH HEAT. BOTH TIMES HAD BEEN TRAVELING FOR 1/2HOUR OR MORE AT SPEED.CAR WOULD ROLL FREELY NO WARNING LIGHTS. *TR
PASSENGER REAR WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY HOT WITH LOUD HUMMING NOISE AFTER TRAVELING AT 67 MPH FOR A FEW MINUTES. CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THE BRAKE CALIPER HAD BEEN STICKING. THE PADS AND ROTORS MUST BE REPLACED. THE DEALER KNOWS THE STICKING CALIPER IS THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPAIR IT. I AM AFRAID I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO FIX MY BRAKES EVERY 25,000 MILES OR EVEN LESS. *TR

WE HAD A VERY LOUD SCRAPING NOISE COMING FROM OUR REAR DRIVE SIDE TIRE. AT FIRST IT WAS WHEN YOU APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT IT QUICKLY BE CAME CONSTANT. WE CALLED THE DEALER AND THE QUICKEST WE COULD GET IN WAS 4/30/13. THE DEALER LET US KNOW THAT THE REAR CALIPER SADDLE CEASED AND THIS CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE ROTOR AND THE PADS. THE CALIPER IS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE DAMAGE IS CAUSES IS NOT. I DID A SEARCH AND IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VANS BUT NO RECALL FROM DODGE. THEY DID HOWEVER ADD AN EXTENSION TO THE FRONT BRAKES BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL SO CAUSING ISSUES IN THESE VEHICLES. LOOKS LIKE THEY NEED TO DO THE SAME FOR THE BACK. I AM LOCATED IN CANADA. *TR
