Over the past the month the vehicle has expereinced a sudden loss of power/ complete electrical failure twice. The first was in a parking space in a parking lot, the second was in the middle of busy intersection. Both times were promted by the vehicle's automatic start/stop function.
This vehicle was taken into a Ford Dealership for service. A mechanic friend of mine drove the car and said, he thought it might be the right front cv axle. The ford service department said that it was a vent hose sending contaminated fluid to the rear deferential. The service guy said he is seeing this a lot with 2021 Broncos. This problem doesn't seem to be covered under the Powertrain Warranty and there doesn't seem to be a recall on this issue. The service department wants to charge almost $1400.00 to fix a problem that seems to be a manufacturing issue. I feel that Ford needs to look into this and correct the issue, because we don't really have that kind of money laying around, but because the car is close to 60 thousand miles, I'm sure Ford will not do anything but it's too late to be covered. I have to get it fixed.
After fueling up at a gas station, my 2021 Ford Bronco Sport would not start. When I tried, all of the lighted features started strobing, flashing, and cycling through very quickly on my panel. I called Roadside Assistance, and they jumped me. It was a 50-minute drive home, so it gave the vehicle ample time to recharge. The next day, it would not start. I am waiting for a Roadside to jump me again so I can take it to the dealership. (Suggestion: ability to load video.)
exhibits a chatter/shudder during low speed turning events. This may be due to contamination of the Rear Drive Unit (RDU) fluid through the RDU vent hose. To correct the condition I have to follow the Service Procedure to replace the RDU vent hose. the drain tube for the rear differential gets clogged from road debris and dirt gets into rear differential. The repair is rerouting drain tube (new part) and changing fluid.
I was backing out of a parking lot of my employment on the early evening of 8.22.24. I heard the familiar whale moaing noise coming from the rear brakes ( has been in and out of the Ford Shop for to address this know issue; still no permanent solution), I immediately noticed when I went to touch the brake pedal it would not push down. The pedal was stiff and required me to heavily push down to get the vehicle to stop. I noticed a severe grinding noise. Fortunately I was able to turn my car back around and safely park it. I pushed the parking brake button and it was not on and then it would not go off. It finally did after several minutes. A friend who knows cars went back with me to look at what could possibly be wrong. He looked under the hood and found a broken vacuum line. I have pictures. I left the vehicle and went home to research. I found a 2021 Compliance Recall Notice 21C31/NHTSA Recall 21V922. I purchased this Bronco Sport used in the fall of 2022 and do not recall knowing of any recalls, including if this specific one was performed on my vehicle . This recall correlates to what happened to my vehicle. It looks like the vacuum booster failed, wore out and caused my automatic brakes to fail. There was no warning lights or indicators that anything was faulty up until the incident. The vehicle has had regular maintenance and has been in to Ford Service to address the most current recalls and TSB's issued since I've had possession. This shook me up . I am so lucky I was not driving at a high speed and in traffic. Things could have been a lot worse. I am deeply concerned about this vehicles safety profile. There seems to be a pattern with this make a model concerning various components including the brakes. I this point I need it fixed so I can look at trading it in for a reliable and safe alternative. I am attaching pictures as well and the recall notice that I found a a Ford Forum from an owner who received this back when the issue originated.
Vacuum Booster Line Detached (Broke Off) from the Vacuum booster Unit. This happened when I was pulling out onto the road and noticed brake became stiff. Could not get vehicle to stop without forceful pressing of brake. Fortunately I was not in traffic but did have cars behind which had to slow to wait for me to pull over. I could have been rear ended. There was no warning or symptoms of this failure. Dealership had it towed and replaced the vacuum line. The service advisor said this was the first he's seen this in the line of Broncos. I have seen several of the same stories on Bronco Forums. This is a known problem. At barely 40K this should not happen and should be part of the Power Train. I had to pay nearly $450 for the diagnostic, part and repair as it is out of warranty
I was in the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma on the freeway and my entire dashboard lights went out. It went black. I did not know what that meant and was scared to death that my car was just going to stop running on the freeway! I have read online that many many other people are experiencing this problem. After they recalibrated my system for the last recall this all started happening. A warning comes up saying charging system service now and the battery light flickers on for a minute and then it goes away. When it happened on the freeway at night all of the lights on my dash just totally went black. It needs to be addressed and fixed. Ford has no idea what it is and wants to charge us all kinds of money to try to figure it out. I just saw jeeps and rams were recalled for a similar issue. Why aren’t the fords being recalled??
