NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
My 2024 Ford Bronco Sport has had an open unrepaired safety recall (Ford 25S76 / NHTSA 25V467) for about 10 months. The recall states that a fuel injector may crack and create an under-hood fire risk. There is still no repair remedy available. Ford and the dealership have stated that they are trying to develop a solution until June 2026. This effectively means I am being told to continue driving a vehicle with a known fire risk for an unknown extended period of time. For the past 10 months, I have been driving this vehicle in fear. I use it every day to take my children to school, transport my family, and handle family responsibilities. I cannot afford to purchase another vehicle because I invested most of my money into this one. The dealership has not provided me with a clear solution or completed any repair related to this recall. I have also faced nearly $4,000 in mechanical repair costs on a vehicle with about 59,000 miles. I no longer feel safe or confident owning this vehicle. I am concerned that a fire could happen while driving or while parked, putting my family and surrounding property at risk.
Driving on [XXX] . I smelled gasoline. My entire car smelled of it. Next I got a notification to service my vehicle soon. I immediately pulled over and called two Ford dealerships. Downers Grove and Naperville. Neither helped. I located I was close to a dealership. I went there. This is where I learned that underneath my car, wires had caught fire. 225/65 R 17 A small sliver of wood Punctured the sidewall which is unbelievable that a tire would be that weak from what appears to be a blunt puncture on a Ford Bronco Sport made for all kinds of off and on road driving conditions and something as small as a flattened tooth pick would be sufficient as a safe tire. Looking at continental tires track record with sidewall rubber structural issues I suspect this is another defect and should be investigated and recalled before causing property damage ,serious injury or death due to sidewall issues .
How long do they have to complete repairs for this recall? This is an ongoing problem going back to Ford Escapes with the same problem going back to 2020. 6 years should be sufficient time for them to have come up for a solution for this recall.
Our 2024 Bronco Sport Outer Banks, 1.5 liter engine, purchased new from a Ford dealer 11/2024, serviced at the dealership and driven less than 14k miles, was destroyed by a spontaneous fire 3/22/2026. After driving 12 miles, we parked in a parking lot. Upon exiting the car we noticed a burning smell and saw small plumes of steam or smoke coming from under the car hood. Within a minute a red/orange disc of heated metal became visible on the hood surface as flames came from under the hood. Seven minutes later the fire department arrived extinguishing the fire. The car was destroyed. There were no warnings of any kind. The events suggest a cracked fuel injector. Even though 15 foot flames engulfed the car it was parked and unoccupied, there were no injuries. The results of the investigation have not been reported to us. CCTV footage was obtained from the police.
The contact rented a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-35 MPH, the hood flew open, struck and cracked the windshield, completely obstructing the driver's visibility. The contact pulled over to the curb and then into a parking lot. The contact stated that he was disabled, and that the failure was significantly frightening. The contact was shaking for 30 minutes after the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was a replacement rental vehicle that the car rental company had provided after the initial rental vehicle shuddered and stalled while driving. The vehicle was towed to Enterprise Rental Car. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The battery has failed three times. Took it to a dealer in El Paso, Texas and they told us they put in a new battery which they lied. They did not. They charge the battery. Then we’ve took the car again to a dealer in San Antonio and they told us that there were some type of short in the battery, so they recharged the battery and fixed it, they lied again. Today the car will not start, the car is only a year and a half old and the dealer does not want to replace the battery, they want to recharge it again. This battery keeps leaving us stranded everywhere. It’s happening every two weeks.
