My vehicle locks the brakes momentarily and repeatedly when I brake hard on a slippery or uneven surface, especially when moving downhill. It appears this safety issue is already the subject of an open NHTSA investigation, NHTSA Action Number: PE24001. I can confirm the existence of the defect involved in this invedtigation.
Car abruptly stopped for no reason on June 2. Thankfully I was pulling into a driveway, so only decelerated from 10mph, but still scared my kids. Blind spot detection and door open assist stopped working in January. Automatic wipers have never worked, ADAS Warning light has been on since January. GPS will stay on a single location for weeks at a time and not move. All of those have some level of safety risk with brakes and blind spot being the worst. Also, the rear quarter panel windows do not open as they should. All problems still exist and Fisker has made no attempts to fix, nor have they responded to over 20 service requests / interactions, nor to requests for solution from the Ohio AG office other than confirmation of email receipt. Was told a tech would be dispatched ASAP in January and I am still waiting with zero response from Fisker to multiple emails since then.
On July 2024 automobile manufacturer Fisker Inc, mailed me two "safety recalls" that have not been yet resolved. 1) NHTSA campaign #24V405, Recall TSB70062404 for defective cluster telltales & 2) NHTSA campaign #24V404, Recall TSB10032403 for defective powertrain modules. There is no responsive communication with Fisker Inc. The two letters indicate that "over the air" software version Operating System 2.1 were going to be available in June 2024 for installation process, but has not yet happened for my car.

Multiple systems keep failing
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V623000 (Service Brakes, Electric), 24V499000 (Electrical System), 24V405000 (Electrical System), 24V404000 (Electrical System) and 24V466000 (Structure); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that after having the 2.0 Diversion Software update completed, while attempting to depress the brake pedal, the vehicle displayed a significant reduction in regenerative braking briefly before braking as expected. Additionally, the front passenger’s side door failed to open without manually tapping the outside door handle to be able to open the door from the inside door handle. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated during the failures. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, there was a grinding sound coming from the vehicle before there was a reduction in the regenerative braking briefly before the vehicle abruptly started braking. There were no warning lights illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,370.
The primary central LCD display that controls charging the batteries, displays speed information on smaller and management of how the EV works is no longer working. This LCD panel is the only way to set, monitor, modify, control all functions of this car. I have been unable to get Fisker to fix this problem. I will call them and wait 4 to 5 hours on the phone and my call will always be dropped. There is no other option to contact them.
Brakes give out and car shoots out forward when using “high” regenerative breaking. This is a continual problem, happening many times almost causing crashes.
When a small bump happens in the road while braking, the brakes fail momentarily and the car keeps moving forward. Something is not right.
When in traffic, if my car is in stand-still and I shift in my seat, the car puts itself into park. This is extremely dangerous as I am actively on a highway in park. I have to spend upwards of a minute trying to turn the parking brake off and shift the car back into drive. This is a continual problem that will not be fixed/addressed by attempts to contact the vehicle manufacturer. It happens often.
When the windshield fogs up, it takes an extremely long time to defog. Today, the windshield got completely fogged up and the passenger side would not clear up. I had it turned all the way up and I could not get it to clear up. In addition to this, the side windows would not clear up and the button for the rear defrost would not work. I have told fisker about this in the past and they have told me that updates would fix this. The only update that has happened was the 2.0 update. I have not driven the car in excessive rain since I got the update until today and it has definetly gotten worse and almost unmanageable to drive. I don't know how the car will be drivable in the winter as I had to pull off to the side to let this clear up. With all of the other issues with the side sensors not working, it is dangerous to have the side windows not clear. The foggy front window also caused all of the warning sensors to go off as well causing many distractions while driving.
The regenerative braking is not occurring once removing the foot from accelerator, when driving over uneven or bumpy surface. In fact the car accelerates on it's own which several times lead to collision.
Rear passenger door won't open from inside or outside. Company sent replacement part at end of May, but has been unresponsive about sending a tech out to replace among other issues. Concerned about safety for my child or rear passengers in event of accident.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, warning lights displaying incorrect warnings were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V405000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the braking system disengaged, causing the vehicle to move forward. The contact attempted to notify the manufacturer of the failure, however; had been unable to reach a representative. The failure mileage was approximately 150.
Vehicle would go into reduced speed mode and abruptly come to 17 mph on highway. I have called. Emailed. And send message on social media with zero responses. Service department has not responded in months to any service requests.
