REMOTE DOES NOT WORK. TO UNLOCK MY DOORS I HAVE TO TAKE THE KEY OUT. I CAN NOT USE ANY OF THE FEATURES AT ALL. I DO NOT HAVE$250 TO GET A REMOTE THAT IS OBSURD.!!!!
ALL OF MY PROBLEMS STARTED ABOUT 30-45 DAYS AGO. I WAS DRIVIN ALONG AT 65 MPH AND LIGHTS STARTED LIGHTING UP ON MY DAS AND THEN STARTED FLICKERING. NOT LONG AFTER THAT THE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP AND THE ALL OF A SUDDEN DIE AND HAVE NO POWER AT ALL. EVERYTHING STOPPED WORKING, RADIO, CLOCK, SPPEDOMETER, ETC. SINCE THEN THE VAN HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE FIRST DIAGNOSIS WAS A BRAKE SWITH RELAY AND THEY SAID THAT SHOULD FIX IT. WELL THE SAME PROBLEMS OCCURED A FEW MORE TIMES WITH NO COMMON DENOMINATOR AS TO WHY IT WAS NOT RUNNING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY UNPLUGGED THE TIPM (TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE). THEY SAID THAT CLEARED ALL CODES AND A RESET FIXES THE PROBLEM SOME TIMES. I PICKED IT UP THE NEXT AND EVERYTHING WAS FOR MY TRIP TO ST. LOUIS AND BACK. I GOT IN THE VAN LATER THAT EVENING AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND THE VAN LOST ALL POWER. I ALMOST TOO OUT MY FENCE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I PUT IT IN PARK AND THE KEY WOULDN'T COME OUT. AFTER A LITTLE WHILE THE KEY CAME OUT ANBD THE VAN FINALLY STARTED. I CALLED THE TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT HAULED DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. AFTER A FEW DAYS THE DETERMINED IT WAS HE TIPM AND THE BILL WAS APP. $1000.00. I HAVE A CASE OPENED WITH CHRYSLER (CASE #: 31057897) WITH THERESA. AFTER GOOGLING THE TIPM I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CARAVANS, TOWN & COUNTRY'S, DODGE RAMS, DURANGOS AND SOME JEEP MODELS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO RECTIFIED BY CHRSLER.ALL OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURED IN VARIOUS LOCATION (PAKKING LOTS, DRIVEWAY, RURAL HIGHWAYS WITH NO SHOULDER, STOP LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS.)
DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER, STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITY. AFTER RESEARCH, I FIND THAT DODGE HAS HAD A RECALL FOR WIRELESS IGNITION NODE WHICH SOUNDS LIKE THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING HOWEVER MY VEHICLE ISN'T IN THE RECALL. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN NOTICED A HYDRAULIC NOISE AS IF POWER STEERING WAS LABORING EVEN WHEN NOT TURNING THE WHEEL. STOPPED TO CHECK FLUID RESERVOIR AND NOTICED IT WAS UNDER PRESSURE WHEN OPENED BUT FLUID LEVEL WAS FINE BUT BUBBLY. PROCEEDED TO DRIVE ON FREEWAY AT 65 MPH AND HEARD LOUD NOISE FROM UNDER HOOD. STOPPED AT NEXT EXIT AND FLUID WAS ALL OVER ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TOWED TO DEALER THEY REPLACED PUMP BUT INITIAL NOISE WAS EVIDENT AFTER REPAIR AND STEERING STILL NOT NORMAL. THEY ARE NOW REPLACING STEERING GEAR WITH AFTERMARKET PART BECAUSE MANUFACTURER PART ON BACK ORDER. IF MANUFACTURER IS OUT OF PARTS THIS LEADS ME TO CONCLUSION THAT IT IS DEFECTIVE FROM ORIGIN I WILL SEND INVOICES WHEN I HAVE RECEIVED THEM, VAN IS STILL IN SHOP. I WAS NOT TURNING JUST TRAVELING 65 MPH WHEN P/S PUMP BLEW. *TR
VAN REAR BRAKES WILL INTERMITTENTLY STICK AND NOT RESPOND (RELEASE) TO OPERATOR CONTROL. VEHICLE DOES NOT GIVE WARNING OF MALFUNCTION, AND ONLY INDICATION OF THE MALFUNCTION IS THAT THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE SPEED VERY QUICKLY WHEN NOT UNDER POWER VIA GAS PETAL. WHEN ACCELERATION IS APPLIED, INDICATION OF MALFUNCTION MAY BE OBSERVED IN REDUCED FUEL EFFICIENCY. IF TRAVEL PERSISTS UNDER A MALFUNCTION CONDITION, BRAKE WILL EXCESSIVELY HEAT AND BEGIN SMOKING. MALFUNCTION CONDITION WILL HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF SPEED, OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE, AND ROAD CONDITIONS. OCCURRENCE OF MALFUNCTION IS APPX ONCE OR TWICE A SEASON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH DID NOT FUNCTION. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE MASTER SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V234000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