Clonninger Auto Body Shop 511 Jake Alexander Blvd S Salisbury NC 28147 The 2024 Bronco Sport owned by Megan Michaels was presented to our service department with a customer concern of a rattling noise coming from the rear of the vehicle, along with abnormal tire wear on the rear tires. Our Master Technician performed a road test and verified a clunking/rattling noise originating from the left rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was then lifted, and a comprehensive inspection of the rear suspension system was completed. During inspection, it was determined that the left rear lower control arm mounting point at the body has structurally failed. The mounting location where the control arm attaches to the body has separated from the vehicle’s floor structure, allowing the control arm to shift from its proper position into the body cavity where it should normally be securely supported. This condition has caused: Excessive movement within the rear suspension system The confirmed clunking/rattling noise Abnormal rear tire wear due to improper alignment and instability Cause of Failure: The failure is the result of a structural separation of the lower control arm mounting point from the vehicle’s body. This is a failure of the vehicle’s structural floor assembly and is not related to a replaceable suspension component. Required Repair: Due to the extent of the structural damage, the vehicle will require replacement of the complete floor pan assembly in order to restore proper mounting integrity of the suspension system and ensure safe vehicle operation. If you have any questions or require additional documentation, please contact our service department directly.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was a ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact smelled a fuel odor. The Mobile App indicated that the VIN was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V455000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and a software update was performed related to the recall, but the dealer confirmed that parts were still not yet available. The dealer also informed the contact that metal shavings were found in the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the muffler had failed and needed to be replaced. The engine and muffler were repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and the contact was denied a buyback option for the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 23,099.
I purchased my vehicle 6 months ago. I had no prior issues outside of a rough drive or a very slight burning smell from time to time. 12/2025 I found out through my auto insurance that my vehicle had a active safety recall (25S76) so I scheduled with my local Ford to get the temp software PCM update done until the remedy becomes available. Immediately after the software update I started getting a lot of system error codes; keys not detected, airbag fault, Tailgate open (when it wasnt), auto hold system fault, auto start/stop system fault, etc.. During this time I had issues with my break system "softening" like the breaks wanted to go out OR the break peddle locking up on me and being unable to move/drive. Delays in acceleration or spurts of acceleration which was uncommanded. This happened in active school zones making it even more unsafe and dangerous to drive. I took it back to my nearest dealership, and they could not replicate the issues but kept my case open and said to inform them if things changed. Things gradually got worse. I have video recording of my car accelerating without my foot on the peddle and my breaking peddle softening to the point of not working properly as well as hardening and locking up. I have photos of the errors when I was able to safely due so. I have full documentation that is not listed here (due to the amount of words allowed). I took my vehicle back and has been with Frontier Ford in Anacortes WA for 5 days. I have contacted Ford as well. I am unable to get a rental due to both Ford and the dealership both telling me to go to each other for help. I have no update as my vehicle is still in testing. They were able to replicate some of the issues but have no update outside of that. I have no way to work or take my children back and forth to their classes. My Ford dealership said this software has caused similar issues with other vehicles but my issue was a more severe case. I am unsure on how to move forward with this.
The contact's wife owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The owner received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the final remedy was not yet available. The contact stated that the owner occasionally noticed a fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the engine control software was updated as an interim repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the final recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact's wife had not experienced a failure.
At least 6 times now my gas guage has plummeted from 60+ miles to 6 then 2 and none in less than a mile. Thus has left me standed after midnight on the side of the highway and other various places. I had to use the road side help ford offered. It happens often and doinng deliveries this is very scary for me. I never know how much gas i have. I feel like im constantly putting in gas. I looked up the symptoms and found on reddit quite a few people experience the same. This could be very dangerous to me and other drivers constantly getting stranded on side of road or in the middle of the road. This is a new car im Paying alot of money for. And should feel as safe as possible while driving
• What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection? The brake system on my 2024 Ford Bronco Sport failed to respond for approximately 2–3 seconds after I pressed the brake pedal. This occurred immediately after freeing my foot from underneath the gas pedal while cruise control was active. The vehicle is available for inspection. • How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle did not slow down when the brake pedal was fully pressed, causing me to enter an intersection while other vehicles were turning. I had to swerve to avoid a collision, but another vehicle entered my path and a crash occurred. The braking delay directly increased the risk of a serious accident. • Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center? UNKNOWN. I have not yet had a dealership or service center attempt to reproduce or diagnose the issue. • Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others? The accident was documented by police and insurance, but the mechanical issue itself has not yet been inspected for cause. • Were there any warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure? When did they appear? There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms before the brake failure. The brakes simply did not respond when pressed. • Description of the incident: While traveling northbound on Sterling Ave approaching Truman Rd, the light turned yellow. I attempted to brake, but my foot was caught under the accelerator due to cruise control being engaged. After freeing my foot, I pressed the brake firmly, but the brakes did not respond for approximately 2–3 seconds. I swerved left to avoid turning traffic and sounded my horn. Another vehicle continued its turn and my front passenger quarter panel struck its rear passenger quarter panel at about 15 mph. The brakes only began functioning after the vehicle jerked from evasive steering input.