Unable to Start Fisker Ocean One with FOB vehicle continues to state "battery low" and NFC on FOB not functioning. Fisker Ocean One sits dead unable to start or function for hours leaving the driver stranded. Contacted Fisker Ocean Customer Support who were unable to define or help why this is occuring? Fisker Ocean One strands driver anywhere and anytime as you may drive and then stop or get halted and then unable to get the vehicle to start up and have to sit stranded until vehicle will start back up at "random unknown timeframes".
Loss of braking occurs when either slowing down using regen braking or applying brakes if driving over uneven or rough pavement. For example going or railroad tracks. Lane keep assistance pulls car into turn while driving around on ramps. It should not pull you into turn of same direction. Blind spot warnings are intermittent and requires reset of software or pulling over and retarting car. Brakes have automatically been applied in situations that did not warrant aggressive braking. I pulled into my driveway with another car in front. While pulling up and parking going under 1-2mph, my fisker aggressively applied emergency braking.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 24V404000 (Electrical System), 24V405000(Electrical System), and 24V499000 (Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the failure was related to the recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was unreachable. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. VIN tool unable to retrieve recall information.
The 2 LCD screens that display all car data from speed to navigation to charging to safety features have all gone dark. My Fisker Ocean One only had 1485 miles on it when this screen failure occurred. I cannot tell how much change the car has. I cannot tell how fast I am driving.
The vehicle accelerates when foot is off accelerator and vehicle going over a small bump on road that causes the vehicle to lift a little. This lifting causes the vehicle to accelerate without warning. The accelerate is quite sudden and at high speeed. The ADAS system often malfunction. Emergency breaking has engaged on several occasions on low speeds. Lane keep system often malfunctions. Collison prevention system has issued warnings on numerous occasions when foot off accelerator and vehicle slowing down and at least 1/2 to 1 car length behind a vehicle.
There are two display screens in the Fisker Ocean. One is small, in front of the driver. The second screen is mounted center of the dashboard. About 4 weeks ago I experienced a complete failure of the larger center information screen, which includes control over settings, navigation, bluetooth connections, phone calling, audio channels, charging (amps) settings, trip meters, odometer, owner's manual and A/C control. This renders the vehicle undrivable in the typical Texas day -- NO Air conditioning! I have sent numerous emails to the help/support line and have called Fisker. I have an incident / case number but no response from the company about how to fix this. Case [XXX] There are also numerous warnings, alarms, beeps and resets while the car is being driven. Periodically, both screens go blank, causing the driver to wonder if the car will stop abruptly in traffic. I drive this car daily only in my neighborhood at slow speeds to check status of this condition. It has not improved since May 17. I am afraid of driving this car on the highway or any street where there is traffic. I am awaiting someone from Fisker to fix this dangerous condition. The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V499000(Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer and manufacturer were unable to be contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had experienced the failure and the vehicle was inoperable. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 1.
Door Locking Mechanism Malfunction - When the vehicle stops, sometimes the doors won't unlock. From the inside or the outside of the car. Safety was affected because I could not exit the car, and if it was an emergency that would be very bad. The problem has been confirmed by other owners. It has not been inspected on my car and there were no messages or anything that let me know this was happening.
Car will not move, gear selection is stuck in park since May 2024 when OTA software update bricked the car. Problem confirmed by Fisker Indianapolis, without resolution.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated while approaching a red light or a stop sign at approximately 10 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed while releasing the accelerator pedal, and the contact drove over a pothole or an object in the road and the vehicle accelerated at high speed, and then returned to normal operation. The contact was concerned that the failure might cause a crash. No warning light was illuminated. The contact also stated that occasionally while the vehicle was parked and attempting to unlock the vehicle, the key fob failed to connect to the vehicle leaving the contact with no other option but to unlock the vehicle manually. No warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed with the seat belt engaged, the vehicle made a beeping sound as if the seat belt was not securely fastened. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven back to the residence. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.