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while attempting to open the rear windshield, the lever on the windshield detached from the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact was unable to close the rear windshield and had to use a bungee cord to secure the windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the liftgate windshield assembly needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
On 1/23/24, car was serviced for an electrical fault with the fuel pump control module which was confirmed via a vehicle alert. On 6/12/24, car was serviced for a software update recall. (I believe this was in relation to the fuel injector issue.) On 7/4/24, the car would not start but kept clicking trying to start. White smoke started coming out from under the hood. Panicked, we called the fire department and my niece's husband disconnected the battery so that the car would quit trying to start in an effort to mitigate a full fire. We could smell burning and fuel. The fire department even confirmed something smelled like it had burned but there was no active fire, so they told us to leave the battery disconnected and have it towed. I had the car towed to the dealership for $249. (Of which Ford only reimbursed me $140) My car sat for 2 weeks before Ford service confirmed the fuel injectors needed to be replaced as part of the 22N18 recall, but also said the battery was bad. Prior to this incident, I had 0 issues other than the issue in January. I had no notifications of battery issues in my app, no dimming of lights, etc. I had to pay over $300 to replace the battery so Ford could do "further testing" since I was a month out of the 36 month warranty. I picked up my car on 7/26/24 and when I started it in the bay, I smelled burning and even asked a different employee who confirmed he smelled it, and we were told by the manager that it was "old fuel burning off." He assured me the car was fine. I noticed my car being slow to start and having an odd issue whenever I turned, like a rubbing sound and it still had a burning smell even though I had to pay Ford to replace the cabin air filter. This was all new. Then, 8/18/24, my car again would not start, all the electrical lit up and the brakes were locked up. My car started smoking again under the hood as it kept trying to start. We could hear sounds like it was trying to start. Again, car is being towed to Ford.
In 2021 i purchased a brand new Bronco Sport Big Bend with the hopes that it will last as long as the previous Bronco models. Unfortunately, 3 years later i took the vehicle to a Ford dealership, and to my surprise the transmission needs to be replaced. Being a vehicle that is regularly driven by my pregnant wife is an issue that Ford needs to be accountable for. There were no engine lights on, the only warning was a noise i noticed when driving the vehicle myself in the highway. I understand that transmission failed throughout the course of the years, but to a 3 year old Ford Bronco Sport is just ridiculous and not safe at all. The vehicle is currently at the dealership, Ford has agreed to pay 5k towards the replacement but i still have to come up with more than 7k to get it fix. If i knew i would be having Transmission issues so early in the life of the vehicle, i wouldn't have purchased a new car in the first place. This is definitely a safety hazard and i am sure this is not the only Bronco Sport with a torque converter being faulty, causing the transmission to slip.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH and making a right turn, the vehicle was vibrating and shaking abnormally. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway and turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the shaking ceased. The contact stated that the failure had become a persistent failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the contact heard a loud popping sound coming from the engine compartment, after which the vehicle turned off and was unable to be restarted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the battery. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 19,000.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle for the State inspection, the State inspector informed the contact that the gateway module of the vehicle failed to communicate with the inspection equipment, and the vehicle could not be inspected. The contact stated that the failure had previously occurred. The contact related the failure to Ford Customer Satisfaction Program Number: 22N15 (Gateway Module Reprogramming for Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) Testing). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
Verified noise concern, found TSB 24-2185 This may be due to contamination of the rear drive unit (rdu) fluid through the rdu vent hose. To correct the condition, follow the service procedure to replace the rdu vent hose. SAFETY CONCERN IS THE POWERTRAIN. HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AT FORD DEALERSHIP.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that the infotainment screen was erratic before the failure. The contact stated that the hazard lights were inoperable. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the water pump needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that the failure was due to a design flaw. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
No warning lamps I believe this is covered under the powertrain warranty, however mine expired 4K miles ago. Excessive shuddering and pull at low speeds while executing turns. Progressively getting worse, inspected by Ford Dealer Shop and told to replace RDU vent hose and fluid. Sooner than later to prevent failure or other damage.
Currently at 30,000 miles. Water pump goes out every 10k miles, rear differential went out, front control arm and strut went out.
In August of 2024, my vehicle shut down after sitting at a red light. The vehicle would not turn back on nor could I put it in neutral to move it out of the way of traffic. It was explained to me that the battery was bad and had to be replaced when I took it in for service the next day. A recall was placed on my vehicle yesterday related to battery issues and I suspect my prior battery had the same issue as referenced in the recall. My car at the time was under 40,000 miles.