Powertrain malfunctions have occurred on 12/17/24, 4/11/25 and 10/5/25. Powertrain malfunction and yes. The car would not accelerate and someone could of ran into me, I could of been killed or badly injured and same for any other occupants in the either vehicle. Yes. Yes. The messages appeared on 12/17/24, 4/11/25 and 10/5/25.
The transmission failed to go in gear. The transmission was replaced and fixed by the dealership.
Recall 25V467 can result in vehicle fire and manufacturer does not have a remedy. This is a lease and I would like to return the vehicle back because it is a safety hazard.
I have contacted ford directly and they still have not gotten a remedy for the unrepaired recall. My spouse and I went on a road trip that was 20 hour trip in total. They told us to keep driving it until it catches on fire because they did not have a remedy for it yet. We had just taken it in for an oil change and had them look the vehicle over due to the rpms keep jumping up even when going at low speed. The vehicle keeps loosing power and shakes when at idle or even when it starts up. We told ford about the smell of fuel or something when we walk by the hood of the vehicle and they said there was nothing wrong with it and that they didnt notice or smell anything when they did the oil change. When we talked to ford about our concern with the vehicle and that were were afraid to drive it especially since we have a baby and that we were told to continue driving it until it catches fire. We have a 9 month old who is in the vehicle daily due to having to go daycare. i am afraid for him being in the vehicle and it catching on fire or anything and not having enough time to get him out of the vehicle. Something needs to be done pronto or a law suit will be brought up
I reached out to ford due to my 2024 bronco sport overheating and running hot. During the time of that complaint I was advised that my bronco currently has a recall that the fuel tank needs to be replaced but it is currently being deemed as non safety and will only be addressed if the vehicle is in for service. I was also advised that due to this recall it is currently a part of fords customer satisfaction program. Anything fuel related should be deemed as a safety recall considering fuel is a flammable chemical. I have requested a buy back as I no longer feel safe operating the vehicle or comfortable transporting my daughter in the vehicle as it aligns too closely with the known fuel safety recall currently present on some 2021-2024 bronco sports.
Vehicle is having trouble with moving, when press on gas pedal it does not really want to move. When sitting at idle vehicle shakes really bad. can hear a really bad tick when driving vehicle. noticed that when driving the vehicle has been shaking really bad. Rpms have also been shooting up high when barely going up to speed.

Chattering/screeching from right side of the car. Near tires. Took it in and showed example to technician and he heard it. Comes when turning right or backing up right slowly. They discovered it was the rear differential unit and it will be in the shop for 1-2 weeks.
The rear quarter panel glass on the vehicle's passenger side cracked. This is consistent with Recall Reference Number: 24S10 in which the adhesion of the glass is known to fail.
Nothing has happened but I want to file a complaint because it has been almost a year since this recall was issued and nothing has been done. Manufacturer Recall Number25S76 NHTSA Recall Number25V467
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V467000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The Powertrain of this Ford Bronco Sport (2024) with only 12,000 miles on it malfunctioned while the driver was on a major highway. No control over gears, engine power, etc. Had to pull over in heavy traffic. Fortunately there was a shoulder, or this would have been a major safety risk for the driver and other vehicles and would likely have resulted in an accident. Apparently, this malfunction is related to battery issues as well and can affect the emergency caution flashers. The vehicle was inspected by Ford after being towed to a local dealership and was told that this was part of a recall on other Ford Broncos. A few days later, was told that Ford dealership was replacing the transmission and other parts.
There is a recall for the fuel injectors that is a serious issue and can cause the engine to catch fire but there is no fix and I am afraid to drive my car.
I don’t know the exact name of the system that failed but my Bronco would not accelerate after making complete stops. When I would press on the gas pedals to move from a stopped position the Bronco would move very very slowly which in turn almost caused me to have over 3 car accidents as when I would press the gas to move from a stopping position it would move forward very slowly no matter who much pressure I would put on the gas pedal which in turn the oncoming cars almost hit me. I took the Bronco to the dealership and they said they had to reprogram the acceleration but that it could take up to 500 miles for the issue to be corrected. I believe from my experience this is dangerous and not safe! And should be addressed. This incident has happened several times not one.