ON JANUARY 7, 2017, I TRIED TO START MY 2010 CARAVAN. IT WOULDN'T START. THE LIGHT WAS ON FOR THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AS WAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE MID-DECEMBER. THE OTHER TWO TIMES AFTER WAITING FOR UP TO A WEEK, IT HAS STARTED. AFTER CHECKING AROUND, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS HAPPENING QUITE A BIT TO OTHERS AS WELL. APPARENTLY, DEALERSHIPS HAVE NO CLUE EITHER, AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS ISSUE. IT COULD BE THE THROTTLE CONTROL, IT COULD BE THE MAIN ELECTRICAL MODULE, NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW FOR SURE. I'M PRETTY MUCH STUCK, AS I DON'T WANT TO BE OUT ON THE ROAD AND HAVE MY VAN STOP, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
MY HEAD LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY BLINK WHEN I TURN ON MY VEHICLE AS WELL AS WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE RUNNING LIGHTS STILL WORK BUT ITS THE HIGH AND LOW BEAM LIGHTS. THE LIGHTS WILL BLINK A FEW TIMES THEN STAY OFF. THE VEHICLE CAN BE IN MOTION OR SITTING STILL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND RESEARCHED ONLINE AND IT LOOKS TO BE A REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE TIPM MODULE WHICH IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX. ALSO LOOKING AT THE ONLINE FORUMS, IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODULE ON A LOT OF VEHICLES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE DIAGNOSED IT TO THE TIPM. I BELIEVE SINCE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE VEHICLES, CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THESE TIPMS SINCE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE PEOPLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET AND HITTING A LARGE BUMP OR DRIVING OVER BUMPY RAILROAD TRACKS THE VEHICLE WILL JUST SHUT OFF LIKE SOMEONE TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK AND TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON TO START THE CAR AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. *TR
VAN EITHER EXHIBITS A SLOW TO NONE START AS WELL AS STALLING WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY IN 1ST 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING
I HAVE HAD MY 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN FOR 1 YEAR. FIRST THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT THEN THE KEY MODULE THEN THE TRANSMISSION THEN THE SHIFTING HARNESSES CABLE AND NOW THE LIGHTS KEEP BLINKING ON AND OFF AND THE VAN FEELS LIKE IT HAS NO POWER THE BATTERY WAS JUST CHANGED A MONTH AGO. THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST VEHICLE EVER AND WE ARE SCARED THAT IT IS GOING TO CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE GETS STUCK IN GEARS. AND AND NOW KEEPS SHUTTING OFF AND THE HEADLIGHTS KEEP BLINKING ON AND OFF AS WELL AS ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE VAN. IF THESE ARE KNOW ISSUES WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A TOTAL RECALL ON ALL THESE VEHICLES BEFORE A DEADLY ACCIDENT DOES HAPPEN. OR IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE TO ACTUALLY DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT ALL THE KNOWN ISSUES THE MAKERS OF THESE VEHICLES ARE AWARE OF.
