TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN ~ THEY CONTACTED FORD SUPPORT AND WERE TOLD THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND I WOULD RECEIVE A LETTER WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. MY FORD DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD THAT IF THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS NOT ON, MY VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. IF MY AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON, I AM TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN AND THE REASON WOULD BE INVESTIGATED.

THE DEALERS INDICATED THAT THEY REACHED THEIR 15 VEHICLE MAXIMUM WITH THE VEHICLE RENTAL COMPANY AND HAD BEEN UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE LOANER VEHICLE PER THE NOTICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED TO DETERMINE IF THEY COULD VERIFY WHEN THE PART WOULD BE SUPPLIED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
IN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, THE STEERING LOCKED UP PREVENTING STRAIGHTENING OF VEHICLE AND CAUSING DRIVER TO CRASH.
IN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE AND IMPOSSIBLE TO STRAIGHTEN OUT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CONTINUE IN ITS TURNING RADIUS AND CRASH INTO A SIGN ON THE SIDEWALK. THE VEHICLE WAS TRANSPORTED TO A SALVAGE YARD. I AM OF THE BELIEF THAT THE BALL JOINT FAILED. WE HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED THE CAR AT FORD AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIPS AND EVEN REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS RECENTLY. THIS CAR HAS A PROPENSITY FOR FAILING BALL JOINTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ARROTTA'S AUTOMAX AND RV (6623 N DIVISION ST, SPOKANE, WA 99208, 1-509-703-7797), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. "TAKATA RECALL" NOTHING YET I AM FORCED TO DRIVE A CAR I PURCHASED IN APRIL WITH THIS RECALL AND STILL HAVENT GOT A LETTER FOR REPAIR SO IM PAYING 250.00 ON A CAR THAT I CANT HAVE ANYONE IN THE CAR WITH ME FOR THE FEAR THEY MIGHT BE INJURED OR EVEN KILLED BY THE AIR BAG THATS DEFECTED I CANT DRIVE KIDS TO AND FROM SCHOOL DUE TO THIS ISSUE I PAY TO HAVE THEM DRIVEN TO SCHOOL BY NEIGHBORS OR THEY DO NOT GO TO THE EXTRA ACTIVITIES BECAUSE I CANT DRIVE THEM THIS FORD EDGE HAS SO MANY PROBLEMS THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF SO IM PAY FOR A CAR THAT COST ME MONEY TO REPAIR EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND THE TRANNY JERKS AND I HIT MY FENCE AND ANOTHER CAR ALREADY THE BRAKES ARE MAKING A SQEELING AND THEY ABS LIGHT HAS NOT COME ON. THE FRONT END VIBRATES WHEN I TURN LEFT AND RIGHT I ALREADY REPAIRED THE REAR SHOCKS CAUSE THEY LEAKED EVERYWHERE IT IS NOW MAKING A TICKING SOUND WHEN ITS DRIVING IT HAS NO POWER WHAT SO EVER AS IF TRANNY IS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING IM AT MY WITTS END I CANT AFFORD TO FIX ALL THE PROBLEMS AND STILL MAKE MY PAYMENTS AND PAY TO DRIVE MT KIDS AROUND BECAUSE THE DANGEROUS AIR BAG IT ONLY HAS 155000 MILES I MAINTAIN IT TO FORD MANUAL AND STILL ITS THE WORSE CAR I HAVE EVER OWED AND HAS COST ME MORE IN THE SHORT TIME I HAVE HAD IT WITH 148000 MILES IN APRIL THEN ALL THE CARS IVE HAD AND MAINTAINED I WOULD LIKE SOME COMPENSATION FOR THIS AIR BAG AND FIX ASAP WHEN DOES IT GET FIXED WHEN SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES . IT ALL STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT END OF APRIL BEGANING OF MAY.
WHEN FIRST STARTED UP IT SOME TIMES TURNS OFF WITH NO WARNING. THEN A CONSTANT TICKING SOUND THEN INTERMITTENTLY WHEN REVERSING THE CAR KICKS BACK AS IF TRANSMISSION IS NOT ENGAGING AND HAS LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHEN MERGING ONTO FREEWAY HAS HESITATION AND ALMOST GOT INTO A WRECK A DRIVING RPM GO UP AND DOWN ERATICLY AND ACCELERATION IS SLUGISH. BRAKES ARE CONSTANLY QUELLING AND THEY DONT NEED REPLACED I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 2MONTHS AGO FROM USED CAR LOT BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 1800.00 BUT DOES NOT TAKE EFFECT FOR 90 DAYS BUT MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM SINCE THIS IS A PROBLEM BEFORE COVERAGE WAS IN EFFECT HAVENT EVEN MADE MY FIRST PAYNENT I WILL HAVE THEM FOR 2YRS CAR HAS 150008 MILES.
TAKATA RECALL. MY EDGE IS A 2008. ALL THAT I READ ADVISED OLDER VEHICLES ARE AT A HIGHER RISK. I BELIEVE A 10 YEAR OLD VEHICLES QUALIFIES AS "OLDER". I AM NOT ABLE TO TAKE A SECOND PERSON WITH ME ANYWHERE UNLESS THEY SIT IN THE BACK SEAT. THE LAST INFO I RECEIVED HAS SCARED ME. I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR AND I FEEL THAT IT IS BEYOND TIME THAT THIS ISSUE IS TAKEN CARE OF. YOU CAN NOT CONTACT FORD ABOUT THIS. I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THEIR REPRESENTATIVES THAT THEIR EMAIL HAS BEEN REMOVE BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. I PAID FOR A 5 PASSENGER VEHICLE AND IT IS NOW A 4 PASSENGER BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. LOCAL FORD DEALERS HAVE PRETTY MUCH WRITTEN THE ISSUE OFF AND HONESTLY I GUESS IT IS BEYOND THEIR CONTROL TO DO ANYTHING. FORD WON'T TAKE COMPLAINTS. I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED WITH THIS ISSUE
2016 DRIVING OUT OF SUBDIVISION,CAME TO STOP BEFORE STARTING UP INCLINE.MOTOR WAS RACING BUT CAR WAS SLOWLY MOVING,DROVE A SHORT DISTANCE,AT VERY SLOW MOVEMENT.PULLED OFF ROAD AND HAD CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. 2018 AFTER HWY. DRIVING AND THEN TURNING ROAD...CAME TO STOP SIGN,PUT FOOT ON GAS TO MAKE TURN AND CAR MOTOR WAS RACING BUT CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE.MOVED ABOUT 8 FEET THEN PUT GEAR INTO NEUTRAL FOR A MINUTE AND THEN PUT GEAR INTO DRIVE.IT MADE A LOUD NOISE , BUT DID GO INTO DRIVE. DROVE 1 BLOCK AND IT APPARENTLY SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND ROLLED TO A STOP.
I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY WHEEL BEARING AND THERE IS A RECALL 270760 AND MY VIN # WAS NOT ON THE LIST. MY CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY FINE AND THEN WHEN I GOT NEW TIRES, THEY TOLD ME THAT MY WHEEL BEARINGS WERE WEAK. IN THE BEGINNING, BEFORE I GOT MY TIRES, THE CAR STARTED VIBRATING AND GRINDING. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE AUTO REPAIR TO LOOK AT IT, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT MAY BE THE TIRES, WHICH I DID NEEDED TO REPLACE. SO I DID. THE SOUND DID NOT GO AWAY. FINALLY, THEY DID MORE CHECKING AND TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALL AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY REFUSED TO DO THE WORK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A CLUNKING NOISE WAS PRESENT WHEN SHIFTING GEARS AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE ACCELERATING. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURES. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, THE FAILURE WOULD SOMETIMES BE CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