Recall is taking way to long to fix!
The vehicle was bought brand new in February of this year, 2025. Was bought and has been driven by my daughter who turned [XXX] this year. She went to camp and the vehicle sat behind the house till she got back. the vehicle and front windshield face west and is exposed to the summer sun from 11:30 till 8pm. When she got back and went to drive the car on [XXX], there was a large stress crack in the middle of the windshield. (will attach pictures if possible with this online form). I had my neighbor check his security camera to see if anyone had vandalized the vehicle or if there had been any large object fall on the vehicle. after reviewing his recorded video, we both saw that no one touched the vehicle and that nothing fell on the windshield during the time it sat. I contacted Ford Motor Co. and they instructed me to take it to the dealership and have them take a look and then submit a claim if they thought it was a stress crack from the sun. I took the vehicle in to the dealership on June 26, 2025 and was told I would hear updates over the next few days. Over a week went by and I had to call the service dept at Wyatt Johnson Ford in Nashville. The Assistant service manager stated that Ford Warranty was denying the claim and stated that something else must have caused the crack. The Assistant Manager told me that the technician had written that they believed it was a stress crack from sun exposure and had submitted photos that backed up that claim. Also, on the work order, the Assistant Manager also wrote that it was a stress crack from sun exposure. There is a deep, horizontal crack in the middle of the windshield that has no origination marks or indentations which one would expect from the way that Ford Motor Warranty is denying the claim. I have asked the Assistant Manager to resubmit the claim and I sent him the photos I had taken as soon as it was first noticed. The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked outside, the front windshield cracked. The front windshield had a long horizontal crack. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspection, the crack had started from the inside of the windshield. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was inspected. The contact was informed that the windshield had cracked due to stress from sun exposure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,500.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated, and the contact stated that there was an abnormal white noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving 60 MPH, there was smoke coming from under the hood. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and shifted in park(P). The contact opened the hood and noticed that the engine had overheated. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact waited for the engine temperature to lower. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. On another occasion, while driving 65 MPH in the rain, the steering wheel pulled to the right. The contact was able to control the steering wheel and continued to drive at a slower speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. Most recently, the contact stated that there was an abnormal static sound coming from the electronics inside the vehicle. The contact stated that the abnormal sound was also heard with the engine turned off. The contact stated that the magnetic vibrations and potential unauthorized electronic interference affected her health. The contact used the PHYPHOX App to get the magnetic and electronic interference readings. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being diagnosed, a rental was provided. The rental was a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport, and the contact experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
I believe the transmission has an issue. The car was started and it quickly went into reverse and sped up trapping my wife between the door and a tree as she was exiting the vehicle to swap seats for me to drive. No known warnings were issued by the vehicle prior to the incident on 6/7/2025. The previous recall for the BCM & PCM was completed on 2/27/2025 by our local Ford dealer
See attached document for complaint.
The Heritage edition of the Bronco Sport has a piece white trim on the dashboard that causes a very distracting reflection on the windshield directly in the driver's line of sight. I feel there should be a recall for this piece of trim — replacing it with the regular dark strip used on the other Bronco Sport editions. Thank you for your consideration!
My backup camera one two separate occasions has not operated properly. First time it never showed a vehicle had come up behind me. Didn’t go off with any notice. I backed into a car. Second time a man with a cart walk behind as I was backing out no notice. There is a recall on review camera but not on my vin.
I was driving down the highway, and my moonroof exploded. I thought something had exploded or someone had shot at me. No other cars were around me that could have caused something to pop up and hit the roof. I did take it to the dealership service where photos were taken and submitted for a possible claim on the warranty. I only have about 2000 miles on the vehicle. My first payment isn't even due yet. Ford warranty declined the claim. It looked like it exploded upwards leading me to think this was an installation or material issue. Glass that exploded out flew off the roof of the vehicle scratching it as it dragged along. This could have hit another driver if one had been following behind me. I am currently awaiting a callback from the insurance adjuster.