MY VAN JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DOING 55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. NO WARNING SIGNS OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. I HAD NO STEERING, GAS, OR BREAKS WHEN IT SHUT OFF. THE A FEW DAYS LATER ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON THEN WENT OFF BUT NEVER SHUT OFF UNTIL A FEW BLOCKS LATER WHEN IT TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET. AND EVERYTIME IT SHUTS OFF I PUT IT IN PARK TAKE THE KEYS OUT AND THEN RESTART THE VAN AND IT ACTS LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND WE LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. WE HAVE TO COAST TO A STOP, PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND RESTART ENGINE AND PROCEED. THIS HAPPENS WITH NO PREDICTABILITY WHICH MAKES THIS DANGEROUS. THE TIMES THAT IT HAS HAPPENED, THE ROADS HAVE BEEN WET OR SNOW COVERED. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON DRY ROADS. TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED MAKES THIS A DANGEROUS CIRCUMSTANCE. SINCE IT IS UNPREDICTABLE, WE ARE VERY NERVOUS TO TAKE THIS CAR ON A HIGHWAY. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR IN TO SHAPIRO LEON MOTOR SALES SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING THAT COMES UP ON THEIR DIAGNOSTICS.THEY DID REPLACE THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. THIS DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IT CONTINUED TO SHUT DOWN. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON. THEY HAVE DRIVEN IT BUT IT DID NOT SHUT DOWN FOR THEM. I GOT IT INANE SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING , IT SHUT DOWN. WE KNOW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH THROUGH JUNE 2010 BUT OUR CAR WAS MANUFACTURED SEPT 2010. HOWEVER ALL THE SYMPTOMS THAT ARE LISTED ON THAT RECALL FIT OUR VAN'S PROBLEM PERFECTLY. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT AGREE A PER THEIR TESTING. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE CAN HAVE HAPPEN TO US WHILE TRAVELING 65 DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE ONLY THING THAT SHOWS UP ON THE DASH IS THE TRACTION CONTROL WHEN WE LOSE ENGINE POWER. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES FOR A FEW HOURS, THE SLIDING DOORS, PARTICULARLY THE DRIVES SIDE WILL BECOME NON-FUNCTION AND CANNOT BE OPENED. THE LOCKS CLICK, BUT THE DOOR REFUSE TO OPEN. THIS IS NOT A ONE-ITEM OCCURRENCE. IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
OUR 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN STALLED 14 TIMES THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND (MORE THAN USUAL). IT STALLS AT ANY SPEED AND AT ANY TIME (WARM OR COLD) AND LOSES ALL POWER. HAVE YOU EVER HAD TO SHIFT A VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AT 70 MPH AND RESTART IT ON AN EXPRESSWAY IN HOLIDAY TRAFFIC (WITH NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES)? WELL IT REALLY PUTS THE FAMILY IN A JOLLY MOOD. DEALER CLAIMS NOT TO BE ABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT (BECAUSE THE ERROR CODES ARE NOT RECORDED IN THE VEHICLE COMPUTER SINCE THERE IS NO POWER). BASED ON ALL OF THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINTS I SEE FOR THIS VEHICLE, IT'S OBVIOUS TO ME THAT IT'S A TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) ISSUE. ANY IDIOT PERFORMING A LITTLE RESEARCH ON GOOGLE CAN FIGURE IT OUT. HOWEVER, NHTSA CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE IT OUT. SEE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP14004. VAN INTERMITTENTLY STOP SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING (CITY OR HIGHWAY) AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART TO DRIVE AGAIN. AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER ALSO GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY. LOTS OF ERROR CODES REPORTED VIA OBD2 AND ALL ARE ELECTRICAL RELATED. TOOK IT TO MULTIPLE AUTO PART STORES AND LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP, ALL SAID IT WAS A FAULTY TIPM.