On days when it rains or the weather is slightly cold/dewy, the Ford Bronco seems to make a screech/horn-like sound only when reversing. I found some online forum links (listed below) where other Ford users seem to describe the similar issue we're experiencing. This is the second dealership that we have taken the vehicle to be serviced for the issue, but they have both stated there is nothing they can do because the issue has not been issued as a recall. [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] The first dealership visited for service was: Metro Ford Sales & Service, Inc. Address: 6455 S Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60636 The second dealership visited for service was: Napleton Ford of Oak Lawn Address: Address: 6100 W 95th St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 The attachment includes the most recent appointment visit. Unfortunately, I cannot provide an invoice at this time because the vehicle is still at the dealership (10 days after taking it in). I visited the dealership yesterday (08/12/2024) where I was informed that the the service technician working on my car is in the hospital. Had I not visited, then I probably would not have known this, and the other service technician I spoke to said they could not share any more details since they were not part of the servicing for my car. Martin Garcia (mgarc520@ford.com) is supposed to be the middle-man between me and the dealership to help me address the issue, but I have not received information from his end either. When I called the Ford's number using (866) 631-3788 to get a hold of Martin Garcia, someone else assisted and I was told that he would call me tomorrow (08/14/2024) to give him an update on what the dealership shared with me. “When attempting to start the parked Ford Bronco, the vehicle emitted a clicking sound, and a brake system error warning appeared on the monitor. Shortly afterward, smoke began pouring out from the engine bay. The fire department was called and disconnected the battery to prevent further damage. It was later determined that the battery, despite being dead, continued to send signals to the alternator and starter, which caused the alternator to burn out and the drive belt to melt.”
Loss of power. I was traveling after work and heading to family’s resident. I was on the freeway and noticed the engine light come on then followed by a loss of power. The slightest 1 degree difference incline had the vehicle lose 20-30 mph while on a highway of 65 mph limit. I turned around the it made every little climb dangerous to drive. Luckily I was heading back home while it was nearing midnight. The freeway was especially free of the normal traffic. Im glad I made it home safely but the slightest incline while on a 75 mph limit freeway was dangerous when I dropped to 35-40 mph. I took my vehicle in to the dealership. Upon a diagnosis, they found the solenoid to have short circuited. Last thing I heard today from the service advisor was the part needed is now on back order.
While driving on the highway at 65 mph the vehicle completely shut off. All electrical components stopped working as well. After the recall was “fixed” it still randomly will not turn on. This car is a horrifying death trap and should be recalled completely, this is incredibly unacceptable for use and terrifying to drive. I was lucky there were no other cars around me at the time.
June 2024, I received mail for safety recall notice re: 24S24/NHTSA 24V267. July 16, 2024, went to ford to have it fixed. Ford said everything works good. [XXX] @1450, Me and my son [XXX] old) drove to freeway in [XXX] and my car just suddenly stopped. No electrical power at all. Even the hazard lights doesnt work. Need to call 911 for safety. I was in the middle of the freeway for about 15 mins. Speed limit in the freeway is 65 miles/hr. I was so scared because I have my son with me and anytime somebody might hit our car. I had to call towing and sent to the livermore ford dealership. (Thats where i bought my car). My bronco sport will be paid off this november 2024, now im scared driving in the freeway especially i drove 40 miles one way, going to my work. What if it will happen again? Especially if it happens at night time? I work 7pm-7am. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the accelerator pedal was depressed all the way to the floorboard and the RPM increased quickly but the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle vibrated violently with an abnormal humming sound coming from underneath the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V267000 (Electrical System, Power Train); the VIN was included, but the vehicle had already been repaired. The contact also stated that the failure started following the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 30,000.