Based on NHTSA recall campaign numbers 24V865000, 24V405000 and 24V623000, I was supposed to receive over the air updates that was to fix braking issues with my vehicle, as well as other issues with the driver's assistance features. I have not received these updates yet. I do have regular issues with the regenerative breaking cutting out, and would like to receive these OTA updates as soon as possible. According to the Fisker Owners Association: Every week of OTA updates has had vehicles whose owners have reported them as undrivable afterward (~2%-5% usually). Windows are 48 hrs long, car is unusable for the entire window. Partial updates are expected, and another 48 hrs may be required to complete. Complete updates (correct sounds and all), per owner surveys, have been under 30%. One set of numbers shared with FOA, and then shared with owners, was that only ~10% of the fleet (~300) was updated after 5 weeks of attempts and over 800 VINs submitted for attempt. There are only ~20 US service people available for the entire country, and only ~5 travel nationwide to fix our vehicles when a car is undrivable. VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY "BRICKS" VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SHIFTS FROM DRIVE TO PARK WHILE AT A RESTING STOP I.E. STOPLIGHT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INTERIOR
My Fisker has had multiple issues from the beginning. Seat sensor does not allow you to shift the car into drive or reverse. I had to shake my butt to get it into gear. There are at times that when I drive it goes into park for no reason. When it comes to braking it does this skip feeling which is very alarming. ADA notifications are constantly alerting (pretty much daily) where Auto Emergency Braking, Blind Spot warning, Forward Collision Warning are not working on a daily basis, especially in rain and when the sun rises and sets - it is a constant distraction. So n a nutshell here are the major issues: - ADA alerts constantly - When braking there is skipping (not all the time but more so when you really have to quickly brake - Seat sensor in the seat - must shake your butt to get it into gear due to it not being in the right place perhaps? (it's been serviced twice) - Skipping while braking hard -Fob key lags a lot, I believe it's a safety issue that you can't get in your car when needed especially in areas that are not so nice and as a female you should not be scared if your car will open or not - Not a safety issue but I do want to point out my vents turn on high and hot every time I get in the vehicle and need to turn it off
1.“Brake system failure “ warning has been com By on since I received the vehicle in November 2023, Fisker techs have been out 4 times to fix but it keeps happening. 2.Door locks- I have been trapped in the car and another incident that my [XXX] son was trapped in the car, on video my sons incident. Again, Fisker had been out 4 times to ny house and the doors are still malfunctioning I can’t get the car open and being trapped in the car and the car is off, we live in Florida and it’s crazy hot. 3. Lane Departure assistance and drivers bound spot assistance are malfunctioning and warning lights coming on constantly. There has been 2 instances where the vehicle Automatic emergency system engaged abruptly, there was no immediate danger, the system thought there was something infront where there wasn’t. It was a hard brake that we almost crashed and hit our heads on the windshield, Fisker had not responded to several tickets submitted, their phone for support it’s not working our their chat
We are getting a grinding noise when vehicle is decelerating, when re-gen is engaged but the vehicle is going over pot holes , the re-gen releases the brakes and the vehicle rolls off, you don’t feel any deceleration anymore it has cause many scary situations, it feels like the vehicle is loosing the brakes. Also one our passenger s noticed the seatbelts are not retracting, I have placed several tickets with Fisker and we get no response, no contact, we have tried calling the phones and nothing, we have tried their chat service, nothing…
The ADAS system has constant problems. However, on [XXX] 2024 all ADAS systems failed during a road trip to Jacksonville, Florida. I charged the car to 100% for the first time. All ADAS and the HVAC quit working. The car has had a repeated Ultrasonic Sensor Fault Warning nearly constantly every sense. In addition, the blind spot warning sometimes identifies cars and sometimes it does not. I have video of all of this. Brakes: The brake pedal occasionally oscillates while being depressed. This feels like a tickle and causes uncertainty of control while braking. Speed Control: Loss of speed control experienced during abrupt change in road level (in a construction zone). Loss of speed control engaged regenerative braking causing a sharp decrease in vehicle speed and stopping hazard to vehicles behind mine. Blind Spot Warning: Activates often while driving toward rising or setting sun or other very bright lights. Numerous audible and visual indicators from this warning are a distraction while driving and cause heightened awareness and fatigue. Car is available for inspection. No inspection has been initiated at this time. Dealers are not available as Fisker, Inc. is bankrupt. Similar safety incidents and others have been reported on this make and model of vehicle in the Fisker Owners Association forum.
I was driving and I received a drive motor failure. I lost all ability to accelerate and once under 7 mph the car shuddered to a stop. The dash shut down immediately. After exiting the vehicle and locking it, I rendered and the car seemed operational. I drove again to try to return home with the same issue occurring. I repeated this process with my emergency lights on to get the vehicle the remaining 2 miles home with the error happening a total of 4-5 times with one time showing a shifter error. In all cases, I needed to find a safe place to pull into while I waited for the reset to occur.
After experiencing multiple brake failures and reduced power, now the cruise control is reporting incorrect values. Setting the cruise control to 42mph yields 70mph. This is dangerous and unsafe as you do not know what to expect.
