The ABS, Traction Control System, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) warning lights were illuminated. The contact replaced the battery twice; however, the failure reoccurred. Additionally, the contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as designed and hesitant to respond. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or local dealer for diagnosis or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL. EVEN THOUGH I SEE OTHER DODGE JOURNEY RECALLS OF SAME FIRE BEING RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING THE ENTIRE BOARD FLASHED AND THEN VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROD AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED EARLIER BY THE DEALER OURISMAN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BOWIE 2406 CRAIN HWY, BOWIE, MD 20716 (855) 822-3228. THE CONTACT SUSPECTED THE DEALER DID SUBPAR WORK THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT THE CONTACT DID NOT GET HER VEHICLE BACK UNTIL THE END OF NOVEMBER 2019, THE VEHICLE ISSUE OF STOPPING OCCURRED IN 12/2019. THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THE CONTACT A CASE NUMBER BUT HAD NOT CALLED BACK WITH AN UPDATE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE FTC AND HER STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,226.
AFTER DRIVING HOME FROM MY HOUSE TO MY MOM, IN THE MORNING I WENT TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD CRANK ON BUT NOT FULLY START. IT'S BEEN DOING THAT FOR THE PAST THREE DAYS CAN'T MOVE MY CAR OUT OF START BECAUSE IT'S NOT FULLY TURNING ON

WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE AND BLACK SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BUT THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED BUT A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE REMAINS OF THE VEHICLE WERE TOWED TO A LOT FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO INSPECT. THE DEALER JOHN HIESTER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (940 N MAIN ST, LILLINGTON, NC 27546 (910) 893-8088) WAS ASKED ABOUT RECALLS AND TOLD THE CONTACT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE VEHICLE CATCHING ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AT THE SCENE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT OF A CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT BANK ONE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
WIFE WAS DRIVING CAR 1/2 MILE FROM HOME, STARTED SMOKING, STALLED ON BUSY STREET, COASTED INTO SHOPPING CENTER HAD CAR TOWED TO A GARAGE-FOUND FREEZE PLUG BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANS FAILED, ENGINE OVERHEATED , CLY HEAD GASKETS FAILED,ENGINE HAD TO BE REMOVED AND REBUILT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BOTH OF WHOM WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
MY DODGE JOURNEY SXT 2009 HAS 121500 MILES ON IT AND THE STARTER HAS FAILED.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHEN TURNING THE IGNITION ON IT WILL JUST CLICK. IT MAY START UP AFTER 10 MIN 2HRS MAYBE NOT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THIS SINCE WE BROUGHT THIS 2009 DODGE JOURNEY NEW. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TROY MOTOR MALL THEY COULD NOT PINPOINT THE PROBLEM AND THEY CHARGED US. SAME PROBLEM LATER NOTHING CHANGED. DID NOT START RECENTLY FIRST WEEK IN OCTOBER AAA TOW TRUCK CAME AND THE DRIVER HEARD THE CLICKING SOUND AND INDICATED THAT IT WAS THE STARTER. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR THAT NEXT WEEK AND HAD THE STARTER REPLACED AND IN A FEW DAYS IT WAS NOT STARTING AGAIN. I WENT TO THE DODGE DEALER TODAY AND I EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT I HAD BEEN GOING THROUGH ALL OF THIS TIME AND HE STILL INDICATED THAT IT WOULD BE A $100.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I LOOKED UP THIS ISSUE ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND A PERSON WITH THE SAME ISSUE INDICATED THAT THEIR MECHANIC FOUND IT TO BE A FAULTY RANGE SENSOR ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION COMPLAINT #143 UNDER 2009 DODGE JOURNEY WON'T TURN OVER, ENGINE WON'T START. THERE WERE QUITE A FEW OTHER COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS SAME ISSUE THAT'S WHY IT'S HARD FOR ME TO UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NO RECALL CONCERNING THIS MATTER. WHEN EVER I GET IT FIXED I'D LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED BY CHRYSLER DODGE.
MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 MECHANICS, REPLACED THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD 2 TIMES AND THE LIGHT KEEPS COMING BACK ON. THERE'S A RECALL ON VEHICLES FOR 2011, BUT NOT FOR 2009. WHEN DRIVING, ENGINE LIGHT CONSISTENTLY CAME ON. HAD VEHICLE REPEATEDLY CHECKED. IT WAS DETERMINED MANIFOLDS WERE STICKING. HAD MANIFOLD MODULE REPLACED. THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS. MANIFOLDS WERE AGAIN CHECKED TO ENSURE THEY WERE OPERATING PROPERLY. THEY WERE AND STILL ARE. HOWEVER, ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON INDICATING OTHERWISE. MECHANIC SAID IT IS A COMMON "FLUKE" IN THE CHRYSLER VEHICLES. *TR
A PLASTIC PIECE HOLD TWO MALE HOSES TOGETHER MELTED FROM THE HEAT OF THE ENGINE'S MANIFOLD CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REACH POSSIBLE DAMAGING TEMPERATURE DUE TO THE LOSS OF COOLANT. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND STREET BEFORE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STEAM FROM COOLANT LOSS ONTO THE MANIFOLD. THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT MELTED WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE A SMALL FIRE ON THE MANIFOLD.