My 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend had an acute and complete power failure. I stopped for a red traffic light and was waiting to turn and my brake popped under my foot and my vehicle lost all power. It would not restart and I was broke down in the middle lane of traffic with no ability to have hazards or any kind of power. This is with approximately 27,000 miles on the vehicle that I just recently purchased. As a single lady with her quad amputee son in the car, this was very scary and certainly concerning. Ford states my vehicle has no recalls, yet this seems to be a regularly occurring issue with this specific make and model. Can this possibly be looked into and more vehicles added to this recall? Thank God I wasn’t actually in motion when I lost power. I had to have my vehicle towed to my home and now I have nothing to drive and am told my 3year/36,000 mile warranty expired a few months ago due to age, not mileage. Ford should’ve reported this, but I figured it needs to be heard again and again until this problem is corrected and unsuspecting motorists aren’t left stranded or put into any unnecessary danger at the hand of a vehicle manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the steering seized, and brakes were inoperable. Additionally, the instrument panel independently shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where there BCM and PCM software updates were performed. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact declined to pay for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
The vehicle was traveling on a major highway when at a red light the car stopped and the auto start/stop engaged and the car turned off. After the car turned off I could not restart it. All power to the car was lost. No lights, radio, nothing. I attempted to put the car in neutral to move it off the highway, however the car is designed in a way it can not simply just be shifted into neutral. I grabbed the owners manual and read I needed to pull the manual park release cable located under the steering wheel. I pull the cable nothing. At this point I’ve called the local police department and they send out 2 officers. They attempt to shift the car into neutral as well, to no luck. I read the electronic parking break needs to be turned off but the car needs power to do this. My car has no power. A man comes with a jumper box and attempts to jump the car when it starts smoking. The battery has full voltage however it’s not transferring power to the car. I have to sit in the middle of a highway for 2 hours until a tow truck can tow my car. In those 2 hours I was at a significant risk of bodily and property damage and also risking harm to the other drivers on the road. Ford has no suggestion how to fix my specific problem. They’ve not taken into account a situation where there is no power to turn off the electronic parking break, to pull the cable and shift the car into neutral. The Ford service department had no idea how to replicate the situation to try and fix it. All I asked Ford for was a way to safely be able to remove my car from the middle of traffic the next time it happens. They have told me they can not help me. The Delaware city police department sent two officers who witnessed the event. Prior to the loss of power there was no warning. $1000 later I had a new starter put in and Ford did some recall work on it. However in my opinion the car is unsafe in the event power is lost again on the road.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the windshield washer fluid was leaking out of the front camera. The windshield fluid warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer informed the contact that a cause for the failure was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
The rear axle differential. The rear axle is making a bumping and grinding noise upon acceleration and when turning at low speed as if the axle is going to fail. It happens during right and left turns but right turns are worse. The vehicle was taken in for diagnostics, and there is a TSB for suggested repairs. The parts needed to be ordered.
Recall notice 24S24 was completed on 6/14/2024 as notified. However, due to the recall vehicle did not notify me of low battery issue. Since low battery alert was never indicated at any time, I did not have the opportunity to replace with a fresh battery (which would have been done of course) resulting in dealership having to install a new battery at a significantly above general cost ($350.00 vs approx $200.00 or less) had service been by another company of my choosing. Replacement of battery should be covered in full (at N/C). This issue should be added to this recall since it is an over & above expense to customer. At the very least, dealership should deeply discount cost of battery replacement, not at full retail cost. Because the BCM module, PCM failed, a continuous drain of battery powered existed when vehicle was not in use. IE: the battery drained fully & was unable to jump started nor recharge when in operation. When not in use continued to "turn l light on/off, alarm alerts, lock/unlock doors, attempt to start" when turned off. This will clearly drain any battery to the point where it cannot be recharged even if it a brand new battery. Again, all systems were turned off (vehicle not running) yet battery continued to drain. Fortunately my case did not result in a crash or injury since it was off & in my drive, but it very well could have during driving (battery drains completely, vehicle can stall & shut down).
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while parked and opening the liftgate on the trunk of the vehicle, the ball that held the driver's side rear liftgate detached. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear driver's side liftgate and the glass on the windshield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,500.
Complained numerous times about a clunk noise art parking lot speeds Finally on my Ford dealer 7/10/24 they diagnosed TSB 24-2185 and had me pay $433.53 to replace Vent Hose not covered under my powertrain warranty My mileage was 48986 on that date If part was labeled as RDU Vent hose why not covered under power train warranty? The day I was there, they has another Bronco in with this same issue they told me The service department told they wouldn't be surprised if thus became a recall. I don't see any recall to this day for this issue Ford knows about
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that after a year of driving the vehicle, the battery was drained upon an attempt to start the vehicle. The contact was forced to jumpstart the battery to drive the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and paid out-of-pocket to replace the battery. The contact stated that almost two weeks later, the battery failure returned and the was taken back to the same dealer. The contact was provided a loaner vehicle while the dealer inspected the battery. The vehicle was returned several days later because the dealer found no defect with the battery. The contact recently stated that upon starting the vehicle, the failure returned. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V019000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available; the contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was 21,626. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Vehicle completely died in the middle of operation. All lights came on and then the vehicle completely shut off. Reverse camera comes on and stays on while driving forward from time to time. I have this on video as well.