Fisker’s long-awaited 2.0 software update failed to correct the frequent failures of emergency braking and regenerative braking (ADAS features such as lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, forward facing camera are also regularly malfunctioning) two new problems presented themselves; the car will throw itself into park apparently when it registers a traffic light shift from red to green (as I have been waiting at a light all 4 times this has happened it puts me in danger of rear end collisions) and the downward motion of the brake in one instance was limited to about 1/2” meaning all braking I did was done in short quick choppy bursts. The pedal felt like it was pressing down on something stuck beneath it (there wasn’t anything there.) For this reason I have filed Lemon Law paperwork with an attorney in CA, a Better business Bureau complaint in CA and have leased a new car because I no longer feel safe driving the Fisker ocean one. The problems all appear to be software related, the company no longer responds to service requests and they have already attempted fixes on the car four separate times in the 5 months I’ve owned it.
I have sent two service requests to Fisker Inc. for a critical safety failure. The rear drivers side door will not unlock. I have verified it is not in child lock. If I ever have to access my grandkids quickly, it will become a serious situation. I have also sent Fisker a video of the problem. There are other multiple issues with this 6 month old vehicle. Key fob does not work as intended. Car will go into Park on its own. Driver attn. camera never worked. Rear cabin light stays on. Multiple other software issues.
The loss of regenerative braking that I have experienced over uneven roads. While driving over a speed bump, slightly bumpy road, and gravel, the vehicle accelerates without me having pushed anything. As a driver, I feel like I am out of control of my vehicle. No warning lights or alerts come on when it happens. When I say uneven roads, I am driving over minor uneven terrain, not large potholes or bumps. This issue continues to endanger my life. The most concerning incident happened when I was coming down a hill preparing to stop at a stop sign that was parallel to a very busy street and my vehicle lurched forward. Luckily, I was just far enough away that I did not end up in oncoming traffic. I have repeatedly requested servicing for this issue and on every occasion Fisker has stated that its engineers are aware of the issue and they do not have a solution, so Fisker is not able to service my vehicle. From speaking with Fisker technicians and reading, I understand that the regenerative braking suddenly turns off over uneven terrain so the expected deceleration does not happen and instead the vehicle is lurched forward. I have owned the vehicle since February 24, 2024, and I have experienced the issue on 5 occasions. My vehicle was updated with the latest 2.0 software (and all attached modules) on April 24, 2024, and I have experienced the sudden loss of regenerative braking since receiving that update. I would gladly make the vehicle available for inspection upon request.
Cascading brake failures while driving. ABS unavailable. Regenerative braking unavailable causing the brake pedal to be really heavy and hard to stop. Parking brake warning. Tire pressure monitoring error. Traction control error (esc). Loud pump or motor noise coming from the rear when parked when failure occurs. Have video of this noise. This error is also causing the rear drive motor to not engage, causing half the power vehicle is supposed to have and front wheel drive only.
The regenerative braking doesn't work when I hit a bump. There is a bump that can't be avoided in my route to my house. Every single time, without fail, when I hit that bump my regenerative braking goes out and more stopping time is required for me. This is especially dangerous because this bump is near a traffic light. If I have to slam on my brakes to avoid running a light (which has happened a few times) I have very little stopping time available and have nearly rear-ended and/or ran a traffic light on accident due to this failure of the brakes. Additionally, when this happens and I press the brakes to help slow me down there is a "hiccup" feeling where it feels like neither the regenerative nor even the normal braking is working. This lasts for about 1.5 seconds.
I was coming to an intersection. The regen braking system was activated. As I went to apply brakes hit a bump and brakes went soft and car would not slow down. Luckily no one was in front of me as I had to just go through the intersection onto an on ramp.
On around 5/8/24 I lost the use of horn, have an air bag warning failure, ADS warning, loss of controls on steering wheel.
Several times this has happened while driving, I will brake and the car suddenly accelerates instead. Reporting the last incident.
I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding ongoing issues that are being seen with the NHTSA recall campaign numbers 24V865000 and 24V623000. Specifically, the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) in my vehicle, which is distracting and dangerous due to an incomplete or failed 2.2 Over-The-Air (OTA) update is a huge concern. As a responsible driver, I value the safety of not only myself but also those around me, and this situation and others we constantly hear about make me question the process of the recall. Every week, a number of vehicles are reported as undrivable post-OTA updates, with statistics indicating that approximately 2%-5% of owners experience this issue. With 48-hour update windows, my vehicle becomes unusable for an extended period, which is highly inconvenient and concerning. Moreover, I've noted that partial updates are expected, potentially extending this downtime by another 48 hours. I have had a partial update that has left my vehicle in worse shape than before, what could happen if the process is tried again? This inconsistent performance is not only frustrating, but also poses a serious inconvenience to scheduling and executing such a process. Owner surveys suggest that comprehensive updates, which should resolve these issues, have been successfully completed in under 30% of vehicles which were attempted. Additionally, the alarming figures shared indicate that only around 10% of the fleet has been updated in over five weeks, despite submitting over 800 Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs). This inefficiency raises serious questions about the reliability of the process. Furthermore, the fact that there are only approximately 20 service personnel available nationwide, with a mere five traveling to assist customers whose cars are rendered undrivable, is simply unacceptable. This lack of support exacerbates an already troubling situation. Given these circumstances, I urge you to address these issues promptly and transparently.