WHILE DRIVING CAR MAKES SEVERE ROARING/ HUMMING NOISE. ALSO WHILE DRIVING MAKING TURNS OR NOT MAKING TURNS THE CAR JERKS UNCONTROLLABLY. MY DOOR SENSOR WILL NOT RECOGNIZE WHETHER OR NOT MY FRONT DRIVER DOOR IS CLOSED, SO WHILE I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT SAYS MY DRIVER DOOR IS OPEN. THERE IS A RECALL THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT ON THE SUSPENSION; FRONT HUB,. I'VE CONTACTED MY LOCAL PRATER FORD & FORD MOTOR COMPANY WITH NO HELP. TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND DOWNSHIFTING HARD - AROUND 80,000K I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BANG WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE. AFTER THAT, OTHER ISSUES STARTED HAPPENING - WHILE PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, VEHICLE WOULD NOT SWITCH TO A HIGHER GEAR. I'D HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP (IN TRAFFIC!), PUT IT IN PARK, THEN TRY TO DRIVE AGAIN. PERIODS WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD GET TO SPEED THEN SLIP. TRANSMISSION WOULD BANG LIKE I WAS BEING REAR-ENDED. CHANGED THE VALVE BODY, TSS, AND OSS SENSORS. THAT WORKED FOR A WHILE BUT NOW IT'S ACTING UP AGAIN. DOWNSHIFTS SO HARD AND BANGS WHILE I'M DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. I'M AFRAID IT'S GOING TO GO COMPLETELY WHILE I'M DRIVING. THERE WAS NO PRIOR DAMAGE TO VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS MALFUNCTION.
SEAT CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO SEAT WARMER ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION MY VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION IT WAS PARKED
SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER AT RANDOM SPEEDS QUITS WORKING , LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT, WRENCH LIGHT, AIRBAG LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CONSTANT LOUD CLUNKING SOUND WHEN CHANGING GEARS. THE CAR KICKS BACK AS IF TRANSMISSION IS NOT ENGAGING AND HAS LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND WHEELS ROLL AND WHEN RED LIGHT TURNS GREEN, THE CAR TAKES TIME TO ACCELERATE AND WHEELS START ROLLING AND MAKE A LOUD SOUND.I PULL OVER THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD EVERY TIME AND TURN IT OFF, THEN TURN THE VEHICLE ON AGAIN SO IT CAN GO BACK TO NORMAL. USUALLY HAPPENS ON BOTH CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAY AT A RANDOM SPEED BETWEEN 45 MPH AND 60 MPH. 114,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE ON FEB, 2018 AND TOOK IT TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND ALL OF THEM CLAIMED IT'S EITHER A SPEED SENSOR ISSUE/ TRANSMISSION FAILURE/ ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