I own a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport that has had repeated premature failures of critical components. At ~52,000 miles the water pump failed and was replaced along with coolant and belts. Less than 21,000 miles later (at ~73,000 miles) the water pump has failed again, with coolant leakage and a burning coolant smell. Ford has issued TSB 23-2104 acknowledging coolant leaks at the water pump/hose connection, yet no recall or extended coverage has been offered. This is not the only issue. My alternator has also failed twice and required multiple replacements in under 4 years of ownership. Having two major components (water pump and alternator) fail repeatedly within such a short period clearly shows a systemic defect, not normal wear and tear. Safety risks: coolant leaks can drip or vaporize onto hot engine components, creating a fire hazard. Alternator failure risks sudden loss of power and stalling in traffic. Both are unacceptable in a vehicle this new. The dealership confirmed the latest water pump diagnosis and quoted over $1,000 in labor alone, placing an unreasonable financial burden on the owner. This is the second water pump and second alternator within 73,000 miles. Ford and its dealers know this is an ongoing issue in Bronco Sports, as confirmed by widespread owner reports and TSBs, but continue to deny responsibility. A recall or customer satisfaction program should be issued to address these repeated failures.
Attempted to start car, screen behind steering wheel went black. Tried again, car went through several error messages but would not start. Gear shift and other lights flashed. Hazards did not work. No warnings prior to failure. Only after. This is the third time this has happened. The first two in busy intersections where the car stalled then went through multiple error messages. This time, thankfully, the problem occurred in my driveway. We will be towing back to matt bowers ford in the morning. Again. The previous times they ran checks, drove it and said they could not replicate the issue. Last time they put dielectric grease on the connectors. When I contacted ford I was given a case number and told I would be contacted in one business day. I was not. When I contacted ford again I was informed my case was closed and if I was concerned about the dealer’s work I should go elsewhere. Problem is the other dealer will charge me if my dealer messed up. They are also unable to look at my car for at least three weeks. The battery has been replaced once sine I bought the car in August 2021. The rear axle has also been replaced. I have brought it in for all recalls ( multiple) and kept up with recommended maintenance.
I took my vehicle in to have the flash system updated to pass the emissions test for Louisiana. Ford charged me over $200 for a failure on that system from purchase, and no dealership would get back to me until I took my vehicle across town to have the system reset. Hollingsworth Ford told me that this wouldn't be covered under their system because I took this in out of warranty, but this is a problem since vehicle purchase.
There has not been a specific accident or occurrence, but its an ongoing issue that can not get fixed. The dealerships don't have the parts, and can not get the parts. The rear breaks are horrible, yet one dealership is telling me it is unsafe to drive, yet no one can fix it. This is crazy, and comes down on Ford who seems to have a big problem with their vehicles, safety problems that they are not addressing. Whats the problem that they can not get this fixed or provide the parts? I'm stuck with this issue and don't know what to do.
Due to a defective original design, the vent hose for the read differential unit collects environmental contaminates and causes chatter and slipping in the differential. This can cause degredation of the gears which limits the ability to drive and control the car. See TSB 24-2185
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that on several occasions while making a left or right turn, the contact stated that the vehicle was shuddering with an abnormal grinding sound and vibration coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear differential unit vent hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
See attached document for complaint.
While driving with my [XXX] son in the vehicle, the vehicle suddenly shut down completely in the middle of the street at a red light. Nothing was functional and we were unable to move the vehicle out of the street. A tow truck came in 3 hours and towed the vehicle to the dealership. The dealership advised that it was the battery which they replaced. When merging lanes on the interstate with oncoming traffic, the gas accelerator would not accelerate to speed up. I had to step all the way down on it several times until the vehicle was finally able to accelerate. This has also occurred while at a red light and stop sign. AWD Module tested internally bad when assessed by local dealership. Vehicle was taken in for assessment after a software update recal was completed as vehicle then started stating vehicle had a powertain malfuntion, Pre-collision system was off, Hill.assist was off, Traction control was off, 4WD unavaialble, AWD unavailable. The dealership AND Ford Customer Service states that this was not covered under the warranty as it was not a powertrain malfunction but rather and electrical issue. I researched and found Customer Satisfaction Program 21B19- AWD Module Replacement was filed with NHTSA ID Number: 10191184. Which has my vehicle make, model and year stating that there was in fact a known issue. I was never notified of this issue and am now being told my problem is only electrical and not covered under my warranty resulting in me having to pay out of pocket to correct a KNOWN problem that has been documented.