AFTER NOTICING THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS NOT ALWAYS WORKING, I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH. AFTER GIVING THEM MY VIN # THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH UNDER THE RECALL. IF I WANT TO REPLACE THE SWITCH IT WILL BE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. I FILL IF THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE IT SHOULD BE AT THERE EXPENSE!! PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH BEGAN TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
THE VAN WILL INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO START, OR IT SPUTTERS WHEN IT STARTS. BYPASSING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY ON THE TIPM MODULE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER IT IS NOT A SAFE PERMANENT SOLUTION. OTHER MAKES AND MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, HOWEVER THE 2010 DODGE CARAVAN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE SAME DEFECT AND PROBLEM IS EVIDENT. THIS IS A BAD DESIGN AND DODGE SHOULD STICK BY THEIR MISTAKES AND PROVIDE A FIX.
BOUGHT A USED DODGE CARAVAN WITH 96,000 MILES ON IT AND IT RAN LIKE A DREAM. NOW THAT IT HAS 111000 MILES ON IT, THE CAR HAS STARTED TO STALL ON ME WHILE ABOUT HALF A DOZEN TIMES DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VAN, THE VEHICLE CUTS OFF, STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER TO DRIVE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE A CAR TO JUST "SHUT-OFF" WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 5 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST WEEK. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON DIFFERENT CITIES STREET AND ONCE WHILE TURNING INTO MAJOR TRAFFIC. I CONTACTED A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THIS PARTICULAR CAR WAS NOT IN A RECALL BUT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR DODGE CARAVANS FOR MANY YEARS FROM MY RESEARCH. *TR
I WAS WALKING BACK TO MY RUNNING, SET IN PARK VAN, AS I WALKED THROUGH THE FRONT OF MY VAN, AND BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE, I TOUCHED MY VAN HOOD, AND MY CAR WENT FORWARD BY ITSELF PINNING ME BETWEEN BOTH CARS CRUSHING MY KNEES! IT WENT UPHILL SET IN PARK WHILE RUNNING IN A DRIVEWAY.

FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS FAILED; HAD THEM REPLACED BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED

THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
BAD STRUTS BAD BRAKES
SUDDENLY THE HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING ON BOTH HIGH AND LOW. WE LIVE IN A RURAL AREA, SO THIS IS SERIOUS. WHEN WE NOTICED THE PROBLEM WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY, MOVING. DEALSHIP CONFIRMS NEEDS NEW TIPM AT $1354.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS (35MPH OR SLOWER) THE VEHICLE ENGINE HAS STALLED 5 TIMES SINCE JULY OF 2016. THE STALLING ISSUE HAPPENS DURING THE FIRST DRIVE OF THE DAY. HAPPENS WITHIN THE FIRST 3-4 MILES OF THE DRIVE BEEN TO THE FCA DEALERSHIP TWICE UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE POWER BRAKES AND STEERING GO OUT DUE TO THE ENGINE STALL. IT HAS HAPPENED ON STRAIGHT ROADS AND DURING CURVED ROADS. I'M ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND RE-START THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO WARNING OR INDICATOR OF THE STALL, ONLY THE INCREASED EFFORT TO TURN OR STOP THE VEHICLE. DATES OF OCCURRENCE: 7/16, 8/7, 8/20, 9/3 & 9/17.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO STOP AND TURN THE KEY FOB TO THE OFF POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR A DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
VAN WOULD NOT TURN OFF. AFTER MANY TRIES, IT FINALLY DID SHUT OFF ENGINE. THEN, WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT, THE WARNING BEEP KEPT BEEPING AND ALERT SYSTEM SAID "BAD KEY". WHEN I CONTACTED DODGE IN ROCKWALL TEXAS, THE TECHNICIAN SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A BAD KEY FOB, SO I HAD VAN TOWED TO SHOP AND WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF $320 TO REPLACE KEY FOB. UPON MY RETURN, HE SAID IT WAS NOT THE KEY, BUT THE WIRELESS IGNITION SYSTEM THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. HE SAID MY VAN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, BUT YET MANY OTHER VANS FROM THAT SAME YEAR MODEL AND MAKE WERE. WHY ISN'T THIS VAN PART OF THE RECALL IF IT IS EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE ONES THAT ARE BEING RECALLED AND REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE?