2023 Fisker SUV Door Handle Malfunction, I am submitting this complaint regarding a critical safety issue with my 2023 Fisker SUV involving the interior and exterior door handles failing to open. This malfunction has resulted in passengers, including myself, being locked inside the vehicle, unable to exit manually or from the outside. Details of the Issue: Component Failure: The door handles fail to operate, preventing entry and exit. - Safety Risk: This poses a serious safety hazard, as occupants are trapped inside the vehicle, risking harm in an emergency situation. - Reproduction/Inspection: The issue has occurred multiple times and is not an isolated incident. I am requesting an official investigation to determine whether this defect is widespread. - Warning Signs: No warning lamps or alerts appeared before the failure. Given the life-threatening nature of this defect, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue thoroughly and ensure appropriate safety measures are taken. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise on any necessary next steps.
The brakes fail to operate when brake regeneration is active while driving over rough road surfaces. The brake pedal must be applied a second time in order to engage the power brake system.
On May 5, 2024 three passengers were locked in the rear seat of the vehicle. The door lock button in the car would not unlock the rear passenger doors, nor would the remote, nor would trying to open the door with the handle. Approximately 1.5 hours later, the rear doors unlocked. However, the rear passenger overhead lights would not turn off.
* Front air vents are not working. Yes, it is available for inspection upon request. They are closed by default and there is no physical lever to control the vent. Since the vents are broken inside, they cannot be controlled from central screen. I had to pry open the vents each time when I get in a car manually with a pen or a screwdriver. And they may get closed again shortly after. * Due to extreme heat in TX weather. It is unbearable to travel in the car. Especially with kids or pets. * Fisker customer service and Fisker technician acknowledged the issue and informed that this happens to all cars that are produced prior to November 2023. I am supposed to get it fixed but as the company is in the process of bankruptcy proceedings, there is no hope to get the replacement part. Customer service phone, email, chat are not working. At the moment there is no way to contact Fisker customer service, nor can be fixed by any technician or dealer without the replacement parts.
Exterior door handle, interior door handle, latching/locking mechanism on rear driver-side door. The exterior door handle started sticking and not retracting upon locking the car or upon driving it. Over a couple of months, the door stopped opening from the inside and outside. The door has not opened since July 2024, which is a safety issue if one needs to exit the car in an emergency. There is an active recall for this item, but no parts have been available since the recall announcement in June 2024.
The most critical issue is a malfunction in the vehicle's regenerative braking system, which has caused the car to lurch forward unexpectedly during stop-and-go traffic on several occasions since I purchased . This sudden and unpredictable acceleration poses a clear risk of collision and injury to both the vehicle's occupants and other road users. Despite several attempts to have Fisker diagnose and repair this braking defect over the past six months, the issue persists, leaving me with a vehicle that is unsafe to operate in normal driving conditions. Fisker's inability to resolve this problem in a timely manner raises concerns about a potentially widespread defect affecting other 2023 Fisker Ocean vehicles. Compounding my concerns are the numerous warning messages that have appeared on the vehicle's dashboard, including "Auto Emergency Braking unavailable - Drive carefully" and "Brake system malfunction - Service is required." These alerts, combined with the actual performance issues I have experienced, strongly suggest that there are significant problems with the braking system that could have catastrophic consequences if left unaddressed. I am aware that the NHTSA has already opened a Preliminary Evaluation (PE24001) into alleged braking performance issues in 2023 Fisker Ocean vehicles, and I believe my experience provides further evidence of the seriousness and scope of this problem. The fact that Fisker has not been able to effectively repair my vehicle despite multiple attempts underscores the need for a thorough investigation and a buy-back from Fisker. In addition to the braking issues, I have also experienced other concerning problems with my Fisker Ocean, including phantom battery drain, a malfunctioning camera, and a non-functional solar roof. Please expedite this so that i can get another car to safely drive my children to school.