The entire Advanced Drive Assistants Systems only works when it feels like it. Thankfully I haven't had any accidents yet..., but I have come very close to it three times. Especially when the lane system went down, it almost sent me into the car next to me.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and it was determined that there were bite marks on the electrical wires under the vehicle. The contact was informed that the insulation of the wires underneath the vehicle were soy-based and was being chewed on by squirrels. The wires were replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
While driving on the freeway, my Ford's sunroof spontaneously shattered. There were no vehicles in front of me, I live in San Diego County and the weather was in the mid-60's and I did not have my air on. It sounded like an explosion or gunshot. I immediately pulled off on to the shoulder and saw the shattered sunroof, and since I was about to exit to my house, I continued home and called the California Highway Patrol to report a potential gunshot to my vehicle. However, when the office arrived, he believed it was an implosion from the inside of the vehicle outward. This did appear to be the correct assessment as there was no glass inside the vehicle (I had seen glass fragments falling around the outside of my vehicle and in front of my windshield at the time of the explosive sound). Also, the glass was bent out towards the top of the vehicle consistent with an inside to outside breakage. I took it to my local Ford dealership and Ford has accepted responsibility for the defect and will replace my damaged sunroof at their cost.
The windshield on this vehicle is faulty. On online forms, others have commented on the same thing I am experiencing: the integrity of this windshield is so weak that within a couple months (sometimes just a few days) of having the vehicle, you can get multiple chips or cracks. On my last chip, I was driving on a Michigan highway at least 30 yards from other vehicles when something chipped my windshield. I've had the windshield chip while going 65mph on the high way, and also while my vehicle was at a standstill at a red light and the car in front of me pulled away quickly, kicking up debris. People often comment that they cannot afford to constantly keep up with the unending number of repairs needed to fix the windshield. As a result, they're driving with reduced visibility which impacts all drivers on the road. ADAS is built into the windshield- if cracks/chips occur in this area, the ADAS can become compromised. The windshield also contributes to the strength of the vehicle in rollovers- lack of stuctural integrtiy due to cracks/chips impacts that. Being an SUV that sits higher, the Bronco Sport is more prone to rollovers that lower sitting vehicles. Because the cost of replacing the windshield through Ford is so high (over $1000) many opt not to replace it or use a non OEM, aftermarket windshield which might not work as well with safety systems. This issue has been inspected by a Safelite auto glass technician - he remarked that this is extremely common with the Bronco Sport, this vehicle is one of the most common models he repairs. This component is available for inspection upon request.
I Was in Reverse backing out and stopped with the brake and rolled the gear dial to drive until foot off brake and it stayed stuck in reverse and I moved backwards and hit a car behind me. I braked again and looked to make sure I was in drive, And I was. Then, i took my foot off thee brake and it moved forward. Also I notice a big delay in drive after having brake applied. I think the gears are sticking. Or even a 2-4 second delay to switch from gear to gear.
The steering is temporarily disabled when the vehicle is in the auto off/fuel saver mode. I had an approaching EMS vehicle that I was almost struck by because my vehicle was off due to that feature. The steering wheel was not responsive.
I’d like to open a customer concern case. While I was driving on the freeway on, my gas tank was punctured after hitting debris in the road. It was a standard highway situation—not off-roading or anything extreme. The fact that the gas tank was damaged to the point of leaking or requiring repair is very concerning. It was a very large rupture. I believe the underbody protection may not be adequate, and I’m worried this could be a design or safety issue. I’ve taken photos and have a repair estimate. It was a very dangerous situation as one spark from heat could have sent my brand new Bronco sport into flames. This all happened on the 5 freeway on the grapevine in California. I consider myself very lucky
When the car has been driven for more than 20 minutes it has erratic shifting issues shifting up or down. It is most notable when in stop and go traffic. Four times it has given me a wrench on the dash cluster for Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power. At the time it suggests to contact a dealer. I pull over as soon as I can, shut the vehicle off, and restarted and the wrench goes away. It will then drive normal again. It has happened on 8/25/24, 10/5/24, and twice on 3/22/25.
The contact owns a 2024 Ford Bronco Sport. The contact stated that the engine knock sensor and the oil pressure sensor failure warning lights were illuminated; however, the vehicle had not displayed any failures. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the wires underneath the vehicle were defective due to bite marks. The contact stated that after the wires were repaired, the contact attempted to start the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer who determined that there were bite marks on the wires again. The contact was informed that the insulation on the wires were soy-based, and squirrels were chewing on the insulation. The wires were replaced again. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,031.