THE HEADLIGHTS JUST STOP WORKING AND THEN HOURS OR DAYS LATER THEY WORK AGAIN AND THEN IN A FEW DAYS THE HEADLIGHTS STOP WORKING. THE VAN CAN BE MOVING OR STATIONARY.
THE THIRD ROW IS UN-USEABLE TO ANY PASSENGER THAT IS NOT IN A HIGH BACK BOOSTER, REARFACING RESTRAINT OR IS IN A FORWARD FACING RESTRAINT SYSTEM. A NORMAL ADULT WILL HAVE 2 OR SO INCHES OF A GAP FROM THE SEAT BELT TO THEIR SHOULDER/ COLLARBONE AND FEET WILL MOST LIKELY DANGLE. A PASSENGER WITH A NO HIGH BACK BOOSTER (MINE IS 7YR, 42 IN, AND 42LBS) WILL HAVE ANYWHERE FROM 3.5 INCHES FROM COLLARBONE TO SEAT BELT, WITH SEATBELT AT AN ANGLE DOWN TO THE BUCKLE. THE GAP GOES FROM 3.5 TO BEING SIDEWAYS ON THE BODY. IT WILL NOT LAY FLESH WITH THE BODY ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BUCKLE. THIS CAN CAUSE EJECTION FROM THE CAR UPON IMPACT, STRANGULATION IS CHILD TRIES PLAYING WITH IT OR IN ACCIDENT. THIS CAN ALSO CAUSE SEVER HEAD WHIPLASH, NECK WHIPLASH, CUTTING OF THE STOMACH OR OTHER AREA FRO A LOCKED SEATBELT THAT IS NOT LAYING FLAT. UPON, ANY OF SEVERE INJURIES. I HAVE CONTACTED DODGE ABOUT THIS AND WAS TOLD TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT HELP ME AND WILL TELL ME TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE PUTTING THIS VAN ON THE MARKET FOR THE NEXT BUYER WHO MAY NO BE EDUCATED IN VEHICLE SAFETY. THIS VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS DEFECT WAS FOUND.
I FIRST RECIEVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY OF 2016 I CONTACTED HUNTER DODGE TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED AND WAS PLACED ON A WAITING LIST FOR THE PART. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE PART BEING IN AND RECIEVED ANOTHER NOTICE, I AGAIN CONTACTED THEM AND WAS PLACED ON ANOTHER LIST. THIS HAS CONTINUED FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS. I RECEIVED YET ANOTHER NOTICE ON 8/25/2016 CALLED THEM AND I FINALLY RECIEVED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 8/31/2016 AND THEN WAS CALLED 1 HOUR AFTER THE APPOINTMENT WAS GIVEN AND ASKED TO RE SCHEDULE FOR OCTOBER. I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY IGNITION OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS, THE KEY SWITCHES FROM ON TO ACCESSORY WITHOUT ANYONE NEAR IT, AND I NOTIFIED HUNTER DODGE OF THIS AND THEY SAID THE SOONEST I COULD GET IN WAS 9/10/2016. IT WAS BEEN 8 MONTHS SINCE MY FIRST NOTICE AND FEEL LIKE SAFETY ISN'T THEIR FIRST CONCERN. IT HAS BEEN A FRUSTRATING ORDEAL

THE VEHICLE CONTINUED RUNNING AFTER PULLED KEY OUT OF IGNITION. PROBLEM WAS WITH WIN MODULE WHICH WAS APPARENTLY PART OF A RECALL THAT INVOLVED 2006-2010 GRAND CARAVAN MODELS, ALTHOUGH SOMEHOW MY 2010 GRAND CARAVAN ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE WOMAN AT THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE THIRD ONE OF THE DAY, BUT MINE WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT DIDN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL.