CHECK ENGLINE LIGHT & WRENCH COMES ON AND THE 2008 EDGE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, THEN ENTERED "LIMP MODE". MY HUSBAND TOOK IT IN 3 DIFFERENT TIMES TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND EACH TIME WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. THE 4TH TIME I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON A 45MPH, 3 LANE ROAD. THE POWER JUST WENT OUT, ACCELARATOR NO LONGER WORKED, BUT THEN RETURNED BUT ONLY ABOUT 5MPH. LUCKY I WASN'T KILLED! I TOOK IT BACK TO SERVICE DEPT. AND TOLD THEM THEY NEEDED TO CHECK THE THROTTLE BODY (ETB). THEY LAUGHED AT ME, BUT THEN CALLED 3 DAYS LATER TO TELL ME THAT IT IS THE ETB AND OVER $750. I CONTACTED FORD AS THEY HAD ISSUED THE SO-CALLED "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" EXTENDING THE ETB WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR UP TO 10 YEARS OF SERVICE OR 150,000 MILES. FORD SAYS ALL VEHICLES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PROGRAM, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE, BUT NOT 2008. THOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THEY KNOW THE PROBLEM GOES BACK TO 2005 MODELS, THEY FEEL MY CAR IS TOO OLD & HAS TOO MANY MILES AT 104K. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM AND FORD REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING. WHEN SOMEONE DIES BECAUSE OF THIS KNOWN ISSUE, I HOPE THAT FORD EXECUTIVES ARE HELD AS COMPLICITORS IN PREMEDITATED MURDER. AFTER ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES, NO PARTS AVAILABLE, AND NOW THIS, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AND WILL GET THIS PIECE OF JUNK OUT OF MY LIFE ASAP.

TAKATA RECALL--RECALL WAS ISSUED IN JUNE OF 2016 FOR THIS VEHICLE, BUT FORD HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE A REMEDY 1 1/2 YEARS LATER. FOR SUCH AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE HOW IS FORD ALLOWED TO CONTINUE TO DELAY A REMEDY OR ALLOWED TO SELL USED VEHICLES COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BUT HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED?
BOTH TAILLIGHT SOCKETS WERE FOUND BURNT. BRAND NEW LIGHT BULB WAS NOT MAKING SUFFICIENT CONTACT IN THE SOCKET TO ILLUMINATE (LIGHT BULB WAS NOT BAD). DEFECT WAS FOUND WHEN REPLACING BULBS DUE TO NON-FUNCTIONING REAR TURN SIGNAL.

TAKATA RECALL - I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER REGARDING THE PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IN MY 2008 FORD EDGE. MY PROBLEM IS ARLINGTON HEIGHTS FORD IS SAYING THAT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT FOR AT LEAST A YEAR BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART. IN THE MEAN TIME, I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE ANYONE RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT WRIST AND LOWER BACK. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED FACIAL AND ORAL INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

FORD HAD SENT RECALL NOTICE NOT TO HAVE ANYONE IN PASSENGERS SEAT UNTIL AIRBAG IS REPLACED BUT ALSO STATES THE PARTS WON'T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SPRING 2018. THIS IS TOO LONG TO WAIT FOR A FIX FOR SOMETHING THAT CAN CAUSE BODILY INJURY.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH, WE DROVE OVER A STANDARD MANHOLE COVER AND THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE BANGING NOISE ABOVE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL AND THE SECTION OF THE HOOD CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD WAS PUSHED UP ABOUT 6 INCHES. WE PULLED OVER AND COULD SEE THE STRUT PRESSING UP AGAINST THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHERE WE LEARNED THAT THE ENTIRE STRUT TOWER HAD BROKEN THROUGH THE STRUT SUPPORT DUE TO A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE SPOT WELDS THAT WERE CONNECTING THE UPPER STRUT MOUNT CAP TO THE VEHICLE BODY. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER NOR THE MECHANIC HAD EVER SEEN THIS KIND OF STRUCTURAL FAILURE. WE ARE GRATEFUL THAT WE WERE NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED, AND WE ARE EAGER FOR THE ISSUE TO BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS A STRUCTURAL DEFECT OF THE 2008 FORD EDGE THAT COULD FURTHER AFFECT OUR OR OTHER FAMILIES' VEHICLE SAFETY.