Previous NHTSA ID Number. 11596944. Recall fix was run earlier this month. Car died at stoplight two days ago. Fix run again at dealership. Car died at red light again today. Was able to put car in park. Tried to restart. Multiple flashing warnings. Was able to get hazards on this time. Had car towed back to dealer. They are calling Ford. Second time this happened at busy intersection. This time at interstate on ramp. Bus driver attempting to turn got out of bud and offered to push the car but we could not get it in neutral. Tow driver had towed in a bronco sport right before us with the same issue. Someone is going to be seriously injured. Service guy showed me record of previous error messages. There were about twenty. I have a video of the screens flashing today.
I recently had the recalls addressed (despite having any issues with the vehicle). Days later, I noticed my vehicle would occasionally not detect my key fob. Changed battery without resolution. On 6/27/24, I was driving in rush hour traffic, and stopped with the red light. When the light turned green, I went to drive, and the car shut itself down. Everything shut down. Couldn't even turn on my hazards. While waiting for a tow truck, I received a tip to use the key fob to push the start button, and that actually worked. I took it to Ford, and they returned it 12 days later with updated modules (they stated they couldn't diagnose the issue which is fascinating to me considering the nature of the recalls and all the information I am able to find online). 10 days after having it back, the vehicle hesitated to start and displayed a 4wd fault error. Contacted Ford immediately. The next morning, I started the car and the errors were gone, but I still wanted to get it checked out, so headed towards Ford. Stopped for gas on my way, but after filling up the tank, my car wouldn't start again. This time far worse than the first time, as something under the hood starting making a clanking noise, and smoke started coming out from under the hood, and smelled like electrical fire. The noise continued to get louder, and the smoke more violent. Finally cut the battery cable since the car was smoking, at the gas pump, on a busy Saturday, minutes before noon. Very scary situation, especially with kids in the car. We are OK. We are safe. But holy crap!
My 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has had its water pump replaced twice. Most recently, in April 2024. In June of 2024, that water pump also failed. My Ford dealer then discovered "catastrophic" damage to the turbo and engine, including a possible cracked engine as the result of the vehicle overheating because of the lack of coolant circulation. This obvious defect in the Ford water pump resulted in a serious safety risk and potential for the engine to completely overheat and catch fire, threatening the occupants inside.
First, the car was brought in 6/2/24 to take care of the open recall. I am still receiving notices but the dealership assured me the recall dealing with the battery was addressed. I came to a stop at a red light and the car shut down (all screens black). I attempted to restart. Car would not start but the radio, wipers, and screens flashing warnings intermittently came on. Could not turn on hazard lights. I had to climb out of the passenger side to avoid traffic and then attempted to direct traffic around the car. (Red light is in a curve making it difficult to see stopped vehicle.). Waited about 30 minutes for my husband. He was able to start the car and pull out of the road. We were not comfortable driving it so had it towed to dealer. Prior to the shutdown there were no warnings. The car was running well prior to this incident. It is still at the dealer. They told me battery drain, communication issues, and that they could see the error messages that flashed after the shutdown. The car was purchased in August 2021. It has 15,479 miles on it and most recently is driven 5 miles per or less during the week. I can’t find the date but the battery has been changed once already. Had this happened on some of the other rides I drive, I would have been part of a terrible crash.
I received an error message from the car that stated "Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning". This issue was for the passenger side seat and made the car turn off the air bag as it couldn't confirm the seat belt was being used even though it was. Ford stated this issue would not be covered as the vehicle only has a 5 year or 60,000 mile safety coverage. After some research on Reddit, it appears this may be a bigger issue that is impacting the Bronco Sport and the Maverick.
Vehicle experienced complete shut down in the middle of the road while stopped at an intersection. Could not turn on hazard lights or put the car in neutral to move out of traffic. Car made a loud thumping noise when I attempted to restart. Vehicle was towed to dealership where I was initially told the battery just needed to be charged and it was ready to pick up. When I went to the dealership to retrieve my vehicle, it would not start and had the same error messages on screen and made the same loud thumping noise. Vehicle is currently still at the dealership and no answer as to when it will be fixed or what the issue is. Today is day 5 without my vehicle.
Keeps cutting off and my screen aswell.