I HAD TURNED ONTO A HIGHWAY AND WAS ACCELERATING AND WHEN I GOT UP TO SPEED, 65 MPH, I LET OFF THE GAS BUT THE VAN KEPT ACCELERATING. I HIT THE BRAKES AND IT KEPT TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS HITTING THE BRAKES. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THERE WAS NOTHING. I WAS TRYING NOT TO HIT OTHER CARS AND SLOW DOWN SO I COULD PULL OVER. I DIDN'T THINK TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL BUT STOMPED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WITH THE REGULAR BRAKES AND IT FINALLY SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH I COULD PULL OVER BUT IT STILL KEPT TRYING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT WAS STILL KIND OF LURCHING FORWARD TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS STILL STANDING ON THE BRAKES. I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND IT FINALLY STOPPED. THROUGH THIS WHOLE ORDEAL IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE WAS PRESSING ON THE GAS AT THE SAME TIME THAT I WAS HITTING THE BRAKES AND IT DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I TURNED THE VAN OFF.

THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART, THEN CALL ME TO SET UP THE APPOINTMENT. I CALLED AGAIN ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 20, 2016 AND WAS TOLD THEY STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART NEEDED. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 11, 2016 AND I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED A CALL FOR THE APPOINTMENT. I HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION OR PHOTOS BECAUSE THE PART UNDER RECALL IS STILL WORKING, BUT WHO KNOWS FOR HOW LONG. I HAVE HAD RECALLS OF OTHER VEHICLES THAT DO NOT TAKE THIS LONG.

THE HEADLIGHTS WILL COME ON AND BLINK A FEW TIMES AND THEN GO OUT AND NOT COME BACK ON (SIM AND BRIGHTS). TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE SO NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. CAN CANNOT BE DRIVEN AT NIGHT OR INCLEMENT WEATHER. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN STATIONARY, DRIVING THROUGH A NEIGHBORHOOD SLOWLY, AND WHEN GOING DOWN AN INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. WHEN THAT HAPPENED OTHER CARS COULD NOT SEE ME AND I COULDN'T TELL WHERE THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WAS TO GET OFF SAFELY. WHEN I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER I HAD TO SWERVE BACK INTO TRAFFIC BECAUSE LUCKILY MY EYES ADJUSTED SOME AND WAS ABLE TO SEE A BRIDGE RAILING COMING UP. AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT FUNCTION. MANUAL & DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED CRUISE WOULD NOT WORK IF AIR BAG INDICATOR IS LIT. VEHICLE RAN HOT DURING SLOW SPEEDS IN HOT WEATHER. DEALERSHIP FIRST SAID DRIVER'S AIRBAG SENSOR & TIPM WERE BAD, & BAD TIPM AFFECTS ALL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS FROM AIRBAGS, LIGHTS, BRAKES, WIPERS, HORN, WINDOWS, TEMP CONTROL, & MORE. LEARNED THAT DODGE HAS HAD WIDESPREAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM, AND DID NOT WANT TO CHANCE THE AIRBAGS NOT WORKING, SO WE HAD TO REPLACE IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. WE ARE REPORTING THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT DID NOT CAUSE A SAFETY INCIDENT - WE CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL *AFTER* A POTENTIAL SAFETY INCIDENT THAT INVOLVED MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAGS... ADDITIONALLY, THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR, THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF IF THE GEAR LEVER WAS SLIGHTLY TOUCHED. ALSO THE KEY BECAME DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION, BUT THE RECALL REPAIR CORRECTED THIS ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
